the rooms are all on fire (every time that you walk in)
// melissa has a thing for her new neighbor, but she refuses to let it go too far because of the age difference. though, the redhead might realize how deep her feelings go once it’s too late. //

melissa knows right away that she doesn’t like you. you’re too young, too loud, too perky, too nice. you had moved in across the hall from her a couple months ago, and had knocked on her door the same day you moved in. you had this big smile on your face, along with this large tupperware of brownies. though, in your defense it had not been a good day for melissa. her ex husband had just revealed he had an affair while they were still married, and even though she no longer loved joe, it still hurt.
“who the hell are you?” she asks, as soon as she swings the door open. your smile doesn’t even falter, and it’s the most annoying thing melissa has ever seen. “i’m y/n! i just moved into the apartment across the hall. i just wanted to introduce myself and give you these.” your western accent indicated you were far from home, and the positive energy radiating off of you only seemed to put melissa in a worse mood than she already was. you hand her the tupperware of brownies, and she scowls.
“we don’t really introduce ourselves to neighbors ‘round here. your lucky you didn’t knock on 402’s door. he’s a creep.” she mutters as she takes the tub of sweets. “oh. thanks for the warning.” you joke, and you tilt your head to side, “i never got your name.” you add and she snorts. “cause i never gave it, kid.” she responds curtly before shutting the door right in your face.
that was your first impression of melissa. it was enough to make any sane person steer clear of her… but you weren’t necessarily a sane woman. you were usually up before eleven every morning to go on a run or do a small workout. one morning you wake up extra early, and catch the redhead in the elevator. you don’t appear to notice the way her eyes roam up your tight leggings, and small zipped up sweater that clung to your body. “good morning, neighbor.” you greet her, and she keeps this stone cold expression etched onto her features.
“morning.” she flatly responds, clearly uninterested. “did you like the brownies?” you inquire curiously, as the elevator door closes behind you. “i’m not a fan of chocolate. i prefer pumpkin or apple.” she bluntly replies, and you don’t let her attitude discourage you. in fact, you visibly pep up at the newly found information. “i love pumpkin cinnamon rolls. next time i make some, i’ll bring some over for you.” you say, as the elevator door opens. “i’ll see ya around, neighbor! have a good day.” you call out as you rush towards the exit of the building. melissa rolls her eyes as the elevator doors close, and she continues her way to the parking garage.
your perkiness in the mornings was something melissa couldn’t adjust to. she didn’t want to. as soon as you realized the redhead was in the elevator every morning at 7:20, you were there as well. it was borderline obsessive in the redheads opinion, and she couldn’t stand that dopey grin on your face whenever you’d see her. it was like clockwork. she’d get in the elevator, click on the floor for the parking garage, and you’d squeeze in before the doors closed. she was beginning to consider taking the stairs.
she wasn’t sure how you knew when she was home, but on friday evening, she was in the middle of making dinner when a knock on the door caused her to knock over an open bottle of water. “shit! fuck— i’m comin’!” she yells out frustratedly as she makes her way to the front door. when she opens it, there you are with that stupid smile on your face. this time you’re holding a plate with a large slice of sweet bread on it, with icing slathered on top. it was saran wrapped cutely on the white plate.
“pumpkin cinnamon bread, with cream cheese icing.” your voice is light, and you’re gazing up at her with these big innocent eyes; just begging for her approval. there’s hopefulness laced into your orbs, and not even melissa has the heart to turn this away. “pumpkin in april… thanks kid.” she mutters, and if she thought your smile was big before… it seems to illuminate with her backhanded compliment. maybe it was the fact that one of her favorite students made her a painting in art class, and she was feeling particularly mushy today.
“you like pasta?” she asks you blandly, still sounding indifferent about your sudden intrusion on her dinner making. you nod eagerly, “yup! i haven’t had it in ages though… i don’t know any good italian spots around here, and i can’t cook to save my life.” you confess sheepishly, and she nods as she turns around and disappears into the apartment. she leaves her door wide open, and you stand there, clearly confused. “well, what ‘re you waiting for? come in, dinners almost ready.” she commands, causing your eyes to widen in shock.
“unless you got somewhere else to be tonight?” she asks, looking over her shoulder to see how shocked you look. you shake your head quickly, “nope! it was just gonna be me and the takeout guy tonight.” you half joke, as you walk in, shutting the door behind you. you go quiet as you stand behind the counter, and melissa wipes up the water she had spilled earlier. she turns her head to see you glancing around the room, clearly nervous. it’s the quietest she’s ever heard you. “what? place not what you expected?” she asks, and your eyes lock with hers.
“i just… i didn’t think i’d get to see the inside of your place before i got to know your name.” you admit, and melissa can feel an uncontrollable smile tugging at the corners of her lips. “my names melissa.” she confesses, and your eyes go all soft at the revelation. “melissa… huh. that’s a pretty name. it suits you.” you blurt aloud, and she turns away to check on the pasta, hiding the blush that coats her cheeks.
melissa learns quite a bit about you after that. you’re twenty-four, you had lived in the west coast all your life, and you spent your teenage years stuck taking care of your grandma and siblings. the more melissa discovers about you, the harder it is for her to hate you. your kindness isn’t fake or falsified like most of the people around here; you speak every word with genuineness and sincerity. a routine seems to progress between the two of you; every friday evening you knock on her door with some new platter of sweets, and melissa proceeds to invite you in for dinner.
every friday turns into every other day, and before she knows it, you two are having dinner together every night. the redhead went from hating you, to enjoying your presence more than anyone else’s. at first, melissa assumed she simply enjoyed your company because she was lonely. but after a few months of you, she quickly realized what the little flutter in her belly meant whenever she’d see you. melissa’s head would grow fuzzy whenever you complimented her, and she turned into a blushing mess. not to mention how she couldn’t necessarily hide how happy she was to see you now.
she’d pick out a bottle of wine, and makes different recipes she thinks you’d like. she finds herself humming along to old italian songs as she cooks, waiting for the gentle knocks on her door.
tonight you brought her new york cheesecake with raspberry filling on top. you greet her as you push past her, placing the cake onto her counter. “i know, cheesecake is so bad for our health, but i had a terrible day.” you tell her, and you begin to ramble about how awful your boss is. though, all melissa can do is take in how absolutely beautiful you are. the way your hair falls, and moves as you talk with the emotions you wear on your face. when you don’t get a response from melissa for awhile, you look over and see her leaning against the door, staring at you with a peculiar expression.
“what? what’s wrong?” you question, she offers you a gentle shake of her head. “you’re really beautiful, you know that?” she blurts out, her entire demeanor changing as soon as she realizes what she just said. her eyes go wide as she stands up straight, instead of looking appalled or surprised, the blood rises to your face. a shy grin plasters itself onto your face, as you push your hair behind your ears before gazing at her like some shy schoolgirl. “you’re calling me beautiful? have you seen yourself?” you ask her, and that’s the moment that seems to solidify it for melissa.
the way her heartbeat picks up as the words leave your lips, and something in the pit of her stomach bursts, as if a million cocoons hatched into butterflies inside of her. she began to feel something she hasn’t felt since before she married joe. she couldn’t believe some western twenty something year old kid was making her feel this way.
you appear to be able to read melissa like an open book. she doesn’t have to tell you how she’s feeling for you to know. you’re the only person who’s ever been able to figure her out, and it’s scary. melissa also wasn’t an idiot. she could tell judging by the gleam of adoration in your eyes, you were growing quite the crush on her. sometimes she wonders why. you’re in your twenties, you’re hot, and you know how to bake a mean banana cream pie… melissa also sees how the doorman and a variety of other men ogle you in the mornings. you could have anyone you want, yet you spend your evenings eating melissa’s various italian recipes.
however, the redhead is very closed off. especially romantically. after joe, she’s dated around but nobody’s ever gotten a second date. she hasn’t been so intimate with someone in so long, even before her divorce, the marriage was falling apart. dinner every night was not an option for her and joe; he always came home late, and by the time he arrived his plate of leftovers were in the microwave. even when he’d be home while she was cooking, he’d eat in the living room in front of the tv. you were so enthralled by melissa, sometimes you could hardly focus on the food with how much attention you paid her.
she tries to hide the way she revels in your attention, and how the glimmer in your eyes directed towards her causes those stupid butterflies inside of her to repopulate. “you do not actually have random baseball bats around your apartment…” you trail off one evening, as you’re both sitting on melissa’s comfortable couch. there’s a glass of wine in each of your hands; you’re both on your second glass, and you’re sure it’s the expensive wine melissa keeps locked away. it makes you feel special when she puts so much thought into the dinners you two share. they mean something to you, and you’re positive they mean something to her as well.
“i do. they’re hidden around.” she explains, taking a sip of her wine. you let out a genuine giggle; your wide eyed gaze is pouring right into her, nobody’s ever looked at her with such reverence. something then flickers in her eyes as she remembers something; “speaking of… i’ve been meaning to give you one. ya look like you can’t swing for shit, but it’s better than ya having nothing to defend yourself with.” melissa rambles as she stands up, disappearing into her bedroom. your brows knit together in slight confusion as you wait for her to return.
when she does, she has a medium sized wooden bat. it was dark wood and looked brand new. “wait, you were serious?” you ask, letting out a breathless little chuckle. “you live on a questionable part of town, by yourself, y/n. you barely even forget to lock your door when you come over.” she scolds, sounding undoubtedly upset by the fact. your baffled features quickly morph into a soft expression, “you worried about me, lissa?” you tauntingly ask, and she lets out this vexed huff, waving the wooden bat closer to you.
“just take the damn thing and keep it by your bed.” she commands, while you gladly accept the strange but thoughtful gift. “it’ll make you feel safer.” she adds, her neck burning as you stare at her with a vulnerable look on your face. “okay. but i’ll have you know i’ve never felt safer than knowing my tough, kick ass neighbor is right across the hall.” you assure her, and something inside of melissa is slipping; whether it’s her resolve or the walls she so desperately tries to keep up. “thanks for worrying about me though. i worry about you too.” you clarify, and melissa would normally scoff at a comment like that.
she’d shake her head and demand for you to know she can take care of herself… but she can’t. as you stare into her eyes with the sole intent of wanting her to understand how much she means to you, melissa finds herself taking a seat beside you again, deciding to let the comment slide. maybe she enjoyed knowing someone as sweet as you cared about her. it’s been so long since anyone’s cared for her in this way; it was sort of foreign to her by now. yet it was also comforting.
though melissa often found herself thinking about what things would be like when you finally met somebody. if you’d opt to spending your evenings with your new girlfriend or boyfriend… if you’d look at them with the same gaze you’d look at her with. some evenings she’d catch herself staring at you, and she’d think of being in the shoes of some younger woman… someone who can give you the start at life that you need. you’re in your early twenties, and there’s no way you’d ever want someone old and used up like melissa.
so naturally, the night you invite melissa to your place for dinner instead of just heading to hers… she feels an odd bundle of nerves knotting up in her stomach. she changes after work; which is something she never does. she puts on that sundress she likes to wear when she’s feeling good about herself. as soon as you open the door, your eyes nearly bug out of your head. you have a grease stain on your cheek, she assumes it’s some kind of cooking oil. the apron you’re wearing is hiding the tight top and jeans you’re wearing underneath, but melissa thinks you’ve never looked more cute.
“you’re early! i— i’m still making dinner, please sit down.” you urge her, and melissa offers you that soft smile that seems to only be reserved for you these days. she looks around your place; taking in the pictures on the walls, and the flatscreen that’s too big in melissa’s opinion. she barely watches tv, and when she does it’s in bed on her phone. “yeah, i left a little early because ava hired some of the teachers some new assistants.” she tells you, and you cock a brow, flashing her an amused grin. “an assistant? how do you like that?” you question curiously, knowing how difficult it was for the redhead to warm up to new people.
she snorts, “the kids fine. she’s a little younger than you. can’t understand a word she says but the kids like her.” she murmurs, shrugging, before she looks over at you. you’re stirring whatever’s in the pot, and she quirks a brow. “you actually might like her.” melissa’s comment rolls off your back easily, you don’t seem to notice the difference in her tone. you laugh lightly, “i doubt that. i’ve never gotten along with girls that well. guys either.” you confess, and melissa snorts. “oh yeah, sure, the girl who makes conversation with the mailman doesn’t have any friends. who do you think you’re lying to here, kid?” she questions, and you frown, rolling your eyes. “i’m not a kid. and just because i know how to make conversation with people, doesn’t mean i have a lot of friends.” your voice is light, and lacks any sort of defense or malice.
melissa sort of envies how easy it is for you to talk about things. “i mean, even in high school i had like three friends. they all still live back home, and we talk from time to time but it’s not like we can just hang out every weekend, you know?” you begin to ramble as you stir the searing food in the pan. “you’re the only person who i hang out with, and i’m lucky you even wanna hang out with me.” you add half jokingly, and you turn to see an inscrutable expression etched onto the older woman’s face.
“anyone would wanna hang out with you… i mean one day you’re gonna find someone who can’t stay away from you.” melissa says in an abnormally gentle way, there’s a hint of sadness in her voice and you cock a brow at the redhead. “does it count if i’ve already found someone i can’t stay away from? i’m literally making beef stroganoff for her, and i almost burned down the kitchen twice just to impress her.” you admit, and on cue whatever is in the pan begins smoking.
melissa’s eyes widen as a blush coats her beautiful face. she rushes over to your side, “jesus, y/n! why didn’t you tell me you wanted beef stroganoff? i could make this in my sleep!” she begins to shoo you away, and you frown, shaking your head stubbornly. “because you always make dinner; i wanted to cook for you.” your fervent voice causes melissa’s heart to lurch in her chest. “i don’t just cook for just anybody, yanno’? i cook for you because i like ya, and don’t know how else to show it. i’m not all sweet like you.” she clarifies, and your heartbeat quickens as her words sink in.
she’s trying her hardest to avoid your eyes, and you can’t help the uncontrollable blush on your cheeks. “you like me?” you ask her, and she rolls her eyes. “like it wasn’t obvious when i cooked mac n cheese as a main dish. seriously, kid, your taste buds are strange.” she mutters, and you bite your lip, trying to contain the grin on your face. “yeah, well, as strange as my palette is, you like me.” you taunt her, and notice the way her focused stirring falters ever so slightly. she scoffs, forcing an exasperated expression on her face.
“don’t make me take it back.” she murmurs, and you can’t seem to stop grinning at her like an idiot.
the seasons change and so do things between you and melissa. it isn’t a significant enough change for you to mention it, but it is enough for you to feel the difference. melissa is so soft, and carefree around you now. before she was so tough and prickly; she’s still a bit prickly but you don’t mind getting poked in order to see her true self every now and then. you two appear to be doing this slow dance around the obvious feelings you have for one another.
melissa is way more reluctant than you are. she hates the way her mind works, but it’s not like she can control it. usually how cute and thoughtful you are washes away any doubts she has about herself, except for one day she runs out parsley, and has to run to the store. of course you offer to come along with her, pulling at the sleeves of your sweater and excitedly trotting by her side.
“you sure you don’t need anything else from here? you’re running out of juice.” you remind her and she mentally scolds herself. “you’re right! thanks hun.” she sweetly thanks you, making your face hot as she reaches for the orange juice. you both make your way to the checkout line, and you aimlessly look around at the chocolates. “y/n! hey!” a familiar voice causes you and melissa to turn around. you eyebrows rises slightly as you run into a woman who you went on a few dates with when you first moved here.
“tracy! hey!” you greet her, and she hugs you before you can even think. melissa is watching the interaction like a hawk, and as soon as the raven haired girl hugs you, there’s a burning sensation of pure rage deep rooted in her belly. her eyes narrow as “tracy” pulls away from you, and looks at you as if she wants to ravish you in the supermarket. “you never called me again! i had a lot of fun mini-golfing with you.” she says, and you sheepishly rub the back of your neck, clearly racking your brain for a flimsy excuse.
that’s when realization hits melissa; you dated this woman! the thought alone nearly makes her scoff. this was your type? mid-twenties, soft skin, hippie wannabe? “i just got really busy adjusting to living here and all that… but how are you?” you try to steer the subject away from the awkward final date you hated. it wasn’t fun for you; you had to force yourself to be some cool girl you clearly weren’t. “i’m good! how are you? what are you up to tonight?” she asks hopefully, and you smile.
“i’m good as well. this is melissa, we’re here picking up some parsley for dinner tonight.” you introduce the redhead, and tracy’s demeanor immediately shifts as she assumes the older woman is your girlfriend. “oh. hi, i’m tracy.” she introduces herself to the grade school teacher, holding out her hand for the second grade teacher to shake. melissa only nods curtly in in tracy’s direction, “hey.” she flatly responds. and you notice the tension in the air right away. “well, it was nice seeing you again, tracy.” you say suggestively, and tracy nods.
“yeah, you too. you should call me sometime.” she squeezes your arm before she leaves, and melissa looks as though she wants to murder you with her eyes. “next.” the checkout clerk calls out, snapping the redhead out of her thoughts. she places the orange juice and parsley down much harder than she intended; it even causes the middle-aged man to jump slightly. “rough day?” he questions with a goofy grin, trying to lighten the mood. melissa shoots daggers at him with her eyes, causing his smile to fall as he clears his throat.
he scans the items quickly, “that’ll be $8.97.” he states; not a single slick remark left in him. melissa inserts her card, finishing the transaction without another word. she storms out of the supermarket with you in tow, trying to catch up to her as you follow her to her car. when you’re both strapped in, the car starts and the ride is quiet for the first minute and a half. you hate awkward silences, especially with her. “i honestly forgot i even tried dating when i first moved here.” you pipe up.
“well maybe now you can give her a call, since you’re no longer busy and adjusting.” she mocks your lame excuse from a few minutes ago, and you frown. “i didn’t— the reason i didn’t call her back wasn’t because i was adjusting—“ you try to explain yourself, but melissa cuts you off. “you don’t have to explain yourself to me. we’re friends, i don’t care who you go on lousy dates with.” her voice is harsh, and it’s a tone you recognize all too well. it’s the same one she uses when she used to have her walls up high, refusing to let you get even a glimpse into her mind.
she doesn’t allow you to tell her it was solely because you didn’t want to call tracy again. the dates were terrible; the entire time you were just pretending to be someone you’re not. you only forced yourself to go because you had been living here for a month, and hadn’t made a single friend. melissa stubbornly cooks dinner, and the conversation through the night is short. you aren’t used to it, and it hurts. but you convince yourself tomorrow she’ll be ready to talk about it.
but the next morning, melissa must’ve left for work earlier than usual because you don’t see her in the elevator. you text her to have a good day, but never get a response. throughout the day you can’t help but think about her, and you wonder why she became so closed off after finding out about your meaningless dates with tracy. you understood she might’ve been a little jealous; sometimes you got jealous whenever she spoke about joe. but she seemed so genuinely upset, all you wanted to do was figure out what was going through her head.
you decide to make her some pumpkin carrot cake before heading to her apartment for dinner. it’s nearly six when you’re finished, and you place it in a tupperware nicely for her. you’re practicing in your head what you want to say to her tonight, and how you should assess the situation. by the time you knock on her door you have a simple smile on your face, and the door swings open, the sight nearly causing your eyes to bug out of their sockets.
melissa was wearing a tight black dress that hugged her body perfectly, and enhanced every single curve. the exposed cleavage caused you to force your eyes on hers in order not to sneak a longer peak. your hopeful smile falls a bit when you notice the hard expression on her face. before she can even ask you anything, you begin blabbering like you usually do. “look, i know you said we’re just friends, but there’s more to us than just that… we both know it. we may not have ever talked about it or what it means, but i haven’t dated anyone since this started…” you ramble, and melissa’s eyes soften for a split second, her hard facade slipping as a wave of panic washes over her.
“y/n—“ she tries, but the voice behind her is interrupting, causing your heart to fall right into your stomach. “everything okay, red?” a deep, unfamiliar voice asks, causing you to freeze. melissa suddenly has this unrecognizable expression of regret on her face. “y-yeah everything’s fine, gar.” she says back, “gary? as in the vending machine guy who’s been flirting with you all year, gary?” you ask in disbelief, and a slight bit of anger is mixed into your voice. she had been so upset about you going on a few dates with tracy before you two were even friends, and now she was here having a romantic dinner with gary. you could even smell the type of food she made him.
“he’s been asking me all year, and i decided since it’s been awhile since i’ve been on a date, i should get back out there.” melissa says the words she’s practiced saying to you in her head. she knew you’d come over today, you always do. she knew you’d see her with gary, and maybe she wanted that. she wanted you to feel how she felt when she saw you and tracy. though as you stare up at her with this kicked puppy-dog expression, she knows you aren’t feeling what she was feeling yesterday. you’re just straight up hurt and it’s written all over your face.
you glance down at the stupid dessert you spent all afternoon perfecting. “well, this is for you, because i wanted to apologize for upsetting you. i can see now you weren’t upset at all.” you have to force yourself to speak, and you surprisingly hold it together as you shove the tupperware in melissa’s hands. you turn to walk back into your apartment, and a wave of regret flashes over the redhead. melissa reaches out for you, “y/n, wait—“ a firm but soft hand wraps around your wrist, but you pull it away from her as you spin around and flash her a dejected look. the sight breaks her heart in two.
“it’s fine. you were right; we’re friends. you don’t have to explain yourself to me. i don’t care who you go on dates with.” you throw the words back in her face, and there’s a flicker of emotions on her face but you turn away and disappear into your apartment. melissa stands there staring at your door; she looks down at the cake in her hands and she hates how tight her chest gets. it’s like her heart might pop in her chest. she doesn’t feel the way she thought she would, and suddenly she mentally curses herself for thinking it’d feel good to hurt you.
melissa is off her game at work the next day. she texts you, and for the first time since you two became friends, you’re the one who doesn’t reply. the redhead realizes she made a mistake. instead of talking about her insecurities or how hurt she was when she saw you and tracy, she ended up jumping the gun and going out with the safest option. gary.
in truth she did like gary; maybe not enough to want to date him, but she found him moderately attractive. she also thought he was pretty funny, and he appears to like her a lot. though none of that was anything compared to what she felt for you. melissa could not stop thinking about you and that hurt face of yours all day. she even decides to cook your favorite food for dinner.
but when six-thirty rolls around, and you still haven’t knocked on her door, there’s a sinking sensation in her stomach. melissa huffs as she looks at the dinner she prepared, and thought of it going to waste angered her. or maybe it was the thought of you just standing her up, even though it’s not like she personally invited you tonight. maybe you think she’s with gary again.
usually melissa is very stubborn, and she would never consider going across the hall and begging you… but she can’t get you out of her damn head. so she takes her ass straight to your door, not even bothering to close hers. she knocks on your door vigorously, not stopping once until the door swings open to reveal you. your hair is damp, and you’re in an old oversized tee shirt; the printing was faded but the hem reached just below your thighs. melissa had to refrain herself from gazing down at your smooth legs.
“i cooked dinner and you’re ready for bed, what gives?” she questions, hating how she sounds like a petulant child. you look a bit surprised to see her, “don’t you have a date with gary and his mustache?” you ask a bit bitterly, and melissa scowls. “it was just dinner, y/n.” the redhead says, and you gaze up into her eyes. “dinner like we have?” you ask, and she huffs in response. “that’s different and you know it! you said it yourself yesterday, there’s more to us than just that.” she reminds you.
“i was clearly wrong.” you sound abnormally stubborn, and melissa sighs in frustration. “i’m not going to see gary again, kid. so just come on over and sit down for dinner.” she commands, and you shake your head defiantly.
“no.” you retort, and she raises a brow, obviously shocked by the disobedience. “no?” she asks you in the warning tone she uses whenever one of her students is testing her. “that’s right, i’m saying no. ever since this started, i’ve always done what you say. i go at your pace, i wake up earlier just to see you, i don’t bake anything with chocolate because you hate chocolate. did you know it’s my favorite? i do whatever you ask to satisfy you. i put my feelings to the side, just to make sure yours are valid. all for my efforts to be outweighed by a guy who restocks the gushers in the vending machine.” you stress, sounding reasonably upset.
“why did you even get so upset about tracy the other day if you were planning on going out with gary? i don’t understand you.” you add, and the dam melissa built to keep her emotions in abruptly bursts. “exactly! you don’t understand me! you’re this young kid who has her whole life to look forward to. this is just a passing moment in your life; this apartment, this city, our dinners, me.” her voice lowers, “you got your whole life ahead of ya, you shouldn’t waste it tryin’ ta’ understand me. you should be dating girls like tracy who are equipped with all sorts of emotions, and able to give you what you need.” she adds, and you frown as she pours her heart out to you. she appears to be full of regret, and vulnerability.
“and what exactly do i need, lissa?” you can’t help but ask, and she runs her fingers through her soft red locks. “you need someone who’ll take care of ya, and show ya how much they care about you. you need someone who isn’t old and afraid of what everyone else thinks. maybe someone who wouldn’t completely embarrass the shit out of ya whenever you decide to take them back to your hometown…” she trails off, now she’s avoiding your eyes and the abnormal, unconfident demeanor causes you to frown. you practically worship the ground melissa walks on; even if she didn’t know it, you were completely enamored by her. it frustrates you to know she doesn’t put herself on a similar pedestal.
“you are the most beautiful woman i’ve ever laid eyes on. when i met you, i felt this instant pull that i had never felt before. god, i don’t think i’ve ever seen anyone as pretty as you, and it makes me so mad that you don’t think of yourself that way. i love you, you know? everything about you; the crinkles by your eyes whenever you smile, the way you curse when you’re angry, your southern philly accent… that irritated frown on your face whenever you’re upset.” you begin to get lost in your words, the space between you both getting smaller and unnoticed. her heart palpitates as you rave on and on about her with this genuine expression of stringent affection.
“you have all these amazing qualities, and you sell yourself short. you’re the best freakin’ cook in the world; the best and sexiest teacher in the world; you’re tough as nails; you have this energy that follows you, it’s fierce and warm. just like you. and as for your age, it’s hard for me too…” the last comment makes her eyes harden, and you’re quick to add, “… but it’s not because i think you’re old, mel. it’s because sometimes i feel like you don’t think of me as your equal. you just think of me as this young kid who’s a burden. but i know who i am, and what i want. i keep a memory of everything you do in the back of my head, and the space in my mind you take up is only getting bigger and bigger. you’re it for me, i’m positive, because how can i see anyone else when you’re engraved in my mind and heart?” you ask her, pouring your whole heart out to her.
your eyes widen when you see the tears threatening to fall from her delicate green eyes. “that’s— that’s the sweetest thing anyone’s ever said to me… you— that was more romantic than the vows at my wedding…” melissa’s voice cracks and she tries to put on that stony facade, but it doesn’t work. your words seemed to have broken one of the steel walls she puts up; it’s crumbled into millions of pieces and left her exposed in front of you. her eyes are unguarded and her expression is fragile. she feels so small.
“you can’t just say things like that!” she snaps, her voice higher than usual. you shake your head, “why not? you deserve to hear more good things about yourself, and i can go on all night.” you sheepishly admit, and melissa’s eyes soften when they meet yours. “you really feel that way about me? even though i’m probably older than your mom?” she half jokes, but the self-doubt is leaking through her tone. “you are definitely way hotter than my mother.” you mutter, and melissa gasps but can’t manage to fight to the grin that’s tugging at her lips.
“gee kid, you feel all of that for me and have never even tried ta’ kiss me? what gives?” you can hear the genuine curiosity behind the playful question, and your cheeks turn an embarrassing shade of pink. “i didn’t… i didn’t think you wanted me. i mean, yesterday when i saw you with hulk hogan—“ she cuts in, “gary.” she corrects and you scowl cutely, “whatever. when i saw you with him it kind of reminded me you’re a woman who needs someone to take care of you and i… i’m just a kid.” you look down at your sock covered feet, and before you can even think about anything else, melissa is cupping your face and making you face her.
her lips are on yours in an instant, and the butterflies in your belly begin to repopulate one by one. she pulls away before you can think twice, “you’re not just a kid to me. you’re a good person, y/n. i’m sorry i was so immature about everything.” she sounds ashamed, but the sincerity in her voice makes your heart speed up. your cheeks burn and maybe the kiss sweetened you up a bit. “it’s okay, lissa. i understand… next time just talk to me.” you assure her and she smirks. “or i can just kiss ya again and see where that gets me.” she half jokes, making you grin.
“or that too.”

