Another silly thing about my Yellowjackets × The 100 crossover: imagine the original hundred (plus Bellamy) landing on earth for the first time, and, at some point, they start hearing strange yelps and howls and calls in the forest.
And maybe at first they tell themselves (and eacheother) that it's just some kind of animal. It would make sense, right? They're the only human beings alive on earth (at least, they think), so it's probably just some animals that live nearby.
But then they start to get used to Earth, and after a few days or weeks of adjusting, they realize that these sounds come off just a little bit too human to come from any animal.
But, they've never heard any of the grounders make these calls, so it only gets more confusing. Maybe someone disappears one day, and, despite searching, no one can find them. Maybe it's more than just one someone, but everyone just assumes that the people that have gone missing just had an accident with the grounders, some sort of animal, or maybe even the occasional spread of acid fog.
Eventually, they're able to make contact with the Ark, and obviously Clarke and Bellamy feel the need to inform the council of the strange sounds they hear at night. Maybe the council brushes them off. Considering how the adults act with the teens towards the start of the show (mostly seasons 1-2), I figure it's possible, and probably makes the most sense. Abby, Jaha, and maybe even Kane seem to express some concerns, but eventually, the strange sounds are pushed to the bottom of the problem pile.
I have no idea where I'm going with this, nor do I know if I'll write anything for it, but if anyone has any ideas/opinions/whatever else, I'd love to hear them <33

The 100 show vs books differences
Characters
Clarke Griffin:
• Books: Clarke has a softer, more introspective personality. She is romantically involved with Bellamy and briefly with Wells. Her medical skills are more central to her character.
• Show: Clarke is more assertive and becomes a leader figure. Her sexuality is explored more broadly, including relationships with Lexa and Niylah.
Bellamy Blake:
• Books: Bellamy’s primary motivation is protecting Octavia. He has a clear romantic arc with Clarke.
• Show: Bellamy becomes a complex, morally gray leader and is romantically linked to several other characters (but not Clarke in canon).
Wells Jaha:
• Books: Wells sacrifices himself for the group much later in the story, and his love for Clarke is a key motivator.
• Show: Wells dies early in Season 1 to progress Charlotte’s storyline.
Octavia Blake:
• Books: Octavia is far less rebellious and plays a smaller role. She is mostly defined by her relationship with Bellamy.
• Show: Octavia has a massive character arc, evolving from a carefree girl to a warrior and leader (Blodreina).
Glass Sorenson:
• A major character in the books, she is absent from the show. Her story focuses on life on the Ark, her forbidden love with Luke, and her struggles during the Ark’s collapse.
Luke:
• Glass’s love interest, who also plays no part in the show.
Lexa:
• Introduced in the show as the Commander of the Grounders and Clarke’s love interest, she has no counterpart in the books.
Anna:
Anna is a member of the Earthborns (a group of humans who survived on Earth after the apocalypse). She is kind, resourceful, and helps Octavia adapt to the challenges of life on Earth.
Raven Reyes:
A brilliant mechanic and engineer, Raven is a central figure in the show but does not exist in the books.
Murphy, Monty, and Jasper:
• Important characters in the show, they do not exist in the books. Murphy, in particular, plays a huge role in the show’s later seasons.
Sasha:
Sasha is another Earthborn who is initially perceived as a threat but later becomes an ally. She is compassionate, brave, and willing to bridge the gap between the 100 and the Earthborns.
Plot
The Landing on Earth:
• Books: The focus is on 100 juvenile delinquents sent to Earth to test its habitability. They land with minimal interference from Grounders.
• Show: The same premise, but the show adds tension through early conflicts with Grounders, Reapers, and Mount Weather.
The Grounders:
• Books: Grounders exist, but their culture and society are not as developed.
• Show: Grounder society, led by Lexa, becomes a significant focus, with complex politics, traditions, and alliances.
The Ark:
• Books: Much of the story takes place on Earth, with limited focus on the Ark.
• Show: The Ark’s fate and the people left behind (like Abby Griffin, Kane, and Jaha) are critical to the first few seasons.
The AI Plotline:
• Books: There is no mention of an AI like ALIE or the City of Light storyline.
• Show: The ALIE arc (Seasons 2–3) is a major plotline, tying into humanity’s destruction and the quest for survival.
Relationships
Clarke and Bellamy:
• Books: A primary romantic pairing - at the end of the final book Bellamy proposes to Clarke.
• Show: Their relationship is complex but remains platonic (with unresolved romantic undertones, depending on interpretation).
Clarke and Lexa:
• Books: Lexa does not exist.
• Show: A pivotal same-sex relationship, deeply shaping Clarke’s character.
Clarke and Finn:
• Books: Finn does not exist.
• Show: Clarke has a brief relationship with Finn in Season 1.
Glass and Luke:
• Books: Their love story drives much of the Ark plot.
• Show: They are absent entirely.
Anna and Octavia:
Books: Anna and Octavia develop a romantic relationship in the books. Their bond is sweet and supportive, with Anna helping Octavia grow more confident and overcome her insecurities. Anna represents stability and comfort for Octavia amidst the chaos of their world.
Show: Anna doesn’t exist in the show
Sasha and Wells:
Books: Sasha and Wells develop a close relationship based on mutual trust and understanding. Sasha softens Wells’s serious demeanor, and he finds hope and happiness in their connection. Their romance is an important part of Wells’s journey as he grapples with leadership and forgiveness
Show: Sasha doesn’t exist in the show
Themes
Focus on Leadership and Morality:
• Books: The story centers on personal growth, relationships, and survival.
• Show: It delves into leadership, moral dilemmas, and the consequences of survival choices on a societal level.
Ending
Books: The book series has a much simpler resolution, focusing on the relationships between characters and their survival as a group.
Show: The show’s ending is complex and divisive, involving themes of transcendence, humanity’s evolution, and sacrifice.
Sexualities
Clarke Griffin:
• Books: Presumed straight, based on her romantic relationships with Wells and Bellamy.
• Show: Canonically bisexual. Clarke has relationships with Finn, Lexa, and Niylah, making her one of the first openly bisexual lead characters on network TV.
Bellamy Blake:
• Books: Presumed straight, as he has a romantic arc with Clarke.
• Show: Presumed straight, based on his relationships with Echo, Gina, and others.
Octavia Blake
• Books: Canonically lesbian. Octavia has a romantic relationship with Anna (female) in the books, but no male love interest is mentioned.
• Show: Presumed straight. Octavia’s significant relationships in the show are with men (Lincoln, Ilian). Her sexuality is not explicitly explored beyond these.
Wells Jaha
• Books: Presumed straight. Wells has a romantic relationship with Sasha in the books.
• Show: Presumed straight, but his short-lived appearance prevents much exploration of his sexuality.
Glass Sorenson:
Canonically straight, based on her relationship with Luke.
Raven Reyes:
Presumed straight, with relationships with Finn, Wick, and others.
Lexa:
Canonically lesbian, with a prominent romance with Clarke.
Harassments
Clarke Griffin:
Books: During her time as a prisoner on Ark Clarke was harassed by one of the guards, although it’s not mentioned if once or more times or properly explained what happened and it’s mentioned briefly
Show: In Season 3, Episode 3 (“Ye Who Enter Here”), Clarke is captured by the Ice Nation and brought to Roan, the exiled prince of Azgeda. During their interactions, Clarke briefly struggles as Roan manhandles her and pushes her against a tree. While this scene carries undertones of physical dominance, it does not explicitly escalate to overt sexual harassment.

Reviews from Last Week
💉 King of the Cage - Mila Kane ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mila Kane really can write mafia romance. Here men are obsessed and perfectly morally gray. Her women are feisty. Like this is just the darkish romance version of the golden retriever boyfriend with his black cat girlfriend.
I loved the dynamic between the two. They just worked so well together. Giada was so grumpy and insistent that she didn't need a man until Bran came around and then she melted. And Bran just needed someone to believe in him. They had such great chemistry.
The plot pacing was pretty good. There is an event at around the 80% mark that I felt was unnecessary. It added and element to the story that felt like it made it longer needlessly. At the same point though, it tied into other plot aspects and helped wrap up things pretty nicely. So it was a difficult trade off, I suppose. Overall, I really enjoyed this, like I do with the rest of Kane's work that I've read.
🐎 Live for Me - Brittany Ann ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I rarely like books with the premise of second chance where the woman is the one that "messed up the relationship" to begin with. Mostly because I like to watch a man grovel and beg. But from the past books that I've read from Brittany Ann, I decided to give this a chance. I am so glad I didn't let that deter me here.
Brittany Ann just as a way of writing dark cowboy romances that never border into abusive like others I've come across. This isn't dark because the MMC treats the FMC like garbage. It's dark because there's stalking and murder. That being said, I would honestly consider this dark-lite. Like the themes are dark (obviously) and the MMC is morally gray, but there aren't really any glaring sexual trigger warnings (know what I mean?)
Anyway, I love the characters. Both Abbie and Beau had personalities outside of each other which is so refreshing lately. And their chemistry together was fantastic. The reason for their separation was a damn good reason and the fact that Abbie handled it on her own makes sense (I know I'm not the only one here that gets upset when a character doesn't communicate.) There were some major editing issues, like misspelling and bad punctuation that I cam across and frankly, that's the only reason I didn't rate this 5 stars. Overall, I'm a Brittany Ann fan. I've loved everything I've read from her so far and I'm looking forward to more.
