About Vanitas no Carte and anime-only viewers complaints of a slow show with no plot... What have you been watching? (no offense;)

I think the story gives out clearly at the start what is going to do? It's a character-driven mystery about vampires so of course you're going to learn the plot and world bit by bit as you learn about the characters; I can understand how it may be slow or difficult to follow for some people but as someone who thrives in more long stories that take their time to unravel.... (and who demand certain intellectual engagement, bc if not then I can get bored quickly with whatever is happening in it) I love the way it VnC makes you think and analyse the dialogue and foreshadowing.

The first season is like prologue + start of the first act of the story so you have to exercise trust on the author to see how it goes, and it may be slow? Compared to one season fillers, the manga of this anime is on the way to have 100 chapters or even more compared to the progress of the story and Pandora Hearts, Jun Mochizuki previus’ manga. So of course it takes its time, although the anime went way faster than it should by some parts; a first season of 13-15 episodes would have done the story more justice, but I think the anime nonetheless manages to capture the mood and the principal stuff quite well and compellingly.

Sigh. Well I expect by season 2 people will have learnt, read the manga or just dropped this altogether if it isn’t their shonenish-moeish cupe of tea.

That's what it looks like, also if the moonlight boy is Griffith that means the kid stays for how long since he was able to stay with cascade for a couple of days where's Griffith after that or he dimension different in elfiheim?

1. Kid’s never hung around longer than a few hours afaik. And I have no idea about the rest lol, your guess is as good as mine. I say good luck puzzling out the logistics if this werebaby thing is actually what’s going on.

2. Fair enough, though tbh that isn’t really my thing bc I hate emphasis on blood lineage and heirs and stuff lol. I’d like to think that after Griffith genre-shifted the world and changed everything that kind of royalty bs would matter less. But apparently he still needs to politely ask nobles whether they’re cool with opening orphanages or w/e soooooo dude’s dragging his heels on the absolute power thing, smh

3. I feel like the problem with Griffith’s design is not that he looks too much like a girl, it’s that, the same as everyone else’s design, the proportions are way too childlike and moeish and the art in general is stiff, and probably a bunch of other little stuff that idk enough about art to pinpoint.

Like I see a lot of people say that Griffith looks too feminine/girly/etc now and it’s both low-key offensive because that’s not a criticism, and it’s nonsensical because he’s supposed to look feminine and always has. eg:

Sorry, but I read a old post where a anon saying that "Drama CD 4: Summer Magical Girl Training Camp !!" was fanservice for otaku or something. I couldn't hear the audio because English is not my first language, I thought he / she was complaining about being a slice of life on a beach (I don't see a problem depending on how it is done).[1/2]

The anon who sent that was complaining because he felt these more sliceylifey drama CDs were wasted space that could be used to expand on the Madoka universe and they felt it was just to please those otaku needs with cute anime girls using K-On! as a negativer example, unfortunately they did not know that I love K-On! and it is one of my favorite animes ever, an anime that gets an unfair reputation as being fanservicey, it is certanly VERY moeish but it does not have a single drop of fanservice (As it is traditionally understood) so right from the go I had a negative reaction to that ask.

I think the intention behind those two Drama CD’s was that they just wanted to do something fun, nothing more, nothing else, it’s not that big of a deal in the end, and besides, eventually we all got all the Madoka expansive material through the manga spin offs and now MagiReco so....in the end, everyone was happy, people who wanted Madoka-On! People who wanted more expansive material...so it’s all good now.