Tumblr media
"i know kids are curious, but eighth grade is a bit early to try weed, right?" jacob bounced his leg anxiously as he raised the question to his friends in the teachers' lounge. one of his students had just been suspended for bringing marijuana to school, and jacob was characteristically worried about the kid.
"i started in tenth grade, but teenagers are growin' up younger and younger these days," melissa responded. barbara raised her eyebrows in shock, and melissa reacted with an amused half-smile. "like trouble over here. when was your first time, hon?"
you tried to ignore the innuendo as melissa invited you into the conversation. you had been hired to teach the third grade a few months ago. you and melissa had a rapport from the first moment you walked into the lounge. every time you were in a room together, you made each other laugh. melissa made you feel at ease in your new workplace, and you felt lucky to have her.
because you both got along so well, ava often paired you up for team-building exercises and combined-class activities. the two of you weren't exactly close friends yet, but you had chemistry. that much was obvious to everyone at abbott.
"tenth grade for me, too," you answered between sips of your morning coffee. "a friend and i did it in the bathroom before art class. good memories."
"what, did you have some kinda fancy vape pen?" melissa cocked an eyebrow at you.
"i wouldn't call it fancy, but yeah, we mostly smoked carts," you explained. "bought 'em from the upperclassmen in the parking lot before school. i'm pretty sure they weren't pure weed, though. we had to be smoking battery acid, or plastic or something."
"god, your generation is weird. smokin' chemicals out of a flash drive," melissa said, gesturing wildly to convey her amazement. "the first time i got high was in detention. my buddy steve would sneak in and bring us cigarettes and blunts. they all looked the same, so we played russian roulette with it. now everybody walks around with those neon devices in their pockets."
"i can't tell if you're being serious or if you're referencing the breakfast club," you giggled, nudging the redhead's shoulder jokingly as you sat down next to her.
"ha ha, very funny, little miss," melissa deadpanned. you had asked her to stop calling you "kid" a few weeks ago. she respected your wishes by coming up with all sorts of endearing synonyms to call you instead. "what about you, jacob? you used to vape—ever experimented with mary jane?"
"or mark john?" you added. melissa snorted and gave you a playful swat on the arm.
"no, actually, i haven't," jacob said, rolling his eyes at your quip. "i didn't have many friends in high school or college, and after that i had to be drug tested regularly for teachers without borders. i never got the chance."
"well, if you ever feel like trying something new, i have plenty to share," you offered. "can't have you over at my place, though; every time i bring guests around, my crazy neighbor thinks they're cia operatives."
everyone in the room except melissa gave you a shocked look. barbara looked especially aghast, her brightly painted lips curled into an 'o' shape.
"damn, i thought janine was the only after-school stoner here. what a pleasant surprise!" ava broke the silence.
"i suppose i would partake given one of those weed pens you mentioned," jacob said to you. "the only thing i've been vaping lately is air, and it gets stale after a while."
"oh no, i haven't used a cart since high school," you clarified. "if you're smoking with me, you're smoking. don't worry, it's easy. just like vaping, but better in every way."
"first of all, no smoke circle is happening under my roof without me." melissa chimed in, looking at you with a silent question in her eyes. you nodded—of course you wanted her there. "and second, where do you even get the weed? if you buy the legal stuff from new york or massachusetts, you're not bringin' it to my house."
"i wouldn't dream of it," you affirmed. "i only smoke authentic philly weed. don't worry about it; i got a guy."
---
that friday night, you showed up on melissa's doorstep wearing a casual t-shirt dress, with a tote bag full of goodies slung over your shoulder. jacob was the one to answer the door.
"hey! come on in, melissa's making pizza," he said cheerfully, a bit jittery with anticipation.
you followed jacob inside and found melissa leaning over the kitchen island, smiling fondly at you. she was wearing sweatpants and a loose-fitting striped shirt, with her hair loose and a bit messy from cooking. she looked radiant and comfortable.
"you know, the pizza will taste better if we smoke before dinner," you proposed.
"bold of you to assume my pizza could taste any better," melissa joked back.
"i'm game," jacob said. "i want the full marijuana experience."
"in that case, help me set up," you said to the history teacher. "i want you to see how everything works."
you laid the contents of your tote bag out on the island countertop: a ziploc baggie full of flower, a little purple grinder, a holographic pink bowl, and a yellow lighter with white flowers on it.
"jacob, this is a grinder," you said, uncapping the grinder and opening the ziploc bag. "we're gonna use it to break up the flower into little pieces."
"oh wow, that is... pungent," jacob remarked. he watched as you ground up the weed, then handed the pink glass bowl to him.
"and this is a bowl, or a pipe if you're lame," you said. "you wanna do the honors?"
jacob grinned and reached into the grinder, bouncing excitedly on his heels. you put a hand on his shoulder to steady him. he filled the bowl, looking to you for approval several times while he did it.
"awesome, we're ready," you said. melissa placed her pizza in the oven and joined the circle.
"let's take it out on the patio," melissa suggested.
she led you and jacob out to the patio, a small ledge overlooking the city with three chairs conveniently set up in a tight circle. it was 7pm and the sun had just begun its descent, casting philadelphia in an orange glow.
the three of you sat down. you held the bowl up to your lips and moved to light it, but melissa snatched the lighter from your hand. she leaned in and held the flame to the bowl, her face inches from yours. you tried to concentrate on the task at hand, rather than her painted lips or her vivid green eyes dancing all over you.
you took a long inhale of the smoke and blew it up toward the sky. melissa plucked the bowl out of your hand and took a hit. she held the smoke in her lungs for an impressive amount of time for someone who didn't smoke regularly. she passed the still-lit bowl to jacob.
as soon as jacob took his hit, you knew it was gonna hurt. he overestimated his own lung capacity, and he didn't even finish blowing the smoke out before he was coughing.
"happens to everybody, pal," melissa patted jacob's back to ease his pain.
"ugh!" jacob sputtered between coughs. "why didn't you guys tell me smoking hurts?"
---
several rotations later, the three of you were high. well, you and melissa were high; jacob was outright fried. not altogether unexpected, but funny as hell.
when melissa's pizza was done, you all resolved to eat outside so you could watch the sunset together.
"this is heavenly, mel," you moaned after a delicious bite of the pizza.
"ha!" jacob exclaimed, and you and melissa turned to him, confused. meeting melissa's gaze, he threw his arms up in the air—like he expected her to understand what he meant by that one noise. "she stole two syllables from your name. you can't just take syllables, y/n. they're not yours."
"since when do you care about private property rights?" you quipped back before turning your attention to melissa. "i'm serious though. this pizza is sooo good. like last-meal-on-death-row good."
"keep talkin' sweet like that, and you can call me whatever you want," melissa replied with a wink, sending a flood of warmth to your face.
"what were we talking about? just now?" jacob chimed in, his eyes wide and darting every which way.
"... i actually don't know," you said with a giggle. you tried to remember, you really did. but you could feel melissa's eyes on you, and you heard her words echoing in your head. and it was hard to focus on anything else.
"short term memory loss! add that to the list of things you guys didn't warn me about," jacob scoffed.
"jacob, eat your damn pizza," melissa cut in. a peaceful smile graced her lips as she stared out at the city skyline, now a twilight blue in the absence of the sun. "i've missed this feeling, everythin' all fuzzy and light. how are you holding up, lovebug?"
your heart fluttered at the endearing name. melissa, it seemed, wore her heart on her sleeve when she was high—judging by the adoring way she gazed at you while she awaited your response. maybe the weed was messing with your head, but you swore she'd never looked so beautiful.
her eyes lacked any trace of the fire you were used to seeing (though they were quite red). for once, she wasn't on guard. her plump lips curled around her wine glass as she took a sip of merlot, vocalizing her sensual appreciation with a hum.
her long auburn hair was tucked behind her ears, resting on her shoulders in loose waves instead of her preferred meticulous curls. you wanted to run your fingers through her locks, feel their softness and smell her shampoo.
entranced by the redhead, you forgot she had asked you a question. melissa tapped your knee in reminder.
"i feel perfect," was your soft reply. you were beaming brightly before the sentence even finished. rather than sitting in a chair, you felt like you were floating on a cloud. the colors of melissa's patio and the sky blended together in a beautiful, swirling mosaic. the sounds of the city were clear and pleasant as philly wound down for the night. "i'm so happy."
"glad to hear it, sunshine. but i'm pretty sure jacob is asleep," melissa chuckled and patted the man's shoulder. he didn't stir, remaining slumped and conked out in his chair. "he's been losin' sleep over the kid who got suspended. bending over backwards trying to keep 'em on track."
"oh gosh," you said sympathetically before patting jacob a bit more firmly than melissa had. "jacob, hey. c'mon, it's time for bed. get up, go get cozy."
your words were slurred and hushed, but they seemed to pierce the veil of jacob's slumber as he awoke with a start.
melissa stood behind jacob's chair, gently rocking it back and forth to bring him back to the conscious world.
"can't go to bed, we just started," jacob grumbled, but his eyes were still closed. he was dangerously close to falling asleep again.
"from the looks of it, you're either gonna spend the night sleepin' in this chair or in your bed, so get up," melissa said resolutely.
"yeah, and besides, there's always next time," you assured jacob as he stretched and groaned his way into an upright position. you made eye contact with melissa, and this time you winked.
---
after helping jacob into bed (his motor skills really deteriorated when he got high) and smoking another bowl together, you and melissa were ready to continue your night.
"alright, sweetheart, it's down to you and me," melissa said, sitting down next to you on the couch. "what do you wanna do?" you pondered the question, looking around the room for inspiration.
"oh my god, you have a nintendo switch?" you asked excitedly, gesturing to the black tablet plugged in next to the cable box.
"that's jacob's. he showed me one of the games on there—animal crossing, i think it was. i don't get it. why play a game if you can't win?"
"alright, i know what we have to do now," you said, walking over to jacob's game cabinet and pulling out mario kart 8. holding the case up for melissa to see, you grinned. "four races. whoever wins gets whatever she wants from the other."
you were distantly aware of the implications, but you were too high to reconsider what you'd proposed.
you figured melissa would want something from your thoroughly decorated classroom if she won. if you won, you'd ask her to make you a custom pizza.
"you have no idea what you just started, hon," melissa said with a confident smirk.
"may the best woman win."
---
how the hell was she so good at everything?
melissa had needed some time to warm up to the switch controls, complaining about how the little red rectangle was too small to hold comfortably. but she was a quick learner with skilled fingers, and soon she was absolutely demolishing you.
it also didn't help that your coordination escaped you when you were high. you had driven off of too many ledges to count.
"two wins in a row for luigi," melissa bragged as she crossed the finish line of the third race. "hope you're ready to give me whatever i want, princess. don't think i forgot about our bet."
"daisy won the first race," you pointed out calmly. "i can still bring it back. but you know what this last race has to be?"
"what?"
"rainbow road. it's the perfect final showdown course," you explained, navigating to the course with your controller.
"get ready to be mine for a night," melissa said lowly. god, you knew she was talking about the bet, but she knew damn well what she was doing. by this point your panties were almost uncomfortably wet.
you leaned into her unconsciously as the race countdown began. you both held your controllers tight, almost shoulder to shoulder.
3...
2... (you push down the gas pedal button)
1...
GO!!!
daisy took off with a boost of speed thanks to your timing. luigi had a false start as his engine blew out. you cheered, and melissa cursed.
"how the fuck do you do that?" she asked, exasperated.
"play the game!" you demanded without looking away from the screen.
the competition was intense. you and melissa weaved around curves, nearly fell off the road, passed and bumped each other. neither one of you spoke until lap 3.
coming up on one of the last turns of the last lap, your hands jerked and you swerved. reacting on instinct, you bent your arms dramatically in the other direction to overcorrect.
melissa's arm bumped into yours, sending your controller flying out of your hands.
"hey!" you said, thinking she was cheating.
"hey yourself," she said, her eyes still fixed on the screen.
if she was gonna play dirty, so were you. you thrust your arm forward to grab her controller. but she saw you coming from a mile away. effortlessly, she shifted the controller into her left hand alone and held it up and out of your reach.
desperately competitive (and stupid high), you launched yourself toward the controller. you'd stop at nothing to get even. before you could snatch it out of her grasp, though, your balance faltered. you fell out of your position and started to fall backwards off the couch.
melissa dropped the controller and wrapped her arms around you, pulling you back up before you could hurt yourself. there was only one problem with this heroic act.
you were in her lap now.
her hands remained clasped at the small of your back, and your balance shifted forward. you put your arms out for stability, and wrapped them around her neck.
"careful, don't hurt your pretty head," melissa cooed. the two of you stared at each other for a moment. she surged forward and pressed her lips to yours.
if sitting outside with her felt like floating, kissing her and feeling her body against yours felt like riding the ocean waves. but unlike the atlantic, she was warm. you relaxed into her warmth as her tongue licked into your mouth.
you felt her tongue everywhere. in response to her, you gave a few tentative kitten licks. she moaned, she moaned, and pulled back before giving you one last kiss on the lips.
she stared at you with heated eyes for a while before switching her focus to the tv.
"look, baby," she said smugly while gesturing to the tv screen, where luigi was driving victory laps after placing first on rainbow road. "i won. you remember what that means?"
it was a fair question, considering how many conversations you forgot happened tonight. still, you nodded shyly and bit your lip.
"smart girl," melissa praised. "can you guess what i want from you?"
you shook your head no with a frown. melissa beamed and kissed you on the forehead. then she leaned in to whisper in your ear.
"i wanna touch you everywhere. i wanna hear your pretty voice moan my name and see your face scrunch up when you come. i want you to feel me all over you, and i want you to spend the rest of your life craving that feeling," melissa said her piece all at once, as if revealing a long-buried secret to you and herself.
you swallowed.
"would you let me do that?"
you nodded, pressing your forehead against hers.
"i need to hear you say it," she said softly, so softly you almost missed it.
"i want you, melissa. i have since the day we met."
that was all the confirmation melissa needed to attack your face and neck with kisses.
"sorry, let me just," melissa said as she pulled away abruptly and reached for the tv remote. she changed it to cable mode and navigated to the jazz music channel. "there we go, perfect."
"you're ridiculous," you giggled upon seeing melissa's proud face.
"honey," she leaned in to nip at your ear before whispering, "watch your mouth. you wanna be on my good side tonight, trust me."
you shuddered and wiggled in her lap, aching for her touch. a slow grin spread across her face and her hands found your legs, running up your thighs and lightly dragging her nails along your skin. they soon made their way up your waist to your breasts, cupping and squeezing them. melissa even took two fingernails and circled your nipples teasingly, to which you squeaked.
"do you know how many times i thought about havin' you like this?" melissa whispered. her voice was sweet like molasses and flowed right through you. you could feel your nipples tingling where her fingers had been, swimming in a bubble of desire. "in my lap, all whiny and squirmy."
she pinched your nipple and you keened. you held your breath as her hands once again traveled to your thighs, making a beeline for your core.
"and now i got my angel in my arms," she said, gently spreading your legs for better access. you sucked in a breath and trembled when her palm caressed you through your panties. "but i gotta say, even in my imagination you were never this wet for me."
she punctuated the sentence by pressing her pointer finger on your clit through the fabric, drawing tiny circles. you gasped and hid your face in her neck. the high made every touch feel like it rippled through your whole body. the world felt like it had been knocked off its axis, and melissa was your new center of gravity.
"aw, don't be embarrassed, babygirl. it's cute you're so sensitive," melissa soothed, easing you out of the crook of her neck to face her again. she trailed her fingers down to swirl around your wetness under your panties. "let me take care of you, yeah?"
---
a few minutes later, you were spread out on melissa's bed, naked save for your (now useless) panties. she'd practically carried you to her room as you were baked and horny and unable to walk straight.
in spite of your writhing and needy whines, the redhead took her time to savor you. she kissed every inch of your torso before she even considered taking your panties off, mumbling sweet nothings between love bites.
when she finally pulled away to admire her work, the view did not disappoint. you were panting and covered in melissa's marks, and god, you were her favorite piece of art ever created. all hers.
"alright, sweet girl, i know," she cooed as you continued to plead for her touch with your best pout and puppy eyes. unable to resist you, melissa hooked two fingers in the waistband of your panties. "i'm gonna slip these off ya, okay? there, down they go."
melissa discreetly tucked the saturated material into her pocket. not as a trophy or proof of her conquest; rather, a token from the first of many magical nights with her girl. she would treasure it.
she wasted no time getting situated between your legs so she was face-to-face with your pussy. she inhaled deeply, basking in the heady aroma of your arousal. you overwhelmed her senses. everything she saw, everything she smelled, everything she felt, everything she thought—it was all one big, bottomless pool of you. and there was only one sense left for you to conquer.
the first drag of her tongue up your slit set you ablaze, flames licking from your core all the way to your extremities and your head. she let out a small noise of appreciation, and you felt it more than you heard it.
"you taste like fuckin' heaven," melissa rumbled between determined licks through your folds. her comment reminded you of the pizza, and you found yourself amused at how much things had changed in just a few hours.
"last-meal-on-death-row good?" you joked, and melissa seized the moment of levity to latch onto your clit. you cried out before remembering jacob was sleeping in the next room. you clapped a hand over your mouth.
"mhmmmmm," she moaned in agreement, and the vibrations on your bundle felt incredible. "but if you're still crackin' jokes, i'm not doin' my job."
with that, she shut you up completely. her tongue poked at your clit between harsh sucks. your back arched and melissa changed her strategy, prodding at your entrance with her tongue while her fingers took over on your clit. when her tongue penetrated you, you bit down on your hand to keep from screaming.
"i said i wanna hear you, remember?" melissa pulled out to chastise you.
"but jacob—" you managed.
"is passed out. he's dead to the world. now sing for me, angel," melissa's tongue dove back into your weeping cunt and lapped at your walls. you wailed her name.
"oh, mel, right—ahhh—there!" you mewled as her tongue teased your most sensitive spot. now that she'd located her target, melissa changed her play once again. two fingers replaced her tongue and crooked into your g-spot while her mouth returned to your clit. "close..."
melissa nodded her permission, her mouth busy with your button. with another hard roll of your clit between her lips and drive of her fingers into your sweet spot, you fell apart. you moaned and cried unbidden as she worked you through your orgasm, which felt twice as powerful thanks to the intoxication factor. your body shook in the grip of seemingly endless waves of heat.
your climax eventually died down and you squirmed away from melissa's touch. your mouth opened in dismay when instead of staying by your side, she stood up and disappeared into her closet.
after a short while, the older woman reappeared by your side. she was now nude and sporting a long, girthy strap-on. she placed a few other items on the nightstand, but you couldn't tear your eyes away from the thick faux cock. unless it was to look at her gorgeous tits, which swung with her every move. she was a goddess.
"okay, sweets, i'm gonna spell this out nice and slow because i know your brain is a little messy right now," she said as she crawled on top of you. "i'm gonna fuck you with my strap. and i know it's so big, but i have this to help you take it."
melissa reached over to the nightstand and retrieved a green mini wand vibrator. her intentions were clear, and you gulped. the redhead peppered kisses all over your face in reassurance.
"now relax, little love. let me in," melissa instructed as the wand buzzed to life. she smeared your wetness around your clit with her fingers, then pulled back its hood to position the vibrator tightly against your nub. even the lowest setting was a shock at such a direct angle.
while you were distracted trying to adjust to the clitoral stimulation, melissa aligned the tip of the dildo with your entrance and pushed in. you both groaned, and you felt yourself stretch around the toy. melissa turned up the vibrations on your clit as she progressed to being fully seated inside you.
"that's a good girl, so brave," melissa cooed. you thrashed underneath her, the sensations overstimulating you. the pain of the intrusion staved off a powerful orgasm from the wand vibrator.
again, you wondered if the drugs were messing with your mind—the dildo felt indistinguishable from a part of mel's body, and you were full to the brim of her.
as she began to rock her hips back and forth, you saw her bite her lip. you assumed that the strap had some kind of clit attachment for her based on the telltale signs of pleasure.
melissa built up a steady rhythm and drank in your pathetic sounds of pleasure. her tits swung in your face with every thrust, and you made a mental note to give them proper attention next time. with another tactical increase to the wand's speed, you felt yourself approaching the edge once more.
"you gettin' close? yeah, i can tell. feels too good to hide it, huh bunny?" that was a new one. you clenched at her words and she set the wand to its maximum power, rubbing it up and down on your clit. your vision went white and you spun out of reality as you came. "that's my girl. good little princess, coming so hard for me."
with a few more thrusts, melissa also came to a release. she shuddered and shimmied her hips at random while she rode it out. as soon as she recovered, she turned off the green wand and relieved you. next, she eased herself out of and off of you.
with a chaste peck to your lips, she sat upright and reached for the nightstand. she smiled at your fucked-out expression as she laid out the pajamas she'd picked out for you.
you watched in awe as she took off the strap and put on her own sleep clothes. her red hair was wild from the night's activities and glowed like a warm hearth against the white backdrop of her walls.
in your state, you wanted nothing more than to cuddle up with melissa and fall asleep. but she insisted that you get ready for bed so that you'd be comfortable through the night. she guided you into the bathroom and gave you a new toothbrush to use.
returning to the bedroom, you found a silky green nightgown with flowers on it waiting on the bed for you. given your exhausted and intoxicated state, melissa had to help you into it. neither of you minded. as a reward for your cooperation, she gave you a kiss.
the two of you snuggled into bed, tucked in together with you curled up against her chest. the tides of slumber lapped at your feet.
"g'night, lovebug," melissa whispered as you drifted off. "sleep well. see you in the morning."
and tomorrow would be the first of a lifetime of tomorrows waking up in her arms.

