10.22.23 - colosseum… slight Wes and Rui redesign. HC that even post-purification Lugia retains the pale aspects + red eyes (which is actually ocular damage) of its Shadow form, giving it a silvered appearance to match its Shiny counterpart.

Part 4 of me redesigning Eeveelutions!

Today I complete the OG trio with Vaporeon!

So! First of all design process!

I wanted generally all Eeveelutions to have a somewhat different mammal inspiration (Flareon a lion, Jolteon a dog, Sylveon a Fennec fox, etc), like Eevee being just a vague mammal pokemon.

So Vaporeon's mammal inspiration is an otter! I love otters quite a bit and honestly, we need more otter pokemon. However, it's not only an otter, I also mixed a bit of axolotl and fish in there.

I honestly find the 'fin ears' to be a bit overdone when it comes to 'aquatic creatures' (which probably wasnt the case back in gen 1), so axolotl fins it is. I also distributed the colors more evenly. One thing that bothers me greatly about OG Vaporeon is how all the interesting design details are on the face. Especially with how beautiful and colorful fish can be.

Just to be clear, this is not a hate on the original design. I'm going at this with more of a 'what if the Eeveelutions were made today' angle with my own spin on it.

I was also going with a completely different vibe. OG Vaporeon gives me 'athlete swimmer', while my redesign was going for a 'exploring sea' kinda vibe. I was also going for a more cuddly and cute Vaporeon.

My favourite eeveelutions are Vaporeon, Espeon, and Sylveon. Now guess which I assigned to my faves?

Nate is assigned Vaporeon (that goes all the way back. He also happens to have the water type association)

Victor is assigned Sylveon (the highest honour. And he’s the fairy type association)

I picked mostly because they're always shown to be so calm in media and I do get along with Ice types!#Medicham is tricky to explain but I like meditating and both Mistress and I use it so maybe I could get along with one of those too?#And for Poison: I chose Haunter over Gastly and Gengar purely because I like their looks better!
