I didn't know I could dislike Mrs 'I removed deliberately placed flowers' Westenra more - until she left everything to her daughter's fiance rather than to her daughter. It just further proves she thinks of Lucy as a child that needs taken care of.

I just saw a superbat prompt but i need to turn it into wangxian so bad:
So imagine if, somehow with the incense burner or any other artifact, they dream with WWX's domestic dream. They getting marrriage in a very intimate cerimony with Lan WangJi's family and Jiang Yanli.
They move to a little house in the middle of a beatifull florest, they go night hunting, buy things together for their house, cuddle with each other on rainy days, baths together, share kisses and call each other "husband" for years
Just fot them to wake up and notice that everything was just a dream and they still on the war and think the other didn't remember or know anything
So WangXian just keep going, with a lot of pinning on eachother.
Lan WangJi look at Wei WuXian and desire to see his happy smile again, his laugh, his hug and how they call Lan WangJi his husband and both being happy on their little house
Wei WuXian still saying to himself he doesn't like man but really miss the domestic bliss and simplicity of the dream, sometimes even daydreaming with them having a little one, but he feels bad because Lan WangJi would never do that things with him

“Whenever I see pictures of young William and Kate from their dating years I actually feel so giddy and then I feel sad. They looked so cute and in love. I would be devastated if something happens or if something already happened to their marrriage. I don’t know why people want their marriage to fail so bad. Do you all hate love?” - Submitted by Anonymous

Note
I recently learned of a research on predicting the longevity of a marriage and it really helped me understand why anime InuKag was not at good as manga InuKag.
The research showed that fighting was not a problem, as lots of happy, long marriages had lots of fighting. The crucial aspect was whether the couple was mutually respectful during their fight. Observed disrespect was a very strong predictor of a short-lived marrriage.
The fundamental difference between manga InuKag and anime InuKag is how much disrespect was in the anime. InuKag bickered in the manga but I never cringed at their arguments, while in the anime there were insults randomly thrown in for the sake of more osuwari.
YES. I've always struggled to explain why manga Inukag's bickering / fighting made their relationship more endearing to me but @mustardyellowsunshine explained it perfectly:
"Their bickering (and even their genuine arguments) speaks to a level of security and trust in their relationship. They can disagree with one another knowing that it ain't gonna break the relationship." "Conflict in relationships is completely normal and unavoidable (and really shouldn't be avoided), it's really important to find a partner with whom you can be in healthy conflict. (Sometimes loving someone isn't enough to make a relationship work -- you've gotta be able to be in conflict with them too.)"
It's healthy to be able to be yourself around your partner and not constantly be afraid that a difference of opinion or a day when you're in a bad mood and you have a fight will break your relationship. Inuyasha and Kagome fight, they take some time to cool off, they potentially apologize to each other and then they move on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you pointed out, the big difference that turn their bickering in the manga into something unhealthy in the anime is the disrespect. Inuyasha is constantly insulting her to her face, and I can't blame anime-only fans for thinking Kagome doesn't deserve that. Sure it's supposed to be a joke, but Inuyasha is painfully aware of Kagome's insecurities regarding his "ex", and those are not treated as a joke in the series for the most part.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sunrise's sense of humor is extremely childish and I'm just too old to find this endearing. I can easily explain Inukag's fights in the manga, but not this. This is just Inuyasha being unnecessarily mean to Kagome because some of the writers clearly didn't like her very much.

@stuffireadandenjoy @snootlestheangel @alypink @catterdraws @justasmolbard it's done!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I came across with a post about how to properly draw an asian character, and it was really interesting to see everything, also is a good lesson. So I thought about how colombians are pictured around the world, and is sure to say that certain people has marked the perception of us. I love how many people recognize people like Shakira or Gabriel García Márquez (I love this man books 💕), but unfortunately Escobar is also recognizable.
I don't know. Maybe no one will use this or maybe someone will, but here are some tips to write a colombian character. Remember this is my experience, and it still limited to what I've known all my life. I might have something wrong.
-First things first. The accent! I know that probably you have heard the accent used for some series or maybe you heard Shakira's accent. But those aren't the only ones in Colombia, actually those are really specific.
We have regions, and the accents change from one to another and from a city to another! The most known is from Medellín (we call them paisas) and it is stronger than others from the same department. For example I have a friend that travels a lot to that part of the country, and she says that outside Medellín the accent is somehow softer.
And from the Caribbean region, the accent is (from what I've heard) quicker and they speak louder, as far as I know is because of the heat and a physics matter. I only have traveled to Cartagena once, but is a big difference between their accent and mine, I can assure you that. Also, unfortunately I haven't visited many places, so I can't say for sure about other regions, for example I have no idea how the accents change on the Pacific region or the Orinoquia.
