Past:

Nothing has come easy for Angus Edison, and if you ask him nothing ever will. He was born and raised in the Peckham, one of the toughest boroughs in south-east London.  His parents were only teenagers when he was born and had separated before his first birthday. Being the product of two poverty ridden teens Angus spent most of his time with his paternal grandmother for the first few years until his mother was mandated to prove she deserved the welfare aid. Unfortunately, around this time his young mother dabbled in drugs and found herself addicted to heroin by the age of twenty. During desperate times she would solicit, and while young Angus didn’t know at the time he would put it all together when he was older.  In the end, she wouldn’t live to see him enter grade school. He walked into her bedroom one warm summer morning to find her with her eyes wide open staring blankly at the ceiling with a needle still stuck in her arm. After her death he was returned to his paternal grandmother; whom he lovingly refers to as Gigi.

Angus’s father was Robert ‘The Ox’ Edison a bare-knuckle fighter that was slowing climbing the ranks of the underground sport at the time.  His grandmother shielded him from his father’s occupation for as long as she could, but the murmurings on the playground couldn’t be ignored. One day after he came home with a bloody lip during a schoolyard fight his father took him into the backyard to show him how to throw a proper punch. The little boy was hooked from that point on. Robert began to take his son to his fights, and the little boy emanated and strived to be like his father.

 It wasn’t too long before his grandmother was called in after he beat up another child two class levels ahead of him.  If Angus thought his father was tough his grandmother was the Iron Lady.  She could knock the breath out of you with only a look. The shame he felt after his grandmother’s speech hurt worse than any punch he’d ever taken. The last thing he ever wanted was to disappoint the only person that seemed to show him any affection, and genuinely care about his well being. 

Shortly after his fourteenth birthday, his father went missing.  The borough went quiet for a bit, but within months people were going on that ‘the Ox’ who tended to overstay his welcome at the pubs had been taken down by some street thugs. The Peckham Boys were blamed which meant Robert most likely rested at the bottom of the River Peck in pieces: the gang was notorious for carrying machetes around the streets at night.

In only a year the same gang that was rumored to have killed his father came knocking at his door; hoping to innate the tough and large framed teenager. Angus would have no part of it. The last thing he wanted was any affiliation with the group.  Turning his focus to school he finally started to pull good grades and when a gym teacher introduced him wrestling he really thrived for the first time and found himself the focus on positive attention. Finishing school out he wasn’t sure what the world was going to bring him, but knew one thing for sure: he was a damn good fighter. Deciding he could support himself through college he began to bare-knuckle fight underground it was long before he realized that the sport was run by thugs and gangsters.  Angus did his time keeping his head down trying not to dig himself too deep into the sport, and in the manner of three years, he had graduated with a degree in communication.  

He tried to do the respectable thing and get a nice job at a marketing firm, but soon found himself running back to participate in fights. It was also during this time he developed his womanizing ways. It was nothing for him to ‘date’ and discard a woman on a monthly basis.  The death and abandonment of his mother left him with a general distrust of women so he found it easier to not allow himself to get too close. With that being said it’s nothing to see him with a fitness instructor one week, and the next with someone that resembles a plus-size model: simply put he doesn’t discriminate and is attracted to all shapes and sizes of the female form.  Eventually, it was his charming and womanizing ways that led him to America.  

After taking a beautiful woman to bed, the pair were interrupted by her enraged returning husband. A fight ensued between the men, and in the end, Angus walked away with a stab wound to his back, and the husband was left for dead on the floor. Angus knew the man worked for a local runner with ties to the mob. Deciding he could very well face a similar fate as his father, he made a life-altering decision in the dead of the night. Not even returning home, he stayed in the bus depot until morning, where he walked into the bank and emptied his accounts. He caught a cab to the airport and felt the warmth of the California sun by the next morning.

There was nothing out of the ordinary when it came to Angus Edison. He was born to a single mother in the tough borough of Peckham in east London. Despite being surrounded by poverty his mother dedicated every waking moment either working to keep the lights on or doting on her son. More than anything she just wanted him to get out of the borough without becoming another statistic and casualty of the streets. Angus was quite scholarly compared to his peers and spent quite a bit of time immersed in adventure novels during his youth. Doing his best to mind his mother he always received good marks throughout school and managed to stay out of trouble with the exception of an occasional fight. Angus was an easy mark for bullies due to serious mannerisms and the fact that he remained overweight for most of his childhood. 

By the age of 12, he was collecting cans and doing odd jobs trying to bring in some money. He developed an exceptional work ethic early which still serves him to this day.  Even as a child he knew he wanted to serve in the military.  Not only was it accessible to a poor kid like him, but it would also allow him to see the world. The day after graduation he enlisted and was in training by the end of the month. Angus spent the next several years climbing the ranks as he served in two tours of Afghanistan along with other deployments. Always being a good son he visited when he could and sent every spare cent home. It was during his last deployment he received word that his mother had passed from a random act of violence. 

The entire worldview of the man shifted from that point on as he became bitter. After finishing out his contract he returned back to Peckham for a brief period; which with the loss of his mother no longer felt like home. After having a brief pity party for himself he took up an invitation to move to the US and work for a contractual private military; however, he soon found himself butting heads with leadership and out of a job. Making his way through a few different states before he took a position as a Federal Fish and Game warden. Finally setting down roots he became engaged and enrolled in college night courses. The moment of happiness was only fleeting. 

It was during a poaching investigation that his life changed forever. Alongside a fellow warden, they checked on some intel about a possible settlement for people illegally moving black bears. After leaving what seemed to be an abandoned cabin they headed out on the four-mile hike through some dense forest. While his partner was off taking a leak he stumbled upon a poacher and while he was able to draw and hold off the man from accessing his gun; he was unable to see the other poacher who approached from behind and shot him in the back. By the time his partner came upon the scene the poachers were gone and Angus was left for dead. In and out of consciousness he had very little memory of what occurred other than a horrific pain in his neck as if he’d been shot again. 

Waking up in agony the next day, he found himself back in the abandoned cabin alongside the other warden. Nothing felt real, and things only became stranger as the other explained what happened. The man claimed to come from a line of shifters-werewolves, to be exact, and to save Angus, he turned him into one as well. He though the whole thing was bullocks, and he remained in denial until the very next full moon. 

Unable to cope with trying to maintain a normal life and his newfound supernatural one, he left both the job and his fiancée, eventually taking up residence in a log cabin away from everyone and smack dab in the middle of nowhere.  Angus finds peace in his solitude, and while he works odd jobs, he spends a considerable amount of time doing freelance writing, typically focusing on forestry or some aspect of it.

Angus happened to be at the club when the virus first hit. When the news reports started to roll in, he was dumbfounded as everyone else watched the complete breakdown of society as end times struck. Never religious, he blamed man for whatever curse they brought upon themselves. All things considered, the club was stocked with food and enough liquor to keep mouths wet for a considerable amount of time. Offering all his staff the ability to stay, only a couple took him up on the offer while the rest headed out, and most likely home to their loved ones.  

Closing all the circuit breakers for the club off, except the large walk-in fridge, he was able to maintain power for over a month between generators and car batteries they took from the parking lot. Heading into the third month, they ran short on resources and decided as a group to head out. They had barely made it from the city's limits when they happened upon a horde. Unfortunately, their few and turned into only two. After bugging in for so long, they had a slight disadvantage as they were getting their first taste of zombies. The pair keeps wandering with the intention of finding a safe haven as they just try to survive.
