Oooo that’s a good one Sunny! 👻 I think a lot of it has to do with who’s coordinating who’s going along with the couple costumes too but here’s my list:

Most likely

Hyunjin. And he’s coordinating it. He’s been planning your outfit for weeks and you do not have a say in it. You will wear what he tells you to if you know what’s good for you. I think he would choose something like Howl and Sophie from or Jack and Sally. Something that makes him look good first and foremost, but also he’s got nothing but compliments for you all night.

Jisung. He’s just happy to be involved lol he will wear whatever you give him but when you make sure your outfits are at least somewhat to his interests, he’s very happy. Anything from an anime for sure but I’m particularly soft about him being Tuxedo Mask to your Sailor Moon.

Bang Chan. He’s a simp, and he’d do anything you want to do. So if you have an idea for a couples costume, he’s down. But I mean… good luck getting him out of the studio for long enough for someone to see it tho. I think he’d like something with Pokémon, where he’s Ash and you’re Misty or pikachu if that’s what you’re into. Or he’d be into something like the Big Bad Wolf and Red Riding Hood.

Felix. He’s also a simp and is down to match with you if you want. The only reason he’s below Chan is he’s got a LOT of opinions on what he’s gonna wear, and if your idea isn’t a vibe for him, he’s gonna let you know. I think he’d like the classic romanticism of Romeo + Juliet (the Leo and Claire Danes movie obv) or Link and Zelda!

Jeongin. He thinks it’d be fun to coordinate but doesn’t mind if you don’t! If you’re super into it though, he’s down as long as you guys work together and choose something that pleases you both. He’d get super shy day of Halloween and almost back out, but he goes through with it. I think for him, he’d be into Spiderman and Spider-Gwen and he’d reaaaaally appreciate that Spiderman mask when you start getting too much attention. He’d also be into Beetlejuice and Lydia imo.

Changbin. He’s only this low bc he’s not necessarily excited to match with you, he more just expected it to happen. But if you suggest a non-couple costume he is 1000% throwing a fit bc how dare you suggest not matching??? Are you his baby or not??? He’s also the only one of them who’d be down to be something spooky or scary with you, like any killer and final girl, or if he’s feeling super romantic, he’d be the Gomez to your Morticia.

Lee Know. He’s not opposed to it, but he’s not gonna put in a whole lot of effort to coordinate. He’s also stubborn so if he already knows what he wants to do, he’s probably gonna stick to it. Once the time comes, he finds it really cute you put in so much effort just to match with him. He’d be into being Anakin and Padme or some Harry Potter characters with you. But fuck that antisemitic terf ass jkr.

Seungmin. Tsundere ass would not try to coordinate with you. In fact, he tells you it’s a little embarrassing and he does NOT wanna wear something he doesn’t like. He also just doesn’t seem like someone who’d love the whole dressing up thing anyway so he’s doing something simple and dressing up like a baseball player. It’s an outfit he already has, so why not? But jokes on him, you dress up to match bonus points if it’s from the baseball scene in Twilight. He wants to be embarrassed but really, he thinks it’s hot you put that much effort into it. He goes around telling everyone you matched on purpose even though he initially hated the idea.

Oh baby. Oh man. Not just fic recs, but A/E fic recs? Yesssssssss my time has come.

First, there are a couple of writers whose entire oeuvre you should definitely check out if you haven’t.

Lolahardy, whose Dreamhusbands work is vast and varied, but here are a few of my own favorites (important note: no links because Lola’s fics are currently locked, but they are easily findable if you have an AO3 account, and you should definitely check out all of them, not just the few I mentioned here!):

In Every Universe - the fic that will never die, lol. So many great A/E stories here, but for me, the biggest draw are the other JGL/TH ships contained within. My personal favorite is Forrest/Evelyn, who I almost love even more than A/E at this point. Also, so many tropes and kinks and whatnot. Safe to say, I’m positive you’ll find a lot of different things to enjoy!

Le Mal Du Pays - this one is just lovely. I reread it again for this rec list and boy… still amazing. The chapters set during canon are so good, it’s like watching the movie again, but with the added bonus of actual A/E in the plot, you know?