PECSA Weekend: One Bed
Synopsis: You are a teacher at Abbott Elementary and Barb knows Melissa has feelings for you. During PECSA weekend, Barb, being sick of the both of you avoiding your feelings for each other, only booked two hotel rooms, leaving you and Mel to share. It is just your luck that there was only one bed...
Pairing: Melissa Schemmenti x Reader
Word Count: 2.8K
Tumblr media
It had been a regular day at Abbott Elementary; a lovely blend of chaos, humour, and heartwarming moments. You had gotten to school an hour early that day, which left you with the much-needed time to prep your classroom for your students, and most importantly, brew a cup of coffee.
Upon entering the breakroom, you noticed that you weren't the only one who arrived early–Melissa's gaze turned away from the news on the television and focused on you. "Ey, Good Morning early bird. How's it going?" she greeted.
"It will be much better when I wake up with some caffeine. How about you?" you replied.
"Ah, you know Tesoro, I'm feeling quite good but maybe it's the anticipation of seeing you."
You blushed profusely–Melissa never failed to make you blush. The attraction you had for her was so strong, she was always on your mind. Contrary to your belief, but obvious to every single teacher at Abbott, Melissa felt the same about you. She loved to make you blush every chance she got. However, Mel had no idea you felt the same way about her, so she just playfully flirted with you; she didn't push any further since she didn't want to ruin your existing friendship.
"Mel, you're such a sweetheart. I hate to cut this short, but I need to head back to my class and prepare for my students. I'll catch you later at lunch," you said, as you left the room with the biggest smile and your cheeks still pink and warm.
Tumblr media
As the weekend approached, anticipation buzzed through the halls of Abbott Elementary–the excitement for PECSA weekend was immense. The annual Pennsylvania Educational Conference for the Southeast Area was a time for teachers to come together to discuss their teaching, but truly, veteran teachers Barbara and Melissa were looking forward to the Math-a-ritas.
However, this year was different. Barbara knew you and Melissa were both whipped out of your minds for each other, and this predicament was quite frankly getting on her nerves. She knew she needed to intervene since the two of you would not get your heads out of your asses.
In the breakroom, the three of you were sitting in your usual places for lunch; Barb beside Mel, and you next to Mel, naturally.
"Well, is everyone excited for PECSA weekend?" Barb asks, humming in excitement.
"Of course," you state with a smile.
Barbara directed her attention towards you, "Which got me thinking... Maybe you should join us? It would be a shame to miss out on all the fun together."
"Oh, uh, I don't know..." you glance toward Melissa, a hint of uncertainty in your expression.
"I'd love to have you join us, Piccola. It'll be fun," Melissa adds.
"As long as I wouldn't be intruding," you reply hesitantly.
"Oh, trust me, you wouldn't be intruding at all! We'd be thrilled to have you join us. It's gonna be a blast, and the more, the merrier, right?" Barbara reassures you, "Plus, I've got a feeling Melissa would be thrilled to have you there."
As Barbara finished her sentence, Melissa shot her a playful scowl, her cheeks flushing slightly.
You couldn't help but grin at Melissa's reaction, feeling a flutter of excitement in your chest at the thought of spending more time with her outside of school. "Well, if Melissa insists, who am I to refuse?" you say with a playful wink.
Melissa rolled her eyes, though the smile tugging at her lips betrayed her true feelings.
Barbara knowingly chuckles at the exchange, pleased with herself for putting the beginning stages of her plan in motion. "Great! It's settled then. PECSA weekend, here we come!"
Tumblr media
The weekend has commenced and you found yourself packed and ready to go, excitement bubbling in your chest. When you heard a knock at your front door indicating Melissa's arrival to pick you up, you couldn't shake the nervous anticipation that swirled within you. The prospect of spending the weekend with Melissa was both exhilarating and nerve-wracking.
When you opened the door, your breath caught in your throat, "Hey Mel." It was a reflex; whenever you saw her, her mere presence always left you momentarily speechless.
"Ya ready to hit the road?" she asked, her smile infectious.
"Absolutely, thanks for picking me up," you state gratefully.
After you put your bag in the trunk and crawled into the back seat of the car, your voyage to PECSA commenced. The atmosphere was relaxed as Melissa took the wheel, with Barb in the passenger seat beside her. Without much time at all, the two of them fell into their all too recognizable banter.
Sensing the opportunity, Barbara leaned back in her seat with a glint in her eye. "You know," she began, her voice laced with humour, "I suggest that you all drop your vices and take a hit of my drug of choice — J.E.S.U.S. Street name: Christ" she exclaims.
Melissa raised an eyebrow, feigning offence. "Uh, you've been known to demolish those little bottles of Chardonnay."
"And you snort that liquid marijuana." Barbara countered.
Their teasing sent you into a choke of laughter. Although amusing, their witty remarks settled a familiar ambiance you all appreciated.
As you sank deeper into the back seat, you found yourself stealing glances at Mel in the rearview mirror, unable to resist admiring her effortless beauty. It is unfair that one could look as good as Mel, while simply operating a motor vehicle.
Once you reached the hotel and the car was parked, you and Melissa unloaded the luggage, while Barbara went to the front desk to get your room keys.
When you walk into the hotel, you are met with a concerned-looking Barb, "It seems there's been a mix-up regarding the number of rooms booked, and unfortunately, there are only two rooms available."
In reality, this mix-up was not an accident–it was part of Barb's master plan to push you and Mel beyond the boundary of friendship. "Apologies for the mix-up, everyone. Now, how should we-"
"We can share," Melissa cuts her off while linking arms with you.
You felt your cheeks flush with heat as you exchanged a nervous glance with Melissa. "Yeah, of course."
"Perfect, it's settled then," Barbara handed you the room key and winked knowingly at the two of you before heading off to her room, leaving you and Melissa standing awkwardly in the hallway.
Taking a deep breath, you turned to Melissa with a hesitant smile. "So, I guess we're roommates for the weekend."
Melissa returned your smile, her expression softening. "Yeah, looks like it. Should be interesting."
As your shoulders lightly brushed against each other, you both navigated the hallway, tracing the numbered signs until your room came into view.
As you both stepped into the hotel room, a peculiar realization dawned upon you–there was only one bed. Your heart quickened as your gaze involuntarily shifted towards Melissa.
"So, uh, any preferences on who gets the bed?" you asked, attempting to ease the tension that hung in the air.
Melissa responded with a nonchalant shrug, "Well, there's only one, so I guess we'll have to share. No one wants to sleep on the floor, right?"
Your heart skipped a beat at her words, but you tried to play it cool. "Right, makes sense."
You were doomed.
Melissa broke the silence with a suggestion, "How about we head down to the pool and grab some drinks?"
"I'm in," you replied without hesitation. You knew a drink would be necessary to steady your nerves, especially with the prospect of sharing a bed with the woman you were in love with.
As you descended to the poolside, Barb was already there, greeting you both with a playful smirk adorning her lips. "Well, well, well, look who finally decided to join the party," she teased, raising an eyebrow at the two of you.
After taking a seat beside Barbara, a server approached with a tray of drinks. Melissa swiftly snagged a couple of Math-a-ritas, passing one to you with a wink.
"Here's to PECSA weekend," she declared, raising her glass in a toast.
You clinked your drink against hers, a grin spreading across your face. "To PECSA weekend."
After a couple of drinks in your system, tearing your eyes away from Melissa became an increasingly grueling task. Bathed in the golden hue of the sun, she seemed to exude an otherworldly allure, her features accentuated by the gentle light.
It was as if every glance only served to deepen the spell she unknowingly cast upon you. From the delicate way she brushed a stray lock of hair behind her ear, to the infectious sound of her laughter, each moment spent in her presence seemed to send you further into the depths of your emotions. Melissa was more than just attractive; she was captivating, a force that left you unable to break free from the mesmerizing hold she had over you.
"Hey, you okay?" Mel asked, shaking you out of your trance with a hint of concern in her voice as she noticed your distant expression. She had caught you staring.
"Yeah, sorry about that," you replied, offering her a sheepish smile. "Just lost in thought for a moment."
Melissa grinned, her eyes laced with amusement. "Must have been some pretty deep thoughts," she teased, giving you a playful nudge.
You chuckled, as you felt a flush of embarrassment creep onto your cheeks. "Just admiring the view," you said, gesturing vaguely to the poolside surroundings.
Her laughter rang out, a melodic sound that filled the air. "Well, I can't say I blame you."
The rest of the evening passed in a blur of laughter and conversation between the three of you, but eventually, the time came for you and Melissa to retire to your shared room for the evening.
After preparing for bed, you found yourselves lying side by side under the covers, a palpable tension hanging in the air. Despite the deepening connection between you, there was an unspoken understanding that crossing certain boundaries could jeopardize the precious bond you shared.
Something unbeknownst to you, however, beneath Melissa's tough exterior lay a secret longing for intimacy–a desire to break down the barriers between you and bask in the comfort of your embrace.
To your surprise, as you lay there, you felt Melissa's arm snake around your waist. This caused you to immediately tense up, your heart pounding in your ears as conflicting emotions engulfed you. On one hand, you've always wanted this—longed for the closeness and affection that Melissa's touch promised. But on the other hand, her unexpected move left you feeling confused and uncertain.
As Melissa's warmth seeped into your skin, you couldn't help but wonder about the implications of her actions. Was Mel attracted to you? Or was this simply a gesture of platonic affection? The questions floated in your mind, but before you could voice your thoughts, Melissa shifted closer, her breath ghosting over your ear as she whispered softly, "Is this okay?"
Her words send a shiver down your spine, the tenderness in her voice melted away your doubts and fears. With a hesitant nod and a whispered "yes," you surrendered to her embrace, gently placing your hand atop hers, allowing the warmth and intimacy of the moment to envelop you.
As the night wore on, neither of you could sleep, your feelings occupying your minds and you couldn't take it anymore, in a moment of recklessness, you turned towards Mel so your chests were pressed against each other and your eyes locked. Your breath hitched as you lowered your gaze to her lips, savouring the sight of their softness, their allure drawing you in. When your eyes flick back to meet hers, you're met with dilated pupils, a silent invitation that ignited a firestorm of desire within you.
With a trembling hand, you slowly tangled your fingers into her fiery red hair, relishing the silky texture beneath your touch. Your heart pounded in your ears, the anticipation reaching a peak as you guided your mouths together with a hunger that bordered on desperation.
Melissa tensed at the suddenness of your action, and for a split second, you feared you'd made a mistake.
"Mel, I-I'm so sorry, I didn't mean-" But before you could apologize, she surprised you by pulling you back to her lips with an urgency that matched your own. The kiss was warm and passionate. And as you lost yourself in the intoxicating taste of her lips, you realized that this is where you were always meant to be—wrapped in her arms.
"I've been wanting to do that for so long," Melissa confessed after you broke apart, her voice barely above a whisper.
You couldn't help but smile, the weight of her words lifting a burden from your shoulders. "Me too," you admitted, your heart overflowing with emotion.
And as you lay together, wrapped in each other's embrace, you knew that this was just the beginning of a love that would last a lifetime.
Tumblr media
The morning light filtered delicately through the curtains, casting a soft glow upon the tangled sheets where you and Melissa lay intertwined. With a contented sigh, you shifted closer to her, savouring the rhythmic rise and fall of her chest against yours. As if stirred by your movement, her eyes fluttered open.
"Good morning," you whispered softly, brushing a stray strand of auburn hair behind her ear.
"Morning," Mel murmured, her voice husky with sleep as she tightened her embrace around you.
For a fleeting moment, you lay there basking in the intimacy of the morning, the outside world fading into insignificance.
"I could stay like this forever," Mel confessed softly, her breath warm against your neck.
Your heart fluttered at her words, a blush rising to your cheeks as you pressed a gentle kiss to her temple.
"I mean... I wouldn't mind that" you admitted shyly, your lips grazing against her skin. "But we should probably get up soon," you chuckled, the reality of the day's plans creeping back into your consciousness. "Barb will likely be waiting to have breakfast before we head home."
"Yeah, I know," Mel sighed, reluctantly releasing you from her hold.
"But can we stay like this just a little while longer?" she groaned, her voice laden with desire, before drawing you into a kiss that ignited with a slow ecstasy. Your lips traced a path to Mel's neck, planting a series of tender kisses that culminated in a gentle bite, eliciting a whimper from her.
As she trailed kisses down your neck in response, a soft moan escaped your lips prompting her to shift her focus. She captured your mouth with hers, her tongue delving deep into your mouth. Your hand instinctively slid up her back beneath her shirt, caressing and exploring the warmth of her skin. It took every ounce of willpower to pull away from her at that moment. You stare at her, both of your breaths coming ragged as you met Mel's gaze, both of you wide-eyed and flushed with desire.
"Mel... it's time to go to brunch," you managed, your voice strained with longing. "I can guarantee you, there will be more of this later," you added with a suggestive nod toward the tousled sheets.
"Fine," Melissa huffs, playfully rolling her eyes, but a smile still plastered on her lips.
But before she could get out of bed, you grabbed her arm, "I'm glad this happened you know," you confessed, your voice barely above a whisper. "I've seriously had my eyes on you since I started working at Abbott. I was losing it seeing you come into work every day looking so good and I had to pretend as if I didn't notice."
"Is that so... well, I'll be sure to give you something to notice next time we're at work," Mel smirks at you and smacks your ass as she untangles herself from you in favour of getting dressed.
Tumblr media
Later, at brunch, Barbara's eyes widened in surprise as she took in the scene before her. Her gaze flicked between you and Melissa, her lips curling into a mischievous smile as she noticed the telltale marks scattered across both of your necks.
"Looks like someone had a good night," she teased, her tone laced with amusement.
Confusion gave way to recognition as you noticed the purple bruises scattered across Mel's neck, and her eyes widened as she noticed similar marks on yours.
A silent understanding passed between the two of you as Melissa chuckled softly, leaning in closer to you as she reached for her coffee. "We may have gotten a little carried away," she admits with a wink.
Barbara laughed, shaking her head in amusement. "Well, I'm glad to see you two are finally getting your act together," she says, her tone affectionate. "It's about time."

