Nandini - Karikalan World Tour
Aditha Karikalan tells Parthipendra Pallavan and chieftains that he wants to go to distant places and conquer them. Nandini tells Vanthiyathevan that she prefers wandering in the same places on a magic horse rather than even going to the heaven.
Nandini: No. I don’t wish to go to Heaven. There’s a desert in the Pandya country with a few barren rocks in the middle of it, where not even grass or weeds grow. There are some caves there. At one time Digambara Jains stayed in them and performed penance, but now only snakes and jackals live there.
We don't know who told her about this particular desert. It could have been Alvarkadiyan too, but he says that he told her about Alvar stories, pasurams and Vaishnavite pilgrimage sites. Moreover, he hates Jains. The person who sends Vanthiyathevan to a place full of such jain rock caves (but not the same as the one Nandini said) is Aditha Karikalan himself.
Jains had made artificial caves around the temple and built catacombs in them. Digambara Jains used to sit in these manmade caves and perform penance. Later, the temple was renovated by the Chozha king and rebuilt in granite. However, the surrounding catacombs formed a wall around it. . . . Vandiyathevan met Eesana Siva Bhattar at the temple as Aditha Karikalar had told him to do. Bhattar told him to wait in the Jain catacomb.
Nandini: If I could get a flying horse, I would go to that desert and then fly to the island of Lanka. I believe there are high mountains in Lanka and dense forests which cover them. Herds of elephants roam around in the distant islands, the way herds of buffaloes wander around in the Chozha country. I want to see them all.
Karikalan: We shall then leave for Lanka and gather a huge army and leave for countries like Java, Srivijaya, Sumatra, Burma and Malaya.
All these were places with different species of Asian elephants, named Elephas maximus maximus, E. m. indicus (our Indian elephant), E. m.sumatranus.
Nandini: They say that from the beginning of time, there have been mountains perennially covered with snow at the centre of the world [Himalayas, specifically Mount Meru was considered "bhoo-madhya", the centre of the world]. They glisten like silver when the sun rises. I want to go on a flying horse to see those hilltops.
Karikalan: Parthibendran and I will meet at the estuary of Ganges River. Then we will join forces and go further north. One of my forbears, my namesake, Karikala Valavan, went up the Himalayas and hoisted the Tiger Flag in the one of the peaks the mountain range . . . With the help of my sword, with the help of my soldiers I’ll become the Emperor of the territory north of River Krishna.
Nandini: Further away there are deserts . . .filled with white sand that feels like burning fire by day. I want to go to all those places. Further away, the sea water freezes so hard because of the intense cold, that men and animals can walk over it. I want to go to all those places on my flying horse.
Karikalan: We shall hoist our Chozha flag in these places and then go to Arabia, Persia, Egypt and Rome.
We can see two important differences in their words that show their gender - class difference.
As Karikalan is a man and a prince, going to these places is just a matter of logistics for him. He wants to establish Chola supremacy in those places. For Nandini, it is possible only through magic. Even in her dreams, she can imagine accomplishing this only by traveling on a flying horse.
Karikalan just mentions the names and none of his listeners enquire about these places. They all are similarly educated and knowledgeable. But Nandini doesn't know many names, except Lanka. It is the long descriptions that she remembers.
It is obvious that someone told her about all these places. Who else could have been it? Perhaps he even promised to take her with him ☹️

May the light of the lamp be equal to the great three thousand worlds and their environment,
May the wick of the lamp be equal to the King of Mountains – Mount Meru.
May the butter be equal to the infinite Ocean.
May there be billions of trillions of lamps in the presence of each and every Buddha.
May the light illuminate the darkness of ignorance of all sentient beings
From the peak of samsara down to the most tortuous hell,
Whereby they can see directly and clearly all the ten directions
Buddhas and bodhisattvas and their pure lands.

I offer these beautifully exulted clear and luminous lights
To the thousand Buddhas of the fortunate eon,
To all the buddhas and bodhisattvas of the infinite pure lands and of the ten directions,
To all the gurus, meditation deities, dakas, dakinis, dharma protectors and the assembly of deities of all mandalas.
Due to this, may my father, mother and all sentient beings in this life and in all their future lives,
Be able to see directly the actual pure lands of the complete and perfect buddhas,
May they unify with Buddha Amitabha in inseparable oneness,
Please bless me and may my prayers be actualized as soon as possible
Due to the power of the truth of the Triple Gem and the assembly of deities of the three roots.

The Quest for Buddhism (93)
Buddhist cosmology
Mt. Meru
According to Buddhist cosmology, Mount Meru (or Sumeru) is at the centre of the world, and Jambudvipa is south of it. It is 80,000 yojanas wide and 80,000 yojanas high or 84,000 yojanas high. A yojana is a measure of distance that was used in ancient India. A yojana is about 12–15 km (7.5 mi-9.3 mi). Trayastrimsa is on its peak, where Sakra (Indra:Ref) resides. The Sun and the Moon revolve around Mount Meru, and as the Sun passes behind it, it becomes nighttime. The mountain has four faces — each one made of a different material; the northern face is made of gold, the eastern one is made of crystal, the southern one is made of lapis lazuli, and the western one is made of ruby.
Buddhist cosmology describes the planes and realms in which beings can be reborn. The spatial cosmology consists of a vertical cosmology, the various planes of beings, into which beings are reborn due to their merits and development; and a horizontal cosmology, the distribution of these world-systems into an "apparently" infinite sheet of "worlds." The temporal cosmology describes the timespan of the creation and dissolvement of universes in aeons. Buddhist cosmology is also intwined with the belief of karma, and explains that the world around us is the product of past actions. As a result, some ages are filled with prosperity and peace due to common goodness, whereas other eras are filled with suffering, dishonesty and short lifespans.

