DACC Lists Fall President's & Honors Students

Danville Area Community College has released a list of its honor students for the Fall 2022 Semester. A student must carry 12 or more credit hours and a straight A (4.0) average on a 4.0 scale to be included on the President’s List. To be included on the Honors List, a student must carry 12 or more credit hours and have a B+ (3.5) grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

[long-awaited submission from Aldebaran; I’m putting it behind a cut]

Oh my gosh, an epic stream deserves an epically long and epically late By the Numbers! Come with me back in time, all the way back to two weeks ago, which in pandemic days is a month and a half. Before we were treated to Giant Ivan and Tiny Tamara in Moscow, there was The Swagger, The Disney Princess and The Bot…

This was a fantastically fun boot to watch as part of a group of enthusiastic Saturday Streamers! Plusses included an earlier-in-his-run Ben “The Swagger” Crawford as the Phantom, with the spotlight on his booming baritone voice, and Ali “Paris’s Sweetheart” Ewoldt as an enchanting Christine. And—Jay Armstrong Johnson (we’re pretty sure) as Raoul. Or some semblance of Raoul. Something was up with Raoul in this performance and the consensus was there may have been robotics involved. I won’t say more here; the streamers have it covered below and a fantastic set of memes by Onthevirg/faunaproductions caught tons more great moments. Very very nice filming job by a master who clearly knew the show well and anticipated major moments and character moves in a smooth manner. Not a bot though. As far as we know. And featuring an AIAOY– let’s just say that has to be seen to be believed.

Some stats on the stats: An asterisk * indicates a recurring category. All numbers are accurate except where they are not. I was tempted last week to resort to making crap up for this recap, but resisted the temptation. I will occasionally add in a missing letter or two. If a person’s train of thought is split up, I will ignore intervening commentary and put that thought back on track. Occasionally, by design or by mischance, a comment or two will be moved slightly out of original chronological order. Or wildly out of chronological order to cater to a theme. Or a whim. HELLO LOVELY TRAVESTY. I apologize for answering very late! But I am still. In love with your questions yes

TILLY

Known as Copper’s Flame in her home system, Tilly is a very young member of an extraterrestrial species of sapient... energy signals? Groups of electrons? It’s... difficult to describe. They’re called Tillanee. But they travel by wiring, can control whatever they’re in, and can sometimes even hop electrical devices by (cellular or wireless internet) signals alone, communicating solely by the intensity of the light they emit when at designated emitters. Each Tillanee’s light colour is unique, and their name often corresponds to it.

Tilly herself crash landed a space vessel on Earth in an attempt to flee from... something. We’re not sure what, just yet. But upon entering the range of an entire human city powered by overwhelming electronics, the poor thing shuts everything off trying to save her sanity. Unfortunately, this leaves a lot of people... dead. Reasonably, the government is quite upset, so sends out a secret agent division named G.R.I.D. to go take care of the issue. Just as they’re about to “take care of the issue”, Tilly figures out how to not be taken care of, and... builds herself a physical form based around the pictures in the phone she was hiding in. Pictures of the main character’s dead daughter.

Tilly is the equivalent of a smart six-year-old, she doesn’t quite understand anything that’s going on. At all. She’s trying.

And she’s very scared.

MEGHAN XU

The twin sister of G.R.I.D.’s youngest agent, Meghan is often left stuck back at the office, not yet certified to go out in the field. She’s a clever and good-natured young woman who has a passion for teasing her coworkers and writing everything down traditionally--and thank stars she does, because her habits saved a notable portion of G.R.I.D.’s files that couldn’t otherwise be accessed after the electricity kicked out. Though a tad naïve and a good bit stubborn, Meghan’s the team’s source of creative and eccentric ideas that have saved their skins more than a few times, and she acts as the guardian angel watching over the main trio’s antics, switching from headset to Morse code lantern light and airhorns that make her sibling swear at her.

She enjoys the airhorns.

1) How are you today? -Pretty chill. Pro’ly caught a cold, but I can get through it.
