My attempt at explaining why EMS works and why swapping eyes won't help

Ok it always bothered me bc like there's no way it'd cure myopia just by swapping eyes so I decided to try to understand it. And yeah i reject swapping eyes bc that wasn't the point of EMS in canon, it was meant to be a sacrifice and a tragedy.

As we know, Mangekyo Sharingan (MS) has 2 problems: bad eyesight when not using sharingan and painful eye bleeding.

I hc that MS bleeds so much, bc in order to activate it, the user pushes much more chakra into their eyes and it creates very high blood pressure there. Pushing so much chakra into his eyes also worsens the cornea which affects the vision. They basically speedrun myopia.

So how EMS fix it? 

For EMS to work they take not the whole eye, but only donor's eye's cornea, iris and anterior chamber, where by my hcs are chakra channels for the sharingan. Uchiha's eyes are stuffed with chakra channels. Same with Hyuuga, its went down from Otsutsuki's eyes.

So they take this (marked with yellow) part and basically slap onto the old eye, basically fusing these two areas. It somehow works, cuz in no way that would work for any normal human. But they're shinobi and Uchiha, who are direct descendants of an alien princess, that's already not really normal human.

Ok so, how then this procedure really works? Basically, with fused cornea it solves the problems

Fixes myopia. Like check out how lasik works, its pretty similar.

Eye bleeding. New cornea gives the old eye more chakra channels and it helps to redistribute the strain of the chakra pressure enough for the eye not to strain so much so no bleeding.

Adds new powers because of some chakra that was left in the anterior chamber + new cool MS pattern bc it's basically iris on iris situation.

Oh and btw, i think its pretty obvious why it should be siblings, mostly bc it's way less of a chance for transplant to get rejected.

Rock’s AU design is finished, he's got a profile under the cut :)

Rock Light / Mega Man:

Construction Purpose: Rock was built for housework and lab assistance after Light was severely injured in the 28/XX incident. After the first Wily Takeover, his fabricator was altered for combat, and his house duties fell to Roll.

Biggest Strength: He knows exactly what he fights for, and why.

Biggest Flaw: He tends to lose sight of himself in battle, focusing solely on his motivations regardless of what happens to him.

Weaknesses: His armour is built to withstand a variety of situations, but his Helper Unit origin makes him particularly susceptible to high voltage attacks.

Battle Style: Rock tries to be diplomatic and tactical about fighting, trying to talk his opponent down until the last possible moment. If talking isn’t an option, he likes to get things done as quickly and painlessly as he can. After all the battles he's fought, he's gotten quite good at spotting the weaknesses of Wily's robots.

Misc Notes:

Due to a malfunction in his colour changing software, the bottom of Rock’s hair has permanently turned blue-black.

He’s a very avid scrap-booker.

He stopped attending school in person after becoming Mega Man. Too much attention.

After Light became more self sufficient again, Rock started helping design the Robot Master’s cosmetics instead of helping to build them.

He gets along well with all the Light Numbers, but he’s closest with Cut Man.

The rollerblades aren’t retractable. He’s just that good on skates.

Despite insisting he doesn’t see any of the Wily bots as rivals, he actually does. It’s Top Man.

Even though he doesn’t really enjoy being Mega Man, he does like that people see him as a hero.

Roll built him, technically as a birthday present for Rock.

He’s a based on a border collie.

He was built from the broken pieces of item 1, 2 and 3, whilst Rock was recovering from his battles with Wily’s first numbers.

His serial number stands for Light Companion Number.

Hey, just wanted to reach out to say that I found you pointing out and calling this person was really great and you shouldn't have apologized. It was incredibly true what you said, and to be honest it seems out of touch with the reality of a great deal of the japanese fandom, the nuances and their culture. Also, it was as you pointed out, extreme and may I say rude. I want to mention too that the way it was written, as if entitled of the knowledge and the 'explanation' made it all worse in context of the 'fucked up'. The original poster always gets away by using the 'well-written academic'' statement of their 'metas' as an excuse to do or say and make everyone else agree and if not, uses victim narrative and discourses exactly selecting wording for people to agree on it or feel bad.

