This is something I've been wanting to explore for a moment. As I assume many of those who use Tumblr are denizens of fandom spaces, I figure that classpecting characters from across all different types of media might be extremely interesting to many. As soon as I properly developed my understanding of classpects, I did begin classpecting characters from medias I was familiar with.

Part of the reason I began classpecting was to prove that a few particular classes and aspects are not necessarily bad, and a few particular classes and aspects are not necessarily good. Finding examples of these classpects in media seemed like a good place to start proving that. We are all human beings, after all, and once I fully analyzed the classes, I understood the angles from which someone of a deemed "bad class" could take good actions for good reasons. Anyone can be a bad person, just like anyone can be a good person.

It is very easy to create an antagonist with surface value actions and traits such as "Thief" or "Destroyer" or "Rage", and this is not necessarily bad writing! I merely wish to argue that classes and aspects that are commonly deemed "good guys" are also extremely intriguing and thought-provoking as antagonists, and classes and aspects that are commonly deemed "bad guys" are also extremely intriguing and thought-provoking as protagonists.

In particular, I have been able to prove this a few times. One of the most interesting, complex, and terrifying villains I've ever seen in a piece of media is an Heir of Hope. Another is a Seer of Breath.

I have yet to find a Prince or Thief protagonist but I will also say that I have not gotten very far in classpecting many characters. Paired with the fact that I'm only really able to classpect from medias I know, I'm certain these characters are out there, and I have yet to find them.

This also brings me to another point. The Master Classes, Lord and Muse, are extremely misunderstood, and I believe this is because human beings simply cannot be Lords or Muses. My current running theory for Lords and Muses is that Lords are a culmination of every Active class, and Muses are a culmination of every Passive class. Human beings may not be able to be these classes, but fictional characters certainly can. These are likely the classes of godly figures, misunderstood beings, or all-powerful entities. IE, things that are not human or meant to represent humanity.

Since I have been focused on classpecting from a realistic standpoint, I have not yet analyzed the Master Classes, because I believe human beings simply cannot be them. However, from a fictional standpoint, anything is possible, though I truly believe the Lord and Muse classes to be rare even within fictional media. It is likely that my analysis of the Master Classes will be highly speculative.

im kinda bummed that i couldnt rlly incorporate their fortes into the classpects in form of powers bcuz that would make this like 3 times more awesome. buuut it would be so hard to try and make it all work in a way that both their personalities And the powers would make sense for them as characters AND the classpects. so i had to choose and i think matching their personalities was more important. idk

im most happy with vivia. i feel like i could find sth better for halara but honestly i kinda dontttt care for halara that much in general so i probably just dont understand them enough to properly analyze them. desuhiko being heart-bound is nearly perfect if u ask me. maybe i could find a better class for him. kurumi as a heir of space is like... fine. i think i made it work and its enough but again theres probs another classpect that fits her better that i just cant figure out! oh well.

i mentioned grimdark vivia but after refreshing my memory on the horrorterrors i realized that they only communicate with derse dreamers. i could go around it somehow and say that maybe bcuz of his connection to ghosts and shit he could access the outer gods DESPITE not dreaming on derse???? idk, its a bit of a stretch. maybe he could have 2 dream selves! a wink towards his forte? this is homestuck we're talking abt. why should i look for logic here.

another idea for his dream self is that i think it would be fun if he could wake up on prospit pre-session despite not being a space player (tho im not 100% sure thats even canonically a space player thing). "hes just special like that" right. lol but yeah this guy would enjoy prospit i think.. snoozing a lot just like jade and escaping into the perfect peaceful moon world... kurumis there too like "how did he GET here" i dunno im just thinking out loud at this point ermmm

The Master Classes and Why They're So Odd

(A Brief Overview of Classes)

(Thoughts on Active vs Passive, with a focus on the Sylph and Maid)

When I first began my research into classpecting, I left the Master Classes alone. My desire regarding classpecting was to provide feasible and realistic descriptions of what human beings are able to be, with enough vague wiggle room that allowed for uncountable variations within each classpect. This wiggle room accounts for just how different we as human beings can be, but also in part, accounts for Lunar Sway.