Love is Strange - A/E by way of Dirty Dancing! I love it when you can enjoy an AU based on a very specific property even without having seen said property. For example, I adore everything about this fic even though I have never watched DD, not even once, lol.

OneWhoSitsWithTurtles, whose A/E work is never anything less than stellar and beautiful, and regularly makes me cry. Also, they have works in other fandoms that are equally worth checking out!

Christmas Without You (Is a Christmas Not Worth Having) - the best. The pinnacle. If ever you (or anyone else, for that matter) were curious about what my favorite A/E fic of all time is? Here’s your answer.

Dream of Me - This one is just beautiful. A simple little somewhat canon-compliant love story. So sugary sweet at times, it runs the risk of being tooth-rotting. But I’m always willing to take that risk.

39 Days to Fall in Love - the survivor AU you didn’t know you were missing. Seriously, it’s so good it might make you want to watch Survivor if you haven’t already, even if you know there’s no Arthur or Eames in it, lol.

Lullaby - Hands down, the saddest A/E fic I have ever read, and certainly in the running for saddest fic period. Seriously, it’s beautiful and worth reading but don’t go in without some tissues.

The Bumblebee and the Flower who Fell in Love - Also very sad, but so very whimsical and sweet besides. A/E works well in seemingly silly setups like this.

And now, for a few more individual recs. Mind you, a lot of my recs are a bit older - I really need to go back and peruse through the ship tag to find new stuff to bookmark - but hey, something something wine metaphors, lol.

End of the Road - this one is so cool. If you like Mad Max Fury Road and ever wondered what it would be like if you combined it with A/E (sort of) and some A/B/O Dynamics, you can’t do better than this.

Quiet Desperation - a lovely little A/E and 00q crossover story! I would read an entire series of this if it existed.

Next Big Thing - A/E as judges on a HGTV reality show. Classic! The exact kind of fairly low stakes drama I can get behind. No spoilers, but my favorite character is Misty Rainbow. For one scene in particular. If you read it, you’ll know exactly which one. Also I wish this show was real.

The Party - heavy subject matter in this one (heed the tags), but getting through the rough stuff makes the eventual fluffier bits almost extra sweet.

Out of Reach - a recent addition to my ranks, but absolutely beautiful. The emotions are so palpable and heartfelt.

And… would it be completely shameless if I included a couple of mine? I don’t like to toot my own horn too much, but since nobody else ever puts me on their reclists, why not, right?

Darling I’m Killed - my somewhat still ongoing Inception/Bond crossover. There are two sequels, and I have no concrete ideas for more yet, but there’s potential.

(I Would Like To) Paint the Way a Bird Sings - the Paint Shop AU that wouldn’t quit, lol. Still can’t believe I actually finished it. Four ships for the price of one in this fic!

anyway: i really like this episode! particularly it's a prime example of one of Meowth's two 'core traits' as I mentioned in my last post. I think this episode really showcases the dichotomy and intersection (ain't that an oxymoron?) of meowth's identity. I mean during the Pokemon battle part he literally plays two roles (going in my meowth identity crisis collection) this episode Meowth feels particularly in touch with his pokemon side, all while still being a weird little goofster. I think a lot of the best parts of his personality are on display here, his admission of defeat feels reminiscent of the philosphical and 'actually gives good advice' (i cant think of a word for it) traits of his that we see explored more throughout the series (Chimchar, Litten, Mimikyu, Ditto, off the top of my head)

So how did you end up shipping Aragorn and Créa? What's the story with them? I'm curious :)

This ask made me realize I hadn't actually talked about that before here?? At least, not in detail I think? I honest to god can't remember. But uh, it's a bit of a long story with a lot of explanation, as the ship is 8 years old and has had a lot of development!

Originally it came about as a ship between a friend who roleplayed Aragorn. We were joking around with some things, thought about it, and decided we liked it, and fleshed it out from there. After some time she no longer wrote him, so I took what we had come up with and built upon it and made it my own!

