Hi❤️
I was wondering if u could write about how you think Laswell, Rudy, Alejandro, and Valerie whould react to having a spouse who works in the funeral business (or more specifically a mortician) Thank you!! I love your stuff btw!!!
-🍒
Hello! Sure I can! Thank you for the request! In all honesty, I did not know exactly what a mortician actually does, but I tried to research it! Sorry if it isn't as accurate, I tried! And thank you for the compliment!
Alejandro, Rodolfo, Valeria and Laswell with a Mortician!S/O
Alejandro: Alejandro has a deep connection with his culture, meaning he also has a fair amount of respect for the dead. He’s not particularly religious, not Catholic and not a follower of Santa Muerte either, but he does hold certain beliefs since that’s what was ingrained into him from his parents. He has an even higher opinion of you once you tell him that you’re a mortician. You dress the dead, you embalm them, you make sure they’re well taken care of before they’re being bidden farewell to by their friends and family. That’s one of the highest honors anyone could ever achieve. He’s lost far more people than he would like to admit, but sometimes he would comfort himself knowing that you might be the one to tend to them, making sure they would be well respected and would reach the afterlife in more than just torn rags. He’s well aware you’re not the grim reaper and won’t transport the dead to the afterlife yourself. Still, he knows your job is also a rough one and that one must be talented in many fields in order to work as a mortician: You need to know how to work with finances, you likely need to have a good immune system, you need to not be squeamish around the dead, you need to have a degree, you need to agree to work during odd hours and so on. He’s well aware of all of that, but he also knows that working with the dead can take its toll on you when grieving families tell stories of their deceased ones. Alejandro will do what he can to support you, he’ll let you vent whenever you need it, be your support system in general. There’s barely any job holier than yours, so whatever it is you need, you have his full support and his full respect.
Rodolfo: In all honesty, Rodolfo would not know what exactly it is that you do. He’d have a general idea, yes, but you’d have to tell him. It’s not like you won’t ever have the opportunity to do so, though, since he’ll be more than happy to ask. How was your day today? What did you do? Anything interesting happen? He’ll listen intently and try to figure it out from there, but if he has questions he will ask them. In all honesty, he’s not the biggest fan of corpses since they’re usually a bad sign, especially on the battlefield, so he sometimes does wonder how you do it. Working with corpses every day? Touching them like it’s nothing? He can do so too, although he gets a bit queasy when he has to touch one with his bare hands. Especially one that has been dead for a while now. That’s why he has a lot of respect for you, you have a tough job but you do it well, and for that he applauds you. If you ever need some advice or just need someone to vent to, he’s more than happy to be of help. He’s really not bad at finances and it isn’t that easy to shake him anymore either, so you can tell him whatever you want. No judgment from him either. He supports you and will listen, but you might not want to go into excruciating detail about how you replace the blood with formaldehyde through the arteries. Something like that won’t leave his mind for a while, but he appreciates the honesty and another learning opportunity. He still has some ties to his culture, but not as much as Alejandro. Your job is formidable and potentially dangerous, but he won’t romanticize it. Will ask you if you’re doing well, though. Although it’s not as likely to become sick as one might think with the right equipment, he’ll always worry about you potentially catching some sickness. Would jokingly ask you whether or not you’re afraid of zombies.