🏒 Sleet Kitten - S.J. Tilly ⭐️ I didn't think I'd ever say this about a S.J. Tilly book, but I really disliked this. If you had told me this was written in the early 2000s, I would have believed you and maybe given it more grace than it deserves. Instead we are given a book that was published in 2023 and so cringe-tinted boring that I cannot begin to describe my disdain for it.
The characters were so terribly bland. Katelyn was just a self-deprecating bore. She likes book and she's not stick-thin. There, I've given you her entire personality. Jackson is a giant man who likes The Godfather and plays professional hockey. Well, there you are. That's Jackson. They had no depth. If there was chemistry, I missed it completely. By the 100 page mark, nothing could have made this book better.
I don't want to believe that Tilly's entire hockey series will be like this, but this was not a good place to start. Also, Kitten?! WHY?!
🕵🏻♂️ Created the Destroyer - Warren Murphy & Richard Sapir ⭐️ You could argue that this book is a product of the times in which it was written, but even if you can look past the misogyny and racism within the book (seriously, wtf), you still have to contend with mediocre and, at times, confusing dialogue, pathetically weak prose, and the pacing of a frozen snail.
The fact that this has over 150 books in the series really speaks to the fact that mediocre white men will gobble anything up that uplifts another mediocre white man. I'm really glad that I bought this second hand (not for the $4 that I wasted on it, but for the fact that at least it won't become royalties to the authors.)
💭 Bright Dead Star - Caitlín R. Kiernan ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ARC review posted separately
🍎 The Garden - Elsie V. Aidinoff ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ When I first read The Garden over a decade ago, it became a point of contention between myself and my Catholic mother. I started asking questions. I started believing that there had to be something more than the religious indoctrination that had been pounded into me since basically birth.
This became the first in a series of straws that broke the metaphorical back of my beliefs. This story is beautiful and refreshing. At times, it hurts and will break your heart. Seeing the beginning of the world through Eve's eyes as she becomes the, for the most part, reluctant mother of humankind, was wonderful. As a teenager struggling with her faith, this was revolutionary. As an adult woman who has completely stepped away from organized religion, this was a reminder.
The prose is beautiful while not being too purple. The pacing is perfect. The characterization of everyone was so vivid and vibrant. You can't help but love Eve, the Serpent, and, even Adam, despite his flaws. You also are made to look seriously at God as a fallible character, something less than omnipotent.
Overall, I truly love this book. It held up after all this time and I cannot recommend it enough.
⛸️ Unsteady - Peyton Corinne (Audiobook) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It is entirely unbelievable that this is a debut novel. Everything about this story was absolutely perfect. Both Sadie and Rhys were so well written. Their respective traumas were so sadly developed. They were vibrant and angsty and devastating. Both Sadie and Rhys worked so well together even while Sadie was doing her damnedest to keep Rhys at arm's length. The relationship building (maybe not the sexual relationship) was such a good slow burn. But aside from the romance, there was a good friendship between the two as well.
I just enjoyed everything about this book. The pacing is fantastic. All of the characters (sides included) are so fleshed out and wonderfully written. The plot line itself, outside of the relationship, was so compelling. I really enjoyed the fact that our important sides were set to have their own books as well.
Overall, just an amazing read. One of my favorite college hockey romances to date.
☕️ Reckless King - L.M. Dalgleish ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a decent read. This issue lies solely in the length of the book. I have read 50 other romances with a similar plot and the exact same tropes and normally I'm okay with the same story in a different font. The problem lies with the fact that this was almost 500 pages long and for the amount of actual plot it has, it never should have been more than 350 pages.
I like Tate. He was sweet and kind even while ribbing Violet. I did get a bit irritated with Violet's naivety. She just came off as slightly childish with the constant blushing and stuttering every time Tate said any innuendo.
I just really hated how long it was. The first book was so good and this felt like it fell far short.
🤖 All Systems Red - Martha Wells ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was just wanting a fun little palette cleanser of a book. Why am I now getting emotional over an android that refers to itself as Murderbot?
This was just fun and quirky and I found myself rooting for every single character in this book. Everyone had a unique voice and Murderbot was just so hilariously deadpan throughout. For a sci-fi novel, there was significant personality with our main character and we were inundated with too much actual math and science.
I'm very much looking forward to the rest of The Murderbot Diaries. This was such a fantastic read.
🏀 The Right Move - Liz Tomforde ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really enjoyed this. I feel like I should start this review off by saying that because despite my 4-star rating, I have some issues with it.
To begin, Indy is not terrible but to be honest, her constant crying got to the point of annoying pretty quickly. I get it. The guy that you grew up with and dated for 6 years cheated on you and that screwed you up, but holy hell, talk to a therapist. Especially if you are now having issues with orgasms. Then we have Ryan Shay. And you will not catch me hating on this man, but you will find me begging him to also see a therapist. I do appreciate a good men's mental health rep in a book, truly. But love does not cure depression and far too many romances tout that untruth too much.
This book would have been absolute perfection if therapy was at least mentioned and, I don't know, utilized at any point and if it was like 100 pages less. It was just a touch too long. Also the 3rd act break (not quite a breakup) was complete bullshit.
🚀 Artificial Condition - Martha Wells ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I did not think it was possible to be so emotionally attached to a fictional android that refers to itself as Murderbot, but here I am. I also find myself falling in love with a highly intelligent albeit sarcastic transport unit that our Murderbot refers to as ART (Asshole Research Transport.)
This was just such a good sequel to All Systems Red. We get more of Murderbot's background while getting to see them evolve (as much as a construct can) further into a free thinking, rogue android.
This entire series is very quickly moving to the top of my favorite reads of all time. I say that I don't really care for sci-fi far too often to be fawning over these books. But it do be like that sometimes.
📚 Dealing with a Desperate Demon - Charlotte Stein ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ARC review posted separately
🧚🏻♂️ Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell - Susanna Clarke ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I can't say that I would have finished this book if I hadn't committed myself to either reading it completely or getting it off my shelves and out of my life. It had been languishing unread for 10 years and finally decided to read Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. Truly, I am glad that I did.
The world-building is beyond anything I have come across in years. It was vibrant and realistic. It seamlessly blended magic and fantasy into the real history of early 1800s Britain. But the thing that really stood out in all then 1006 pages of this tome were the characters. If someone had told me that Jonathan Strange and Gilbert Norrell were actual practical magicians that lived and practiced magic in the 19th century, I would have believed you, just based on how much they came off the page in this book.
The problems that really came out for this book were the pacing and the ending. It was exhaustingly dense and at times trudged along almost reluctantly. And for all its length and plodding, the ending was so unsatisfactory. It was neither happy nor depressing. It was like a sneeze that you lose. Painfully disappointing and it certainly didn't feel like the length justified it.
Overall, I enjoyed this. But this is a one and done read for me. I cannot see myself ever going back to it for me to glean any missed information.

I was tagged by the wonderful @bloodlnthemoonlight to share part of a WIP fic, and since I have...many...I thought I’d throw a curveball and pick something from one of my most obscure niche pairings, which is Lin Beifong/Kya from The Legend of Korra :D
***
“So what did Bumi say?”
“He doesn’t know,” said Kya wearily.
“Really? You didn’t tell him?”
“Tenzin, we’re not twelve years old anymore, it’s not like we constantly trade secrets behind your back. Much. Anyway, you know he’s probably gonna be insufferable and claim he saw it coming all along.”
“So only I know?”
“You and Korra and Ikki. I’d guess Asami. Oh, and the rest of your family now, after that little scene, so probably the entire of air temple island by tomorrow. So enjoy that sense of superiority while you can.” Kya yawned widely. “You know, I really didn’t think everyone would be that interested.”
“And here I thought you waterbenders were supposed to be intuitive,” smiled Tenzin. “I’m sure Ikki is picking out your wedding dress already.”
“She did seem pretty thrilled about it,” admitted Kya. “Even Korra said she thought we make a cute couple. You should have seen Lin’s face; I don’t think she’s been called cute in her entire life.”
Tenzin let out a half stifled snort of laughter, and Kya grinned.
“For what it’s worth,” she said, “I’m glad you know. And I’m glad you had your total freak out while Lin wasn’t here, because she would have kicked your ass up and down the island.”
“I don’t doubt she would have tied,” said Tenzin. “And for what it’s worth, I’m glad that you’ve finally chosen someone who I can at least approve of in principle. Not—” he added hastily “—that it’s any of my business to approve or not, I’m sure. But Lin is a dear friend and an admirable woman, and if she can persuade you to stay here in Republic City then that can only be a good thing. I know we’d all like to see you more often.”
Kya shrugged. “Well I can’t promise that, but Lin can be very persuasive when she wants to be.”
Tenzin made a face, visible even in the lamplight. “I’d really rather not hear about that.”
“She does this thing with her—”
“Kya!”
They were both laughing now, and Kya impulsively threw one arm around her brother’s waist and gave him a friendly squeeze. “I missed you,” she said.
“I missed you too,” said Tenzin.

this is set during the break between season 2 and season 3 when kane and abby were slowly but surely falling in love with each other while building a community and a family and a society at peace together. for late nights running through reports, for shared meals and early mornings, for bringing each other coffee and going on mapping missions together, for planting in the garden and teasing with dirt covered hands. for that peak of unresolved sexual tension that they’re about to tumble over. for slipping briskly into an intimacy from which they never recovered.