I don't know if they tagging you in the way they did made you reblog and apologizing/backing up, but no one thought bad about you pointing it out. On the contrary, a lot of people had been bullied and discriminated by this person when they called them out/disagreed going onto lenghts of sending their friends to harass people, and the other persons can't even defend themselves because they are effectively blocked. To quite a few people in the fandom has been done, even accusing them as 'acephobes' (when they're not) or even Nazis by spreading lies. So yeah, I just wanted to say that. I think you were right to call them out publicly.

Thank you very much for this ask. To be completely honest I agree with everything you said here and don't actually feel bad about pointing anything out. I mainly apologised because I didn't want any potentially poor phrasing from my side to cause unnecessary hostility and because I myself have gripes with this person's behaviour but didn't want to cause a scene.

My honest opinion is that they have a serious issue with taking accountability for their own mistakes and highly overestimate their own intellect. If you're reading this, @thegirlwhorideslikeasamurai, sorry if I seem harsh, but it's true. I saw your post lamenting how you're the only academic meta writer / fan in the fandom and I didn't interact then because I honestly do not care enough to start that drama but with the information Blonndiec has just given me, I think it's necessary that someone calls you out.

You're not an academic. You're not beyond the mental capabilities of other fans. You're actually incredibly childish in your metas and analyses and I am not kidding when I say that I was halfheartedly writing essays more academic than every analysis I've seen from you when I was barely a teenager. I don't know how old you are and I frankly don't care. You're not as clever as you think you are.

Also, don't think I didn't notice that you didn't reblog my correction (link here to my correction and here to their "response" for those who didn't see that exchange) of your post so that you could control what your followers saw of the exchange. You're the opposite of an academic. You control information to tailor the narrative, you don't cite your sources properly if at all, you don't format your posts in anything close to how an academic analysis would be, you make unbased claims, you reference posts and canon material without in any way indicating where that information is from, you reference your own (equally unacademic) metas and your conclusions from them without indicating what post it's from or that it's your own theory this new one is based on and instead present it as a common fact, and I could go on and on and on. Your posts are also riddled with logical fallacies and you talk in absolutes and opinions when there's no canon basis to claim such things. I'm sorry, but that's not academic in the slightest.

To be clear, you don't have to be an academic to post on the Internet. You don't have to be anything at all. You could up front be a genuine idiot with no remorse and that's fine. But when you claim to be an academic and also put down the rest of the fandom for not being on your level, you have to be able to back that up. It'd still make you sound like a prick but at least your arrogance would have a basis. It currently does not.

I haven't personally seen the discussions that Blonndiec is referencing and I'm not going to claim anything definitive (because that would be unacademic of me, take notes) but if what they're saying is true and did happen as described, which I have empirical, if anecdotal, evidence to believe could very well be (a friend of mine has personally been blocked by you after they criticised you without actually mentioning your name which I of course can't prove is the reason for the block but the timing is awfully convenient), you should know that you should be ashamed of yourself.

If there's context missing, feel free to enlighten me and call out any incorrect accusations. You have every right to defend yourself. However, I encourage you to cite your sources since you're such an academic. If you don't, then it's just your word against Blonndiec and anyone else who might comment's word and that doesn't prove anything. Don't misunderstand, acephobia and nazi rhetoric should absolutely be called out but only if it's actually happening. False accusations can ruin lives. I hope you know that.

I'm not a fan of calling people out publicly and, again, thank you for this ask, Blonndiec. But considering many of the issues I've personally seen and those I've been informed of by second hand sources were posted publically, I don't really feel bad about calling this out. I could do a full breakdown of just the insulting "academic" comments alone and how there's no academia to be found in said academic metas and, Samurai, if you give me reason to, I will show exactly what I mean point by point (and academically just to give you an example of even low level academia).

If you respond to this, do it in a reblog. That's what a real academic would do. If I'm wrong and you can prove it, you'd have no reason to not show my post in your rebuttal. If I'm right, you'd have every reason to be upfront about your mistakes and how you intend to rectify them. There's nothing wrong with being wrong but there's a lot wrong with refusing to admit to it in a way that lets others peer review you (academic thing, look it up) and come to their own conclusions about the situation. That's what you did when you just @'ed me instead of reblogging my response. A true academic wouldn't hide a peer review. You'd know that if you were one.

