hello! I'm in need of a bit of identity help and from your previous posts you seem like the perfect option ^^
I'm an endfolk(aka enderman) with a love for botany, cartography, and general environmental study. I was never given a name or identity due to not being able to telepathically communicate with the others in my haunting.
something in remembrance to my home in the warped forest/mushrooms/the void/shadows sounds nice for both. thank you for you help!
[???], sem' system
heyyy anon! i hope i did your vibes justice :)

okay okay okay i’m gonna say 💕 and 👌🏻 but specifically for riva/cullen with leah & marlowe!!
mwah mwah sending u many air kisses thank u for the ask.... i am mostly gonna be focusing on riva because we both know how cullen is but <3 he gets mentions
💕 thoughts on parenting/being a parent?
i feel like cullen's gotta have some kind of complex about it right. like the templars have to give you a complex about it considering the whole marriage and kids thing is frowned upon. i feel like there's gotta be some Complex there bc when does this man Not have a complex
as for riva i truly don't know that he put a lot of thought into parenting/being a parent before like. the immediate reality that he would become one lmfao. like he's definitely heard enough stories to kind of inform An Attitude around parenting (if you're going to bring life into this world you should be prepared to love and nurture it no matter the cost) but i think he's also seen enough to know that the idea of what is best for your child is muddier waters than it would seem on the surface and that what it means to love someone and what it means to nurture someone varies from person to person and that makes parenting much much messier. i mean he travelled with alistair and morrigan aka mommy issues: the people like.
👌 do they think they are/would be a good parent?
i mean it's cullen he could hang stars in the sky for his child and he'd still find a way to do mental gymnastics to make himself a bad parent in his own eyes we all know he is forever and ever stressing about being a good dad
on the other hand riva's great hubris is he believes with 100% conviction he can BECOME good at anything and he is historically good with kids so i think he would believe with full sincerity that he could be a good parent, but as soon as it became an impending reality and not just a hypothetical question then he'd kind of have a mini crisis because he's forced to confront the fact that he doesn't actually know what it is to be a parent because he doesn't have a singular healthy parental figure to his name. like his biological parents abandoned him and all of his adoptive parental figures have kind of fallen from grace and he's spent over ten years trying to unlearn some of the nastier habits that he adopted in order to survive so i think he'd have to be like huh! i cannot pass that on to my kids so wtf do i do. and then he remembers like 80% of his friends have shit parents so he's like oh okay so i just make a list of what NOT to do and work backward from there. crisis over. and ofc he goes through all of that without saying a thing to ANYBODY because he'd rather swallow his left hand whole than have a vulnerable conversation about his emotions
i also decided while writing this that i think he actually marks isolde guerrin on the potential good role models list for the whole connor thing because i have realized some parallels and i think he is for personal reasons extremely sympathetic to her in that regard which is an interesting little character tidbit i will be devouring whole for 3-4 business days so thank u for uncovering that with this ask <3

Witch of the Wilds - #16. Wild
Me? Posting prompts from 2019 because I remembered I hadn't ever posted them on here? More likely than you think.
16. Wild
“It seems you have done the impossible.” A low, sultry voice interrupted the silence following battle; Vincent had hardly been able to catch his breath before he turned, nearly stumbling over a rock at the sudden appearance of the woman.
There was something wild and mysterious hanging around her like a shroud, golden eyes all but seeing straight through him. Leliana was quick to notch an arrow in place, Alistair and Zevran falling swiftly into formation again at a new danger. Yet she didn’t move to attack them, Vincent noted, hesitating to send a spell forth to begin another fight anew. His mana was building slowly and a sheen of sweat clung to his hairline. Flemeth had been a mighty foe in dragon form, taking a toll on the group he’d brought with him back into the wilds.
If she had more power than any of them, they might not survive it.
“Hold,” He said quietly, a hand up to stall his companions, letting his gaze flit between them and the woman.
Apostate was more like it, his eyes catching sight of the stave at her back. No other sane, stable person would be wandering through the wilds, which had seen destruction from the hoard that had ravaged through there only a few months ago. Not even the frost could hide the trampled earth beneath their feet or the lingering stench of death that remained from homes and villages not far from here that no longer stood.
