Training at the Wu Shi Academy was tougher than it seemed. At first when Lord Liu Kang had approached them, (Y/n) was weary. However, the god had proven to be quite convincing and so (Y/n) had begrudgingly agreed.

One thing was for sure, those monks knew how to pick their location. The Wu Shi Academy was simply jawbreaking. Whether it was from the cherry blossoms or the traditional Chinese structure, everything around the temple left whoever came gawking.

What the god hadn’t predicted once every potential champion gathered at the academy, was for two of them to get into an rivalry instantly. Since day one, Kung Lao and (Y/n) were at each other’s throats. Most of the time, Lao would be the one to instigate the verbal back and forth. Until one day, (Y/n) got fed up with the snarky comments of the other man and took things physical. Did Kung Lao learn his lesson after this? Of course not. It seemed the man was fueled even more by it.

This went on for weeks, even months. So much so that whenever they would fight, Johnny would roll his eyes announcing to the rest of the group that the “old married couple was bickering again”.

Eventually, Lord Liu Kang decided to intervene.

That’s how (Y/n) found themselves forced into a sparring match against Kung Lao. This time, their kombat would be supervised by the god himself. Of course, Johnny did not want to miss such a thing and forced Kenshi to come along. Raiden was also present if only to try and calm his brother down if such need arose.

Round one was given to (Y/n) after a well thrown uppercut had knocked Kung Lao out for a few seconds.

Round two found Kung Lao as the winner. His quick mastery of his new weapon had offered him the unpredictability.

Down to the last round, both kombatant were bruised and slightly exhausted. Each looking into the other's eyes, determined to show the other who was truly the best.

“I promise not to go too hard on you” Kung Lao said snuggly.

“Oh but I like it hard” Came the smooth response of (Y/n) which made the farmer freeze.

Behind them, Johnny whistled. The tip of Kung Lao’s ears changed to a barely visible shade of red. Glaring at the superstar, Kung Lao readied himself for the last match

Once the countdown had reached zero and the two kombatant were on each other, (Y/n) took advantage of the new found shyness of the other. Flirty remarks flew out of their mouth whenever they could. Surprisingly, Kung Lao would join in the flirting. He wasn’t bad either.

Kung Lao fell to the ground, raising sand as he landed. Although he was quickly back on his feet, they couldn’t help themselves.

“You know, you’d look good underneath me.”

More whistling in the back, but they didn’t pay it any attention. Their eyes were laser focused on Kung Lao, enjoying the way their flirting seemed to affect the other. This went on and on, until Kung Lao misplaced his left leg a tad bit too far apart from the other, giving them the opportunity to make their fatal blow.

“(Y/n)’s win.”

Approaching the sulking Lao, they extended their hand toward the man.

“Better luck next time, handsome.”

Accepting the offered hand, Kung Lao tried to regain his snarky attitude. For the first time since their arrival, (Y/n) gave him a genuine smile.

“ I think we started on the wrong foot, how about we try again?”

Only now realising that he had yet to let go of their hand, Kung Lao squeezed it gently before letting it go.

“Sounds good to me.”

Later, during the night’s diner, Kung Lao would be victim to the teasing of one annoying superstar. Even Raiden joined in as well as Kenshi. Ah the betrayal, Kung Lao swore he would get his revenge on them one day.

Liu Kang

Being a god, he had seen his fair share of unusual things, big and small, yet even this took him by surprise. Walking through the woods near the Wu Shi Academy, his bright glowing eyes took in the serene environment around him, centering his mind and relieving the stress simultaneously.

It wasn't long before he was stopped in his tracks, a bewildering sight before him, a sleek black panther. Your fur bristled down your back, your ears folded as you bared your sharp canines to him in fear. Your fur was slightly tinted red, flesh wedged between your teeth, and a brown leather strap circled your neck. A now broken chain connected to a loop in the collar, a gash severed your side in your fight for freedom. You were once a pet, a toy, your existence solely for the entertainment of humans, your mother slaughtered in front of you and your siblings sold at auctions. You were subjected to cruelty, the sick treatment of your kind made your stomach churn, you weren't about to let it happen again.

You bared your teeth once more, a deep guttural hiss left your throat, this human was strange, his eyes bright like headlights. If you weren't so afraid, you would be curious, his aura felt..safe, comfortable, yet you didn't let up on your defenses. You didn't dare move, the gash on your side stinging and irritated. Dirt festered the wound further from your earlier scuffle with your captors.