Kelly Green
Tumblr media
Melissa Schemmenti x reader
Genre: fluff, some VERY suggestive language, alludes heavily to smut
Word Count: 2.3k
Prompt: "mel x reader where they’re dating and the r keeps stealing mel’s eagles sweatshirt and one day mel finds the reader all curled up on the couch sleeping with the sweater on.."
--------------------
“Honey?” You hear Melissa call in your shared bedroom from where you sit at the bathroom vanity that was once just hers. The products that litter the surface are a mix of both of yours; Melissa’s various pens and bottles sitting on one side, neatly tucked into a makeup back, your own strewn across the surface as you try to prepare yourself for the day ahead, “Have you seen my lucky sweatshirt anywhere?”
You know exactly the one she’s talking about. It’s game day so there is only one item of clothing she will wear and it’s her relic of a sweatshirt. The heather grey material is a little discolored and frayed around the edges from years of constant use and the green print that displays the Eagles logo across the front is cracked beyond belief, making it nearly impossible to read the Kelly green font.
“Babe?” She calls again, “Are you even listening?” The slight panic in her voice is evident as you realize you haven’t actually answered her yet. You stare back at your reflection in the mirror from the padded stool on which you sit, hair curled and makeup half-applied after your shower, Melissa’s silk robe you grabbed from its hook on the back of the door currently resting on your shoulders and tied loosely around your waist.
You sigh as you realize you should probably go and help the redhead and rise from your seat, anticipating the level of stress you’ll no doubt find her in.
When you cross the threshold from cold tiled flooring to the soft carpet of the bedroom, you immediately find Melissa torso deep in the chest of drawers that holds most of her clothing. She hasn’t even noticed you yet, the entire top half of her body nearly submerged in the sea of shirts as she rummages through them frantically. You can hear her mumbling something about “that goddamn sweater” as she digs through the drawer, your presence unnoticed.
You don’t want to get too close to the scene, knowing that you could get hit by one of the sweater-turned-projectiles that your dear wife is currently throwing halfway across the room, not bothering to look back and see where they land. Instead, you choose to lean back against the doorway from which you just entered and admire the view of Melissa bending over in the tightest pair of leather pants she owns. Game day has its advantages, and every single one of them are those pants. You decide to finally put her out of her misery and break the silence.
“You know it’s not going to be in there, right?” The sound of your voice immediately catches her attention, and she jumps, caught off guard by the intrusion and nearly hitting her head on the drawer above her head that sits ajar above the current focus of her attention. “The last game day was literally a week ago, so it’s probably folded up by the dryer somewhere downstairs.”
In reality you know it’s not anywhere near the dryer; it’s in your own chest of drawers that Melissa doesn’t dare to touch. She can’t know that you’ve taken it, especially not now when she’s this far into what is coming close to a nervous breakdown.
You didn’t even mean for it to take up residence among the rest of your clothing. It just happened last weekend when Melissa was out shopping and lunching with Barbara and you quite simply missed her, choosing to curl up in the sweater that she’s worn since long before you met. It just never found its way back to its rightful home and is now tucked away safely among your countless band t-shirts on the other side of the bedroom.
After what feels like an eternity of watching your wife rifling through her own clothing, she finally stands from her crouched position, grumbling about her knees and gripping the edge of the cabinet, and turns to meet you.
“How about I check the dryer for you, hm?” You ask as she turns slowly, her stiff muscles making it difficult to do so quickly. The stress in her features is evident, the crease between her eyebrows prominent from her furrowed brow. Her face softens as she meets your eye-line from where you rest against the door from, arms folded and head leaning against the wood.
“I’ve already checked, it’s definitely not there,” she replied, taking a few steps closer to where you stand. As she moves you can’t help but notice her eyes dipping down your frame, taking in your form. Her expression has gone from stressed, soft, to starving in seconds. “You know, I never even noticed that this is what you looked like right now.”
She’s crossed the room already and stands in front of you, arms reaching out to wrap around your waist and bring you away from the door frame, toward her. Your own arms unfold and lace themselves around her neck, her red curls brushing against your wrists as you move. You scratch at the nape of her neck lightly, knowing that it calms her even in her most tumultuous of moments.
“I haven’t even put my eyelashes on yet,” you huff. “I’m literally nowhere near ready.”
Her eyes dip down again, your own following her gaze to see exactly what she finds so interesting. She wraps her arms tighter around you, bringing your body impossibly closer to her own. Her hands dip lower, brushing against the small of your back, bunching your robe and holding you in place.
“You know, that isn’t a bad thing at all.” You can hear the smirk in her voice and your suspicions are confirmed when you look up and see that all too familiar expression laced across her features. Her dimples are deepened by the quirk of her lip, her eyebrow raised almost as if in a challenge. Your eyes dip down to her lips just as her tongue darts out to lick her bottom lip, coated with sticky pink shimmering gloss. When you look back up again you know you’ve been caught.
You feel the heat rise up your neck, covering your chest in a pink blush. Even after all this time, Melissa’s flirting still makes you feel like a teenager. You can feel her subtly maneuver your body so that your back rests against the painted wall and not the sharp doorframe, narrowly missing the large wooden picture frame that protects an image of the Philly skyline.
You know she’s proud of herself and the flustered state she’s got you in. Her lips haven’t even touched your own yet and you’re already putty in her hands, the task at hand completely forgotten. You feel her press into you, pushing you further into the wall, her leg coming to rest between your own.
Her hands still hold your waist, keeping you in place and precisely where she wants you. The contact burns through your robe, the same way her eyes burn holes into your skin. When her eyes meet yours, you can see how dark they’ve become, the emerald green almost unrecognizable from the blown nature of her pupils. Her one hand leaves the comfort of your waist and instead trails up your body to rest at your jaw, her thumb coming to rest on your bottom lip.
“You know, we’ve still got some time,” she says lowly, her eyebrow arched again. She knows you can never say no to her, especially when she looks as delicious as she does right now. The combination of her tight pants and buttoned plaid shirt makes your head spin, the sleeves rolled up to her elbows and buttons undone slightly so you can see the smooth expanse of milky skin beneath. Her gaze runs down your body again and you feel yourself shiver under her scrutiny, goosebumps instantly appearing where her eyes follow. She leans closer, pressing her lips to your rosy cheek. “What do you say, pretty girl?”
“My eyes are up here,” you whisper, the words catching in your throat as she presses her lips to your neck, using the hand on your jaw to keep you still and precisely where she wants you. You can feel the tackiness of her lips as they press into your skin, moving their way up toward your ear. Melissa’s breathing has gotten heavier, and you know there must be a trail of pink across your skin from the redhead’s attack.
“I know,” she breathes into your ear, her deepened voice making your knees weaken. “Can’t I admire my beautiful wife?” She asks. You can hear the smirk in her voice and feel it where her lips press into your jaw, immediately giving her intentions away, as if the thigh pressing into the heat between your legs and the fist she has burrowed into the back of your robe doesn’t already. That same hand snakes its way around your waist, your wife pulling you impossibly closer as she continues to melt your hard exterior and quickly make use of what little time you have left.
She uses the positioning to her advantage by sliding her hand around your thigh and lifting, bringing her even closer to your core. The sudden movement causes you to gasp, and her smirk only intensifies against your neck, turning into a full-blown shit-eating grin. You wrap your leg around her waist from where you stand, not letting her move away any time soon.
She pulls her head back to look into your eyes, the green entirely replaced by her black pupils. Her lipgloss has smudged past the edge of her lips, almost matching the rosy hue of her cheeks, and her hair is mussed from where your hands have been buried within her red locks. This is one of your favourite versions of Melissa. She’s clearly hungry for whatever you can give.
“How long do ya think we’ve got before Janine panics over us not being at the bar?” she asks, eyes trained on the pink glittery trail she’s left across your jaw. She’ll have to help you reapply your make-up later.
“Probably an hour?” You respond, following her eyeliner as she admires her work, “But it’s never going to take that long, let’s be real.”
Your words cause her eyes to snap up to meet yours, her mouth breaking into an instant grin, the lines around her eyes growing deeper at her joy.
“I say we test your theory,” she says seconds before she spins you, leading you backward toward your bed.
That was three weeks ago and she had all but forgotten about her sweater, her thoughts preoccupied with the other more important issues at hand. That was until she had walked back into your home one evening after her usual Saturday afternoon lunch with her Nonna. You would usually attend these lunches, finding the older Sicilian woman’s takes on the world incredibly entertaining but a week of testing means that you were far too behind on grading.
When Melissa closes the heavy wooden door to your home, her belly and heart full, she can’t help but notice the eerie quietness. The usual music is playing from the radio on the kitchen counter, but instead of blasting some cheesy pop song that Melissa loves to pretend to hate she’s greeted by the dulcet tones of Carly Simon’s subdued crooning.
She makes her way across the wooden floor, stepping carefully so her high-heeled boots can’t make the usual cracking noise with each step. When she rounds the corner into the living room, she is greeted by the dim light of a candle that has nearly reached the end of its wick, the sickly sweet scent of vanilla filling the room. She can see where you sit on the couch, the top of your head where a hastily thrown up bun sits giving away your location. You clearly haven’t noticed her presence yet, not moving at the noise of her walking closer.
When she rounds the side of the sofa, Melissa can see that you’re not in fact hard at work but have evidently fallen asleep mid-grading. Your legs are a tangled mess where they rest along the length of the sofa, the plastic that protected the material had been removed long ago when you moved in with the red head, your relationship still fairly new but clearly thriving.
Your head rests against the cushion of the sofa behind you, pen still in hand and paper discarded where it lays in your lap. Melissa can’t help but laugh lightly, thinking about just how many times she’s managed to find you in this exact position over the years. Your fluffy socks and bright red plaid pyjama pants are the image of comfort, she thinks, as she takes in the sight of you- wait a second, is that her Eagles sweater? The sight makes her jaw fall open in disbelief and everything clicks into place.
The subject changes whenever it was brought up in conversation suddenly make so much sense to her now. She can’t help but chuckle and shake her head slightly, impressed that you had managed to misdirect her for so long but so enamoured that you could do all that just for a sweater. She would have let you wear it if you had asked, but she thinks it’s probably better to make you feel the achievement of swindling her out of her favourite item of clothing.
Her heart feels impossibly full as she looks down at you where you rest, glass askew on your face and soft snores filling the room. Even if the losing streak the Eagles endured at the end of the season are a result of Melissa not wearing her sweater on game days, she would take the losses a million times over if it meant she could come home to this sight every evening.

Warnings: None?
Words: 3k
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You have been visiting the same grocery store since you moved to the neighborhood a few weeks ago. They had the best selection of vegetables in the area and the best brands of Italian food. You couldn’t find canned San Marzanos anywhere and this little store always had them in stock. You weren’t Italian yourself, just a big fan of their cuisine. You enjoyed learning new recipes and pasta has always been a guilty pleasure of yours. But the truth is, you have found another guilty pleasure, funnily enough, another Italian one.
The second weekend you went into the store, you were just browsing in the deli section when you spotted a beautiful redheaded woman fighting the worker over a kilo of salami. You couldn’t help but stare at her in amusement. “Something something… ripping me off…ain’t a fool..something something” is all you could hear. Not necessarily because she was out of earshot, but because you were so mesmerized by her, her attitude, her beauty, her curves, that you couldn’t hear a word. After a few seconds you realized you were staring and decided to keep doing your shopping.  As you were standing by the produce aisle, you see the redhead walk out, her determined victorious walk after probably winning her argument. Who wouldn’t give her anything she wants? You say to yourself as you watch her sway her hips out of the establishment.
You go about your day as normal, finish your grocery shopping, pick up an iced coffee and there you go back to your “work from home” job. You sit in front of the computer responding to emails and going over your list of pending tasks and projects. You try to concentrate and be productive, but you can’t. Your mind is clouded by visions of that gorgeous stranger at the store. Her raspy voice echoing through your head. You shake your head as if doing that will get her out of there. You hope she is a regular at the store, you wish you could see her again.
You go about your week, smiling every time you remember the perfect stranger. You keep hoping next weekend you get to see her again. You wonder if you should go at the same time and decide that thats probably the best idea. Friday afternoon you head to the store, grocery shopping list in hand, searching for the ingredients you need to make your Italian dish of the weekend. You hope to be there for a long time, hopefully long enough to see her again. You browse every aisle slowly, constantly looking around, but nothing. You finished shopping .“It was just wishful thinking huh” you say to yourself as you start walking back to your car while carrying your groceries. They might be heavy but heavier was your disappointment. You are lost in your thoughts when you feel someone bump into you making you drop a bag, “I am so sorry, hon” the redhead says to you while helping you pick up your stuff. You don’t say anything, just stare at her as she screams to someone on the phone. “See Gary I just made a girl drop her stuff because you wont stop calling me and made me be late to my grocery shopping, stop calling me, you bozzo”.
“Boyfriend problems?” - you said and instantly regretted it.
Melissa looked at you as if you had asked her for her social security number. Her face immediately relaxing after realizing you were just an innocent girl who she had just inconvenienced. “Something like that, my ex” she gave you a soft smile as she started to talk away.
“Th- Thank you” - you said nervously and quickly realized it made no sense, she made you drop your stuff, what were you thanking her for? Her existence? Yes, but you can’t tell her that. That makes absolutely no sense.
Melissa chuckles, “Anytime, hon” - she says, as if she somehow understood what you meant.
You walk to your car with the biggest smile in your face. You got to see this beautiful woman again and you will go on to think about her for days to come. Hoping to run into her again sometime soon.
Weeks pass by and you stay with this woman very present in your mind, you stop going to the store every weekend, since you are scared of looking like a stalker, a cute one, but a stalker nonetheless. Instead you assume your role of the yearning lesbian, seeing her in every little thing you do, making every song about her.
It is a Tuesday afternoon and you have already finished your meeting for the day, so you decide to lay on the couch and watch Carol for the 20th time this week. A movie about an age gap relationship, who would have thought?
In that moment your phone rings, it is your best friend Laura, the person you were the closest to in this world and the whole reason you moved to Philly in the first place. She was raising her daughter Melanie by herself and you figured you could offer her some support, since the little girl was your world.
“Hi y/n, what are you doing other than thinking about this mystery woman?” - your best friend said in a mocking tone.
“Uh nothing much, why? - you say without humoring her comment.
“Can you please pick up Melanie at Abbott? I got tied up at work and I can’t make it. I am sorry I will make it up to you”.
“Nonsense, I am on my way”
“You are an angel y/n”
“Oh I know” - you say as you walk out of the door and make your way to Abbott Elementary, having no idea of the surprise that awaited for you at the school.
You arrive and park in the nearly empty parking lot, most of the students were already gone, since Laura didn’t call you until it was already way past the dismissing bell. You run inside the school, looking for your niece. You walk past a classroom and spot her. Sitting next to her, is her teacher. You can’t believe your eyes. You shake your head as if somehow she was a hallucination. “There is no way”, you say to yourself as you try to muster the courage to open the door. You take a deep breath and open the door.
“Hi, I am here for Melanie” - you say and your niece starts running towards you, your eyes moving away from the redhead in order to pick her up.
“Hi, I am y/n, Melanie’s auntie. Well I am her moms best friend but she is a niece to me” - you say to the redhead, her looking at you with an unreadable expression.
“I have seen you before, haven’t I?” - Melissa asks you raising her eyebrow.
“Uhm maybe? I live nearby” - you tell her trying to keep your cool and not immediately say “yes yes, you go to the same store as me and I have been hoping to see you every weekend since that time I watched you fight that guy in the deli over a kilo of salami. I have thought of you every day and I want nothing more than to run my hands all over you”.
She looks at you unsure, thats not it. She knows you from somewhere else.
“Ahhh I think I have seen you at Claudio’s, I go there all the time” - you tell her trying to keep your cool.
“Oh yes yes, you were the girl I ran into when my dumbass ex was trying to talk my ear off” - she says with a smile. “You italian?”
“No, just an italian fan”
“Is that so?” - she says raising her eyebrow and you realize how that might have come off.
“Of italian food, that is Ms.”
“Ms Schemmenti, Melissa” - she extends her hand for you to shake it and you can’t help but stare at how beautiful they are, her fingers, oh your mind is wandering. You gulp before you take it in yours and give her a soft handshake.
“Pleasure to officially meet you, Ms Schemmenti” - you say as you look into her beautiful emerald eyes, they look like they could hypnotize anyone, if you weren’t already under her spell, they would have done the trick.
“Well, I better go” - you say and start walking away as your niece waves good bye to her favorite teacher.
“Y/n?” - Melissa says and your entire body stiffens. “Hope to see you at Claudio’s soon” - she winks and gives you the most wicked smile.
You walk out of the building with the biggest smile on your face. “Melissa, Melissa” you repeat in your brain. Of course such a goddess has such a beautiful name. And she wants to see you again? Is she playing you? Does she mean it? Could she tell you like her? Who knows, but you are definitely showing up at Claudio’s this weekend.
On your drive back home you ask your niece all sorts of questions about her teacher. All her answers making her sound even more perfect. “I love Ms. Schemmenti. She seems tough but she is so sweet, she always helps me when I struggle with my math problems. She gives the best hugs but that is a secret. Only her little eagles know. She is so pretty too” - Melanie tells you.
“Yes, yes she is, munchkin” - you sigh to yourself, picturing how gorgeous she looked today.
____________________________________________________
Saturday came around and you just couldn’t wait for it to be time to go to the store. You knew it would probably be obvious that you were showing up just to see her but you couldn’t care less. You put on your favorite jeans with a tank top that makes your chest look irresistible. You wear your platforms docs and a leather jacket, even put on some make up. Is it too much for the grocery store? Perhaps, but you need to impress this woman. If not now, when?
You wanted to make Arancini, a delicious Sicilian appetizer that you loved eating back home in New York. Once again, you browse the aisles slowly, hoping to see Melissa, or Mel, like you were already calling her in your head. You were looking at the different types of rice, you bend down to pick up a packet of Arborio and as you reach for it, a raspy voice startles you.
“Making risotto, hon?” - the redhead says, as she looks up and down at your figure, maybe it was you being hopeful but it seemed as if she was checking you out.
“Arancini, actually’ - you say with a smile.
“Oh woman after my own heart” - she says as she gets closer to you.
“I have actually never made them, but they remind me of home and I want to try and make some similar to the ones I used to eat back in Brooklyn” - you shared with the redhead, suddenly realizing you might have overshared and she might not care at all about your nostalgia and homesickness.
“Lucky for you I have a really good recipe, I can share it with you” - Melissa gets closer to you and firmly grabs your arm “If you share it with anyone I’ll come find you”. - You freeze, not in fear but in want, shivers running through your body at the contact.
She lets go and there was again, that wicked smile, she winks at you and gestures for you to follow her.
“Oh, that would be amazing” - your eyes light up and she can see how happy her offer made you.
She helps you find all the ingredients you need for her recipe. Browsing around this small grocery store with this beautiful woman seemed like a dream to you. Her scent, her voice, her smile, the passion with which she talks about food. She explains step baby step what to do and how to do it, giving you tips and tricks in order to make the most delicious dish. You struggle to retain the information, too focused on the way her glossy lips move. It doesn’t go without notice but Melissa pretends she doesn’t realize it as she continues walking down the aisles and throwing things in your cart. After half an hour or so the shopping is done and your heart feels heavy. You are going to pay and go away and probably not see her in a while, even if it is another week, it sounds like too long for you.
“You are all set, hon” - she gives you a smile that makes the butterflies in your stomach flutter. “Here, give me your phone, I’ll give you my number in case you need any help with the recipe or to thank me when you have a food orgasm thanks to it”.
“Orgasm orgasm orgasm” - the only word sounding in your head, the way it fell of her mouth had your mind going places it shouldn’t.
“Hey, went on a trip there?” - Melissa snaps your fingers at you bringing you back to reality.
“Ah yes, my phone” - you said handing her the device and watching attentively as she puts her digits on your phone.
“Well, thank you, Ms. Schemmenti, I’ll make sure to let you know how they came out”
“I’ll be waiting, hon” - she says as she smiles at you and you stand there, frozen, blocking the line with your cart, the cashier complaining and telling you to move.
“Oh, yes, I better go, bye Melissa”
“Bye, gorgeous”
Gorgeous? She called you gorgeous. Your eyes widen and you quickly get back to your cart, you want to scream but you don’t want anyone to see you. She called you gorgeous? Whoa.
You get back home, ready to start on her recipe, looking at your phone, your head doing mental gymnastics, trying to figure out what excuse you could use to text her. You figure you should cook first, not be too intense, you just saw her 15 mins ago for fucks sake.
You follow step by step her directions, so scared of messing it up, as if she were to try them. You have never been happier to cook anything. You wonder how they would taste if she were to make them. You move quickly through all the steps, wanting to finish as soon as possible. One because you want to try this deliciousness and two, because you cant wait to text her.
You finish them and you gotta say you are quite proud of yourself, you don’t know how they taste yet, but they look really good. You wonder whether you should try them first and let her know, or whether you should send her a picture. You settle for a bolder idea, quite harmless if she doesn’t like you in that way, but kinda flirty if she does feel attracted to you.
You retouch your make up and push up your boobs, feeling a little slutty but thats the point, no?
You set your phone in front of you and your plate of arancini. Taking one of the balls in your hand, you said to the camera. “Well, I figured that after giving me your secret recipe, you at least deserved a live reaction.” You smile to the camera and bring the ball to your mouth, your teeth parting the crunchy exterior as its inside melted in your mouth. “Mmmmmhhhh”, you let out a low moan, as an expression of the pure joy and satisfaction that bite gave you. The delicious taste of the dish was really flooding your senses, your eyes rolling and mouth falling open, but you remember you are recording yourself for her and quickly regain your composure. “Well, I guess, you are going to be able to tell that was incredible. I am going to have to ask you for more recipes”. You stop recording and wonder if that was too much, hell your face while taking a bite of the food looks pornographic. A wave of courage takes over you and you press send, then you get hit by a wave of anxiety.
It has been ten minuted and Melissa has not replied. You pace around your house, slowly losing your mind, your body shaking.
A few seconds later, your phone lights up. The name Melissa Schemmenti popping on your screen.
“Oh my, sweetheart, if you make those faces every time you eat my food, I am going to have to invite you over for dinner.”
“Anytime, gorgeous” - You said as you throw your phone on the couch, you figure if she called you that, there is no harm in using it on her.
“I am going to fill you up so well”
Your eyes widen at her reply, oh it is on!
“Can’t wait, Schemmenti” - you type as you bite your lower lip and run around of pure excitement.
“My place, Saturday, at 7pm”
“Wouldn’t miss the chance to get a taste of your flavors.”
You send the last text and your face is red as a tomato, you can’t believe what you just said but you are so glad you did. Your mind is racing with thoughts about what is possibly going to happen this Saturday. How did everything escalate so quickly? Was everything on your mind? She was flirting right? RIGHT? You sigh and decide to try and distract yourself. Whatever it was, you will get to spend an evening with the redhead.