“A wise move,” the woman smirked, her eyes lingering on Vincent. “I don’t come to fight any of you.”
“Then why are you here?” Alistair barked; a bruise was blooming along his jaw from a blow Flemeth had dealt with her tail, but his shield was raised, eyes alight and ready to leap back into the fray again. He wouldn’t unless Vincent gave the word, which felt like both a blessing and a curse, knowing that he had sway over the companions who had followed him willingly here.
“To claim what is mine.” Jerking her chin towards the corpse of the dragon, she continued, “My mother has many things for you to take that you could sell, but I only want what rightfully belongs to me.”
“Mother?” Vincent asked, confusion suddenly blossoming into realization. “Are...are you Morrigan?”
Amusement and a little bit of surprise flashed across her face as Morrigan laughed, low and long as Vincent put the pieces together. “My sister picked someone smart to claim this, I see.”
“You want her Grimoire, too,” Vincent shook his head. “You know I can’t let you take it. Roz asked me to bring it back.” His heart fluttered at the mere mention of her name, warm at the idea that he could do something good for her. “You must know about the dark magic your mother wanted to use on you both.”
Morrigan hesitated, lips pressed tightly in a line as she glanced to the still on-guard members of his party, then back to Vincent. “Might we speak, Warden?” She asked, adding swiftly, “In private.”
“Don’t follow her, Vincent!” Alistair barked. “She’ll just turn you into a swamp creature to eat later.”
“There aren’t only dark, grisly creatures among the swamps.” Morrigan snapped swiftly. “Flowers, too, grow among the moss and leaves. I promise I don’t mean any harm to your fearless leader.”
“How do you know I’m the leader?” Vincent asked, following as she gestured him closer, turning away from the group. Up close, there was something about the way she stood, guarded and aloof, that reminded him of Roz. Yet that’s where the similarities stopped, for, much like the not deceased Flemeth, Morrigan had bright golden eyes and the same sharp lines her mother had cut.
“It’s obvious they follow you,” Morrigan’s voice was lower now that he was closer, “but I...well, Rosalind wasn’t the only one who followed you out of the swamp.”
“Why?” Vincent blurted out, bewildered that Morrigan wouldn’t make herself known to Roz, who talked longingly of seeing her again. “Your sister misses you. She thinks you’re long gone, maybe even dead with everything happening!” He swore he saw regret flash across her features, but Morrigan shook her head, dropping her gaze.
“There are reasons why I’ve stayed away. Roz wouldn’t understand them, nor would she like what I know or have learned.” Morrigan glanced down to the cabin again. “I have a greater need for the Grimoire than she does.” She made a move to brush away from their conversation, turning back down to her home, but Vincent’s stave moved, jutting out as he blocked her from moving forward.
“You know I can’t let you just swoop in with strange claims and simply take it.” Vincent wasn’t interested in fighting, but the thought of making Roz unhappy, of disappointing her in this task, felt too heavy in his chest.
For a moment, Vincent thought he’d brought another fight to them anyways as tension sparked in the air between the pair. His grip tightened on the staff, holding his breath as his mind raced through the steps he could take to ensure that they made it out of the fray.
“I know what Roz read,” Morrigan’s voice dipped, low and soft as some of the tension left her body. “She had nothing to fear from our mother. Only natural-born daughters have to fear being claimed.”
Silence settled like a stone between them as Vincent took in a sharp breath. “So Roz-” he began, Morrigan swiftly cutting him off before he could dive further into it.
“Mother returned from the wilds one day, a long time ago, with my sister in tow. A companion, I think, to keep me from being lonely, though I doubt Flemeth ever truly cared about my feelings as such.” Morrigan shook her head. “No matter, for Roz is my sister, regardless of bloodlines or where she came from before.”
Vincent let his staff drop, slowly, away from blocking Morrigan. “You can look through it, but I need to bring it back with me.” No matter what Morrigan said, he knew Roz would want to see this thing for herself. She deserved that, even if she was safe as Morrigan said she was.