The human put his hands up, kneeling down to your level with a smile. He didn't move forward yet strangely, he didn't run away in fear. You nearly gave in to your curiosity, but the memories of similar behavior from your captors only to be met with betrayal lingered in the back of your mind, freezing you in place. Your hissing ceased, your breathing still rapid, reflecting your inner battle and fear for your life.

“I mean you no harm.” Just his voice in itself brought you a small amount of peace. Slowly, you stepped closer towards him. Your nose held high to sniff the scent carried through your nostrils from the gentle breeze of the forest. He didn’t smell like your captors, no, quite the opposite. Sensing your unease, he stood, taking a small step back. “Come, let us tend to those wounds.” As he began retreating where he came, you followed silently behind.

Raiden and Kung Lao

“No way, that has to be a beetle!” Kung Lao brought his finger to point at the small bug, having harshly removed it from its cozy home while farming. “Look at that, see?” He gestures to the shiny bit on the back, “definitely a beetle.” Raiden rolled his eyes at his antics, “we have more important things than this debate, Kung Lao.” He tilts his head, raising a brow at his best friend. “Oh come on Raiden, just admit that I’m right,” Kung Lao brought one hand to sit on his hip, while the other gripped the hoe, leaning his weight on it slightly. Raiden didn’t even entertain the idea. Instead, he simply rolled his eyes before resuming his vigorous harvest of cabbages.

Kung Lao had a witty reply at the tip of his tongue, ready to further irritate his friend. Until a sudden commotion reached their ears, causing them to perk up and look to eachother with confusion. In the center of the village, a crowd had formed. Various villagers stood in a circle with their arms raised in defense at the thing in the center of it. Children who were once playing, now cower inside their homes. “What’s going on here?” Raiden asked, a villager running in fear had stopped to answer him, “tiger!” Perplexed, the two men looked to each other before pushing their way through to the center. The villager certainly wasn’t lying, there in the center of the group was a tiger, whipping around with massive teeth bared in defense. Its ears were flattened, stature low as if ready to run at any moment. It didn’t seem to be looking to hurt anyone, more like it looked afraid and confused.

Raiden and Kung Lao pushed further towards the center, standing before you with outstretched arms and palms foreword to convey their means for peace. “Everyone stand back,” Kung Lao ordered, not once taking his eyes off you. They didn’t look at you in fear, their eyes wide in both shock and awe. What a magnificent creature, Raiden thought to himself while he admired your stripes and fearsome display. The group surrounding you slowly became more sparse and spaced out, easing your stress only a little. You brought your focus to the two in front of you, another guttural warning sent their way. “It is okay, we mean you no harm,” Raiden took a small step towards you, hoping that if you were to run away from him that it would be in the direction of the nearby forestry. You were not hurt, but had followed a goat towards the village and had been found by terror ridden villagers. Their shrill shrieks and shouts had coaxed you away from your home and unfortunately, right in the center of human territory.

You never had a good relationship with humans. The last experience being trapped in a cage, poked and prodded until you snapped at them, only to be punished for such behavior. A interaction burned into your brain, forever tainting your view on such beings. They took another slow step, causing you to tense up and hiss aggressively, the hairs on your back bristling. “Hey, we want to help, we won’t hurt you,” Kung Lao uttered, he kept his hands up and held a submissive posture. Raiden followed suit, mirror Kung Lao to, in theory, say they mean no harm in a language you understand. You took a second to glance to your right, where you could see the luscious greenery of the forest, peeking through two humans stood side by side. All you have to do is wait for the right moment, and bolt for safety between them.

Raiden could see you look, he glanced as well to meet where you were looking. He knew what you wanted, and was willing to help. He pointed slowly towards the two in your way, still keeping a heavy gaze in your direction, “you two, move to the side — slowly.” They did just that, moving at a snails pace to avoid causing you further panic. All the while, you were stiff and still, unsure and frankly, feeling unsafe. Raiden gestured to where you were looking with a steady hand, “we won’t hurt you,” he spoke softly. You stayed completely still for a moment, weighing your options and stalling out of fear. Was this a trick? Humans always play tricks, but what other options do you have?

With a surge of adrenaline, you burst into a sprint towards the entrance to the woods. As you neared, you slowed your pace to a trot before reaching a full stop, just before the entrance to your home. You turned to give one last look to the men. A small huff flaring your nostrils.

