Their Eating Lifestyle: Singapore Edition
Tumblr media
A/N: Just something I thought of randomly. Some people might not be able to 'relate' lol
PS. Though this can be applied to other countries too, there might be several things that are unique to Singapore!
Tumblr media
Luffy eats in hawker centers most of the time, especially this Malaysian stall near his HDB because the auntie adores him and always gives him a free extra helping of rice & a little more meat than normal customers. And of course he goes to all-you-can-eat buffets all the time - usually dragging along Ace (who gladly follows him like an overexcited puppy that he is) and Sabo (if he's not busy - which isn't often, unfortunately). And yes, those restaurants with "finish this jumbo bowl of ramen in 20 minutes and it's free"? They're super easy targets for him whenever money's tight that month!
The neverending choice of food makes Sanji eat out on almost every single one of his free days. From the hawker centers to the cafes to the hotels to the Michelin Star restaurants, from Singaporean to Chinese to Indian to Japanese to Korean to Mexican food, from cafes specializing in pancakes, ice cream, yakiniku, k-bbq, coffee, bubble tea, beer, wine - he tries it all and has a mental list in his head regarding which restaurants are good for specific circumstances.
Zoro gets lost everywhere in the city so he finds whatever shop that seemingly serves alcohol on his regular runs outdoor... And if there are a few dishes served too, then he orders that too on the side. Izakayas are his favorite. He remembers the name of the bars with a great selection of alcohol but has no idea where they are. Jinbe (because he's the most responsible of the group obviously) or Brook (he plays music at several establishments every day, so there's a chance that he'll be in the area) regularly picks him up from wherever he is (he has location services always turned on and he has several trackers on his possession) and makes sure he manages to get home safely at the end of the day. Bless them.
Nami cafe hops A WHOLE LOT. Probably has a Burpple, Chope, and Eatigo accounts and is a premium member of them all. Will always go out with reservations that give her discounts or free stuff, and use all the discount codes if there are any. Usopp sometimes joins her whenever he's working outside, especially when Nami texts him saying there's a one-for-one deal (Luffy sometimes barges in too because come on. Food and Luffy go hand in hand. This is the rare time he'll have to eat vegetables too because Nami and Usopp will unapologetically nag him to do it)
Robin loves nature & antique-themed cafes, especially those with books, is cozy, and hidden in a nook somewhere. Chopper follows her everywhere because whenever she goes it would be a good place for the aspiring doctor to study and do his homework. Robin knows his habit and will take him to the cafes with a good cup of hot chocolate (Chopper's favorite, cause he can't drink coffee) during exam periods. Franky accompanies them from time to time, though he's not the type to eat at such establishments - he's more of a coffeeshop man (yknow those loud uncles who seem to be friends with all the stall owners and know all the servers' names? That's him). Whatever food he orders, he'll have Cola on the side. If there are no cans left, he will go to the nearest convenience store to buy at least two cold cans.
Law frequents one cafe near his condo (because ofc he can afford one) for his morning coffee and another cafe near the hospital he works at for his afternoon, evening, and midnight coffee (yes, he drinks more than a cup a day). Sometimes he forgets to eat, but fortunately, Rocinante (his adoptive dad, works at a cafe a few streets down from the hospital), Penguin and Shachi (works in the same hospital), and Bepo (works in a small pet grooming shop near the hospital, which Law goes to every now and then whenever he's stressed about work) have a rotation schedule on bringing him food throughout the week.
Kid is really similar to Zoro in that he goes to all the bars and wherever that seems to sell alcohol. Though he begrudgingly goes to 'subpar' places for takeaways whenever it's his turn to procure food for his flatmates (little did he know Killer devised this schedule so Kid can get in some real food every once in a while). Every now and then Killer cooks, and since they live in the same flat along with Heat and Wire, he'll eat those too. Every single time, Kid brought all the booze (it's not like they have a secondhand fridge just for the alcohol). Every single time, it turns into a party and they'll get noise complaints from their neighbors because they party all night. RIP neighbors.

Can ya feel that? Welcome to Miami
As Will Smith would say, “party in the city where the heat is on, all night, on the beach till the break of dawn: Welcome to Miami"
Tumblr media
My quick getaway to Miami was about 4 days and it was exactly the right amount of sun and rainbows I was needing. Thank you Bruno for all your love and welcoming vibes. I’ll be definitely back before you know it! Who knew that after 13 years of friendship a boat, the sun and some Whitney Houston will encounter us in the Caribbean Sea?
