Summary in brief

Heart gets an extended stay in the Apathy Hole, and that betrayal from Soul combined with Mind insulting him leads him reject his role as the Emotional Side and essentially kill half of himself so that all he is is the muscle known as the heart.

Mind and Soul eventually discover his condition and try to wake him up and get him back. When they do they have to deal with the consequences of what they pushed him to do, because until they do Heart will fight them to return to emptiness, where he didnt have to feel hurt and betrayed and cold. (Heart’s physical condition is directly tied to his function, so until hes willing to accept being the Emotional Side again he backslides rapidly at all times, and Mind and Soul are selfish)

The jewelry maker that I asked to make a bracelet for Jon did a big surprise today. <3

So, that's how the story goes. I turned several times to order presents to my friends from this talented and hardworking girl. I saw her works being displayed at my city's festival years ago. She came up back then with a unique idea of beaded bracelets with Morse code. Her beaded works are quite laconic and charming and I witnessed her creative path all these years and how her Morse bracelets developed and how much sense it was making for her to code some support in them.

Since the war I had an idea of again ordering something from her, as like many creators she stayed in the country facing all the cruelty of the war. She's one of the creators that is always open to some sort of collaboration. I saw her making a Ukrainian pattern bracelet some time ago and had a crazy idea of disrupting it with my friend's favourite song's lyric + specific colours that were associated with the music video (it was Free by F + tM). And she did a gorgeous job on that! Another idea was to order a bracelet for Jon to give to him during or before my first ever CP gig! I had an idea for colours, type of the bracelet and phrase. She loved the idea and wished luck with seeing my favourite guitarist and very enthusiastically got down to work. That bracelet travelled quite a while and by some miracle I got it just a week before the concert itself! I managed to hand that bracelet to Phil together with the guitar strap I've been working on since January 1st. I hoped to see Jon wearing at least that bracelet any of the days as I was determined that Phil gave it to him (and he did as it also appeared on Sunday where my tweet was casually stalked with "Jonny says THANK YOU 💙" lol). Unfortunately, it didn't happen but he wore 2 bracelets one of which was extremely important as it was dedicated to a lost person in the fandom. I still was hoping to make Ruslana (that's her name) happy with saying more than the fact that I handed her work. I was obsessively looking at photos from all other gigs but nope. Anyway, eventually I told her that the bracelet found its person and thanked again and posted in stories about that. She replied that it made her day and gave her the energy she needed (she hasn't been on socials for a while, I assume something personal was also going on). She asked me about the concerts and I tried to tell her that I was in the front row just in front of Jon, describing how important it was to see him, how the second concert was wonderful and such stuff, very very shortly. She was very inspired by that and emotional, she said that all of that gave a special meaning to her work. In some days she came back to me asking for permission to cite some of this message about my concert experience, as that gave her a new idea. I was surprised and agreed.

Today she posted a beautiful video of her working (her son was also playing around there on the background) with... Actually reciting this whole message out loud. O_O I didn't expect it to be in this format and like this and it was so cool and I felt a bit awkward because I made a mistake there and she was very clearly emotional reading it *sobs and hides*. Didn't know that my fan obsession can end up being such a huge inspiration to someone's work and belief in good things???

I wrote a Summer Vacation Piarles Fic which can be read on Ao3 here. And this is a drabble.

Pierre finds them in a little shop while he's on his pre-arranged trip with his parents.

He sees them and immediately thinks of Charles and the conversation about bracelets for the two of them to wear when they return to the paddock.

Well, he's always thinking of Charles. It's only been days since they parted, but the difference now is that Charles texts him in the middle of the night miss you or sends him sweating selfies with his hand stuffed down his pants and Pierre can do something about always thinking about Charles.

He doesn't buy them though - conscious of the fact that the girl behind the counter has been staring at him since he walked in here and he knows how Twitter works.

He plucks a card from the display and pockets it. Ilies will order them if Charles decides he likes them, but Pierre does. Pierre thinks they're perfect.

Casual. Simple. Able to blend in with Charles' various other bracelets. Comes in different colors.

