Fear vs War 2

Fright Knight was in Gotham trying to find his target. The clown was in Arkham, so he was going for the Scarecrow. He was hoping to find him before the rogue could spread any Artificial Fear. He was going for the Scarecrow's Minions, who preferred to go by goons, hoping to scare his location from them. when mortals meet him it triggered the 'fight or flight' instinct, as he was Phobos a God of fear. But in Gotham this was only a hinderance, because everyone choose fight. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.

Fright Knight: *trying to scare some info from a goon*

Orphan:...*Waves her hand to get his attention*

Fright Knight: *startled but doesent jump* Can i help you?

Orphan: *signs*

Fright Knight: I can speak all languages, but not sign language. Truly a flaw in Divinity.

Spoiler: She's asking who you are and what are you doing here?

Fright Knight: I am Fright Knight! Greek god of Fear and Right hand to the Ghost King. I am here to punish the rogue know as Scarecrow for his crimes against my domain. He is out of Arkham Yes?

Spoiler: He's in the Hospital getting a colonoscopy. Hes like 50.

Fright Knight: i also planned on giving him a colonoscopy. but very well. i suppose ill just have to go visit Wonder Woman.

Spoiler: to avenge you're Father?

Fright Knight: HA! No, i wish to thank her on her victory and introduce myself to my aunt.

Spoiler: ah Ares is a shit father huh? I know the feeling.

Fright Knight: I advise you avoid saying his name, But yes War is no kinder to children then it is anyone else. Worse even...

Orphan and Spoiler: *nods*

Spoiler: Hey i gotta say NICE purple flames.

Fright Knight: Its not really a choice. My mother is pink and my father is black. together it makes purple. I dont suppose i could convince you to keep this visit a secret from the Batman. My liege doesent want his attention and paranoia.

Spoiler: oh you absolutely could- *she stops and puts a hand to her ear and talks to someone on the comms*. Hey lets make a deal. theres a riot in Arkham asylum. you help us clean that up and Batman will never hear a word of this. Deal?

Fright Knight: Deal. now what do you have in mind?

As Arkham's riot continued many Rogues, convicts, and psych patients were making a escape attempt only one vigilante stood in their way. Spoiler looking strangely buff with her face more defined and over animated(jojo style) stood alone. In front of the rioting mod she struck a pose and behind her a black and purple knight appeared. Both of them struck a pose and flexed as a aura of fear and terror washed over the mob making them flee back into Arkham and into there cells.

True to their deal Batman never heard a word of this. They used sign instead.

He's resting in the nightmare realm right now, undergoing some changes.

Hello! Mod Clockwork here! To start off, we have the moderators and admins playing different characters this year to fit the theme a bit better! So long Nocturn and Fright Knight, they've been fully defeated.

The people running this blog cannot possibly answer every single question we get. We try to, but most of us are focusing on running the blog plus the discord as well as irl obligations and Halloween prep. Please understand.

Following rule 1, don't send us repeat questions about if your ask was received unless it was a non roleplay ask (aka rules clarifications/trigger warnings being missed).

Try to indicate it's a roleplay somewhere in the ask. If you would like a specific character/mod to answer, please indicate so we know. "hey Pandora/clockwork/ect"

This is a DP focused event. Asks about content from other media will not be answered. This includes crossovers.

We will not answer questions featuring or focused on OCs.

Only send rp asks to the @ectoberhaunt blog. Do not send rp asks to other blogs/bloggers, and don't @ other blogs/bloggers on our rp posts or in asks. We want people to interact in ways they're comfortable with, and directly @ ing random blogs/bloggers puts the spotlight on them without their consent.

Be polite and kind. This is a fun event and we might break character to use asks that push too far as examples of not what to send.

And that should be about it! Remember this is just for RP asks, this has nothing to do with how you fill your prompts.

So long as your idea is Danny Phantom focused, you can use your OCs or crossovers to fill the daily prompts.

With All Hallows Eve drawing near, and the veil becoming thin, certain powerful specters are appearing further out than Amity Park.  It seems as though two in particular have teamed up to try breaking free of the constraints of the Infinite Realms, enough so that they need to be stopped by following a list of spells and rites; ones proven to banish the ghosts from this plane.

The rites to banish the Knight of Nightmares and Fear are a tad harsh, but what can you expect from that which shows you your darkest fears?

And yet, the rites to banish the Ghost of Dreams are subdued, but eerie none-the-less.

But in the back of your mind, a deep voice chuckles;

"Will you, dear readers, be able to stop us?  Will you be able to banish us back to the Infinite Realms before we gain a proper foothold on this plane?

What is Ectober Month?

Well dear reader, Ectober Month is an event similar to both Inktober and DannyMay!  It's a Danny Phantom fandom run event that takes place over the month of October.  Each day has a theme (or themes) selected for artists, writers, and creators to create with.  The event can be run by whomever wants to, but we decided to pick it up this year with a fun theme! The event goes for three weeks with our blog collaborating with the Ectober Week group.  We decided to do this to avoid overlap and making people pick which calendar to use.

Why Trick or Treat?

We decided to do a dual prompt for every day!  Each day will have a harsher/gorier prompt and a more fluffy or lax prompt. Now not every prompt fits perfectly with the theme 'Trick vs Treat' but we tried to do a varied event with as many fun and polarizing ideas as we could. But it's because some people prefer fluffier things sometimes, that and sometimes it's fun to have choices :) Not every choice is fluff though, some are just creepy instead of horrific :)

How does it work?

