beautiful spot foil on the front cover plus guilded pages??? hell yes. hes a weighty boy for his size and *feels* incredibly luxurious in ways book nerds are sure to appreciate plus the art is absolutely gorgeous

very soft, sketchy style evocative of like 60s and 70s animation. every bit ive peeped at so far has been gorgeous but not super tightly cleaned like a lot of modern comics, so it feels really organic and raw, even at a glance. vvv refreshing

i preordered on a whim back in like, march when the announcement from @silversprocket crossed my feed and i have Zero regerts. i cannot wait to dive in and actually read it

i found a weird CD recently on the ground and turns out the Magic Almanac became a late 90's/early 2000's CD-ROM game for the PC so heres some screencaps I took because it reminds me of jumpstart games i played in elementary school!

So after you enter your name, you're in Mary's room and there's things to do in classic point-and-click fashion such as the bunny changing color or the toy box in the back. The bookshelf on the left has little stories from around the world, but the other book on the bottom right is where all the fun begins!

So you enter Friendship Manor and are greeted by areas reflecting the world: Hall Americas, Hall Europe, Hall Asia, and Hall Africa. So I decided to see what Austria has for me and it turns out it's just a regular ol' music making game and Austria also teaches you about important composers and musical instruments. But apparently if you click his curl he slaps your cursor away and gives you a mean old stare, which probably traumatized whoever was playing this. Also Prussia says funny things when you click him. Probably to help cheer up the person behind the computer for clicking Austria's curl.

Next we got Italy's section where it's kind of obvious we're making art in here. turns out i too am very childish like a youtuber I like called Lazy Game Reviews and just drew mochis and wrote Farts on it while Mary tells me my art is the most amazing drawing she ever saw. I had the option to print this out but I do not have a printer that works with such old software!

Last screenshot for now but there's a fun game where you help Germany and Mary bake cookies! Germany is too sweet in this, he's telling you what ingredients to give to Mary and always reminds you to have a parent or guardian to help you bake cookies in real life!! It's very cute and there's other parts other than giving Mary ingredients like mixing everything up and making sure the baking time is right!

There's so much more in this game I wanna explore, so hopefully I will grab some more screenshots when I can and try to play all the games for your entertainment :o)

Sometimes I talk to the glass octopuses or something while I'm tidying up their homes or otherwise dusting them off. I apologize if I almost drop them.

Jokyou Seikatsuroku Ichijou: chapter 2 review

A very good chapter with backstory and some sentimental scenes, as well as disturbing moments. Pictures and description below...

People who can't handle dark words should avoid it...

Chapter 2: History

Backstory chapter about how Ichijou and Murakami moved from Okayama prefecture to Ooyama Tokyo. (I know Okayama and Ooyama sound similar but they are different). This is 9 months prior to the brunch scene in chapter 1.

They're on the bus together. Are they holding hands!?

Ichijou likes the window seat. He seems like a window-seat type. I like Ichijou's hand on cheek. Very effeminate pose. The "dreamy pose" (full of dreams) or teasingly called the "toothache pose".

Look, it's these three assholes. The three bullies who teased poor Ichijou about not going to university. They also apparently bullied Murakami about droping out of school.

If they hadn't bullied Ichijou in high school, he wouldn't be so screwed up today. Bullying doesn't build character, it breaks character. If it were up to me, I would protect him from these three jackasses. They actually have names, but I forgot them.

Ichijou also says that those guys went to university which he calls only a 4-year moratorium. He is trying to make himself feel better about not going to university. It is apparently due to financial issues, like many had expected (revealed in a later chapter).

Ichijou is full of dreams of success. He wants to become rich and show off his riches, to impress people. He wants to be liked. [This is much different to his later darker fantasy of leaving those guys outside his "kingdom" to perish in nuclear warfare.] Doesn't Ichijou look fabulous in that fur coat? It's very luxious, glamourous (and effeminate). Fur coats are very Showa era. Perhaps he has taste for Old Hollywood sort of glamour. Speaking of eras, when the hell is it set? They are using the modern technology of Reiwa era. Some people have said it is set in a different timeline from the main Kaiji. This put me off at first, but I was happy to follow it regardless. Will the destiny be different this time? Can Ichijou find happiness? There is a reincarnation theory. There is a dream theory. I'll talk about these theories in another post.

"Kukuku…." Look at him laughing impishly to himself, Ichijou looks so cute in this panel.

Ichijou is smug because he believes that he will become more successful than his bullies, by working right away instead of going to university. "We're going to outsmart them!"