BRICKELL
Where business, high-end residential buildings as well as top restaurants and rooftop clubs are. The small Singapore sample of Florida. Beautiful, clean, accesible, Brickell has it all. My highlights? When it comes to food: Quinto la Huella, a sibling location of the one found in Jose Ignacio, Uruguay and Rosetta, the Italian bakery where you get a food comma just by looking at all the goodies. When it comes to shopping, Brickell City Center is the place to go. For an afterhour quick bite, consider North Italia. For a bit of a party scene, try Barsecco, Redbar or Sugar. If the city heat is too much, try getting a day pass at Resortpass.com, and get a pool treat by the Conrad Hotel or check out Brickell Key Park.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SOUTH BEACH
Head to the beach. I repeat: get some vitamin sea. Crystal clear, warm water, with cute little fishes waiting for you to refresh yourself in between sun burns. Kick it off with a delicious açai bowl from Pura Vida and walk down to South Point. Rent a chair, a towel and an umbrella for $13 and enjoy a whole day under the sun. For a beautiful scenery walk, discover the Art Deco District down Ocean Ave. and find a delicious restaurant where to eat. If you are like me and the heat is one of the few things that doesnt make you starve, on the contrary, just makes you crave for something light and fresh, then forget the Cuban and the Mexican stands with never ending Frozen Margarita flow. Go for a Poke bowl at Koa Poke by Collins Ave instead, after discovering all the architecture, and even checking out El Espanol street, known for its restaurants and bars.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
WYNDWOOD
Heard about the Brooklyn of Miami? Well, here it is! Industrial city, warehouses, cool, gentrified buildings surrounded by an amazingly curated street art and graffiti, that goes from Bansky to Kobra, making it one of the biggest open air museum of street art in the world. “Throw me to the wolves, and I’ll come back leading the pack”, “The time is always now” and “Staying at your comfort zone will kill you” are some of the anonymous stencils and messages written on the street.
Remember to carry water with you. It is very humid and hot in Miami, specially around this neighborhood since there are little to no trees, hence no shade, and you would want to make a few pit stops to re charge your energy. Try Panther Coffee for some good coffee and drinks or go full in with Astra, the mediterranean rooftop with great salads and wifi. In comparison to NYC, I must confess the service is usually much better in Miami, specially when it comes from Latinxs, but in this case, the service wasn't Astra’s forte.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
LITTLE HAVANA
A visit to Miami wont be complete without a walk by Little Havana. Prepare your Spanish since you will have a lot of practice opportunities in Miami, specially en el barrio. Running roosters, boiling steamy streets and street art are there and just make you feel you are in Cuba. Stroll down Domino park, where locals can be found playing that board game and listening to their radios or the iconic plaza that commemorates the Cuban American Soldiers who died and got arrested during the Pig Bay and Missile Crisis, just to name a few. Celebrate this heritage with live music and a delicious happy hour mojitos at La Troval, the iconic cafe/bar by the main street, calle 8. Discover the hidden Cuban artists represented on this neighborhood murals, those featured on the local Walk of Fame and the picturesque unsung heroes that are just hanging there, beating the heat with a smile.

Most expensive cities (CNBC) Zurich and Paris have displaced Singapore and Osaka in a recent report on the world’s most expensive cities. The two Asian cities previously joined Hong Kong at the top of the rankings. That’s based on The Economist Intelligence Unit’s latest Worldwide Cost of Living index which shows how the coronavirus pandemic has affected the prices of goods and services in more than 130 cities as of September 2020. According to the report, Zurich and Paris’ jump to first place was due to the strengthening of the Swiss franc and the euro. “The Covid-19 pandemic has caused the weakening of the U.S. dollar while western European and north Asian currencies have strengthened against it, which in turn has shifted prices for goods and services,” said Upasana Dutt, head of Worldwide Cost of Living at The EIU. New York City is used as the base city in the index. The top ten: Zurich, Paris, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tel Aviv, Osaka, Geneva, New York, Copenhagen, Los Angeles.
U.S., Canada, Mexico to extend border restrictions until late December (AP) U.S. land borders with Canada and Mexico are expected to remain closed to non-essential travel until Dec. 21 at the earliest amid a rising number of U.S. coronavirus cases, officials in Washington and Ottawa told Reuters on Wednesday. Mexico’s Foreign Ministry confirmed the decision later on Wednesday in a post on Twitter. The restrictions were first put in place in March to control the spread of the virus and have been extended on a monthly basis ever since. In Ottawa, a Canadian government source said the travel restrictions in place at the Canada-U.S. land border would remain in effect for at least another month.
Recession With a Difference: Women Face Special Burden (NYT) For millions of working women, the coronavirus pandemic has delivered a rare and ruinous one-two-three punch. First, the parts of the economy that were smacked hardest and earliest by job losses were ones where women dominate—restaurants, retail businesses and health care. Then a second wave began taking out local and state government jobs, another area where women outnumber men. The third blow has, for many, been the knockout: the closing of child care centers and the shift to remote schooling. That has saddled working mothers, much more than fathers, with overwhelming household responsibilities. “We’ve never seen this before,” said Betsey Stevenson, a professor of economics and public policy at the University of Michigan and the mother of a second grader and a sixth grader. Recessions usually start by gutting the manufacturing and construction industries, where men hold most of the jobs, she said. The triple punch is not just pushing women out of jobs they held, but also preventing many from seeking new ones.