Valeria: Might disguise her genuine question as a joke, but she would ask you if you also cremated people. Naturally you do, it’s part of your job. Say yes and she’d ask you how booked you are. She is serious about having you cremate some of the people she gets rid of, in all honesty. So if you ever have too much work, it’s likely because of her. Tell her to slow down and that a cremation machine can’t burn that many bodies in a day and she might listen to you, from time to time. You’ll still end up with extra work, but it won’t be as severe as before. She has a weird fascination with your job. Tell her all about it, she’ll genuinely appreciate it. You can even tell her the most disturbing things. Plus she’ll eat up the weird things as well, such as you hearing strange noises at night as you put on the makeup of a deceased woman. Will crack jokes about how it’s the dead haunting you in particular just to see your reaction. The stronger you react, the more likely she is to continue. Her favorite part of your job is the cremation, actually. Fire is nice, fire is passionate, fire leaves little trace. Isn’t above sponsoring your funeral home either, buying you a nice and powerful cremation machine to make the process go faster, gas costs and consequences be damned. While she does have a pretty good grasp of what you do, you can expect her to sometimes ask weird questions. Have you ever cremated someone alive? Do corpses stink? How long would it take for an embalmed corpse to be broken down? She doesn’t particularly worry too much about you getting sick, she knows your equipment is there to handle most of the things that might be considered dangerous, but if you ever complain about it, she’s more than happy to find more useful equipment. Not the best at listening to you vent about how rough your job is, but she tries. She’s great at finances too, so you can always go to her as well, but she doesn’t do as well with the emotional part. The people lost someone? Let them be sad for a few days, it’s got barely anything to do with you. She’s not the most empathetic towards people she doesn’t know or care about.
Laswell: She’s worked with quite a few morticians throughout her life, mainly to get a good look at a corpse and see if there are any clues left that might help her. It’s usually the job of someone who performs autopsies, I know, but sometimes you just need to do the job yourself if you want it done right. She knows fully well what you do at your job, she knows many people, after all. Although she does find it interesting that that’s the job you want to do for the rest of your life. You could be anything, yet you wish to work with the dead? It sounds a bit macabre to her, but she respects your decision. Not at all squeamish around the dead, she’s probably had to handle a few corpses herself throughout her life. Whether it was with gloves or not she’d rather not tell. Although she knows a whole lot about your job, she’ll ask you anything and everything about it either way since you seem fairly happy whenever you get to talk about it. You’re a skilled person in many regards, which she can definitely respect. If someone she knows well or likes dies, then she’ll likely refer the immediate family to you, she knows you do your job well and with lots of love. That way you can keep your job and always keep the money coming, but you’ll also never run out of anything to do anyway. If you ever find yourself in need of a good and trustworthy pastor, she can refer you to one. Laswell knows all kinds of people, plus she’s more than happy to help you out whenever you need it. She’s well aware you did your studies well to be where you are right now, so you’ve more than earned that support. But, like all the others too, she’ll also support you emotionally. Being a mortician can be draining, so she’ll listen to you whenever you need and, if it’s what you want, give you some advice. While she’s not always empathetic towards people, she can be, but most importantly, whatever helps you is good for her soul as well. She does want you to flourish in your job.

Hey. Could you rec any podcasts with sapphic couples as their mains? Or a sapphic story. And so on. I only really know about where the stars fell and Alice isn't dead.
You're off to a strong start. Here's 20, there's more out there, but I tried to pick a variety. I'm going to put a ★ next to the ones I think will fit best, but they're all good.
Arden: (Fictional "True Crime", Investigative, Comedy). On the 25th of December, 2007, heiress and young actress Julie Capsom crashed her car into a tree and fled into a nearby forest clearing, leaving a trail that seemingly vanished into thin air, and a dismembered torso in the trunk. A decade later, Bea, the first reporter on the scene, and Brenda, a detective on the case, are hosting a true crime podcast about it, and neither is remotely impressed with what the other has to say. Arden is also a retelling of various Shakespeare plays.
The Author's Anathema: (Horror) Looking for some extra cash, and with some help from her girlfriend Eleanor, college student Natalie takes a small job to narrate an audiobook for a reclusive anonymous author. The book being a horror wouldn't be such a bother, but the stories within are... Familiar. Too familar.
The Beacon: (Urban Fantasy) Bee is a perpetually anxious university student who discovers she has the ability to create fire, and decides to start a podcast to find others like herself. She quickly discovers she's not alone, but a series of bizzare animal attacks suggest superpowered freshers are far from the only strange thing on campus.
The Department of Variance of Somewhere, Ohio: (Weird Fiction, Horror, Sci-Fi) On day one of a new job at the Department of Variance, in the middle of her workplace orientation, Jasmine's new workplace goes into lockdown. Guided via walkie-talkie by Scarlet, an experienced security officer, Jasmine must make her way down 20-odd shifting floors of strange entities and experiments. Ideally without becoming one of them. As a disclaimer, this one is the only addition to this list that isn't actively romantic yet, however there are canonically sapphic characters, and I am fairly confident it's headed that way.