Of course, as we know, in canon Aragorn is rejected by Arwen (the first time, anyhow). By the time he meets Créa, he had balmed that wound and the infatuation with her had faded, and they had remained good friends instead.

When they first met, Aragorn is quite new to being a ranger- he's 23, and Créa is 20. Her home was in a small village in the Wilderland, and one night when the weather is particularly poor, he happens to be passing by and she offers him shelter; they get to know one another (as much as a Ranger would let someone get to know them :P), and when it comes time to leave, she refuses his payment- a kind gesture, and one he doesn't forget.

He comes back and stays a little longer each time and they talk a lot, and she asks lots of questions and is very curious. Eventually after a handful of months he reveals who he is and his heritage and she’s like okay! No idea who Isildur is but glad to know your name isn’t really Strider :) Aragorn had a big crush on her first because she always asked him questions, was interested in him, and she always made him smile and reminded him that there were good things in the world and stuff, and he brought her things from his travels as small gifts, as she had always longed to explore the greater world outside her small settlement.

Their “first kiss” was when, one night, she admitted to him when they were stargazing that she had never kissed anyone and it would probably stay that way, and he offered to be her first kiss just to say that she had one. She hesitated for a moment then agreed, and she was super shy and he had to guide her hands and they kissed. It basically blew her mind LOL and she was super flustered and joked that she’d have to practice more with him, then because she was worried she would ruin their friendship and also oblivious to his feelings (like Créa, he wouldn't offer if he didn't have feelings...) she was like “still friends?” and they agreed...but she couldn’t get that kiss out of her head and he couldn’t help but keep flirting with her. She absolutely caught feelings and It takes nearly a year of them to actually kiss again (bc Crea is OBLIVIOUS and was worried he wouldn’t be receptive) and officially become a couple.

Their time spent together was often domestic, and she loved to hear his stories of his people and history, of far off lands and ruins. For some reason, though, however faintly, it seemed familiar. She could never place why. There were some hints with Créa that not all was as it seemed- she had an innate ability to understand creatures, and was tall, dark haired, and pale eyes...all characteristics that pointed towards a certain heritage, unbeknownst to her.

This portion of her backstory I've never fully settled on, but Créa had lost her father, Baranhir, when she was about 10. He traveled very often and would leave but come back, often bringing her small tokens of the outside world, but said he helped protect traders traveling over the mountain pass- but she had never seen him come and go with any caravan; always by himself, and his stories seemed limited in what he could tell. Her uncle on her father's side would often stay with her, training her and helping out her and her mother when her father could not be there. But Baranhir was killed in an orc ambush on the other side of the Misty Mountains, and his body was never brought home, and no one could, or would, tell her why. (This is a different story, and will make this ask too long to go into here).

Her mother wants to leave the settlement in her grief, unable to stay in the house she and her husband built, but young Créa refuses- she doesn't think her father is actually dead, she never saw the body, and held out a deperate hope that he would one day return- none could convince her otherwise. From here, it's a toss up on how she's raised- her mother might stay for a while and return back to her parent's village, her uncle might take over instead, etc. I've had Créa for 10 years and you'd think I'd have had it concrete by now!

During the events of The Hobbit, goblins and wargs come down from the Misty Mountains and attack villages and kill and take people back into their tunnels. One by one each village is plundered, and it's Créa's village that gets attacked next, nearly decimated. In the aftermath, in the husk of her stable, she finds a box hidden beneath broken floorboards, buried what seems long ago.

Inside is a seven pointed star brooch, old and weathered, a few of his things, and at the very bottom was a leatherbound journal. With that, she finally discovers the truth; that her father was a Dúnedain Ranger, which in turn made her Dúnedain as well.

The revelation, of course, is huge- much that did not make sense to her, the secretiveness of her father, the reluctance of her mother to ever tell her much of her and her father's heritage, now finally became clear. Her father wrote of all the lands he visited, what he did, how he had missed his family- and most shockingly of all, that he had been very good friends with Arathorn, and had even looked after toddler Aragorn from time to time, noting that "Arathorn's son and my daughter would've gotten along splendidly."