Are you jealous?
Tumblr media
Melissa schemmenti x fem!reader
Summary: Reader is shy and feels like Melissa is far to out of their league, but with enough nagging from Ava, and the presence of Gary, they finally tell Melissa how they feel.
Warnings: fluff, minor angst, jealous reader, comfort, Gary (for the plot only), my failed attempt at humour, Ava and readers are besties, Most of this was wrote at 3am, first time posting my fics on here, I’m trying my best.
*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*
“I think you should tell her” Ava suggested, “why, so she can laugh in my face and ruin the perfectly good relationship we have? Yeah, No thanks.” You joked slumping further into your chair.
When you had joined Abbott you had instantly fell in love with the people there, janine, although she could sometimes be annoying at times, you know she means well by it all. Jacob was like a brother to you, he was nerdy and sometimes ruined a joke or two, but for the most part he was caring. Gregory took some time to open to you, but when he finally did, he was surprisingly funny and good to be around. Barbara was one of the kindest people you had met in your life, you saw how she mothers the younger teachers, Janine mostly, and it was sweet and admittedly wholesome to be around.
Melissa was at first cold and icy toward you, which you later learned that was normal for her, but eventually she warmed up to you. After some time she started to bring in cannolis from your favourite bakery, more recently though she started to even bring in home cooked lunches for you. She was sweet and you admired her, but eventually you realised after a while, that you had developed a crush on her. You knew she wouldn’t like you like that though, You were quiet and awkward, while she was strong and confident, not to mention gorgeous, and so you figured a woman like her, a woman who deserves the best, wouldn’t settle for a person like you. But that was fine, if friendship was all you could have, you were fine with that but, a date or two would be nice though.
Ava was your best friend at Abbott and the only person that knew about your little crush on the second grade teacher. When you first met Ava she thought you were like Jacob or janine, more on the awkward side, but when she ran into you one night clubbing, she found that you weren’t at all like you were at school.
That was why you were currently sat in Ava’s office sulking in the chair across from her desk. “But what if she feels the same though? I mean, your hot, so I don’t see why she wouldn’t” Ava said putting her feet onto her desk. “How could Melissa Schemmenti like me?” You questioned. “Oh come on? What are you gonna wait till someone else swipes her up? Girl c’mon live a little, you can’t avoid her forever” Ava asked, her face now serious. “Cause have you seen that vending machine guy? he’s been makin’ moves on your lady” she continued. “He has?” You turned to her with wide eyes, normally you would be in the break room at lunch but since your realisation you’ve been staying in your classroom as of late, not that you don’t want to be near Melissa, but you thought that if you distanced yourself, your feelings would eventually go away.
“But what if she doesn’t feel the same?” You questioned, concern filling your face. “But what if she does though?” Ava countered, The bell rang as she finished. Letting out a sigh you finally agreed with Ava, “alright, we’ll I’ve got to go get my kids from the gym” You pushed yourself up from your chair and walked out of your friends office.
*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*·.·*
The next period ran over quicker than you thought it would. You were dreading going to lunch. You knew Melissa would never like you and yet after talking to Ava you somehow gained this false hope that if you asked Melissa out before Gary did, then maybe, you had a chance.
Finally, after many minutes of persuasion you went into the break room, you only saw Barbara at first, but then you saw…him. You had forgot Gary stocked the vending machine today, you saw the questioning look sent your way from Barbara, you walked straight over to the counter and grabbed your cup out of the cupboard and started to make a coffee, as you waited for the drink to finish you began overthinking everything, you knew you should have never thought you had a chance, it was obvious that Gary liked Melissa and of course she would like him back, he was good looking and he was sweet and thoughtful. Barbara had said it herself a while back, even she saw that they would be perfect together, and how could Barbara Howard be wrong?
The beep of the machine in front of you rang through your ears as you broke out of your thoughts. Grabbing the cup you tried to get out of the room as fast as you could. Opening the door you almost bumped into someone, it was Melissa.
“hey hon, slow down, your gonna trip over someone-” The second grade teacher hushed, “hon, are you alright?” She continued. The care in her voice sent a pang of pain to your heart, you didn’t want to avoid her anymore, but you knew it was for the best. “Yeah Mel, I’m fine” you rushed past her, practically running to your classroom.
You slammed the door behind you and slumped down in your chair. You threw your head back and let out the breath you didn’t know you were holding. Not long after, you heard a knock on your door and you groaned at having to talk to someone when you were on the verge of tears.
“Go away Ava” you murmured, with your eyes closed. You heard the door open and you began to speak again “Ava I’m not in the mood-” when you opened your eyes you had realised your mistake. “Oh- Um, hey Mel, sorry I thought you were Ava coming to talk about one of the student’s dad or whatever” you half laughed trying to seem alright in front of the redhead. Mel perched herself on the side of your desk, crossing her arms. “care to tell me why you haven’t been coming to lunch?” She questioned with a raised brow. “I- I’m just catching up on marking”
You weren’t necessarily lying when you said that. Most off your time was actually spent grading papers, while the rest was spent either sleeping or wallowing in your own self pity. “For two weeks straight?” She frowned at your petty excuse. “Tell me what’s wrong Hon, please” she pleaded with you, but you couldn’t look at her, “why do you care, shouldn’t you be with Gary” the words left your tongue like venom, the very Mention of the man made your fist clench and your heart ache. “Why would I be with Gary?” She questioned, confused at the relevance he had in all of this. “I don’t know, maybe because you always are.” You mumbled, jealousy taking over your words. “Oh c’mon that’s not true and you know it” She reasoned. “Oh please, every time he’s here, you only talk to him.” You retorted.
Melissa grew silent after that, as she re shifted her focus to your face. You felt you face flush beat red under her unrelenting gaze. After a while, her furrowed brow raised as a smirk grew on her face. Melissa stood from her seated position on the side of your desk and sauntered her way toward you. As she stopped in front of you, she lent down and grabbed both of the arms on the chair. With her arms trapping you and her legs either sides of your now closed knees, you were practically unable to move.
“Are you jealous, hun?” She asked, the humour in her voice evident. “I-uh…No, why would I be?” You stuttered out, knowing you did not seem convincing at all, as you looked down and away from the woman. You felt one of her hands grasp your chin in her hand and forced you to look her in the eyes, “I want your eyes on me, sweetheart” she practically growled, “now, are you jealous of Gary?” She asked again, her voice significantly lower than before. You contemplated on lying to her again, but as you stared into her piecing eyes, you felt you brain go foggy from her close proximity.
“Well, I- uh…maybe, yes” you mumbled as you stared at her with an anxious look, “I- I like you Melissa, like really like you” Melissa’s eyes softened, as she smiled. “That’s good to know” she chuckled. Suddenly you felt Melissa’s lips meet yours, you froze at the sudden action but melted in to her soft touch shortly after. You whined as she pulled away with a smirk. “I like you too by the way” she laughed again at seeing the adoring look on your features. “Wait but I thought you liked Gary?” You questioned. “Oh please, sure he’s nice, but you? Your amazing hun, I’ve practically liked you ever since you got here” Melissa smiled sweetly at you. “I’ve like you since you got here too” you grinned back at her.
“I was thinking, how bout this weekend you could come over to mine and we can have dinner?” She asked, sounding very small as she spoke. You smiled at her hoping to comfort her, “I would love to Mel." She rose to a standing position, she kissed the top of your head as she did so. “I’ll see you later, hun” You watched as she left and you smiled to yourself at the feeling of lips that still lingered on both the top of your head and your own lips. You spun in your chair at the thought of dinner with Melissa.
Once you turned to the direction of the door, you saw Ava’s head appear from around the doorframe. As she walked in to the room you the look she was giving you, “tell me everything” she gasped with shared excitement.

Butterfingers - ch.1
pairing: Melissa Schemmenti x Futch Mechanic!Reader
Tumblr media
a/n: HI FIRST MEL FIC AHFUDJ the worms…the voices…. anyways i don’t usually describe reader since i know that can take away from the experience but a tall buff himbo futch reader x a petite angry italian is just too good 😭 enjoy! i plan for there for be some possible smutty smut in the FARRRR future but this is first and foremost melissa learning how to love again!!-
“I didn’t know we had a new vending machine guy! Gregory, we have a new vending machine guy!” Janine looked to Gregory, who in turn nodded and looked up from his laptop.
“I noticed…uh- hi, by the way. That’s Janine, I’m Gregory.”
You looked to the two from your kneeling position by the old vending machine, matching names to faces before clearing your throat to introduce yourself in turn.
“Hi Gregory, Janine…my name I-“
“Who the HELL took my mug?!” A loud voice bellowed from across the room, the doorway now occupied by a stout looking redhead, and an angry one at that.
“…Which mug? Oh..” Gregory immediately blurted out, looking from his to the sink’s counter. “I thought- I figured this was a communal mug, was this- not a communal mug? I’m sorry, I- I’ll just go get a new mug for you Melissa-“
The fiery features of the redhead son softened, her brow knitting together in confusion. “Did ya not read the front? It says ‘Schemmenti’s the best teacher ever’ on the front, see?” The woman marched over to where Gregory stood, spinning the mug around with her one hand and pointing with the other.
“Right, okay. To be fair, I am not enough of a cryptologist to decipher 2nd grader writing. But now that you said it- I…I definitely see it, yeah.”
—————————————————
You stayed kneeled on the floor, Janine blocking your view slightly, and Gregory standing in the way of the redhead’s sightline. She hadn’t yet seen you, and you didn’t know whether to feel grateful or petrified…A mixture of both swirled in the pit of your stomach, growing heavier with each passing moment. Janine then turned to look at you, smiling sheepishly and sidestepping to walk towards the pair.
“Hey so Melissa- Uhm…you left the mug here yesterday, so I cleaned it for you and put it on the rack to dry. I’m sorry if that was what caused all this.” The woman, who’s name you now knew was Melissa, seemed dissatisfied with this explanation.
“Look hon, next time you don’t know, just ask?”
“Sure, yes, of course! You’re right. Sorry Melissa.” The young teacher bowed her head, nodding in agreement and proceeding to stand awkwardly next to Melissa for the next minute or so in silence.
—————————————————
After Gregory had settled back into his seat, the previously controversial mug now emptied into a default ‘employee lounge’ mug. You had continued your work quietly, not looking at the room much to avoid the palpable tension. As a couple more teachers filed in, a young twinkish teacher, and a teacher that seemed around Melissa’s age. She gave you a small smile, introducing herself as Barbara. In return, you told her your name, shaking her hand gently, before asking if she had any requests for the machine.
“Me? Oh, no.” She waved the question off with a dismissive hand,”However, if you want to make some friends, I’d ask the others.” She then gestured to the few that sat a few feet away.
“Gushers. Please.” Janine blurted, grinning. “The other guy used to bring in Gushers, but since Meliss-“ Gregory held up his hand, cutting off his coworker.
”Nah ah ah- not important. You want Gushers- she wants Gushers, please.” Janine nodded excitedly, and you smiled back.
“Uhh, Gushers? Sure! I can probably find something at the warehouse.”
“I got a guy that works at a candy store.” A voice piped up from the table to your right. You looked to see it was Melissa, fork in hand, what looked to be some leftover ‘rigatoni Calabrese’ in her Tupperware.
“Oh! It’s no worries. I remember seeing a few packages on the east wing by the back. I can bring them tomorrow, if I have time.” You reply, standing up to talk properly with the others. Melissa watched you carefully, seeming to hold your gaze with a challenge behind her own. For what, you weren’t sure…But you were feeling the heat from her, and it was making your palms sweat. It wasn’t about the fact that she was glaring you down— it was the way she was doing it that made you nervous. You weren’t a small girl by any means. You were nearly 6’2”, with enough workouts in you to put a bouncer to sleep. The problem was that you knew she didn’t like you.
Melissa glared with contempt. Behind her eyes, the gears were churning up something ugly.
You weren’t the guy she knew, why should she trust you? The last one went horribly wrong, why wouldn’t this one?
Regardless of your social standing with her, you took a few steps towards her, offering your best smile. “Well, do you want anything for the vending machine? I have no problem stocking it.”
You had been working there for a few days at this point, but most of your job consisted of doing maintenance on the vending machines in the cafeteria and halls. But after your employer noted an extra vending machine in a non-documented area, you did some digging and found that the previous technician noted an extra vending machine in the employee lounge…thus— here you were.
Melissa replied by shooting you a pointed look. “No. I’m fine.” After a long pause, she tacked on a little ‘thanks, though’ at the end. You nodded, taking your queue to head back to the machine. As you finished loading the already available inventory, the teachers all began to head back to their classrooms.
—————————————————
When you got up, you expected to see the room empty. You were wrong— Melissa stood behind you, her controversial mug in hand, and an unreadable look on her face. You cracked a little smile, clearing the hair from your face and setting down the empty box you were about to leave with.
“You got Butterfingers?” She asked, raising a brow.
“Oh- I don’t- I’m sorry! Did I drop something?” You looked around the floor, trying to think if you recall dropping any inventory while you were stocking.
“No! I meant the candy, hon.” She sighed, pinching her brow and shaking her head slightly. You felt your face go red with embarrassment at the misunderstanding. She seemed to be amused, but you felt stupid.
“That- that makes a lot more sense. I have Butterfingers, yeah! Would you like me to stock some..?” She thought for a moment, and shook her head.
“It’s— kind of a guilty pleasure. You think ya got any more discreet ways to slip me one or two every now and then?”
You looked to the machine, then back to Melissa, before nodding. “I can do that…no problemo!” You gave her a little thumbs up, picking up your empty box, before heading for the door.
She followed after you, giving you a small smile and nodding. “Maybe you ain’t so bad. Thanks, hon…my name’s Melissa, by the way.” She held the door with her foot, looking up at you when she spoke.
You looked over to her, chuckling lightly. “Pleasure to meet you, Melissa. I’m y/n. I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?” Before you headed down the hall, you looked to her coat. It was a nice leather jacket that you felt matched her tough exterior. “I like your jacket, by the way. It suits you.”
“Yeah? Thanks.” She offered, but the appreciation seemed rehearsed. Something in her eyes faltered, before she turned on her heel and quickly left in the direction of what you presumed to be her classroom.
Melissa Schemmenti was an enigma to you. But you would figure her out eventually. It couldn’t hurt…could it?