Ch 2 - Prisoner 318 (part 1)
Ch 2 (part 2)
The walls of this prison cell blur in front of me - I sketch in my pocket sketchbook, tossing my hair out of my eyes every time it falls in my eye. My story starts out as this my name is Kristin Kane - I'm not sure if I'm legally a Kane or a Griffin. My mother is doctor Abigail Griffin or Abby for short, my father is the backup chancellor for Jaha - Marcus Kane - he's strict on the Ark laws but in small moments he shows his love for me. I'm eighteen years old and on the ark I'm soon to be floated- in space means death. I just turned this age yesterday. Kane and Abby were at a party one night with her husband Jake Griffin. He had to run off to fix a problem and these two had a one night stand - having me. My hair is mostly brown but there are a lot of blonde highlights in it. You might be wondering how I ended up in jail - to anyone who truly knows my secret a.k.a Bellamy and his little sister Octavia Blake. They would mark me as a second illegal child. But I'm in lockup to keep that a secret by my parents.
The buzz sound meets my ears and I whip my head around to see two guards - unfortunately not the one I want to see. Bellamy.
A guard ordered "Prisoner 318. On your feet!" Jumping up I press my back against the wall, choking out in fear. "What's going on - you can't kill me!" The other steps forward with his baton and I spin around kicking him hard when the first comes over with a metal bracelet. I burst through the cell door slamming it closed - my back hits the railing seeing everyone else being taken out.
"Clarke stop!" My mother's voice shouts, seeing Clarke freeze and grips her tightly in fear. She glances my way and I feel guards cuff me, hands spin me around to face my dad. He hugs me as I let tears fall "Dad! What's happening- why's mom comforting clarke?"
My heart beats fast, I knew that they most likely wouldn't let the 100 of us come back to society. At age 15 I learned who my dad appeared to be to everyone else. Mom told me once that he always used 'making sure the human race stays alive at any cost' to defend his actions. So I've learned never to fully trust my own father. He's locked me my whole life - his way of protecting me I suppose.
We break apart and he puts a hand on my cheek answering "Kristin it's ok - you're going to the ground. All 100 of you..." he takes something from a guard and it snaps on my right wrist. Wincing I call out "ow - dad what is this!"
He kisses my forehead saying "it tracks your vitals. You're mother and I love you."
I feel a prick in my neck and I slowly collapse into his arms. He brushes my hair out of my face and I muttered "I love you guys too." before passing all the way out.
My boots bang against the metal floor as I try to get back to my place before my dad finds out. Since I'm an illegal child he doesn't let me leave unless I'm with him. My mom Abby comes over late at night to hang out with me.
Curfew is almost here and I trip on one of my boot places causing me to crash into someone.
I went out to see the Moon Rise, when I was really little dad would always take me. And no matter how many times I see it, it never gets old. Now a days he's too busy working as a counselor.
His eyes catch mine and they memorized me, brown and plain maybe, but his..they were deep and full of something. Like something meant for more in this world.
"Ow!" We both exclaimed. My eyes lock onto a boy with black curly hair in a guard jacket. Oh crap of course it has to be a guard.
"I'm so so sorry sir - I didn't---- didn't mean too!" I stammered out. He helps me to my feet saying "it's fine I'm only a cadet - so no worries. Oh by the way I'm Bellamy Blake." We shake hands and I blush a little once he moves a strand of hair behind my ear, a chuckle escapes his lips, dimples being revealed along with it. I say "Kristin, Kristin Kane."
Bellamy and I strolled the halls quickly to my quarters. He laughs when I tell him why I was out "I love seeing the Moon Rise."
He smirked with a blush suggesting "well maybe we can go together sometime- before curfew of course."
I smiled, opening the door "agreed it's a date Bellamy Blake."
His foot stops me from closing my door "please just call me Bell.:
I nod my head, answering "okay, call me just Kristin."
After that he leaves and I close our door giggling at my first day out alone. I found a cute guy. Score!
My eyes open slowly and my vision is foggy as I notice four guards carrying me on a cot. We're heading towards a air lock, a familiar hand grips mine and I force myself to look up, looking at my mom and dad. She weakly smiles at me leaning down she whispered "Honey I'm so sorry that you're father is making me do this but ---- I love you and hold onto this for me ok." She puts a ring on a necklace in my hand and I grip it tight. Tears go in my eyes when she kisses my forehead and hears we vow "I will and I love you too." After that I'm seated in a dropship next to Octavia. Her eyes glow and she squeals "Kristin!" I squeeze her hand and I giggle "yes O, it's me"
The dropship breaks through the earth's atmosphere and I hold onto O for dear life. The Chancellor's face comes over multiple tv screens explaining to our prisoner group. "Prisoners of The Ark, hear me now. You've been given a second chance, and as your chancellor, it is my hope that you see this as not as a chance for you, but a chance for all of us, indeed for mankind itself. We have no idea what is waiting for you down there. If the odds of survival were better, we would've sent others. Frankly, we're sending you because your crimes have made you expendable."
A boy cursed to the chancellor's son who sits by Clarke. "Your dad is a sick, Wells." People laugh as I kept my eyes on the screen. "Those crimes will be forgiven, your records wiped clean." I've been labeled a criminal for just being born, what crap!
I fixed my gaze to my sister who pays close attention to the man's instructions. "The drop site has been chosen carefully. Before the last war, Mount Weather was a military base built within a mountain. It was to be stocked with enough nonperishables to sustain 300 people for up to two years. "
"Spacewalk bandit strikes again."Octavia threw a fist in the air to someone's announcement. Someone started flying in the dropship after removing his seatbelts. "Check it out, you're dad floated me after all." The boy mocks to Wells.
He replied back to the kid." You should strap in before the parachutes deploy." Two kids start to follow the floating kid to make my sister demand back over her shoulder. "Hey, you two, stay put if you want to live!"
"Mount Weather is life. You must locate those supplies immediately."
The chancellor's voice kept playing beside me as I watched the three. "Hey, you're the traitor who's been in solitary for a year." The spacewalker said to Clarke.
She rolls her eyes at his words. "You're the idiot who wasted a month of oxygen on an illegal spacewalk." The boy smiles at her. "But it was fun. I'm Finn."
Chancellor Jaha rings in my ear when the ship thrashed around. Finn went flying along with two unstrapped boys. "You have one job. One responsibility is stay alive. Finally I must tell you about those wristbsnds-" But he gets cut off over Clarke screaming. "Stay in your seats!"
My heart races when everyone is jilted around screaming when the parachutes deployed. I force my eyes closed trying to figure out why my parents would do this. Why would they send us down here. Finally everything goes silent and Octavia shakes me from my daze, opening my eyes I see two kids on the floor dead, my sister and that guy learning over them. A random kid yells "The outer doors on the lower level- lets go!"
My sister jumps into action firing back as she races for the ladder, I nearly followed her but O pulls me in for a hug before we go down.
"The air could be toxic!" My sister fires at this guy in a guard jacket with his hands on the lever.
"If the airs toxic, we're all dead anyway." His voice meets my ears and I gasped. He can't possibly be here, not for real. Octavia calls out in confusion "Bellamy."
He turns and I cringe at his slicked back hair. I always hated that. She slowly walks to him still dragging me with her. "Those are the girls that were hid under the floor" some random kid states to the crowd.
"My god, look how big you are." Bellamy says with a proud brother smile. They hug and he breaks away and I embrace him in a bear hug.
"Why in the wide world are you wearing this!" I ask in disgust, pulling at the guard jacket. He leans close whispering in my ear "I borrowed it to get on the dropship." I lightly scoff "Borrowed come on bell, I know you all two well - you're way over 18."
Clarke snipes in ruining our moment. "Where's your wristband?" Octavia whipped her head around snapping. "Do you mind. I haven't seen my brother in a year, plus she's his girlfriend!"
Another random prisoner called out. "No one has a brother!" A girl prisoner chimes in with the group who complain. "That's Octavia Blake, the girl they found hidden in the floor."
Octavia nearly attacked right behind me but Bellamy and I each grabbed her by her forearms. "Octavia, Octavia, no!"
A girl prisoner who I remember is named Harper aims her index finger directly at me. "Oh look Kristin Kane! Daddy's girl couldn't live in the floor either. She's Abby Griff-!"
I launched forward punching her in her nose, causing her to stumble backwards into two other prisoners. I flicked my burning wrist snarling in her face. "Don't ever call me that again. You know nothing of my life and how hard it was!" The girl gets to her feet coming close drawing back my fist again I almost swung. Yet a rough hand grabs my wrist my gaze shot up to meet Bellamy's brown eyes. "Kristin babe stand down, you don't have to prove anything to them. . ."
He pauses whispering low in my right ear sending shivers down my spine. "You're already a badass to me." He looks at me and I blush when he takes my hand telling O. "I've got an idea, let's make them remember you girls..."
I cut in raising my brows. "Yeah like what?" Running my hand through his hair I try to get it back to its natural curls. But my plan failed so I huff, letting him keep talking.
"Like being the first person on the ground in 100 years." He pulls the lever and we slowly step down the ramp, hand in hand we jump off the end and scream at the same time. Closing my eyes I take in a huge breath, taking it all in at the bottom of the ramp.