Pierre had considered one of those too expensive locking bracelets that are so popular with the other drivers, but it didn't feel authentic to the two of them. It didn't feel like something they would buy each other.

No, but this did.

These tiny bracelets with little beads that spell out I love you in morse code. Red with black beads for Charles and blue with silver beads for Pierre.

He can’t stop thinking about them so he sends the shop link to Charles’ private Instagram account and Charles responds two hours later (post-run) with shipping confirmation.

Calamar, tell me you used a fake name and address? Pierre messages back.

All Charles says for the rest of the day is: why did you not bring that up before?

Pierre snorts, sends back a reaction photo of Charles’ own face and goes to train. He’s going to see Charles in a little over a week and he will hopefully slip that bracelet on his wrist, tighten the little knot on the back, NOT think about other jewelry Pierre might like to slip into Charles eventually.

Nope. Definitely not that.

You've got me scared for the finale- please don't hurt me:( Daily Hobie HC! As much as I think Hobie doesn't fiddle a lot, I also know he fiddles at least a little when he's bored. For example, if you have a bracelet and his holding your hand, sometimes he'll loosen his grip a little to feel the fabric/beads/etc of your bracelet, distracting him from boredom and leaving light taps of morse code against it, telling you 'I love you'. If you aren't wearing a bracelet, he'll softly tap his fingers against your knuckles, usually just drumming to the beat of songs as he doesn't listen to whatever lecture he's getting or something. When he's feeling clingy or possibly high, he'll come up from behind you, wrapping his arms around your middle under your top, with one hand holding you close and the other playing with the edges of the fabric. (You'll know he's high cus he smells like it...plus cherries for some reason. Also watch out he's going to try lick you again) I think Hobie would also sometimes drum his fingers against the table to a song if he's listening to something, or twist the rings on his fingers. If he's bored and wants to cause a little bit of a ruckus, he'll start poking you subtly where he knows you're ticklish, hiding his smirk as he pushes your buttons repeatedly until you burst out laughing, playfully smacking his chest and lightheartedly scolding him for doing so. But hey, he doesn't care. It was definitely worth it Also a little song suggestion because I cannot stop listening: "Strangers" by Fizzy Blood. 'Your silhouette, looks kinda lonely' 'Could it use some company?' 'But I can never tell' 'Tell if you saw me through the lights and smoke machines' - 🐦‍⬛

Normally jewelry has some kind of meaning

Typically, the left ear is for relationships- one or two shaped like their first-name initial (on the top part of their ear), and then a few studs for parents and siblings (on the bottom part of their ear). Every earring here is connected by a small chain. If you don’t have any parents or siblings (or, for example, have parent(s) but no siblings), a close friend can substitute this. Example: Impulse has one smaller cuff earring next to a longer one, like a lowercase "i". Then he has two little studs for his mom and Skizz

Chains are VERY IMPORTANT. If there are any earrings that are related in some way, they’ll have a chain connecting them- that’s what it’s about. Connections!

Horns are made of a very thick keratin- horn piercings are very popular b/c they don’t hurt and also look cool. Keratin doesn’t have nerves in it, after all!

Typically, horn rings are good-luck charms.

Piercings can also be given as awards- think how tassels on a graduation cap work.

Different piercings around symbolically related areas- for example, Impulse was known for being very observant in college, so he got two piercings above and below his eyebrow (close to his eye, lol) to signify that! eye = observation

Also of note: Impulse, specifically, got a horn ring from his mother as a good-luck charm before going to college. This is connected by a clasp and chain to the top eyebrow piercing because yknow. From college

Impulse has a bracelet Skizz made him, spelling their names in (universal) Morse code. Blue for dashes, yellow for dots, small black beads for the separation between letters, and medium silver beads for the spaces between words.