U.S. to Drop Case Against Mexican Ex-Official to Allow Inquiry in Mexico (NYT) The Justice Department has asked a federal judge to drop drug trafficking and corruption charges against a former Mexican defense minister to allow Mexican officials to investigate him, Attorney General William P. Barr announced Tuesday in an abrupt reversal a month after the official was arrested in Los Angeles. The official, Gen. Salvador Cienfuegos Zepeda, had been Mexico’s defense minister from 2012 to 2018 and was accused of taking bribes in exchange for protecting cartel leaders. But Mr. Barr and Mexico’s attorney general, Alejandro Gertz Manero, stopped short in a statement of promising any charges in Mexico. In a court filing, prosecutors acknowledged that the Trump administration had determined that preserving its relationship with Mexico prevailed over pursuing the case. “The United States has determined that sensitive and important foreign policy considerations outweigh the government’s interest in pursuing the prosecution of the defendant, under the totality of the circumstances, and therefore require dismissal of the case,” they wrote in asking a judge to dismiss the charges.
Biden’s DIY transition proceeds without Trump assistance (AP) President Donald Trump’s refusal to cooperate with his successor is forcing President-elect Joe Biden to seek unusual workarounds to prepare for the exploding public health threat and evolving national security challenges he will inherit in just nine weeks. Blocked from the official intelligence briefing traditionally afforded to incoming presidents, Biden gathered virtually on Tuesday with a collection of intelligence, defense and diplomatic experts. And as the worst pandemic in a century bears down on the U.S. with renewed ferocity, the current administration is blocking Biden from collaborating with its response team. Biden’s representatives instead plan to meet directly with pharmaceutical companies this week to determine how best to distribute at least two promising vaccines to hundreds of millions of Americans, the biggest logistical challenge to face a new president in generations. The moves reflect how Biden is adjusting to a historically tense transition. With no sign that Trump is prepared to facilitate soon a peaceful transfer of power, Biden and his team are instead working through a series of backup options to do the best they can to prepare for the challenges he will face as soon as he takes office in January.
When Trump Goes, Can the Democrats Hold It Together? (NYT) The Democratic Party is struggling with internal contradictions, as its mixed performance on Election Day makes clear. Analysts and insiders are already talking—sometimes in apocalyptic terms—about how hard it will be for Joe Biden to hold together the coalition that elected him as the 46th president. The intraparty dispute burst out full force on Nov. 5 during a three-hour House Democratic Caucus telephone meeting. Moderates angrily lashed out at liberals, accusing them of allowing divisive rhetoric such as “defund the police” and calls for socialism to go largely unchallenged. Those on the left pushed right back, accusing centrists of seeking to downgrade the demands of minorities, including those voiced at Black Lives Matter protests. Abigail Spanberger, who represents the 7th Congressional District in Virginia—which runs from the suburbs of Richmond through the exurban and rural counties in the center of the state—voiced her instantly famous critique of the liberal wing of her party during the phone call: “We have to be pretty clear about the fact that Tuesday—Nov. 3—from a congressional standpoint, was a failure,” she told her Democratic colleagues. “The number one concern that people brought to me” during the campaign “was defunding the police.” And “We need to not ever use the words ‘socialist’ or ‘socialism’ ever again because while people think it doesn’t matter, it does matter. And we lost good members because of that.” Representative Rashida Tlaib, whose Michigan district is among the poorest in the country, and who is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America—directly countered Spanberger and other moderates: “To be real, it sounds like you are saying stop pushing for what Black folks want.” Other Democrats who describe themselves as democratic socialists, including the former Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, have become a substantial Democratic constituency.
Pandemic media syndrome? (Scientific American) According to Claudia Wallis, of Scientific American, recent studies have shown that the pandemic’s toll on mental health has been even worse than experts expected, especially among young adults. Roxane Cohen Silver, a psychologist at the University of California, Irvine, found that “increased engagement with media coverage of the outbreak” is a major driver of anxiety among people of all ages. “If people are engaged with a great deal of media, they are more likely to exhibit and report distress, but that distress seems to draw them further into the media,” Silver says. “It’s a cyclical pattern from which it is difficult to extricate oneself.”
