What's your favourite lore stream and why?

Oh goodness… I have done a lot of lore streams and I don’t know if I can choose a favorite, especially if we’re talking about all the smp’s I’ve been on... I can maybe narrow it down to my top three though?

So first I need to say my last DiO stream. It’s one of my favorites for a lot of reasons; DiO was the very first server I ever streamed on, it’s where I met Olive and Moki and Konics and so many other friends I still have today, and it’s also one of the first places I did lore. DiO’s lore was very loose and vague and typically unplanned and improved. But, for my second to last and last stream, me, Volc, Olive, and Dark decided to plan everything out and it went really, really well. It maybe isn’t the best lore stream I’ve done technically speaking, but it still sticks with me both because of nostalgia and the sense of accomplishment that I have regarding being able to pull it off as well as we did with so little experience. It was really cool.

The next one I wanna talk about happened recently (ish) on siege; Mara’s turning! I’d had that stream planned since the first few months on Siege and it took me a year to finally get to the place where I could portray it. And I could not’ve asked for a better group of friends to help me do that. Corn and Cyra did so much between helping me with cutscenes and builds behind the scenes, to their tremendous acting. Those lore streams are some of my proudest work so far and I’m still impressed they went as well as they did lol.

Finally, I think I’d be amiss if I didn’t talk about the Mojave returning stream, with it’s 8 cutscenes, like 8 additional people, and skybound pre-finale-ness. It was especially nerve wracking because my pov was the only one being shown, so if anything went wrong with my stream the pre-finale to the first season of bound was toast. I was so stressed before that stream. I spent that whole week I had off just going over the plan I had in my head and making sure everything made sense and would work out alright, and surprisingly enough, I think it pretty much did! There were a few little hiccups here and there, but considering how many moving parts there were, I’m surprised it went as well as it did. It would not have been possible if not for Heyhay and Art and all of the other amazing cast of Bound. Everyone who sat with me for the hours I spent editing the cutscenes together the night before stream, as well as everyone who was there to welcome Mojave back at the end of it. It was so crazy to look back and think about how three years ago I was writing fan songs for fable and now the amazing people behind that project were helping me tell one of my own alongside them. Just an amazing and incredibly stressful experience, 10/10 (would recommend without the 8 cutscenes edited the night before lmao)

ararararara guys do you know how much I love Gyn (slight spoilers for the Gyn and Elodie (+a little cella bit) on 7/17)

Despite his age and the wisdom that comes from that- in fact, probably because of that- he has a special skill for meeting people where they're at. No matter whether that's Theo, Bite, Moki, Elodie, even Cella. He meets those people where they're at and tries to pull them higher. Challenging their thinking, their morals, their care, their beliefs about themselves or others.

In that cage, he laughed with Elodie. He joked, but he also challenged their thought process. Who they believed their friends were.

With Cella, he was more guarded, but still showed care for the mer who had stuck him in a tiny cage. Gyn is so understanding that it makes Cella angry. Gyn's grown that intuition over the years. He knows that Cella still cares, at least a tiny bit, even if it's brain is muddled by Zipher and whatever else is going on. Gyn stares one of the few people who knows how to kill him and wields a weapon that can and doesn't back down. Not in an angry or spiteful way, but in one of care. A powerful yet gentle demeanor, a mind and body tired from the end and all the time he's lived. But he hasn't become jaded.

Heck, even Cella says his heart is too big. And maybe it is. Or maybe, he's learned that it is better to be hopeful of others than to fall into pessimism and misery. The world is as bright as you can make yourself see it. And it can be far darker if that's the only thing you see.

Elodie has gotten herself to see the darkness, the danger, the horrors of living, but ignores the light. The laughs, the smiles, the true friendships and even the plants growing and livestock milling around. Elodie is scared. They might not know it themselves, but they're scared of Cella, of Zipher, of Theo, and their family, and the world. Sometimes if all a dog knows is being kicked and hurt, then it'll begin to bite back at everything, even if those things won't hurt it.

Gyn is behind bars. He is no threat, and he says that himself. Gyn won't hurt Elodie because Elodie doesn't deserve to be hurt. So those two talk, they laugh, Gyn shares secrets and Elodie does in turn. Even though Elodie isn't letting him out, Gyn understands. And he has faith that Elodie can recover. Because heck, if Bite can, so can Elodie, and he sees that potential. She isn't 'evil' because she wants power... she's here because she's scared, and truly thinks she's doing the correct thing.

And Gyn knows that sometimes what one believes to be correct must be challenged.

Yet he'll do it with kindness and patience everytime. The kindness that will truly wish a good night to a person who has locked him in a cage and threatened his life, who has mocked him. Because sometimes all someone needs to become better is someone willing to give them something to light the way.