The way I act up on purpose so that they can put me in my place, which is on my knees in front of them. I want to be teased and broken down and brat tamed. They’ll kiss me through my whimpers just to make me more of an incoherent mess . They don’t care how ridiculous I sound, it only makes them want to keep going.
“Stop running, princess. This is what you wanted right? You can take it. Don’t keep crying like that. You know it only turns me on more.”

ok im gonna go hide now..
Taking care of
I love this request! I’m not comfortable writing smut, so I won’t be writing that part, I’m sorry. Just leave the last part to your imaginations 😭 I hope you like it anyway and thank you for requesting!
-
You placed the flowers you had bought for your favourite redhead in a vase. White tulips. You set them on the middle of the dining table, then starting to make dinner, gnocchi. Once again Melissa’s favourite. She had thought you how to made some of her famous Italian dishes. Following her family recipe you had saved in your notes app to make the dish. You noticed your girlfriend was quite stressed lately, ever since she had to teach two grades, she would come home extremely stressed and exhausted from her day at work. But the oh-so good girlfriend you are, will always be there for her to comfort her and help her relax.
By the time you had finished dinner you had placed it in the oven to keep it warm until the redhead will be coming home. You made sure to light up some scented candles, switch the big lights off and turn on some slow romantic music.
“Baby?” Melissa shouted after banging the front door close. You could hear her bag drop on the floor. “I’m upstairs!” Stroking your hands down your sides you looked at the dress through the mirror. A hum of approval came from the teacher as she peaked her head through the opening of the doorway. “Looks good on ya.” You smiled. “There you are, honey.” You wrapped her arms around her neck, pulling her close. Her arms found its way around your waist, kissing the side of your face. “I missed you.” She murmured against your neck.
“Come with me.” You pulled away to grab her hand, leading her downstairs. You made her sit down at the table.
“I called your mom to get the recipe. I know you’ve thought me how to make it but I kind of forgot.” You giggled, placing the redhead’s favourite dish in front of her.
“This is so thoughtful and sweet, honey.” Melissa grabbed your hand from across the table, she kissed your knuckles. “And you got me my favourite flowers.” Another kiss was placed on your hand.
“I hope it’s good, I don’t want you to break up with me for making the sauce wrong.” You joked, Melissa’s gaze softened.
“Of course not.” She was in a sweet mood, you cooking her favourite dish and getting her flowers clearly did something to her. “Well, I’m not sure nonna is going to let you marry me actually.”
“Oh, hush now, eat.” You popped open a bottle of red wine, pouring two glasses. “Barolo.” You took a sip, humming at the taste. You had bought the bottle of wine on your vacation in Italy, saving it for a special occasion to open the bottle. “And? Would Nonna approve?” Melissa chuckled, her mouth stuffed.
“I think she would, you nailed that.” Proud of yourself you take a bite, nodding in approval.
After dinner Melissa insisted to do the dishes, her filling the dishwasher while you cleaned the rest of the kitchen. “I made dessert for us too, but we can eat that later tonight, I’m full.” The redhead pinned you against the kitchen counter. “Me too.” Her voice was raspy, one hand resting on the side of your face her other hand leaning on the counter, keeping you trapped. Her hand moved in your hair, brushing it through her fingers. Your eyes lingered down to her lips. Closing the gap between you, the teacher kissing you. You caressed her curves.
“I missed the taste of your lips.” You murmured against her lips, kissing her again.
Then Melissa pulled away, to sit down again. “Hey! Get back here.” You whined. A chuckle was heard from your girlfriend. You followed the other woman, taking a seat on her lap. “I’m so lucky to have you, you’re so good to me, honey.” She placed her hands on your thighs kissing you. The kiss was heated and became sloppy.
“No, I’m so lucky to have you!” You pulled away to push your pointer finger against her chest, the redhead giggling. “Just let me make you feel good.” You whispered in her ear, then biting it slightly. Melissa had to drawn back a groan. You got up from her lap and went to stand behind her. Your hands placed on her shoulders, you glide your hands over her breast down to her waist. Melissa placed her hands over your guiding them over her body. Your head was next to hers, kissing her neck.
“You have no idea what you are doing to me.” She rasped out, leaning back into your touch. “What am I doing to you?” You walked around her, taking a seat on her lap again, Melissa’s hands immediately grasping your butt. “You are driving me wild.” She went to kiss you again.
“Have me just like this.”

Hot Stuff
Tumblr media
...
"Hey, Y/N, where do you know this insolent bitch from?" jealousy is evident in Melissa's voice as she approaches her girlfriend on the sidewalk, steps wide and firm show indignation at what she had just witnessed.
"Meh, I don't know anywhere, I've never seen her before in my life." the younger puts one hand on the waist and raises the other to call for a cab a few feet away. Trying to look indifferent, she is still angry with the teacher.
"Then why the hell did she call you a hot stuff?" she stands in front of her, arms crossed, green eyes blazing.
"Because I'm hot, Melissa."

Finding My Peace with You
Cooking lesson doesn’t go as planned
Pairing: Melissa Schemmenti x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Panic Attack, Alcohol Abuse, Past Abusive Relationship (lemme know if I missed anything)
Genre: Fluff/Angst/Fluff
Word Count: 1700+
A/N: felt angsty today, sorry not sorry.
Tumblr media
Falling for Melissa Schemmenti was easy.
She was the first teacher to approach you when you started working at Abbott Elementary a few months ago. You were the new history teacher, now sharing your duties with Jacob, and you still felt a little out of place. It started with casual conversations during lunch, soon after which the redhead invited you to sit with her and Barbara at their usual table of the breakroom.
Not so long after that, much to Janine’s despair, Melissa invited you to join the two older teachers in one of their favourite restaurants instead of having the lunch at school. With time, the two of you started walking each other to your corresponding classrooms, taking turns on who was walking who every day. And as the weeks passed the two of you grew closer to each other. You loved Melissa’s company, she made you feel comfortable around the other teachers and always made sure you were included, for which you were eternally thankful. This school routine quickly progressed into the two of you hanging out outside of the work hours, movie nights at either of your places were at least a weekly occurrence.
You couldn’t help falling for her, deeper and deeper with every exchanged word, with every look. You adored the soft side of her, the one she doesn’t show to many people. But she allowed you in and you knew that under this badass shell there is a big softie. You loved the way she was with her students, the way she cared about every single one of them and would go above and beyond to ensure the best quality of their education.
And Melissa couldn’t help falling for you either. She had a particularly soft spot for you, always saving you a seat at the weekly assembly that you would inevitably be late to. Each time she cooked she would make some extra, just to save it and bring it for you the next day.
One particular evening she finally gathered the courage to ask you out on a date, a real one this time. Not just a movie night ending in a sleepover. She took you to one of her favourite Thai restaurants, the woman always said that no Italian restaurant in the area would come anywhere close to her cooking, so she opted to stay away from them. And you, of course, didn’t protest. The evening was perfect, almost as perfect as her, the two of you chatted for hours, about everything and anything. Shortly after you made the relationship official between the two of you, still wanting to keep it somewhat private, away from the school gossip.
***
As the cold winter day started reaching its end, filling Philadelphia with darkness, you and Melissa prepared to make dinner together in the redheads sacred kitchen. You have been dating for a few months now and most of your evenings were spent together.
It didn’t take long for your girlfriend to realise just how bad of a cook you were, and it seemed that she has taken it upon herself to teach you the “Italian secrets” of cooking passed down in her family from generation to generation. Tonight, Melissa was teaching you how to make her signature lasagne. She would always emphasise that the secret to a good lasagne was a homemade pasta, which you couldn’t argue with, after all her lasagne was the best one you’ve ever had.
You watched older woman expertly chop garlic, explaining to you the secrets behind the technique and you couldn’t help it but feel a sense of awe. You have always been intimidated by cooking, but you adored the way Melissa made it seem so effortless and all the patience she had for you.
She of course noticed your hesitation when it was your turn to chop a few cloves, she smiled at you warmly as she gently guided your hands “Don't worry, cara," she said "Cooking is all about love and passion. You just need to feel it in your heart."
“But what if I don’t” you chuckled as you turned your head towards Melissa.
“You will sweetheart, trust me on this one” she replied as she placed a gentle kiss on your cheek. “Here, keep going and I’ll just pour myself some wine.”
Your body tensed up as the last words left her mouth, your chest tightening as the anxiety slowly started creeping in.
Deep down you knew that you were safe around your girlfriend, that she would never hurt you. But you couldn’t help the overwhelming fear that had you in a spiral at every brief mention of alcohol, because you knew all too well what it makes people capable of.
You never told Melissa about your past experiences, the hell one of your ex’s put you through. It didn’t seem important and you didn’t want to let it have any more control over you. Despite it being over 3 years, the wounds you were left with did not heal yet, the scars being constantly picked at by everyday conversations you’ve had with your friends.
You tried your best to keep it in you, continuing to chop the garlic with your shaking hands.
“Would you like some too?” Melissa said cheerfully as she started pouring the red liquid into a very fancy looking wine glass.
“Hm… no I’m okay” you replied with a slightly shaking voice “um Mel, I think I’m gonna go get some fresh air” you whispered as you dropped the knife onto the chopping board and sped out of the room. You felt your eyes fill with water as you opened the back door and stepped into the backyard. Despite the cold winter air hitting your body it was increasingly harder to breathe.
Melissa knew something was wrong as soon as she heard your reply, but you were out of her sight before she could ask what was wrong.
The second you were outside you couldn’t keep your tears in any longer, letting them fall down your cheeks as you tried to catch your breath. You stood by the wall, trying to keep yourself standing as your head became dizzy from the lack of oxygen.
This is when you felt Melissa’s gentle hands wrap around your waist trying to hold you up right. You frowned at the initial contact, but the softness of her touch allowed you to begin to relax in her embrace. She pulled you towards her, strong yet gentle arms providing you with the comfort you needed in the moment. You wrapped your arms around her tightly as you buried your face in the crook of her neck.
“I’m sorry” you whispered as your embrace around the woman tightened.
“Shh it’s okay baby, there is nothing to apologise for” her gentle voice sounded through the silence of the evening “I’ve got you y/n/n, you’re safe” at those words you let out a quiet sob, you tried to take a few deep breaths to calm yourself down.
The two of you stayed like that for a few more minutes, neither of you wanting to let the other one out of the safety of this moment. You decided to head back into the house when you felt Melissa shivering, not wanting to be the reason your girlfriend gets a cold. You sat down on the couch as Melissa handed you a glass of water, before joining you and pulling you into the security of her body she knew you needed.
“Would you like to talk about that?” she asked, gently stroking your hair as you lied on her chest. You took a few deep breaths before gathering the courage to answer her.
“I don’t know what happened” you murmured, looking up at her, into her big, green eyes. “Usually, I know how to manage it, just when you mentioned the wine today a lot of bad memories came back flooding my brain and I couldn’t escape them”
You proceeded to tell Melissa everything, detailing all the memories that were brought back to you. The fear you felt every time alcohol was mentioned, the fear that had you unable to move as you were awaiting the inevitable, when you knew alcohol was involved. And what it left you with, or without.
“Oh darling, why didn’t you say anything before?” Melissa whispered back as she placed a gentle kiss on the top of your head and tightened her hold of you “I wouldn’t have done that if you said anything”
“I didn’t want to inconvenience you” you chocked out, tears freely falling from your eyes as you weren’t even attempting to stop them at that point.
“Honey, you never inconvenience me, especially not with something like this” she said as she smiled at you softly. You started to get calmer as Melissa’s hands held you close to her, your head resting on her chest. The sound of her heartbeat sounding in your ears, allowing your body to relax. You stayed like this for another hour or so, making some meaningless conversations as the redhead stroked your hair.
“I’m sorry Mel” you said softly after a few minutes of silence “I feel like I ruined our evening”
“y/n/n, you didn’t ruin anything” Melissa replies as she started to slowly lifting the two of you off of the couch “come on, we don’t need to have another cooking lesson today, I can finish everything off and you can be my cute sous chef”
“That’s a very nice upgrade from a spatula holder” you chuckled as you grabbed her hand and headed towards the kitchen. Right before you managed to grab your favourite kitchen utensil from the counter Melissa pulled you back into another hug.
“I love you y/n.” she whispered into your ear as your arms wrapped tightly around her “Thank you for sharing everything with me today, I can’t imagine how hard it must have been for you.” she added as she kissed your forehead. “You’re safe now and I promise I will never, ever hurt you.”
Falling for Melissa Schemmenti might have been easy, but loving Melissa Schemmenti was even easier.

Sicilian Scheming
Tumblr media
Melissa Schemmenti x reader
Genre: pure fluff
Word Count: 3.4k
Prompt: "I seen you were looking for ideas for fics and was wondering if you’d write one where Mellisa’s Nona comes to visit her at Abbot during summer planning where she meets teacher Reader and essentially forces them to go on a date together even though they don’t get along well but they end up really hitting it off then a time skip to their wedding where Nona’s bragging about getting them together?"
I've diverted from the prompt a little but the core of it still stands. Strap in.
--------------------
Make no mistake, you absolutely love teaching the third grade but by the time summer comes around, you’re glad to see them go. Summer vacation gives you a chance to relax and enjoy your time away from the stuffy brick building that is Abbott Elementary, spending weeks at a time curled up on the window ledge of your apartment basking in the sun with a good novel and often a crisp glass of wine.
You rarely get chance to see your co-workers save for the coffee dates you have with Janine, often meeting the smaller woman around the corner from her home to sit and chat in the large glass windows as the rest of the world passes by. You spend hours at a time chatting about anything and everything your rather uneventful lives have thrown at you, fingers curled around a sweating glass of flavored iced tea. These breaks are always among the highlights of your year, giving you a chance to wind down and refresh ready for the next group of kids that you will take under your wing.
By the time the summer break winds down though, you’re eager to get back to school and see your dysfunctional work family. There’s nothing you love more than the first day after weeks apart, hearing all about Barbra’s annual cruise with Gerald, or Jacob’s latest mission to get himself “down with the kids” - it usually involves some god awful Tik Tok trend that he should NOT be doing, but you don’t have the heart to stop his rather spirited approach to engaging with his students.
You love these conversations but there is somebody else that you find yourself searching for the second you step foot through the green doors of Abbott; Mellisa Schemmenti. The older woman has become an infatuation for you, her rigid exterior always melting when you interact. She knows exactly how you take your coffee, always leaves a seat open for you during meetings, and takes every opportunity to compliment your appearance - whether it's a new pair of earrings, or a slightly different shade of hair dye, Melissa will always notice.
She makes you feel special in the smallest ways, always leaving you with the hope that she might actually like you back. It feels juvenile and you can’t help but imagine yourself as one of the kids you teach every day, sending heart eyes across the room at each other at any given chance, just waiting for her cheeks to flush and that small, suppressed smile to appear on her glossed lips.
Your crush is no secret, but you would never tell anyone - well, except Janine who had managed to guess exactly why you get so nervous around the older woman after a few glasses of wine at the last faculty holiday party. You didn’t have to say anything; your longing looks toward the redhead on the other side of the teachers’ lounge as you nursed a plastic cup full of cheap alcohol was enough to prompt your friend to ask. You could never lie to Janine’s puppy dog eyes, especially not with a buzz courtesy of the liquor store across the street.
You can’t help but let your thoughts drift toward thick Philly accents as you sit in the gym on the first day of school, squashed between Jacob and Janine and caught directly in the middle of their conversation about whatever new Netflix documentary series dropped last week. You’re really trying to listen, but your thoughts are consumed by bright red curls and glittery lip gloss, not true crime documentaries.
You find yourself scanning the room as the pair babble on and you notice that the seating arrangement is half empty as you wait for the rest of the faculty to arrive and for Ava to take the stage for yet another development week speech that will go down in infamy at Abbott. She’s already poked her head from behind the curtain on the stage twice, clearly impatient to make her grand entrance to a group of less than willing participants.
You begin to hear the telltale sound of heeled boots clicking against the linoleum floor and you feel yourself freezing into place just as Melissa waltzes into the hall, Barbara in tow. You don’t know if you’re impressed or terrified at her ability to constantly wear those shoes and the thought makes you realize that you’ve never actually seen Melissa at her normal height.
Just as you suck in a deep breath, her eyes scan the room and instantly land where you sit, sandwiched between two of your rather enthusiastic co-workers. As her green eyes meet yours you see them shrink at the smile she sends your way, her pearly white teeth cutting through the shiny pink lip gloss she’s always wearing. You send a similar smile back, overjoyed at the fact she merely noticed you. God help your heart rate when she decides to talk to you for the first time in two months.
Your attention is pulled away by Barbara, who waves enthusiastically from behind Melissa, making her way toward the empty seats directly in front of you. Your eyes dart back to Melissa as she follows the billowing of the older woman’s cardigan, heels still impossibly loud against the floor.
The dark button down she’s sporting is tight against her torso, the sleeves rolled up to reveal her deceptively toned forearms. You have to remind yourself to look away for a split second, the thought of getting caught ogling her by one of your co-workers forcing you to tear your eyes away. You look toward Janine who has trailed off her conversation with Jacob, the pair watching you and Melissa like a tennis match. You feel your shoulders slump at Jacob’s knowing look, the excitement practically making him vibrate.
“You’re kidding, you know too?” You sigh.
“Uh yeah, you don’t exactly hide the heart eyes,” he scoffs. He must see the deer-in-headlights expression on your face because he continues, “I wouldn’t worry, she was definitely just throwing them right back at you.”
You have no time to reply as the subject of the conversation reaches the row of seats in front of you, sitting in the hard plastic chair and turning her torso to see you, hand resting on the back of her seat. Her smile is wide again as she looks to you. The panic brews in your throat and your palms instantly become sweaty at the prospect of Melissa feeling the intensity of your feelings.
“Hey hun, it’s been a while,” she says, her eyes still crinkled from the smile she wears. Her focus is entirely on you, ignoring the duo that sits on either of your sides.
“Yeah, it has,” you manage to stammer out, “How’ve you been? You look good.”
You inwardly cringe at your words but you’re not lying. She’s obviously had her hair dyed ready for the new school year and it’s even brighter than usual, making her even easier for you to pick out of a crowd. She looks so full of life and at ease, the break clearly having done her well. Her smile grows impossibly wider at your compliment, putting you instantly at ease.
“It was great,” she replies. “Spent a lotta time at the beach with my family, so I’m not as pasty as you may have remembered.”
She throws a wink your way with the last statement, causing a pink blush to cover your cheeks within seconds. What you wouldn’t give to actually see Melissa at the beach, totally relaxed on a sun lounger with a drink in hand. The image turns your cheeks an even deeper shade of red and Mel clearly catches on, her smirk letting you know that she knows exactly where your thoughts have gone.
Before you even have chance to reply, Ava makes her grand entrance from behind the curtain to a chorus of groans that echos throughout the room.
You can feel Janine’s elbow nudging into your side, your friend having had a front row seat to your entire interaction with the redhead. The action earns her a swift kick to the ankle under her seat, accompanied by a hissed “don’t you dare”.
The meeting is over almost as quickly as it begins, Ava rushing back to her office to catch the latest episode of Real Housewives - she didn’t explicitly say it but you all know that’s the only reason she would be running back down the hall. You won’t complain though because it means you can get started with your work to prepare your classroom for the year ahead. You stand from your seat alongside Jacob and Janine and have all intentions of getting back to work when Melissa turns around again. Her emerald eyes stop you in your tracks, mid-stretch, your arms flexed above your head.
“I never got the chance to tell you earlier, but I really like your dress,” she says, completely catching you off guard. Your hands fall, hanging limply by your side and brushing against the floral fabric of your clothing. You’d be lying if you said you didn’t wear it specifically to catch her eye this morning. The soft smile she wears on her face makes your heart melt, the look on her face only reserved for you. “It's real pretty.”
You both stand there for a few seconds, blushing like lovesick teenagers and staring into each other's eyes when a throat clearing brings you back to reality. Janine claps her hands together, flustered by the interaction.
“Okay, I’m gonna get back to my classroom and, uh, get started on cleaning. Have a good day guys!” She calls as she walks away with Jacob in tow, enthusiastic as ever as he throws a thumbs up your way. You know that within five minutes of leaving the school gym she’ll be in your classroom waiting for the rundown on what the hell just happened between you and Melissa, as if she didn’t see it all happen from inches away. At this rate, you wouldn’t be surprised if Jacob shows up with a bag of popcorn to join in with the gossip session.
“Oh shit, yeah, I need to clean before Nonna shows up,” Melissa mumbles, “I don’t wanna even think about the earful I’ll get if my classroom is a mess.” She doesn’t even stop to think before she turns on her heel and practically runs out of the gym and down the hall toward her classroom. You don’t have time to process her words before her best friend speaks.
“Well, I guess that just leaves us,” Barbara says from her place next to where the redhead stood. She wears a gentle smile on her face that will always help you feel at ease. She reaches her arm out to you, linking your arm within hers as she turns to walk. “Come on honey, I’ll walk you to your room and tell you all about the cruise I had with my Gerald.”
After a rather lengthy conversation about ‘Sea Barbara’ and her less-than-christian antics, you’re back at your door for the first time in months and can’t help but feel like you’re home. Nobody particularly likes their job but that couldn’t be further from the truth for you. Already, you’ve planned out the next year and can’t wait to welcome your little Eagles back into the classroom.
It’s a full hour later by the time you actually hear another person’s voice - Janine chose to keep her distance but will no doubt grill you about Melissa at some point today. It’s just a matter of when.
You hear the signature clicking of her heels before you can see her, her footsteps considerably slower than usual. You can hear her talking as she walks, though you can’t make you exactly what she’s saying. The footsteps grow louder and slower before you hear a knock against your doorframe, the door propped open by a thick stack of textbooks that you’ve wedged in front of it in a desperate attempt to get some airflow in the stuffy room.
The sound makes you whip your head from where you stand on your stepladder, stapler and crepe paper in hand as you put together a display for the kids. You know exactly who will be standing there, already smiling as you turn and meet her eyes.
“Hey Hun,” she says, “I’ve got someone here who wanted to really meet you.”
For the first time you notice the presence beside her. You don’t need to take any guesses that this is Melissa’s infamous Nonna, the older woman clearly having stamped her grandchildren with her genes - she looks exactly how you imagine Melissa would in her old age, her hair silver and leaning gently on a cane.
“Melissa Ann Caterina Schemmenti!” she exclaims, making you jump and stand up straighter, terrified at the prospect of already being on her bad side. You climb down from the ladder as she stares at you, smoothing your hands down the front of your dress in an effort to get rid of any creases that may have formed during the morning. “You said she was pretty, but not this pretty!”
You feel your shoulders relax as you laugh at the older woman, taken aback, Melissa by the side of her groaning loudly with a “Nonna, really?” You move toward the pair holding your hand out to shake the wrinkled one of the grey-haired lady before you. Her fingers are adorned by the same kind of jewelry that Melissa wears, her Sicilian heritage extremely clear from the large signet rings that she wears across her hands.
“And there’s no mistaking that you must be Nonna,” you grin, introducing yourself. “I’ve heard a lot about you. You’re like a living legend around here.” She closes her hand around yours, the other still gripping her cane.
“Pretty and complimentary?” She remarks, turning to look at her granddaughter whose face has managed to turn the same colour as her hair. “Well, you kept a lot quiet about this one.”
You can’t help but look at Melissa at this statement, catching her eye and smiling even wider, Nonna’s remarks already making your grin impossibly wide. Her brow relaxes itself slightly, the hard lines around her eyes softening when she sees the pure joy on your face at finally getting to meet the woman you’ve heard so much about over the last few years.
“I’m not sure if I want to hear exactly what you know about me,” you joke to her, catching Melissa’s eye yet again. The poor woman looks unbelievably flustered but it's a welcome change in your dynamic. She usually gets to revel in the fact that you turn into a puddle in her presence, but now you can only hope to add to the quickly darkening hue of her cheeks.
“Trust me, you do. This one doesn’t shut up about you,” she says, smiling slightly and cocking her head toward Melissa who is actively wishing that a sinkhole would open up beneath her feet. She lets go of your hand and moves further into the classroom, leaning ever so slightly on her stick but still moving with all the confidence of your favourite Schemmenti woman - at least you know where Melissa gets it from now.
Your eyes dart to Melissa, the older woman already looking back at you with a silent apology in her eyes her teeth worrying her bottom lip. You reach out and rub the top of her arm over her shirt in a small act of comfort, letting her know that this entire situation is doing nothing but working in her favour.
“Ya know, it’s nice seeing something other than my Melissa’s classroom or the reception desk at this school for once,” Nonna says, almost speaking to herself. She looks around the room almost in awe, taking in the displays in various degrees of completion around the room.
You follow her further in, Melissa hot on your tail behind you. She’s so close that you feel her almost walk straight into your back as you stop closer to the older woman, her once intimidating heels stuttering slightly on the wooden floor.
“So, tell me,” Nonna begins, turning in place to face you, “What brought a girl like you to Philly? I know you’re not a local.” Her eyes twinkle as she asks, and you have a sneaking suspicion that she already knows the answer to her question from the tales her granddaughter has seemingly told her about you.
“I just wanted a change,” you answer honestly. “I only thought I’d be here a couple years, but it’s been five and I can’t see myself leaving any time soon.”
At your statement you hear Melissa sigh by your side. As your head turns to meet her gaze you see just how much it softened at your words. She knows just how much you love your job and the dedication you’re willing to put into making sure these kids make it. Year after year she’s been the one to help you draft lesson plans and mark countless piles of work over a mug of coffee in the teachers’ lounge, helping you when you feel slightly out of your depth in more ways than she could imagine.
It’s only when she’s this close to your face that you can see the glittering of her lip gloss as she smiles slightly, her lips pulled together in a look that conveys so much softness.
“Do you like Italian food?” Nonna asks, breaking the tense silence that has fallen between you. You feel the redhead beside you jump, both of you completely forgetting that her grandmother is just meters away from your little moment. You can’t answer quick enough, crying out for her approval and hoping that you can focus back from the incredible green eyes that are currently burning into the side of your head.
“Oh yeah, I absolutely love an Italian,” you stutter out, “Can’t get enough.”
You inwardly cringe at your words as you hear Melissa snicker by your side, Nonna’s eyes twinkling with amusement again. You hear a quiet “Bedda Matri” from Melissa through the giggles that shake her body.
“I bet ya do,” Nonna says, her grin revealing her impossibly pearly white teeth. You can feel yourself getting warmer and you’re not sure if it’s from the stuffiness of your classroom and its broken windows or from the pure embarrassment radiating through your system. “You know, I taught Melissa everything she knows about Italian food. Maybe if you’re nice she’ll cook for you sometime.”
Nonna’s eyebrows are raised as you turn to meet Melissa’s eyes, the older woman shrugging in your direction. It's nice to know you aren’t the only person completely lost in this conversation.
“Oh, I know!” Nonna exclaims, making the pair of you jump yet again, “Melissa, how about you cook this nice girl the family baked ziti tonight? Say, 7 o’clock?”
“Uh sure, if you don’t have anything on?” Melissa says, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion once again.
“No no, I’m totally free,” you stammer, your cheeks matching the deep red of your co-worker's hair. “I’ve got your address too.”
“Wonderful!” Nonna almost shouts, her shrill voice echoing off the semi-bare walls of your classroom. “You’re going to love it, trust me.” She says, throwing a wink your way.
You don’t particularly want to admit that the smaller woman is, but you do love it. So much so that two years later you’re twirling around a dance floor in a lacy white dress, Melissa in a matching getup and shiny new diamond rings on your left hands. As Billy Joel croons the chorus of ‘Just the Way You Are’ from the speakers set up around the room, you hear a familiar voice chirp up from a table just out of reach of the dance floor.
“You know, they would never have gotten together if I hadn’t practically knocked their heads together,” Nonna says, her voice carrying over the song as she explains her matchmaking services to Melissa’s Uncle Tony. You feel Melissa grin where her cheek rests against yours, your expression matching hers as you hear the older woman carry on. “I’m telling you now Anthony, this wedding wouldn’t even be happening if it wasn’t for me.”
You feel Melissa begin to giggle where she stands, her hands resting against the lace at the small of your back, thumbs rubbing gently against the surface as you sway together. You hear Nonna carry on, adamant that the life you’ve built wouldn’t be possible if not for her, and as much as you don’t want to give her satisfaction, you both know she’s right.