Sweden’s coronavirus strategy (Washington Post) Even Sweden appears to be abandoning the Swedish model. On Monday, the country’s authorities banned gatherings of more than eight people as they grappled with the second coronavirus wave surging through much of Europe. The new restrictions followed other protocols coming into effect this week, including protective measures around nursing homes and bans on alcohol sales at restaurants and bars after 10 p.m. The shift in tone is noteworthy given Sweden’s notorious light-touch approach to the pandemic. “It is a clear and sharp signal to every person in our country as to what applies in the future,” Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said during a news conference Monday. “Don’t go to the gym, don’t go the library, don’t have dinner out, don’t have parties—cancel!” Hospitalizations are rising faster in Sweden than any other European country, and Sweden’s per capita death rate is several times higher than those of its Nordic neighbors Finland, Denmark and Norway.
Amid pandemic, Belgrade street kids find comfort at refuge (AP) In a small, brightly-colored backstreet house in Belgrade a teenage girl is drying her hair, while two others eat lunch in the kitchen. A group of boys are having their temperatures checked at the entrance as a precaution against coronavirus. It’s another busy day for Svratiste, or Roadhouse, Belgrade’s first daily drop-in center for street kids that for years has been a rare oasis of warmth and comfort for the Serbian capital’s most vulnerable inhabitants. Since opening in 2007, Svratiste has welcomed hundreds of children—some as young as five—who have come here to warm up, wash or eat. With social isolation growing and the economic situation worsening in the pandemic, the center’s role has become even more significant. Apart from providing food and clothes, the Svratiste team has also sought to help the children socialize and get to know their town by visiting playgrounds, cinemas and theaters. A key effort has been to include them in the education system and make sure they stay. During the pandemic, the center helped with online classes that most children have no means of following. One of their success stories has been Bosko Markovic, now 18, who first came to Svratiste five years ago. With the center’s help, Markovic has finished high school and now has his eyes set on becoming a policeman, he told the Associated Press. “They (Svratiste) have made me a better person,” he said proudly.
Pompeo To Visit Israeli West Bank Settlements During Farewell Tour (Foreign Policy) U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is in Israel today as he continues his whistle-stop tour of U.S. allies. Before he heads to the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia, he is planning on making history. Pompeo will visit two Israeli settlements both considered in violation of international law, one in the Golan Heights and one in the West Bank. By doing so, he becomes the first U.S. Secretary of State to visit either site. His de facto endorsement of the Israeli occupation stands in contrast to the outgoing Obama administration’s moves in 2016, allowing passage of a United Nations Security Council resolution declaring Israeli settlements on Palestinian territory illegal by abstaining from (rather than vetoing) the vote. His visit also comes as Israel plans to expand a settlement in East Jerusalem, despite outcry from the United Nations and European Union.
Reassured by Biden Win, Palestinians Will Resume Cooperation With Israel (NYT) The Palestinian Authority said Tuesday that it was resuming its cooperation with Israel, ending six months of financial hardship for tens of thousands of West Bank residents and signaling relief over the election of Joseph R. Biden Jr. It was one of the first clear signs that anticipation of a new administration in Washington is having an effect on international relations. The Palestinian announcement undid a set of stringent measures imposed by Mahmoud Abbas, the authority’s president, in May in a desperate protest against plans by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel to unilaterally annex large portions of the occupied West Bank. The Trump administration had indicated it would support some form of annexation, which would have imposed Israeli sovereignty over land that the Palestinians have counted on for a future state. Mr. Abbas cut off security coordination with Israel, raising fears that attacks might go unprevented. He also severed civilian ties, including those that help Palestinians travel into Israel for work or medical treatment. Most painful of all to his own people, Mr. Abbas stopped accepting routine transfers of more than $100 million a month in taxes that Israel collects on the Palestinians’ behalf, funds that account for more than 60 percent of the authority’s budget. The lack of funds forced salary cuts for tens of thousands of public-sector employees, compounding what was already a devastating economic crisis because of the pandemic. “Praise God, I feel so relieved,” Rami Kitaneh, 35, a nurse at the Hugo Chavez Ophthalmic Hospital in the central West Bank, said Tuesday night. “I gave up so much since the start of the crisis, but now I can breathe.”
Security officials worry Israel and Saudi Arabia may see the end of Trump as their last chance to go to war with Iran (Business Insider) European intelligence officials are alarmed about the possibility of military action towards Iran in the waning days of the Trump administration. Concern that Trump—who has pushed for maximum pressure on Iran—or a combination of Israel or Saudi Arabia creating a military confrontation in the waning days of the administration has been a concern for over a week, according to three European intelligence officials who spoke with Insider. The news that last week the president requested a list of military options from his military and diplomatic advisors has sent these concerns into overdrive. One fear is of unilateral action by the US to force a military clash that might make it impossible for the incoming Biden administration to return to the 2015 joint nuclear agreement that traded sanctions relief on Iran for an end to its nuclear weapon programs, all three officials said. They declined to speak on the record in exchange for their candid views on the situation.
