I'm genuinely disgusted by the behaviour of Bambi Thug - frankly, they're living up the the "thug" part of their name quite remarkable well by spearheading the campaign of hate and bullying aimed at Eden. While they have every right to be angry at KAN for the reporting, that doesn't excuse openly stating you cried when Israel got through, and forcing the EBU to move Eden's hotel room because you don't want to be next to her. That's just xenophobic.

The vitriolic joy they took when talking about how the "top six, (((minus one)))" are all pro peace - implying all Israelis thrive off the deaths Palestinians is so unbelievably racist.

Eden was bullied, mocked, and heckled by multiple other performers and not a single one of them faced any consequences, yet Bambi believes that Eden should be personally responsible for the actions of news readers in a different country? Interesting how all Israelis are the homogenised essence of pure evil in their eyes. It's almost like they've been waiting for the moment when they could publicly be an antisemitic, xenophobic piece of shit. I noticed on their Instagram that they never made any statements about October 7th... Shocking 😒.

Frankly Eden has been one of the classiest, most reputable acts this year. The number of other people who have done things that should bring Eurovision into disrepute is much higher - did anyone else notice the Lithuanian act remove Israel from the "how to vote in different countries" thing they posted online? The whole thing was a global display of Israelaphobia that was gleefully celebrated and I find it so reprehensible that not a single one of them was called out for it.

hey, so, i'm a bit apprehensive about answering this because...it doesn't feel like a very geniune question to me, if i'm being honest. "do you acknowledge x thing" is a question that is inherently set up so that i'm meant to answer "yes, i acknowledge that x thing is true," because the alternative is saying "no, i don't acknowledge that x thing is true," which is already framing this interaction as if to disagree with you would be a kind of failure on my part to do some due diligence of engaging critically with a text. and the fact that you say mskingbean89 used slurs in atyd shows me that you haven't even engaged with the text, because that simply...isn't true.

if what you're referring to when you say "slurs" is the anti-romani stereotypes--this is coming from an extra chapter in the bootleg tapes focusing on greyback, where there is a slur used to describe his living situation + he + his family were portrayed as nomadic irish people in a way that was insensitive. people who read that chapter and then went back to the canon story with that characterization in mind rightfully pointed out that it was fucked-up. mskingbean89 addressed those criticisms by adding this note to the beginning of that bootleg chapter:

personally, i think this was a good way to take accountability + acknowledge the mistakes she made with that portrayal. she was a human being who made an ignorant mistake, which then just happened to get absolutely blasted to millions of people--she did not have sensitivity readers or editors looking over her fanfiction, because she did not write it expecting it to reach the level of popularity that it has. to be honest, i am not really sure how she could have better acknowledged her mistake, aside from just....not having made it in the first place. she explains her intentions without acting as though that intent cancels out harm, owns up to the fact that the stereotyping was harmful regardless of intention, and provides resources to learn while also committing to be more mindful + educate herself moving forward. honestly, that's exactly the response i would hope to see from someone who makes a mistake like this one.

because like. if what u actually want to say here is that atyd is Irredeemably Problematic and we should all like....shun it? universally agree that it's Bad? then it's just like. it is up to each individual reading the story to decide whether that specific portrayal of greyback in the bootleg chapters is something that ruins the story completely for them or whether they still think the story as a whole holds worth. personally, i feel like i can acknowledge that there are issues with mkb's portrayal of greyback and i need to be mindful of that when reading the story so as not to internalize harmful stereotypes while still finding atyd to be a masterpiece that really beautifully deals with a lot of nuanced issues regarding class and disability and systems of power. this is just part of thinking critically when you read; many famous and beloved works of fiction contain the biases of their authors or have mistakes or issues in the way they portray things that are a product of ignorance. and i know everyone reading marauders fanfiction should understand this, because if u genuinely think that a character being negatively stereotyped means u should throw the entire work in the trash, then none of u would be touching harry potter fanfiction with a five foot pole in the first place.

First of all, trolls and moirallegiance aren't original, they're from a webcomic called Homestuck. I just find them fascinating and have been known to put a lot of thought into xenosociological worldbuilding.

Trolls are aliens and their species as we meet them is very violent and aggressive and focused on weeding out weakness. I referred to them as an r-selection species because of their breeding structure in-comic, and the way their society approaches the worth of individual life.

to broadly summarize; trolls all contribute genetic material, which is taken to a creature called their Mother Grub, who combines it through unspecified biological means and then produces grubs that grow up to become trolls

Through various exposition we also learn a) trolls are a warlike society with an expanding interplanetary empire, suggesting there are LOTS of them even though b) trolls tend to treat each other with fairly callous disregard (very "if you're weak enough to die, you deserved it" vibe)

therefore: it seems their species' strategy to thrive and spread is probably to produce many, many offspring at low energy cost, and if the weakest ones die then oh well, there are thousands of others on the way.

((Further complicating this is the fact that trolls also exist on a spectrum of blood colors, from rust-red to royal fuchsia, and it's implied that a) colder/"higher" colors are increasingly rare, and b) higher bloods are exponentially longer-lived. Individuals are pretty much all treated as disposable to some extent, but the extreme societal imbalance of power definitely makes some trolls more disposable than others, societally-speaking.))

I'm a trans man, and before I transitioned I did some aerial silks and trapeze at a school near where I lived. Then I transitioned, moved, and after a few years have wanted to get back into something similar. There are plenty of pole places around my house, but they're heavily oriented towards women. One's even marketed for ONLY women. I feel really weird about trying to attend classes as a man. Any advice?

