I've been watching a lot of Omega Strikers guide videos lately and the one thing all of them have in common is that every single one of them highlights the importance of "just have fun".

That's something people say all the time, about any game. But there was one guide I watched yesterday, and in addition to giving that tip, also mentioned the importance of not being toxic and blaming your losses on your teammates.

This is genuinely the most helpful tip of all time. Like this guide really grilled into me just how horrible having that toxic mentality is. The full first minute of the video was dedicated to that. He also talked about how being toxic and playing w that mentality actively makes you worse at the game, period. Full stop. And he explained the reasoning for that as well.

I've heard this said and yeah I believe it as well, but this was the first time I'd ever had it thoroughly explained to me. It really put things into perspective for me.

Hoping I can improve at both Omega Strikers and Splatoon by keeping this in mind 👍

Ingo is sent to Hisui with no name and no memories. He copes.

Without her anchor, Chandelure fades. (Elesa and Emmet, mourning the loss of their third, will not let her slip gently into the grave.)

Salvaging the Ship of Theseus — (definitely canon divergence because, well.)

Emmet and Eelektross fall into Hisui seventeen months after Ingo’s disappearance and a month before PLA.

May I introduce: Shitty merchant Emmet, who’s definitely not fluent in Hisui flavored Kantonese. One concerned Eelektross, who’s about to change the landscape of pokemon-human relations forever. Warden Ingo, who is attempting to retire wardenship to go looking at the rift bubbles. Lady Sneasler, who’s using Ingo as a babysitter for her three rascally sneaslets.

And a very angry Elesa, armed with an extra pissed Chandelure, as they hunt down Sinnohian legends to get their favorite muppets back.

Heyyy uh so my friend makes swords. SoI was checking em out, as you do, and when i touched one it jumped off the table and started floating in the air and idk if it was always a honedge or just became a honedge? My friend just made it like a month ago out of scrap metal. and like, this isn't your good ol arming sword either, it's a HUGE honkin' claymore

Anyway, it keeps following me around, refuses to leave or stay in its ball (i did catch it), should I be concerned? This isn't normal honedge behavior, right? And, again, i have to emphasize that this thing is HUGE

It's not well known if Honedges are Ghost-types that inhabit swords or the sword themselves, but unless your friend's forge is haunted, it's probably just a wandering spirit that was attracted to the many weapons present there.

And you mmmight want to at least protect yourself. Honedge feed upon living essence using their handle, and if it is a recently caught Honedge that's refusing to listen to you it might be quite powerful. Worst case it might be using you as a food source and you need to get Spirit tags ASAP, at least 'till you can train it to be in its ball.

Saw killjoy au infodump post!! Its danger days but my special little bloody guy is there! When I eventually write it it'll be centered around Adam and it mmmight be chainshipping I'm still deciding.

So the bathroom trap. still happens. adam lives in battery city and to make ends meet he takes pictures of people for people, doesnt matter who, he doesn't ask questions. He's taken jobs from better living to follow suspected rebels and hes taken jobs from rebels to follow some high-profile better living person to get more information on them before they take them out. He stays just off the rader and keeps himself just barely useful or not suspicious enough as to not be put into scarecrow training or something. Because he doesn't like better living, but he has to make ends meet. Jigsaw picks him because he thinks hes pathetic and hates how he doesn't pick a side, his tape says how he doesn't take his pills but he cant even bother fighting for anything. he could do anything with his free will and he chooses to throw his life away and this pisses jigsaw off. so will adam watch himself die, throw his life away once and for all, or will he finally use his free will to fight for something? Because in this au jigsaws motive of teaching people to value life comes from being under better livings control instead of having cancer, because better living is a cancer, really. so yeah jigsaw and co. are technically killjoys lol.

Lawrence is still in the trap too. hes a scarecrow who has stopped taking his pills and is becoming aware of his actions for the first time ever as well as coming to to a family, to a wife he cant remember falling in love with, they were probably set up by the city. He has a family, he has a kid, but its all been fake, does he even love them? can he? and hes haunted by the blood on his hands but he wasn't into control he cant really be a murderer if he wasn't in control, right? right. jigsaw even agrees. but hes also a sick bastard with a grudge against better living so he doesn't care. maybe Lawrence wasn't a murderer, not really, but now he will be. by the end if the day there will be blood on his hands that he can no longer deny or write off as someones elses actions. because to jigsaw it doesn't matter who was in control, lawrence still pulled the trigger. No matter what lawrence does, if he kills adam or not, there will still be deaths on his conscience, because he needs to learn a lesson, how it feels, how to be scared. he kills adam and his family will be spared. Don't kill adam? its his family that will die instead. but how can he choose? two people or one. two he thinks he loves, hes supposed to, but he hardly knows them, or one person that he might be falling in love with the more that adam begs for him to stay.