People go hungry in Ethiopia’s Tigray as conflict marches on (AP) People are going hungry in Ethiopia’s rebellious northern Tigray region as roads are blocked, airports are closed and the federal government marches on its capital in a final push to win a two-week war. “At this stage there is simply very little left, even if you have money,” according to an internal assessment by one humanitarian group, seen by The Associated Press. The assessment, based on a colleague who managed to get out, said people “will stay where they are, there is no place in Tigray where the situation is any different and they cannot cross over into the other regions of Ethiopia because of fear of what would be done to them.” For more than a week, the United Nations and other aid organizations have been warning of disaster. Long lines formed outside shops within days of the Nov. 4 announcement by Ethiopia’s Nobel Peace Prize-winning Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed that a military offensive had begun in response to an attack by Tigray regional forces on a military base. Trucks laden with food, fuel and medical supplies have been stuck outside the region’s borders. Banks in Tigray were closed for days, cutting off humanitarian cash transfers to some 1 million people. And even before the fighting, a locust outbreak had been destroying crops. Over 27,000 Ethiopians have fled into neighboring Sudan, burdening villages that have been praised for their generosity, though they have little to give.

Traveling Around The World Is One Of Life's Most Rewarding Experiences
Tumblr media
Traveling around the world and visiting different states may be among the most rewarding things someone can do in life. A tremendous amount of excitement and pleasure can be obtained by travel to a remote nation.
Getting on a plane and flying a few hours to another continent can be an experience in itself! Maybe you wish to discover the scenery of a foreign land; a train journey would make it possible for you to find a stunning view of the local landscape and town. It is also possible to travel by boat, which is equally magnificent if not even more so. Imagining boarding a boat by sea which will sail through the vent of a significant metropolis passing by historic landmarks.
Exposing yourself to new cultures and people is such an enriching experience. Assimilating with the natives of a foreign land and studying their customs and traditions will expose you to intriguing ideals and expand your horizons. You can occupy a new language, eat delicious cuisine that you never knew existed and immerse yourself into the culture.
Traveling overseas and experiencing the wonders of the world can teach you more than what you could ever read from a book, but much more so, it can teach you about yourself. To have the ability to step foot on the soil of each continent is really a special achievement that few can claim the rights to. Being able to talk about your adventures with your family and friends recounting all your journeys is among life's most gratifying and priceless feelings.
Travelling Around the World and Back Again - A List of Places to Revisit
I'm one of the lucky ones. I've already been around the world and while I did not quite manage it in 80 days such as Phileas Fogg, I did manage to spend five months with my beloved hubby visiting amazing states, meeting new friends, trying new foods, and sampling lots of fresh wines, so all in all it was quite a trip!
Travelling around the world has never been easier than it is now. A RTW flight ticket may cost as little as 900, and based on the degree of accommodation you choose, you can make your way around the planet for less than you may think. We, on the other hand, blew our budget entirely, but the memories of the four month trip doing everything and nothing, is worth more than any amount of"printed paper" as my other half calls dinero, and I would not hesitate in packing my bag and doing it all again tomorrow.
Our round the world flight ticket comprised the following flights: London - Hong Kong - Macau - Bangkok - Singapore - Perth - Sydney - Christchurch - Auckland - Fiji - Los Angles - London, and apart from the odd boat ride or short flight, we travelled across Thailand and Malaysia over property.
Thailand has its own highs and lows (like most countries) and while I possibly would not rush back to Bangkok, Phuket or Koi Samui, I'd certainly love to revisit the charming city of Chiang Mai in the north.
We seemed to consume our way through Malaysia! Delicious food on every corner, together with friendly locals and tropical warmth, made this one of our favorite Asian destinations. Penang, the Cameron Highlands and Kuala Lumpur are on the'revisit' list.
Singapore is Singapore, and as one of the cleanest, safest, friendliest nations in Asia, I can definitely see myself arriving one day... Orchard road is still calling!
Our second destination - Australia, took us into the magnificent west coast of Perth and the Coral Coast. We spent weeks finding new beaches, visiting wineries and counting Kangaroos - before heading off to discover the rest of the nation. Stopping off in places like Melbourne, Sydney, Cairns, and the Whitsunday's across the way, our seven-week remain in Australia was extremely costly, but very worth it, and if I ever win the lottery - I will return!
New Zealand is a really special place and the moment we landed in Christchurch we felt at home. Combining beautiful scenery with terrific people, and delicious fish with excellent wines, New Zealand has it all, and yes, it's already on the revisit list.