Raiden and Kung Lao watched you retreat into the forest, disappearing behind the shrubbery. A smirk played on Kung Lao’s lips, elbowing Raiden in the side, “so, still think it’s not a beetle?”

A/n: Omg, I Love this idea. I hope I did it justice. Fun fact: I actually looked up some mating rituals which reptiles and other animals do for this, and I got an eyeful, so I'm traumatized lol. Syzoth has had feelings for you for quite a while, how could he not You were so loving and warm. You always made him welcome and loved, a much-needed comfort after the loss of his family. He loved being around you you never failed to put a smile on his face. He loves so many things about you that it would take hours to name them all. Others have noticed how head-over-heels in love with you he is. Kung Lao jokes about how you two will be walking down the aisle one day. Though Syzoth doesn't know what this "aisle" is or why you would be walking down it, but he wants to spend the rest of his life with you.

But Syzoth feels unsure, he has just lost his family, or he has just learned of the loss of his family, how possibly could he move on from them so soon? But you are so amazing though, he can't get you off of your mind. He can't help but worry about what life would be like without you. His heart broke at the idea of you and him not being together, he had to try even if you didn't feel the same. After much, he decides to do it, he is going to woo you and, hopefully, make you his mate for life. When it comes to flirting, Syzoth only has ever known the Zetarrian way. But surely that is enough. Surely the mating rituals for humans are no different than it is for Zattarians.

The next moment he sees you he will immediately start the mating rituals. He'll change into his real form to display his colour patterns in their full glory hoping that it'll attract you, but you just compliment him and walk off. He then will go behind you and bump his chin on the back of your head to let you know that he's ready to mate with you, unfortunately, you just think he's being playful and laugh. It appears that his simple wooing practices is not working, so he takes things up more extreme measures. This include giving you dead animal carcasses (or what you hope were animals) as gifts, twigs, leaves and branches for you to make a nest, he introduces you to a nice cave where you can raise your young.

Syzoth is trying his hardest to win your attraction, even going as far as fighting and chasing off potential rivals for your affection even if they were his friends. He has attempted a mating call, but you ran away in fear of the demonic screeching that came out of his mouth. It soon dawns on Syzoth that nothing is working. In fact, he seems to be pushing you further and further away with his advances. He doesn't want to lose you, but he fears that he's scaring you. Everything that was seen as acceptable or good in his homeland seems to be seen as repulsive up here. This was much more complicated in this world than he had ever anticipated. Syzoth can't help but panic, he doesn't want to lose you, he loves you with every fibre of his being. He needs someone, anyone, to help him. Someone who what they're doing when it comes to flirting...

"Well, Well, Well, looks like a certain Romeo needs my help." Johnny Cage Cage said with a smirk as he welcomed Syzoth into his mansion. "I see after you finish helping whoever this 'Romeo' is, can you help me? I desperately need your aid in the wooing of (Y/n)." Syzoth said with a sense of desperation in his voice. "(Y/n), huh?" Johnny said knowingly with an impressed smirk. "She's quite the catch, I don't blame you for trying to tap that.". Syzoth shook his head at this "I've already tried the tapping, but it didn't work. Nothing I do seems to work." There was a sense of desperation Syzoth's, one which Johnny recognized all too well. "Well, you've been to the right place. The ladies love me. Just look at Kitana." "Didn't she break your nose for flirting with her?" "That's beside the point, what is the point is that I am THE ladies man. So if you wanna know to get with (Y/n), I'm you man." Syzoth leans in, both out of intrigue as well as desperation. "What must I do?"

It was evening time now at the Wu Shi Academy. You have found the perfect place to relax after such a stressful day. Though you could not admit it, you also came here in hopes of avoiding Syzoth. He has been acting strangely as of late, you don't know why. You were worried for him, he was scarring you and you didn't know what to do. He seems to be only acting this around you, why? Did you do something to upset him? Does he hate you? Maybe this was some weird Zettarian tradition that you didn't know about. You didn't know, all you knew you could do was give him some space for now, and maybe talk to Liu Kang if things got any worse.