“Don’t call me kid… but please call me baby”
Summary: You and Melissa meet during one of your routine visits to Abbott, she is weary about you at first but you quickly become closer. Thoughts of each other clouds both of your minds.
Word Count: 6.8k
Warnings: Drinking, drug use, jealousy, smut, inexperienced Mel.
Note: I wrote this one one yesterday while relaxing during the holiday (aka not sober). I made it longer because i was feeling extra nice. It is not proofread at all, please keep that in mind.
Tumblr media
Melissa and you met each other about a year ago when you came visit Abbott as part of an inspection being conducted by the district. At first she wasn’t very fond of you, she saw you as one of those sell out that only care about their pockets and not about the well being of the students or about providing them with tools to improve their learning process. After a few arguments, she finally figured out that you weren’t just some shallow young thing as she was expecting, she also started noticing how much you care about doing what is best for the school system, but also took notice of how beautiful you were, and most importantly, how you truly had a heart of gold.
You also became fond of the woman, fonder than you would expected or wanted. After that first visit when you met the beautiful redhead, you continued to come back to the elementary school every month. Always with the excuse that you wanted to keep track of how things were going and if either of the teachers or the students were in need of any type of assistance. There was some truth to it, though, you genuinely believed that these children and the people guiding them through life needed the support of someone who truly cared. But if you were honest with yourself, a big part of why you came in yourself instead of sending someone else was Melissa. You hadn’t been able to stop thinking about her since that first day you met her and she wouldn’t give you the time of day, going off about how she doesn’t talk to your kind of people and how much she hated that you were sticking your nose in her business. You were not able to forget the passion in which she spoke about her children, like a momma lion taking care of her cubs. You liked seeing the fire in her eyes and the tough exterior that for sure had to cover the softest heart. Her figure didn’t go unnoticed by you either. Her perfect curves, her cleavage, her shiny voluminous red hair, her long nails and her plump lips. You couldn’t forget the bright smile you saw on her face as you secretly watched her interact with her students. So you kept coming back. Every month you felt Melissa warming up to you more and more. The first few months she would try and ignore or make snarky comments at your expense. Then she started making conversation with you, looking for you the days you were at Abbott, inviting you to eat at the teachers lounge, showing you the small upgrades she made in her classroom. You always humored her and she enjoyed that.
Soon enough she started opening up to you, asking you to hang out outside of a professional setting, which according to everyone that knew her was very uncharacteristic of her. This only made you feel more special.
You remember the first time she invited you to hang out outside of work. You had come to Abbott for your monthly meeting and she saw you eating take out from some wanna be italian restaurant and this really upset her. You thought it was cute. “Toss that trash y/n” she said making a disgusted face as she sat across from you in the lounge. “Since I don’t completely hate you anymore, how about you come Saturday for lunch? Eat some authentic italian food, not that olive garden like crap” - she said trying to come off non-chalant but you could see the smile creeping up her face.
So you went that Saturday, and many weekends after that. Soon you became Melissa’s friend, the person she called to run errands, the person she would save leftovers for, the person she’d call after a shitty day to talk to over a bottle of wine and some pistachio gelato. Melissa became the center of your life, and if you were being honest, you were also pretty special to her. Now you even got to come along to game night with the Abbott family, you were ‘’Melissa’s girl” and everyone welcomed you with open arms. You successfully managed to keep the work talk separated from socializing with them, and it worked quite nicely. You loved them and you love seeing how Melissa was around them. You loved to observe her in her essence.
You loved it, it made you feel special. The only downside was that your feelings for her continued to grow. It started going beyond surface level, beyond her being beautiful and passionate. You started noticing the small things about her, even her flaws and you cherished every single one of them. She was with Gary now, though, so you kept quiet and kept coming around. You wouldn’t jeopardize the chance to be around her over some stupid feelings over a woman that wasn’t even gay, a woman that had a boyfriend, even if he didn’t deserve her. He didn’t get her like you did. You felt like some cliché, the lesbian version of “you belong with me” by Taylor Swift. But it was true, she was a goddess and he was just an idiot. He didn’t care to know her, to know what made her the happiest or what upset her the most, he didn’t care to learn about her scars and how was her childhood. To him, she was just some hot woman he somewhat managed to get thanks to some kind of cosmic miracle. You wondered what she got out of it, you often wondered if maybe they had a wild sex life that made up for his lack of substance. The thought of it always made you sad and often led you to some nights of drinking and getting high just to forget her. Forget she wasn’t yours. Forget someone else was touching her.
You entertained her talks about him, but if you were being honest, she didn’t talk about him all that much, which you were thankful for. You wondered if she knew you had feelings for her and thats why she chose to keep quiet about him. But regardless she never pushed you away, so you continue to enjoy your time with her. She continued to be attentive with you, she continued to cook for you and help you out in everything you needed. She was even physically affectionate with you, which was always surprising to you but you chose to not question it.
However, people around you were definitely raising some eyebrows.
It was game night with the Abbott Crew and you were quite invested in a board game of Snakes and Stairs with Jacob, Gregory and Barbara while Melissa was preparing some food. She approached the table with a plate full of pigs in a blanket Janine had brought. Everyone grabbed some and continued to play, but you were so invested you ignored the food, mainly because you hated to get your fingers greasy when you were doing something else. Melissa knew this, so she sat next to you and fed them to you while you continued playing. Whoever saw you would have thought you were a married couple. She was sat in the arm of your chair, closely watching as you took a bite of each piece, humming satisfied.
Barbara tried to not react, just widening her eyes at the sight, while Ava said what everyone was thinking “So does Gary know you got a little girlfriend Schemmenti?
“AVA!” - Janine says and quickly tries to defend your honor for some reason.
“What? I am sure he’d like it, damn I AM TURNED ON” - she let out a laugh loud and left the room to get a drink.
“We are just friends, you all are just jealous Melissa likes me the best” - you said shooting a redhead a smile
“Yeah, y’all need to mind ya business and stop being weird” - she abruptly left the room and everyone understood that they had hit a nerve.
Her reaction left you confused, why did she take it like that? Sure, her friend’s joke was of bad taste but it is Ava, and Ava is always saying things that are inappropriate. Was there some truth to it? Did she like you in any way? After a few minutes you excused yourself and went to find her in the kitchen, she was standing by the sink furiously washing some dishes while quickly downing a glass of Merlot.
“Damn Schemmenti, am i that bad?” - you said jokingly and your voice startles her, you can tell she must have been deep in thought.
She turns around and gives you a soft smile, but the anger quickly comes back to her face “I am just not a cheater! and you are my friend and why would they make it weird?”
“You are not a cheater, Mel, and we sure are friends, I mean who could think I would be able to get such a smokeshow?” - you joke and she leaves out a chuckle. The you walk slowly closer to her and pull her into a hug, she is so tense at first but she relaxes into your embrace.
“You could get anyone, and that person would be lucky to have you” - she says and you freeze, a deep heavy feeling settling in your chest, you don’t know what to say since you clearly cant confess that the person you want is her. You know that tonight you will probably will cry yourself to sleep.
“Thanks, Schemmenti, I better get back to the game, Jacob can’t beat me this time”
“Get them, kid”
“Don’t call me kid” - you respond in your head.
That night you go back home and down a bottle of Carbernet, while shouting the lyrics of “Illicit Affairs”
You weren’t necessarily a swifty, but damn, the woman sure did know how to portrait heartbreak.
You take a big gulp and in tears keep screaming.
Don't call me "kid"
Don't call me "baby"
Look at this godforsaken mess that you made me
You showed me colors
You know I can't see with anyone else
Don't call me "kid"
Don't call me "baby"
Look at this idiotic fool that you made me
You taught me a secret language
I can't speak with anyone else
You felt as if you were choking on your pain, so pathetic. You felt so small, like why would she ever see you like that? You were friends. Maybe she just saw you as someone younger that needed to be taken care of. But that wouldn’t make sense, you were practically her boss, you had a career and were doing good for yourself, you didnt need her to take care of you. You just needed her. You lay down in your bed and try to go to sleep. Your fuzzy thoughts are filled with her, her scent, the warmth of her skin, her beautiful smile. The thought of how her lips might feel cross your head, getting you all choked up, you just cry yourself to sleep.
The next morning you wake up and your first thought it is her, as per usual but you try to brush it off, you spend all morning in meetings, trying your best to fight your urge to text her. Finally you give in and send her a quick message wishing her to have a good day! It was very gay of you, but you did this most morning and she always enthusiastically replied. This time you got nothing back, you tried your best to not overthink it but something was definitely off.
You resisted the urge to double text her, that is until friday night. It had been three days since she last had any type of contact with you, which had never happened during the time you had been friends. You decide to continue to leave her alone but you definitely need some distraction to not go absolutely crazy thinking about her. You go out to a club in hopes to find a girl that will make you forget about Melissa, at least for one night, someone you could release all your sexual frustration with. And you are successful at it, you meet some girl and you hook up with her in the bathroom of the club, something you are not proud of at this point in your life, but love is making you lose your mind. You don’t continue to hang out around your hook up, instead you return to the restroom to wash your face and the shame of what you had just done. Not that you were against one night stands, just that you knew you weren’t doing it for the right reasons. At this point you are drunk and so high and your cognitive faculties are just not all there. You notice the girl let some hickies on your neck and a childish idea pops into your head. You snap a selfie and upload it to your insta story, you barely had any people there but you definitely had Melissa. She never posted but she loved snooping around and watching cooking reels, you knew she’d see it. You wanted her to see that you were wanted, even if it wasn’t by her.
The next morning you woke up massively hungover and instantly regretting the poor decisions you had made the previous night. You are sat in your bed when you notice you have a bunch of notifications.
“Girl didn’t know you were freaky like that” - Ava replied to your story
“Y/n did you mean to post this?” - your best friend said
and there it was, Melissa Schemmenti had seen it and stayed silent, a rush of nervousness took over your body, why did you care? she had Gary!! She was your friend!
“Ugh” you say to yourself as you lay back down in bed, picking up your phone to delete the selfie, you looked hot but honestly is not something you wanted on the internet.
Suddenly your phone buzzes again, its a text from Jacob.
“Hey y/n, are we still gonna see you at kareoke tonight?”
SHIT SHIT SHIT, you had completely forgotten you had agreed to go out to a kareoke night with the Abbott crew. The desire to cancel creeps up in your body, but you know you shouldn’t, you haven’t talked to Melissa in 4 days and this might be a good time to see what is going on with her. You leave out a sigh and send a message.
“Yes, can’t wait”
———————————————————————————-
By the time you make it to the Karaoke Bar everyone is already there. You walk in and everyone greets you with the usual enthusiasm, everyone except Melisda who gives you a dry “Hi” and tenses under your body as you give her a quick hug. This makes your stomach drop and you quickly step away from her.
The rest of the night was awkward, you sat in a table next to Janine and endured Ava’s neverending jokes about your hickies and how hot you looked on your story last night. You were tipsy at this point but didn’t want to drink to the point that you would make a fool of yourself. Melissa ignored you the whole time, only shooting some glances at you, she seemed so upset and you couldn’t understand why. Why was she acting that way? She made it clear it was awkward that her coworkers even mentioned that you two were together. So why would she be upset you slept with someone else. You were FRIENDS. Maybe she wasn’t mad at you. Maybe it was about her, maybe it wasn’t personal. You decided to try and relax.
You watched Janine perform every Katy Perry song under the sun, while Gregory refused to pick up a microphone. Barbara sang Careless Whisper and her voice was delightful. Of course Ava went up and performed some Beyonce tunes. It was your turn and you didn’t know what to sing.
“Oh I know” - Jacob said as he shot you a smile “I know you listen to girl in red, he says before he winked at you and handed you the microphone”.
And there you were, all eyes on you, singing “I wanna be your girlfriend”, this seemed like a cosmic joke and it was happening and the worst timing possible. You had tried to resist but there was no use. The entire room was looking at you but somehow you only felt Melissa’s eyes burning through your body.
You went on.
I don't wanna be your friend, I wanna kiss your lips (ooh-ooh-ooh)
I wanna kiss you until I lose my breath (ooh-ooh-ooh)
I don't wanna be your friend, I wanna kiss your lips (ooh-ooh-ooh)
I wanna kiss you until I lose my breath
You were about to sing the chorus again when you saw Melissa furiously grab her bag and run out of the establishment. Everyone looking shocked, including yourself. You stood there, frozen.
“Bestie if you don’t go get your girl” - Ava shouted
“Told you I shouldn’t have made her sing that song, Ava” - Jacob protested
“Boy these two needed some help” - Ava tells him
You weren’t sure this had been any help but you followed Melissa regardless. Or why they would say that. Melissa was with someone and she wasn’t gay. You walk out of the bar and there she was sitting in her car. You could see her through the windshield, biting her nails, looking rather anxious.
You stood by the opposite window, and pleaded her to open the car.
“Go away, Y/N” - she said in annoyance
“Mel, open up”
“For what? Don’t you have to go find another girl to sleep with?”
“i dont, and if i did so what? What is it to you?”
She mumbled something to herself you couldn’t quite hear.
You sighed “Are you going to let me in?”
“What is your problem with me? Why did you go no contact? Why are you ignoring me? Why are you so mad I slept with someone? I thought we were better friends.”
She stayed silent, looking down at her hands, she looked unsure, you had never seen Melissa look unsure of herself.
“Are you going to look at me and tell me what the hell is going on because I am losing my mind here, Mel. You know how much I care about you and this is so unfair. I want my friend back.” - you said, tears forming in your eyes.
“I don’t wanna be your friend” - she said, still not looking at your face.
“What, why? Are you overthinking things? Is it Gary? Is it because people think we are together? Does that make you uncomfortable? Please Melissa tell me because I don’t want to lose my friend”
“Fuck y/n you won’t lose your friend because I don’t want to be your friend, I want to be whatever that song said, I like you okay. And no, Gary is not jealous or if he is I don’t know because I broke it off with him”
You sat there, frozen, a million thoughts going through your brain and not knowing what to respond.
She met your gaze for a second before returning it back to her hands. “And I stopped replying because i felt pathetic, like I have all these feelings for you when I am so much older and I just didn’t know what to do, the fact that people started to notice made me think I should go for it, so i broke up with Gary and I needed some distance before I talked to you and then I saw you went and fucked someone else and of course you did! You are young and hot! And it all brought back my insecurities. Like you don’t want me and that is fine but it just hurt.”
You grabbed both of her hands, grinning like an idiot, she finally looked at you.
“What is so funny to you? God, I am pathetic”
“Melissa Ann Caterina Schemmenti, you are the least pathetic person I have ever met, and nothing is funny, I am just, I dont know, happy? excited?”
“What do you mean?” - she furrowed her eyebrows and then her face relaxed, a hint of hope forming in her eyes.
“I like you, a lot, since we first met and you used to fight me, I loved your fire and your passion. And then you let me in and i learned to love your softness and your kindness and God, do i love your body. You are the most beautiful woman I have ever met. You make me feel like no one else ever has. I have broken my heart over and over again just to be by your side Mel. Just being your friend was enough for me, if it meant i could be close to you. I never thought you would like me, but i wanted to be with you, however that looked.” - you said, staring into her eyes, which were glassy from the tears that were begging to stream down her cheeks.
“Can I kiss you” - you said, both of your hands already cupping her face, she nodded and you placed your lips on hers. It was soft, it was intimate, it conveyed every feeling you had for each other, it was long and slow and you felt like you were in heaven. She tasted like the most delicious dessert and felt better than you ever hoped.
After a few minutes, you both pulled away, both smiling trying to dissipate the tension.
“So you always liked me? Why did you never say anything y/n?”
“Well Mel, I wasn’t the straight one with a boyfriend, I never thought I had a chance and I didn’t want to ruin things, you are far too special to me”.
Her eyes softened and she leaned in to give you another kiss. Once again you went to heaven. You finally had this woman in your arms and you couldn’t believe it.
“So you want to do this?” - she asked you in a low tone, one that wasn’t very Schemmenti of hers.
“Mmm let me think”
“Idiot - she let our a chucke as she pull you in for another kiss, as it turns out she couldn’t get enough of those.
“Of course I do, Mel, it would be my pleasure”
“Alright babe, lets do this”
“Oh i am already getting pet names” you grinned like an idiot, and you were one, an idiot in love whose prayers had just been answered.
“You are so beautiful” - you tell her, now in a serious tone, your hand playing with her fingers as you looked into her eyes. “You are like a dream to me, and i hope that you can see that, i have spent so many months wondering what it would be like to kiss you, and this feels surreal and I just want you to know that I want to make you happy, I don’t want to fail at this. So please, I just ask you to be open and honest with me, so please no more icing me out, okay? Whatever you need, I will give it to you but I need you to communicate with me.”
“I promise I’ll try, hon. I want this so badly, it scares the fuck out of me, but I don’t want to lose you.”
You spend a while just sitting in her car, listening to one of the many playlists you had made her and never sent to her. Holding each other and talking about all the instances in which you had wished you could be with each other. Talking about everything you could do now that you were seeing each other. Somehow it felt perfect, it was just you and your Melissa, like you always had been. This time you just didn’t have to hold back on your feelings. You could kiss her and touch her all you wanted. You could sing all the songs you have wanted to dedicate to her since you met her. She liked you, just like you liked her and it was your reality.
After a while you both parted ways, deciding to keep it a secret for a while since Melissa’s break up with Gary was so recent. You also wanted some time to keep this for yourselves. To have a space for each other that was sacred and untouchable by anyone.
—————————————————————————————-
The next few weeks were magical, you woke up every morning excited about life, planning what you were going to do to make your girlfriend feel special. You loved sending her sweet good morning texts, buying her flowers and picking her up after school to take her wherever she wanted to go.
It had been four weeks since you had started dating and everything felt perfect, just like before, now just there wasn’t any Gary and you were able to show your feelings for her, but you realized you never had an actual date, you had never officially asked her to be your girlfriend. Hell, you hadn’t even had sex yet, which if you were being honest, was quite difficult for you, but Melissa always seemed hesitant, you didn’t know why, but you respected her and wanted to do things on her terms. You decide that is time you ask her to be your girlfriend and start planning out the perfect date.
You do your research and set your mind on Fork, a beautiful restaurant in Philly that was known for their exquisite dishes and romantic ambiance. It was quite pricey but Melissa deserved the world, and that is exactly what you wanted to give her. You made a reservation for that weekend. Then proceed to order the biggest bouquet of flowers you could find. You send her the most gorgeous deep red roses, along with a note.
"My amore, it's time for a proper date. Let me pick you up at 7 this Saturday, and make sure to wear something fancy. - Love, y/n”
You wish you could be there when she received them, but keeping this air of mystery makes it all more fun.
The roses are set to be delivered on Thursday at 7pm and at 7:30 you get a message from Melissa.
Mel:
“Baby, these flowers are beautiful, you are the sweetest girl. I’ll make sure to wear something as pretty for you this Saturday.”
You:
“The best for my gorgeus lady. Even though no flower can match your beauty.”
Mel:
“You sure know how to talk to a woman huh. Can’t wait to see you, hon.”
Saturday rolls around and you spend all afternoon trying to practice in your head what you are going to tell her. Fully knowing that you will be a mess and whatever comes out of your mouth is not going to be your rehearsed speech.
Around 6:30 you make your way to Melissa’s house. Your palms were sweaty but you felt quite excited. You pull up and at the door you are received by the most beautiful view your eyes had ever seen. Melissa was wearing a beautiful black dress with a sinful neckline that left little to the imagination. It fit her like it was made only for her, perfect for her body.
“Wow, Mel. You look like a vision, are you real? You are beautiful, my love.” - you say as you hold both her hands and your eyes travel up and down her body appreciating her beauty.
“You look hot, babe. Lets go, gotta show you off to people”
You both get in your car and drive to the restaurant. Tou had requested an intimate table as you had informed the restaurant that this would be a celebratory night.
“Wow, y/n, this is insane. You didn’t have to” - she says as she looks around the restaurant, looking at the beautiful decoration, the big chandeliers, the soft jazz coming through the speakers.
“Anything for my lady” - you say as you press a kiss to her lips and guide her to your table.
“You really are a romantic huh, can’t believe I didn’t fess up sooner”
“Well you were wasting your time with Mr. Dave & Busters” - you teaser her
She lets out a loud laugh and you feel so proud of yourself. Nothing makes you happier than to make Melissa laugh but you had also been dying to make a dig at Gary.
“Can I say again how absolutely stunning you look tonight, Mel?
“Please go on” - she says as she rests her head on her hands and attentively looks at you… her emerald green eyes looking deeply into your soul and making the butterflies on your stomach start fluttering.
“Well, you are, you are the most breathtaking woman I have ever seen”
“Funny you say that, because I think that is you”
“Thank you but thats just impossible” - you respond
She smiles and continues to look at the menu. The night is perfect, you drink some glasses of wine and eat the most delicious food. Melissa had ordered the ribeye and you decided to give the monkfish a try. You both share your dishes, feeding each other, sharing lustful and loving glances. Your heart feels full and you can tell hers do to. You realize your nearly at the end of the meal and you have to finally ask her if she wants to be your girlfriend. You order the chocolate mousse, which you had previously requested to come with “Will you be my girlfriend?” written on the plate. Once the waiter leaves you look back into her eyes and reach for her hand, before you commence your speech. Melissa gives you a puzzling look before she relaxes her hand into yours.
“Melissa, ever since I met you you have brought an immense amount of happiness into my life.” - you start and Melissa looks at you like you had hung the moon for her.
You continue “You are the most passionate, funny and hard headed person i know, which is what makes me live you even more. You make every day an adventure, just sitting next to you listening to you talking about the Eagles makes my day and I don’t even know anything about football. You are tough and you are soft and so incredibly caring. The way you care about your kids makes my heart so soft. You are also so funny and such a good time, you make me feel alive and like this silly life is worth living. You make me feel understood and listened to and you care so much about me. You are just incredible. You are everything I have ever wanted and hoped for. Plus, you make a mean lasagna.” - you are now nearly in tears as you see the waiter comer over and place the plate in front of her and quickly walk away.
“So with all that.” - you signal to the plate and she reads it, an excited expression forming in her face as she reads the question.
“Melissa Ann Caterina Schemmenti, will you be my girlfriend” - you ask her as you are now sat by her side, she quickly nods her head
“Yes y/n, yes, god you are the sweetest girl” - she says as she presses you into a kiss and hugs you tightly.
You both proceed to dig into the dessert and feed each other spoonfuls. “This dessert is almost as sweet as you, my girlfriend” - she says as she plants a kiss on your forehead.
You both leave the restaurant happier than you were when you came in, even if that was even possible. You walk a little around the city, hand in hand, taking in the view as Melissa tells you stories of things she used to do in this part of town when she was younger. You loved listening to her telling you her mysterious tales.
After a while you decided to come back to your apartment and have some drinks. Melissa can’t keep her hands off you the whole drive home and you wonder if tonight is finally going to be the night when you’ll get to show her just how much you love her. You try to not get your hopes up, as it is completely fine if she doesn’t want to, just her presence is enough to have you intoxicated.
You both arrive to your place and you pull out a bottle of Merlot. You hand a glass to Melissa and guide her to your couch. You both sit and you just watch as her lips get stained by the red liquid. You can’t help but wonder how they taste now and quickly press your lips on hers.
She moves closer to you and now your bodies pressed against each other as you kiss and caress each other softly. Your lips come together, pressing together gently and tenderly as you both move slowly and intimately. Your kisses were sweet and loving, full of affection and passion. Your hands gently explored each other's bodies, feeling each other’s skin. The kisses become more heated and your hand starts to travel up her thigh. You can feel her pulling away from you and you look at her with concern. Melissa seems embarrassed, a look of doubt and shame in her face.
“Baby what is it?” Did i do something wrong?” - You ask her, searching for an answer in her face. She has a puzzling look you cant quite decipher.
“I.. I just..” - frustration building up in her body, Melissa struggles being vulnerable, she is used to being sure of herself and the fact that she can’t effectively say what she is feeling without feeling ashamed makes her upset.
“Mel, please tell me” - you say as you squeeze her hand, trying to make her feel like it is okay to be honest with you.
“I just.. you are a girl”
“Wouldn’t have guessed by my huge tits” - you say jokingly trying to make her feel more comfortable.
“I just have never been with one” - she admits shyly
“Never?” - you say, wanting her to go on talking about her feelings.
You move closer to her, holding one of her hands and caressing her arm with the other. She sighs and goes on to tell you about her experience.
“I made out with girls in college, but nothing more. I just didn’t want to deal with it, i shoved all those feelings deep down in my brain, i shut down any thoughts I had about women, I told myself it wasn’t something I needed to act on, that it wasn’t something i needed and then you came around, y/n and i tried, i tried not to like you, i tried finding every excuse under the sun as to why I shouldn’t get closer to you, why i shouldn’t crave you, and then i told you, and im happy I did. You are so beautiful and so kind, and funny and smart and your body drives me absolutely crazy. But now here I am, and I don’t know what to do, and I am so scared i am going to make a fool of myself. God i feel like a teenager again.”
“Mel, baby, it is okay, we don’t have to do anything you aren’t ready for. I promise I don’t mind. I like spending time with you and kissing you and if you don’t want to I’ll wait.” - you reassure her, caressing her cheeks, she closes her eyes against your palm and you softly kiss her lips.
“I am ready, I think, I want to, I just, don’t want to disappoint you”
“Melissa, you could never. You can take me to heaven with a kiss. Do you trust me?”
She nods and looks at you as you stand up and strech your hand for her to grab. She places your hand on yours, you can tell she is hesitant but wants this as badly as you do.
You guide her into your room and sit her down at the edge of your mattress. Her eyes never leaving your body, following every single one of your gestures, wondering what you are going to do next. You kiss her lips, softly at first, then more passionately, she leaves out a low moan, you continue to savor her lips, softly slipping your tongue inside, exploring her mouth, you hear her whimper as she shifts on your bed. You kiss her jaw and continue down to her neck, softly sucking on her pulse point, her hands around your waist. “Tell me to stop if you don’t want to continue okay?” You give her a chaste kiss on the lips. “You better not” She says and now you can see the lust in her eyes, which makes you feel incredibly excited. You continue kissing her upper body, taking in her scent, kissing her all over, enjoying her whimpers and moans
You reach her for her tits and give them a squeeze, this time is you the one that lets out a moan. “Fuck, Mel I have wanted to touch them for so long”. Melissa's breath gets caught in her throat at your admission and her body tingle with excitement as you touch her. The sensation of your hands softly grazing across her breasts sent a flutter in her heart and a shiver of desire through her body. For a moment, she leaned back, enjoying the feeling of your hands on her still fully clothed body. She closed her eyes and let herself soak up the sensations of your touch. Her body trembled with excitement as your fingers lightly traced the shape of her breasts. She let out a soft moan of pleasure and her breath grew heavy with desire. “Can i please take your dress off” She nods and you help her slip out of the garment. Leaving her in her black lacy set. “God you are stunning”. Your hands wander all over her body before you make your way back to her breasts. “Can I see them, please, Mel?” you ask her with pleading eyes, you want her to know how badly you want her, how much you crave her. “Yes, beautiful, God you are so good at this”. Her words of reassurance send tingles throughout your body. You can’t believe you are making this goddess feel good. You shift positions and now you are the one sitting on the bed as you make her straddle your lap. You kiss her passionately as you unhook her bra, revealing her beautiful full breasts, your mouth waters and your core aches, god they are more beautiful than you could have ever imagined. You take one of her erect nipples in your mouth and play with the other one. You can tell Melissa is already comfortable enough with you as she throws her head back and relentlessly grinds her against your thighs as you play with her tits. You savor every moment and you can tell she is having a wonderful time. “Fuck, y/n that feels soooo good, I am so wet baby”. You hummm against her nipples and her body twiches in pleasure. “You are so sexy, Mel”, your hands now guiding her hips against your thighs while your lips focus on her upper body. “Inside, please y/n.. i need you” she breathlessly begs and you obey. You wrap a hand around her waist while the other one travels down to her pussy, your fingers running up and down her folds in a slow motion, feeling her wetness. “God baby, I guess you really like me huh” you say with a smirk. “Yes please, fuck me, please” - Melissa says, her eyes closed as she enjoys the sensations you are causing by playing with her clit. “Your wishes are my command, beautiful” a you say and you quickly insert one of your fingers insider her hole, then another one, god she feels so good. You find the perfect rhythm and her body is melting into yours, your face between her boobs, her perfectly riding your fingers, the room is filled with her moans as well as yours. You insert a third finger insider her and you can feel Melissa cum as she holds onto your shoulders, then falling limp on you. You caress her back as you kiss her head and whisper sweet words in hear ear.
When she comes back to her senses you can see tears forming in her eyes which makes you panic. “Mel, are you okay?”
“Am i okay? I am fucking great” she says laughing through the tears in her eyes. “Nobody has made me feel like this y/n. God I can’t believe I waited so long to let you do this”
“Well, I am available any time you want now, my love.” - You tell her as she pulls you into a deep kiss.

