i did say the golden rule reprise was my favourite musical moment in twisted because it’s a genius twist on the golden rule and sounds incredible but i have to say i think my favourite part of the whole show is “no one remembers achmed”, the song AND the acting/dancing is just so funny and entertaining. okay i also really love the opening song “dream a little harder” like it goes so fucking hard as does the choreo and it gets you so excited for the rest of the show bc it’s so hype and it’s so funny too. okay anyway i love twisted

Cuddling
pairing: billy loomis x stu macher
warnings: implied cheating, fluff, light angst, mentions murder.
a/n: i don’t know why i never reposted this lol
Tumblr media
Billy took his mask off, placing it down on the coffee table in Stu’s basement. He was exhausted, not realizing that Sidney would be that challenging. He wanted to kill her, but it was becoming more of a frustration than he thought it would be. Stu told him he was going to go a different route so they wouldn’t get caught – telling him that he’ll meet him back at his house. Pulling his robe off, Billy grabbed the TV remote off the table once he placed the robe down. He needed something to wind down and something stupid on TV seemed to be the best option.
Ten minutes later, Stu came down the basement stairs. His Ghostface outfit already off him, and Billy assumed it was in his backpack that was on his shoulder. He looked sweaty and tired, and all Billy could think about was cuddling with him until they fell asleep.
“Your parents gone for the night?” Billy asked, watching Stu place his backpack down near the bottom of the stairs.
“Thank fuck, I’ve been waiting all week. They’re going to be gone for the whole weekend. Do you want to stay the whole time? They left me money for pizzas and snacks,” Stu said, silently hoping that Billy would stay for the whole weekend.
“Yeah, I can, although aren’t you having a party on Saturday?” Billy questioned, and Stu looked as if he had to think it over.
“Oh, that’s right,” Stu said, finally remembering that the party was where they were going to kill everyone else. “You’re going to have to be the one who kills Tatum. I can’t do it, man.”
“I’ll do it, don’t worry. Make sure Sidney doesn’t know I’m coming to it.” Billy reminded Stu, knowing that if he would tell Tatum, Tatum would tell Sidney.
Stu sat down on the couch next to Billy, placing his hand on his thigh. Normally Billy was always in the mood, but not tonight. Tonight, he wanted Stu in his arms and nothing more.
“Let’s just cuddle for right now, I’ll put a movie on for us. It’s just tomorrow’s going to be hectic, and we both need our energy. Okay, babe?” Billy said, and Stu took his hand off his thigh.
“If we’re just going to cuddle, let’s go to my room. The TV’s bigger and the bed is a lot more comfortable.” Stu suggested. Usually they were always down in the basement where his parents wouldn’t bug them, and since Stu’s parents weren’t home for the weekend, they could be anywhere in the house they wanted to be. To Billy, it felt nice to be a little more open than usual. Even if it was just for three days and one of the days there was going to be too many people in the house.
Stu led the way up the stairs and into his bedroom, and when Billy sat down on the bed, he wished they could spend their time here instead of in the basement every time. He shook his thoughts away, not wanting to dwell on it too long. He watched as Stu turned the TV on, putting a VHS tape into the VHS player.
“What movie are we watching?” Billy asked, pulling the covers down so it would be easier for Stu to get into the bed.
“Hell Raiser, I haven’t watched it in a while. But I can always turn something else on?” Stu offered, climbing into the bed.
“Nah, I’m good with Hell Raiser.”
Once Stu hit play, Billy laid his head against Stu’s chest, usually it would be the other way around – but he needed this. He needed Stu to hold him. As the movie played, Billy began to grow tired, smiling to himself as Stu began to play with his hair.
“You can go to sleep, it’s okay.” Stu said as if he was reading his mind. Billy nodded as he closed his eyes.
He loved Stu and he couldn’t wait to be with him officially.