23. Ah, this one's difficult. I've been experimenting with my gender expression lately, something I couldn't do in my early teen years because of- well. Mostly embarrassment but also fear and anxiety of being judged. Goes hand by hand I guess. I don't have a lot of money to buy myself nice clothes, but I do what I can with what I have!! And a few days ago I wore this cute overall that instead of pants has a skirt! And I like it a whole lot. It's blue and pleated. I wore a black tight turtleneck underneath it and solid black tights. I wanted to include maybe blue leg warmers but I couldn't find the ones my grandma handmade for me. But I think the outfit looked great anyway!! So, that. And I'd say this big af leather jacket that my father passed onto me from his younger days jfshjd

And 25!! Oooh. This one's interesting. I'd say anything that has a lot of thought put into it. It could be anything honestly, what makes it really special for me is the emotion and love put into it. Like for example, my irl bff gifted me this hand made bracelet for my 18th birthday that has `soulmate` written in morse code if I recall correctly with white and blue transparent beads. Transparent stuff are my favourite visual stim, and he handmade it thinking of me!! And and he has a matching one!! I haven't taken it off since he gifted it to me and it was my favourite gift I received that day. It made me feel special and appreciated and I really needed that in that moment. That gift(and him) holds a special place in my heart.

Rewatching ML Season 2

The Collector: When Ladybug says she thinks Gabriel is Hawk Moth, Chat Noir is taken aback, but rather calm. Ladybug is shocked when Chat Noir suggests that the Collector could make Adrien disappear, while Chat’s expression says that he believes it’s totally possible. Gabriel lets Adrien go to school again and Adrien hugs him.

Prime Queen: Chat Noir purrs when Ladybug is close.

Glaciator: Poor Adrien, his father makes him wait for him at that big table and then doesn’t let him leave the house. Marichat on the balcony! I believed Marinette didn’t take Chat Noir’s declarations of love seriously, so it’s nice to have it confirmed. She must have thought he’s like that with many girls and now she knows he’s really in love with her. I like how sincere they are with each other at the end.

Despair Bear: Adrien stands up for Marinette when Chloé accuses her of being responsible for the false alarm. He is again annoyed with Chloé and threatens to end their friendship. Chloé does something good, but for the wrong reasons. Marinette and Adrien are dancing. Chat Noir is AGAIN possessed by the villain.

Troublemaker: Adrien is so happy to see Marinette on TV. Poor Marinette, everyone can see her hundreds of photos of Adrien and he’s so shocked. Chat Noir again uses his good hearing. Marinette friendzoned herself.

Gigantitan: Gabriel tries to reason with a baby, he couldn’t have been an involved father when Adrien was little. Chat Noir says he’s a great singer and promises to sing Ladybug a song.

Riposte: Hi, Kagami! Was she sent to the fencing class to impress Adrien? Ladrien scenes. Adrien saves Ladybug, forgetting that he isn’t invincible when he isn’t transformed. He says he doesn’t like being locked.

Befana: Marinette resorts to lies when she’s afraid the truth might hurt someone. Short Marichat scene. Chat Noir says Marinette must be a very cool girl. Ladybug joins Chat Noir in singing. Adrien says he’s always carrying Marinette’s lucky bracelet and gives her one that he made himself. I wonder what the chicken bead is supposed to mean.

Frightningale: Adrien tells Chloé that everyone in the queue should have a chance. He’s impressed with her skills, but is not thrilled to work with her.

Gorizilla: Gabriel again suspects that Adrien is Chat Noir. (Gabriel, haven’t you heard him yell ‘PLAGG, CLAWS OUT!’ every now and then?) Adrien wants to ask his father if he could go to the cinema, but Gabriel doesn’t have time for him. Adrien hates being famous and is still carrying Marinette’s lucky bracelet. Adrienette and Ladrien scenes. Adrien notices that Marinette repeats words from the perfume advertisment and isn’t sure what to make of it. Adrien’s falling from the skyscraper and Gabriel in the last moment orders Gorizilla to release Ladybug to save Adrien (though his first impulse was to wait until Adrien transforms, risking his death). Ladybug says she trusts Chat Noir and Adrien is happy. Gabriel watches the film with Adrien. At the end for the first time we see dead Emilie in the glass coffin from afar.

Robostus: Adrien knows Morse code. Master Fu explains that when you have both Ladybug earrings and Cat ring, you can make a wish, but comes with a price—you exchange your wish for something opposite.

Sapotis: Marinette has a DVD with “Ladybug PV”. Chat Noir flirts with Rena Rouge.