Morrigan looked Vincent up and down with a cold, calculating gaze that made him want to slink away from her. Yet, he held his stance, holding her gaze as steadily as he could manage.
“Rest for the night here,” Morrigan broke the hold her gaze had on him, glancing to his companions not too far away, “and by morning I will be gone, but you can take the book to Roz.”
“Won’t you come back with us?” Vincent asked on impulse and Morrigan gave a hollow, barking laugh.
“Not yet. There are still too many things to do. As much as I would like to see Roz again…” Her voice trailed off, shaking her head sadly. “I will return, eventually, just not yet.”

Dragon Age Questions
Tagged by @starsandskies, thank you! ♥
Tagging @briarfox13, @liaorban, @katajanokka, @tessa1972 and @nerdierholler.
1. Favorite game of the series? It’s really hard to decide. Whenever I play one of them, I really enjoy it and think it must be my favourite. If I could play only one forever though I’d probably choose Inquisition.
2. How did you discover Dragon Age? I played Mass Effect and was active in the fandom here. So I discovered that a lot of people who loved ME also played (and loved) DA. I already had Origins in my library, so I thought why not give it a try.
3. How many times you’ve played the games? Well, I started DAO once but never finished it. A few months later I started a second time and then played all three games. So DAO (almost) twice, the other ones one time.
4. Favorite race to play as? (Dalish) Elves all the way!
5. Favorite class? Both my Warden and my Hawke are Rogues, but technically I always played the Mages in the team. That’s why I decided that my Inquisitor would be a Mage too, and in the end it’s honestly my favourite class to play.
6. Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time. I mostly make the same decisions again.
7. Go-to adventuring group? DAO: Alistair, Wynne, third one changed, but mostly Sten or Morrigan DA2: Fenris, Anders, Varric DAI: Blackwall, Dorian, Varric, often also Cassandra
8. Which of your characters did you put the most thought into? I’d say my Inquisitor Sellia Lavellan.
9. Favorite romance? Well, Alistair x Warden is really sweet and adorable, but I’m also a big fan of Cullen x Inquisitor. I have to say I enjoyed the cutscenes between them the most.
10. Have you read any of the comics/books? Nope
11. If you read them, which was your favorite book? -
12. Favorite DLCs? Trespasser I think? Or Jaws of Hakkon cause I really liked the Frostback Mountains.
13. Things that annoy you? Uhhhh the combat?? Especially in DAO. I mean I love the games but the combat can get really hard, repetitive and annoying. I was glad my Warden was able to sneak cause I sneaked past a lot of enemies, especially in the Deep Roads. DA2 started with great combat but got boring around Act 2. Inquisition had the best combat for me.
14. Orlais or Ferelden? Ferelden.
15. Templars or Mages? Mages.
16. If you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one? I only have one character in each game.
17. What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc.) Ashera’s mabari was called “Brutus”, Marlow’s “Atilla”, Sellia has a horse called “Shiral”.
18. Have you installed any mods? Yes quite a lot actually. Most are for the CC. But in DAO I also had the one to skip the Fade, a few to add more content with Alistair. Clothing mods too. I love mods a lot.
19. Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden? She didn’t mind. She was up for the adventure, though she didn’t know how dangerous it would be.
20. Hawke’s personality? Between blue and purple.
21. Did you make matching armor for your companions in Inquisition? No, they’re all unique.
22. If your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change? Ashera lost her father as a child. He tried to save her from a bear. She’d always go back to help him.
Quite similar for Marlow, she’d like to go back to save Carver. And her mother later on.
Sellia would turn back time to go back to the Fade to try and save both Stroud and Hawke.
23. Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon? Yes, I headcanon that Alistair stayed a Grey Warden after the Blight, but Anora got assassinated. He was already married to Ashera at that point, but agreed to become the new King if he didn’t have to officially marry anyone else.
24. Are any of your character(s) based on someone? No.
25. Who did you leave in the Fade? I honestly hated that decision. And it was the reason why I made up the headcanon I mentioned earlier. I didn’t want to leave either Alistair or Hawke, so I chose Stroud but felt really bad about it. My Hawke didn’t feel like herself anymore, so I’m still thinking about leaving her instead, which means Alistair could stay a Warden.