I promise you that you will not get arrested for changing your mind y'all. You can GROW and and rethink some of your past actions! Its normal, it happens. Easier said than done but you really don't need to publicly shame yourself for thinking a certain way. I get how internet culture has us overexplaining literally anything we do but you owe no one but yourself justification. It's okay to breathe and say yeah that probably wasn't a great way to think, change and move on 😭

Its so easy to go down the rabbit hole and turn a growing moment to a "I'm a horrible no good human being that deserves the worst things imaginable". Not saying that you're exempt from taking responsibility for your actions if they harmed other people but there are other ways of going about it that don't involve beating yourself up.

There's a post going around and I'm not gonna speak on it, but some people who really aren't the target audience are taking the brunt of it all and rethinking themselves as a human and I'm there like oh! WIP Word Game!

Always love a tag, and I seriously appreciate it @caffeinatedmunchkin (and also @ollypopwrites because this is the actual game you had tagged me in before). Alright here we go. I’m letting myself be messy here.

Rules:

You will be given a word. Then you share one sentence/excerpt from your WIP(s) that start with each letter of your word.

I’m breaking the rules and giving you ‘cut content’. I’m toiling over wips in a weird way. I don’t know how else to let some of this see light of day and I’m taking the opportunity to make this what I want. Because these are fun…uh, character studies? These are bits I want to get at, these are things that are true and real for the characters, but I don’t know if I’ll ever have time to flesh it out. They all need editing okay but have fun, here is some writing process, these are all technically 'wips'. You could say they are different stages of stories or scenes. S - is from Nevarran Noble Anatomy, currently dropped shortfic A - is a pulled paragraph from post-epilogue I'm still looking at T - is a silly I - is a look at a dialogue first draft N - is a flowy first draft.

“See that ya shits? The fuck you think might happen if dead tissue gets in there hmmm? You gonna explain that one to dear old Professor ‘I’m not taking more than ten students’ Volkarin that you killed his lover?” Rook’s entire body went red. “Think that’ll help ya make the list?” the botanist was snapping and pointing her fingers, “Yeah and you! I know your family is gonna have a goddamn inheritance war if you can’t find a competent corpse whisper. Mother’s knickers. Idiots.” “Well he can’t be more than a paramour. A proper Nevarran Necromancer would never fail to lavish a lover.” The noble’s jangling limbs gestured to the bare arms of the Warden, smirk on his face as he sneered towards Emmrich. Rook hopped off the examination table with a heavy thump, slammed that muscled weight down, and strode over to that noble. Spit on his shoe. Locked eyes on the shocked countenance before him as he hissed out a, “Hey, darling dearest heart, can I have a knife back. Please. Time for the practical demonstration. I can show where to stab so he’ll live.” “Rook, I think it’s time we took our leave.” Emmrich finally spoke, voice hushed. Rook leaned forward and grinned wide, “I don’t wear rings for a reason, want to see why?” Smile too wide the Warden extended his hand as if in greeting. The laborious movement drew the eye. Bent, bruised, one could tell numerous bones had healed incorrectly. Movements were stiff, cracking, fresh cuts and life long calluses ran the surface. Menacing. It held an air of strength that promised instant injury if the brat dared lay his own there. Emmrich paused overlong. Mind reeling. Rook didn’t know it, but he faced someone with royal connections. And the necromancer knew that stance, this silence. The gathered Nevarrans might think it acting, bravado. But Rook was still. Quiet. Loose. Every nerve primed for movement. He’d kill that man. And for a moment…Emmrich considered letting that happen. Rook didn’t need the knives. Normally the Warden was kind, de-escalating, talking things out if possible. But the moment a threat appeared he removed it. Mercilessly. And Rook wasn’t wrong, a man such as this would be a threat. But only alone, only if Emmrich were to disappear. This was no trouble, this was a fight won by Professor Volkarin long ago. Emmrich smiled pleasantly and swept in between them, back to the student, took hold of Rook’s outstretched hand in both of his, gave it a gentle squeeze, raised it to his lips and held it there as he cooled the Warden’s gaze in the depths of his longing stare. “You needn’t sully your hands darling.” Emmrich spoke slow into the knuckles. One would think the room had emptied but for the two of them. The professor dropped their hands from his lips, twined his fingers with Rooks, and held firm as he drew the rogue away with a gentle pull, “Come, we have a reservation to make.” Smiling dumb Rook let himself be taken away, threw a bright laugh at the noble over his shoulder. “Ooh, those undead cooks again?” “If you desire it dearest.” And they were gone. Rook forgot his shirt.