"We're back bitches!" And saying that is the best feeling in the world. O pulls me closer to her and we keep screaming out "Freedom!" I came up with it and it makes sense for the both of us.
Down here my dad can't hurt me.....I don't have to hide anything anymore.
Bellamy lifts me up in the air and I squeal as he spins me around. Setting me on the ground I kiss him and kisses back before he runs off to find O. The Finn guy stands next to my sister. Princess he calls her. Clarke turns her head to me and curses "They dropped us on the wrong dam mountain" Finn glanced my way. I butt in once Clarke and I are alone "Hey I'm Kristin and I'm a --- you're sis-" She gives me a weird look and I don't finish my sentence. We head over to the others and she fights with Bellamy and Octavia.
Clarke, Finn, Octavia and two other boys left to find food. Bellamy keeps his arm firmly around me. I keep messing with this wristband thing, he's been convincing people take them off. We sit down by the fire now as people are around us partying in the distance. He spins pieces of my hair between his fingers and I ruffle his hair making it a mess again. "Kristin, why haven't you got rid of that thing....I mean you're dad was always locking you away like O....you're not a prisoner anymore." He explains and I playfully roll my eyes answering "Bell, it may seem crazy but I still love my dad and plus....my mom is still up there." He butts in "The princess won't take off hers so..." I stand up and groan out "Bellamy enough - you may be able to convince everyone else but not me" After that I walk off leaving him sitting alone by the flames of the fire.
It's been three days since we landed and learned we aren't alone down here. Laying on my back in my makeshift tent- or should I say Bellamy's. He's been letting me sleep here of course he's had to kick out other girls - he's been sleeping around with since we'd landed. The tent flap opened causing me to slightly turn my head, seeing only Bell's head poking in. With a chuckle towards him I move to lay on my side.
"Do my eyes deseve me, is Bellamy Blake checking me out?" He fully slips through the tent flap chuckling while sitting down on the bed, making it dip at his weight.
"Kristin you're such a dork." Pulling him down onto of me I laugh against our kisses "Maybe but I'm your dork." We keep Kissing as his hands move over me with mine in his curls.
"Kristin, Bellamy!" Clarke yells outside the tent making us break apart.
"I guess queen Clarke is calling for us." Bell kisses me quickly pulling us both to our feet, sighing with an arm wrapped around my waist as we walk out.
"Don't fret queen Kristin, she doesn't control us."
The 100 crowd around us as Clarke goes off on Murphy. Bellamy stands arms crossed over his chests. I stand next to him, hands shoved in my pockets. O stands behind me.
"Plenty of people hated wells his father was the chancellor and Kristin's father locked us up.!" Murphy argued pointing out to me as I gringe at the mention of people not liking me because of my dad.
"Come on this is ridiculous. I don't have to answer to you. I don't have to answer to anyone!" Bellamy cuts Murphy off, "Come again?"
He's taking this leader role seriously. It's kinda hot. Wait what did I just say.
Clarke declared "Is this the kind of society that we want? You say there should be no rules. Does that mean we can kill each other without - without punishment!" She points a finger at me and Bell.
People call out to float him. Tears go in my eyes at the haunting memory of watching someone get floated by my dad's command. The crowd grabs him and starts hanging him, fighting against them I shout "You can't do this - this isn't the Ark!" but they don't listen. Connor throws me backwards into Bell's chest. He huffs because of the sudden impact, helping me stand quickly as we watch in shock and horror.
Clarke slams her hands against our chests breaking us from our trances "you and Kristin can stop this. They'll listen to you!"
Connor calls out with a wicked smile "Bellamy you should do it!" My eyes go big as the crowd starts chanting his name. Looking over to Octavia she has a terrific look with the little girl Charlotte. "I saw you in the woods with atom. I know you're not a killer." Clarke tried getting through to Bellamy.
He looks down to me terror in his eyes for only me to see. Gripping his jacket in my shacky hands I begged - knowing Bellamy better than anyone else could never kill someone. "Bell - Bellamy please. I know you better than anyone - you don't want to do this!" He lowers his head to my ear, his hot breath on my neck and tears fall down my face "I'm sorry Kristin. But there's no way out. Forgive me, babe."
He kicked the crate from under Murphy causing Clarke to cry as I stand stunned "How could you!" Clarke sobbed in anger at my boyfriend.
Bellamy pushed her back shouting "This is on you, princess. You should've kept your mouth shut!"
Charlotte screams breaking through the crowd. "Murphy didn't kill wells. I did!"
My knees go weak and I drop, sobbing in the dirt. Bellamy races to me once Clarke cut him down removing the axe from his belt loop. He holds me to his chest as I let it all out. My dad hates me - that's he sent me down here.
Murphy hunts to kill her now. Bellamy, me and her are trapped near the edge of a cliff. I cursed clutching Bell's forearm "Damn it. Bellamy what do we do!" He glanced at me scared before Murphy charges.
"Bellamy, Kristin come on give her up!" I reach my pocket knife I took from a guard on the ark, Clarke states "Just calm down let's talk about this." Murphy starts to grab her but I push her out of the way, getting held instead. My knife drops from my clumsy hands as he threatened Bellamy. "Ah I see, Bellamy's queen attempting to save the princess...what do you say Bellamy, should I slit her throat!" Bellamy eyes me with fear, wanting to RIP me from his hold.
Charlotte begs "Please don't hurt her." Murphy nearly gets her but she ends up jumping and dying off the cliff. Murphy released me as I watch my sis and Bell reach for her and both sob. I try crying but nothing happens all I feel is anger and a slight smirk meets my lips when Bell starts pumiling Murphy. What's happening to me.
Clarke's voice breaks in tears. "Bellamy, stop. You'll kill him!"
Bellamy gets forced off shouting to Clarke. "Get off me, uh! He deserves to die!"
Clarke points an angry finger at his chest, getting up in his face. "No! We don't decide who lives and dies. Not down here!"
"So help me God, if you say the people have a right to decide I'll-" She cuts him off. "No, I was wrong before, ok. You were right. Sometimes it's dangerous to tell people the truth. But if we're gonna survive down here, we can't just live by whatever the hell we want. We need rules."
Bellamy runs a hand over his face, looking at me with regard. "And who makes those rules, huh you?" Forcing myself to my feet, I entered the fight pushing myself in between the pair, ordering in my dad's tone "For now, we make the rules. Ok. You, me and Clarke."
Murphy was banished and Bellamy picks me up bridal style, tired I lay my head against his chest. His eyes dance across me checking for injuries, I can hear his heart racing. Once back at camp he lays me down in his tent while him and Clarke explains the laws of the camp. My eyes shortly fall closed as I attempt to catch my breath. The flap opens and the bed dips, Bell's fingers run through my hair as he sighs tirelessly.
"Things will get better you know, Bellamy." I croke as he lays down next to me. His breathing slows as we grip the other tight, but I jump away as I feel a sting on my right wrist. "Ow, what the-"
My wristband fell off as others outside lose theirs. Glancing up to bell I chuckled with tears "I guess you got what you wanted." Bellamy gives me a weak smile mouthing the words 'you're mom and dad'
Realizing they think I'm dead and that they'll die up there I throw myself into his chest sobbing for hours. He grips me whispering sweet things in my ear before we finally go to sleep.
Abby's POV - Ark
I was sleeping peacefully with my head rested on the table as Jackson and I were monitoring the wristbands signals of The 100. Clarke's went out earlier this morning so now I've been hoping and praying that Kristin's doesn't do the same. The automatic doors slide open making me start to wake from my nap, to see Marcus stride in. His face appears tired and overwhelmed dealing with the Ark running out of oxygen - technically we only had 4 months to live if we didn't reduce population. That's the whole reason why we sent The 100.
Anything new?" He asks Jackson who stood by the monitors controlling table. His gaze falls my way, he holds a straight face trying to not show emotions. But I can read him all too well. Jackson sighed glancing to the screens. "No sir. Nothing new after Clarke Griffin's band went out." I tensed up at the mention of the memory. I was asleep in this same room before the loud warning sound filled the room.
Marcus nods his head turning to leave but that same ear shrieking sound consumes the room. The remaining lit up screens of The 100 flash dark with the words 'Transmission Lost' I jumped to my feet gasping at the sight. This is insane, this shouldn't be happening! They were all fine just minutes ago and there have been barely any changes. My heart races as I try to put the pieces together until Marcus's voice breaks my train of thought.
"Abby!" His tone is concerned as he points with his index finger to Kristin's screen. Her hair is completely loose, brown hair with some blonde highlights as she wore a long sleeved black tea shirt, brown jeans and black boots. I don't dare blink as her screen goes dark with those red words flashing across her face. My legs turn to jelly as I slowly walk to stand beside Marcus who hangs his mouth open as tears slip. I collapse into his arms heavy sobbing and he grunts at having to catch me so suddenly.
"Kristin's - gone! What kind of father am I, Abby!" He sobs against my chest as I try to wipe my tears away, clutching the fabric of his jacket. I have faith in Clarke - Kristin and her are both strong kids. I tilt his chin up to look me in the eye, seeing we are on the same level. "Marcus, look at me. Hope is everything.... our girl is so strong as the two of us - she'll survive." He sniffs resting his forehead against my own as I hug him closer to my chest.