Foot/Ganesh
Got caught in the snow, it came on quick, at the bridge I gently tapped the fender of a white work van. Set the 4wd lock at the light, no more trouble then except my wheel was lower and more like a gaming controller, low visibility driving by feel. Saw our cat in the street, I pulled over to get her. So skinny and lost, how did you get here? Leave the door open in dreams, you never know. Remember the snow of 2014? Weird how fast that day. No work or school for a week. The man from florida sold his house at the market peak, his son is mad at him, but that's adulthood. Find your place, make it work, or visit on a holiday. Above ground pool as a trend, you don't see it here. Get a ham. Go to a hotel if you want that. But never be in a pool when there's a beach nearby. I wish I had made it to monterey last summer. I wish had made it to whitney when I lived there. The high sierra dreams. Asgard, olympus, do you know what they mean. Meru, mtn. High mtn. Mtn mtn. Kailash. They mean we can see them. Blissed out tomorrow.

Light Offering Prayer
Composed by Lama Atisha
After lighting a candle or a butter lamp or any lights, the prayer should be recited in conjunction with the visualization.
May the light of the lamp be equal to the great three thousand worlds and their environment, May the wick of the lamp be equal to the King of Mountains – Mount Meru.
May the butter be equal to the infinite Ocean.
May there be billions of trillions of lamps in the presence of each and every Buddha.
May the light illuminate the darkness of ignorance of all sentient beings
From the peak of samsara down to the most tortuous hell,
Whereby they can see directly and clearly all the ten directions Buddhas and bodhisattvas and their pure lands.
OM VAJRA ALOKE AH HUNG
EH MA HO
TAYATHA PANTSA DRI
AWA BUDDHA NAYA SOHA
The light transforms into single brilliant five-bright-color wisdom.
On a lotus and moon disk the syllables OM and DHI appear.
Marmema
From them, one hundred and eight beautiful goddesses of light, Marmema, appear,
Wearing beautiful garments and precious garlands.
Every goddess holds lights in her hands and from them
Emanate billions of trillions of infinite replicas of light-offering goddesses, Marmema.
All of them make light offerings uninterruptedly to all the
Buddhas in the buddha fields throughout the entire space, to the peaceful and wrathful deities. Thus due to the merits of having made such a light offering
May all the benefactors, the deceased and migrating beings of the six realms benefit,
May all their degenerated samaya and broken vows be restored,
May all their superstitious obscurations be purified,
May all their bad karma, negativities and obscurations be purified,
May the three realms of samsara become empty immediately.
Please grant control, power and realization.

A bend in space-time - [Chapter 24: The seven peaks Gao Yord]
Tumblr media
[Chapter 24: The seven peaks Gao Yord] Links : AO3 - Wattpad - FFN (french version also vailable)
Fandom: The Umbrella Academy (TV) Pairing: Klaus Hargreeves / Original female character Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Summary: I wasn't really in the mood to dwell on this tattoo when Klaus came back, although I did notice this large design inspired by the heights of Mount Meru. Certainly one of the most sacred patterns in Buddhist tattooing, and - for this very reason - Granny's gaze is more rigid than ever. "Seven peaks instead of nine… Where on earth did you get that done?"
Any comment will make my day! ♡
- In this fic, I chose to inject an original character - Rin - into the plot of The Umbrella Academy season 1, from this starting point at the begining of episode 1. What if some events seen in the series were actually caused by some of Rin's actions in deleted scenes?

Baba Somanath Ji, Excerpted from, The State of Sehaj (The Natural Path)
Image: Baba Somanath, The Satguru of Baba Ram Singh. The Satguru of Baba Somanath was Hazur Baba Sawan Singh
"With their mouths, all the people in the world are repeating his name. They say, 'Ram, Ram' or 'Hari Krishan,' 'Gobind, Gobind,' - these all are names of the Lord, so everyone is repeating these names. But unless you repeat the real Naam of the Lord in your heart, it is impossible to meet the Lord. It is as if you play a record which has bhajans of the Lord on it; it will go on playing and playing but the machine does not know what bhajan it is playing, and it is not going to do any good for you. In the same way no matter how much we say with our mouths it is not going to work; unless our heart is connected with our mouth we cannot achieve anything. Even if we go on repeating the name 'Ram, Ram,' for a hundred years, still we are not going to get anything. Rare are those who do the Simran of Naam in their heart.
"Now those who have manifested Naam within themselves have also achieved liberation. So that is why he says here, 'Unless you connect yourself within, God Almighty is far away from you.' (verse from Guru Amardev Ji, Third Sikh Guru) You have a mouth and also a heart, but unless you connect your heart and mouth and do the Simran with your heart you are far away from Him." (Baba Somanath)
I make my request before the perfect Guru;
Somanath bows down, folding both his hands: “Take the souls beyond the domain of the mind.”
Otherwise, who knows what the mind may do and when it may attack.
In the blink of an eye it soars from the nether worlds to Mount Meru, the peak of Brahmand.
Who can say what byways it may frequent or where it may lure the unwary.
There is only one way to kill the mind; fix your contemplation in Satguru’s lotus feet.
Day and night go on repeating the True Name; take hold of the kernel and cast aside the chaff.
Attach your consciousness to the All-Conscious, Primal Sound Current.
-- From the Bhajan (Hymn) of Baba Somanath: Mana Ki Gati Agama Apaaraa
Bhakatana aage binati mori, name Somanaatha dou kar jori
Kisa bele yeha mana kyaa kari; pala me pataala meru shikhari
Kisa raaste bhaagaa, kaune thauraa.
Eka upaaya te mana ko maare; charana dhyaana sataguru ke dhaare
Sata Naama japa nitya uchaare; tat grahana kara chorde asaare
Chitta se cheta lago dhuna saaraa.
