“Wait...  The old Flash game?  Oh my gosh, I completely forgot about Flashpoint 11 Infinity and that entire collection of over 160,000 Flash games!  I still have to play Upgrade Comple--!!”

“Um...  Sorry.  I got a little carried away there.”

No worries.  So, ready for some MAAC versions of Anya Forger’s adopted parents?  Well, here you go.

I’m sure you all saw this was coming after the MAAC Anya picture.  😉

Her adopted father, Loid Forger (also known as Agent Twilight) is a spy tasked with maintaining peace between the rival countries of Westopolis (his home country) and Ostania by spying on the leader of Ostania’s National Party, Donovan Desmond.  To do this, he must adopt a child, enroll her in the private school Donovan’s son goes to, and pose as her parent, which he does with young Anya.  Not exactly your run-of-the-mill adoption story, is it?

He later learns that part of the school’s enrollment process is a family interview, which requires the student’s parents (both mother and father) to be present.  As fate would have it, he meets a woman named Yor Briar who happens to be looking for a romantic interest (mostly for the sake of increasing her social standing), and the two of them decide to achieve their respective goals by getting married.  Not exactly your run-of-the-mill love story, is it?

As fate would also have it, however, she happens to be a professional assassin (codenamed “Thorn Princess”).  Anya, of course, knows about both her and Loid’s true identities and occupations, but decides to keep it to herself even though she finds their union to be, in her words, “SO COOOOOL!!!”

Fate’s kind of funny like that, isn’t it?

Recreating Loid in MAAC was simple enough (my only problem was getting his hair a little too long), but Yor was a little trickier -- I couldn’t find a proper match for her head ornament or her “work tools,” so I decided to leave out the former and replace her weapons with a couple of shuriken.  I also couldn’t add earrings since they appeared behind her sideburns for some reason.  We’ll call it make-do, I guess.  *shrug*

Romulus was an inventor with warm, tanned skin, short black hair and blue eyes. He wore simple clothes: dark brown pants held up by black suspenders, a white button-up with the sleeves rolled above his elbows and black shoes. He also wore a brown pageboy cap, but it was knocked off his head during his murder.

Synopsis

Romulus was the victim in Ring In The New Death.

He was an inventor who immigrated to Concordia from Rome about a week before his death. He moved to Concordia to start a new life and make a name for himself in the world of inventing. He had travelled with his old coworker Jason, who was moving to Concordia to be with his boyfriend. During the trip, they met Tomioka Takara, a fellow immigrant who was also moving to Concordia, and André Santos, a travelling musician from Brazil.

While sailing to Concordia, Romulus and Takara developed a romantic relationship and spent many nights together. But Romulus also had his eyes on André, though the Brazilian wasn't interested in the Italian beyond being friends. Still, when Romulus wasn't busy with Takara, he tried winning over André. After all, to Romulus, having two lovers was always better than one.

When the journey came to an end, and it was time to move into his new home in Concordia, Romulus immediately got to work con- I mean selling amazing inventions to people!

One of these (un)lucky customers was the wife of Misha Zima. Romulus had sold her a coffee maker… Which ended up exploding and burning most of Mrs. Zima's hair off. He sold equally dangerous inventions to other Concordians, and thankfully, no one was killed due to his negligence. But this did make Romulus many enemies in the city.

However, the one who ended up killing him was the one he claimed to love, Takara. The woman was enraged that Romulus had left her and André to take the fall for a robbery he committed. While André managed to escape arrest, the same could not be said for Takara. She was arrested and only got out of jail when André managed to get enough money to bail her out.

Takara pleaded with Romulus to tell the police the truth, but he refused. Romulus tried to attack Takara, planning to kill her and eliminate the risk of her possibly ruining his new life. In the ensuing chase around the temple, Romulus tripped and landed against the large bell. As he tried to stand, Takara grabbed the bell’s mallet and smashed his head between it and the bell. The sound of Romulus’s skull crushing as the bell rang will forever haunt Takara, but it's one of the prices she must pay for killing him.

Hello! If you're having trouble finding Something Spooky, we're quite a ways off the path in Eterna Forest. Please reach out for directions; it's hard to find us by design, but we don't want any visitors getting lost!