Suddenly, you notice something in the corner of your eye. It was Syzoth. When you see him, you quickly rise to your feet and attempt to leave, hoping that he won't see you. "(Y/n)!" Dammit, he saw you. You turn around to face him, and as you do, you feel your heart racing. This always happens to you whenever you are in his presence, he just has this effect on you. You sometimes lose your train of thought with his smile, the way he says your name gives you butterflies, and many times you have to fight off blushing at every word he says. Syzoth finally catches up to you, you both stand there for some time awkwardly staring at each other, unsure what to say to the other.

Syzoth took a deep breath, he silently prayed that what Johnny told him was right. This was probably his last chance to court you, f he fails now then he won't know what to do next. He's already embarrassed himself around you enough. "I'm...sorry if I've been acting strange around you lately, I-I didn't mean to hurt you." He says with a calm and soothing voice, trying his best to put a charming foot forward. "It's just that you're so amazing and pretty-I mean beautiful-no-I mean- I wasn't-I'm sorry." He said in shame at fumbling his words. He looks at you in the eyes as he clears his voice "I have been acting so weirdly because I was trying to court you the way my people did. Johnny told me that's not how things worked up here, he told me to talk to you and tell you how I feel...well he told me to do other things too but I don't that would end well. Alright, here goes." He inhales and exhales just one more time before he continues. "I am in love with you (Y/n), you make me feel seen whenever you look at me, you make me feel safe when you hold my hand, and you make me feel welcome when you are by my side. Every moment I am with you is an ecstasy I cannot describe. I never want us to end. I wish to be with you for the rest of my days, possibly raise a family together, or not. All I desire is you, for it to be you who comes back to me, I want to feel your flesh against mine, I wish for you to belong to me and me to you. I want you, every last bit of you." He exhales in relief as he finishes. His eyes fall onto you as you process what you just heard. "Please don't break my nose."

It is a most painful second as he waits for a reply. His heart pounds within his chest, he feels sick for some reason, and his eyes stay on you as he pleadingly waits for an answer. At this point, Syzoth begins to lose hope. I have failed. He slowly and silently begins to concede. Perhaps this wasn't meant to be after all.

Syzoth opens his mouth, planning to apologise and leave. But you act first. You throw yourself into arms. Even though this sudden action leaves him confused, he does not hesitate to wrap his arms around you and hold you close. There is smile on your face as you pull away, you continue your barrage of affection by assaulting his face with kisses. Syoth holds you tighter as he returns you kisses. "I'd love to, Syzoth, but let's just takes things slow first." Syzoth only replied with a nod. The smile on his face said everything else. The joy he felt inside felt unmatched to any other feeling he's ever felt, the future suddenly felt brighter for him and you.

“hi y/n! it’s great to see you. lovely weather we have today, right?” raiden greeted, with his signature bright smile.

raiden was well beloved in your village, and everyone always appreciated his and kung lao’s efforts as farmers to help the village thrive. you were never very close to him, but you still respected him.

"thanks, raiden. yeah, the weather's been real nice lately. i'm glad i can finally walk outside without my skin boiling." you sighed.

raiden laughed. "indeed. i'm glad the weather's been going easy on you."

"i suppose so. what about you? i can imagine you aren't very comfortable working under the burning sun. has it been better for you these past few days?" you asked.

you both continued your little banter for a couple hours, just walking around the village with no particular destination. but little did you know, he had the biggest crush on you, and he was ecstatic that he could finally talk to you.

it was because he was usually very shy around you. he gets quiet when there's nobody else around, it was usually you two being together in awkward silence. but today was different. he woke up that morning wanting to talk to you. he immediately got himself freshened up and went around the village to find you with his newfound courage. he was glad his day with you went well and he didn't mess up or say anything weird.

"it's getting dark. the time went by so fast, but i didn't even notice because i was having such a fun time talking to you." you admitted.

"well, i suppose time goes by when you're having fun." raiden smiled.

you chuckled. "yeah.. i guess so."

you both stood in silence for a bit, neither of you wanting to go home.

"you should get home now. it's getting late." raiden advised. he didn't really want to see you go, but he also wanted you to stay safe.

"okay.. goodnight raiden. i'll see you tomorrow." you said, before placing a kiss on his cheek and walking away.

raiden stood there for a solid minute, frozen where he stood. did that really just happen? is he dreaming? he hoped he wasn't.

he walked home with a cheeky grin on his face, and even went to sleep with that same grin. that moment where you kissed him replayed in his head over and over until he finally fell asleep.

that next morning, unfortunately he couldn't immediately talk to you. he had to go back to work. but he was okay with that. he knew once he was done, he can go talk to you again and maybe even offer to take you out for a nice dinner. he was tired of just looking at you from afar, yearning for more than friendship. he was tired of not having the courage to make a move, fearing rejection. he was tired of being completely head over heels for you, and never doing anything about it. he was always feeling as if cupid himself shoots an arrow through his heart every time he speaks to you. he had to do something now.

