Let’s have a Christmas hunt, they said. It will be fun, they said. What ‘they’ didn’t say was who they planned to hunt... or what the prize would be. Oh yeah, that would be me on both accounts.

By ‘they’ I mean my father, Alpha of the Evergreen pack. He’s taken things too far this Christmas Eve. My pack is obsessed with Christmas. Humans come from all over to see our Christmas village with no idea they’re celebrating with werewolves.

None of the Evergreen wolves are my fated mates, so naturally, I turn tail and run… right into the arms of the, erm, Anti-Christmas leader of the Brimstone pack, Alpha Coal. He’s not known for his love of people. Who can blame him, though? The moon goddess must have a twisted sense of humor… because it turns out he’s my fated mate. …And so is his beta. …And his third in command.

Just when I think things couldn’t get worse, my attempt to shimmy down a chimney winds up with me stuck. How the heck does Santa do this? With wolves hunting me, three fated mates who hate Christmas, and my life falling apart, I’m not sure I can handle the secret that is about to be dropped on me… it just might be a Christmas Miracle.

It's puzzling, for the agent to take a glimpse at his surroundings and find no fault in them, only to seemingly blink and return to a view so far different from the one prior that the passage of time throws him completely off his rhythm. The formerly empty corners are now decorated with garlands, the walking space shrunk by the placement of a colorful, festive tree, and the doors and various other high spaces he'd often use are riddled with mistletoes in what he's certain must be a western tradition imported into their country just recently.

Where movement had been easy a mere day ago, Ango now struggles to navigate through the energetic crowds of coworkers while simultaneously remaining mindful of not stepping underneath any of the dangerous tradition-heralds that await him at every corner. He manages to exit the office without incident by barely swerving the oddly positioned, trickier mistletoes and timing his escape to when none of his colleagues had been close to the door, yet his luck doesn't last ---never lasts--- for long, and before he can relish in the vacancy of the hallway, his usual stroke of misfortune comes crashing in.

No sooner does Ango let out a sigh of relief and reach for the doorknob to the room his next tasks involve, that a loud thud follows and he can feel his body jerk backwards from the slight impact of a slam. ❛ Ah- ❜ Immediately raising a hand to secure his glasses in place, Ango's gaze slowly rises to meet none other than Inoue's, which he would have, on a better day, been glad to come across; if only the looming threat of a mistletoe hanging above them wouldn't have stolen most of his attention away.

The prolonged, turned-awkward silence is perhaps what prompts Inoue to attempt to find the spot Ango seems to be staring at in resigned disbelief (of course this would happen, one way or the other, why would it not) and it is when the older finally finds the mistletoe with his gaze that Ango figures it's too late to do anything but comply with the others' wishes. Truly, even as he stands hidden behind Inoue's taller figure, he can feel the growing, insistent gazes of their other coworkers from within the room.

With a soft sigh, Ango supposes it is his fault for not having knocked first, then waited for any potential colleagues to exit the room from a safer distance, however time-consuming such a roundabout way might have been. It isn't any skin off his nose, indifferent as he may be about such acts, but he cannot be sure of how Inoue will react to such an... adventurous tradition. ❛ ...Inoue-san, may I please trouble you to lean down for a moment? ❜ ...And in hindsight, does his friend even know what the mistletoe entails? For the sake of both of their dignities, Ango certainly hopes he does, or at least has been briefed about by the rest of their colleagues.

When the other complies to his request and Inoue at last stands on his level, Ango's fingers reach for his friend's face and gently cup his cheek, guiding him further into his own personal space until he can manage to press a light, featherly kiss to the corner of Inoue's lips. It isn't an overly bold move from his part, but it isn't one that explicitly goes against the tradition either.

Slowly side-stepping after the fact, Ango offers his colleague a polite nod and a rueful smile, hoping (though not verbally expressing) that this won't poorly affect their relationship as he whispers his thoughts at a low frequency for only Inoue's ears to hear. ❛ I'm sorry if this hasn't been the... most pleasant of experiences, but I believe the mistletoes sprung around all of the entrances and exits would have eventually led to something similar anyway. With that in mind... please be careful when making your way through the rest of the offices if you would rather not be approached in this manner again --- by any of our colleagues. It appears to me that most of them have decided to clock in today of all days. ❜

Oh yes, Sonia is prone to making excuses to avoid kissing someone for two reasons: One, they're unpleasant and she simply does not wish to kiss them in the first place. Or two, they are friends and she does not wish to make them uncomfortable.

She grew up with plenty of rules, some of which pertaining to social gatherings and graces. Being 'too forward' is highly frowned upon in order to keep unflattering rumors from spreading about her morals, or lack of them. Despite living in the 21st Century (and having some things looked past, like not having to be a virgin upon her wedding day), Sonia is still expected to be polite, demure, reserved, patient, and pleasant. No matter how much she would, in some instances, like to kiss someone. She also benefits(?) of having the worst instincts of understanding when someone else possesses feelings for her, barring them saying it directly.

She understands when Kazuichi Soda is infatuated with her. She seemingly doesn't understand when anyone else is in love with her. Part of it is her immediate assumption that 'Oh, that person is just being nice! They couldn't possibly, actually, love me and everything that comes with me,' and part of it is the aforementioned rules that have been drilled into her head since she was a child (also see: table settings and dining, posture, handwriting, appropriate speech, dancing, etc.).

Of course, if the person under the mistletoe is the person they're dating/engaged/married to? They're getting kisses. Best not to retaliate and simply accept them.

hi! so, match of the season actually is already a part 2! it's the sequel to a sfw fic on my other blog junkissed. i don't currently have anything more planned for them but i suppose if a lot of ppl really want it, i can give it another look? right now i have a 1k event going on and jun is being psycho so i'm focusing all my energy into those asks rn but if there's enough interest i can try revisiting them again. i thought i wrapped up their story pretty well so there may not be much else i can add, but i really appreciate your interest and i'm so happy you enjoyed reading it because it's honestly one of my favorite fics i've written!! it's very much in my writing style so it's very likely that i'll write similar fics in the future, but for these characters specifically i'm not too sure if i have enough ideas for them to write another part :/ if there's anything specific you'd like to see from them send another ask and i'll definitely take note in case i do attempt another part but tbh the chances are low and i don't wanna get your hopes up if i end up deciding not to :(

i may be an idiot but personally i think i have some excellent ideas, particularly when it comes to holiday decor

for example, i think that instead of the mistletoe (tired, overused, toxic to cats) we should hang toast from the ceiling
