I absolutely love being an adult with enough disposable income that I can regularly fix $3-50 problems.
One of my kid's schoolmates is dealing with her Dad going to jail and another parent (!) trying to bully her, and she low grade thinks her teacher for her favourite class doesn't like her because she missed some school because of COVID.
We have been sketching together, and I brought her kneadable eraser. She was thrilled.
She confided in me that she was planning on trying to be as small as possible for the rest of school year. I told her I did the same when I was a kid, but as an adult I have realized that even when you feel scared it's better to take up space. Making yourself small is acting like prey and some people sense that.
She was worried about telling her teacher about her pen being dry, and so I told her to take my high-quality art pen to class. I am rooting for you.

Anyone that says 'money doesn't matter' probably don't know the struggle of being economically dependent and how that situation can create or deepen hurtful power relationships and make you more vulnerable to abusive behaviors. Money does matter, money is a complete game-changer.

I don't know how I'm surviving most of the time ... but I'm still alive.
The staggering disadvantage of being a person who struggles with disabilities...
I guess it's just been really bothering me that some people (the rich and greedy) can just watch others at this disadvantage regardless the reason, often at no fault of their own. Not have the same privilege, just because they were born to this family, with these traumas, financials, support or lack their of.
All because you are different, be it skin colour, gender, family wealth, trans, poly, disabled, unable to function in this world that has pushed for so many rules. We have changed, judged, decided so many things to benefit only one group of people... so many things we are not able to change as these disadvantages of your own.
Knowing we could be preventing so many problems if people could work together... if school was free and you could make a good living. I'm not talking just making ends meet or being able to enjoy some things... but to be able to live a good healthy life where you are happy (not greedy but not in a position where you can't enjoy life because your not up to this dumb bar in a world where the rich survive and the poor stay poor.)
Could you imagine being able to do what you want to do, be it building homes, gardening, inventing, caring for others... to be a benefit to our society doing what makes you happy.

Wouldn't that be worth equity over equality?
Knowing if something happened where you get hurt or struggle mentally or want proper education or need health care (and so on)... that you have the same opportunities and disadvantages doesn't mean your only option is assisted suicide...
Are we that selfish and greedy?
My heart aches for those who are struggling today. Seeing the struggle so many go through ... I wish I had the ability to help much more then where I'm at, because this isn't right.

I just need like 20k to reset and pay off my debts and start life. Idk man, it is bonkers knowing that some people make more than that in a day and don’t share it with others.

I know this is a tired, (hopefully) well-known idea, but it bears repeating.
The idea that “money doesn’t buy happiness” most often comes from a place of inherent privilege and comfort.
Sure, money doesn’t buy “happiness”, but it can buy that set of markers you’ve been eying, or a new sketchbook because your old one is finally out of space, or a tablet and pen because you’ve really been wanting to try out digital art.
It can buy piping tips and bags, new cake pans, cupcake liners, food coloring that you’re sure will give you the right result this time—
It can buy books, video games and gaming systems, candles and face masks, nail polish and makeup, cosplay material, and more.
It can buy a vacation to that one place that’s been of your bucket list for years, or dinner with friends, or a plane ticket so you can go home for Christmas this year.
It can buy the basic fucking necessities of life—food, water, housing, clothing, education, etc. I don’t know about you, but knowing that I can feed myself tomorrow, or for the next week, or for the next month makes me pretty damn happy.
You may not need money to be happy, but you sure as hell need hobbies, and people, and a roof over your head, and sustenance.
Don’t be ignorant.