All Rook’s build. Close as possible. Venatori freshly caught. Spaces of the Necropolis were his alone. The peers that dubbed him ‘young Volkarin’ would be the only few that could check, possibly even see. And their attentions were elsewhere for decades. He could keep them here alive. Long as their lives might permit. Had to remain alive. Material. Simple reagents. The shift in Emmrich’s mind came crashing. He’d saved these men. Had saved many in the chaos of the aftermath. They would be dead without him. The moments of life left were owed.

“Turlum!!” Rook throws a truffle at Davrin, and with a squawk and a ‘dammit Rook’ Davrin never gets to finish the joke he started as he’s smothered in a rush of fur and feathers.

“It…it’s that, but Emmrich it’s mostly not. I’m worried about you.” -this is Harding- “And Rook.” -taash- “And Rook. But Emmrich look at where we’re at. Why did you want to go to the Deep Roads?” “You’re a bad liar” -taash shrug- “Taash, not helping. But they're right. You’re studying the Blight aren’t you?” “And what of it? I’m researching a cure. Harding. It’s changed. Who knows what it will be tomorrow, someone must endeavor to understand it.” -Emmrich- “Should that someone be you? You might be too close. Maybe…maybe just enjoy what you got with Rook now? And if that blight stuff ever changes I’m sure you’ll figure it out.”

Night never really came to the Lighthouse. The name alone forbid it. Yet dusk arrived. The pots and pans washed and returned, baths steaming but empty, and the warmth of quiet wrapped the near atmosphere. Rook sat on the floor of Emmrich’s study. Cross legged and hunched on a plush rug before the fire, book propped by a pillow before him. The rug was relatively new. Rook had protested. Floor’s fine! I’ve called worse a bed. Sincerity rang in laughter and a chair sat empty across the room so it must be a preference. But Emmrich had taken it upon himself to see to some comforts. Smiled soft from his desk now as he peered up to see it in use. Recalled it’s christening. Oh pretty! Boots had gone flying the first time Rook spotted it, clothes nearly followed but quick words halted the excess, Emmrich, it was a long day in Arlathan, I don’t want to get twigs in it. Emmrich had ‘nearly’ rolled his eyes at that one. Taken Rook by the shoulders and pushed him to it. Darling, I’m a mage, tidying the thing is a triviality. Please. Rook needed no further encouragement, spun in Emmrich’s hands, placed a peck on his nose, and fell back starfished onto the rug. Landed with a loud thud. Barefoot, grinning, and stretching like a mabari in the mud the rogue sank into the fine fibers sighing. That had been some weeks ago. A few pillows and stacks of books surrounded it now. Rook’s back warmed by the fireplace, furrowed brow visible to Emmrich at his desk. The Warden snorted, almost a laugh, shook his head, brow smoothed and smirking he turned the page. “An error darling?” “Hmm?” Rook didn’t catch it at first. Mind taking a moment to shift from realm of reading thought to listening ear. Blinked as those warm round eyes flicked up to the necromancer. “Oh!” It clicked then and Rook chuckled. “It’s entertaining, but they talk too much in the fights.”

as someone who isnt super excited for sotm for certain reasons I am really glad that like. it's clear that since ruin theyve been setting up for carnival and sotm IS carnival. so now that carnival is finally coming out, afterwards theyll be moving on to other plotlines since the main villain stuff is sorted out

I'm just rlly happy to finally see a clear direction for how the story is gonna be playing out with like "okay these games were leading up to this so after this will be open possibilites" instead of like. absolutely no info about each upcoming game and being left guessing before it releases and just having to wait and see what's in it and if anything you're looking forward to will be in it

it feels like they have a plan and a solid direction for what they're trying to do and after carnival releases thatll be all that buildup coming to fruition. & we already know from the Scott interview that theres another release 'beyond sotm' that's 'super exciting' so maybe thatll be focusing on another big currently untouched (which is basically all of them) plotline, or even the big campaign game that dawko has been calling security breach 2

1.) Do they have a job?