What kind of parents are we to send our daughter to the ground to die

FAMILY HISTORY : Michelle is the fourth generation of her family to be born and raised on the Ark. About a decade prior the Nuclear Apocalypse, an ancestor of hers moved from China to the US, in her 20s. She married an Hawaiian-born man who was a little older than her, from the US Navy. Their names were Mei Chen and John R. Kealoha and together had a daughter they named Aolani in the early 2050s Her name was a traditional Hawaiian name meaning “Heavenly cloud”, given to commemorate the new world on the Ark, above the clouds. She was the first generation to be born and raised on the Ark. Aolani admired her father very much for his military background on earth and joined the Ark Guard as a late teen, in a way to follow his footsteps. She thus worked her way up from cadet and reached the rank of commander while in her early or mid thirties. At that time, she met a man from the same nation, a certain Michael Cartwig, an American man of British descent. In the early 2080s, they had a son they named Jonathan. A name similar to that of her own father to honor him. Jonathan Cartwig later on had a daughter, Callie Cartwig, in early 2100s, who had herself a daughter, Michelle, a similar name to her grandfather’s. Unfortunately, her grandparents and great-grandparents all died prior to her birth in September 2131 from unknown causes.
EARLY LIFE : Michelle was born on the Ark to Callie Cartwig who was an officer in the Ark, of chinese, Hawaiian and British descent. Her mother was very loving and present for her, providing her daughter with a happy and innocent childhood. Callie raised her daughter in a positive way for her to become a good and strong person able to survive in this new world they had built up in space. Michelle held her mother’s kindness and bravery in high regards and looked up to her, wanting to be like her growing up. But, there was a fly in the ointment and it was that she never knew her father and for whatever reason her mother was very firm not to talk about it so it sometimes led to rather heated arguments between the two. And because of it, as a teenager, Michelle became more secretive, setting a certain distance between the two of them. She thought that because her mother kept things from her, she was going to do the same and their close relationship started to crack, hurting her mother a lot in the process. When Clarke told her and Wells about the Ark’s fate, she kept it from her mother and when charges were pressed against Jake Griffin, Clarke was arresed as well and Michelle lost it upon seeing her childhood best friend being taken away. She assaulted a guard and got herself convicted and imprisoned as she was younger than 18. Callie, whose relationship with her daughter was already declining, she was devastated. The officer went to Marcus Kane after her daughter’s arrest to ask for his help but he told her he couldn’t do anything and that no one is above the laws. She was even more crushed by the fact that she was forbidden by the council to ever visit her child because they thought she might try to get her out. It was obviously a recommendation from Kane, which Michelle will held him accountable for.

PERSONALITY : Michelle is similar to Clarke when it comes to her personality. They could be seen as the definition of the expression “birds of a feather flock together”, quite literally. Michelle was loyal and ready to do whatever it takes to help her friends. Despite what happens with her mom or more generally on the Ark, Callie did a great job raising her. She became in her image, brave, kind and trustworthy. But, Michelle can be a little quick-tempered and sarcastic sometimes, when her emotions take over her logic but she was taught strategical thinking by her mom and is very smart. If she is hurt or wronged, or close friends of hers are, she won’t think twice about going after the people that attacked them. For example, when Clarke was arrested and taken away by guards, she assaulted a couple of them vigurously and went as far as hurting herself by hitting them, so bad that she had bloody knuckles and had to be taken care of before being incarcerated. She also spat out at Councilman Kane’s face because it was him who was after the charges that had been pressed against the teenager.
Like Clarke, she calls people out on their behavior, usually, but when the heart is involved, she is reluctant to do so even if she knows the person(s) in question are in the wrong. This is yet another exemple of how her emotions can get in the way, but she isn’t blind and if these people have to be punished and it isn’t for no reason, she won’t stop it, no matter how bad it hurts her to let it happen. When she was told that her mother had died on the Ark by Abby Griffin and Kane when they landed on the ground, she was in shock, so much that she just froze and burst into tears, becoming as vulnerable as one can be. The death of her mother, without ever having been able to say goodbye will haunt her and lead to her suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder resulting in her shutting down sometimes, especially when she feels overwhelmed by what is happening at the moment.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE : Michelle is a young woman of Chinese, Hawaïan and British descent, according to what her mom told her. She has a rather tanned olive complexion with an oval face, dark brown almond-shaped eyes so dark they sometimes seem to be pitch black, and thick black straight hair. She stands at 5'5" (167cm), a few inches taller with her boots on reaching 5′6″-5′7″ (172 cm), and has an hourglass body shape, with a slim figure.
She styles her hair in a ponytail or a braid that goes down her back and strands of hair framing her face. She looks a lot like her mother but, her nose is a bit straighter and shorter than hers and her lips were slimmer but she figured it was features she inherited from whoever was her father. Michelle always wears a light, green khaki field deck jacket, which belonged to her great-great-grandfather who was in the US Navy and this jacket was passed down in her family, making it a unique hundred-year-old piece of clothing, a black tank top or plain T-shirt underneath, dark jeans and knee high lace up buckle military combat boots. She makes her whole style about her military heritage because she is very proud of it.

There's a Kind of Hush All Over the World
a The 100 fanfic

Bellamy and Clarke share a quiet moment after the events in the City of Light. 1397 words | [PG]
---
I wrote this story back in 2016--one of the first The 100 fics I ever wrote, but I was never satisfied with it. In an effort this year to post old, mostly-finished stories, I edited this, and I'm putting it out there as is. It's not the greatest quality, but it's finished and out in the world now. Also, not sure the title relates to the story much, but it's what I named it back then so I'm just sticking with it. I think I planned for this to be much more, but it is what it is.
---
Cleaning up is going to be hard, Bellamy thinks, looking around the throne room as confused and wounded Arkadians and Grounders alike come out of their chip-induced stupor. The blood can be washed away; wounds can be stitched, but their souls have been shattered by the things they were made to do. None of them will ever be the same. They all have demons lurking, haunting their dreams. Some more than others.
He watches Clarke leave. She said she wanted some time alone. To think. To process what had just happened. He wants to be the friend that gives her space, but he’s worried. About more than just her and what happened in the City of Light. He’s worried about how her experience will affect everyone. Honestly, he’s afraid she’ll leave again. He hates that he feels this way—that he’s scared of her walking out the door. She said they’d do things together from now on, but... And he hates that he can’t trust her the way she trusts him. Is it really so wrong that he needs some kind of reassurance after Mount Weather?
He works his way through the room, avoiding the fallen and the mourning and the devastated. In one corner, Miller is leaning against the wall, Bryan curled in his lap as Miller runs his fingers through his hair. He’s not looking very well. Bellamy’s eyes dart over to Abby, but she’s got her own mess to clean up. Kane is so wracked with guilt and whatever emotions are running through his head that he can’t move.
All around the room similar scenes repeat themselves as people recover.
Bellamy finds Clarke down the hall, head in her hands. She doesn’t say anything when he slides down the wall to sit next to her. She doesn’t say anything when he puts a reassuring hand on her shoulder, not sure what else he can do for her. And he doesn’t say anything when she leans her head on his shoulder. Or pushes her face into the crook of his neck as she cries. He just holds her, running little circles over her back. Because what else can he do?
Eventually her sobs slow. Then stop. She sniffles, wiping at her nose. He loosens his grip so she can sit up, but doesn’t take his hand from her back. He thinks he needs the contact more than Clarke. She was always the stronger one.
“Sorry,” she says.
“What are friends for?” He’s trying for lighthearted, but there’s too much hanging in the air—too much death and despair weighing down on them.
She laughs anyway—a hallow, distant sound. He can’t remember if he’s ever heard her laugh for real. Their life—the one they’ve shared on the ground—has always been this. Full of pain and fear and uncertainty. From the moment he met her on the dropship, arguing about opening the door, to fighting for their lives against an invading Grounder army, to rescuing their friends from Mount Weather, to this. Have there ever been moments where they just sat?
“What are you thinking?” she asks.
When he looks down, her head is against his shoulder, her eyes shut. He adjusts his arm draped across her, hoping it isn’t too obvious that he’s pulling her closer. When he doesn’t answer right away, her eyes flutter open to look at him. She looks tired. Not the kind of tiredness that comes from a loss of sleep, but the kind of bone-weary tiredness that comes from never resting. He just stares at her until he realizes she probably actually wants an answer.
He clears his throat, looks away. “I was just thinking how we never get this. To just rest. There’s always some new crisis on the horizon.”
She sighs. “There’s more to come.” Her voice drifts off. “There’s always more.”
Bellamy squeezes her shoulder, letting her know he’ll be there by her side no matter what. He’s seen what happens when they’re apart—worlds crumble, people die. Then again, that happens when they’re together. But at least then he doesn’t hate himself so much in the aftermath.
He’s not sure when he fell asleep, but he’s woken with a kick to his leg. He blinks up at Murphy. “What?” He yawns then leans his head against the wall, letting his eyes close again.
“Everyone’s heading back.”
“Back where?”
“Arkadia. Home. Whatever. Guess they’re going to sort it all out there.”
“Great,” Bellamy murmurs. a few moments pass, but he’s still aware of Murphy standing there. “What?” he asks again.
