It annoys me that nobody mentions this

I agree that Captain America in the comics is not representative of only USA but of what USA should be, so what Anthony Mackie said is completely in line with the comics and therefore I have nothing to say to disagree with creators like straw_hat_goofy about when they speak on this topic. The thing I never saw tho is anyone pointing out that MCU is not trying to preach this idea. MCU is very much into "Captain America is about America" and the only time they try not to be is in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier with America trying to pawn off John Walker as their new Captain America and even then all of the actions of John Walker are VERY reminiscent of actions of Steve in Civil War. The only difference is that Steve stopped himself before he actually killed someone (i.e. Tony in the bunker fight, there is a split second when you can see him changing trajectory of his hit with a shield to not target Tony's neck but his reactor instead). Still, it doesn't change the fact that in the Civil War Steve is definitely acting in the way that benefits the worst people in the USA. I said it many times before and I will say it again UN is not perfect, it's very flawed, the fact that Russia and USA have so much power in it is insane, but UN is still better when it comes to human rights than USA or Russia ever will be. So it's hard to believe that UN would write a document let alone a treaty that would remove human rights from people because it'd violate their own regulations and people would obviously protest that. But even if they did, Tony was already trying to get control over the bad situation but what Steve did? Steve fucked it all up, proved to Ross that enhanced people are dangerous and thanks to that possibly made everyone's lives worse. I see nobody in those "Anthony Mackie was right" videos actually admitting that Steve in the Civil War was not acting in the best interest of the people but was acting as a selfish guy who didn't want to be constrained by any laws or regularions which to many people outside of America is very much reminiscent of USA's typical behavior abroad, where they do whatever the fuck they want. So to us here, MCU Steve behaves as if he was America itself. He is brutish, stubborn and doesn't back down until he gets what he wants.

Still the most annoying thing of it all is that MCU and Marvel as a whole assume that other countries don't have their own heroes and would need people from America to intervene and help them. When Steve says that I literally look at him and want to scream "who asked for your fucking charity" because ok, wanting to help other people and countries is ok, but it can also very quickly become patronizing. As if other countries were helpless little babies that need America's help.

Regardless tho if countries have their own superhero teams or not, it's dangerous to have them under national banner because you can never know how rulership in a country will change, who will come into the power and how they will try to use those heroes for their own gain, so having them operate outside national control, under an international body or group is better, because they also can't just simply operate without any oversight or any rules or structure. It'd be too chaotic. Someone or something must exist to take responsibility for them as it'd also be too dangerous to make them shoulder it individualy. It's not safe. The court of public opinion would simply crush them otherwise.

Just not under WSC, they're wack.

Okay, so I watched The Thunderbolts* and I loved it, but I've unironically fallen down the sentryagent hole. I've read almost all the fics ao3 has of them (the devil works hard, but ao3 writers work harder n all that, like seriously you ppl are fast & im grateful) all this to say, where there is fanfic there is a/b/o. I would so appreciate someone writing sentryagent a/b/o, I won't even try to justify myself. I'd just like to see it is all and I'd be most grateful and happy to whomever takes on such a challenge. Look. I really don't like John Walker but I totally understand his anger during his trial (which wasn't even a trial, the decision was already made).

"I only ever did what you asked, what you told me to be and trained me to do, and I did it. And I did it well !"

He works for the Army since so long and he obeyed orders properly and he rose to the top by doing so many unspeakable and horrible things ( "three badges of excellence to make sure I never forget the worst day of my life" S1:E4). I'm sure he has hard time to sleep at night but he did everything he thought was right -everything they told him was right- and he's still here. He still waits for new orders and he's still ready to follow this path because that's what he's supposed to do.

"You built me."

They gave him a gun, an uniform, a team, then the shield with the star. They gave him orders and plans. They made him. They built him. And now they're throwing him away for a single mistake (a big and unforgivable mistake I agree with that) as if he's a broken doll. But they built him broken therefore it's as much their fault than his.

He lost his best friend because what he was conditioned to see as a dangerous extremist who has to be eliminated quickly couldn't control her strength, and now he lost his shield (THE SHIELD THEY GAVE HIM) and his title (that he didn't ask for) and the public's trust (who praised him a few days ago), and his place in the government army (who BUILT HIM PIECE BY PIECE).

I'm not going to say that he's just another Bucky who doesn't deserve that hate- because he does deserve it. I'm saying that he has the right to feel angry and betrayed by the very same society he used to fight for, by the government he was actively trying to protect when he made that mistake. He's wrong, but they built him in a way he can't be right. They made him broken then got surprised when he broke and hurt other people, and they threw him away.

YES the Thunderbolts have a fantastic team as family dynamic, yes they are living in Avengers tower, yes history is repeating itself and 2012 tower fics are so back. BUT!

instead of "Alexei eating poptarts" or "Yelena in the vents", we must come up with new headcanons and make history

(He threw out Yelena's frosted flakes and it took both Bucky and John to get her to stop attacking him)

Ava likes to phase and sneak attack her teammates at random. She claims it's for training but really she just thinks it's funny hearing them scream

John gets blamed for everything, even if it isn't his fault. Especially if it isn't his fault: "who ate the last bagel?" "John." "Where's my hair straightener?" "John had it." "Whose turn is it to unload the dishwasher?" "Johnnnn"

No but to be serious guys i didnt expect that movie to be that kind of good. I expected great fights. I expected complicated morals. I did not expect that movie to say i know everything seems hopeless but you dont get a choice, you have to try. I did not expect that movie to say when we are up against an impossible, unjust threat the only way through is freely given kindness and forgiveness. I did not expext that movie to say the real way villans win is by preying on those we’ve already decided are hopeless. I did not expect that movie to say we all have to believe we can get better. Please believe me we can all get better. Oh my god.