26. Favorite mount? The Imperial Warmblood.

You know I wrote a post with dialogue tips a while ago, couldn’t find it but I’ll run through a few things here I like to keep in mind when I write dialogue because I have a few more things to add from what I remember writing originally.
Anyway I also want to say that when I write I tend to have a lot of dialogue, because I like dialogue, and so much of my work is character and romance based. I also originated in theatre and apparently there’s this weird trend that theatre people write more dialogue in their stories. Too, I think that’s how a lot of relationships develop, through the way people talk and converse with each other. I’ve also been reading a lot of Toni Morrison and I notice she has a lot of dialogue. But different writers have different styles, some don’t have as much as myself or Morrison. I just reread Heart of Darkness (ugh) and leaving aside the fact the whole book is technically Marlowe’s long monologue about his trip to the Congo, there’s not a lot of dialogue in his story proper. It’s all dependent on your style or what works best for the story. But my pointers are as follows:
1. Don’t be afraid of it.
seems basic, but I have talked to a lot of writers who are afraid of writing dialogue for whatever reason, and who don’t think stories should have copious dialogue. It really is a case by case basis, but if you feel the best way to handle a scene is through dialogue, go for it. there’s a popular dialogue writing post I’ve seen float around here that says characters should only say a max of five sentences at a time, but sometimes someone has a lot to say and goes off on a long monologue, like Charlie Marlowe in Heart of Darkness. if that’s the case, go for it.
2. Unraveling
Dialogue scenes are unraveling. even if you’re talking with your friend about what to eat for lunch, you’re unraveling something. And in fiction, with two people arguing, flirting, or talking about what to eat for lunch, it’s an unraveling. It’s a build, and that has to lead to something. take this scene from In Waking Dreams, one of my fics: (You don’t have to read, I just think it’s a good example of the unraveling thing:
He closed his eyes, damning himself. “I don’t want anything to happen to you,” he said. “You have to know that I—“
“Are you going to tell me that you care?” she spat. “You? Actually care?”
“Lyd—Inquisitor, I thought you knew I cared.” He came closer, gently putting his hand on her shoulder to prove it. “Please know that.”
“What am I to you?”
“You’re…you’re my Inquisitor, and…” He thought long and hard. “You’re also my friend,” he said.
“But Commander,” she replied, looking straight in his eye. “I thought mages couldn’t be your friend. We can’t be treated like people, after all.”
Time stopped.
This wasn’t happening. Wasn’t…
He was stumbling backward. He was sinking, falling deeper, drowning and unable to resurface, unable to speak or do anything. And there was Lydia. Maker’s breath…he cared, he cared so much, and…
This wasn’t happening. He was going to tell her everything. She would hear it from him. Not this way, not—
“Hawke told me a few things,” Lydia explained, calmly. Much too calmly. “The tranquil solution. The extent of Meredith’s fanaticism. The people that died, and were hurt. And the Knight Captain, who stood by and watched it all happen.”
“You have to believe me, I didn’t know…I didn’t—“
“Bullshit!” She gripped the fur on his mantle, forcing their eyes to lock again. “You knew about the tranquil solution. You discussed it. You had to have known what was happening.”
“We didn’t go through with it!” he exclaimed, exasperated. “I didn’t know what was going on with Ser Alrik. Believe, me, please!” he pled, yet she still wouldn’t believe.
Her grip tightened. “What about everything else?”
“You have to understand what was happening in Kirkwall. Every day there were reports of another blood mage. The city was falling apart, and—"
“And instead of standing your ground and seeing, you didn’t. You were too concerned with your natural rights to oppose us, weren’t you? You had the ability to see things clearly. You had sense, even if you didn’t realize the woman who you so easily said ‘mages aren’t people’ to actually was a mage! And I don’t care that you stood by the Champion in the end!” she snapped before he could try to protest. “That doesn’t excuse anything.”
She finally let go, shoving him aside. She was strong for a mage, as Cullen fell a step backward. Her gaze still lingered on him, fire in the sea of blue, fire that was never going to burn out.