Syren: Chat Noir is fed up with being left in the dark. Ladybug not trusting him seems to be his biggest concern. He threatens to give up the ring for the first time. He finally meets Master Fu.

Dark Owl: Ladybug and Chat Noir trust each other so much that they can detransform in front of each other, having their eyes closed.

Zombizou: Chat Noir sacrifices himself AND is possessed by the villain. Chloé sacrifices herself fo Ladybug, but without Ladybug she would be caught, so it isn’t entirely selfless. Later she is vulnerable and sincere with Ms Bustier.

Captain Hardrock: Gabriel wants Adrien to play the piano perfectly. No one is surprised that he is grounded again. Hi, Luka! Adrien asks his father to play the piano with him, Gabriel lets him go to his friends, Adrien hugs him.

Frozer: Chat Noir has a romantic fantasy involving Ladybug and a hamster and later Marinette has a similar fantasy about Adrien. Adrien thinks about asking Gorilla, Nathalie and his father about girls, but ends up asking Marinette about Kagami. Kagami and Plagg think Adrien cares about Marinette romantically. When Marinette tells him they should go ice-skating again, he thinks she means just the two of them. She almost confesses her feelings to him, but ends up friendzoning herself again.

Reverser: Terrified Chat Noir is hilarious.

Style Queen: Gabriel, why are you surprised that Adrien fell victim to your Akumatised villain? Have you thought it through? Nathalie is not happy about it at the end. Chloé is worried about Adrien. Short Ladrien scene.

Queen Wasp: Gabriel has some regrets about putting Adrien at risk. Nathalie hugs Gabriel. Gabriel hugs Adrien publically. It’s the first time he appears publically after Emilie’s death. Chloé is abused, but it doesn’t excuse her acting like a villain and pretending to be a hero.

Malediktator: Chloé gives a ridiculous presentation, but the class shouldn’t bully her for that. Adrien is the only one who doesn’t laugh and later isn’t happy when Chloé’s leaving Paris. Adrien says that she was his only friend when he was little and didn’t leave the house. (When exactly did problems in his family start?) Thanks to Adrien Marinette decides to give the Bee Miraculous to Chloé and give her a second chance. Chloé admits that she hurt her father. Chat Noir is AGAIN possessed by the villain. My Disney+ must have a wrong order of the episodes, because Alya mentions Carapace.

Anansi: Adrien says his father is overprotective and hopes it’ll change. Hi, Carapace, here you are. Chat Noir is a bit worried about being replaced by other superheroes, but Ladybug reassures him he’s irreplaceable.

Sandboy: Nightmare Adrien is both scary and funny. Poor Adrien’s nightmare is being locked out without escape. Chat Noir saves Ladybug, how romantic. I love that bad Ladybug always gets this crazy, enormous weapon.

Catalyst: Lila returns! I think that Alya can’t see through Lila’s lies, because she’s too focused on Marinette’s crush on Adrien.

Mayura: I must agree with Chloé that Hawk Moth’s outfit is ridiculous. Nathalie wants to help Gabriel so much that not only does she let herself be Akumatised, but also she risks her life by using the Peacock Miraculous. Gabriel is shocked by this. At this point he still seems to care about Adrien and Nathalie to some extent. Adrien says that Marinette is their school Ladybug. (Will Adrien ever be called their local Chat Noir?)

A Christmas Special: Snow, songs and that terrible old man in a red suit. Gabriel’s gone mad and thrown a Christmas party. More serious observation: Adrien openly talks sings about his pain and anger.

Miraculous World: Shanghai: ‘Did Jet just die?’ moment, Hawk Moth edition. Chat Noir too, but it isn’t as surprising.

Luna’s TOP 10 Jewelry Making Tips + Ideas!

Ciao lovelies! As you may already be aware, one of my favorite crafts is jewelry making, and I’ve been making fun bracelets, necklaces, brooches, and other jewelry for as long as I can remember. Over the years I’ve learned a lot about the hobby, and picked up a lot of tips and ideas along the way. So for today’s post, I thought I’d share 10 of my top tips and ideas for jewelry making, along with photo examples!

