mountain getting passed down as the air* ghouls' puppy

it started with zephyr, of course. it wasn't the only way they played with him, but it was only with them- none of the boys had the right touch, the right temperament to treat him the way he needed and make his mind dissolve. but zephyr did, and then they're taken away.

he likes the new air ghoulettes, gets close to them even, but he misses zephyr, misses the leather around his neck. he didn't realize how deeply it had worked its way into him until there's an itch in his skin that grows worse every day, his thoughts racing, mind never letting him rest. he gets so desperate for a reprieve he comes to cumulus, tail between his legs, face flushed, barely speaking above a whisper, but she agrees. and when she tightens the collar around his throat, it all goes quiet, and the way it makes him melt has her addicted in no time.

but nothing's fair, and eventually she stays behind, too. it's not the same, she's still waiting for them back home, but he's not sure he can go a whole tour without that space to retreat to. cirrus tries her hand at it, but that kind of gentleness doesn't come easy to her, so it falls to aurora.

cumulus gives her the rundown before they go, tells her how to ease him down and how tight to tug the leash, but it doesn't actually happen until they're on the road.

he put it off, afraid it won't be the same without lus on the other end, and he's tense and self conscious when he finally kneels before her on the carpet of a hotel room. but then she coos at him (what a sweet dog you are), tightens his collar and clicks the leash into place, and she takes all the weight of his mind into her manicured hands.

he's fine. all he has to worry about is being a good puppy for his princess.