"If you're following me, you must be planning to do the same, right Murakami?" "Eh? Well, uh… …Yes." <-- Not a confident answer. What is the real reason for following him?! It has not yet been revealed.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Why did Murakami follow Ichijou into Tokyo? He looks shy and doesn't give the reason. But what reason? "Love"? Or is he an easy person who goes along passively? Even still, moving to the city is a heavy decision to make, quite a gamble you could say. We learn later that Murakami grew up in a very kind and loving family. He had everything comfortable in his home.

"This is the story of the young Ichijou Seiya who would later create the diabolical pachinko machine 'The Bog'", the narrator says.

Tokyo is a big city full of colour and splendour. "Don't let yourself get overwhelmed! Remember- we ourselves are already Tokyoites!"

They move into their tiny apartment.

Ichijou lays down like a cat. Already, he is making himself at home. I like his crossed legs.

Ichijou says "at most, it'll take us 6 months" to become successful and rich. <-- Naive!

He says he will write in his future autobiography (<- Narcissism) "I started off in a crummy apartment". <- Naive!

Ichijou is full of hopes and dreams. Unfortunately, he will find out that dreams and reality are seperate…!

Fast forward 9 months later. A somewhat decadent, lazily cozy scene.

On the bookshelf is kagami-mochi for New Year, and a scented candle, and a nice plant.

They are both a bit addicted to a gacha mobage on their modern phones. I suppose for someone to invent the ultimate gambling machine, he needs to dip his toe into addiction himself, to understand how to make it addictive. Of course, at this point of time, he doesn't see this plan. He excitedly prattles on about how he can get more gems for the big gacha event at the end of fischal year.

They chose the Puzzle Dragons parody instead of the Idolm@ster parody.

Unfortunately… (Or fortunately for those who enjoy seeing him crying) Ichijou realises he has languished for "NINE WHOLE MONTHS" and is still in the same dinky little apartment. He has a meltdown breakdown as a result. He trembles and it's so cute.

He says that he wants to kill himself for being so naive. THIS SHOCKED ME! Even if it's hyperbole, it's still concerning.

The narrator says that Murakami has witnessed Ichijou's breakdowns multiple times, from living with him for 9 months, and that he knows what to do to fix them. The narrator says that once Ichijou gets into this sad state, he won't recover for about 30 minutes. So, he tries to make some nice comfort food to cheer him. Cheese butter mochi lent by a neighbour.

The cheese mochi looks…. well…. you know… and this after eating hotdogs in chapter 1. Imagine if it gets animated. Seeing them eat something gooey and white like this and chew on it, is almost obscene.

They eat and enjoy the mochi together. By this time Ichijou has calmed down a little. "I'd like… 2 more!" Murakami is so happy.

The chapter ends with Ichijou and Murakami going to the store to buy more cheese. They mention wanting to go to New Year's shrine visit while they're at it.

What a great chapter. It has a somber, slightly disturbing tone with almost no jokes. You can already tell that the tone and genre is very different to Tonegawa's and Hancho's spinnies. ("Spinnie" is my word, but you can use it too). Note that Akagi is a spinnie of Ten, and many people call it Fukumoto's masterpiece, so spinnies are not inherently questionable.

Ichijou's spinnie has many cute scenes but also many frustrating scenes that make you cringe for him. The more you already like him, the more enjoyment you will gain from reading.

I like mochi so I'd like to try making this at home.

If you have to wash him in a washing machine do it on delicate w gentle detergent and don’t put him in w colors. Cold water is usually best for any delicate stuff as well iirc

Ok so thinking about ara again but for some reason I zeroed in on ZoroAra (aka the au where she dies in hisui and becomes A zoroark). Sent her to uva academy for some reason, mostly because I wanted to think about what her dorm would look like, so here's some details (im rambling rn):

The curtains are always drawn to darken the room, and the temperature's always pretty low

She has a few framed pictures, including: A very old-looking picture of her and the Hisui Gang, A more recent picture of her ten-year-old self with her family and the Hoenn gang, and a fairly new picture of her with Ingo and Emmet. Also, some group shots and portrait shots of her various Pokemon.

If the player was to look at her bed, the text would read, "There's a lot of white Pokemon hair on the sheets." (Btw none of her Pokemon have white fur. Ooooh how mysterious I wonder how that got there)

She has a carved Pokeshi doll on her windowsill.

She also has a bookshelf with a number of books. Sitting front and center is a thick book with a blue cover. The pages are worn, yellowed, heavily annotated with multiple different people's handwriting, and have lots of notes and other papers sticking out from between the pages. (Professor Laventon transcribed all the data to a different book and let her keep the original dex when she had to leave.) If interacted with, it would open up a menu that would let the player go to the following pages: Decidueye, Gallade, Garchomp, Walrein, Ninetails, Dusclops, and Zoroark (aka her Hisuian team and her.) It would open up to the actual pages and PLA dex entries for the Pokemon, with a few extra notes in the margins.

