In the comics, within the Hellboy universe, the Lobster was a vigilante who worked in secret in New York City during the 1930s. Although the public believes that the Lobster was only the hero of pulp serials and comics, he was a real man who faced gangsters as well as paranormal threats. The Lobster had a reputation for violence, such as killing mobsters and burning his trademark lobster claw symbol into their foreheads with the palm of his gloved hand. Daniel Dae Kim will play Ben Daimio; a rugged Japanese-American military member of the B.P.R.D. who, due to a supernatural encounter, can turn into a jaguar when angered or in pain. Ed Skrein was originally cast in the role but upon discovering that Daimio was portrayed in the comics as Japanese-American, he withdrew to allow an Asian actor to be cast instead. A month later, Kim was cast in the role. In the comics, Captain Ben Daimio was a Japanese-American who was the former leader of a squad of 8 U.S. Marines assigned to a rescue mission in the Bolivian jungle to save the nuns who was apparently captured by a fundamentalist group called the True Path. The mission went awry when the true culprits, a native jaguar cult who murdered the nuns, attacked the group. Shortly thereafter, a shapeless entity made itself known and slaughtered them until only Daimio remained, the incident leading him to be severely scarred on the left side of his face. He then collapsed and died from his injuries, while he received horrific visions of a giant jaguar-like spirit who told Daimio that his new life was to begin. Three days later, Daimio's corpse was recovered and scheduled for autopsy. However, he returned to life just prior to the procedure, cutting his way out of his body bag. Sasha Lane will play Alice Monaghan: a woman of Irish descent who retained some magical abilities after she was kidnapped by fairies as a baby. Harbour stated that the character "gets to play with some really interesting ideas of, sort of, being a witch and having visions." In the comics, when she was a baby, fairies kidnapped Alice to raise as their own, because they could no longer have children, as seen in "The Corpse." To rescue her, Hellboy had to take a corpse to an appropriate grave and dispatch with the last fomorian. Even after she was rescued, however, she continued to see the fairies, whom she claims to never have tried to take her again like before. Her mother sent her off to school out of worry upon discovering this, and when both her parents passed away, she returned home. So overall the movie was good but not great. Look I know they are planning on doing Wonder Woman 3, so if Patty Jenkin is directing again, don't write the damn movie. Make sure this movie is in the "Present". Seek out stories from The New 52 or DC Rebirth. Don't hire Geoff Johns as a writer, a producer maybe. And whoever was the editor, needs to be fired because this movie didn’t have to be two and a half hours. There were a lot of scenes that could have been cut out and some that just didn’t go with the story. Wonder Woman discovering that she can fly...who the !@#$ put that in the movie. Yes in the comics she can fly, but I wish she would have discovered this in the first film. This makes me so confused with the DCEU and I wish they would have had a plan for this movie because this feels like a stand alone film, which I guess that is what Patty Jenkins is trying to do. But overall it is not a bad movie but I wish they would invest in editing and had test screening for the film before it came out. But please give this movie a shot and I hope ya’ll enjoy it. The story was mediocre. The movie wasn't bad, it was better than Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey; but the movie wasn't better than Wonder Woman. The movie was all over the place and for the first time I fell asleep on it. So I had to watch it a second time. And I was trying to figure out what the opening scene had to do with the movie. And I believe it is...be true to yourself. Everybody doesn’t get a pass in life, just because you cheat. Seeing Maxwell Lord using everybody to lie and cheat his way to the top, just to have greatness didn’t make him a better person. Barbra wanted to be like Diana, but when she made her wish, she gave up her humanity to be a monster. Even Diana made a wish to see Steve again, but it cost her losing her powers and immortality; and it also cost the host body that Steve spirit was in. The action scenes were great; The mall scene even though it was all over the place, You see Wonder Woman being wise of saving the two little girls in the mall while dealing with the robbers. The chase scene in Egypt, where Maxwell Lord has his new security detail; Wonder Woman and Steve Rogers are chasing him trying to find the Dreamstone of Dolos. I will say I was impressed with Wonder Woman taking on an army with the little power she had left. The White House scene could have been cut but I did like her fight scene with Barbra Minerva before she turned into an apex predator. But the third act had a better action sequence than the first movie.  Here is another thing I found out about the movie: WB executives wanted Patty Jenkin to cut one of the opening scenes,  which was Themyscira scene and the mall scene where Wonder Woman takes down the robbers. And the reason, because it made the movie too long. Honestly I love both scenes, but I understand from the executives that the movie didn't need to be long, so if I had to choose, I would have taken the mall scene out. Kristen Wigg as Barbra Minerva/Cheetah is one of the most disappointing roles I have ever seen in a DCEU movie. I know that is saying a lot but hear me out, Wiggs as Barbra Minerva/Cheetah was not bad; actually it was excellent.  My problem was the way they made her a side villain in this film instead of the main villain. In DC Comics, Cheetah is at least in the top 10 best villains (well on my list) and she has gone toe to toe with other superheroes including Superman and the Flash. I like the way they had Barbra as an innocent, funny, clumsy, and very intelligent woman who wanted to be like Diana, because she believed Diana had everything. Even though she made the wish to become Diana, she lost her humanity and became selfish. Chris Pines once again plays Steve Trevor, and I feel like he shouldn’t have been in the movie. Ok before I hear the hate, just hear me out. Steve's character was great in the film. In the first movie he was a guide to Man’s World for Diana; in this film Diana guides him in a world of a different time. The excitement of seeing both of them on screen was good because they have a great chemistry together. The scene where they both steal a plane, make it invincible (yeah she made an invisible plane) and fly around the fireworks, man...I wish I went to see this IMAX, just for that scene. I enjoyed seeing from an audience view, how Steve was amazed of how the world changed since his passing. How he was at the museum and saw how technology has changed aerospace industries. But I also appreciated him to tell Diana to renounce her wish so that she can save the world. But here is my reason why he shouldn’t be in the movie, Diana needed to move on. It is wonderful to see Gal Gadot wearing those boots again. Look you can say anything about this movie, but you can tell Gadot was comfortable and confident in playing the role again. I enjoyed her journey of saving people while also trying to keep it secret. I also enjoyed her fashion in the 80’s, it was much more settled. Her relationship with Barbra Minerva was complex; at first they were colleagues then friends, protector, and now enemies. But her relationship with Steve Trevor was fantastic. It was almost like they never skip a beat with what happened to him after his apparent death from World War 1. Hey guys I know it has been a while and a lot has happened. I know some of ya'll are saying, Misfit where have you been buddy or Misfit who? Look I have been going through a lot with this Pandemic. I haven't been able to see my family that much because my dad caught the virus, but he has recovered, some friends have died from Covid-19, I have been stuck at home instead of traveling, my fiance and our roommate is working from home more often, the police brutality against African American, and me working for both physical labor jobs which has taken my body out of whack. Not getting enough sleep, not working out, only hanging out with friends by using any video devices (which is not so bad) and just feel exhausted all the damn time. There have been times I want to post stuff but I am so tired I can't even open my laptop. I miss posting every other week, going to the movies every other weekend, going to comic book stores and staying for hours just to find a book to read that day, or even traveling to Denver or Austin to get my Voodoo Doughnuts. I miss going to the beach of San Diego to put my feet in the Pacific Ocean. I miss traveling to New Orleans to explore the streets and trying all the food. I tell you what though, with this pandemic I did get a chance to catch up on some shows I really wanted to watch, like a few animes that I might review and trust me some of them are weird but enjoyable. I hope this Pandemic will be over soon, I am just tired; but I will get back into writing my next blog on Black Widow and Wonder Woman 84 very soon, just bare wit me.