He was more than right, of course, but Créa had been robbed of the knowledge of her heritage, and she is shocked, to say the least. When Aragorn returns, they have a very, very long talk, and she shows him the journal. He investigates on her behalf, wanting to know if its true, but even just from reading Aragorn knows that it's true, and his research only confirms it. In the end, Créa is disillusioned, feeling that although her settlement had been saved, it was not saved for her, and wishes to travel with him, and become a Ranger of the North, following in the footsteps of her father. She wants to defend people who can’t defend themselves, and he warns her of the lifestyle, but she’s determined, and not long after she says goodbye to her home and they travel together to the west.

And it’s a huge change to her life, and she struggles a lot. She discovers new lands and plants and people, she’s in an entirely new culture and lost heritage that she tries to navigate, feeling outcast and struggles with worthiness and trying to find where she belongs among them. She was robbed of being raised among her people, of knowing her father for who he was, as he had clearly wanted to tell her of their kin and their past.

It's an interesting dichotomy between the two of them- Aragorn's past was hidden for reasons of safety, and for her, technically, it was the same- her mother did not wish for her to follow in her father's footsteps, and refused to have her heritage revealed until she came of age- and when her father died, in order to protect her, decided not to tell her at all. Créa feels desperately behind in everything, and feels overwhelmed and lonely. Even her name, from her mothers culture, makes her stand out more than she'd like.

Aragorn helps her navigate this, but a lot of it Créa does on her own- this'll grow into a long tangent so I'll try and steer back on course. They often travel together, him as her guide, and she also travels with others who help her gain the skills she lacks in order to become a Ranger. When Aragorn feels she is ready, she travels alone, and eventually becomes sworn in as a Ranger. There's a lot more to their story, but this is the beginning of it.

I think, personally, what makes this dynamic really interesting is that it's not quite fate. I'm always nervous to talk about the ship in the sense that I'm aware that it breaks a lot of canon! I'm aware of the parallels and the impact on the stories and the meanings and what is taken away by it. But with that friend and later by myself, I've worked quite hard to make it canon compliant in a way that's not terribly jarring, and while I think Tolkien relies a lot on fated love and things just working out, I love the gnitty gritty human aspect of it all. Créa is no elf princess, and I think that's what makes it so interesting to explore a different dynamic. Also I love Arwen so it's not abt that either (I love her and Tauriel <3), it's just fascinating to explore other possibilities!

I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility for Aragorn to love a Dúnedain woman- his mother would be very pleased, as it's canon that she prefers Aragorn not marry an elf, and it would be a great relief to Elrond as well, for obvious reasons, and like I said before, I think Aragorn's infatuation would eventually fade. Their romance blooms in the spring of their youth, and through hardships and turmoil their relationship grows stronger, forged like steel. To be able to come from a similar heritage, to understand one's struggles as a Ranger, to know their duties come first but knowing that they can rely on one another. It's not fate, but hard work and determination. It's interesting to see them grow as characters, but also see their relationship mature and change- they're together when they're young and unhardened by the world, and spend 60 years together- having been through so much, but still by each other's side in the end.

They're both characters who exist outside of each other, who have their own stories and arcs, but they also have a lot of parallels and are interesting foils for one another- one example being Aragorn's heritage and knowing it, and the weight behind it- and Créa struggling with having next to no heritage- much of the information of her family has been lost, and leads to an interesting dichotomy- what weighs more? Knowing your heritage and the expectations of it, or potentially never knowing at all, having been lost forever? How does that effect one as a person and their view of themself?

There's a lot of hurdles they go through and it's so complex and fascinating for me. I could write a few more examples (their hurdles in trying to get married, their duties that keep them apart, their kids, the expectation of Aragorn being king and the post war future they struggle with) but this is already realllyyy long and I don't think anyone's read this far haha. But you're more than welcome to send in any asks if you want to know more <3 I appreciate the question and the chance to talk about them in depth! I really can't remember the last time I got to do so and this made me happy.

Ok Justice For All. This is not going to be exhaustive or comprehensive but here we go.

The first case we don't really need to cover. It's a tutorial, it achieves what it sets out to do, there's not a whole lot else. I really like the amnesia concept and while I wish more had been done with it (like being used in a regular case), I understand the mechanical service it does for a tutorial.