Murphy jams his hands in his pockets, his skin up to his elbows is still coated in dark black blood. Bellamy tries to quell his irritation, remembering what Murphy did for Clarke.
“Are you coming or what?”
Bellamy opens his eyes, frowning. “You’re going?”
Murphy shrugs. “I don’t have anything here. Neither does Emori. Not sure we’ll stay, though.”
“I’d offer you a spot on the Guard, but I don’t trust you any farther than I can throw you.”
“I just saved your girlfriend’s ass. You should be a little more appreciative.”
“And Clarke saved Emori, so I guess we’re even.”
“That doesn’t count—wasn’t you.”
Bellamy cocks his head. “What about the elevator?”
“I had to yell at you to shoot him. And I saved your ass in the tunnels.”
“Because we were in the way of your escape-”
“Guys,” Clarke says, “I’m trying to sleep. Can you have your lover’s quarrel some other time?”
They both look down at her, her head nuzzled against Bellamy’s shoulder. Bellamy bites back a smile. Murphy snorts, shaking his head. Then he gives a dramatic bow. “Whatever you say, princess.” He starts to walk away then turns, walking backward. “I better have a good job waiting. None of this sweeping up after people. A real job.” He disappears around the corner.
They’re both quiet for a while. Bellamy knows he should go help load the wounded up, get things organized for the march back to Arkadia, but he doesn’t have the strength to leave Clarke—it’s the first time he’s seen her rest in, well, in ever. She squirms, trying to get comfortable, so he pulls her closer, resting his cheek on the top of her head.
“Can we just stay here forever?” he asks.
“Right here in this very spot?”
“Yeah. I’m good here.” He yawns again.
There’s a rumble of voices from the end of the hall. Something crashes. The voices get louder. Bellamy’s head falls back against the wall. It lasted all of five minutes. Clarke sighs. She pushes away from him leaving his side cold. She gets to shaky feet and looks down at him. She appears so much bigger from down here—so much larger than life, like the way he has her built up in his head.
“Come on,” she says, reaching a hand out. “It’s time to go put the world back together.”
He doesn’t argue. He doesn’t hesitate. He takes her hand as she helps him to his feet. For a few seconds, their fingers stay entwined. There are words on the tip of his tongue—things he wants to tell her before it’s too late, things he’s kept to himself for too long, things he’ll continue to hold back because it’s never the right time. She bites her bottom lip as she watches him.
“What are you thinking?” he asks her. Because he really does want to know.
She looks away, her fingers leaving with her eyes. He squeezes his hand into a fist, trying to push away the feel of her touch before it plants too deeply in his heart.
“I’m thinking it’s a long walk back to Arkadia.”
He falls into step next to her just like he always does. Just like he always will if he has any say in it. “That is not what you were thinking.”
“How do you know? It’s my brain.”
He smiles down at her. “Because, princess, you are always three steps ahead of whatever is going on. Walking home is only step one. So where’s your head?”
The corners of her lips pull up in a very rare genuine Clarke smile. “Already in Arkadia having a long shower and an even longer nap.”
He laughs. “Sounds like a plan I can get behind.” They turn the corner side-by-side. Together.

Retrospective: The 100′s Top 5 Male Characters
Last week it was female characters, today it is male characters: My Official List of my favourite male characters.
Let the hotness begin. I kid. Well, mostly. Some of it is looks, but mostly it is personality and storyline.
5. Thelonious Jaha (Isaiah Washington)
Time would have been that it would have been Kane on this list and not Jaha, but in the end, Jaha was the best leader of Team Adults, and that’s for one simple reason: Lack of judgment.
Other adult leaders, like Kane and Abby and Indra, were all full of judgment of how the younger generation stepped up to leadership and the decisions they made - even when they had made precisely those same decisions in their turns in leadership. But Jaha didn’t do that. He merely tried to advise them, relating to their experiences, explaining how they found themselves in similar positions, and guided them to making the best decisions that they could. He plays a mentor role to most of the delinquent mains at one point or another, and in terms of leadership advice Clarke, Bellamy and Octavia all learned from him, though I daresay the only one who really understood his lessons was Octavia.
4. Roan kom Azgeda (Zach McGowan)
When Roan first appeared on my screen, I was smitten. I looked at Zach in his other projects, and was also smitten. There’s just something about a sexy guy with long hair that does it for me, I dunno. I also appreciated Roan for his ability to reason and his level-headedness, and especially his constant willingness to call Clarke out on her shit and for being a colonizer. I also appreciated his respect for Octavia, he understood the moves she made, even if her own “people” didn’t.
3. Ilian kom Trishanakru (Chai Hansen)
Why would Octavia’s rebound lover be on this list instead of Lincoln? How in the world could I do that? Well, it’s simple, really - Ilian challenged her in a way Lincoln didn’t, and plus he is why I’m in this damn fandom to begin with. I’ve talked before about how Chai Hansen was my infection vector for this fandom - he’d been cast on Shadowhunters, he was Hot with a Capital H, so I wanted to see what else he was in and stumbled across this show.
But I appreciate the character of Ilian for more than just Chai’s good looks. I appreciate him because he pushed Octavia out of her comfort zone to address inner conflicts she was having and didn’t coddle her, but he did also save her life. The only other person who has ever done all of that is Diyoza.
2. John Murphy (Richard Harmon)
I mean. It’s Murphy. Do I really have to say more? He’s the same character profile as Octavia - the underdog, the misunderstood hero, and they have so many parallels in their story arcs. Murphy’s is more linear than Octavia’s though, which is why I’ll always love her best, since her journey is far more complicated. But both of their journeys teach a lot about the importance of things like love and acceptance and yes, also sometimes going off into the wilderness with an older mentor where the journey then brings a hope they didn’t know they needed.
Murphy has the second best character arc of the entire series, after Octavia. Richard is by far the best male actor on this show. Like Marie, he’s been able to seamlessly move between the different evolutions of Murphy and I expect great things for him in the future.
1. Eric Jackson (Sachin Sahel)
Perhaps a surprising result - a recurring character? One who hasn’t ever had a huge plotline of his own? But no, there is no mistake here. While Jackson didn’t make a huge impression on me the first four seasons, with his growth, bravery and loyalty in season 5 - which carried on into seasons 6 and 7 - he grew on me.
The moment Jackson proved himself to me was in 5x09 when he was ready to take on Indra to protect Octavia and see justice done. And unlike turncoats like Miller, he stuck by his principles, standing up to Abby, trying to help Miller not be such an asshole come to terms with his past and accept it for what it was. I will always appreciate him for that. And if you follow him on social media, Sachin is just a wonderful human being too. All my respect to Sachin and the quiet but steadfast and loyal character he created in Eric Jackson.
Honourable Mentions: Lincoln kom Trikru (he was loved), David Miller (winner of the Best Dad award) and Jacapo Sinclair (also one of the best of Team Adults).
Next up: 100 Episodes, Ranked. (This is going to need a number of posts.)

The 100 rewatch: 5x04 Pandora’s Box
Another excellent episode, maybe a little less action-packed than Sleeping Giants but still fast, full of tension, new information, and many warm reunions and nice character moments - which are important to see before all these characters start having conflicts and many of these relationships get strained to the point of almost breaking later in the season.
This one picks up immediately after the last scenes of both 5x02 (the bunker - cliffhanger with Kane as one of the fighters in the pit) and 5x03 (Eden with Bellamy, Clarke and the prisoners after Bellamy has negotiated with Diyoza, Raven and Murphy on Eligius 4), brings everyone together*, as the prisoners open the bunker and Wonkru finally gets out - and ends with the conflict that means that war between Wonkru and the Eligius prisoners is imminent. The Pandora’s Box has been opened, to use another one of Bellamy’s Greek mythology references. (Oddly enough, he makes that reference in the next episode, not in this one.)
(*Well, not everyone - Monty, Harper, Emori, Echo and Madi are MIA this episode. hiding somewhere in Eden, before they also reunite with the rest of Spacekru plus Clarke plus Wonkru in the next episode.)
If I hadn’t seen season 5 before, I’d be thinking “Will this be the best season of the show?” It is by far the season with the strongest beginning - before the plot starts to drag, building conflicts within both camps. so that war would not happen until the two-part finale. Strong beginning, strong ending, poor middle part.
After the epic Bellarke scene at the end of 5x03, this episode delivers their actual reunion, with another one of those incredibly intimate and intense hugs that Bellamy and Clarke are known for. They tend to grow in intensity, and I’ll just say this: when Tumblr flagged gifs of this hug as “explicit”, well - for once I could see why poor Tumblr bots were getting confused:
A reunion after 6 years, during which Bellamy believed Clarke to be dead, while Clarke didn’t know if Bellamy was alive but still called him on the radio and talked to him every day for 2199 days, has to be pretty epic, and this scene delivers. It seems almost like Clarke - who had been badly tortured - wasn’t entirely sure if that was really Bellamy who emerged out of the darkness to save her, of if she was imagining it, with the way she says “You are really here!”, while crying out of happiness. The intimacy in the body language and the way they look at each other is also reflected in Clarke telling him “And now you’re home!” This goes way beyond how platonic partners and non-romantic best friends interact with each other. The scene is not just acted but directed and shot in such a way that anyone who would see it without knowing Clarke and Bellamy’s actual relationship status, would get the wrong (?) idea. For a moment, they even look like people who have been caught making out, like they don’t want these strangers to witness such an intimate moment.