I've really been feeling Pat's later stuff recently. I never really got it when it first came out. I was a dumb teen and still vibing hard with the Johnny Hobo and Wingnut stuff. Now I'm behind my peers in my late 20s and trying to get my shit together for once in my life, so it's like, "huh."

42. favorite books

Where do I start?

"Nevada" by Imogen Binnie. The protagonist Maria is literally me in every single possible way, in the worst way possible lmao. She goes on a road trip after her life falls apart and meets a depressed young man in northwestern Nevada who is blatantly a repressed transsexual. CW for drug abuse, autogynephilia discussion, and one mention of BDSM.

"Little Fish" by Casey Plett. Amazing book. It's about a Mennonite-raised trans woman in Winnipeg who has to get back into prostitution to make ends meet. CW for sexual violence, alcoholism, suicide, etc.

"Sovietistan" by Erika Fatland. The author travelled through every country in Central Asia around 2010 and wrote about her experiences in each of them. Some of the anecdotes are insane, and she treats her subject matter in a very human way (which is unfortunately not common in writing about the region). Definitely worth reading.

"Orlando" by Virginia Woolf. I must've read this 10 times my freshman year of college. A teenage Elizabethan nobleman gets transformed into a woman (happily enough) by spirits and lives that way for 400 years.

"The Man Who Spoke Snakish" by Andrus Kirivähk. This is a fantasy story about a dying pagan community during the Christianization of Estonia. They talk to snakes and live in the woods, but the youth keep running off to live in Germanicized Christian farming communities. This book has all kinds of stuff. There's magic, snake-human cultural exchange, culturally-pagan irreligious people who hate the high priest, vicious polemics against bread and porridge, and remnants from another human species who live in the trees and tame lice. There's some weird stuff about women marrying bears instead of men (i swear it came out before the tiktok thing lmao) and some really brutal war scenes, but it's definitely my favorite fantasy book of all time. Better than The Hobbit, and I love the Hobbit. It's so good. It's so so so so so good.

Mokuba was not a normal kid. He hasn't been since his days living in the orphanage. While part of him wished he had a normal life like any other kid, he is happy with what he has, even for how chaotic it can be. That was why he was fortunate to have a designated place he can meet with someone to talk about everything on his mind. He truly was in Tasuku's debt for setting him up with his current therapist.

Considering Mokuba was often on the move himself, remote sessions were the ideal way for him to get the help he needed anywhere he might be. Today's session happened to take place when he was in his office at Kaiba Corporation. It was a joint-connected office to his brothers, meaning he was always close by. It was a cozy little space where he could do his work independently or relax with Mochi. Though, he prefers to be with Seto more often than not. The kid hated being separated from his brother, after all.

Their session today was regarding some of the nightmares he's been having. He suffered them chronically, but the ones he's been having lately have been similar in theme. They were concerning one of his ever-present fears: being left behind and alone...like he was in his childhood under his stepfather.

When he described what he was seeing to his therapist, he explained it in explicit detail. He was vulnerable, crying out of his eyes as Mochi comforted him. And while it was hard to talk about, he knows discussing it was better in the long run. Though, it seems one session wasn't going to be enough to help him with this issue.

And so after saying his goodbyes till next time, Mokuba, with Mochi in his arms, exists his office. However, what he finds isn't his brother waiting for him but instead, Yuugi, who immediately expresses his concern for the young boy.

"Oh did you...Did you overhear what I said...?" That would be the only explanation for this sudden expression of worry. Then again, he doesn't know Mokuba receives therapy regularly, does he? "I'm...I'm okay, Yuugi. Really, I'm fine. I was just...I was just talking to my therapist, that's all."

Remembering the summer of 2022

The summer of 2022 was my second round of chemotherapy. FOLFOX was harder than 5FU. It was so hot that all I could handle was to pull the shades in my bedroom, turn on the AC, and pile the softest blankets and quilts on the bed. I did that today.

The kitties got in with me.

Moki had never experienced the multitude of blankets and softness, and he lay next to me with his head on my thigh. He talks an awful lot, and we'll come to talk to me whenever he hears my voice. I wonder if he misses his mama, if she would lie next to him in bed and she wasn't feeling well.

I probably won't hear until sometime next week about the pathology of my lymph nodes. I think I will probably experience some chemotherapy. Maybe I can talk the doctor into pushing it up until the beginning of August. I have the follow up with the surgeon, an MRI, and other stuff that I would like to get out of the way before I'm going to be sick and miserable.

1. Who fell for the other one first?

Generally speaking, Ryou is the hopeless romantic who falls first, but somehow in Power of Three, he's the last one to fall for both of his boys. 🤷‍♀️ Seto falling for Ryou first is just too adorable.

8. Do they get along with each other’s friends and family?

Oooh, I've made a post like this before, but I never get tired of talking about how these boys build their family.