My name is Jess, I host the resident ghosts around here at Something Spooky Breeding and Developement Center! Xe/xir, 25+, Sinnoh native. Breeder by profession, and a hobbyist coordinator in yesteryear, though I've been a battler too. (How else would I be able to raise Misdreavus for both purposes?)

We also sell accessories handcrafted by me and the Mimikyu, poffins, dusk stones, spell+cleanse tags, and various tea and powder blends inspired by the ghost magic practiced by me and three of my Mismagius. We do take custom spell commissions! (Just please don't ask us for a blessing. Legendaries were never my thing. I also won't do love spells.)

I Survived the "Voltron: Legendary Defender" Fandom Ship Wars

I've seen my fair share of fandoms, and the subsequent warring that can go on within them. Shipping tends to be the primary focus of a lot of it, and that was no more true than "Voltron: Legendary Defender" and I'm reliving my experience with it because shut up.

I literally was only in this whole thing because, as the Megas XLR theme song states, "I dig Giant Robots", which is true of pretty much everyone. I wanted a fun space opera quest with giant friggin robots that was done better than the anime from the 80s. The prospect of former members of the crew of Avatar: The Last Airbender being on the project sweetened the deal. And for a time it was good... and then it all imploded because idiots had to ruin it.

This was honestly the dumbest dip in fandom engagement I've ever seen and it was all over shipping and seriously stupid fucking people. A series if idiotic actions that led to compromises at the creative level that severely undercut the end product. Everything that transpired in the run up to the series finale, from the 7th Season onward, perhaps even before that, you can trace to one thing... the Shipping War between which dude Keith, the Red Paladin, should fuck. His older mentor Shiro, who turned out to already be in a same-sex relationship, or Blue Paladin Lance... the literal Lancer of their five man band.

Oh it got ugly fast, Shiro was too old for Keith, they were reading too much into rivalry of Lance and Keith, accusations of pedophilia, nasty screaming about whether they'd LET these characters be gay, I watched it all and rolled my eyes thinking "Who gives a flying fuck?" Let's not even get into how the fandom treated the potential female rivals for Lance and Keith's affections. Allura and Lance shippers were a lesser front in the war of words. The main screaming matches were between the slash ships, but there was always a little ire reserved for anything hetero. I remember how desperate they all were to find a way out. To prove that Space Azula, Acxa, was not into Keith, maybe even his sister.

For a while it stayed like this, angry fans on reddits and twitters and tumblrs and forums of all sorts. Then the shippers did the big No-NO, what EVERY fan sooner or later seems to forget. You bring this drama to the attention of the creators... and you involve them in it. Suddenly it's no longer about preferences, it's about fans making demands of the creative team. "Make us Canon or die!" And it probably wouldn't have been so bad if the Voltron Team wasn't so active on social media, but they were! Poor sweet summer children, were they ever.

Any tacit support for one side over the other was seen as damning condemnation. How DARE the creatives speak about their own preferences? Or ideas? Or lend credence to that side over the others! Maybe they're pedos too if they seem to want Keith and Shiro to be together. How dare they dismiss all this evidence of Klance and ruin their whole super important character development that is clearly integral to the story about the intergalactic war against an even empire utilizing a giant robot.

I just did not care for ANY of this. I was paying attention to Pidge exclusively at this point as her story was far more engaging and or interest than over some stupid romance most people had made up in their head. And I felt that getting on the asses of the creators to bend to one side of the other was becoming more and more fucking disrespectful. Let them tell their story, ya jerks, stop trying to force them to tell what you want. Just write fanfics if you're that desperate.

Then... someone did something VERY stupid. Well, two someones actually. During a tour of Dreamworks Animation, someone thought it would be quite "corking" if they allowed their fellow "high school chums" a look at some classified storyboards and sketches. A few neat little spoilers online that they snuck out of the tour on a hidden camera. Clever little scamp, posted it online... and instantly drew the ire of Dreamwork's legal department. Net wide, Dreamworks demanded the removal of the spoilers. But one moron thought it would be a brilliant fucking idea to keep them up... unless demands were met.

"Make Klance Canon and I'll take the spoilers down!"