Our second case is solid. It was really fun to figure out exactly what happened and if you've been following my 'game posting' tag you saw exactly how much fun I had. I kind of wish we had gotten more out of Misty, but that wouldn't really work in this medium (lol get it). Obviously I love Pearly I adore her I would be her slave she deserves the world. Phoenix, stop showing her the horrors, please. I just really have to keep coming back to how fun this case was to solve. Sometimes the correct things to do mechanically make no sense to me bc I don't leap far enough with my logic, but this case I was able to do pretty easily which tells me it was very well written with the proper foreshadowing and such (and I am a sucker for properly laid ground work). I like that we get more Fey lore. I am devastated that I guesses the twist ending but I had no one to witness it. It's probably my favorite case this game.

Bigtop is a mess. We're going to ignore the Regina age problem for our sanity and pretend she's 18 bc wtf (I knew this but just now [as I was typing the end of this paragraph] connected the dots that in Japan 16 is viewed as our 18 and they just didn't localize her age). I really like Max! He's my favorite character to come out of this case and I will never let go of my wrightica/galactright ship (is there an official ship name?). He thinks Edgeworth is dead, it could happen. Also! Diversity win! The guy who murdered you is wheelchair bound! But actually I really like the concept of Acro's motivations, driven to madness and murder by grief. I like it less when we come back to Regina's canon age, like even when she's 18 Acro should still view her as a child and personally I could never hold something like that against a child. It was decidedly and accident and not even remotely her fault. It's not her fault your brother was swayed to do something idiotic by the power of boners, my guy. Also Regina is not ok. She needs help and the only one who realizes it is Moe. Everyone else is 'enabling' (that's not exactly the word I'm looking for but it's in the ballpark) her. Her own father was likely the worst offender. Moe may not be funny (I actually liked his jokes) but he is genuinely a great guy.

Our last case: Extremely well written. I went into this already knowing the outcome, how could I not. Despite this, I was so worried about Maya everything else went out the window. For a minute I actually convinced myself of the possibility that Adrian had done it (I am so sorry for everything we put you through, but it was for Maya). This case really put me in Phoenix's shoes. I'd imagine if you don't actually like Maya, this might not do for you what it did for me, but if you don't like Maya I don't know how you've managed to play all the way through the second game. Of course the good ending where you toss Engarde to the wolves (the assassin he hired) is iconic. That's what you get. Again if you've been following my 'game posting' tag you know I had strong feelings about Edgeworth through this. Most of them were due to the stress of Maya being kidnapped (I seriously got waaayyyyyy too in character during this case), but also he was smug as hell for no reason when he showed back up. He was like 'new me!' and refused to elaborate. Phoenix is not a mind reader, my guy. He won me over again so we're good. Also the dinner? At the end it literally says "I wonder if there's anything I can give him to express how I feel...?" I think we can all imagine my first thought... actually I don't trust people to put thoughts in my head, my first thought was a kiss. (You actually give the whip and Miles yet again thinks Phoenix is a mind reader, will it ever end?) I can't forget! Gummy's official stint at Wright Co! My one post about him being a Phoenix Wright weird girl was really popular and then my second (about this case) also got some notes, so clearly this is the Gumshoe content we're all looking for. (Can they please stop firing him though? He's going to end up dead on the street from starvation.) I thought it was really something how much Phoenix trusts Gumshoe. He said

The scene with Franziska and Miles at the end was sorely needed and it was fantastic. They're both growing and healing from shared trauma and it's beautiful.

Over all... I forget, is this the one people don't like out of the trilogy? I liked it. The first is obviously iconic and banger after banger, but I do like this one. Overall it's definitely worth playing and very enjoyable. (Idk bc I haven't tried it personally, but there's a post going around about ds estore emulation or something where you can play games from the ds estore for free now that it's closed, so as far as I know you can play it for free now.)

Ugh. Finally out of my slump. I dunno what was going on, but I was struggling so hard to get a card finished!!!

Absolutely ridonculous.