Next stop - Fiji! As I have written in previous blogs, I never dreamed I'd get to see the Fiji Islands, but see them - and they're more amazing that you could ever imagine. Waking up to the sounds of gentle waves, walking along the white sandy beaches, and snorkelling with reef sharks... I can not wait to return!
Flying over the Pacific Ocean is a strange experience. With the changing time zones, you actually arrive until you've taken off! From Fiji we headed around to Los Angeles in the good old US of A, and after a few days in Cali, we jumped onto a cruise boat.
Following a week cruising across the Mexican Riviera, we headed off to Las Vegas for our final week of insanity before return home and back to reality. We make almost an yearly pilgrimage to Vegas, so that's definitely on the revisit list (oh yes, and so is Mexico!) .
Two or three year previous to our round the world tour we spent 10 weeks traveling South America, and lived nearly two years in South Africa, so we've seen enormous amounts of this gorgeous world, but now I find my'revisit' list is nearly as long as my'to see' list.
Well, I'm not quite 40 yet, and they say that is when life actually starts, so perhaps this was only a practice run? Around the World and back again - I suppose I'd better get on with it!

How To Make Hot Sauce [SPICY RECIPE]
Tumblr media
This guide will show you how to make hot sauces of various sorts, including numerous plans and tips, aging data, protecting hot sauce, and how to begin a hot sauce business.
The fame of hot sauce in the United States has detonated over the most recent twenty years, and it gives no indications of easing back down. What used to be a market commanded by just a couple of hot sauce alternatives with fascinating periphery hot sauces is currently a market loaded up with a brilliant determination of hot sauces for purchasers.
Custom made Buffalo Sauce
Gone are the times of a solitary brand or two filling the hot sauce racks.
As I run a nourishment blog committed to hot food sources just as bean stew peppers, I get messages and remarks constantly identified with making hot sauces. Individuals need to realize how to make them at home. A few people need to figure out how to take their hot sauce making leisure activity and transform it into a business.
I have a great deal of hot sauce plans on the site here, however needed to add to my developing formula assortment some data on the most proficient method to make hot sauces all in all.
I will consistently refresh this page with data as I obtain it, however for the time being, we should discuss making your own hot sauces at home. Everything begins with a basic fixing – bean stew peppers.
Bean stew PEPPERS AND HOT SAUCE
Bean stew peppers are basic to such a significant number of cooking styles the world over. Frequently that stew pepper flavor, zest and in some cases heat gets synonymous with a specific culture. Bean stew peppers ooze appeal and a persona that is at the same time fascinating and down-home, and without them we wouldn't have a portion of our preferred dishes and toppings, one specifically that is near my heart – HOT SAUCE.
I delighted in hot sauce as a child, yet didn't find the wide universe of craftsman hot sauces until a ways into my twenties. As of late wedded, I got keen on cooking and my hunger for zesty nourishment was in full sprout.
I discovered some remarkable hot sauces with the craziest marks, some of them genuine, some of them clever, driving through them by the case, and immediately got keen on making my own.
There is a touch of a craftsmanship to making hot sauces, yet is anything but a troublesome activity. It is for the most part about joining stew peppers with different fixings to accomplish a specific flavor.
HISTORY OF HOT SAUCE
History of Hot Sauce
Bean stew peppers have been gathered for a huge number of years, and it is realized that when Columbus arrived in Haiti and the Dominican Republic in 1492, he found the Arawak individuals utilizing peppers widely. They protected meats with peppers and cooked them into pretty much every feast.
The principal notice for a business hot sauce in the United States is by all accounts in Massachusetts in 1807 by a rancher for a cayenne sauce.
It was Edmund McIlhenny, an investor from New Orleans who promoted hot sauce in the American culture. He matured Tabasco peppers and matured them, stressed and blended them in with vinegar, and started to offer it to nearby markets.
McIlhenny's sauce on the grounds that the well known "Tabasco" hot sauce that we know today.
Motivations TO MAKE HOT SAUCE AT HOME
I began making hot sauces at home since I had become hopelessly enamored with a large number of the craftsman hot sauces out there, yet at times couldn't discover them, and I needed to explore different avenues regarding various flavors.
At the point when you make your own hot sauce at home, you are allowed to consolidate whatever fixings that please you. Likewise, you're allowed to accentuate specific flavors that different sauces don't offer, for example, more superhot stew peppers or a bunch that centers intensely around natural product. Along these lines, making your own hot sauce promises it will be special.
IT'S ALSO INCREDIBLY FUN AND SATISFYING.
I appreciate investing energy in the kitchen, concocting clumps of hot sauce, and it fulfills me when I finish another bunch, newly packaged. I set them into my fridge with a feeling of bliss realizing that I will have another hot sauce for quite a long time to come.