The idiot's understanding was, since other sites had the pictures, that they couldn't be liable for stealing anything. They didn't take the pictures, they just had them. So really, if the other sites were going to be pressured into removing the material, they could keep it up and use it as a form of protest. To make their stupid ship real.

Other people told them, that's fucking blackmail, that's illegal. And eventually that thought stuck.

Yeah ya did, Sunshine. People thought these two fans were one in the same, but from every indication it seems like it really was two people with the "blackmailer" likely being a really stupid kid who took advantage of a situation without realizing that their plan was gonna potentially land them in a ton of legal trouble. But the damage was done at this point. Because once fans start threatening to ruin ALL of your creative plans, that's when the higher ups get involved. That's when shit has to change and drastically.

To summarize what happened, from what most people have gathered, a lot of story points, ideas, plots, etc. got up ended by all of this. They had to alter their original ideas because the fans had fucked it up by going overboard. Now, whatever plans they had for the series were basically thrown out the window in favor of a new direction that NO ONE LIKED!

Allura and Lance get rushed into a relationship, Shiro's husband dies and he finds a new one some rando background dude. Any potential Keith romance is just thrown out because both sides are already losing, might as well not anger them more, oh and then lets kill off Allura next just as quickly as we finalized this relationship. EVERYBODY LOSES and it's all because a bunch of shippers could not fucking chill!

And I just laughed, I just had so much fun watching the rest of this trainwreck slide into the on fire tire fire on the garbage scowl before sinking into the sea and hitting an unexploded atomic warhead from a sunken sub! They all went ballistic, every single fan just fucking went off at once in a screaming angry tirade of abject total failure. But I was mostly cool, because Pidge got a great ending and I didn't care about anything else at that point. So out of ALL the fans of Voltron, I won. I won along with every Pidge fan and I was more than happy to watch the rest burn. And fuck'em anyway, they did this to themselves. Let them all shriek and screech and run around mad at the creators. They made themselves so fucking toxic, so goddamn impossible to deal with that I'd have probably done it sooner were I in charge and probably worse.

I'd have had Auxia kiss Keith full on the lips while she lifts one of his legs to lightly straddle her while both Shiro and Lance look on giving thumbs up and hugging close their own significant others. Shiro's would've been a dude at least because I'm not so cruel as to throw away LGBT representation. But still, totally would've done that shit in like season 5. Trust me, I would've drunk the angry screeching of everyone because they all deserved it at that point. ALL OF THEM. I have no sympathy.

Voltron: Legendary Defender is a lesson for fans the world over. Shipping is all fun and games when you keep it that way. Write fanfics, share your headcanon, create all the racey sexually explicit dude on dude, girl on girl, human on tentacle monster, etc. art you can paint or sketch to your heart's desire... but leave the creative team out of it. It's ultimately their story, not yours. And believe me, most of you here and Tumblr played RIGHT into all that shit because I know at least a few of you fucking did this.

As for me, to prove I'm not completely above it all, I'll pony up. I had one Voltron Ship, one I actually liked, supported and was totally cool with knowing it was never gonna happen. And it's not any of the ones you think... I wanted Lance to get with one specific person. Well, not person, fish-person.

Plaxum! That's right! I wanted Lance to end up with the Mermaid Revolutionary voiced by Mae Whitman! Because fuck it, Mermaids are fucking awesome and you can try however you fucking want to ruin the fantasy of mermaid love under the sea with your fish biology lessons, I know for a fact you're all wrong because if anything, mythical mermaids are more akin to sharks than regular fish and SHARKS actually DO have sex. The males have TWO big fat ones down under in fact, so what does that say about mermaids?

So in conclusion this has been a very long winded way of me justifying my mermaid fantasy and possibly grossing a lot of you out. I have no regrets and if any remaining Voltron Fans want to take issue with it, tough. The show's over I can make up whatever I want. Namely that Lance eventually returned to Mermaid world and had a hundred or so babies with Plaxum, because I live in fanfic land and you can't drag me out of it if you tried!

"Phase Two: Agent Anya's Best Friend Selfie-Portrait!"

Yep, it's time for another MAAC picture, this time of Anya's cute and sassy friend and classmate, Milady!

Oh, whoops... I mean Becky Blackbell!