in the end he doesn't have to choose(well. not completely. the shoulder bullet prob still happens lol) and they both make it out because fuck you. also just so you know, in this au jigsaw is Dr Benzedrine and the apprentices are the suitehearts and that will absolutely come into play down the line with a possible frankenghoul cameo, the franken bit the result of being a victim of a trap of his own.

anyway adam, after nearly dying, after realizing he wants to fucking live, has never had plans before but now hes like fuck it, im getting out of here, im getting out of this freaky city with creeps like jigsaw apparently running around. he isnt taking any more chances. So he gets out, he becomes a killjoy. and theres the whole trauma bonding thing so he probably takes lawrence(who is still struggling with the am i a murderer or not thing and thinks he doesn't deserve this second chance. he'll accept it eventually) with him. i dont have any of lawrence's killjoy thought out yet i'll come up with some stuff later it also probably depends on if i decide its chainshipping and if hes even out there or not like i might just fucking adam stanheight final girl it like fuck it he wasn't doomed by the narrative his hacksaw didnt break or he found another way out of his chains and the roles are reversed or maybe he even fucking killed lawrence before lawrence could kill him who knows, i dont lol. theres so many possibilities.

anyway adam stanheight killjoy. his name Hacksaw Jagger(working title) because hacksaw. you know. and jagger because a jagger is another term for a vouyer and i think thats clever. also adam could be a fan of the rolling stones and hed be like lol reference. but yeah, Hacksaw Jagger. depending on how things went in the bathroom he may or may not have a prosthetic leg. he dyes his hair at some point and to me personally. its the worst brassiest ugliest bleached tips youve ever fucking seen and probably like little liberty spikes at some point because. punk adam as well. you agree. anyway he looks pathetic and i love him. he definitely gets into racing at some point and also learns he has a thing for arson and explosives. so yknow. hacksaw+fun ghoul besties at first boom at some point. i also think it'd be fun if he joined/started a band but thats a conversation for another day maybe another au.

I'm HONORED you'd consider making a video about my chart! However, I had some problems with answering this as Tumblr would frequently delete all of my progress. I assume this is because of the answer simply being too long, which is why I'll try to tackle three layers at a time. I will add more parts of the explanation with every reblog. I'm truly sorry but this is the only option.

Just as a little refresher, here's the full chart! Explanations are under the cut because this is gonna be long >:)

Alright let's get into this!

Layers 1 - 3:

Layer 1

-Seven games:

In total there's seven games in the Mario and Luigi series, five original titles (Superstar Saga, Partners In Time, Bowser's Inside Story, Dream Team, Paper Jam) and two remakes (Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Junior's Journey)

-Striped socks:

On the original artworks for the Mario and Luigi games, Luigi is seen wearing striped socks, something unique to this series. However, the socks haven't shown up in official artwork since Dream Team.

-Luigi running gag:

In the Mario and Luigi games there exists a common running gag that consists of Luigi being underestimated or completely forgotten by other characters. They'll often praise Mario while then either insulting or downplaying Luigi.

-Giant battles:

In Bowser's Inside Story and Dream Team there exists a form of battles known as "giant battles", during which Bowser (in BIS) and Luigi (in DT) turn massive to face off against giant enemies. The player has to flip their DS/3DS horizontally and dodge/fire off attacks by tapping the touch screen. In Paper Jam, there's also a form of battles called "papercraft battles" in which the player controls giant paper figurines, looking similar to the game's characters.

-Superstar Saga on Switch:

On February 8th 2023, Nintendo announced the port of several GBA games to Nintendo Switch Online, with Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga being one of them. Superstar Saga is currently the only title to be playable on Switch.

Layer 2

-Fawful in PIT:

In PIT there exists an optional area right underneath Peach's castle, in which you can observe a mysterious hooded figure. If you follow them with Baby Mario and Baby Luigi, the person reveals himself to be Fawful, who quickly starts telling the babies about his plan for revenge. He starts getting more and more emotional during his speech, but tells the babies that there's no need to worry about him. The player can then pay Fawful with beans in exchange for rare badges. This scene foreshadowes the entirety of Bowser's Inside Story, in which Fawful takes over the Mushroom kingdom, making his plan reality.