On Gendered Storytelling
Okay, so.
For the purposes of this discussion, I'll be basing my arguments on the two most prevalent genders; those being cis men and cis women. There are other genders, and any time anybody tells me there aren't, we'll add another, but this is going to be a broad-strokes analysis which such nuances won't really assist in dissecting, so I'm going to gloss over that stuff. Know that when I say "men" and "women" for the purposes of this mini-essay, I'm referring to the "average" man and the "average" woman. I'll be making plenty of generalizations in the proceeding text, but every rule has exceptions aplenty, especially when discussing gender, and nothing I say is going to be universally applicable.
Okay? Okay.
My household consisted of four men (myself, my two brothers, and my father) and one woman (my mother) for the majority of the 2000s-2010s. During that time, our family got very much into the Marvel Cinematic Universe; or at least, most of us did. Despite repeated attempts to engage our mother in the universe, my brothers and I failed to capture her interest. More than once during trips to the theater to view installments of the films, she fell asleep halfway through. This made sense during Thor: the Dark World, but less so during our viewing of Ant-Man, which, despite several notable plotholes, was overall an engaging experience for 15-year-old Aro.
More recently, mom has been trying to connect with us through communal viewing of reality TV based on our interests; LEGO Masters is commonly playing, due to my brother's interest in legos, and ever since I got more into cooking, we've also added Chopped and Master Chef to our repertoire.
And it's all boring as sin.
Oh, we watch it. It's nice to see mom happy, and to spend time with her; she spends so much time at church nowadays, and given how the rest of the family has stopped attending mass since the youngest turned 18, that means that the reality shows are about the only social time we get with her. And I do like spending time with her, but I frankly couldn't give a 15-minute ice cream sundae who wins this episode of Chopped.
So I got to thinking why that is. I voiced some of this to my parents, wondering if it had something to do with the culture in which we are raised; men are typically seen as active participants in society, expected to be breadwinners for their families and more involved with social progress; while women are typically put in a more passive role, as the caretakers and raisers of the next generation.
My father pointed out that you can't knock the biological component; men, generally having higher levels of testosterone than women, are typically more aggressive and competitive than the fairer sex. As such, they'd be more receptive to action-heavy films that otherwise lack substance, a la the Transformers franchise. I don't love to reduce things to biological essentialism, but I do think he's got a point; we know that testosterone, like all hormones, has a significant impact on mood and behavior.
That said, I don't think it's purely a matter of people with more testosterone finding action more engaging; the shows I mentioned above are all competitions, after all, which you would expect to resonate well with competitive people (generally men). I also know for a fact that many action films, made poorly, fail to resonate with audiences of either gender. Green Lantern comes to mind as an example of a superhero show that nobody liked, and I already mentioned Thor: the Dark World above, just to solidify my point.
I think the main difference is in the stakes. In a lot of action movies, the stakes are extremely high; the stability of nations, the power of an organized crime syndicate, the world at large are all common stakes in such films. Meanwhile, a lot of reality shows have much more personal stakes; the relationship between family and friends, the love between two strangers, the bereavement of a widow. Both stakes have their place; I want to get along well with my family, but I also want the planet to not explode. But for some reason, media targeted towards men seems to focus mainly on the former, while media targeted towards women often focuses on the latter.
And I don't think it has to be this way. There are action movies, for instance, which focus a lot on lower, interpersonal stakes. I seem to recall that Venom was a lot more popular among female audiences than expected, and conversely a lot less popular among male audiences than expected, for basically telling the story of a man and his symbiote like it was a romantic comedy. John Wick has a dark order of assassins operating in the background, but the debut film is just a story about a man getting revenge for the death of his dog. Women love John Wick! (Here I'll remind you of the notes about generalization back in paragraph one.)
Meanwhile, there are stories with very high stakes and not a whole lot of action. Interstellar threatens the extinction of the human race, but only due to a global famine, with nary a punch thrown throughout the entire film. Yet it seems to resonate with men just as well as with women, perhaps even moreso.
I would assert, therefore, that it is the difference in stakes which resonate more with one gender or the other, and that men typically prefer situations with grander stakes, while women typically prefer situations with more personal stakes. I'm still not sure precisely why that is, but I'd love to get the input of others, if anyone wants to contribute their two cents! Or maybe you think I'm wrong! I'd love to hear about that, too! Leave a reply and let me know why I have no idea what I'm talking about! Thanks!

This essay is public, so feel free to tip me: PP is [email protected]/ FU*RAISER and K0fi. This poem actually came out from a visceral reaction I had to the first scenes of Deathproof directed by Quentin Tarantino, which was the obligatory Black girl acolyte being gored and slashed through. I wanted to write both an ode, an eulogy and a rageful cry around the complexity of how Black women and Black girls are inhabiting the performing space and how they are trapped in the abject visually.
Tumblr media
Delainey Hayles as Claudia in the Interview With The Vampire series produced by Rolin Jones and Mark Johnson
This screenshot best visually sums up the poem. Here are some excerpts:
Thick and syrupy, a white truck:
the liquid disarray of searing metal.
They want each other, but they don't want each other.
Do you sit still, a cocktail glass of spongy eyes ?
Everything isn't water
or light;
we keep wondering with fishbones beneath out nails.
and
The glitter and the grass hold us hostage
to a sticky mood;
we labor against the blurriness of our limbs.
In the ease of a cool morning,
fabric clung to the ivy
dripping down the wasteful parking lot.
and
She said anybody could love us,
but now we're sodden
and sore.