The Master Classes are also written off in canon; they are the consequence of playing a two-player session of SBURB. So I too wrote the Master Classes off as infeasible, for how could any human being realistically be what a Lord and a Muse are meant to represent?

I still believe it quite close to the realm of impossible for human beings, but I do think the Master Classes can be represented quite well with intention in fiction. They are quite tricky, however. I'm of the opinion that these classes are meant to be very extreme; I would go as far as to say that every Lord and Muse has a true classpect outside of the Master Classes, but that happens to be a personal opinion, so take this statement with a grain of salt.

The Master Classes are not focused on interacting with a particular aspect in a particular way. Rather, they are focused almost entirely on the Active and Passive relationship a class has to an aspect. In short, a Lord is an Active version of every Passive regular class, and a Muse is a Passive version of every Active regular class.

A Lord is Active, focused majorly on a direct relationship with their aspect. They are very active, having all cause words from the passive classes (Know, Change, Use, Allocate, Enhance, Destroy).

A Muse is Passive, focused on the Lord who gives them an indirect relationship with their aspect. They have all the effect words from the active classes (Experience, Embody, Skill, Value, Reliance, Obedience).

My understanding of the Master Classes draws heavily upon my understanding of the regular classes and how I've set them up. I'll attempt to show what I mean below.

Know:

Mage (Active) has Too Much Experience and Knows

Seer (Passive) has Too Little Experience and does not Know

Lord (Active) has Too Little Experience and Knows

Muse (Passive) has Too Much Experience and does not Know

Change:

Witch (Active) has Too Little Embodiment and Changes

Heir (Passive) has Too Much Embodiment and does not Change

Lord (Active) has Too Much Embodiment and Changes

Muse (Passive) has Too Little Embodiment and does not Change

This pattern continues with the other two sets of classes, with Utilizers and Enhancers following the Knowers pattern, and Allocators and Destroyers following the Changers pattern. I will list them below, then summarize the Lord and the Muse separately.

Utilize:

Knight (Active) has Too Much Skill and Utilizes

Page (Passive) has Too Little Skill and does not Utilize

Lord (Active) has Too Little Skill and Utilizes

Muse (Passive) has Too Much Skill and does not Utilize

Allocate:

Thief (Active) has Too Little Value and Takes

Rogue (Passive) has Too Much Value and Gives

Lord (Active) has Too Much Value and Takes

Muse (Passive) has Too Little Value and Gives

A brief note; I've realized that I've mistakenly switched out the Destroyer class' effect word. Where the Enhancers have reliance upon their aspect, the Destroyers have obedience from their aspect. I have switched out the word "obedience" for "control", but it should still make sense within the context of the classes themselves.

Enhance:

Sylph (Active) has Too Much Reliance and Enhances

Maid (Passive) has Too Little Reliance and does not Enhance

Lord (Active) has Too Little Reliance and Enhances

Muse (Passive) has Too Much Reliance and does not Enhance

Destroy:

Prince (Active) has Too Little Control and Destroys

Bard (Passive) has Too Much Control and does not Destroy

Lord (Active) has Too Much Control and Destroys

Muse (Passive) has Too Little Control and does not Destroy

A note on the Bard; the Bard does not destroy personally, but rather allows it to deteriorate. As with all the passive classes, they eventually grow into their cause words and balance themselves out.

As I mentioned before, the Master classes are based on the Active and Passive binary, but they are not the regular classes. Rather, the Master Classes are their mirror counterparts, distinctively NOT inverses. Since their Active and Passive dynamics do not line up with those of the regular classes, the Master Classes get a surface level spread of each class.

The diagram below restates all of this listed information in a different layout. I found the visual layout helpful to refer to when analyzing the Master Classes. (i know tumblrs gonna eat this image quality i am so sorry in advance)

To restate, an "Active Class" means they have a direct relationship with the aspect in question. A "Passive Class" in that case, means they have an indirect relationship with the aspect in question. This means a Muse will always be shaped by the actions of a Lord, and a Lord will always shape a Muse through their actions. They can, but typically do not exist without each other.