This lovely little lady is basically what you'd expect the daughter of a major military manufacturer's CEO to be -- proud, classy, and a little snobbish at times (especially toward boys). There's one thing that makes her stand out from every other Eden Academy student, though, which also happens to be something she and I have in common: she's a hopeless romantic!

That's why I had her hands make a heart shape, in case you're wondering. And yeah, that's Anya's adopted father she's going ballistic over. 😄

Her friendship with Anya quickly grows as she shows Anya the ins and outs of being a student at a prestigious school -- dealing with bullies, dressing for romantic success, and so on. While her role in Spy x Family is mostly a small one, she's got all the personality and charm one could ask for in a side character, on top of being a lover of romance (even if she takes it a little too far at times 😏).

Copying her hairstyle, hair scrunchies, and uniform was a little tricky due to MAAC's limitations, but her face and sweet smile were simple enough to recreate. I may have made her pupils a little too big, but I'd say her overall expression is similar enough. The picture I used as a reference came from the Spy x Family Wiki, naturally:

While working in the bakery, Ivy keeps her brown hair pinned up into a bun and sometimes wears a scarf or hat to protect her hair. She wears a white barker’s shirt underneath a red apron and black trousers. Lastly, the dark teal scarf from her first appearance is wrapped around her neck.

As per her suspect appearance in Ring In The New Death, it is known that Ivy eats panettone.

Synopsis

Ivy is a baker and cookie seller for the famous Italian bakery Le Levain Roma. She briefly appears in Rowdy Rick's murder investigation when Argo and Issac question her about who bought gingerbread from her.

Later, on New Year's Eve, Ivy returned as a suspect in the murder of Romulus Fabbri after clues led Isaac and Maddie to her workplace. During her first interrogation, Ivy claimed not to know anything about the murder or Romulus but was shocked to hear the man was dead. She told the detectives that he had visited the bakery, and she served him cannolis with him leaving her a tip in return. She explained that he was charming and had promised to visit the bakery again, but unknown to Isaac and Maddie, Ivy was omitting some information from her statement.

Further into the investigation, Isaac and Maddie discover Ivy’s necklace in one of their crime scenes. When they questioned her about how it could have gotten there, Ivy admitted that Romulus had ripped the necklace off her neck and taken it after she refused to refund him. Ivy swore she hadn’t killed Romulus and planned to beg him to return the necklace after her shift. Luckily, it was proven that Ivy didn’t kill Romulus after the actual killer was arrested.

Ivy appeared one more time during that case’s additional investigation. When Maddie, Charlie and Jason visited the bakery, she fulfilled their request for some bomboloni. She gave them to the group for free as thanks for everything they had done and New Haven. Ivy invited them to come back and visit any time, and she would ensure treats would always be waiting for them!

I considered naming her Holly as I wanted a Christmas-themed name, but I associate that name with Holly Hopper, so I went with Ivy, from the song The Holly and The Ivy instead

Her surname, Noel, means Christmas in French

She loves cookies. Her favourite kinds are chocolate chip and gingerbread

Likewise, she always smells like freshly baked cookies

I'm so sorry Avatar fans.

For anyone enjoying the show, keep enjoying it and don't look at this post. I don't want to poopoo on anyone's good time.

My wife is a mega fan, and she had to have me pause the show often to yell about all of the awful things they were changing. (Like someone who read the books then watched the movie). It was hard for me to watch those first two episodes haha.

From an outsiders perspective (watched animated show once), it's just not a very good show. Clunky awful dialog, the exposition oh God, The telling and not showing was grinding my gears. The CGI is 50/50, the creatures didn't look that good to me for todays standards, BUT the sets and those broad landscape shots looked fantastic.

Little side note, I do feel bad for the actors. No one should bully them in any way. They did what they could with what they had to work with and don't deserve any hate. People on the internet are insane, they're just actors. Don't be weird.

I can tell why the original creators parted ways with Netflix.

I think this is a perfect example of why animated shows and movies don't need to be recreated in live action. It's okay for things to live and be enjoyed but inevitably die. That series meant a lot to people, and they loved it. But everything has a lifespan. This live action show is the reanimated corpse of something beloved, but it's still just a corpse.