Luna’s TOP 10 Jewelry Making Tips + Ideas!

Design Tips:

Tip #1: If you’re having trouble developing a design, try working from a theme.

Sometimes it’s hard to narrow down exactly what you’re envisioning as a piece of jewelry. On that note, something that helps me a lot when I’m coming up blank on a design is to pick a theme at random. Something general enough to work from, but specific enough to help narrow down my options. Example themes I’ve used in the past include: sweets, Blue (Jurassic World), Draculaura (Monster High), Clawdeen (Monster High)....etc.

Tip #2: To further simplify the design process, try choosing 2-3 colors to work with.

If you’re still stumped on your design, make it easier to choose by selecting 2-3 colors to stick to in your design. Of course, highlighting beads in white, black, or metal colors, don’t really count towards these colors unless you want them to. Example color combos I like: pastel shades of blue, pride flag color sets, color sets based on specific characters…etc.

Tip #3: Picking a pattern can help the harmony of a design.

A great way to simplify and bring a design together is to pick a pattern to work off for your colors and shaped beads. Repeated patterns work well to help a design become cohesive. I enjoy alternating colors of beads, shapes of beads, or even opaque vs transparent types. There’s a lot you can do with patterns in a design, even morse code or secret messages!

Tip #4: Symmetry does NOT guarantee a better design.

I know in daily life, we often associate symmetry with beauty or nicer works, but in jewelry and other art forms, symmetry does not mean the design will automatically be a better one. When starting out, it’s okay to feel more comfortable making symmetrical designs, but it’s also perfectly fine to branch out. You can achieve asymmetry with special beads or charms to highlight each side, or even with different words in letter beads.

Tip #5: Don’t be afraid to experiment with different techniques, materials, etc on your designs.

One of my biggest set-backs in this hobby was my issue with a perfectionist mindset, I always want each piece to turn out perfectly, and that’s not realistic, especially when trying out new techniques, designs, or materials. Accepting that some pieces may be just practice attempts is very important.

Idea #1: Upcycling old items is a great way to find hardware for the hobby!

One of my favorite things to upcycle in jewelry making is old keychains! I can use them as clasps at the end of bracelets or necklaces. I can also upcycle old jewelry for parts like lobster claws, ring bases, jump rings, chains, etc.

Idea #2: Simple Brooches can be made with Thumbtacks/Pushpins!

If you also like to craft charms for brooches or pins, you can give them the backing they need with pushpins or thumbtacks hot glued to the back. For the pin backing, you can use old pin backs, or use craft foam cubes for the stoppers. I have made a few brooches in this style, including this Popsicle one shown in the example photo.

Idea #3: Custom shaped pendants can be made with pipe cleaners and beads, or other forms of wire and bead combos!

A fun touch for a custom necklace is a one of a kind pendant made from pipecleaners (or other wire) and beads for decor! I made this peace sign pendant (shown in the example) from black pipecleaners and beads in a purple theme. Pipecleaners are easier to work with than other wire, but if you have wire cutters or pliers, other wire is always an option! Even wire upcycled from old spiral notebooks, like in THIS old OFT tutorial.

Idea #4: Using a similar technique to idea 3, you can also make Rings!

Along with custom pendants, did you know you can even use the pipe cleaner and beads method to make rings? In the example photo, I used a fuzzy pipe cleaner and some cute beads. As long as you tuck in the sharp pipe cleaner edges, this idea is safe for regular wear and use. This can also be done with other wire, but honestly for comfort’s sake, I would recommend the pipe cleaners instead.

Idea #5: Don’t be afraid to scavenge for cool pendants!

If you’re more inclined to want to make very unique and one of a kind designs (like me), you’ll probably avoid buying craft store charms and pendants in favor of something less common. I have found that party favors, dollar store toys, old keychains, vintage jewelry, pop tabs, and much more, make awesome charms and pendants that are especially unique! In the example photo shown, I used a plastic party favor eyeball from Halloween and pierced it with an awl. After that, I simply had to thread the elastic cord through and then make the rest!

