hello blessed followers, i have a fun question i think would be fun for you to answer. whether it be with a reply on the post or an ask. what is the cryptid that you think would be most likely to be real? i myself don't believe in cryptids but if i had to pick one that was most likely at least from the popular ones, i think the yeti would be most likely. like maybe chilling in antarctica

All this mall walking I'm doing, a track suit and Velcro-fastened shoes may be in my future.

Today I started at Southdale. It is the nation's first indoor mall. I grew up nearby. Friends and I would bike or take a city bus to get there. The stereo store and Woolworths were my favorites.

It's not a bad place now, but like some malls these days it has low attendance. Good parking spots are plentiful.

The Apple store was the only busy place. Others were, like Bed Bath & Beyond's checking account, mostly empty.

I hate to go in and browse if I'm the only customer. Either an eager employee will want to talk to me or a sullen one will glare, thinking I could interrupt the time he or she is spending on the phone. Being lost in a light crowd is my preferred browsing experience.

Southdale isn't much of a hangout for young people. The few teens I saw mostly concentrated on their screens. Maybe the stores could have doorways that look like big iPhones, to get the kids' attention.

Having a dollar store surely isn't a good sign for a mall, nor is one that just sells candy and chips. One end of the building had a lot of vacancies. Festive signs cover windows, or clothes from other stores that are still open are displayed.

Southdale is like a 10-year-old red haired Golden Retriever, that good boy whose smiling face has turned white. I have fond memories of the mall of my youth, when it had the energy of a puppy. Now it naps a lot and has a difficult time with stairs (one of Macy's escalators was out of order). You start to wonder if it will be around next year.

The good news is that a huge athletic club repurposed a JCPenny store, and a really nice grocery store is taking over where Marshalls(?) used to be. There's still hope for the old boy.

After I walked both levels I crossed the street to the The Galleria, the mall with higher-end stores. There I had a hard time finding a parking spot.

Williams Sonoma and Crate & Barrel are awesome. A $2000 espresso has now been added to my letter to Santa. A more moderately priced martini glass also got my attention. I would have bought a pair of them, but the checkout line was too long for me for an impulse purchase.

There's a Yeti store in that mall that I hadn't seen before. That was a great place to look around. Note to young people working a first job: When a well dressed $$$ customer asks a very specific question about a $450 item it doesn't sound good to start your reply with "Uh, yeah like maybe..."

I want some new eyeglasses. Warby Parker had a few frames I liked. We'll see (hahaha). These frames look much better and not so wide in person than in this photo, I think. As I always do with glasses, I'll bring my wife with some other time for help selecting.

So my last Animal Crossing poll, which Marshal won by a hair, got me thinking. I’d have to BUY Marshal because I don’t have his Amiibo on hand, and that gave me pause. I’ve bought so many AC Amiibo cards already that it almost became an addiction.

But then it hit me: I have a bunch of cards! So instead of spending money, and to make up for the other poll being tossed out, I have a new week-long poll to have you all decide who the REAL last boy on the island will be from out of the cards I have! The winner will join the island after my vacation!

1. Julian is genuinely one of the prettiest smug villagers, as well as one of my favorites overall. He’s a feminine male unicorn with slick style and one of the cooler houses among the mythical creature villagers. Plus I have a perfect spot for his house: A field of flowers on a seaside cliff.

2. Hans was my first smug villager, and has come and gone off my islands more times than I can count. He’s an absolute Chad, a buff yeti boy with style who unironically says “groovy” as his catchphrase. He’d also be a unique animal unlike most other choices.

3. Dobie is the best wolf in the game. He’s a cranky old grandpa, AND he’s a writer (meaning he’s literally me). The only downsides I can think of is I can’t ship his wrinkly ass with anyone, and that my daughter really seems to not like the wolves in this game (they scare her I think).

4. Pietro is da Jokah, baybee! He’s one of the most colorful characters around, and his clown style almost makes up for how awful his house is compared to his house in New Leaf. Almost.

5. I’m not too keen on another jock joining my island (Tiansheng is more than enough), but come on! It’s Kevin Bacon! Plus his catchphrase is “Weeweewee!”

6. Drago needs little elaboration as to why he’s cool: He’s a fat, lazy dragon who likes to eat and whose house looks like a Chinese restaurant. He’d make a good buddy/boyfriend to Tiansheng, I think.

7. Sasha is basically the ultimate femboy twink of the game, and he’s a bunny! He’s also the only male character with the fashion hobby! It is a bit weird hearing the himbo slob dialogue coming out of his mouth, though.

8. The underdog of the bunch. Elvis is the only character I have a card for who has never been on my island. He has a really cool house and he’d be a unique animal (there’s no other lion).

9. I love Cephalobot. I know I’m trying to vote him off, but he is a good buddy and he is cute. I guess I’m not opposed to keeping him for now.

10. There are other villagers I like who I could easily time travel for like Raymond, Chops, or Tucker. This would be first come, first served; whoever I like most that pops up first gets in.

