so the thing about smosh as a business entity on youtube is that they grew up in a culture where tricky decisions and hard conversations almost always got swept under the rug, outside of the knowledge of viewers. there's a reason why we didn't know how bad things were under defy until the entire company popped.
but even starting under mythical, it became clear to me that this is still the sort of culture that smosh continues to operate under. if you were following smoshblr around 2018-2020, you know that there were a lot of extremely relevant issues that fans cared about that smosh NEVER openly addressed or acknowledged. things like:
the original smosh games group saying they weren't given the same stake in the smosh company as others after mythical bought them
sohinki and boze pointing to matt raub as someone who treated them poorly within the company, while matt raub's presence in videos grew
hugely influential talent such as mari stepping away from smosh and feeling underappreciated because of how promptly and coldly things ended
zero transparency in handling sexual harrassment allegations against past talent
a lack of racial diversity in thumbnails and promotional content
smosh streaming on twitch, a platform for smaller, more indie creators/personalities, and keeping vods behind a paywall
i'm probably forgetting some other things but my point is that it would not surprise me at all if smosh either does nothing about noah or quietly lets him go as part-time talent, instead of releasing a statement that adequately addresses the reasonable concerns of fans who stand with palestine — because smosh has continually proven that they do not make public, company-wide statements on things that are just more than slightly inconvenient for them.
do i blame them? i mean, yeah. they're a youtube channel whose brand success hugely hinges on relatability, genuineness, and an intimate connection to the viewers. but in 2020 i personally had to reckon with the reality that smosh is indeed a business, and it's a large one at that. it makes tricky decisions quietly because for them, online discourse dies quickly enough and it's safer for the whole of their company and their employees to not fan those flames, especially if it means one of their own getting burned.
i do not watch the majority of smosh content nowadays. i tune into a few videos here and there. i understand that it's no longer personally relatable to me and that i now prefer watching content that feels more intimate and creatively passionate. i don't really get upset at smosh directly anymore because i've reformed my expectations of them as content creators.
i guess i'm saying all this because i know people want to love smosh and its content and its cast, and as a fellow obsessive fangirl of things, i want them to be able to love all of it wholeheartedly. but i feel bad that fans are anguished, waiting for something that i deeply suspect smosh will never give them. i hope i post this and i hop on instagram and i see i'm proven wrong lol. but really i just hope that me saying this will prevent some of the prolonged heartbreak that can come in caring about smosh as more than a content creation business. that's all

Answering the other anon’s question about Saige and Damien with what I’ve gathered from the internet…heads up, this is long! Sorry in advance!
First, I need to preface this by saying, this information is provided to satisfy curiosity only. This new community being cultivated seems to keep discussions to themselves and leave the Smosh cast alone, which is awesome. When this stuff first happened, Saige stans and Damien stans took sides and started being toxic and spreading rumors and misinformation. Really don’t want that to happen here. Warning done? Cool!
Saige started working at Smosh at the beginning of 2021. Damien stated in a stream that he quickly developed a crush on her. It’s not clear when they first started dating but by November 2021, they had moved in together and confirmed their relationship. They made regular appearances on each other’s streams (clearly in different rooms of the same residence). They did couple’s costumes in Halloween and in his end of the year post for 2021, Damien called Saige the “love of his life”.
Damien bought Saige concert tickets to a show she wanted to see, they would show snippets of their outings (a picnic, the Ren faire), and they travelled to Italy together.
Professionally, SmoshGames partnered with Twitch in the fall of 2020. Saige had started PixelCircus at the same time but it was just beginning so I think she agreed to be hired by Smosh to help with their Twitch content. I think the streams did modestly. There was some drama about how it was clear SmoshGames was just in it for the money versus “normal” streamers being in it for the community. (I think at the end of the day, any monetized channel is in it for the money but that’s another story.) Speculation also arose around doing things live on Twitch causing issues for the cast and scheduling. Regardless, what happened was SmoshGames ended their Twitch streaming in March 2022. Saige started appearing in less content although she still went with Smosh to Vidcon 2022. I don’t think she was as visible as everyone else though. Matt Raub left Smosh in July 2022. This is speculation but I assume he had something to do with hiring Saige so with him gone and the Twitch gone, I think Smosh decided not to continue with Saige. They also hired Angela, Chanse and Arasha at this time.
Saige didn’t get an official departure notice, but people started to notice she wasn’t in Smosh content. She confirmed only in October 2022 that she no longer worked for Smosh. In the meantime, I think her content creation and viewership with PixelCircus picked up. She was going to more tabletop conventions and whatnot. At one point, she had to quarantine from Damien because she caught something at one of them.
Their exact breakup date is not public. Presuming that Damien is a supportive partner, it’s telling that he liked all her IG posts before September 12, 2022 and nothing after. Again, it’s not confirmation of anything but it’s likely they broke up some time after that. Saige also mentioned in her fall 2022 streams that she was moving. (This is much later but they completely unfollowed each other on social media by May 2023.)
When Saige confirmed to her fans that she left Smosh in October 2022, I assume some of her fans thought something was wrong with Smosh. Saige fed the flames by stating in her discord that while she didn’t say anything that “isn’t lawyer approved”, “everything else is a guess or logical conclusion of an intelligent community”. This wasn’t great but what really stirred things in up was a fan making accusations about Smosh being toxic except for Damien in November of 2022 and Saige LIKING that tweet. At this point, I think the bridges were burned and connections severed.
You can leave a company but you probably shouldn’t support someone calling your ex, your former workplace and his coworkers/friends toxic if you want to maintain any sort of relationship. From that point on, I think they just don’t acknowledge each other. Damien and Saige were both at GenCon this year even and promoted completely separate events.
So, that’s what I know. Mostly pulled from Twitter, some Tumblr and IG sleuthing. Saige and Damien did seem happy so I’m sad they didn’t work it out and this is how the relationships, both personal and professional, ended.
It’s not really clear why Damien and Saige’s personal relationship ended. It might seem like it was because she stopped working at Smosh but we’ll never really know. In my personal judgement, from afar and definitely with incomplete information, it does seem like Saige is a bit immature. Maybe a bit of a narcissist. Around this time too, Damien started to experience some breakthroughs and epiphanies about his neurology and mental health, so that may have helped him realize if he was in any unhealthy situations. (Since he’s neurospicy, kind and socially awkward, I think he was probably easy to take advantage of.)
Anyway, hope this answers the previous anon’s question. At the end of the day, I hope both of them continue to improve their mental health and find happiness. It just won’t be with each other.
Dang. That's a long one! Thanks for all the info anon. Also don't forget that this already happened for quite awhile now and all of them already moved on. I can see both of them already happy with the way their chose and i'm happy for them.