Ike wears a MILLION bracelets and wristbands and necklaces when he can get away with it -- he'll take some off if he's going on a particularly involved raid, but generally he's got them all on at all times. If you give him something he will put it on IMMEDIATELY.

Important notes: the fibre bracelet is spun from the alpaca they had for about four months before it died (only Bea knows this since she's the one who made the bracelet for him), and the metal bracelet spells out "fuckity fuck fuck" in morse code (Orion helped him with that since Ike doesn't know morse code) and the beads are all crystals that Mayra knows the meanings of (he just accepted them without asking).

apologies dear friends i continue to be: a grouchy old man, obsessed with libraries

my new job is fine objectively like there is nothing wrong with it but my boss is very "do storytime, do more storytime, we must schedule storytime," and does not really listen to anything i say, such as 'i would like to do less early literacy programming so that i have some time to do programs for elementary & early middle schoolers,' or 'please schedule me on the youth desk instead of giving me nothing but unstructured office time, leaving me isolated & uninvolved in the day-to-day operations of the library, with which i need to rapidly develop familiarity,' or 'our desk schedule actually should not be rigidly set a month in advance, because we need to be flexible & can work out desk coverage on a department level,' or 'you actually do need to have a clear & specific plan for emergencies, including severe patron issues, & this plan should be communicated to all staff instead of vaguely stashed four folders deep in the shared drive'. (actually when i repeatedly pressed for clarity on who is in charge at any given time she posted an updated chain-of-command document which listed, for some reason, me? as third in line in case of emergency? which is just bugfuck)

it feels very frustrating & i know that many of these problems will resolve themselves as i begin to actually do programs—i haven't been able to because all programming at this library must have at least 2 weeks' advance notice, and i came onboard right after thanksgiving/needed time to get my bearings at least a little—so we can get some cute kid pictures to placate the board & build more of a sense of what is needed. but i still don't really know how to pull reports so i can't weed, i only just got ordering credentials this week & have had to find $2k of books to add to a library collection with which i am largely unfamiliar & for which i have absolutely zero circulation numbers, & nobody has actually given me an up-to-date budget (i am meant to guess, i suppose?). it feels kind of like a slow ongoing disaster; i know this feeling is partially because i have 2 hours' round-trip commute to worry & stew & so on, but i also am just like. girl you are a bad manager. you have persistent staff issues because you are not good at managing people. every meeting you are in is worse because you are in it. you cannot handle interpersonal tensions by having your assistant make friendly 'reminders' to all staff which are obviously about a single person, that never works. i have really strong feelings about management for a person who does not want to be in management! should probably try to walk that one off!

i cornered the adult services/sysadmin librarian today to talk to him about some stub ideas i have for kid programs about 'learning to code,' because we have (apparently) gotten lots of requests for this kind of thing, & basically everything on offer is just buzzwordy bullshit like 'make a bracelet that spells your kid's name in binary using different color beads!' or 'buy this expensive piece of edtech which will be unsupported in six months & anyway only introduces kids to our very closed environment!' or 'just let them spend some time on the computer, so their elastic little brains can pick up digital literacy skills by exposure :)'. so i had some ideas which seemed less like, um, nonsense, but i don't actually know how to code (am stupid) so i wanted to run them past him to get a sense of whether there was any real content there. i want to build a little model transistor & talk about why computers use binary. i want to use a makey makey to have the kids construct a sort of human circuit by holding hands, so we can model a logic gate. i want to write an if-then chart together & roll dice to determine which dance moves we do (cf. a ucla comp sci prof's exercises with her four-year-old). i want to use a makey makey to make a simple morse code transmitter so we can talk about encryption & transmission. i want to make an escape room so we can practice some very basic math & simple decryption (& also persistence!). i want to have tweens play scaled-down capture the flag to think about security. my boss just wants me to do three storytimes a week into infinity

anyway i am still marinating on my computer skills for kids concepts (it's mostly buzzwordy bullshit! even the stuff i want to do is kind of bullshit, lol) & plotting my wind tunnel/paper airplane prototyping program & figuring out when i can schedule my middle grade graphic novel book club. i am trying to figure out how this job might be doable. maybe someday i will want to go to work. america autem delenda est