A Soviet scientist said Wednesday she came within feet of the legendary abominable snowman during an eyeball to eyeball encounter with the furry beast in the snow covered forests of western Siberia.

In what Radio Moscow described as one of the closest encounters of its kind, the creature reportedly stood and stared at her with red eyes, not making a sound, before her pet dog chased the snowman or yeti deep into the woods.

The scientist, Maya Brikova, told Radio Moscow she had spent 25 years studying the yeti. Her sighting occurred late last year when Soviet media reported three yeti encounters.

Brikova and two guides had stopped for the night in a forest cabin at an undisclosed site in western Siberia and were awakened by a sound of rolling logs. They said they rushed out to the porch and saw the creature they had waited so long to see.

'The day was breaking and we could see everything clearly. I saw in front of me an animal about 2 meters (6 foot, 7-inches) tall, covered with fur some 6 to 7 seven centimeters (2.5 to 3 inches) long,' Brikova said. 'It was covered with so much fur, its lips looked like slits. The fur on its head and face was shorter than that of its body. The palms were red and bare. The creature studied us with great attention. Its eyes were red without any whites, and its ears didn't stick out,' she said.

Radio Moscow said there had been an estimated 5,000 eyewitness accounts of yeti sightings in the Soviet Union, mostly by peasants, drivers, shepherds and other rural people.

The sightings had been reported in the Caucases region, the Altai district of south-central Siberia and the northeastern Yakutia area.

Brikova said she had prepared herself for such an encounter, so that she could have 'a very good look at this creature and examine it thoroughly. There was a distance of 5 meters (16 feet) between us.'

She said it had not been difficult to measure the hairy biped's height because it was standing against a tree.

'We just stood on the porch and didn't move. The creature didn't move either. Then, all of a sudden our dog dashed out, and the creature quickly hid itself in the forest. We looked around for it but never saw it again,' Brikova said. ---

Last month, the leader of Soviet scientific expedition told the official Tass news agency one of the creatures had repeatedly tried to make friendly contact with his reasearch team in the Pamir mountains near the border with Afghanistan.

Igor Tatsl, said his expedition had reported several nocturnal encounters with the yeti, which they had also seen in the twilight at a distance of about 30 meters (90 feet).

Radio Moscow described Brikova's sighting as one of the closest encounters of its kind but did not say whether she had photographed or filmed the human-like creature. Although yetis, also sighted in the Himalayas, are dismissed by many scholars as a myth, some claim they could be a form of hitherto unclassified ape.

Radio Moscow said in the past 60 years, more than 100 specimens of large mammals had been discovered, 'so the most unexpected discoveries are always possible.'

The Soviets set up a special organization at the end of last year to establish contact with the abominable snowman. Its head, Pavel Belenitsky said the group based in Leningrad will embark on an expedition from May to September to try and obtain photographs and video footage.

'We shall not be hunting for the creature. We shall not be trying to get hold of nature's mystery. It is more important to study its psychological traits, its habits, its migration routes, in short its life under natural conditions,' he said.

The ministry of culture recently established a Society of Cryptozoologists to study the possiblity of its existence following the discovery of a report that Marshal Pavel Rybalko, a famed Soviet tank leader, carried a snowman-like creature in a railroad freight car for several days in 1939 during fighting against the Japanese in the Soviet far east.

Soviet authorities also claim there is evidence that Maj. Gen. Alexander Topilsky found a dead snowman after a shootout with White Russian troops in the 1920's during the Russian Civil War.

Cozy Up to Terror by Colin Conway

Cozy Up #7

I absolutely ADORE Beauregard Smith. His name may change along with his job and location but he remains true to type – the strong, silent, stalwart type – that has to rely on old skills though he’d much rather turn over a new leaf. Love him…but not quite like Sophia in the story did.

What I liked:

* Dayle Flanders: born Beauregard Smith, in WITSEC, moves often, trouble magnet, working as a custodian in an amusement park, has enemies after him, reader of mysteries, cat lover, grows in every book, still has a hankering to get see Daphne Winterbourne again.

* Eckleberry: FBI agent that Beau first met and turned rat for, perhaps the best of the government supervisors so far

* The laughs and fun and puns

* Yango the Yeti-Abominable Snowman and escapades he gets up to

* Sophia the ditzy dame at the amusement park with her much more intelligent daughter

* Getting to catch up with Beau and see how he is doing – also finding out his new “handler” is probably inept and going to be trouble in the future

* Thinking about how badly things went and hoping that in REAL life the US Marshals and FBI would be a whole lot more savvy

* Wondering where Beau will end up next and what kind of scrape he will have to deal with

* So much in this story was noteworthy but…advise you start with book one and read them all!

What I didn’t like:

* Who and what I was meant not to like

* Knowing that I will have to wait for awhile to find out what happens in book 8.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes

Would I read more in this series? Definitely
