As we enter Over the Garden Wall season, remember: Friends don't let friends pigeonhole Over the Garden Wall as being about death and the afterlife and Dante's Inferno.

Can I just say, the fact that the high lords don’t all wear generic crowns in their colors, but it actually ties to their courts makes me happy?and they probably all have quite a few different themed ones?
Tamlin with his burnished gold laurel leaf crown at the wedding that was a courtly version of the calanmai crown he probably dawns each year? And his tithe crown is so suited to more strict moments with its representation of wealth and stability?
Tarquin with his silver cresting waves and blue gemstones for a casual night out on the town? As asymmetrically stunning as the very waters he connects his court to, the blues of the stones glinting with white and green and the depths of the very ocean hidden by the brash, crashing beauty created by the surface?
Helions spiked gold crown as vicious and pointed yet beautiful and picturesque as the suns rays? As warm in color as his skin yet simple and statement making in it power just like helion himself- not needing much adornment to radiate the strength, beauty and deadly power and wicked intelligence he holds?
Rhys has a raven feather crown which makes me wonder if previous highlords of night weren’t just serpentile like the creatures of the hewn city but dark winged and raven featured in some way? (And Feyres crown - complimentary to Rhys isn’t just a newly made item, it existed in tandem with his for previous ladies of night I’m assuming so it ties to the court that way as well?)
Autumn court with its mixture of Medieval English and conqueror era Spanish style in my head? With traditional red and green stones highlighted the most and silver and gold alike, crosses and points to their headwear? Very formal and structured, not just to denote their position, but to reinforce tradition, wealth, class structures, very inline with what I’d assume of the autumn courts viciousness mentioned in the books? Beautiful but vicious.
Winter court with near white shining metals, carved glass and crystal bases for ice diamonds; blue, gray, & frosty fogged stones? Dark blues and wicked gnarled features representing barren branches and shards of ice????
Dawn court with its sweeping elegance and love of beautiful embellishments and pension for color? The people are noted to be largely from Xian as noted by SJM and I always imagine dawn court to be a beautiful mix of Indian and Chinese culture, and the jewelry reflects it, beautifully Intrically carved warm toned metals that depict stories or symbolism entertwined with the culture? Stoned used abundantly yet they’re never garish? They only enhance and bring out the beauty of the crowns and reflect the cultures within the court itself?
(Like I’d love to dive deeper into it and maybe make or paint the crowns one day but that’s a different story)
That’s it that’s the post grammar be darned.

How heavy my mind is, filled with the past. Is there enough room for the world to penetrate? It must go somewhere, it cannot simply sit on the surface—

Not me being mad that Moon can't assist Gale in becoming a god and overtaking Mystra- becoming a god as well like Gale promises, thus becoming some sort of mind flayer divine that can now guide and lead other independent mind flayers, perhaps even evolve them.
"The lesson is mortals shouldn't be after godhood-" MYSTRA WAS MORTAL BEFORE SHE BECAME A GOD! SHE HAS NO RIGHT TO TALK!
Also, my BG 1 and 2 boy is giving you MAD JUDGEMENT because he canonnly became a divine and is doing fabulous as the first non-evil god of death.

Song of the Day: February 26
“Diamonds in the Mud” by Gerry Cinnamon
#song of the day#another song off that same excellent concept playlist by losersimonriley#there's so many more Scottish bands added to my circulation now it's wonderful#this is a song specifically about Glasgow being his hometown so he uses more of his accent for it which I love#I've been pestering my brothers with accent and slang fun facts for a while now#more or less since the first time somebody had Soap use a particular Scottish saying in their CoD fic and made me go over all !!!!#'innsidh na geòidh as t'fhoghar e' translates to 'the geese will tell it in autumn' and reading that nearly made me explode#because when I was a small child and I asked my uncle too many 'why' questions he told me not to worry about it#that the geese would tell me next fall#amazing to me to find out decades later through Call of Duty fanfiction that that's an actual phrase#preserved for who knows how many generations between the first Scottish folks who must've brought it to Appalachia#and then eventually my Uncle Tommy who decided to use it to turn the aggravation tables around on a child#I'm thinking about that again now not just because it still blows my mind a little bit#(really truly had so firmly accepted it as just my Uncle Tommy trolling me with nonsense. it's such a thing he'd do)#but also because of a specific bit from the end of the song 'it's thirteen degrees and there's folk in the street in the scud'#that's just under 60F (a blissfully warm sunny day in Glasgow it seems) and 'in the scud' means 'naked'#which is also a thing I've almost heard from my family!#my aunts up the mountain and therefore also my father at times would say 'in the scuff' (my aunts with a little tilt to the vowel sound)#there was a sort of connotation of it being a silly or immature or maybe drunken sort of naked. an unimpressive naked at least#like 'Tommy fell into the muddy end of the pond trying to catch that damnfool heron' (this is a true story btw. take that Uncle Tommy)#'when he got back his wife made him take off all his clothin in the yard and hose down first. had to walk into his house in th scuff'#and then all the old ladies cackle about Tommy walkin through his door 'both heads hangin low' and my dad winces a little bit#it's important I share all these memories with my siblings now. most of the family's dead and gone and the boys don't remember#very fun for me to tell the stories now and see Nick do the exact same wince at the slightly mean-spirited dick commentary#just a little family legacy in action. thank you Gerry Cinnamon#(in the spirit of song-of-the-day though I will share my favorite line without the contextual boost of silly ereborne family stories:#'I know a guy who's a lightweight one or two jars and he's buckled#he's the guy that loses keys has to break into his ain house and gets huckled'#ungodly fun to sing and I do know several of this guy. not related to them though. my whole family drinks like fish)

6 (A song that makes you want to dance)?
Probably Phantasm Machine ~ Phantom Factory from the touhou album Changability of Strange dream. The piece has a strong percussive nature to it and a faster pace that I find tends to give it a dance rhythm. The piece was originally written for the game Seihou Shuusou Gyoku as a piece for the pc98, one of the last games zun would write for. I think is is also one of the last remakes of a pc 98 song to end up on any cd or in any game which is neat. In the commentary in Seihou Zun even commented he was going for a more percussive song.
The version on CoSD has a lot more textural sounds you can't get on a pc98 but still follows the same general structure. The melody itself is fairly simple and the piece is mostly in an ABABA sort of structure, with a coda that just repeats the A section with what sounds like melody harmonizing a 6th up. B section is a bit more harmonically complex and modulates to the subdominant (4th).

How about 9 and/or 24 :)
9: tell a story from your childhood
In fourth grade I remember my class got to go on a field trip to a conservation area for our science class I think? It was winter and because I was the smallest the snow was up to my hips. But we were playing this game called Food Chain, all of us were assigned different animals and we had to hide from predators and catch other animals and get food and water stamps from these posts on the trees. I remember feeling really powerful because I got the wolf, all the way at the top of the food chain behind natural disasters, and it was really cool cause I’m the smallest and shyest in my class and they did not expect me to go nuts catching everybody lmao
24: what’s one thing you’re proud of yourself for?
Ummm trying harder these days!! It’s kind of a meh answer, but I’m happy with where I am right now doing a different program and with my job ^^ I’ve been trying this thing recently where you count down from 5 to 0 really quickly before your brain hesitates, so basically taking advantage of my impulsiveness, and it’s worked really well getting me out of bed every day and doing stuff

Somehow the memory of laughing
With vaguely known classmates,
While we are acting out a modern-day take
On some Shakespeare play
As an assignment for language arts,
Feels the same to me
As the first notes of the Harry Potter soundtrack
And the crunch of crisp autumn leaves.
Safe.