-The blorbs:

The blorbs are an illness that plagues the Mushroom Kingdom during the events of Bowser's Inside Story. If a Toad consumes a so called "Blorb Mushroom" they will get infected with the disease, causing their bodies to grow large and round, immobilizing them. The blorbs play an important role in the plot, as the illness is an important part of Fawfuls plan to take over the Mushroom Kingdom. During the end of the game, Dr. Toadley manages to get rid the blorbs, using the Miracle Cure.

-Luisley:

Luisley is the name of a popular ship in the M&L community. It is based on the idea of Luigi and Prince Peasley being in a romantic relationship. The game itself seems to heavily support this idea, as Peasley is often seen paying special attention to Luigi, and Luigi blushing when meeting the prince. This Tumblr post explains it in more detail.

-Gold beanie:

In Superstar Saga and Dream Team you can encounter enemies called Beanies. They're basically just green beans with and evil grin and tiny feet, and they're pretty easy to take down. However there exists a rare golden variant of these enemies, which have a high chance of fleeing every turn. Upon beating one, the playing receives a high amount of experience points as a reward.

-Alphadream filing for bankruptcy:

On October 1st, 2019, Alphadream, primarily known for their work on the Mario and Luigi series, filed for bankruptcy. This was most likely due to high development costs and bad revenue in return. What got the studio into that position in the first place probably were the bad sales of Superstar Saga's remake and Bowser Junior's Journey failing horrendously.

-No PIT remake:

While Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story both received remakes, Partners In Time didn't get to enjoy that treatment. This was most likely due to Inside Story having better sales in comparison and Alphadream wanting to remake the most popular game in the series. However, them skipping the second installment and remaking the third game instead, still seems a bit odd.

-Shroobish:

Shroobish is the language spoken by the Shroobs in Partners In Time. It is written in a different alphabet and is totally indecipherable. The game does translate some words and sentences for the player, most notably the word destroy.

-Beanish and beanies are related species:

This is a popular theory created by fans that isn't mentioned in the game itself. The theory is based on the fact that Beanish and beanies share a lot of similarities, for example wide grins and green skin tone. The theory states that Beanish used to look similar to beanies, but evolved over time into what we know them as today.

Layer 3

-Cover art style change:

Superstar Saga as well as Partners in Time both have very detailed designs for their box art, while from Bowser's Inside Story onward the design is kept much simpler, just having a white background with the characters placed on top of it. It is important to note that the American version of Superstar Saga's remake uses the modern style, while the European version is a direct callback to the original's box art.

-Paper Jam hate:

Paper Jam is easily the least popular game in the series. This is due to the game's lack of original characters and story telling, which makes it stand out negatively when compared to the rest of the series. It had big potential, being a crossover with the Paper Mario series, but barley incorporated any of its elements, ending up as a rather boring M&L title, with Paper Mario as a playable character.

-Carrot minigame:

The carrot minigame is one of the many minigames present in Bowser's Inside Story and it's remake. Due to it's precise touch screen controls it is notoriously frustrating and difficult to beat, especially for younger players, slowly making it gain kind of a meme status amongst the community.

-Cacklebean:

Much like Luisley, Cacklebean is another popular ship in the M&L community, this time pairing Cackletta with Queen Bean. The idea is often backed up by Cackletta seemingly having a lot of knowledge about Beanbean Castle and its secrets, such as the security system surrounding the Beanstar. Queen Bean and the residents of the Beanbean Kingdom also never seem to mention Cackletta in any negative light whatsoever, often just insulting Fawful instead of her.

-Yoko Shimomura:

Yoko Shimomura is a Japanese composer primarily known for her work in video games, including the Mario and Luigi series. She also composed for games such as Super Mario RPG: Legend Of The Seven Starts and Kingdom Hearts.

-Headcanons:

This is a more community focused entry. Fans of the Mario and Luigi series often have a lot of different headcanons, some just adding more depth to certain characters while others change the story in its entirety. Since everyone's headcanons are different, everyone perceives the games differently and every fan stands out in their own unique and special way. Some popular headcanons include Cackletta being Fawfuls adoptive mother, Popple and Fawful being brothers or Peasley being gay.