"you seem happy today. is there something exciting about our harvest?" kung lao scoffed, noticing his best friend's excitement as they worked.

"the harvest? no, not really." raiden replied.

"oh? so if it's not the harvest... is it a special someone? ooh, does someone have a crush?" kung lao teased, playfully elbowing raiden.

"w-what? no.. i mean.. maybe.. how did you know?" raiden stammered.

"i saw you walking around the village with someone yesterday. is that who it is?" kung lao asked.

when they got done with their work, they both immediately went to find you. when they found you at madam bo's, kung lao was ecstatic.

"hello there! y/n, is it? raiden talks about you all the time." kung lao greeted. raiden elbowed him.

"oh really," you laughed. "i'm flattered, raiden."

raiden loved hearing you laugh. it was like a sign that you were pleased by something he said or did. there are many things he would do for your approval or just to make you laugh. even if it slightly makes him look like a fool.

"it's such a coincidence you both found me here. you know, raiden and i talked almost all day yesterday. it was very fun." you shared. after hearing what you said, kung lao had a mischevious grin on his face and raiden blushed.

"oh really? that sounds like lots of fun. wanna tell me more, raiden?" kung lao teased.

"i- uh... um.. i have to excuse myself to the restroom." raiden stammered, running off.

you looked over to kung lao, in confusion. "what was that all about?"

kung lao laughed. "i think raiden has a crush on you!"

"me? really?" you asked.

kung lao shrugged. "but you didn't hear it from me. i'll leave you two alone to figure it out."

you sat there, confused, as kung lao left.

"hey, y/n, sorry about that. i guess i ate something weird." raiden laughed. he was lying. he didn't even touch the toilet. he had paced around the restroom nervously until he gained the courage to come back. he sat down across from you, hoping you wouldn't question it.

you laughed. "your friend says you're interested in me."

raiden blushed. "me? uh.. i.. don't know what he is talking about."

you smiled at how flustered he became all the sudden. "no worries, raiden. i am interested in you too."

his eyes widened in surprise. "you are?"

you nodded. he let out a sigh of relief.

"in that case.. how about i buy you some food? we're already in madam bo's. might as well enjoy a nice dinner." raiden offered.

"i would love to." you replied. you both ended up enjoying the food, and became closer that night. surprisingly, raiden was thankful that his friend exposed him. if kung lao never revealed raiden's feelings to you, he wouldn't have such a wonderful significant other now. (kung lao is forcing you two to offer him free food at your future wedding just because he's the reason you two are together.)

was there when he said "freeze where you stand" you actually gasped out loud and spun your head violently, nearly exposing the entire lin kuei attack as a test- liu kang literally needed to calm you down with how flabbergasted you were. kept whispering to bi-han as you followed him and the brothers down stairs to liu kang that you couldn't believe he made a fucking ice pun

absolutely appears out of nowhere behind bi-han and announces your presence by saying "freeze where you stand" now. bi-han has aged like 50 years with this.

you told kung lao -who naturally started to say it around bi-han too- and now he's plotted both your assassinations.

"obey your grandmaster!" is followed by loud laughter and patting the nearest person on the back as you walk out the room wiping a tear from your eye.

which is followed by an immediate ice block to the head.

you two are glued to the hip, leaning, cuddling or hugging at any given moment... which was quite the shock to kuai liang and tomas. if they mention the fact bi-han is sprawled out over you with your legs somehow resting over his chest, and his swept over the arm of the chair, he will flat out deny it.

"you look quite comfortable, brother"

"what nonsense are you speaking about?"

"it's not bad, bi-han, you two look cute!"