But I can speak a bit more about the Andean region. I'm from Bogotá and I sound weird sometimes, but if someone tells you that in Bogotá we don't have accent, that's bullshit. We do have an accent and it varies from a part of the city to another, I don't know how to describe it.
When you are in the north, it sounds like they are eating something while they speak (my mom compared it with a hot potato). And in some parts of the south, some people speak with many words impossible to traduce to english and it sounds like they are going to start a fight.
-Next, the skin color. It's usual to think, even among colombians, that a skin tone is unique for a region, but in reality there isn't a specific tone. There are afro-descendants, indigineous people, half-blood, and white people. Many skin colors can be present in a same family, again the example case is my own family.
I'm white as well as cousin but my uncle is black, and my grandma, she has brown skin. All of us are related by blood, but our skin is really different. As far I have investigated and seen, the most common tone is brown, and is really usual to see black/brown hair and brown eyes (red or blonde is rare, also are blue and green eyes).
And our height is a big comparison too! While my dad is 6', his mom is 5'3, his brother is 6'2 and his father was 5'4 (I'm 5'6 btw).
Something I really hate to admit, but that gives more information about my own country, is that even after all this time and the change of decades, many people continue being racist unconsciously. Across the country is usual that the mother tell the daughter to marry a white guy, but I'll be usual to discourage a marrriage or a relationship with a black person. (My experience, when I introduced one of my best friends that born in Chocó Pacific region, my family thought he was my boyfriend and wanted me to broke up with him.)
-About people, we are religious in many levels and most of the kids are raised catholic, not necessarily nuns schools, but religion is really important in most schools. It's normal to see many grandmas doing the rosary while making the lunch and many grandpas going to mass during sundays. And so, it's usual to use expressions such as "Ave María Purísima!" when you are surprised or "calle la boca que Cristo escucha" when someone says something weird and "Dios me lo bendiga, mijo" if you are grateful for something.
Also across downtown Bogotá there are many churches, a cathedral on the main square, churches near many neighborhoods and a church on top of the Eastern hills (Monserrate to be specific). Personally I'm not very religious, but during part of my childhood I was dragged to mass, because of homework and now I just memorized part of the service.
Some universities are also religious, or at least managed by an archidiocese. The one I attend is laic, but one of my professors also teaches on one that is religiously managed and he told us that they asked him to keep some...topics outside the pensum.
-There are some expressions apart of the ones above that are only colombian, even some are from only one region or city. I'll write and try to explain some of them.
"No dé papaya, hermano...": This one is used mostly when you have a valuable item (cellphone, jewelery or your wallet) outside without a care in the world. Unfortunately is awfully common to get robbed, so if you "das papaya" is like let yourself get robbed basically.
"Este chino es juicioso, tranquilo": In Colombia, "juicioso" means be responsible, respectful and kind. More or less. To be honest, is difficult to explain, so I'll write as I interprete it.
"Uy no, ya paila": This one is used when someone is beyond reparation or fixing. For example when you made a big mistake and there's no way to solve it, also when something is broken and you can't repair it.
"El man es un bacán": When someone is really cool and fun to be around.
"El que busca encuentra": Is the equivalent of "fuck around and find out".
"Se le corrió el shampoo": We use it when some is acting weird, or acting differently from how they usually act. My mom uses it often with my dad, he is a bit childish and well, there it goes.
"Mande al chino": It's to send the child to do something. Here we call "chino" to a kid.
"No me abra los ojos que no le voy a echar gotas": The moms use this one, mostly when a kid is getting scolded and they open their eyes in surprise or disgust. But also it's used to warn a kid that the are misbeheaving.
"Son como uña y mugre": It's when someone is so close with other person (family or not) that they do almost everything together, and know eachother perfectly. They can know eachother from a long time, at least that's my case.
"Ay sí, no jodas...": You use this one when you don't believe something that someone tells you.
"Ese man es más abeja": This is when a person is cunning or sly, and it can be said in a good or a bad way.
"Este es como los burros cuando les echan flores": When someone got praised, but a moments after they do something stupid.
"Va pal' cielo y va llorando": This one is about someone that has everything, or that thir life is going right, and keeps complaining about little things.
-Our geography is variated and some of us are used to some aspects of it. For example people that live near the coast are way more used to the heat, but people from the center mostly can't stand heat (my case). And on the other hand, the people of the center are used to the altitude and the steepness of the road (fucking downtown streets), and I've seen that, during the first year of a classmate from Guaviare, it was difficult to get used to the altitude.
The weather are really different from place to place, humid, dry and more. In Cartagena is a dry heat (I think) and in Bogotá is usually cold and foggy, but it can change in a minute. During january to june are the hottest months and during august to december are the coldest ones.
