people so often interpret sazed as taako’s ex, which like, to each their own obviously, nothing wrong with that, but i think its so so much more interesting to interpret him as taako’s apprentice instead. and like all we have to go on is that he really looked up to taako who sort of taught him how to cook. “thought taako hung the moon and stars” or something like that iirc. which brings so much more depth to taako’s relationship with angus if sazed was to taako then what angus is to taako now, someone who idolized him and saw him as a mentor.
it puts some of the conversations taako’s had with angus into really interesting context. like the fact that the first person taako’s (ever?) told about what happened at glamour springs (which he didnt know at the time, but was sazed’s fault) is angus. does he tell angus because he doesn’t want him to be betrayed (like he assumes sazed was, since he ran away)? or because he doesn’t want angus learning from someone so clearly unfit to be a mentor (both since he was unfit to be sazed’s, because he was dismissive to him, and because he believes himself to be a murderer)? he teaches angus magic and cooking. when he implies that angus might become as or more skilled than him he jokes about striking him down. which is exactly what he did to sazed when he wanted equal share.
but taako redeems himself with angus. he mistreats angus in the beginning, bullying him and dismissing him and generally being a dick, but as angus becomes taako’s apprentice, he’s more open and a little nicer. still “open” and “nice” in his own way, but definitely more than he was before. learning from his mistake, letting angus in and being encouraging and honest in the way he wasn’t with sazed.
idk. i think it’s so interesting and so rarely explored

Crazy how the two main villains of Storm Bringer are people who try to take away Chuuya's autonomy and dehumanize him and claim they are his family as a way to justify it.
Verlaine thinking himself as Chuuya's brother and killing the people he's close to and destablizing his support system and throwing his control of his own ability off so that he can step in and make Chuuya reliant on him all in the name of protecting him. Because Verlaine genuinely thinks he's doing what's best for Chuuya.
N however claims that he is Chuuya's father so that he can decieve him back into being an experiment. The lab scene is so messed up not only because of the unexpected brutal torture part but like, N almost succeeded in re-brainwashing Chuuya.. and N is so insidious, justifies all of the inhumane things he does as for the benefit of the state.
Idk. N and Verlaine are foils in a way. They think they are doing the right thing but one of them is definitely is more sympathetic than the other..

No i mean its actually so so so funny that they never tried for a second to push for or even lightly imply a merlin/morgana romance (which would be the formulaic thing to do, given that the other two leads were already paired up). They just couldnt do it. They had to be like ok we have to be real here.. not only is he gay and not only is she a lesbian, but they absolutely despise each other. Obsessed with their dynamic

it just occurred to me, martin wilby is the alex rider tv show's ash. there's a line in season 1 where the department is talking about wilby being responsible for ian's death and how ian “thought the world of him.”
very similar to how ash was responsible for john (and helen's) death, but john very clearly loved the guy. enough to make him alex's godfather and save his life. another very interesting parallel for the rider brothers.
ash and wilby are different to each other however. at least ash had somewhat more of a reason to join scorpia? a vendetta against alan blunt. wilby just straight up wanted money. yassen gregorovich stabbed both of them though.

One thing I really like from old 3d games is how they modeled creatures. they all have this cuteness to them that you dont really get idk. just thinking about hl1 headcrabs and burricks from thief 1 + 2. theres just something about that era and making the silliest motherfuckers known to man

Wait hold on, in his anniversary video Barbatos mentions the mc being the brother's attendant?
But in the other videos, it's implied that they don't remember the mc leaving (which is actually something im very disappointed about and really hope isnt the case in the actual story)
In these two specifically, it seems like they aren't aware of the mc's presence in the past/alternate timeline/whatever it is. The only other person who seems like they know is Lucifer
Which also lines up with the end of lesson 40, where he's the only one who says welcome back? So like?? Do only him and Barbatos know? Did they not tell anyone?? Diavolo would probably know as well but I haven't seen anything to show that yet. Anyways I don't really like where this is going, I would really prefer they not make everyone forget the mc disappeared