"i have no idea what you're talking about."

you're the only person who gives the same shit bi-han gives to everyone else. arguments aren't common between you two, surprisingly, (to the shock of all around) but when you guys do fight... somebody's ending up in a headlock.

raiden and kenshi remember training one day, noticing bi-han walking across the courtyard, and then hearing your loud, raging screams across said courtyard as you threatened to use his cryomancy as a dildo so he can go fuck himself. suffice it to say, raiden and kenshi called it a day- and decided to see what new video johnny was filming around the temple.

his brothers thought bi-han pointed a lot at them- babe- kuai liang and tomas have seen nothing! they see that finger pointing ↘️↗️➡️↙️⬆️⬅️↖️ at you at all hours of the day for literally any reason.

absolutely roasted this man for getting his ass beat by johnny cage- but then you gave him kisses and hugs and said "you'll get 'em next time champ" which resulted in bi-han tossing you in the nearest body of water.

the two of you sleep like someone tried to rob you in the middle of the night. sheets scattered, pillows on the floor, and the two of you lost in limbs and hair as your foreheads are pressed together. tomas barged in one morning to ask bi-han for something, and legitimately thought you'd both been murdered by the state of your bedroom. it took you scream laughing and bi-han throwing a lamp from his nightstand for tomas to realize you two were very much alive.

(you definitely wacked bi-han in the face and told him to apologize for throwing a lamp at his brother, to which he begrudgingly did)

you'll say something outta pocket, laugh in his face when bi-han orders you to do something, and he'll scowl at you, growl, then kiss you on the forehead and walk away. it never ceases to shock you, you're literally standing there frozen (hehe) no thoughts going through your mind, but that quickly turns into giggling and blushing. bi-han adores forehead kisses, and it's one of the few times he can get back at you and leave you flabbergasted.

pairing: general shao x gn!reader

warnings: none :)

Shao was a large man, well over 7 feet, an anomaly within those of draconic lineage

typically, men of draconic descent are much smaller, shorter, leaner compared to him

he had been offered the privilege of having his height due to his genes through his father and through working as protege and then general for Empress Sindel

Raiden watches Shao in the corner, unable to keep his eyes off the intimidating man who glowers and glares throughout the entire banquet

it makes the champion nervous that Shao could possibly snap his spine if he wanted to with little effort, and he is reminded of that superhero comic that Kung Lao once showed him

Raiden tries to focus on his food, picking at it with his chopsticks, as Liu Kang lightly converses with the others and Kung Lao asks for more food from Kenshi

he hears something stomp through the hallways, and Raiden tenses up, hand raised as electricity jolts between his fingertips as he watches a hulking figure appear in the doorway

you’re easily the tallest person that Raiden had ever met, broad back, straight back, glowering eyes

you have a large set of horns on your head, curving to the side and up, and you stride through the room with an air of confidence

you walk with a purpose, as though hunting for someone, and Raiden sweats in his uniform as he tracks your figure

the other Earthrealm champions have fallen silent as they all watch you walk through the room, snarl on your face and pupils slitted as you stalk through the room

only Liu Kang seems unbothered, sipping on his tea as he continues to talk with the others, and Raiden feels a shiver go down his spine when you pass by him

you could easily snap him in half, break every bone in his body with no trouble, and Raiden gets an eyeful of your sharpened claws and your scaled body

but suddenly, Raiden sees in the corner of the room General Shao stand up, chair screeching against the stone floor

for a second, you stare at the general, growl in your throat and eyes narrowed as you stare at the general, and Raiden thinks a fight might break out

but then General Shao, softens, his eyes almost warming, and you stride on over the general with that low rumble in your throat

you bring your foreheads together, holding onto the small of his waist and also completely engulfing General Shao with your large form

you’re so much…bigger than him, much stronger-looking and intimidating than the general somehow

General Shao gestures you to sit next to Reiko so that the warrior sits between you two, ears flicking as he listens to you laugh and tell him your tales of the day

he listens enraptured, eyes never once breaking from yours unless it’s to grab more food from the center of the table to give to you

even Reiko looks enraptured by you, leaning in and nodding, and you smile and pat his head, in an almost parental fashion

General Shao has his fingers intertwined with yours on the table, leaning in toward you as if you’re a god amongst mortals, and smoke bellows from your nose as you let out a belly laugh

it’s a scene of complete domesticity and none of the others at the banquet seem to care or notice as they continue on with their conversations

Raiden glances at Liu Kang, who does nothing, and then at the other champions, who look dumbfounded at the situation

none of them knew that the angry General Shao could soften for someone, but it turns out that you’re the one who could placate the scowling general

Raiden is absolutely smitten with you. He adores everything about you, but I think he would adore his partner’s personality. It doesn’t matter if you're shy and kind, or if you’re strong willed and determined. He loves your personality no matter what it’s what makes you, you.  