-SSS difficulty spike:

The original version of Superstar Saga is kind of notorious for having a really weird difficulty spike with the game being pretty easy over all but then suddenly raising the difficulty out of nowhere before having it decrease again. Some examples of this are Wiggler and Trunkle going down in just a few hits while having much harder battles before and after them, Cackletta in Woohoo Hooniversity being a pretty tough challenge for this point of the game all while having the difficulty decrease again seconds later, and of course the final boss being absurdly hard and coming out of nowhere with the game refusing to prepare you for it at all.

-Popple is suffering from memory loss:

When encountering Popple in Dream Team, he does not recognize Mario and luigi at all, despite mentioning how he had trouble with people looking extremely similar back when he was still in the Beanbean Kingdom.

-Geno in the Fungitown arcade:

In Little Fungitown, the player will encounter Geno from Super Mario RPG while playing the Star 'Stache Smash minigame, where he will moderate the game and explain the rules. Geno is absent from the remake due to him not being owned by Nintendo.

Yeah, so after talking to my chat about switching things up next year, and after dealing with like...a lot of problems with Twitch subs (primarily not getting notifications from renewals and issues with renewal dates not matching up well with the streams themselves), I've decided to move to a different system!

First up, there will be NO change to the Ko-fi raffle--it'll still open up the day before a monthly stream, it'll still be 7 slots, and it'll still be $6 dollars. Easy peasy!

29. How do they respond when someone doesn’t believe them?

He just gets really confused. Like ??? why wouldn't they believe him??? If they're just trying to tell him he misunderstood something he doesn't know very well then that's ok he likes learning new things, but if they just don't believe him and don't give a good reason he just doesn't understand. He hasn't figured out what lying is yet he has no reason to think anyone would have a reason to not believe him. If they continue to not believe him he gets really fucking mad because how can you be this fucking stupid he already TOLD YOU

41. What phrases, pronunciations, or mannerisms did they pick up from someone / somewhere else?

Well, he picked up a lot of stuff from Dara and her crew, they are the first people he's ever met as far as he knows. And he doesn't really . know? A lot of things? So a lot of stuff he knows now was through them, so there's a lot of influence on the way he speaks and acts. As for the rest of it..... he...... doesn't remember

Dara's actually not that much of a liar in this AU which is pretty wild for her tbh but she doesn't have much reason to be. She mmmight try keeping Joe a secret from people not part of the crew just cause it makes her so stressed out already she's trying to keep it under control in some kind of way? But there's no reason for her to actually be doing that and it's probably not a lie that kept up for very long anyways because Joe refuses to stay hidden when someone new is around he's like a dog he needs to say HIIII HI OMG HIIIIII

11. If someone was impersonating them, what would friends / family ask or do to tell the difference?

Hrm,,,, y'know I'm not sure. Her crew would be able to tell pretty easily I think, Dara's a complicated enough person and her mannerisms don't vary too much so I think they'd just. They'd know. I don't know if Joe would be able to tell, if she was acting weird he'd be confused but wouldn't really say anything, he'd just think he missed something

25. What subject / topic do they know a lot about that’s completely useless to the direct plot?

Probably knitting tbh. She already knits as a hobby in canon, I can see her going even harder on it in the AU

29. How do they respond when someone doesn’t believe them?

She just won't bring it up again. If it's related to something that like, needs to be fixed or otherwise dealt with, she'll handle it on her own and just be discreet about it. Like oh ok you can't be trusted with this information. And then she leaves

35. What is the smallest, morally questionable choice they’ve made?

Well. She is a pirate. Which involves a LOT of morally questionable decisions. Like murder. But the smallest one she's made was probably just letting Joe be part of the crew when they "first" met. Cause that was pretty fucking motivated by selfish means (seeing the similarities between him and her probably-dead loved one and knowing this would fuck her up and knowing she only is doing this because she needs to know if it's him) but it did also make him really fucking happy until she started really digging into him about his missing memories so it wasn't like it was a bad decision. It just. Yknow. Was a small lil domino that she thought maybe wouldn't knock anything else over. And then it did

Worship AU Emet! The worship au is based off of the knowledge that Emet is, well, pretty much what we would consider a god. In his main verse, he either ignores or outright denies this, since he comes from a world where his abilities are... Exceptional, yes, but within the realm of belief. Mankind was at large the stewards of the star, not a small group of elevated beings. While he does purposefully foster worshipping behavior towards Solus zos Galvus, he uses this solely as a method to manipulate the masses with religious and nationalistic fervor. He considers his true self to simply be as mankind should be, not something to worship but something to attain via rejoinings.