Even if she did not see this scene in particular, it’s no surprise that Diyoza assumed Clarke and Bellamy were a couple (“the hostage taker and his girlfriend”) after what she saw of their interactions. Really, who wouldn’t?
Bellamy quickly updates Clarke on how everyone is - Madi, Spacekru, acknowledges that Clarke has saved them all (something multiple people do in this early part of the season) and that all of the people who went to space are safe. (”Murphy, Monty, Raven?” “Echo and Emori”. - But why the Harper erasure? This is one of the very few lines in this episode that feel wrong. She’ one of the Delinquents both of them have known since they landed on Earth and Clarke would logically care about her more than Echo, who, she barely knew and who was her enemy 90% of the time. )
Another beautiful reunion happens by radio - Murphy and Raven learn that Clarke is alive. Murphy smiles the moment he hears her voice, and Raven, teary-eyed, thanks Clarke for saving their lives. The Spacekru have been criticized a lot in the fandom for not appreciating Clarke’s sacrifice, but it has to be said that, right after they learned she was alive, they all acknowledged it and expressed gratitude. (Some of them were just later angry at her and not so ready to try to understand her perspective after living isolated for 6 years.) This is one of the very few moments of happiness in season 5 (whenever I see that screenshot of Clarke and Bellamy’s big smiles, I mistake it for a moment for a BTS photo. That’s how rare it is to see characters looking happy on the actual show.)
…………………….
Meanwhile, over in the bunker, no one is happy. and everything is dark, sad and disturbing. Octavia is full Blodreina and acting like a Roman Emperor, deciding if gladiators get to earn their freedom or not. because even being “the last” doesn’t necessarily earn you freedom now - it all comes down to the Queen’s whim. Kane is forced to fight in the pit again tomorrow. I suppose they already have the next batch of fighters ready - it would be a bit weird if she expected a bunch of new “crimes” tomorrow. But things must have gotten progressively worse if they’re now having death matches every day. If they had been condemning people to the pits at that pace throughout those 6 years, even more than 1/3 of the Wonkru would be dead.
One thing I had not noticed before - there is a singer, singing an anthem or ceremonial song before the fights start, and it is the same woman who sang the Coalition anthem in 3x03. This somewhat changes my views of the way Grounder clans chose 100 people to survive the bunker. At least one of the clans was smart enough to include a musician, rather than a bunch of warriors. There should have been even more musicians and other entertainers (you’d expect a culture like Grounders to have some sort of epic poetry!), as that would’ve helped the life in the bunker much more than warriors (and there could have been entertainment that does not include killing). But this was probably an exception, because this person probably had a high status as a ceremonial singer.
Our first look at Abby after the time jump - and she is obviously in a bad state and pill-addicted, and both she and Kane look tired and worn down. He is protecting her and taking the guilt for her crime - stealing pills, since Abby is obviously in no state to fight - and on her part, Abby wants to confess and spare him. But Indra - who has been helping them and is clearly unhappy with the way Blodreina is ruling - is more rational and knows Kane winning is the only way to save them both. Kane, however, is choosing to take a stand and refuse to fight.
Kane and Abby got a lot of flak from the fandom and were accused of hypocrisy for their attitude to Octavia later in the season - with the argument that Abby was the one who persuaded Octavia to go through with cannibalism and killing people for refusing to ear, and that Kane knew Abby’s role in it but blamed Octavia. All these arguments presume that they were blaming Octavia for the cannibalism and everything else that happened the Dark Year. But in fact, there’s zero indication that this is what they blamed her for, and it’s pretty clear that the reason why they - and others - have issues with Blodreina is that she’s been ruling by fear and throwing people into fighting pits for all sorts of reasons, and generally being a scary tyrant/leader of a cult of death and violence. Yes, as we learn later, Abby was a crucial part of how Octavia turned into that person, but that doesn’t change the fact that she is that person now, that she has absolute power in the bunker, and people have been living in fear of her.
Kane tries to plead with Octavia when she comes to tell him he has to fight, and at this point, he seems to still believe she could change and start making better decisions. What feels a bit off to me is that he says he’s been silent for too long - this can’t be the first time he’s tried to change her mind? He would have probably had a lot more chance to succeed if he tried much earlier. We get the first mention of the infamous “Dark Year” (this is also the episode where we first hear “All of me for all of us”) and see Octavia getting upset at its very mention (a reveal will be dragged out for 6 more episodes). It’s interesting that Jaha and Kane both mentioned Aurora Blake’s fate in their speeches to Octavia, but they used it to say completely different things. Jaha was saying that this is what you have to do, execute everyone who is the “enemy” because they endanger your survival in any way, even if it’s having one more child. Kane was saying that’s what they shouldn’t be doing anymore, she shouldn’t be doing what they did on the Ark, but do better. Octavia ended up taking Jaha’s advice, which shaped her as leader, for better or worse. (Mostly worse, IMO.) She could have maybe taken Kane’s advice years ago, but now it’s clearly too late.
If anything, Kane’s refusal to fight makes her more determined than ever to break him - she doesn’t want to condemn him to death, she wants to break his resistance and his stubborn insistence on morality. I don’t approve of all of Kane’s later actions in season 5, but it’s really not hard to see why, after these experiences and everything in the bunker, he thought Blodreina’s rule was the worst thing that could happen.
And then - like a Deus ex machina, the bunker door opens and Bellamy is literally coming down from above, into the darkness of Octavia’s underground realm, as the savior, bathed in light, It’s the second episode in a row where he comes as a Big Damn Hero in almost dreamlike scene, from a POV of a woman in his life, this time his sister. For a moment, Blodreina is Octavia again and hugs her brother. Clarke comes down a moment later (but she is not bathed in light - she looks at the Blake siblings from the shadows.)
Instead of hugging, Clarke and Octavia greet each other with a forearm handshake - which is quite an interesting choice, particularly since (thanks @jeanie205) this is apparently a type of greeting associated with Roman generals greeting each other. (But only in Hollywood movies, It wasn’t a thing in actual Roman history.)
In addition to all the reunions, some characters meet for the first time - such as Octavia and Diyoza, who are about to become rival leaders on two sides of the war. Who could have known what their relationship would turn into in season 6 and season 7?
I love the way that everyone - Bellamy, Clarke, Diyoza and the rest of the prisoners - have the “WTF is this” look when they see the fighting pit (which is all covered in blood - apparently, they don’t wash it. It’s an aesthetic, I guess.) Bellamy soon asks Octavia what the heck she’s doing (and guesses exactly what inspired her: “Someone must have read Ovid one too many times). It’s an experience she hasn’t had in years - to have her decisions questioned by someone who’s not one of her subjects and not afraid of her.
More reunions follow: Clarke and Abby, Bellamy and Miller (another relationship that will turn sour in the rest of the season), Clarke and Kane.
Meanwhile, on Eligius 4, Raven finds more info about Diyoza backstory - Colonel Diyoza was "something called Navy SEAL" (it makes sense that Arkers wouldn’t know about such things), decorated for valor three times, before turning into a rebel/terrorist, and leader of a movement called United Liberation Army. As we see in these articles, civilians died in these attacks, which is something Diyoza regrets in season 7 - even if her cause was right, her means were wrong.
Raven and Murphy have some fun playing soccer, but they’re also worried about the fact they may need to murder 283 people. Raven finds it hard, so Murphy offers to do it to spare her. It’s typical for their relationship that Murphy tends to see Raven as someone better and more moral than himself (in spite of the fact that she once tried to sacrifice him instead of Fin), while Raven often says disparaging things about him, even though she is fond of him.
One thing I found a bit odd that Murphy at one point says: “Why do you have to always be the one to sacrifice?” - even though this was just the second time Raven has decided to sacrifice herself, and he wasn’t even around for the first time - trying to blow the bridge in 1x10. But Murphy seems to have a somewhat idealized view of Raven, driven by his guilt over crippling her and his self-loathing. Or maybe he meant the others in the group in general. as he sees himself as the selfish cockroach as opposed to them. (Note: I initially wrote this in my 5x03 review, before I realized it was actually said in this episode. That’s what happens when you finalize posts after having seen two episodes ahead.)
Raven and her future love interest Shaw try to outsmart each other in hacking (Raven even kind of flips a bird at Shaw at one point - it’s like they are having a digital meet cute without having even met.)
But when Diyoza finds a way to outsmart Spacekru by suffocating Raven and Murphy - Raven tells Murphy to pull the lever (usually Clarke’s job) and kill the prisoners; and when he hesitates, she goes into her fierce/ruthless mode and goes “Fine, I’ll do it”, before Murphy comes up with the smart solution that prioritizes survival and also doesn’t include mass murder - a win-win, except it also takes away Bellamy’s leverage.
I wonder where the standoff between Wonkru and the Eligius prisoners would have led after Diyoza took Abby and Kane with her and announced her people were taking over Eden? Would war still have been inevitable? I can’t see Octavia giving up on Eden so easily. In any case, the war here was started by an idiot who shot an incredibly destructive weapon at Octavia just because her arrogant Blodreina grin pissed her off. (This guy, called Szybunka, is a part of McCreary’s faction, and here we first learn that they are preparing a rebellion against Diyoza, though McCreary thinks it’s still not time for it.)
