I am SO EXCITED to share my first piece for @penumbrabang ! Ser’s fic was absolutely FANTASTIC to read and create art for, and it deserves so much recognition. Go give her work a read!!!

[ID: Juno Steel and Peter Nureyev from The Penumbra Podcast. They both face each other, presumably mid-conversation. Hello everyone! Very pleased to announce that sign-ups for the 2020-21 Penumbra Mini Bang are NOW OPEN for everyone!!

If you are interested in creating a collaborative fanwork as a writer working with an artist or an artist working with a writer, or assisting both as a beta, this is the event for you. Because we’re a mini bang, the word count requirement for completed fics is only 5,000 words, and one piece of art per fic! We hope to see lots of new and returning faces this year, coming to show off their amazing talents and create all kinds of amazing stuff for the Penumbra Podcast fandom.

My piece for the CTABB Mini Bang of the last couple of days!

I got paired with a writer from the server, and we together decided our theme, settling on Ancient Egyptian Gods AU! I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, and I’ll probably fix this one too in thw future,,,, though, i must admit, it didn’t turn out too bad given i only had the weekend to do this lol.

Anyhow, here’s Ra!Hawks, God of the Sun and living creatures, and Anubis!Dabi, God of the Aferlife. Tried to shove in some interesting symbology :)

when life imitates fanfic:

Last year for the Snowbarry Spring minibang I wrote a fic about Barry and Caitlin sharing a special spot out in the woods, where there were trees with pretty pink petals. And I absolutely adored the graphic that @ttinycourageous made to go with the story! ❤:

Now as I'm working on finishing my fic for this year's minibang (which is actually slightly less spring-y and much more frosty❄) I see a lovely post by Danielle on Instagram which looks a bit familiar: pretty pink-petalled trees! 🌸😍 and also a picture on the beach with a stroller in her stories. Art definitely imitates life, it for sure brought me back to SB's special spot by the river:

Anyways, I'm a bit busy with a few WIP fics at the moment, but I still of course got a very brief idea for a sequel scene I thought I'd share if I never get around to actually writing it out.

Just a short little scene, mostly Barry and Caitlin bringing their new little one to their special spot, and to the beach too. Maybe they'd even have a little dog too. They'd play in the grass and flower petals near the little river with their kiddo and the pup, have a picnic. There'd be lots of Snowbarry domestic fluff and cuteness. They'd talk about their friends and family, maybe reminisce about the past. Make plans for the future. Similar to the first story, but a bit less sadness and loss.

Back now to working on this year’s minibang which is only slightly (a lot) angstier than last year’s....❄💔. Just a few more days to go - super excited to see everyone else’s stories/art again this year too! 🙂

This might be the best day of Rita’s life: she’s finally found someone else who understands her “doodle code” note-taking method! Now she just has to figure out how to decipher the super-secret encoded notes Mister Ransom’s been sending her, because whatever version of doodle code he’s using, it’s way more advanced than anything she’s ever seen.

Peter’s never heard of doodle code. He has no clue why Rita keeps slipping drawings under his door and into his lockpicking kit, accompanied by exaggerated winks and furtive glances, as if they’re both in on some private joke. But she seems to like the drawings he gives her in return, so he’s not complaining. At least somebody appreciates his art.

Juno’s just happy his best friend and the love of his life are getting along. Eventually, one of them will realize the other has no idea what they’re talking about, and this whole misunderstanding will be over and done with. Right?

Shenanigans ensue, because nothing’s ever that simple.

Artist and beta signups will remain open for another month or so, until claims, but writer sign-ups close on Monday, so sign up this weekend!! We want this event to be as big and exciting as possible, and that means as many new (and returning) friends as we can find.

Summary: On a frosty September night, Nicky goes down to his building’s laundry room after a long and exhausting day at university. What’s supposed to be a little quiet time alone changes into the start of something special, all because of the 3 strangers he finds down in the laundry room.

This was delightful. The imagery is very strong, the characters are so warm (despite the snow), and I just had a really good time exploring this one. I totally recommend you check it out!! I seriously genuinely loved the setting and people here.