In Bogotá can be raining hard (an aguacero as we call them) and five minutes later can be doing a hellish heat. Personally I prefer the rain and the cold that the heat, but the sun is appreciated from day to day.
Also, the road trips can be from two hours (Bogotá-Ubaté) to almost two days aprox. (Leticia-Riohacha)
-Music! I love the music and many people also does! And if I can think of something that always make me laugh are the songs tipical from december!
Here are many songs that we hear for the holidays (the radio stations usually start to put them since september because...tradition), some of them we know them so good that we identify them just with the rythm. I can think of many but the names just don't appear, but the ones I'll never forget are:
Adonay by Rodolfo Aicardi (*muttering* Adonay, ¿por qué te casaste, Adonay?)
Cariñito by Rodolfo Aicardi (dancing this one with my grandpa. Do I know how to dance? No, but I don't give a fuck, it still a beautiful memory :"3)
Daniela by Rodolfo Aicardi (now that I think about it...the rythm is great but the story is fucked up xd)
El hijo ausente by Pastor López (this one hits worst when you're far from home even if you only are outside your city)
Cinco pa' las doce by Néstor Zavarce (like it's title says, it's always on the speakers when is 11:55 pm)
And some that are obligatory in my house during christmas and New Years!
En Barranquilla me quedo by Joe Arroyo
Rebelión by Joe Arroyo
Oiga, Mire, Vea by Orquesta Guayacán
Niégame Tres Veces by Silvestre Dangond (For some reason, a cousin is always going through a break up during holidays and always sings this one drinking aguardiente and also he puts El Venao'. I wonder why... /s)
Ella es mi fiesta by Carlos Vives (THAT is when I start singing without shame and my cousin /my favorite\ joins me)
For now is everything, but if something else comes to mind, I'll edit this! And if another person thinks I left something outside, feel free to add it! I want to see other perspectives about the country!
And please, people that has seen Narcos, for God's sake, stop thinking that all the colombians sound like we came from Antioquia. If I hear another person ask me to say "'mor", I'm going to fight that person, I swear.

Is Catelyn stark seen as the ideal lady in asoiaf? Like she’s dutiful, can run a big household, puts a lot of work into her marrriage, highly educated, good courtesies, knows war tactics (advice she told Theon that her uncle already did), and good at soft power but steps up when needs. She seem like that’s the ideal lady lords would want ruling their keep and raising their children? Or have I got it wrong? Oh and pious
Ideal is an illusion. The patriarchy means there's no winning here. Nobody can.
With Catelyn specifically, what we see is that even with her impressive list of skills and her dedication to her family, it pisses men off when she actually uses her skills in advocating for herself and her family. Some of the most important points about gender politics in Catelyn (and Sansa's) PoVs is that conforming to the expectations of the patriarchy only provides so much protection - no matter what they do, there will be some excuse not to respect women.

Jiang Gunian Made A Change Part 19
Wei WuXian was shocked, almost to the point of paralysis, when he heard of the potential future. It wasn't that he was scared of dying.... The thought of his shijie dying? Of his home being destroyed? Of his friends dying?
He wouldn't allow such a future to pass.
Xia KeXin was the first person in his quest to make that future never occur. "I need to know what leads to my death, so I can prevent everyone else's," he demanded.
"Have you gone to the Qishan archery contest yet? Have you met a boy named Wen Ning, courtesy QiongLin?"
"Yes."
"Good." She sighed. "They helped you a great deal."
***
Wei WuXian peeked at his friend as they packed. Were you really my husband? Are you really in love with me? It was weird... made his stomach feel funny. He knew he'd loved his parents and he knew he loved ShiJie. But what was this feeling he had for Lan Zhan? Was it love? It was a need... almost a compulsion... to look, to touch, to want Lan Zhan to look back, to touch back. His fingers itched to pull one of the ends of Lan Zhan's ribbon, just to see what he would do this time. It had been an accident back in Qishan.... Lan Zhan had been so angry.... Angry because he didn't understand what the ribbons represented. He did now. In that other future, he'd been granted the right to touch whenever he felt like it. He'd belonged to Lan Zhan: body and soul. He wasn't exactly sure what marriage between two men looked like.... If it was Lan Zhan? He was willing to find out. Aching to find out. "Lan Zhan… you really will have to change into normal clothing before we leave. If you go out like that, everyone will know you're a Lan disciple."
"Mmm."
"And that means removing your forehead ribbon, too. Do you want me to carry it for you?" He was gratified to see Lan Zhan's ears turning pink with embarrassment. He was startled to hear the monosyllabic non-response sound like a 'yes'.
"Mmm."
Did Lan Zhan want it, too?
Jiang YanLi called out, "Lan Er Gongzi? May I have a moment of your time?" She was talking to the second jade quietly; Wei Ying had excellent hearing, as did all cultivators.
