My Hero Academia: Rewritten Sparks

Mild Spoilers Ahead

It follows the story of Izuku as he finds himself reliving his life all over again after dying at the hands of All for One. But he notices that things are different than before. From Bakugou being friendly with him to his homeroom teacher suddenly having an eccentric personality.

And it's all thanks to this mysterious entity that revived him. But that's not the only thing that's changed. Izuku suddenly has his own quirk. Sort of.

The mysterious entity knew that Izuku couldn’t face All for One again without an ace up his sleeve, so it decided to give him one.

In the form of a Zhao. A quirk that manifests in 5% of the Earth’s population and is based on the interests, dreams, aspirations, etc. of its user. The mysterious entity created Zhaos using the Illuminating Spark, an ancient relic known to shape worlds like Izuku’s in different ways.

Unfortunately for the entity, the Illuminating Spark seemed to have disappeared in Izuku’s new world, resulting in an unstable power balance.

With the help of a team of new yet familiar faces, Izuku must find the Illuminating Spark and stop All for One from finding it.

Quirk Explanation: Voice allows Sunny to manipulate the volume, pitch, bass, and frequency of her voice. She uses her quirk to help calm kids down with soothing melodies or to incapacitate villains with painful wails.

Zhao: Cockatiel

Zhao Explanation: Cockatiel gives Sunny the physical attributes and instincts of a cockatiel. She can summon her wings at will and fly in the air. Whenever she uses her Zhao, the tips of her hair gain a gray and white ombre at the tips.

Personality: Sunny is nothing like her past self. While she's just as bright and outgoing as Mic, Sunny's mostly shy and introverted. She mainly keeps to herself unless she needs to say something important. Sunny is great with kids and is happy to help a child in need. She's also overprotective when it comes to a kid's safety, to the point where she goes feral on anyone who abuses a child.

Backstory: Sunny is well known in Japan under her hero title. From singing songs with her band to saving innocent children from villain attacks. It's no wonder why she's almost as popular as One Almighty Star. But underneath that bubbly persona, Sunny is a nervous wreck of a man. She isn't great at speaking her mind and gets flustered easily. She's the only one in the group that doesn't remember her past life's memories. She only gains memories after events happen in front of her. She does remember the previous timeline and being Present Mic, but specific details are a blur. As she teams up with Izuku and Co., Sunny tries to look more into her past, which unveils a dark conspiracy behind Mic's death.

deku is an elementary school teacher (just like ayano) and is married to tsuyu

they at first don't recognize each other because LOOK IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE THEY MET EACH OTHER and deku used to wear glasses. he got laser eye surgery not too long ago though so he doesn't wear glasses anymore. also they're like in their 30s

deku is the first to recognize kacchan though because, i mean, of course he would! he's kacchan! but probably after the alcohol wears off or begins to wear off and they chat a bit and realize they have a lot of memories in common...

deku will still be the first to kiss, but kacchan is the one who asks

I love characters who don't normally interact interacting. Also, I realized recently the scribbles underneath are their bodies. I honestly thought they were like the neck, half drawn shoulders, the beginning of their shirts and then it stopped there, but no. It's tiny scribbles of their bodies. Hori CANNOT draw chibi. And so this makes me laugh too sdnfsdnifks

Again, Hori's love of background characters shining through. For me, it's not so much the info itself as it is the fact that Hori literally dedicated an entire page to explaining News Reporter Backstory

I remember this being the first sketch of Tomura I saw for a volume extra, so I really like it. The translation for this one is Tomura saying "Hooray." with a serious face lol

MON CHAN PAWS

I laugh every time I see this one. The translation coming from the plane is "You forgot your parachute!" and Best Jeanist jumps out saying "Unnecessary!". Hori can be really fucking funny

This one and the symbolism behind it, since it was in the volume where Bakugou pushes Izuku aside and gets stabbed. I tend to think of it as a less intense version of that one Volume 30 cover concept Hori shared, but with the same symbolism. It still has me head-in-hands anyway and I love the meaning behind it

I just want to say thank you for the time and care you have put towards analyzing Dabi/Touya. Even though I have always been invested in his character ever since the day I stumbled on MHA thanks to the captivating Volume 30 cover, for a while, I had many conflicting thoughts/emotions about Dabi I could not sort through on my own. Your writing has helped me better understand these nuances and appreciate the beauty of his character.

I have not drawn anything for a quite a while, but today is Dabi/Touya's birthday so I figured I should dress him up in something nice. I hope the drawing lightens up your day, as it does for me.

p/s: It is late in the night so my language is getting weird:') But I won't have time during the day tomorrow so I tried my best to write to you now.

Dabi's a fairly complex character so I totally get where you're coming from. When I first started the manga, tt took me a while too to get a cohesive read on him :') But that's what makes him so interesting, isn't it?

Anyway, gosh, that fanart looks amazing!! You said it's been a while since you last drew something, but you def don't look rusty to me! Your style is really pretty and I'm loving the vibes of this piece :') I think Dabi's one of the few characters in the cast who can pul off almost any outfit, and I can see now that definitely applies to cute bunny shirts too ahah

I might try to do the 10 manga challenge again this month because I kinda of want to re-read everything before putting them onto the new shelf [Partly because I want to see which ones I'd like to keep or which ones I'm not all that interested in anymore.]

So far I've read five. So it might be better to make it a 20 or 30-book challenge because one week in and I'm already halfway done. Either way, the main goal is to still read through at least ten.

The five I've gone through are the entire set of .hack//Legend of the Twilight, one volume of AzuManga Daioh, and In Another World With My Smartphone. I'm thinking of getting rid of Legend because I don't think I'll really want to read it again. Not because of the story or anything but because it's an old manga and the formatting sucked. Some text I couldn't read without nearly breaking some spines of the books.

[In total there might be roughly 150 books. Not an exact number but its an estimate. What I find crazy is that a third of that is just my MHA collection.]

Do you have any other favorite MHA volumes? Vol 24 My Villain Academia is probably one of the my top ones. I think that was the first volume that I read that I had no idea what was going to happen and it just blew me away, especially with that cliffhanger at the end. I'm very happy that I had the next volume next to me (Tomura Shigariki Origin). I also love Vol 16 Red Riot cuz well, Kirishima.

WE HAVE THE SAME FAV VOLUMES, except 4 red riot (love kiri tho), before vol 30 dropped my fav was vol 24. vol 25 has one of my fav covers ever. just like u i didn't know what to expect and i was like 🤯🤯 the whole time