Goblet of Mercy
So this year I participated in the Spooktober VN Jam, which is a game jam/contest. My entry, Goblet of Mercy, received an honorable mention, which given the bar set by the jam is pretty darn cool.
Goblet of Mercy is a short interactive dark fantasy story in which you must try to survive an encounter with a vampire queen. It's now available on Steam.
Spooktober Jam Highlights
I didn't get a chance to play as many as I would like. I've basically been living in a construction zone for the past two years so I am doing gamedev (and any game playing I can squeeze in) on the floor at the moment with the lead dust and asbestos for company ha ha ha just kidding Anyway! I did play some and there are just too many amazing entries, but here's a few if you're looking for some more short games appropriate to the spooky season:
Burdock, an atmospheric fairy tale, has this gorgeous and richly descriptive writing style, compelling story, beautiful artwork and enigmatic characters. I am currently pacing out my re-reads of it because I loved it so much - the riddles are a treat as well. Check it out here.
Living With Ghosts is a short story about loss and final goodbyes. It really stood out with its poignant atmosphere and heart-wrenching story. (TBH, this one made me cry.) You can get it here.
Eldritch Idol, for an entirely different mood, is a stat raiser featuring Cthulu as an adorable teenage girl, and it is absolutely funny. I'm the kind of player who likes lots of amusing/off the wall bad endings and man, does it deliver. Destroy the world you can download it here.
… that's just a few out of many entries this year; I still have more downloaded I haven't had a chance to play yet. So if you're looking for some Halloween games, you can check out more on Spooktober's page here!

Best and Worst jobs to work under Silco:
Tumblr media
Best— Tailor
The man has an impeccable taste in fashion. So long as you have the material to meet his requests, he’ll pay you nicely.
Tumblr media
Mid Tier— Cook
Despite being a hard drinker, he’ll perk his interest in a freshly cooked meal. Only kicker is he’ll require a taster. Many rival chem barons would kill to have his job, last thing he wants is to be poisoned. Might not be all that bad. But if someone tampered with the food you’ll be the first to know…
Tumblr media
Worst— Barber
Think about it…. Shaving is an absolute nightmare. His scar tissue is sensitive, and easy to get snagged on a raiser. Very painful, and can leave Silco in a sour mood. He’d do it himself, but his bad eye gets in the way. Much like his eye injector.
And lord forbid you screw up his hair. He’s got a reputation to keep and last thing he wants is a BAD haircut while addressing the barons. And he can’t pull off being bald. He’d look like a naked rat. Put one hair out of place, and your ass is grass.

What kindve festivities might you get up to with them when they realize it’s your 21st birthday? (You kinda avoided telling them.)
Kaiden
Kyle
Steve
Jack
Kaidan makes you dinner and offers to invite your friends and his over for a not-a-party.
Kyle takes you out to go grab cupcakes and eat them together somewhere gorgeous, watching the sun set on your birthday.
Steve wonders why you kept it from him. He gets it if you don't want to celebrate - Tony took the fun out of birthdays for him by using his chronological and not biological age - somehow the reminder of having missed sixty-six years of the world was not exactly a mood raiser. Probably he'll just take you on a date so he can make you feel special without referencing your birthday.
Jack remembers the Haus had a whole thing for his birthday - but somehow they kept it nice and low key for him too - he's pretty sure nobody outside of them and his parents actually know his real birthday, so he tries to do the same kinda thing for you, where it's a celebration without going out of your comfort zone.