The calendar with our prompts will be posted no later than September first, full with each day and its prompts.  All you need to do is pick a prompt and create with it!

Posting for this event starts October 1st!

Please tag posts with "Ectober Month 2021" and "Ectoberhaunt 2021" as well as either "Ectoberhaunt Trick" or "Ectoberhaunt Treat" depending on which prompt(s) you picked! We will try to reblog every prompt we can, and feel free to @ us in the post too!!

Day 12: Scythe vs Tarot

Near half through the month and here we are, Growing in power while our audience tries as they may to silence us.

But in keeping with this pathetic Rite our... guest has sent the masses, I suppose it's only polite to partake in a reading of sorts.

Past | Present | Future

To start our reading, we shall see what fate has in store for young Phantom;

His past is the Nine of Swords; a past full of lies, lost, and pain. The lord of cruelty as it is known. Our guest has had so much suffering in his life before coming to us, has he not? Death and rejection, never allowed to reach his dreams. Present- ah, the Ten of Pentacles. A lucky and prosperous present- able to spend his days asleep and protected by us. Why would anyone want to take it away? Take away his safety net that are the lovely dreams we have provided? And his future holds... Oh dear, a Reversed Emperor. Well, we will have to keep him safe, here so that dreadful Plasmius cannot exert his will on young Phantom.

If that is his fate, why try to complete these rites at all?

But I am curious- a secondary pull for the fates of myself and Fright? And an overall fate for the boy... yes that should satiate the curiosity of the readers.

Fates of Nocturne, Fright Knight, and Danny

I start by drawing the fate for myself; the Three of Swords. Some say a bad omen, but as you can see I do not have a heart to break, only rites to dismiss and a plot to uphold. The second draw, for Fright Knight, is a Reverse Ace of Cups. Events being cancelled, loneliness, unrequited love. We will both be upset should Hallows Eve not come to fruition, but I doubt that will ever happen, not with the two of us working side by side. And finally, young Phantom's fate; a Reverse Queen of Pentacles. Ah, so he is destined to protect people so often he neglects himself? Well that is no way for our guest to be treated- the boy simply needs more sleep. And who are you to deny him that?

Shoutout to @archangeltama for helping me interpret the meanings on this reading. I (mod Nocturne/Dante) straight up pulled these to get an accurate reading on Danny's fate and here it is calling me a bitch.

Nocturne's interpretation on this is... messed up in a pretty substantial way, so take and make your own meanings out of this post if you want :3

Also, the fate for Nocturne might mean that Treat is the losing side, numbers-wise at least. With our stats we've been tracking that seems to be the case but only barely.

As for Fright's fate I joked that he's gonna have that sad unrequited love for his partner in crime, Nocturne- a month long slowburn pining fest at that. (This is a joke btw)

Hey! Some friends and I are running a fandom October event for the second time this year, and we had a quick question because you’re more seasoned than us: Do you recommend repeating prompts from previous years? We don’t know if that would be too repetitive. Thanks!

Hello! Mod nocturne here.

Surprisingly this is my first time ever running a fandom even of this scale and the first time running anything for the Danny phantom fandom. Our other mod has participated in this event in the past but it's also her first time running the show for it- the people who run ectober month change every year.

I would suggest trying to come up with new prompts for this year.

Repeating maybe one or two from last year should be fine, but trying to get a variety is what you should do if several of the same people are participating!

If it helps, trying to come up with a large pool of options to pick through is how myself and mod fright knight narrowed it down for our event, and ectober week is run by a different team of people who have submissions open and pick from those choices!

I'm not familiar with the Cosmic/Lovecraftian Horror...

I researched on it, but I'm not sure if Zombies (et similar paranormal entities) can be included in the genre?

I don't believe normal zombies would count for cosmic horror simply bc of the definition:

Lovecraftian horror, sometimes used interchangeably with "cosmic horror" is a subgenre of horror fiction and weird fiction that emphasizes the horror of the unknowable and incomprehensible more than gore or other elements of shock.

Cosmic horror would be things like horror terrors, things that are incomprehensible or eldritch, things that may live in the void of the stars or black holes, things that cause madness to look upon. Things that may even instill existential dread.

Cosmic horror is, well horrific, because it's less gore/blood/slasher killer and more 'looking upon this being/text will cause madness'.

There's a very very good post about it which I can sum up as:

Imagine you are an ant, and for one moment, you see the world as a human; understand words and hear and sense as a human would But then suddenly you're still an ant- you realize you're still an ant. You have seen things your ant brain cannot comprehend, heard words and sounds that make no sense. But, they are still in your mind and you cannot unsee or unthink them. You now are stuck with human senses trapped in your memory, human words in your mind, but are still an ant who is small and unable to do or comprehend anything you've witnessed. You would be driven to madness knowing these creatures exist and think and see in enormous ways. And they can kill you and everyone you know without even thinking twice about it. And you cannot do anything about it.

Some good takes to look at would be illithids and their lore from Forgotten Realms/D&D, any sort of c'thulu-esque inspired fiction (arkham horror and other tabletops!), and things like Welcome to Nightvale are good sources for eldritch/cosmic horror!

BUT! You can always create your own zombie lore that uses more of this sort of horror than 'they eat people and will get you!!!'
