Happy MerMay everyone! This year my theme is Vintage Mermaid Barbies! Specifically the ones I have collected. Starting with the OG from 1991 Mermaid Barbie! She has color changing hair and a fabric tail. A total cutie.

It’s Barbie’s year so I sketched a few of my childhood favorite Barbies. This time it’s Jewel Hair Mermaid Barbie! Pulling those velcro stars out of her hair is a strong sense memory. I loved this doll, she was so pretty

Barbie has had a great deal of mermaid forms over the years, and among many other Barbies from through the years, this was represented in Barbie (2023).

In addition to a number of playline dolls and tie-ins to other Barbie media such as Dreamtopia, there have been collectors edition mermaids.

Enchanted Mermaid Barbie is a beautiful collectors edition Barbie, from 2001. On reseller sites at the moment, she is going for multiple thousands of dollars. And understandably, to an extent - she was a very limited run, and is decked out in head to toe (or more accurately, head to tail) pearls and sparkles.

Not to be confused with Mermaid Enchantress from 2018, as a part of the Mythical Muse series.

Although there are some similarities in colour scheme, not to mention name, Mermaid Enchantress incorporates both gold and pink to create a unique look.

As part of the gold label collection, Mermaid Enchantress Barbie had less than 20,000 models released.

DUA LIPA at the 2023 Variety Power of Women event on November 16th 2023 wearing VIVIENNE WESTWOOD

Dua sported red hair and a red dreess at the Varierty Power of Women event. I thought she looked great. She looks so good with red hair, and I like that she didn’t shy away from wearing a red dress as well. I loved the style of the dress, but wasn’t a fan of the clutch.

Miss 1996, Bubbling Mermaid Barbie! She has a molded plastic tail with a lot of cute details and of course the crimped hair! I only have 1 mermaid barbie left for this series but she is very special to me so I can’t wait to show you her!