But I really like the way this card came out! I struggled a bit to figure out what I wanted to pose to be. I had some alternate ideas that I liked, but I felt like they just didn't fit with the card lol.

I might end up finishing one (or both) of the concepts I had and post them here or on Patreon because they were pretty solid.

I also changed the bottom of the border. I felt like the red misty-parts in my original were waaaay too large. I'll have to modify the other cards that I've already done, but that'll take a bit of time so I'm gonna do that later :')

As always, I got my interpretations under the cut. This one's pretty interesting. I go from talking about video games to the power of restorative justice. Pretty neat~~

One of the main themes of the Strength card, I feel, is the coexistence between raw force (as demonstrated by the lion in the original Rider-Waite-Smith card) and a more quiet inner strength (demonstrated by the woman closing the lion's jaws).

In this card, we see our understanding of lions flipped on its head. Usually considered an untamable, savage beast, the lion is happy to yield to the woman. She's shown the animal a sort of patience and kindness it's not used to and as such, its putty in her hands.

But there's an air of benevolence to the woman's actions. We get the feeling that she's not looking to take advantage of the lion's eagerness to please. It's almost as if the company of the lion is enough reason to tame it.

In the woman's actions, we see a sort of bravery and confidence that isn't often depicted in pop culture. This woman has balls of steel to put her hands and face close to a lion's mouth, but she isn't looking to dominate or force the lion into submission.

So often, we see someone who's considered 'brave' resort to violence or anger and while there's not necessarily anything wrong with that if someone truly believes they're doing the right thing, the Strength card suggests that maybe the better option is to be patient and kind.

You'll never close a lion's mouth if you're trying to snap it shut. But if you have the courage, you can coax it shut over time.

Overall, pulling the Strength card is a sign that you've got way more courage and bravery than you think you do. You're tough as mother fucking nails, regardless of whether or not you show it on the outside.

Maybe with this sign, you can take that step you've been scared to take.

Reversed, the balance has been lost. While that inner strength is still within you, there's something (whether that be outside voices, your circumstances, or even your own thoughts) that's convinced you that you're weak.

Pulling a reversed Strength card suggests that you're feeling self-conscious about yourself. You feel you're missing that 'It' factor that separates you from the Confident Ones. There's likely people around you who seem to have their shit together. Who don't put up with the shit being thrown at them.

The important thing to remember is that we have no window into their minds. It's probable that these people feel the same fear that we do. After all, it's not brave to do something you don't fear.

Fear doesn't make us weak and the reversed Strength card urges us to reevaluate ourselves.

Toughness takes many forms. You're not any less brave just because you don't beat people up.

Being able to coax a lion's jaw shut, or say 'no' when you don't want to do something is just as valuable.

For this card, I wanted to focus more on the coexistence between the woman and the lion in the original.

I feel like something that's kinda glossed over in a lot of interpretations is that the lion appears happy to have the woman close his jaw. This is a mutually beneficial partnership-- the woman has a companion and the lion loves being her company.

Yellow is the primary color this card uses which implies a joyfulness to their interaction.

In regards to Kiryu and Haruka, I feel this applies really well to them.

In the first game, Kiryu's been essentially thrown to the side once he gets out of jail-- no one visited him pretty much his entire time in prison, no one was there when he got out. He's been abandoned and treated as the reason for everyone's problems.

He's forced to rebuild his life while everyone's trying to kill him.

But then he meets Haruka and those rough edges begin to soften.

Something that sticks out to me about Kiryu in the first yakuza game is that he's initially hesitant to feed a starving puppy. Kiryu's convinced that there's no reason to help it out since it's going to go hungry again. "That's just how life is."

This sounds like a really small detail, but it's a huge departure from how we understand Kiryu now. Even just a game or two later, he wouldn't even hesitate to help out.

The message that comes across to me is that everyone is capable of loving and being loved. But for some, they've been treated so poorly and have begun to believe that the world is cruel and uncaring. In those cases, it takes someone showing kindness and not just trying to shut them up and shove them to the side.

And I feel this is really important to the meaning of the Strength card.

