FUNNIEST (read: fucked up) THING about the Doctor deciding the Chuldurs' needed to suffer for killing Ruby? Is that the plan seemingly did not change.

The Doctor didn't change the settings to super hell dimension or anything. They just admitted to themselves how utterly inhumane trapping someone on a barren dimension for 600~ years would be. Flipping the exact same action from 'merciful' to 'rightful suffering', in an instant. They knew it was a fate worse than death. So no plan reworking was needed.

The Doctor is so fucked up, I love them.

Thinking about Robin and Sunday's halos.

About how Robin's halo isn't a closed circle, but more like a branch forming a circular shape, where the start and stem don't touch. It's also uneven in shape and splits into three flowers, like it's allowed to grow freely, unobstructed. Something about Robin having left Penacony and having escaped the confines of her cage, being able to flourish. About her being able to let people in, and connect to them.

Meanwhile Sunday stayed behind to be the head of the Oak family and conform to the strict role that's expected of him, and his halo is a perfectly symmetrical shape that's practically fully closed off. It's sharp, almost more like a crown of thorns than a halo. And it almost doesn't have any openings to let anything, or anyone, in easily. It actively discourages getting close to it.

And then if you want to get sappy about, which I will - Sunday doesn't let anyone in, with that almost completely sealed, thorny halo of his... But there's an opening in Robin's halo, and so it can fit around Sunday's. Something about him always being able to find solace in her, because there's room for him in her (halo) heart always, by design.

Anyway I'm not normal about them.

Happy Audio Drama Sunday! I emerge from the mines (moving and unpacking) to do a short post about two shows that premiered this week that absolutely rule.

🪼Mercy: A Queer Eldritch Western caught my attention because i frikkin love a fantastical western pastiche. And it did not disappoint. Mercy and the surrounding towns are under seige by eldritch laughing jellyfish, and the only people who are trying to help are a mysterious cowboy and a doctor of the arcane who talks WAY too much. The sound design is SWEET, the writing is incredible, i’m in love with these characters already, please check it out.

🏘️ It’s no secret that I’ve been excited for Shelterwood, being one of the producers, and I did have the opportunity to listen to the first two episodes before this week, but I waited so i could savor it with y’all. And folks….This show is terrifying in a way that creeps into my bones. I’m sure it’s because I’m a suburban kid myself, but holy heck. Now I know what happens next, and you are not gonna want to miss it.

That’s all for me! Someone hit up the Sandman for me, i need to sleep today.

Second Sunday of Easter

Sunday of Divine Mercy

Jn 20:19-31

On the evening of that first day of the week,

when the doors were locked, where the disciples were,

for fear of the Jews,

Jesus came and stood in their midst

and said to them, "Peace be with you."

When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side.

The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.

Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you.

As the Father has sent me, so I send you."

And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them,

"Receive the Holy Spirit.

Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them,

and whose sins you retain are retained."

Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve,

was not with them when Jesus came.

So the other disciples said to him, "We have seen the Lord."

But he said to them,

"Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands

and put my finger into the nailmarks

and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."

Now a week later his disciples were again inside

and Thomas was with them.

Jesus came, although the doors were locked,

and stood in their midst and said, "Peace be with you."

Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands,

and bring your hand and put it into my side,

and do not be unbelieving, but believe."

Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God!"

Jesus said to him, "Have you come to believe because you have seen me?

Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."

Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples

that are not written in this book.

But these are written that you may come to believe

that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God,

and that through this belief you may have life in his name.

edward nashton is tough. genuinely. most math/science people i know don’t have a musical/artistic bone in their body but i’m gonna play it safe with bass clarinet OR trombone . seems like a trombone guy to me

alternatively, they give up on him and put him with the vocalists cuz he can sing (he hates it)

barry/alex is one hundred percent going ham on the glockenspiel i’m not explaining myself you’re gonna have to trust me.

also i feel like if he could get the hang of it, he’d enjoy the flute

timothy klitz 100% plays trumpet and is bad at it. terribly. only picked it up cuz he saw 3 valves and thought it was the easiest one. can only barely read sheet music

jay (okja) IS a clarinet. the embodiment of. there’s a certain kind of elegance to a clarinet that isn’t the same elegance of a violin or piano and i feel like he’s that

eli sunday can’t read sheet music. he can’t make a sound for any woodwind or brass instrument. by default he’s a vocalist i can’t explain it but i KNOW he’s got a nice set of pipes

alternatively, i see him taking interest in the cello

dwayne hoover is definitely on bass guitar or he’s a percussionist . just look at him how could he not be. plus he thinks the bass makes him look cool. really wants to try french horn though

burt fabelman if you don’t get your ass on that piano right now so HELP me lord . i mean was this even a question? call me lazy i don’t CARE

Damn. She was cute. A thought Jane rarely had about other people, much less one she'd have on a target. This was not good, not good at all. All of her meticulous planning right out the window, and for what? An objectively attractive woman sitting by her lonesome, whose face reminded Jane of a bunnyrabbit, petite and innocent with a penchant for running away to dare the wolves to chase after her.

Sokka: I’m so nervous about addressing the warriors before the Day of Black Sun. Zuko, you were a Prince or something, how do you talk to crowds?

Zuko: Uh I’m pretty bad at public speaking. The last time I addressed an audience, I was burned and banished by my father so uh yeah. After that it was just yelling at my crew who absolutely did not listen to me. Probably because I was 13 and annoying.
