OC- Chloe Smith-McMannon

This is Chloe, my MC. She's 16-17 at the start of the game. Calling her a prep is an UNDERSTATEMENT. She adores being social and surrounded by the people she loves and cares about.

Backstory under the cut

When she and her twin brother, Chase, were four, they were taken out of their home and placed into the foster care system because their mother was NOT fit to raise a child, let alone two. For around two years, the two bounced around the foster system. While none of the families were bad, the twins learned that the only person that they could get attached to was each other.

When they turned six, they went to live with the McMannons. Before the first week was over, it became clear that this was their family. Stacy and Jill are both extremely loving and supportive- giving an overwhelming amount of kindness and support to Chloe when she got the courage to come out as trans to them.

They lived in South Carolina for a long time, things going smoothly. Chloe and Chase still clung to each other, but they learned how to branch out and create lives of their own as well. Until the end of their sophomore year. Chloe had been out to her best friend of three years, but when her friend's crush seemed more into Chloe- she outed her. Suddenly the entire school turned on her, and it got bad enough that the entire family agreed that it would be best to move somewhere more supportive for a fresh start. Within the next three months, with Chloe being homeschooled in the meantime, they found a new house and new jobs near a newly opened high school.

Right as they started to settle in and began to prepare for their new school, Chase got the opportunity to go on a year-long trip to Europe for an exchange program. Originally he didn't plan on going, but despite her fear of being alone- Chloe encouraged him to take the chance because she knew it was a dream of his.

Even though she was the one to tell him to go, she still had trouble letting go at the airport. Her moms showered her in love, but she still withdrew and kept to herself the week leading up to her first week.

Everything changed when she met Autumn. This girl was one of the kindest and most beautiful people Chloe had ever met, and the two clicked together quickly. It didn't take long for Autumn to become her best friend and favorite person in the entire universe. She's actually the first person Chloe comes out to at the school, telling her while they were getting ice cream on the boardwalk. Both of them cried tears of joy (Autumn because Chloe trusted her so much, and Chloe because she finally felt safe enough to do so after everything that happened at her old school.)

While she loves Payton from the beginning, it's not until Chloe finds out that she was also adopted that the two start to get really close. The more they talk, the more the girls find they have in common. Chloe is able to keep Payton focused and down to earth, and Payton is always able to get Chloe out of her head and back in the moment. Describing her as a friend feels wrong, because Payton is exactly the sister Chloe has always wanted.

Beckett was also a wonderful new experience for Chloe. She had dated in the past, but she had never felt so understood by someone else. For a few months the two dated, going on adventures and encouraging each others silliness. Sadly, Chloe's life starts to get too hectic and she doesn't have enough time to be the partner Beckett deserves. They part on good terms and are still best friends.

She dates Mia for like a week just to piss off Mia's parents. They went on a bunch of cute dates and took A TON of photos, but neither was actually romantically interested in the other. Now they just hang out and gossip without the pretense. Mia always pays, ESPECIALLY after Chloe sees how much money she has after Mia's quest.

And then she meets Hannah. Hannah who is so beautiful and who understands Chloe on a level that no one has before. Neither of them has the time to see the other as much as they want, but they make do. Though they eventually part on good terms, Hannah will always hold a very special place in Chloe's heart. She still gets a warm feeling in her chest every time she looks at the stars- remembering the nights they would go stargazing together. Fingers interlocked and the grass under them, those nights meant more to Chloe than anyone could imagine.

Wes is unlike anyone Chloe would expect herself to fall for. When he comes to her school, she can't trust him as far as she can throw him- but still makes it clear that she's willing to give him a chance. He starts to call her 'Sunshine' sarcastically, but the nickname sticks and the meaning changes. They start off as friends, since Wes gets back with Autumn pretty soon after he joins the school and Hannah and Chloe start seeing each other not long after. Still, the two start to bond on a level neither of them expected. Wes realizes there's a lot more to Chloe than he thought, and Chloe sees under Wes's harsh exterior and sees just how much he cares about those close to him. The more they hang out, the closer the two get. Eventually, Wes starts to realize that his feelings for his two favorite people (other than his brother) are starting to change. Or that they had already changed a long time ago. He and Autumn go to each other on the same day to have the same conversation- that they still love each other but that the love has changed into something more platonic and permanent. It's about a month after the breakup that the two get together.

What power does the MC & ROs have?

MC: Nullification. They nullify/“erase” the ability of anybody they touch.

Mav: Power Mimicry. Basically the opposite of the MC! He can “absorb” the powers of anybody he touches. He has “absorbed” around 25 abilities by the beginning of the game.