Seto lets Ryou put up a little angel shrine to his mother and sister in the mansion's garden with votive candles and such (thanks to my "Ryou had a Catholic mom" headcanons). Duke is not on speaking terms with his parents (idk that we know anything about Duke's mom, but assuming she's not dead, I think he resents her for what she let his dad do), so Kaiba is happy to stonewall them as well. "The enemy of my friend is my enemy." And if either Duke's dad or Ryou's dad shows up uninvited, Seto is taking every legal measure to keep them as far away as possible.

Ryou and Duke love Mokuba, and Mokuba loves them. Kaiba cannot date anyone longterm that Mokuba hates, it's not allowed. They get along super well and it's honestly enriching for lil Mokie.

In an AU where Amane is secretly somehow alive, she and Mokuba become BFFs, she slips right into his friendgroup with Leon and Rebecca, and he has a big crush on her. Seto and Amane don't quite know what to make of each other, and that's partly because Seto is weird with women. Duke and Amane would get along great, total nerdy gamer bros.

Kaiba is forced to learn how to play nice with the rest of the gang, mostly due to Ryou's insistence. Ryou's not going to keep the people he cares about all separate unless there's a very good reason for it, and he doesn't think Kaiba has a good reason for refusing to interact with the others. Duke actually would have been fine with Seto staying so standoffish, but does admit that it's not fun when they can all do things together with their friends.

35. How do they deal with being away from each other for a long time?

Ooooooooohhhhhhhh boy. *Deep breath* Okay, SO.

When Seto has to travel and taking either of his boys with him isn't an option, they use phonecalls to stay in touch. Seto doesn't usually do much of the talking on these calls, but hearing their voices and listening to them happily talk about their day and their ideas makes him happier in that "I miss you more than I did before" kind of way.

Sometimes Duke has to go to America for business stuff with Pegasus, and he prefers video calls and exchanging selfies to help with missing his boys. Kaiba won't take selfies but Ryou takes pictures of him on Duke's behalf, which is deemed acceptable.

When Ryou is missing his men, in addition to the stuff above, he will wear their clothes to feel closer to them and hang out in a spot where they usually spend their time. Sometimes he'll drink coffee when he misses Seto, even though he doesn't really like coffee. It makes him feel closer. Then when they come back, Ryou is all over them for cuddles.

And, since you asked for my favorite number, I've become a little... extra indulgent.

33. Who is the big spoon and why?

Mostly Kaiba, secondarily Duke, but Ryou will be a big spoon too sometimes to both of them and it's precious. Ryou likes to hold onto people and cuddle, and Kaiba denies that he's a cuddler, but if he's holding them in his sleep and they creep out of his hold for any reason, he wakes up fast. It's secretly an anxiety thing. Ryou figured that out first but doesn't say anything about it. Duke just loves physical contact, he will go either way with either of them. 😉

48. Who would bring home a homeless animal?

Ryou 1000%. He will come home with a box of abandoned kittens, crying because he already loves all of them so much. Duke grabs the tissues and Seto summons a veterinarian.

49. Do they match outfits for special occasions?

Ryou likes to match Kaiba, and Duke likes to be his own thing. Duke's style and flair are very distinct and don't match Kaiba at all, though they are an interesting complement. Sometimes Duke wants Ryou to match him instead, and that's when Ryou becomes an absolute doll that his boyfriends dress up because he would wear casual comfy clothes every day of his life for every occasion if he didn't have such fashionable men to guide him.

Tapping at the keyboard of his laptop while hearing Mokuba busy snickering of how he was a bit late when coming back, "What...?" not glancing at his brother but wondering as to why Mokuba be snickering so much and likely going to regret asking in a bit.

"You like him don't you Seto?"

The question made the dragon CEO splutter as if this be like a brick hitting him and looking around the laptop with that bewildered expression.

"Even I can see that you like him, why not ask him for a date or something? Since you care of him more than being a rival you know."

"Moki... could you drop it...? Seriously what makes you think-"

"I know you mutter of him when sleeping, you fell asleep at your desk earlier and were muttering about the guy while sleeping. Annnd your turning pink so it may be true."

Huffing when attempting to deflect things but there no denying that Kaiba has some care about the one Mokuba be talking about, "Shut up... it's not like that, get to bed. I'll wrap up work in a few minutes so don't wait up for me." possibly lying but hopefully it make his little brother quit bothering him of liking someone.

"Fine... but it's a bit cute to see you flustered of liking someone Seto, heheh."

"Go. To. Bed."

Brotherly bickering at it's finest with them but he wasn't that grumpy of that being noticed and wondering if he dare admit that, although he had his duelist pride he be so stiff of and just a stubborn dragon to dare say that to who he thought about.