Marrriage? ShiJie would allow us to marry? It didn't occur to him that he should be embarrassed about his martial sister speaking so matter-of-factly about his future. Lan Zhan looked embarrassed to be found out, not embarrassed to feel like that.
There was no time to talk about ribbons and what they meant. Between finishing up packing and getting the communication box from Meng Yao, they were very busy. Once they were on the road, it didn't seem like the right time or place to talk.
The third day out from the camp, it started drizzling. And then the drizzle became rain. Which became a downpour. Drenched and shivering, the two boys happily spied a cottage. Empty of all but vermin and with holes in the roof in one corner, the boys decided it was as good as a castle. Talismans evicted the mice and dried wood. While Lan Zhan started a fire, Wei Ying gathered the rotting remnants of the bedding and threw them outside. "The bed looks sturdy enough," he mused, pressing on it looking for soft spots. "Big enough for the whole family, too, probably. Do you see a broom? I'll sweep a bit or do you think the roof is stable enough for me to get up and see if I can fix some of the holes?"
"There's what used to be a broom over there," Lan Zhan pointed to the rainy corner. "It looks like the mice used most of the straw for their nests."
The broom remnants were sufficient to sweep most of the dirt off the bed frame and remove cobwebs. "What do you think happened to the family?" Wei WuXian asked to pass the time. "I think the husband and wife moved here as newlyweds. They lived happily with their daughters."
"Why daughters?"
"Because a son would expect to inherit the place? Daughters would marry and move out. Maybe there was a son who died before he had a son of his own? Anyways, the couple lived here for decades and died peacefully in their sleep, holding each other's hands."
"That's morbid. If they died here, where are the remains?"
"Of course, the daughters checked up on their parents. And gave them a proper burial." Wei WuXian smiled at his fantasy. It was awfully close to his own dreams. "Lan Zhan? When you get too old to night hunt, are you going to just retire to Cloud Recesses and teach? I think I want something like this. A house and a farm and a river or lake so I can catch fish. Go on night hunts when I want. Come home to my family...."
"You don't want to live at Lotus Pier?"
"I mean after. Jiang Cheng's son will want his own people in charge, won't he?" Wei WuXian looked at his friend, still dripping wet. "We should change into dry clothing. Just because we can't get sick doesn't mean it's healthy to stay in wet clothing." He began fighting with his belt, the leather swollen and unresponsive.
"What are you doing?" Lan Zhan sounded scandalized.
"I'm changing. I'm cold and wet and I want to be warm and dry. Turn your back if you're going to faint like a girl."
Lan Zhan whirled, ears exposed by his wet hair clinging to his scalp brilliantly scarlet. "It's not proper."
"We're both men." The belt finally released and clanged to the floor. "Haven't you changed in front of other disciples before?" The ties holding his robes closed were knotted tightly. "I can't get this!" he whined. "Everything is stuck tight." He huffed sadly at limp bangs. "I'm going to have to try to dry up a bit before the ties will loosen. You can turn around. I'm still dressed."
"No, I don't change in front of other disciples," Lan Zhan retorted. "It's not appropriate."
Wei Ying collapsed in front of the fire fluffing his soggy robes as best as possible. "Lan Zhan? Back at camp, you said you'd give me your ribbon to carry, but you didn't 'cause ShiJie said you can't? What's the deal with the ribbons anyways?" He knew, of course. Xia KeXin had been very insistent that he understand exactly what touching those ribbons meant.
"You should know what they mean," Lan Zhan sounded irritated as he sank gracefully to the floor next to Wei Ying in front of the fire. "You copied the Rules so many times."
"As if I paid attention," Wei Ying laughed. This close, the firelight almost danced, reflected in his friend's eyes. So cute. They were close enough that a small sideways rock would make their shoulders brush together.
"That's what Jiang YanLi said. They represent restraint."
Wei Ying looked at his friend. "Does that mean you're not restrained right now? You can do whatever you want? We can do anything we want?"
Lan Zhan looked back. "Wei Ying," he chastised. "Don't tease." He swallowed once, twice, Adam's apple bobbing.
I want to kiss it. Feel it moving beneath my lips when he does that. The thought was enticing. "What if I'm not teasing?" He swallowed, too, and saw his friend's gaze drop to follow his throat's motion. "What if I remember exactly who can touch your ribbon?" He hadn't meant to make that admission.... Now that it was out, though....
"Don't tease," sounded like a plea for something else.
For a kiss, perhaps. "I'm not teasing, Lan Zhan...." He shifted to his knees and kept his eyes firmly on his friend's as he leaned forward.
Lan Zhan's lips tasted like rain water and smoke. They were soft and damp and thrilling. He could feel the kiss all the way to his toes. "I like you so much, Lan Zhan," he sighed as his eyes fluttered shut.