Carmen: Adaptation. Her body naturally adapts to any environment! Think Darwin from Marvel.

Silas: Density Control. It’s pretty self explanatory. He can manipulate the density of anything he touches.

Payton: Mental Control. Stuff like empathy, telepathy, persuasion, etc.

Juno: Healing. She can heal/fix practically any injury as long as the person isn’t dead.

Amari: Technopathy! Basically electricity/technology control. Kinda like Katai from BSD.

I got inspired by the lovely @hsslilly-blog to do moodboards for my characters, but I also wanted to add some drabbles and a playlist too!

My headcanon version of HSS prime is an amalgamation of all of the high school-set Choices books set in the HSS prime timeline.

Here's a little more about Atlas:

He's inspired by Iain Armitage from Young Sheldon, Chris Colfer in his later-Glee years, and Troye Sivan in his Blue Neighbourhood era.

His real classmate type in the game would be wallflower, but he's classified MC-wise as a prep.

He lives in an apartment downtown with his father, and he's an only child. His parents amicably divorced before he was two years old, and he's lived with his father ever since. He has a great relationship with both of his parents, even though he only sees his mom every so often.

His favorite subjects in school are geometry, creative writing and visual art.

He hopes to be an architect one day, but he has a back-up plan of being a lawyer like his father.

As far as athletics go, he's the captain of the co-ed field hockey team and is a member of the varsity co-ed basketball team. He also loves watching baseball, ice hockey, soccer, and cheer competitions.

He has a lot of friends at Berry High, but he's closest to Julian, Payton, Ezra, and Kallie.

Monty Payton, huh. 🤨 When Arthur wakes up from his 1500 year sleep to find the world completely apocalypsing, that's probably not going to be high on the priority list.

Now if Merlin discovers that Lucid Dreamer MC has been quoting Monty Python to Camelot Arthur... now that's a horse of an entirely (perhaps invisible) color!

also, im just so delighted and slightly culture shocked at a Cooking Endeavor actually being done By mc and co and Succeeding. since last solo event was luke and mc's disastrous stew, and then marius and mc just doing some groceries for payton who cooked the food for them ajkhfsvkjfvasj. god bless artem and his cooking skill and his FANCY ASS KITCHEN (complete with matching apron set, my god he is SUCH a wife)

Book 2: Drop of esteem...

(From my MC and the books series ← Here)

Winter Quarter for Solrin was rough. Dealing with the Michael/Maria situation, Isa's reign of terror, Coach Andrew, the hall monitors, the friendship troubles, Ms Hughs & Mr Burkes leaving- it was a lot for my girl.

Chapter 1- 6 my girl was a mess.

First half of the book- immediately she was burning out.

Her favourite principal was gone, she found out about Coach Burkes leaving, she found out About the Hall Monitor initiative, she found out about Michael being gone, finding out Maria and Michael were getting close too without knowing why, and having to do study & work along with it all... She was burning out badly.

Michael and Maria looking like they were getting closer had made her drop her flirty-ness with Michael, being more friendly then romantic (per say) with him, as she thought they were romantic and she didn't want to be a 'relationship-wrecker', oh hell no.

She also legit cried the night after learning her 2 favourite adults (besides Ms Maddox) were gone. On FaceSpace she put up a status saying "I'm a child of sudden orphanage" and "my second parents left me" in her bio. She loved Hughs and Burkes and looked up to them greatly.

After the carnival chapter- she was then just exhausted. She didn't put much effort in Basketball, especially after the funding ordeal, she stopped hanging out with everyone as much, she spent most of her time scrolling through comps of Vines, she also was dealing with the stress of taking care of herself as caring for her wellbeing was far too much. She'd rather hibernate in her bedroom and eat pizza and string cheese then get up and take care of her body and mind. She was depressed dude.

She dropped out of the basketball team during the chapters 9-13 as she couldn't handle it. Especially with team tensions between Cheer & Band & sports growing.

She was just... Exasperated throughout the whole book. Talk about a seasonal depression.

Despite chapter 14-15 being the most fun she finally had during this quarter, and with Michael's confession during the party, she couldn't exactly get with him yet. She was going through severe mind processing, and she couldn't take a serious relationship at that moment. She still was dating him, but only during the events of 'in between' book 2 did she fully get official with the BF/GF label.

All in all- book 2 was an emotional rollercoaster, she was depressed, she was sad, she was lonely- girl went from the most confident girl in school to the most quiet and barely emotive girlie ever.

At least she got better after the Party at Payton's.