Her kitchen would feature a teapot on the stove and a recipe book open to potato mochi lol

the whole theming of the room would probably be light purples, pinks, and greens. I feel like those colors just suit her.

Besides details in her room, I think it'd be funny if npcs would sometimes talk about her and how strange she is. Stuff like she only ever attends night classes, she has strangely glowy yellow eyes, her hair always seems to float, her teeth are sharp, and the way she talks to Pokemon you'd think she understands their language. Probably one or two would mention how she used to be the Champion of the Hoenn Region, but went missing for a couple years and came back... strange.

Ara can't create perfect illusions because she's bad at being a Zoroark and also deception is simply not in her nature. Disguising herself as a human, she can get pretty close, but Zoroark elements tend to bleed through.

The only people in on the secret are Clavell because he's the director and probably should know, Nurse Miriam because what if Ara gets hurt and needs her help or something, and Jacq because he's her uncle. Raifort is probably on to her but doesn't know anything for certain. Oh and dammit Geeta would probably have to know but I hate Geeta so we'll ignore that fact

Its a little awkward, technically being a Pokemon who trains Pokemon, but she talks it out with the Pokemon she catches and makes sure they're cool with it. If they're not, she doesn't mind releasing them.

Honestly she's just here to keep her nose clean and do the gym challenge, trying to relieve her early days as a trainer before Everything. No missions from Arceus, no saving the world, no taking down evil teams, no maniacal legend-obsessed people trying to take over the world by stealing ancient magical artifacts, no time travel-- oh arceus damn it there's a time machine. She probably gets sucked into Operation Starfall a little but the player would still be doing the bulk

Yeah she'd somehow, against her better judgement, end up on the Area Zero mission, where she'd have to reveal her secret to the player, Nemona, Arven, and Penny. But honestly they're cool with it. Fluffy

Tamako and Anko's bedroom - Tamako Market (Kyoto Animation, 2013)

In Tamako Market, titular character and protagonist Tamako Kitashirakawa and her little sister, Anko, share a bedroom. It is a large, upstairs room that sits above Tamaya, the mochi shop run by the Kitashirakawa family.

The room is divided in half by a large curtain. Two more sets of curtains are hung across the windows facing the path that lines the Usagiyama shopping district. Each girl has her own bed, wardrobe, vanity, desk, bookshelf, and rug in their respective halves of the room. None of these items are identical, and reflect each of the girls' ages and sense of style.

The Kitashirakawa family seem to love color, and have no issue with adorning their walls with whimsical drawings. You can see a few pictured on Anko's side of the room in these sets of screencaps; however, even more can be spotted throughout their home, including on the walls of the stairway leading up to Tamako and Anko's room, and in their dining area. This not only shows how long and happily they've lived in their home, but that they are a kind and loving family overall.

Every space in Tamako Market is filled with beautiful little details, and the message repeated throughout the show is: "Everybody loves somebody."

Specifically a Red Riot Lego set half built, a Deku action figure and Creati play dough.

"Who the fuck brings so much crap to someone's house, I swear the ever loving fuck if that play dough got on the rug-" "Katsuki were in here!" As katuski's rant is paused for the time being, he makes his way into the guest room, he see's you and your nephew on the bed as you brush through his wet hair. "Hi..uh what's your name again?" "Katsuki!" "What I can't remember all your families names theres too many" katsuki says in defence. "Its f/n" your nephew says as he whines at you tugging on his hair "hey hey I'm almost done, after that can you go get comfy into your new pyjamas for me?" You say as you finish drying his hair.

"Katsuki can go grab f/n pyjamas from the bathroom I left them in there" you say as you put the dirty towel into the laundry bin "sure"" katsuki says as he makes his way into the bathroom, he sees the last of the bubbles from the clearly fun bath time left over. He grabs the dinosaur themed pyjamas as he steps on a floppy bath toy "ah what the fu-" "katsuki" y/n says with a tone that katsuki now knows he is to behave "what?! Theres shit everywhere-" "don't curse confront on f/n he will copy you!" y/n says as she takes the pyjamas and sets them out for f/n.

Katsuki is finishing up on cooking dinner, as he looks over at you and your nephew cuddled up on the couch as you read him a story from the bookshelf. As Katsuki watches how you speak in a calm tone as you brush your fingers through f/n's hair. He realises how your demeanor changed from not only 20 minutes prior in the bathroom. How did you go from threatening girlfriend to now soothing mother-

It hit him. Your acting like a motherly figure to the little boy. A small cry takes Katsuki out of his train of thought as he looks at your nephew about to cry as he shows you his paper cut on his finger "oh no! Let me go get a plaster, I'll he right back" you say as you go grab a 'magic plaster' .

