@nananarc, Heartlocked. 2024, Jan. Digital art. Third commission in series for Await the Dawn.
Please scroll down for the astonishing color variation below ❤️🔥
It’s such a lovely piece. Any words I can conjure up can only ossify in the face of your marvel, Na. I stared at it so long that when I close my eyes their absence is etched on my retina.
Them 🥺
Now thinking back to the sketch of my initial vague idea (which I knew has very immature comp and irreconcilable lines), I see the unnecessary sentimentality in it, whereas this piece demands the eye, its vortices of strange longing washed in electric blue, perfect values.
I don’t know what else to say other than:
It’s the little death one gets after finishing the right kinda book; feeling of a perceptive profundity, some nameless change being incubated by the creativity and masterly expression of the artist. It’s more than a visual experience. It’s moving. Perhaps as you said, it’s one of the best pieces yet—though I have no doubt, it will be surpassed by a multitude of your works to come.
Alternative colors below the cut:
I want this framed on my wall 💜💜💜

On: “Guys, I absolutely hate to say it, for what it does to the Bad Kids and to our worldbuilding, Fabian is undeniably the most popular kid in school who is also getting straight A grades”
I went to an extremely tiny high school that was set up kind of like Augefort - project based and with heavy encouragement to figure things out yourself. And because of that system the kids who were the “coolest” ended up being the most accomplished ones who seemed to be taking advantage of every opportunity the school gave them.
That isn’t to say those “cool” students werent “bad kids”. I in particular was extremely engaged in the school community to the point where I was voted as a student speaker at graduation due to just knowing everyone, but it was also common knowledge that I was a stoner doomer with insomnia. The fact that I was high every moment that I wasn’t actively engaged in an academic activity and exclusively wore pajamas to class coexisted with members of the faculty and administration regularly reaching out to me to plan campus events like prom and graduation.
Anyway, my point is high school is such a mismatch of social environments and aspects of identity that it is absolutely not contradictory for world building for a “bad kid” with the party house to do dance and be a straight A student.

I have dreamed about Maul, fighting with a Morgenstern and a shield in an arena AND shirtless… I can tell it was pretty hot and intense