Making hot sauce is additionally an incredible method to protect your bean stew pepper reap. I grow a decent estimated pepper garden every year and keeping in mind that I cook with and protect them from numerous points of view, I still can't seem to discover a bean stew pepper that can't be made into a brilliant hot sauce.
Indeed, even gentle peppers can make delightful sauces.
Perceive How to Preserve Chili Peppers for additional data.
Sorts OF HOT SAUCES
Sorts of Hot Sauce
I've never observed a conclusive rundown of hot sauce types, as I don't might suspect a rundown of such exists, however hot sauces do change from area to locale. There are various procedures to making hot sauces, as well, yet it generally is by all accounts a local variety dependent on territorial fixings, which you'll see reflected in this rundown.
Hot sauce has innumerable varieties, for example, the consistency of the peppers, the planning of the peppers (matured, new, dried, broiled, dish cooked) the real sorts of peppers utilized in the hot sauce, the utilization of different fixings and then some.
The most essential division with hot sauces is whether the peppers are mixed with different fixings. Now and again they are, some of the time they are definitely not.
HERE IS A LIST OF POPULAR HOT SAUCE TYPES:
Louisiana Style – This hot sauce, advanced by hot sauces like "Tabasco" and "Precious stone", is made with new or aged peppers that are crushed with salt and vinegar. I make a great deal of hot sauces thusly, with both new and matured peppers.
Caribbean Style – Usually made with red hot habaneros or Scotch Bonnet peppers, these sauces fluctuate fiercely on account of the various culinary impacts in the region. You'll discover hot sauces with African impact, and others with French impact close by, just as Indian impact and then some. The fixings mirror this.
Hawaiian Style – Hawaiian hot sauce, or "Hawaiian Chili Pepper Water", is normally a blend of nearby stew peppers, garlic, ginger, a touch of vinegar however for the most part water, among other potential fixings. It is sprinkled over everything. It is suggestive of the renowned "Puerto Rican Hot Sauce – Pique".
American Southwest – You'll discover numerous gritty fixings with thick walled New Mexican peppers, either new or dried, with next to no utilization of vinegar. In New Mexico specifically, they present "red" or "green" stew sauce throughout the entire year.
Mexican Style – You'll see a great deal of hybrid from Mexican cooking and the American Southwest and Tex-Mex food. These hot sauces are made with heaps of smoked or potentially dried cases just as nearby fixings. They as a rule center more around enhance and less on heat.
South American – Here you'll locate some fascinating and tasty hot sauces, from Peruvian Aji Amarillo sauce to Chilean Pebre (herb and oil based with peppers) to Molho de Pimento (peppers and vinegar), and many, some more.
Asian Style – Asia is a colossal region with a various societies, so it is hard to portray their hot sauce all things considered, however numerous Asian hot sauces and sauces are thick and utilized as bean stew glues or stew oils.
In Thailand, Sriracha Hot Sauce is the most popular, made essentially with ground chilies, garlic, vinegar, sugar, and salt. In Korea, Gochujang is very well known, produced using bean stew powder and matured glutinous rice.
Sambal – enormously famous in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore – is the conventional term for nearby bean stew pepper sauces and hot sauces. They shift in heat level and in fixings utilized.
Center Eastern Style – Chili peppers are well known for sauces in the Middle East with sauces, for example, Harissa (a tasty bean stew glue), Muhamarra (a hot pepper plunge), Shatta (a thick pepper sauce), and Zhug (a herb and oil based sauce with peppers), with kinds of Middle Eastern flavors.
African – the most well known African hot sauce is Peri Sauce, which is produced using African Bird's Eye bean stew peppers. It is thick and tasty with a decent degree of warmth.
Indian Style – India is notable for parcel of flavors, and use them in chutney and general ordinary sauces and plunges.
European Style – I've experienced Hungarian Hot Paprika just as Ajvar (articulated "eye-var" – smoky cooked red peppers with now and then eggplant), which is a Balkan sauce. It is increasingly similar to a spread. There is an exceptionally hot form, call Lutenica (otherwise known as "Ljutenica" – "Luto" signifies "hot"), made with peppers, carrots, garlic, oil, sugar, salt, tomatoes, and now and then eggplant, however understandings exist from district to area.
There is additionally Hungarian "Eros Pista" (Hungry Steven), made basically of minced paprika peppers and salt. Spain cooks with a ton of peppers and a portion of their hot sauces incorporate Samfaina (like a French ratatouille), Sofrito (peppers with tomato, garlic, onions and oil) and Mojos (herb and oil based with peppers, some of the time). Italy has hot sauces, for example, the acclaimed Diavalo sauce, made with fiery bean stew chips or peppers.
Superhot Style – There is a great deal of hybrid between different styles of hot sauces, yet these hot sauces are constantly made with superhot bean stew peppers, those that are 1 Million Scoville Heat Units or more, similar to the phantom pepper, scorpion peppers, 7 pots and the Carolina Reaper, which is the most sizzling bean stew pepper on the planet as of now.