Yeah I don't think that Smosh, with 26M subscribers, three other channels, billions of views and nearly a decade of history, is 'less successful' than pressalike. I know a lot of people want to blame everything on anthony and pressalike because they're the only change to smosh that's visible to the audience but Dani was also interacting on anthony's posts recently and he's the only one of the 4 still following her. Everyone else who's left has done so on good terms and it's not like smosh sans pressalike had a perfect record with employees leaving (e.g. Saige)
To be fair to the previous anon I think it was the perception of successful of Smosh compared to Pressalike. Prior to the reunion, Smosh main channel was struggling for views and things, and Anthony's ISADW show was considered more successful.
I do agree that way too much is blamed on Anthony. Even prior to this situation with Dani leaving, he was being blamed for a lot of things such as Jackie, Kimmy, Heidi leaving, etc.
Bringing up Saige is a good point. Smosh itself as a company is not perfect either with Saige, the Smosh Games crew, Matt Raub, etc.

Curious why you’re upset Smosh is silent on Palestine but not any other global war happening right now. Yes what’s happening in Palestine is horrible, but so is what’s happening in Ukraine, Haiti, Sudan, Iraq, etc. Palestine isn’t the only country under siege and it says a lot that people are getting upset about this one because they have a Jewish cast member who made some really uninformed tweets about supporting Israeli civilians and liked a few Zionist hinting tweets that he unliked. I can’t think of a single instance where Smosh got vocal or involved about a political war. Yes they talk about social politics but that’s very different from something as sensitive and intricate as an actual ongoing genocide.
did you not read entirely what i wrote or not comprehend it, anon? Like I know english isn't my first language, but I thought it was pretty clear.
USA is actively helping Israel with billions of the money that get from the tax of US citizens as well as weapons.
The cast are US citizen - idk maybe the fact that their money is funding genocide should concern them and they should speak against it as people who have a big platform?
I mean it'd be lovely if they speak on every single bad current event that's happening in the world but l don't think they'll be that invested.
But being invested in what your country is "helping" be done to another country perhaps is good to be your priority, especially for people who are so vocal about politics and voting. Their president is complicit in war crimes and genocide. They're on side with literal fascist.
Also as a whole US was an active participant in the creation of Israel. And they sure do great smear campaigns to keep people "at bay".
And the point about Noah - I've posted multiple times about his actions. He didn't only like a few zionist tweets. He bragged about his great-grandfather being part of the creation of Israel - which tell me, anon, how it was achieved? Ah, yes - through stealing the land of the people there and either killing them or making them refuges aka the Nakba. Which again was with the help of USA.
He had also twitted, a while ago, about going to his birthright trip. But you won't be able to find it now cus people back then told him that it is all propaganda to make jews "oh so proud of the jewish state". He covered his tracks and had deleted the tweets.
He was raised a zionist. He's not simply a misguided little boy. He's a grown man with access to so much information yet he chose to be ignorant for YEARS.
People who are trying to find excuses for him - just simply block me, cus I'm not supporting him until he makes it clear he had changed his views.
But honestly anon I don't expect that much from them - they didn't even address the whole situation with Matt Raub when it was happening and kept him working there until he left on his own (and that very much wasn't a defy issue cus they sure like to blame 99% of their fuck ups on them - yes, they were horrible but even before defy was there smosh certainly wasn't the wisest when it came to some issues). I'm just a person expressing their frustation.
Peace out

As Smosh members have slowly put out their company photos we now seem to have confirmation that C has joined the Pit bts crew which I think most had guessed that is where they would end up. S and C working a little closer together now!
Loved all the new Pit crew photoshoot! Here is the link to more hi-res picture via Kiana's social (IG, Twitter)