B = Body (what is their favorite part of your body?)

Raiden loves your eyes. The color of them, the shape, anything, and everything about them. He loves how you look at him.

C = Cuddling (how do they like to cuddle?)

His favorite cuddling position would be the sweetheart position. He likes to have your head on his chest as one of his arms is wrapped around you. 

D = Dates (what does their ideal date with you look like?)

His Ideal date would involve going to Madam Bo’s restaurant. Has flowers for you too. He’s a complete gentleman. 

E = Emotions (how do they express emotion around you?)

He talks to you about his thoughts and feelings. Communication is important to him.

F = Family (do they want one? If they do, when?)

Raiden would like one eventually. As for when, he’s not exactly sure. Just whenever the two of you are ready.

He loves giving you gifts. They aren’t expensive, but he prefers more heartfelt gifts like handmade stuff. It makes his day whenever you give him something. He would show off what he received to Kung Lao. 

H = Honesty - (do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?)

Raiden would feel guilty if he kept secrets from you, but he keeps some things to himself. He tells you most things though! He just prefers to keep embarrassing stuff to himself.

I = Injury (how would they act if you got hurt?)

One word. Panic. His mind would be all over the place, but once he calms down he would do anything and everything for you. Patching you up, getting food and water, etc. He’s at your beck and call. 

J = Jealousy - (do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?)

Wouldn’t get that jealous. He knows you only have him in your heart, and he thinks the same about you. 

K = Kisses (how do they like to kiss you?)

His favorite way to kiss you would be a nibble kiss. He likes to nibble on your lip or your earlobe. 

L = Love (how do they show you they love you?)

He would make time for you. If you want to hang out or go somewhere he would drop almost everything. It would be hard if he was busy doing something for Lord Liu Kang, but that’s understandable. 

M = Marriage (do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?)

He would love to get married to you. When it comes to him proposing, he doesn’t want it to be a big proposal. Something small with a few friends there. Marriage would be great. You two would share responsibilities. You two are probably more lovey dovey now, but besides that the relationship stays the same.

N = Nightmare (what is their worst fear?)

I think his worst fear would be you getting injured because of a mistake he makes. 

O = Oddity (what is one quirk they have?)

So you know when you rub your feet (wearing socks) on the carpet and when you touch someone or something there is a static shock? Sometimes when Raiden hugs you, you get a little shock. He doesn’t mean for it to happen either, but he always apologizes for shocking you.

P = Pet Names (what do they like to call you?)

Dear and Darling are the names he mainly calls you. 

Q = Quality Time (how do they like to spend time with you?)

He likes to be in your presence. Like you two don’t even have to say a word. Like stargazing at night, being held by him, and just listening to the sounds around the two of you.

R = Romance (how romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?)

Raiden has his romantic moments (would ask his sister for advice on things). He would try to make your favorite food, he even asked Madam Bo for help on cooking. I can see him being cliché (The things mentioned in Date seem pretty cliche to me).

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)

He is extremely protective of you. He would like you to stay with him, and use the power he received from Liu Kang. He would rather be the only one protecting. He just wants you to stay as safe as possible. 

T = Time (how long did it take you to get together?)

Would probably take him a few months to confess to you. 

U = Upset - (how do they act when you’re upset?)

He is concerned. It hurts him to see you upset. Will try his best to cheer you up. 

V = Value - (how important is the relationship to them? What is it worth in comparison to other things in their life?)

The relationship is as important as his own life. There is nothing in all the realms that can compare to his relationship with you.

W = Warrior (how do they feel about you fighting? Would they fight for you, beside you, etc?)

He is fine with you fighting because you need to be able to defend yourself when he isn’t around. He would prefer to not fight you, but he will fight by your side. 

X = X-Ray (how well are they able to read you?)

At first it took him a moment to read you, but over time he’s gotten to learn about your habits. Now he can read you like a book.

Y = Yearning - (how will they cope when they’re missing their partner?)

He looks a bit down, but he is able to function normally. Would talk to Kung Lao about you, anything that reminds him about you, and other stuff like that. 

Z = Zzz (how do they sleep?)

Will fall asleep holding you, and would make sure that you are comfortable. If you don’t want to cuddle he is fine with just being near you.

It was a mistake, Kung Lao knew that as he watched from the shadows; peering into the small house where three people sat around a table, drinking and laughing together. He knew one of them well, although he guessed that they weren’t the same as the one he loved.