————————————————
The air was cold against Melissa’s skin. Sudden, cold, and sobering. The three glasses of wine seemed to leave her cloudy conscience in seconds. What with the wild haired woman sinking down to the floor— having hiked Mel’s dress up over those delicious hips.
“Mmm…I can smell the soothing oil you used. Coconut and Pomegranate? Must’ve waxed…” You hummed to yourself, lacy red panties were swiftly pulled to the side, exposing the redhead to you.
“Y..yeah I- I uh- waxed for you. Thought you’d appreciate it..” manicured nails raked affectionately through your hair. “Seems like you do…” the nerves that Melissa was having began to ease, thinking of all the places the night might go.
Gentle, slender fingers swiped over puffy lips, drooling with want and desire. You hummed in amusement, savouring the way that Mel trembled at the touch. Like it was second nature, you laid your tongue flat against your plaything’s folds, pulling a heavy groan from the redhead above.
“I-inside…” Melissa murmured through light breaths.
“Hmm?” You quirked an eyebrow, piercing eyes stirring with question at the redhead’s remarks.
“I need you inside- fuck..”
You grabbed both of Melissa’s thighs, nails creating half moon craters in their wake. Spreading them further, you quietly obliged, parting the redhead’s lips with two fingers, pulling away to spit in your hand and firmly slapping Mel’s cunt.
“A-ah fuck…fuck!” A high pitched squeal ripped from Melissa- to both your surprise.
“Of course a slut like you would like that. Again~”
Two more smacks followed, and before Mel could voice any complaints, she buckled at the sensation of two strong fingers curling into her. Her mouth fell open, eyes squeezing shut in ecstasy.
You chuckled, deep and low. It made Melissa’s thighs twitch. You always enjoyed the power you had, seeing your whorish neighbour crumble to dust in your hands. You brought your lips back to Mel’s cunt, focusing in on her clit with firm sucks and licks that left your chin dripping with juices.
“Y-Y/n! Jesus fucking- f-ffuck!” Melissa cried, her head tossing back and hitting the wall. Mel’s head span with pain and pleasure, the whole ordeal making her dizzy with need.
Another curl of your fingers sent the redhead careening over the edge, brought on and prolonged by your mouth enveloping her entire cunt. Her back arched, body going taught like a bow— before violent waves of overstimulation hit her. Melissa allowed the pleasure to fade into overstimulation, coming a second time shortly after the ravenette added a third finger.
“y/n— y-y/n…y/n..y/n…” She breathed, pulling your head away from her cunt. She saw how smug your face was, making her scowl in mock annoyance.
“Was it good? Better than your loser guy lackies?” you teased, chin dripping and shiny in the late night light.
“Mmh..I may need a larger sample to make any substantial determinations…how about you take me upstairs..?”
“…of course, my dear.” You hummed, sweeping Melissa off of her feet, the two of you giggling the entire way upstairs…

As a teacher working at abbot elementary for 2 years, you always hated late night teacher/staff meetings. It's not that it was boring. No way. There was always so pretty cool shit happening at teachers meetings.
All the amazing teenage stuff. You were cool with it especially since your girlfriend melissa schemmenti worked there aswell.
The thing you hated about the meetings were that sometimes the lights would randomly cut off, leaving the entire school in dark. Melissa found it cute how you would hold onto her arm for dear life. Stumbled weirdly in the dark.
It was teachers meeting again and melissa made sure to give you a scare again. This time she purposely turned off the lights to get your reaction. Well she knew if she went and turned them off you and the rest of the teachers will know so she got the cleaner to do it.
As soon as the lights went off you went crazy.
"Shit, fuck, crap, NOO" you cried in a whisper as you ran towards where melissa was standing, even if it was dark you knew where she was. Her perfume is way to strong, it's like a GPS. After all she uses a bottle a day.
"Babe protect me lissa" you said shaking her body back and forth as you squeezed your eyes shut.
Melissa chuckled as she tried steadying your scared body.
" honey deep breaths, ok your gonna be ok I'm right here" she cooed as she pulled you in for a hug. You finally found yourself relaxing. Her perfume intoxicating you, replacing your fears with peace. You took deep breaths as she held you firmly against her chest.
"There we go, good girl, see not so bad" she whispered as she placed a kiss on your cheek.
" That's a wrap people see ya'll next week" ava said as she walked towards the door in the dark, you don't know what kind of super natural powers she had because apparently she could see very well in the dark.
" she's got no heart" you whispered angry. Ava stopped in her tracks and turned around, although you couldn't see her because it was dark, you knew very well the facial expression she had on right now.
" melissa control your puppy because if it wasnt dark I'd-" before she could finish Barba cut her off, everyone one in the room knew what ava was about to say.
" ok, everyone out" Barbara said in her harsh tone, she was like the mother of everyone. Always kept things in order.
You wrapped your arm around Melissa's arm, tugging harshly at her shirt, almost ripping her shirt off her body.
" babe relax" melissa cooed kissing your cheek every step you took.
You stop dead in your tracks making melissa almost fall.
" kiss me" you said plainly with a glint in your eyes, fire in your eyes and a smirk on your face .It was dark but you could tell that melissa also had a smirk painted on her face.
" kiss me I'll kiss back" you said again and in an instant her lips were on yours. It was slow and passionate. You moaned softly into the kiss, giving her tongue perfect entry into your mouth.
Both your tongues fighting for dominance like great men in war. Her lips were soft as marshmallows against yours, ascending you into heaven.
She always took her time with you when it came to kissing.
You both pulled away for air. Melissa placed her hands on your waist, pulling you closer to her.
" I asked the cleaner to turn off the lights so I can see your cute little reaction" she spoke softly squeezing your waist gently.
" you piece of shit" you said as you both began to laugh.
" come on, I'll make it up to you at home, Mia cara" she said softly, her raspy voice in Italian making you melt completely, if it wasnt for her big hands you'd be on the floor.
She guided you out the building safely and took you home. You both made dinner and watched TV shows before falling asleep in eachother's embrace.
As she fell asleep you thought about different ways you could get her back...