Once more, this isn't a comprehensive rundown, as I could incorporate various kinds of sauces, stew oils and the sky is the limit from there, so for the inquisitive disapproved, I propose following the peppers into different pieces of the world and find what local people are cooking.
You'll in actuality find some intriguing hot sauces made with neighborhood fixings.
Common HOT SAUCE INGREDIENTS
Hot Sauce Ingredients
At its most fundamental structure, hot sauce is regularly a blend of bean stew peppers and a fluid, for example, vinegar, citrus, or even water. You can combine those two and you have yourself a hot sauce. Will it be extraordinary? Perhaps. Would it be able to be better? Obviously.

Mandala Club Presents Gaggan Anand
If you have ever watched Netflix’s Chef’s Table, you must be familiar with the story of Gaggan Anand and his namesake restaurant which had been voted No.1 in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants a record four times from 2015-2018. Since we cannot travel to Bangkok to experience his culinary creations, the next best thing is to visit his pop-up restaurant in Singapore at The Mandala Club.
Tumblr media
Once seated inside the restaurant, we were presented with our very own culinary passport to record our 12-course lunch journey using a collection of colorful emoji stickers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With drinks served and appetites whipped, we were ready for our 1st heavy hitter of the day - the famous gastronomical “Yogurt Explosion” which is synonymous with the “Gaggan Experience”.
Tumblr media
Each curry yolk of yogurt is served on a crispy lotus leaf which crackles and pops as we hurry to take a quick shot before popping it into our mouths for a bombardment of flavors and texture.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As we try to recover from the surprising starter, the second dish arrives in the form of soft pillowy idli which is Gaggan’s take on an Indian breakfast favorite.
Tumblr media
And what goes well with breakfast? A serving of coffee and kaya toast which is reinterpreted by Gaggan as egg white meringue sandwiched with kaya and foie gras containing hints of coffee. This version of kaya toast might be the second best that I have savored next to Restaurant Labyrinth.
Tumblr media
With breakfast satisfied, it is time to move on to snacks as we were presented with the most sinful version yet - Ganddala Bar filled with crispy salted egg. Though small, it packs a punch and leaves you smiling from ear to ear.
Tumblr media
Moving onto the main courses, the first entry is a kind of deconstructed curry which allowed us to appreciate each individual ingredient that went into our dish before mixing it up and savoring it. Each component on the dish worked well with the scallop and coconut to create a harmonious melody on your palate.
Tumblr media
After a quick break, it was back to the dining table with our piece of black gold - a lump of black charcoal filled with the treasures of the sea, anago, paired with the “food of the gods”, chocolate, which serves to temper the strong flavors of the salt-water eel. The round treasure chest sits on top of a Mexican mole sauce, enriching the layers of cocoa in the dish. It is a masterpiece of the night and exemplifies the creativity and innovation of Gaggan.
Tumblr media
Coming to the middle of the lunch menu, the pace slowed down a notch as we sample a warm comforting bowl of porridge consisting of a sweet and sour broth with a mixture of greens. It was an interesting way to cleanse our palate to prepare for the next trio of strongly flavored dishes.
Tumblr media
Next two dishes features the duck as the main star with the first dish comprising of shredded duck leg served on a fluffy airy dosai and the second dish comprising of dry-aged duck breast. Both dishes are intense and delicious though it could not match the culinary heights of the masterful lump of charcoal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the last main of the day, we were surprised to see a claypot of fried noodles which has the honor of being the first fried noodles dish created by Gaggan. It is reminiscent of the carbohydrates filler served during Chinese weddings, and this dish is no different. Though delicious, it did not really match my expectations and the restaurant might want to consider elevating this dish further for future dining sessions.
Tumblr media
For desserts, crispy snowman and hay ice cream were served to satisfy our sweet tooth. Both desserts helped us to forget the earlier lacklustre fried noodles dish, and we were pleasantly surprised by the layers of texture and flavors.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a special treat, we were served with a bonus dessert which is a mini “birthday” cake filled with little hearts. It was simply icing on the cake for our lunch date.
Tumblr media
So for the big question as always: Was it worth it? Did this pop-up restaurant live up to the fame of Gaggan?
In my opinion, The Mandala Club is helping to promote the culinary vision of Gaggan to Singapore diners and the pop-up experience is a great introduction to the skills and creativity of the chef. With global travel restrictions still in place, It is the next best opportunity to dine with Gaggan and it is worth the price of entry to satisfy your curiosity after watching him in action on your television screen.
Mandala Club Presents Gaggan Anand will be in Singapore till 31st March 2022. Book early and get ready to experience the Chef’s Table!