It seemed like a lifetime ago, but he still had the necklace around his neck, the pure silver one with your initials carved into a rounded small rock.

It seemed like a lifetime ago, when he watched you die in his arms; when he cried over you and refused to take control of The Hourglass until he was forced to. Liu Kang told him not to do it, told him not to go back and to change your fate; as much as he wanted to, Kung Lao did listen.

He vowed to do everything you asked of him, though, and even though he knew that you would have wanted him to move on, he never did. It all seemed like a lifetime ago, as he watched you pull a young Raiden into a kiss, grinning; he must have been the same age that Kung Lao was when he first became a Titan, maybe a few years older.

You seemed so happy, but when Kung Lao set eyes on his alternate self, he could only shake his head; he was smiling, but it didn’t reach his deep, rich brown eyes and it hardly even sat properly on his lips. Forced.

He knew that look, he knew that it came out right as you kissed Raiden, and although he didn’t want to, Kung Lao sighed as he tugged his hood up and turned away from the sight.

Swiping a hand down his face, he looked up at the sky for a moment; silently telling you that you should have never left him, it was cruel for fate to take you away from him, and he despised being alone and seeing you with Raiden.

He wanted nothing more than to hold you again, to feel you in his arms and to hear your snoring when you slept next to him; he wanted nothing more than to kiss you gently and slowly when he woke in the morning, grumbling and complaining when you reminded him to get out of bed soon.

He just wanted to be with you again, but Liu Kang told him plainly: the one in this timeline was not the one in his own.

You were a different person. You weren’t the one that Kung Lao had fallen in love with and made a constant arse of himself to impress, even on your wedding day.

You weren’t the love of his life; the love of his life had died in his arms, and he should have known that. As hard as it was to try and remind himself.

“Raiden!” You laughed, grinning as you playfully shoved your boyfriend by the chest. “Stop!”

He grinned, going in for another kiss as he tugged you closer. “I’m not doing anything!”

“Yes, you are!” You snorted, meeting him halfway and kissing him gently between short bursts of laughter. “You fucking beautiful bastard!”

Kung Lao clenched his jaw, doing his best not to roll his eyes as he watched the scene unfold; for years, you and Raiden had been like it, constantly touching and cuddling and making him sick to his stomach.

He always hoped that you would have seen him instead; he had always hoped that you would see how much he loved you, and how much he was constantly trying to impress you and prove himself to you.

But you never did, you always seemed to be so drawn to Raiden despite every single one of Kung Lao’s efforts; he tried his best to be happy for you, he really did, but it usually just made him feel sick.

“Raiden!” You gasped when he tugged you onto his lap. “Kung Lao is a terrible influence on you!”

Kung Lao smiled at the mention of his name, getting up and saying that he was going to quickly go shower; you and Raiden didn’t see anything wrong, telling him to make up his mind about what he wanted for tea.

Raiden hummed, waiting for Kung Lao to be fully out of the room before he moved to sit you on the table, standing between your legs as he softly kissed your neck. “Have I ever told you how much I love you?”

You spread your legs so he could get closer, letting your arms rest over his shoulders as you smiled and gently kissed his cheek. “Every day when we get up.”

“I want to tell you again,” he murmured, pulling away from you before fumbling in his pocket. He pressed the dark navy velvet box in your hand, and sighed. “Kung Lao said you’d like this one best… I couldn’t make my mind up, I was so nervous, I-”

“Yes,” you nodded, grinning. “You don’t even need to ask me - yes.”

Raiden grinned as he gawked at you, raising his brows in complete shock. “Re- really?”

You tugged him closer by the front of his shirt, planting a soft kiss to his lips. “Yes, always, yes.”

Stood at the bathroom door, Kung Lao wiped the tears from his face as he sniffled, shaking his head.

He wanted to be happy, he really did. He wanted nothing more than to be happy for you and Raiden; but knowing that you were going to marry him, that you would promise your heart to his, it was making his chest ache.

All the air pushed from his lungs as he tilted his head back and closed his eyes tightly shut. He swallowed thickly, whimpering under his breath before he grabbed a towel and gently closed the bathroom door behind him.

He had lost you for good, now, and although he was really trying to be happy for you and Raiden, his heart was falling to pieces as he turned the shower on, unable to keep himself from sobbing.