The woman isn't taming the lion just cuz. She sees that the lion desires love and companionship and is happy to give it.

I think the card is also implying that the act of loving and caring for those deemed 'violent and unlovable' is a more universal, cosmic act than an individualistic one.

If you squint at the original card, the perspective looks kinda wonky. The woman and the lion look like they're towering over mountains and shit. At first, I thought the tarot cards as a whole just had a poor grasp on perspective, but looking back, that's not really true at all!

I think the woman and the lion in the card are supposed to be towering over everything because they're not literal representations of a woman and a lion; they're a metaphor.

We have a very unforgiving view of people who don't meet society's image of the 'upstanding citizen'. It starts in school where 'bad kids' are considered irredeemable and not worthy compassion or understanding and it extends all the way out to our treatment of the poor, or the homeless, or those in prison, or any other group that's blamed for everything wrong with the world.

It's easy to shun those we consider undesirable. Having a scapegoat to blame all of society's ills on is convenient and great for pushing agendas, but is that actually how we should be treating people?

What if instead of shunning and punishing people, we treated them with love-- taught them that the world is good and people care?

What if we showed the value in small acts of kindness? What if giving a dog a meal meant more than just the food and water you purchased?

How many good, loving people have been convinced that they're not worthy of goodness or of being loved?

Why are we okay with even one person not seeing their value and their worth?

Kingdom of Welcome Addiction by IAMX, go listen to it it's so good. I also made a very simple edit of Akihiro to this song.

7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?

There's a few things but all the people who headcanon him as asexual, this reading is really great because it goes against all the sexualization and fetishization he's subjected to as a character, and it really feels so accurate to his character as well if you really dig into a lot of his early appearances. Also everyone who makes an effort to refer to him as Akihiro exclusively.

20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?

Ooooo this is a hard one. I don't really think there's ever been anyone in Akihiro's life who qualified as a "best friend," in fact it's really hard to read any of his relationships like that when they are almost all temporary relationships that he abandons or is abandoned by. I guess you could argue that Laura is the closest he's ever had to a best friend, but their relationship is very familial in nature. Honestly to me, I feel like he and Aurora could be best friends outside of their romantic relationship, even if they go through a breakup. My other thought would be Johnny, they're also obviously meant to be a romantic relationship but I think they could be best friends outside of that.

This being said though I feel like he deserves to have a best friend who he's never had any romantic attachments too, as that can be something that interferes with a relationship and especially for Akihiro. My top pick for a best friend then would probably be Lorna. I loved the way @gealach-in-a-misty-world wrote their relationship in her fanfic The Ties that Bind. I can also see potential for him and Kwannon to be friends.

24. What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?

hmmmmmm this is difficult because I don't really have a lot of other fandoms lol. You could say there are some similarities between him and Curt Wild from Velvet Goldmine, but honestly i tend to compare Curt a lot more to Kyle Gibney. One instrumental difference between Curt and Akihiro though is that Curt is a very vulnerable and emotionally open person, Aki is not at all. So I would probably say they're kind of similar on a surface level, but once you get deeper they are not similar at all.

Honestly there's probably something I'm forgetting because Aki is very much My Type as a character and I've been liking characters like him since i was younger, but I'm blanking right now on what things I've been into in the past lol. amnesia :sob:

Honestly I think the only reason ash/Gary is so widely disliked(?) and therefore separated from red and blue/green is because ash and Gary can feel “corny” or “childish” and have been associated with the “bad shippers” if that makes sense. Most pallet shipping fanart is either meant to be platonic or is joke art. Maybe this is because ash has always had female love interests in the anime, yet pokespe and the games either just don’t have that OR the girls are quickly disconnected from the protagonist in some way.

Take misty in the manga, she just doesn’t have a lot of time to DO things with red, but in the anime? There’s STILL a bunch of pro misty shippers for them. Along with the fact that I’m pretty sure Selena is his wife in the future or something?

I think it’s interesting because it brings in the aspects of cringe culture and heteronormativity; “Because Ash/Satoshi has female love interests, it is cringe worthy or makes me the bad kind of shipper for shipping them”

And that’s not even bad imo, just like it’s not bad to dislike a female love interest, but it should be questioned WHY you don’t like something. Do you not like this female love interest because she’s annoying? Or is it because she’s a woman?