"Would you like a glow in the dark Chargebolt one or a scratch n sniff Dynamight one?" "Dynamight!" "Hold on since when did I have scratch n sniff plasters?! and what the fuc- Fudge! Fudge does it smell like?!" Katsuki managed to save himself from cursing, but seriously who makes scratch n sniff plasters?

"It smells like caramel" f/n says as he watches y/n place the plaster on his finger. Y/n kisses it better . "Is it okay now?" "Yeah" f/n says as he makes his way over to the table waiting for dinner. "He's so cute" y/n says as she plates up the dinner "yeah yeah he's no brat for sure" katsuki peers over to see f/n is sitting quietly as he scratches his plaster and then sniffs it after "jesus might need to check with my merch management to see if we have anymore weird shit-" katsuki mumbles as he sits down to eat

Time passes as you all start to get ready for bed. You have a quick shower as f/n finishes watching the show on the tv. Katsuki is finishing up emails.

As y/n tucks f/n into the spare bed she starts to read him a story. She whispers so if he is to fall asleep during the book she won't wake him.

Katsuki gets suspicious as he hasn't heard anything in a while coming from the guest room. He makes his way over incase he wakes f/n. Katsuki peeps his head into the room to only see y/n fast asleep with f/n cuddled up to her side as the book long forgotten on the bed. Katsuki has a clouded look in his eyes as many thoughts are running through is mind

'She's so good with kids, no hassle at all'

I've had this Canada Mochi for 12 years and have only just now decided to give him a wash and let him see the light of day. He lives on my bookshelf and doesn't get out much

This one came with drawers, so everything that was on it is now organized and tucked away - leaving the top empty, save for my laptop. Did this to spice things up a bit ✨ Books shown: Three Dark Crowns, A Shadow Bright and Burning, and Stars Above.

Notes from my stats exam. I had four exams last week so I got a lot of studying done. And my girlfriend and I adopted two kittens over the weekend as well, so I've been busy helping Mochi and Nutmeg get used to us and their new home. I'm gonna have to rearrange my room to fit their cat tower and their bed, so I'll post pics of my study area once it's done. I have some cute ideas, especially for my bookshelf!

[It’s late, and Lauv is staring out the window from her mattress. The sky is a deep violet, and everything is painted in blue and grey, and… she feels a new presence in their part of town.

And she sits up as she recognizes the feeling.

She can’t help but grin as she stumbles into a pair of shoes and nearly falls out the door in her rush to greet him.

It’s been nearly a year, and damn, she’s missed Shay.

And when they see him, it takes an extra instant to recognize him. His silhouette has changed, and his cane changes his tracks in the snow, and when he looks up, it’s with dark eyes that she’s not seen before.

But he’s home. And he smiles. And it takes effort to fight the urge to crush him in a hug… but he’s walking strange. She needs to know that he’s not been hurt, first.

He shakes his head as she opens her mouth for a question, and she nods. Conversation can wait for now- he’s likely had a very long walk.

It wouldn’t have been so long if he’d taken someone with him, but… he wanted to do this on his own.

Once they make it in the door, he’s digging around in his cloak- it’s a new cloak, and it sits on him differently than she’d seen him before- and he pulls out a small box. It’s about as long as his hand, and there are swirling vines carved into the wood. And he hands it to her, and it hums against the pads of her fingers. And the hinges creak as she opens it, and she parts the paper inside to see what looks to be a glass bauble, with colored smoke swirling in the center. And when she takes it into her hands, it hums and warms and the smoke takes shape- something resembling a mountain, with a dragon waving through the clouds above, and trees swaying at its base. And after a moment, it shifts, to a ship rocking on the ocean’s surface. Another moment, and it’s a spire, with smoke billowing from a window.

She puts everything aside to give his hand a gentle squeeze, and he closes his eyes and leans forward until his cheek meets her arm.

She’s careful about hugging him, and very nearly recoils when she feels something under his cloak move, fairly significantly. She moves enough for him to notice, though, because he steps back to shrug out of his outermost layers, and he flexes a set of wings that he certainly didn’t have when he left. The feathers are the color of the midnight sky, and they shine like a frozen lake, and standing there, he looks oddly ethereal, even with the bags that have set in under his eyes.

From this close, she can see the faint scars at the corners of his eyes, and the shake in the hand where he holds his cane, and the thin band of white that lines each of his pupils.

She can ask him about everything later. After he’s rested enough to have his words back. So for now, she kisses the top of his head, and makes a mental note of how one of his new horns taps her cheek- she’ll need to avoid those, now, when she does this. And she offers him a hand as he pushes himself back up from where he had been leaning on the bookshelf.]
