Aziraphale is a victim of abuse

Oh boy let me talk about how clearly Aziraphale mirrors a victim of abuse. Warning for spoilers obviously.

Throughout season 1 and 2, we are shown clear examples of Aziraphale being ridiculed and abused by the Archangels. They tore down Aziraphale's confidence and made him believe he was "soft" and "useless". The things they said to Aziraphale sound a lot like the comments Nina received by her abusive partner Lindsay.

And, like Nina, he needs to realize how to heal from that trauma. Because unlike Nina, Aziraphale once again fell for abusive and manipulative tactics, namely Metatron's love bombing.

Metatron came and told him that this time, things will be different because Aziraphale will be the one in charge, subsequently validating Aziraphale's belief that the problem isn't Heaven and Hell as institutions, it's the people running those institutions that are the real issue. This is a very clever way to manipulate Aziraphale and it's also very realistic, as victim's of abuse often go back to their abuser. Why?

Abusers manipulate their victims into thinking that 1. they NEED to stay because they would be nothing without their abuser and 2. that this time it will be different and that they love them (see. Metatron offering that Aziraphale run Heaven and finally saying what Aziraphale's always wanted to hear: "You did the right thing"), also known as love bombing. It's what makes leaving a destructive relationship so hard, because deep down victims cling onto the hope that things will get better eventually.

Abusers also destroy their victim's other relationship, leaving them without a support network and no one to turn to once the abuse inevitably starts again. Metatron did just that, he KNEW Crowley would be upset, and as soon as he was able to he belittled Crowley ("He always wanted to do things his own way" and "He asked too many questions"), subtly discouraging Aziraphale from doing the same. By doing what he did he effectively cut off Aziraphale from the one person who could change his mind. It also means he has an easier time getting Aziraphale to do his bidding, because now, Aziraphale feels like he has nowhere to go to if he wants to leave Heaven.

Metatron, as an extension of Heaven, is the abuser, and Aziraphale is the victim. Crowley already knows Heaven and Hell are toxic, but Aziraphale hasn't realized that yet. I believe that season 3 (pray we get one), will focus heavily on how that abuse and manipulation will continue until Aziraphale learns to stand up for himself, and finally leave the relationship which has hurt him for so long.

Sweet reminder from my thesis.

Sophia is not only LoP's version of the Blue fairy. She also shares many traits with her. The blue hair is one, especially since it is described as 'dark blue' in the book and what hair color does she have at the end of 'Rise of P'? Dark blue. Also the hairstyle and length of the hair is really similar at this point. Another thing is that her dress seems to be a more elegant version of the Blue Fairy's dress/gown. And... I know it is a reference to a famous statue... The way she holds P in the 'Rise of P'-Ending, is similar to when the blue Fairy carried Pinocchio to her bed.

Something about 2 beers for the growing romance and ongoing companionship between buck and eddie

Something about 3 s’mores for the family unit that’s forming but hasn’t quite taken shape yet

Buck is sleeping on the beers (aka growing relationship/romance) and entirely missing from the s’mores (aka the new family unit)

Chris is sleeping on the s’mores. Because the third one was about shannon who’s gone (aka living in the past) and for buck who’s so close but not there yet (aka the partner and parent to be in the future). Now I’m remembering “Future Tense”. Anyone?!

Chris isn’t awake to eat his s’more because then that would be like him and eddie communing with shannon and their previous family (that has since literally passed away). No. Chris can’t wake up and have a s’more until he’s having it with the current family ie eddie buck and chris together on the couch watching la novela.

Also Chris is sleeping on the het marriage depicted in the novela they were watching. A het marriage shaped/defined the Diaz family…before now. But just like shannon, that’s a thing of the past. Loved and cherished but no more. So Chris falls asleep on it. Resting until something new and more accurate to their current family comes along tomorrow.

Stars update

I should probably explain myself since a few people have asked...my life is insanely busy right now. Work stress is a LOT and I don't even know if I will have a job next year because they are cutting my program. So my heart has been incredibly heavy because I will say goodbye to the job that truly brought "me" back. I love the kids and I get to teach the thing I am passionate about. And next year it will be gone. So I'm hurting over that.

I do have 3k words of hot garbage first draft though!!