To make my findings more readable for the Master Classes, I'll compile only the Lord and only the Muse below.

if u dont know already i am a huge homestuck nerd who LOVES classpecting so it is pretty much inevitable that i will make a homestuck au out of any media im currently into. and raincode is no exception!

so. heres a part one of i think 5 (unless i change my mind and include more than 2 characters per post) featuring yuma and makoto bcuz theyre the protag/main antag duo so its only expected to do them first i think.

ive written their descriptions first so theyre kinda shitty but the general idea is there. plz note that i am by no means a Writer and i do not have great Writing Skills so dont expect many convoluted sentences and stuff. this is mostly just for me and i try so hard to prioritize having fun over sounding cool or smart

heirs are adaptable. they adapt themselves and their aspects to their environment. thanks to his pact with shinigami, the souls of culprits bend to his deduction. he cares so deeply about others, though, that he invites people to change their hearts. the thing that makes yuma as dangerous as he is is that in his pursuit of the truth, he never reaches the bottom of how much he cares.

knights are... also adaptable. just in a different way. they use their aspect as a tool to serve themselves and others with. people either do not like or do not know makoto. he uses the uneasy trust he has with yuma to reach the end her wants for himself, using his knowledge to twist his search of self. makoto is all splinters, its why he wears those masks. his work is tireless, relentless. because he loves kanai ward more than anyone.

Could you do an analysis of the Mage of Time?

The Mage of Time [symbols: brain, gear]

The Mage class has its basis in the classic court magician. An example would be Merlin from Arthurian Legend.

The Time aspect’s main themes are endings and destruction. You can find its official description here.

A Mage of Time is among those who explore physical existence. This is the “classpect group” they belong to. Members include: the Mage, Seer, Heir, and Witch of Space/Time. These classes are all opposites or inverses of each other that explore the Space/Time dichotomy (physical existence). A description of classpect groupings can be found here.

The Mage of Time actively knows the Time aspect. Active classes tell themselves what to do and do so for their own benefit. They are more likely to stand up for themselves, but more likely to be cruel. Mages and Seers possess great knowledge of their aspect and everything it symbolizes. Simplified, the Mage of Time is motivated by themselves to know endings and destruction.

In personality, the Mage of Time has trouble forgiving their own mistakes and has a strong desire for closure. Personality descriptions can be found here.

Their archetype is the Genius Harbinger, defined by introspection, endings, and destruction. Archetypes are explained here.

Their opposite is the Seer of Space, who passively knows creation and beginnings.

Their inverse is the Heir of Space, who passively manipulates creation and beginnings.

A classpect or “god tier” is an individual’s best self. All classpects go through a journey from unrealized, to struggle, to realized. When a character is unrealized, they neutrally exist as their inverse. On their struggle, they will wildly flip back and forth between their inverse and true classpect. In their worst moments they will act as their inverse, in their best their true classpect. When realized, they will stabilize as their true classpect. They will still have room to grow, but will become happier, more successful people.

This means that the Mage of Time begins life motivated by others to manipulate creation and beginnings. When their struggle arrives and they are at their worst, they will continue this behavior in negative extremes. However, when at their best, they will find purpose in instead knowing endings and destruction for themselves. When realized, they will stabilize and continue to know the Time aspect actively, in a positive way.

They share their archetype with the Witch of Mind, the Harbinger Genius.

The Mage of Time would quest on a planet similar to the Land of Thought [Mage] and Time [Aspect]. An example would be the Land of Amnesia and Ruins. An explanation of planet naming conventions can be found here.

Two possible gods, or denizens, to reign over their planet would be Chronos (God of Time) or Hephaestus (God of the Forge). Other Time aspect denizens can be found here.

When the Mage of Time completes their planet quests and dies on their quest bed, they would rise to ascension on the wings of crows (symbols of death). A list of soul animals can be found here.

The characters that I have currently classpected as Mages of Time are: Elliot Patterson from Doom Patrol, the Ninth Doctor from Doctor Who, Saxon Master from Doctor Who, Merlin from Arthurian Legend, Sarah Palmer from Twin Peaks, Fenris from Dragon Age, and Yukio from X-Men.