The Second Saturday Night Dinner
There was no longer any avoiding it. Penelope knew she was going to have to tell her parents. She was coming out about Little Lime. Her parents were in a particularly good mood this evening, so there was no better time. The mood would be wrecked, regardless, might as well not do it when they're already mad. It might kill them. No, tonight was definitely the night.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Annalise was humming along in their kitchen preparing dinner. She'd had a fantastic day. She had just been notified that she would be getting the first cup of tea at her next tea parting with the ladies, a most coveted position. Her expose email about Florence Darlington's inability to sell all the tables at their next fund raiser put her in bad graces, paving the way for Annalise to step in and make things just so. As such, she could not have been happier; an enemy's demise was always uplifting.
Tumblr media
"How was your day, dear?" Annalise said, looking at Darion.
"Great. Sorry to have my phone out at the table, Anna, I know how you hate that. Parker over at the office just needed confirmation on the San Myshuno contract. I am all yours now."
"Thank you. Penelope? How was your day?"
"Fine," she said, sounding tired. Or was that hesitation? No no, Annalise's day was going just as it should, she was not going to go looking for problems with her daughter. Not today.
"Great! This is just great," Annalise continued. "What a wonderful day."
Oh boy, Penelope thought.
Tumblr media
They ate a few bites, appreciating the comfortable silence. Well, what the Harpers thought was a comfortable silence. Penelope struggled with every bite, riddled with anxiety.
You're just going to have to say it, Pen. Just....just say the words. Boy, do you think there are any 24 hour hazmat rental shop nearby for all the fallout that's about to happen, Little Lime?
Tumblr media
"Oh! Penelope, I meant to ask you how your garden is doing. You're so secretive about it." Annalise was actually smiling at her daughter. Penelope lost some of her nerve, unable to look her mother in the eyes.
"Oh , you know, it's growing," she said. "I think I may have a chance at the Finchwick Fair one day with the flowers."
"Well, I think that's just wonderful. I wish you'd let me see it, but every girl needs her own special place." Annalise laughed. "It's like your own secret garden. I loved that book as a girl."
Penelope also laughed, however the nervous air in which she did so made her father stare at her a little too intently. "Well," she said. "Speaking of secrets, I have something I have to say."
Tumblr media
"Alright, what is it?" Annalise said. She managed to still stay perky, but the glitter had worn off her tone a little.
Penelope took a deep breath and looked straight forward, still unable to make eye contact with either parent. "I'm pregnant."
Darion sighed and gestured at his daughter. "Penelope, now this is a serious topic and not appropriate for one of your little jokes. Now, your mother has had a great day. There's no need to ruin it with your antics. Besides, being pregnant as a teenager would be incredibly irresponsible!'
Oof. Papa, don't preach.

Disaster in Brazils World Cup Stadiums
Tumblr media
The World Cup in Brazil in 2014 was one of the most festive tournaments in world cup history, with a number of impressive stadiums hosting matches. These stadiums were designed to showcase the best of Brazil's architecture and engineering, with many incorporating elements of the country's rich cultural heritage. One of the most iconic stadiums at the World Cup in Brazil was the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. This stadium has a seating capacity of over 78,000 and has hosted some of the most memorable matches in football history, including the 1950 World Cup Final. For the 2014 tournament, the Maracanã underwent a major renovation, with new seating arrangements, a new roof, and other upgrades that made it one of the most impressive facilities in the world. Another notable stadium was the Arena de São Paulo, which had a seating capacity of over 65,000 and was built specifically for the World Cup. Other notable stadiums that hosted matches during the World Cup in Brazil include the Arena Amazonia in Manaus, the Estádio Nacional in Brasília, and the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador. After the World Cup, these stadiums have continued to serve a range of purposes. Some have become the homes of local football teams, while others have been used for concerts, cultural events, and other large-scale gatherings. However, there have been concerns about the high costs of maintaining some of these facilities, which has led to debates about their long-term sustainability. The mood has changed now. Brazilians have not benefited from the tournament commented one high-ranking Brazilian “There has been no legacy for them. The World Cup still makes them angry. There is regret that we even staged it.” While infrastructure costs were massive, the tournament left several soulless bowls dotted across the country that was once called football stadiums. The São Paulo Arena, now used by Corinthians, is one of the few success stories to come away from the World Cup. Other than Neymar’s curtain-raiser, this was where Luis Suárez’s double sealed England’s group-stage fate, Ángel Di María sunk Switzerland with a late extra-time winner in the last 16, and where Maxi Rodríguez fired Argentina into the final with a thunderous shoot-out spot-kick.

For the fan fic ask game:
👻 What is your wildest headcanon?
🐇 Do you write for yourself, for others, or both?
🌻 How often do you read your own fics?
📚 Is there a fanfic or fanfic writer you recommend?
Thanks!!!
thank you so much for asking!! <3
👻 What is your wildest headcanon?
this one is really hard! i tend to see things less as "oh, this is my headcanon" and more as "this is how this version of this character is, in whatever au" so it's tricky for me. but probably that jgy is a strict top lmao, it feels like that's a very rare headcanon (which is fine!).
🐇 Do you write for yourself, for others, or both?
definitely both! it depends on the fic. i really enjoy writing gift fics for others, and i love making my regular readers happy, but i wouldn't write a fic i also didn't like unless i had a very, very good incentive to do so. some fics though are just for me, and i don't even think about how others might perceive it until i'm done.
🌻 How often do you read your own fics?
it depends on the fic, but overall i reread something of mine about once or twice a week. i have specific fics that i read when i need a little mood raiser, even! i usually have a period of time where i'm too self-conscious to reread a given fic after i post it though, ranging anywhere from a week to several months. but then i'm good to go on the ones i especially like!
📚 Is there a fanfic or fanfic writer you recommend?
another hard one lol, because i have so many very talented writer friends! i'm going to leave a link to my (very few) public ao3 bookmarks here, but even this isn't all of them because i haven't finished migrating a lot of them from my other ao3 account.
for this ask game!