None* of my ocs really have an official job in any of their universes, at least not for money. In their original universe of rain world they were all supercomputers constructed to solve the great problem, (to end the cycle of reincarnation) so i suppose that would be it. Most of them have long since give up on it though, with only their group senior descent continuing to try and find the solution to the detriment of his health (and trying to convince others to help him , to the detriment of his ability to have friends)

In the au where noone is actually human but i call it the human au anyway, seven golden glories is an immortal shapeshifter who sadly lost the ability to shapeshift so works through puppet proxies he controls to further his ultimate goal of having everyone in the world under his complete control, due to a loophole in the way his mind control magic works he is trying to become an elected politician, as the magic comes into effect when you enter a contract giving him some sort of power over you, and everyone voting for him would count for that

In a different, more silly human au, glories is a twitch streamer and EA rewilds wetlands and raises endangered fish for a living (EA is doing it for personal fulfillment and as an excuse to throw rocks through construction equipment windows) (glories.. likes the sims 4 too much)

Hmm... EA has every objects mai is attached to in their original incarnation. He keeps several data pearls with aer favorite messages from ichors friends (EA has a system i like to call neopronoun madness, switch pronouns every time you use one! After a while you can repeat) on haem at all times, and used to count the rarefaction cells they stole from glories as one of their prized possessions, a reminder to never trust anyone again, to push away anyone who comes close. Fortunately mur has healed from that somewhat, and no longer considers them anything special to her. Hae also keeps the broken citizen id drone of aer best friend from before the final public ascension

NRE keeps a pearl with all the data gleaned from the failed attempts to save skywriter, the groups senior whos communications failed suddenly one day, throwing everyone into chaos. Wy looks over the data constantly, trying to calculate a way to save sear from this, but never finding one

Descent keeps a pearl of all the ways he thinks hes failed, and looks at it when he considers slowing his work

Oooh. That's a good question, and unfortunately I don't remember the answer 😅 to be entirely honest I don't watch many movies or tv shows! I mostly just have various videos essays or astronomy college lectures on in the background while I make stuff. Keeps me sane.

...yeah chocolate eggs really do hit special don't they? Nothing quite like that first cronch. Gonna have to delve into my chocolate stash at work tomorrow now LOL (I've been really enjoying the Reece's eggs lately. Peanut butter. I'm too hungry for this 😭

For the art tax (stuff I do while half listening to youtube) have this Espeon I made! Patterned it up myself through Much Suffering... I really wanna make glaceon but I need a Very Specific Color that.. kinda just doesn't exist? So I had it printed on plain minky and it's now in the mail.

ive been wistfully thinking about making some kind of kaiji koi-koi fic bc im kinda insane about koi-koi in a way im not for any other games (and the way you'd need to be to make a vaguely fukumoto-typical game) but ive been stuck on the fact that like,, games where you form hands are really hard to keep track of in text-only formats. the flow is either super bogged down by constantly listing them or people get lost bc you cannot communicate that information quickly and simply like you can with visuals (a reflection that's helped me appreciate gambling manga as a concept a bit better) (this is also harder with koi-koi specifically bc there aren't number designations, so no 1-pin or 3 of hearts, which might make things a little easier to follow) BUT i also didn't want to draw potentially hundreds of pages of fan comic about this. but talking to nyarla i realized i can just.. put images in an ao3 post. i can show the hands visually every turn if ppl need a reference quickly and easily without having to think about panelling and flow and drawing hands and shit. anyway we might be so back you guys im so happy