But in this verse, this knowledge falls to the wayside in favor of the simple fact that after the sundering, mortals are no longer worthy to care for their star. Rejoining aside, the star at large still needed that care- if they rejoined the shards at the cost of the planet, the people wouldn't be much better off than they were at the start. The world needed to heal, mortals weren't able to do it, and so it fell to Emet, while the other two unsundered began working towards the rejoining.

They took turns, but over time, it became clear that Emet was the most skilled- after all, a single unsundered being can't care for the world on his own, but Emet had a skill for creating massive, sprawling empires, and with them under his command, the world was much easier to care for. For some time, he did this while using the methods I noted with Solus zos Galvus, solely fostering any worshipful behavior in the name of his mortal guises.

But this particular version of emet ends up getting more of a taste for it than usual. It starts to stroke his ego in all the right ways, until he itches with the need to show everyone just how right they are, he is a god to them, he is a being unlike anything they could conceptualize. And eventually, the standard the unsundered keep slips enough that Emet feels comfortable letting himself slip too.

If Lahabrea can lose his mind, who's to deny Emet the right to grow a bit complacent? After all, allowing mortals to worship him and backing it up with proof of his power granted him even more outright control over mortals, allowing him to better care for the star. He doesn't reveal any machinations, doesn't let too much information slip- in fact, every hint of knowledge he gives is carefully done in such a way that it only reinforces his control.

He lets himself tower over mortals at his true height, tells them of an ascension where they will become the greater beings they are meant to be. He listens to their prayers, grants a few. Lets them bring him resources, lets them conquer in his name. Lets them shower him in gold and jewels and wine, lets them depend on him, lets them praise him.

He... Mmmight have forgotten what little humility he had at some point. But hey, the aesthetic fucks, right?

Notes: due to his nature being halfway out in the open, and having been so for a Solid While, Garlemald (still his center point of power, and where the true worship of him originated though there are ancient remnants of lesser movements across Etheirys) has a significantly different culture and aesthetic. They're still based on roman language, naming conventions, military and such, but their architecture leans greek and early english gothic and various christian architectural traditions as they evolved from the christianization of the roman empire. Think old cathedrals.

MK mmmight recognize the bird??? maybe???? and maybe he could have these one-sided conversations with it (while not knowing that he's literally talking to his idol and soon-to-be mentor) anD in the reveal that the animals watching him this whole time was Wukong, everybody could just comically snap their necks to his bird form while he basically just goes

but just. ideas. people can get creative with the interactions and I can't help but want to know how each character would develop as their future is revealed more and more and secrets are no longer covered?? just imagine that in their perspective; transported to a realm beyond their comprehension, not really knowing what to expect now that the access they had to their powers were gone... only to then be introduced to a whole other reality where they are nothing more than just a kid's show.

they'd be infuriated, no doubt. confused. maybe even a bit depressed and discouraged, but then the Eldritch Being who brought them there shows them that they're actually loved? that people from this universe want to... hug them? be with them? meet them? help them? all while knowing everything about them; from their mistakes, to their faults, to their vulnerabilities, to their weaknesses. they still love them. even if they might not deserve it. even if they don't deserve it. they still do. those people still do.

a universe apart, and yet, we're still willing to give them the love they deserve. just imagine:

Wukong and Macaque. seeing how many people find them so tragic. seeing how many people have analyzed their argument and have deduced that neither of them are at fault. seeing how much these people would do just to help them communicate better. they love them.

Red Son. seeing how many people absolutely ADORE him for who he is. seeing how many people would love to just be with him and hang around. seeing how much people have drawn him. him and his ridiculousness. they love him.

MK. seeing how many people love him. seeing how many people love drawing him. seeing how many people want to comfort him through what he had to go through. seeing how much these people from a whole other dimension would give just to give him a well-deserved hug. they love him.

and of course, last and most definitely least, LBD, seeing how many people want to end her. such a wholesome idea, don't you think?

I tried to come up with prompts that would get people to do something weird! get a little balls to the wall! and it WORKED!!!!! People have made both very fuzzy fluffy fills as well as stuff that aches a little to think about. It's been good! theres even been stuff thats out of *my* wheelhouse and i love that, makes things feel a little more lived-in fandomwise.