A lot more deaths were prevented by Shaw, Major props for him in this episode both for that, and because he is the first person to finally make the point that there are so few people left of the human race and that it is incredibly stupid to kill more of them
Octavia immediately blames Bellamy for everything - even though he was the reason why she and Wonkru got out of the bunker instead of being stuck there forever/ And this time, I’m sure this was 100% meant to highlight that she has a habit of unfairly placing blame on Bellamy whenever something goes wrong in her life.
Body count: I haven’t been doing these for a while, but now I’m doing the body count for the entire season 5 so far:
Wonkru - we learn in this episode that, out of the 1200 people in the bunker, there are 814 remaining. So, 386 - almost a third - died during those 6 years. That includes 3 people who died in the fighting pit. An additional Wonkru member is killed by the idiot Szybunka while protecting Octavia, leaving 813.
Eligius prisoners - two of the party on Earth were killed by Madi and Clarke in 5x01, Four more were killed in 5x03 - one shot by Clarke, another one mercy killed by Diyoza after getting into one of Clarke’s traps, two more shot by Madi to save Bellamy, Monty, Harper, Emori and Echo. On the ship, Kodiak, the big guy Diyoza activated as a weapon (”activate Kodiak!”) was killed in self-defense by Bellamy with help from Echo and Raven. And in 5x04, Szybunka is killed by McCreary for his stupidity. This leaves 282 prisoners on the ship and an unknown smaller number on Earth.
Rating: 8/10

Day 27
100 Days of 100 Prompts
Grounder Bellamy / Marriage Alliance AU (Because I LOVE these tropes lol)
(I imagine Wells and Miller as her co-leaders/seconds in this scenario. Let’s just pretend Charlotte is either still dealing with her nightmares or wandered into the fog or something. Either way, she doesn’t kill Wells. Which means, Murphy doesn’t get blamed for it, doesn’t chase Charlotte, or get exiled, doesn’t come back with a plague or shoot Raven. Wow, look at those dominoes pick themselves back up.)
When Clarke finds the cages in the mountain and releases Anya, she also stops and releases all of them. They find weapons, take out the guards, find her people and let them know what’s going on and of course they help. It turns into a battle, since her people aren’t locked up and the grounder ‘army’ isn’t let go. They let the innocent live and Clarke will even offer to donate bone marrow so they can survive. MAYA LIVES! (I’m imagining that it’s only the mountain men ‘rebels’ who helped in canon that survive but you could have it being more or less) Clarke also learns about the reapers and says she might be able to cure them. Some of the grounders aren’t healed enough to leave yet anyway so they stay to recuperate (since it’s safe to do so now) and a few go out to round up the reapers and Clarke is able to slowly detox them. Monty and Raven help with the medical machines and files so they can figure it all out. The grounders heal up, and leave, taking the news of her conquest with them.
Lexa is dealing with the aftermath and it’s not looking good. Nia is starting shit about how the commander couldn’t defeat the mountain but this little space girl did. Lexa decides that an alliance via marriage is the only way to make sure Nia doesn’t stir up a revolt and use this as an opportunity to dethrone her. She needs to make sure Clarke is tied to the coalition beyond a shadow of a doubt. Lexa invites Clarke to Polis to talk about an alliance. Miller and Murphy go with her while Wells stays behind to lead in her absence. At first Lexa will try to force the issue, saying she will pick out her best warrior for Clarke but Clarke is obviously against this idea. She doesn’t care if they are a good warrior, if they are going to be her partner then she wants a partner. Someone she can learn to trust and lead with her, guide her. This isn’t how the grounders normally do things but Lexa gives way and offers to have representatives sent from each clan. She will be able to choose her partner but it must be from those representatives. Clarke reluctantly agrees because she knows they need this alliance. Miller isn’t happy about it for Clarke’s sake and Murphy is just worried about the grounders in general. They follow Clarke’s lead though. Skaikru won’t survive out of the coalition and the coalition might not survive without Skaikru’s support of Lexa against Nia. (As a side bit, now would be a good time for Murphy to meet Emori in the market and connect with her. Eventually she’ll be adopted into Skaikru)
Bellamy is from Shallow Valley. He is their best warrior and is sent to Polis as their representative but he is not happy about it. He lives apart from the main village with his sister and mother. They’ve been hiding Octavia since they learned she was a night blood when she was born and told the rest of the village that they lost the baby. No one questioned their move from the main village and just assumed it was her grief. But when he gets called to Polis, Octavia sneaks out and follows him after leaving a note for her mom. By the time he realises it, it’s too late to turn back and take her home. She reasons that no one will know her there but he is furious because all it would take is one tiny cut and she’d be exposed. She promises to be super careful and there isn’t a lot he can do about it now.
Bellamy is worried about being chosen and how that would effect his life and his sister. He is torn though because it would be beneficial to be the one to secure the alliance. The Skaiheda might even be able to offer Octavia her own protection in case she was ever exposed. He ultimately decides to just be himself and not try to charm her or drive her away. He’ll leave it up to her.
For her part Clarke is charmed by him because he is himself. The others are trying to either charm her, intimidate her, or are mostly indifferent and she doesn’t really connect with any of them. She likes how laid back Bellamy is and she’s seen him worry over his sister as well and finds it adorable. She can tell he’s a good man and thinks she’d be able to learn to trust him and maybe even love him one day. She knows that at the very least he’s her best bet.
Bellamy is actually rather surprised to be chosen. She hadn’t told him before hand, mainly because she hadn’t had the chance to. She had mentioned it to Lexa when she had asked how things were going and the very next morning Lexa announces her choice.
Things progress fast from there and it feels like a whirlwind to Clarke. They are to be married that night. Clarke gets some time to talk to him about it before she is whisked away to prepare. He hesitantly asks why she chose him and she tells him honestly that he’s the only one she could see herself having a future with and getting along with, that she wanted a partner. He grins at her and thinks this might turn out even better than he had hoped for. After the wedding they are shown to a new room for the two of them and Clarke starts undressing. She had been told that they would need to consummate the union tonight for it to be official. She had been nervous about that, knowing that there would likely be guards stationed right outside their room but honestly her new husband is gorgeous and sweet and she’s sure she can forget about her eavesdroppers. Bellamy however, wasn’t expecting her to be quite so willing and tries to offer her an out. She pauses and asks if he doesn’t want to have sex with her. He emphatically denies that and tells her she’s gorgeous but he doesn’t want to rush her or force her, they can do this in their own time. She smiles and reaches up for a kiss and tells him this time works fine for her. So they establish that they find the other attractive, they generally like each other and they are married and both of them want it to work beyond the alliance. They are on the same page, none of that pining, slow burn, back and forth. This is just two people slowly falling in love. So the alliance is secured. Bellamy brings her to Shallow Valley to introduce her to his mother. Skaikru have mainly taken over the mountain at this point and Clarke says his mother can come live with them instead of being alone out here in the woods. They aren’t panning on living IN the mountain forever. They want to build above it since they don’t want to be trapped like they were on the ark. For now though, they leave the doors open (since the remaining mountain men have the bone marrow now) and go back and forth until they can get the cabins built. Octavia is thrilled to be able to be around so many people without fear. Bellamy has by now explained his sisters situation and Clarke has assured him that she will protect her at all costs. Bellamy leads by her side and they manage to build up a respectable clan. Clarke learns more about grounder healing from Nyko and teaches him a few things as well like CPR and other things she learned on the ark. Octavia meets Lincoln on one of her visits since she goes with Clarke sometimes to learn. Clarke and Bellamy fall a little more in love with each other every day and she falls pregnant pretty quickly. She’s about 6 months pregnant when the Ark falls to Earth.
Part 2 (I separated this because it could be left out entirely and left more open ended but I wanted to add it in anyway for anyone who happens to be very ambitious lol) As Skaiheda, she takes the initiative to send someone to Polis and takes a group out to check on the survivors. She isn’t sure if the rest of the ark will fall in line or be their own clan and is worried about how this will disrupt things. She is happy they are alive of course but this also makes things much more complicated. Abby is happy to see her but shocked at her state. Clarke introduces her husband but they don’t have time for explanations yet. They get the wounded taken care of. Clarke has a doctor and nurse from the mountain as well as Octavia and Nyko with her to help. Later Clarke will request to speak to whoever is in charge and Abby is a bit taken aback but grabs Kane and they have a meeting. Clarke will explain what has happened since the 100 landed, the grounders, the alliance, and how she is the Skaiheda. If they want to be considered Skaikru then they must recognize her leadership, otherwise they will be known as Spacekru and they won’t be part of the coalition. They will have to negotiate for themselves. Abby is shocked, Kane is confused and patronizing and Byrne is furious. Clarke tells them she will give them a few days to think on it and that she will be back to answer questions later. Abby refuses to let her go and Bellamy steps between them. He’s already cataloged the exits, guards, and weapons, he knows the best way to get her out of here but is giving them a chance and a warning. Abby bursts out that she’s just a child and Clarke responds with ‘I haven’t been a child since you sent me down here to die.’
Basically this part is just politics and the Ark struggling to figure things out. Will they be able to bend and learn the ways of the ground? Can they accept Clarke as their leader or will they try to make their own way? And of course Clarke is dealing with all this and conferring with Lexa and keeping her up to date and all while heavily pregnant. I’m not sure how I want this to all play out yet. There are so many ways it could go.
