It’s here!! My new Monstera Albo was just delivered and it looks great. It’s a mid cutting so it might be a while until I see any new growth. It’s rooted though so who knows? I guess I just have to wait and see.

Some kinda random plant update since the move! Most of the plants are doing spectacular with the higher humidity, I'll probably have an easier time with pests (thrips in particular, haven't had many problems with others). However, I just decided to throw away my spider plant because of exactly this problem 😩 it still harboured some and I'm not feeling like taking chances with that anymore. Will have to treat all the plants anyway just to make sure.

There are a few additions like a couple of really cheap Epipremnum pinnatum variegatas I found in a local hardware store, which I'm hoping to cultivate the few nicely variegated vines to make a plant with overall higher variegation than the originals. Also I found a baby Calathea zebrina, which of course had to come too, especially since all my calatheas died when I couldn't treat the last thrips problem in the old apartment (and I actually prefer the little baby ones anyway). Then I got gifted a Pilea peperomioides a while ago and I'm curious to see how that will do in my care (currently it's in thrips jail, although I think the ones I found on there were just wanderers from the spider plant directly above it). Yesterday I found a baby Philodendron White Princess for really cheap (not even 5€) and it was so pretty that I picked it up. Hopefully it'll do better than the other Philodendrons up until now 😅 but the higher humidity should help, so I think it does have a chance?

Other than that I'll probably sell a few cuttings here and there, especially since I had to/ wanted to snip a couple plants here and there either because they needed it or because I wanted to make them more bushy, so there should be a few extras some time down the road that I just don't have the space for long term. Hopefully they'll sell better than my art 🤣 which would be cool and so sad at the same time lol.

The Monstera albo finally has started to root nicely and also pushed out a new leaf already, which gives me hope it'll do well here. It did give me a good scare when the oldest leaves started getting yellow/ brown at the tips/ rims before the newest leaf came out. I still hope it's going to change it's mind about the too much white here and too much green there tendencies, though...

All in all, I'm pretty happy with how things are going currently! ❤️

This is Nadra, she is a monsters delicious albo variegata cutting. I've wanted one of these for a long time, but could never justify spending so much on a plant, but the prices have started coming down and u had some spare money so I decided to treat myself.

I'm propagating her in a jar of damp perlite, one of my fave ways to prop, she arrived to me with an already active growth point, so it shouldn't be too long before I see some new growth.

egy része a kis csapatomnak🥹🥰

tegnap kiültetésre került végre a monstera deliciosa albo variegata, amit még a lakásavatóra kaptam. nagyon régi vágyam volt ez a növény, nagyobb formájában a levelei fehérek és zöldek, tényleg egészen földöntúli látványa szokott lenni, mindig mindenki szívét rabul ejti. nekem egyelőre csak az egyik levelén vannak fehér csíkok, pöttyök, azok is halványak, a másik kettőn még nincs, de az ültetés után várható, hogy hoz majd új leveleket is, ha minden rendben. nagyon féltem a gyökereztetésétől, mikor hozzám került, mert tényleg, még azok közül a barátaim közül is, akik értenek hozzá, és próbálkoztak vele, egyiküknek sem maradt meg… nagyon sok emberrel beszéltem és olvastam utána, de mivel jó genetikából kaptam, és tényleg mindenre odafigyeltem már akkor is, míg a gyökereztető vázában volt, így nagyon bizakodó vagyok. a virágcserép aljába agyaggolyókat tettem, azon van a műanyagcserép, amiben a föld is van, és majd azokat fogom párásítani, így maga a növény nem ér majd vízbe. a földje aroid mix. nem egyszerű eset, itt úgy tűnik a szépségéért nekem kell (majd) megszenvedni, de megéri, mert ha még nő, tényleg nagyon szép lesz, és tök jó érzés, hogy én nevelgethetem már egészen a kezdetektől.

a pöttyös begóniám magáért beszél. ő is piciként került hozzám, én ültettem el, és szerintem most van ilyen tinédzser korában: továbbra sem pirosodnak be a levél aljai, de lassan már kellene. ellenben az egyik levél már a begóniára jellemzően "behajtva" nőtt, nem felfelé vagy kifelé ágaskodik, úgyhogy szép lassan, de haladunk vele is. a földjét picit neki is feltöltöttem a hétvégén, mert kezdett elfogyni.

a vitorlavirágom virágzik. szerintem végtelenül gyönyörű, de elfogult vagyok vele (is). meg ő mondjuk nem túl extra gondozás tekintetében. nem igényel sok törődést, cserébe mindig elkápráztat a virágaival.

a madagaszkári pálmám látott már szebb napokat. valamiért nem akar “haja” nőni, ahogy kellene, se az előző lakásban, sem itt. mindent elkövetek, ami a nagykönyvben meg van írva, egyelőre még nem jöttem rá a fortélyára. de nem adom fel. az egyetlen gyenge pontom, amikor közönséges kaktusznak hívja valaki. ha lenne “haja”, akkor talán nem mernék ezt mondani, de így kopaszon, tényleg csak egy másfél méteres kaktusznak tűnik első blikkre.

az agglegénypálmám nem is fér a képbe, két oldalra ágaskodik. de gyönyörű. nyilván, ő nem túl hisztis, mint a legtöbben, és úgy érzem, hogy az új lakásban sikerült a legmegfelelőbb helyet találnom neki. még azt sem bánja, hogy picit árnyékosabb.

a calathea triostar meg... hát, ő (is) a szemem fénye. ezek a rózsaszín csíkok mindent visznek. olykor ő is tud hisztis lenni, és a levelek olyankor lentebb konyulnak, de kis víz és/vagy fény, 10 perc, és megint boldog.

In the houseplant exhibits of the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show, London, there were several plants of Monstera deliciosa 'Albo Variegata' (variegated Swiss cheese plant) which are much in demand at the moment. They can be a challenge to grow as the white area of the leaf can easily appear scorched (turn brown). It is best in indirect but bright light.
