This summer will bring you a BBC Merlin event, inspired by Merthur Party 2013! Albion Party 2021 is a month-long event, during which you'll get a chance not only to create fest-themed content, but also to compete with other participants. During sign-ups, you’ll be assigned to one of 4 teams, which will later transfer to separate chats on our Discord server. In the spirit of bringing the fandom together, each team will consist of both media creators and writers alike. You'll be free to create on your own, but the Discord chat will allow you to discuss ideas and even plan gaining extra points and overthrowing other teams!

Albion Party 2021 will run throughout August 2-29, with two weekly prompts, which you can complete on any day of that week. Whether you start on Monday and finish on Tuesday or post over the weekend, it's up to you! Each week will give you a chance to express your creativity, be it through fics, gifsets, videos, art or anything else you come up with to fulfil the prompts.

General prompts for all weeks will be revealed on July 5th, giving you a whole month to prepare for the party. Additionally, each week will bring extra team prompts, that will be a chance to earn points for your assigned team.

Merthur Party 2013: "The Golden Age"

originally this was my idea for the last day of the 2013 merthur party, day 7: the golden age. (very unique i know, not like we have modern merthur make video diaries already :p) aaaaaaaaaaanyway, i couldnt finish this stuff in time back then, but didnt let the idea go and now its become a bit of a mini-series of 10 sets so far. this is the intro.

note (since i've been asked about it a few times now): there is no actual youtube-channel ouralbion. this gifset series is meant to make it look like there was, but while i can make gifs and pics that (hopefully) look like youtube, i cannot make videos with the same dialogues as in the gifs (i wouldnt mind bradley and colin making them themselves though :D). anyway, that's why there is no youtube channel, sorry for the confusion.

Sorry to say that I wasn't able to serve as a very good captain during the actual event (or actually post something myself)! The week turned out a bit more hectic as I had originally anticipated, what with the entire household getting sick, but I'm glad to hear that the event was still a blast and that you all were able to have fun!

Quiet Days

Merthur Party- Bonus prompt

Some days were busy. Sometimes, they would barely have the time to eat or sleep or even talk for days. Sometimes, they wouldn’t see each other for weeks. They both knew that something was changing; there was a shadow passing over what was once the kingdom of Albion, and they were all that stood in its way. Some days were filled with fighting evil, fulfilling their destinies, trying to save the world one step at a time.

Those were the best days, when they could forget everything that had been and everything that was yet to come, living just for those few blissful moments they could spend together.

Things were different, that was undeniable, but it was also expected. Neither of them were the same person they had once been, life and death and everything in between had changed them, aged them, so that if you were to look in their eyes, you would see men that had seen more pain than anyone should have to live through. It was okay though, because they had each other, and somehow that made everything slightly easier.

It was on one of those quiet days that something happened. Afterwards, they would tell people that that was when they changed, but that wasn’t true. It was more an acceptance of an ancient truth, an eventual decision to finally act on all those unsaid things.

They were in London, and even so soon after dawn, it was clearly going to one of the warmest days of the year so far. They were renting a small flat in the middle of the city. Usually they would stay in a hotel, but they were planning on remaining in London for the rest of the summer, so they managed to find somewhere relatively cheap to stay for a while. Merlin had left the curtains open, and so he woke as the sun pierced the world with its golden rays. He rubbed his eyes wearily and eased himself out of bed, leaving the sheets messy and unmade as he stepped towards the window. The city sprawled out around him, so peaceful and quiet, only just beginning to wake up.

When he opened the door to the sitting room, he expected to find it empty, but it wasn’t. Arthur was already awake and stood by the window, a cup of coffee in his hands. The sunlight made his hair seem like spun gold, and he glowed with an almost ethereal quality. Merlin stood in the doorway, content with just quietly watching. As soon as they started talking, his courage would be shattered for another day, and he wouldn’t say anything that he really wanted to say. Strange, how so few words can be so difficult to say.

He could stand there all day, his eyes fixed on the other man. Arthur was so wonderful, with his brilliant smile that lit up his whole face, and his chivalrous, noble manner that still remained after all those years. It wasn’t enough to say that Merlin was completely in love with him, because that never really described everything. There was so much history, so many thoughts and shared pain that passed between them unspoken. They understood each other; it was like they were two halves that became whole when together. Two sides of the same coin, Merlin thought with a smile.

“Morning,” Arthur said when he turned around, and Merlin felt his heart skip a little at the sound of his voice, “I didn’t know you were there,” He smiled warmly, fondly, his eyes passing over Merlin’s ruffled hair and crumpled clothes, inviting him to come closer.

“I haven’t been up long,” Merlin stifled a yawn and wandered over to where Arthur stood, his feet padding on the wooden floor. In the early morning sun, everything was simple, and Merlin stood close to Arthur, feeling comfortable in the intimacy of being so near to him. Arthur didn’t seem to mind, smiling softly at the other man.

“What d’you want to do today?” Merlin said quietly, after a few moments.

“I thought we could just stay inside,” Arthur reached his hand out, running his fingers through Merlin’s tangled hair. Things were different that morning, when it was so early that they forgot to tread carefully around each other.

“On a day like this?” Merlin flicked his eyes towards the window, with the sun streaming through, “What would we do all day?”

Arthur chuckled softly, and tilted his head to kiss Merlin. They fitted together like puzzle pieces, slowly relaxing into each other’s arms and wondering why they had spent so long just being friends, when they had clearly always been something more.