He wanted nothing more than for the lyrium to take him, to whittle his mind away until this moment was gone forever. Yet in such an odd and ironic twist of fate, Cullen felt nothing. No pain, no shaking, no aching limbs, or searing headache. He only felt the rapid beating of his heart, right along with his disgust and shame.
“I know it’s hard to admit that something isn’t working anymore,” Lydia muttered. “I know it’s hard…but dammit, you’re a coward for not seeing…not knowing what was going on.”
She was right…she was right…Maker he knew, always knew she was right.
Her voice was cracking. “I knew who you were when we met,” she continued. “Knight Captain, worked for Meredith, whatever. It was the past. I forgave you because you were kind to me, and the people here. But dammit Cull—Commander,” she corrected. “Tell me you didn’t say that. Tell me you didn’t really believe mages weren’t people. Tell me now it wasn’t true, Hawke lied, or…”
Her eyes beseeched him, begged, but there was only one thing he could give her. The truth.
And when he told her the truth, and he saw the one tear that escaped from her eyes, he would have lived a thousand years of ache to never see that again.
His voice was now cracking. “I was wrong,” he said, trying to hold his composure, a composure that was slowly crumbling. “I was wrong, I was vile, and I deserve to suffer for what I used to believe. But I don’t think that anymore. I hate that man I was. I wasn’t myself those years that I was in Kirkwall. I was angry, and you have to understand what happened before. Lydia…I was—“
“You know it all makes sense now, why you can’t write to your family. You just can’t bear to tell them how much of a coward you really were!”
So yeah, Lydia and Cullen arguing, and eventually we have this big build that ends with this blow up. it unraveled and it unraveled and it finally built into the final stinger.
3. Think about speech patterns.
people talk differently, have their own idiosyncrasies. as an example, Cullen in Dragon Age uses the word “rather,” a lot. Instead of saying “I’m really fond of this,” he would opt for “I am father fond of this,” as anpther example. Hank in Detroit Become human curses a lot. Connor, also from detroit become human is very formal when he speaks, while Morrigan from Dragon Age, for lack of a better term, has a way of speaking that invokes Shakespeare. If you are writing an established character, my best advice would be to observe and see how they speak. if your writing an OC, think about where they’re from, what things might have shaped their vocabulary. Stuff like that :)
4. Filler words and ellipses
I read a long time ago that dialogue in fiction should lack the “pauses and uhhhs and filler words like ‘like’ that real speech has.” Like most writing advice I find this situational. JK rowling for example has Harry say “eeerrr,” a lot, and I think for the most part it’s done effectively to convey his awkwardness at the situations unfolding, though it’s not done all the time. but when it does you feel it. People also pause a lot in real speech, and when I write dialogue I use the ellipses, or the …. to convey that. I’m trying to dial back because I think I’ve been using it too much, but it is true, people do pause. part of my thing too is when I write I can see the scene in my head, and I like to “block” the characters and “direct” them, if that makes sense?
So I guess for this section I would say, filler words and ellipses are fine to use, just be mindful that going overboard can be immersion breaking.
5. sometimes it’s not what’s said, but what isn’t.
In real life, people withhold information. they don’t say everything they have on their mind. they hold back. Same in fiction. In my fic right now, Sophie wants to say “hey Connor I think I like you and you like me too, we should consider the possibility of courting,” but she doesn’t say it because she’s scared that maybe she’s fooling herself.
So, I like to keep this in mind :)
6. read plays, watch dialogue heavy movies.
Plays are told entirely through dialogue. Well, Tennesse Williams, and Arthur Miller, those people. We have new experimental theatre coming out where there’s a lot of funky stuff happening. But reading plays and watching movies with lots of dialogue are great because they can show you how stories can unfold through dialogue.
My final thoughts are that one should experiment, and find what works for them :) have fun, and have fun, and read a lot :)

okay!! so my oc page for my own story(ies) is finally somewhat in working order. it's /original bc i have ocs for games and they're under a different page, but if y'all want to go look at them? everything on it is really, really basic like names, faceclaim, age, etc, but it gives an idea and like a platform to ask questions (and those would be really neat).
alright, i'll go now