OK, this is a tricky one. As this is anon, I need to post publicly, so here's some context for passers-by:

Pole dance is a heavily female-dominated activity, and because it's also frequently sexualised (either by design or by association), and requires fairly revealing clothing, many women feel less comfortable in classes with men. Some studios might then attempt to foster a safer environment by excluding men altogether (and even if they don't, the vast majority of students are usually female anyway, so pictures on the website, etc rarely feature men even if there's no actual policy).

And I GET all that. But also, I feel like it's ok for men to want to do pole too. I was literally drawn to pole in the first place BECAUSE it defied traditional gender expectations. So here's my advice, to you and any other men who might want to start:

1) Ask. Drop the studio an email, see if they take male students. The way they respond will tell you a lot about whether this will be a safe/welcoming space for you. It might feel weird and scary, but they don't know you yet, and if their answer is off-putting, they never have to!

2) Be prepared to be in a minority. Even if the studio is welcoming, you are unlikely to be in a class with more than 1 or 2 other men (at most!) and reasonably likely to be the only one. You may find different moves easy/hard, and you may find it takes a little longer for other students to relax/open up around you. This can be hard for some men who aren't used to that dynamic, but it /is/ a predominantly feminine space, so it's worth being thoughtful in how you approach things.

I'm not saying this to put you or anyone else off! IME most studios are happy to take male students, and most students are reasonably open and welcoming, and once you get settled, you can have a lot of fun and make lots of friends. As long as you check in and make an effort, I absolutely recommend giving it a go!

So let me get this right.

A trans woman was harassed constantly for a while from what I heard were mostly transphobes and transmisogynists.

Said trans woman and multiple other people reported that harassment to tumblr staff. Tumblr staff proceeds to ignore said reports. Trans woman lashes out at staff as they’ve done nothing to mitigate the harassment she’s facing on their platform.

Tumblr CEO personally gets involved to get her account nuked because she made an obviously non-serious post about wishing that said CEO would die in an exploding hammer car accident.

Tumblr CEO then says that there is no transmisogyny at Tumblr staff because he himself doesn’t think it’s transphobic. He then proceeds to not acknowledge that the trans woman who‘s account he nuked was harassed and that Tumblr staff simply allowed it to happen due to the fact that she was a trans woman. Oh he also either already contacted the FBI & police to investigate said trans woman or threatened to despite what she said not being an actual death threat in the slightest.

The trans woman‘s backup account get‘s nuked as well despite Tumblr staff never really banning alt accounts for trolls or harassers showing a clear double standard again and showing that this seems to be a personal thing for the CEO.

CEO then continued having a meltdown talking about how good and trans-inclusive the totally not transmisogynistic staff members are and how some of them are trans themselves while continuing to not address the actual issue at all.

CEO then says nighty night while still having not addressed the actual issue at hand.

I think I got most of that right but I haven’t known of Predstrogen before this drama so most of the info is not from direct sources (except the CEO meltdown he did that all *very* publicly). If I‘m wrong on any point here please correct me.

I watch as Chris’ smile grows as he watches Matt’s final play in Jenga, resulting in the tower to topple over and give Chris his victory.

He was currently on a winning streak, and he was convinced that I was his good luck charm that could grant him his third win in a row.

I have a feeling he’s going to demand my attendance every night to continue the streak, but I won’t be able to promise that.

As he exits the stage with his brothers and their teammates, he tosses his arm over my shoulder confidently, placing a kiss on my head. The crowd erupts in applauds and screams, our way of knowing that they saw us and we weren’t as hidden as we thought.

Chris leads me backstage to the green room, inviting me to stay while they wait for fans to come backstage with their passes.

“Good job, baby,” I whisper, keeping a hushed tone in my voice so fans don’t hear me call him by a pet name he swore he hated.

His cheeks blush. PDA isn’t something Chris is afraid of, but it’s different when he’s working and his supporters are right around us. There’s a certain line drawn there, hence why I’m keeping my voice down.

“Thanks for coming,” he replies before placing a kiss on my forehead and greeting the incoming fans.

I sit back on a couch and watch my boyfriend and his brothers interact with some of their die-hard fans. It’s sweet to see the reactions of those who came to see them, but even sweeter to see how the guys I know personally react to that attention. Their faces are coated in pure happiness, and I can’t help but smile just watching them.

There are a few fans that even take their time to say hi to me, which I was not expecting. Chris and I have more of a private but not secret relationship. We rarely post each other, but if we do it’s just subtle reminds that we’re together. There are never any overly publicly loving posts, even if we both know the other is in love. The fact that these attendees are gracious enough to thank me for making Chris happy makes me want to sob. I never imagined my boyfriend would have this sort of effect on people, but it’s no shock that it came true considering his personality.

I watch as the group heads out of the dressing room, shouts of praise and gratitude leaving the fans mouths as they say their last goodbyes. The fans go one way, and the triplets to the other to prepare for the last round of meet and greets before we leave for the night.

I stay back in the green room, scrolling aimlessly on my phone to pass the time. I spend most of it liking fans posts of them in their meet and greet photos and their videos from the show.

About 20 minutes into my time, I get a text from my boyfriend.

I lightly smack Chris’ chest for his comeback, giving him a stare.

“It’s true!” he defends.

“Whatever,” Nick butts in. “There’s a change of plans. We have a hotel tonight because there’s gonna be bad weather. I assume you two will want to stay together… so I guess it’s me and Matt fending for ourselves in the other room.”