The other reason is that we are right in the middle of the busiest time of the entire season for my son's hockey team...he's 8 years old and he's the starting goalie for his team. There have been games every weekend and now tournaments. We go to Buffalo, NY tomorrow for another tournament! I am really looking forward to it, tournament weekends are always fun.

Thank you for your post about Aziraphale and his arc it’s killing me that so much of his characterization is being so misunderstood by people in the fandom. He’s clearly loves and adores Crowley just as much as Crowley loves him he’s just so manipulated by the systems he knows and by his own hope for the Good. 😭

So I really appreciate the two McLaren drivers as teammates.

If anyone was Oscar, you'd feel, like, indignant, and angry. Like, hello, it's my home race? You're making me let my teammate by? Like, I'd be like that. And I won't say names, but I think we can all think of one or two drivers on the grid we could totally picture getting mad about it.

But no. He looks at it critically, recognizes the good in the result, and why it was a smarter decision to let Lando past, and accepts it. Puts aside the emotions of it being a home race and wanting to ultimately do better than everyone, including your teammate, and he just lets him by!

And Lando recognizes it, too, why it was good for him to pass, but also points out that he understands and is very grateful for the sacrifice Oscar so willingly gave up for Lando to pass, for the good of the team with the chance of passing the Ferrari.

There is so much respect between these two drivers, and I think that's ultimately what makes them work so well together. There is an understanding between each other and within the McLaren team that is absolutely crucial to success, in my opinion.

And plus, Oscar and Lando just happen to have both ridiculously agreeable personalities. How can you dislike either of them?

21. is your muse more flirtatious or shy, or does it depend on the context?

Extremely flirtatious as long as he doesn't really mean it. And absolutely shameless in a relationship. For the most part it just comes without realizing, he'd flirt with anything that moves at exceptional ease, especially when pretty girls are involved. Because it's meaningless, it's just in good fun and it feels nice when they flirt back but doesn't matter if they don't. When he does mean it, it's still coated in the same nonchalant 'just-kidding-unless' demeanour, layering his feelings in jokes and flirtatiousness. And the only time he means it the response is, essentially, 'get lost', which only makes him try harder, sometimes out of spite, because deep down there's this fundamental belief that he's not meant to be loved or wanted, so rejection doesn't make much difference anyway. It's pretty easy for him to deal with (though it does get exhausting after a while and it can upset him when his genuine affection gets brutally pushed away the way LWJ often did).

This attitude just gives him an easy way out in the form of 'haha, I was just messing with you' if something goes wrong, and if he flirts with just about anyone it can be taken as his normal behavior and not taken too personally. And since he doesn't really believe that whatever he feels could possibly be reciprocated, it does two things: helps him not ruin everything and... makes him panic when the one that matters suddenly takes the initiative (especially since he likes to fool around with words but when it comes to practice there's nothing to back it up with).

But also this is not to say that he's self-conscious or particularly shy deep down. He's very confident, sometimes even too confident about his looks and talents and intelligence, not entirely unreasonably so. He's aware that he can be likeable, superficially, but not truly lovable. And that's the root of the mess. That's why he's so utterly shameless and flirting non-stop when he knows that he's loved.

I miss the Some Theatre Company cast. So much. I cannot stop thinking of them. And I will never shut up about them. They would either be a fan favorite cast (to people with taste) or they would get treated like how people treated Uranium Suite

I said I was going to get around to them eventually and I finally did. I wanted to create more character playlists because they’re just plain fun. And great character study, as I’ve said. So now Kyle and John are in the mix!

Songs that fit the characters and I think they’d like. Luckily my music taste is pretty old so everything’s in time period

Kyle was harder than I first thought he would be. I had a few songs I knew for sure fit him and the rest was a pick and chose. I think he’s definitely into new wave, and synth pop - all the electronic type beats. Mainly because it was his first exposure in the 80s. He also gives me the vibes of someone who likes protest rock (old anti Nam/war songs) and more “dad rock” stuff. But I can easily see thrash metal in there too.

I thought John would be hard to do but it turns out he was way easier than his dad. He does actually have a music taste established in cannon- his room is COVERED in metal posters. He’s a little metal head. So this one’s a mix. As I can really see him into Punk as well- some synth because his moms influence. Some songs crossover from his parents 👀