So, in other words, do people dislike pallet shipping because they genuinely think ash and Gary are awful, or because the prospect of LIKING that ship makes them the “bad kind” of shipper?

(Btw I don’t even like this ship that much, and I honestly blame it partly on the fandoms extreme distaste of it, along with how “childish” it feels. I don’t necessarily want to feel that way about something that isn’t inherently bad in my mind, but it still exists. You have very reasonable points! I understand the whole “that’s how I feel in my mind” thing about stuffs, cause I just assumed everyone thought palletshipping was reguri. And my brain is still hard-wired to thinking about palletshipping in relation to reguri, so I don’t really have much to say on this.

Ash ships never personally intrigued me since they overshadow the other ships (that I actually like). But even though i get salty about them sometimes, most aren’t bad ships!

8) Stephanie Brown (DC Comics) - Purple Clad Icon who tries her hardest and doesn't always succeed but DAMN IT if she isn't gonna crawl back on her feet again no matter what!!! Every single shitty thing a male writer can do to a female character has been done to her, and she's STILL STANDING!!! I will defend her to my last breath.

9) Mary Morstan (Sherlock Holmes) Very few adaptions ever do my girl justice and it's SO FRUSTRATING!!! But god I love her. I love how she's so strong not in a badass Hashtag No Fear way but in the way she is terrified and scared and still goes forward anyway! THAT all said, i don’t find them necessary at all—i’m primarily here to read threads, so icons or no icons, the writing is where my focus remains and my interests lie!! i don’t bypass blogs just bc they go icon-less, in fact its oftentimes the opposite? i love seeing how ppl can use their words alone to paint the entire picture. whichever way someone chooses to express their muse is valid tbh, do what feels comfortable!

#18. fanon interpretations

throw a stone and hit any of my muses, and it's apparent how over-the-top and carried away i get from canon lmao... pkmn is the perf franchise for it too; not only are the settings vast and the thematic concepts plentiful, but there is often a lot of negative space to fill on these muses’ canvases (this seems esp true for most canon characters in the earlier games). i aim for my interpretations to feel realistic (to some degree) so i do keep in mind the little canon i am given... but that’s still more for reference, and not something i strictly abide by. its thrilling how ppl have fun w their muses’ exploits and interpersonal relationships, i’m so here for how muns deviate from canon in order to conceptualize something entirely new.

#26. your character

jasmine, jasmine... i will never forget witnessing her for the first time ;; it was after school, while watching my friend nick play gold before a crowd of like 12 of us (he was that kid that always had new games right when they came out lol his family had it made like that). he was just reaching the jasmine gym battle by the time i walked up. as you can imagine, being an elementary schooler i was not using the internet as it was back then much at all, so leaks etc were not accessible to me (what few leaks existed at the time, that is); same was true for p much everyone else in my grade, so none of us had any idea about the slayage we were in for. we all saw the two magnemite and kinda brushed them off like “lmao that’s cute”, the disappointment was kinda real ngl 💀 but that disappointment didn’t last long whatsoever, bc the second she sent steelix out... the collective gasps in that lunchroom, lemme tell you! it was quite possibly the greatest thing any of us had ever seen in our lives up to that point, so serious when i say lives were changed that day ;;

so then when i finally received the game a couple months later, i was so excited to get to her gym and battle her for myself. i fell more in love going thru the amphy plotline, and the rest was history as they’d say. she was (and still is) a v overlooked character, but writing her is tons of fun c: (as is seeing her get some exposure from pokemas!) srry this was long-winded as HELL-

#29. your first muse

for the pkmn fandom, my first ever muse was (surprise) misty! this was back on lj, in a community that prob died out in 06 lmao. she was a lot of fun to explore, and became the perf gateway muse before i decided to try exploring diff personalities within the pkmn universe. ive written her since several times, and she’s grown into a more developed muse of mine following that first incarnation for sure. always will have a soft spot in my heart for miss kasumi ♡