★ Elixir: (Urban Fantasy, Romance) Set in a fantasy world's equivalent of the american prohibition, lawmakers daughter Elsie approaches someone unexpected in search of her missing sister: Vera, an alchemist and propriator of the local now-elicit hush bar.
The Far Meridian: (Magical Realism) An agorophobic young woman wakes up to discover her lighthouse home has moved overnight. It quickly becomes clear this isn't a once-off, and she decides to use this as an opportunity to search for her missing brother, having some strange encounters along the way.
Interference: (Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Romance) Jacq is a D&D podcaster. Geneva is an orc scientist studying ancient human ruins the next world over. What happens when these women from different realities begin picking up each other's broadcasts?
Khôra Podcast: (Sci-Fi) Somewhere between adapted from and inspired by various greek myths, Khôra follows four women who deserved better (Atalanta, Echo, Medea, and Medusa) on a grand space adventure to find the golden fleece while keeping out of the reach of the olympians who own and run the galaxy.
★ Mabel: (Mystery, Supernatural, Horror, Romance). The live-in carer of a dying elderly woman attempts to contact her granddaughter, with little success. The contents of voicemails only get stranger, and what starts as a subtley creepy mystery-horror develops to poetic lesbian fae body-horror.
★ Midnight Radio: (Light Supernatural, Romance). Sybil McIntyre, host of the ever-popular 1950's nightly radio hour, begins exchanging letters with an old fan who has reluctantly returned to visit Sybil's beloved town.
Mina's Story: (Sci-Fi, Romance Elements) Still dealing with a major loss in her family, a young woman volunteers for a long-term cryonics project. The episodes are her audio logs after waking up each time, always the same place but centuries after she went to sleep. A story about grief, change, and the intersection of past and future.
Mirrors: (Sci-fi, Mystery, Supernatural). The audio journal of three women from different periods (past, present, and future) who seem to share little in common bar the strange inhuman, ghostly figures they have started seeing.
Night Life: (Supernatural, Noir) Utterly wacky one-episode story (more of a short audio movie) about an ex-vampire hunter turned private eye who finds herself dealing with the shenanigans of mafia and vampires in the wake of an upcoming mayoral election. Find it on the feed for The Lightning Bottler.
The Night Post: (Supernatural, Mystery). The conscripted couriers of Gilt City are both respected and shunned, integral to the city's function, but inexplicably tied to the supernatural. It's not something they like to talk about. When his husband goes missing on the job, Milo is called to take over. Clementine took over from her father a long time ago, yet recently someone else with her face has been delivering her own unsent letters. Val's not going to discuss how she ended up there, but she will absolutely open people's mail (filled with their own supernatural tales) to read aloud.
Palimpsest, Season 2: (Horror, Romance, Fantasy Elements). Set in the 1800s, a young woman becomes the maid to a supposed fairy noblewoman, who is being kept as one of many "denizens", living curiousities, in a large house. Each season is a different story, this is Season 2.
★ The Pasithea Powder: (Sci-Fi, Thriller?) The last major interplanetary war was full of atrocities, but none more infamous then the creation of Pasithea Powder, a memory altering drug which was used to horrible effect and landed it's entire team of creators in prison. So when decorated war hero Captain Sophie Green sees one of them wandering free, worlds away from his prison, she gets in touch with a very old, estranged friend: one Dr. Jane Gonzalez, who's behind bars for the very same reason.
Starship Q Star: (Sci-Fi, Comedy) The small crew of a tone-deaf space agency's attempt at a PR mission wake up at Mars to discover that they - and the one botanist abandoned on Mars base - are now the last surviving members of humanity. Co-captains and ex-girlfriends Aurelia and Sim must now dedicate themselves to protecting their crew and finding a new home, but they're rarely on the same page about how best to do it.
★ The Strange Case of Starship Iris: (Sci-Fi) When the shuttle carrying the crew of scientific research ship Iris explodes, Violet Liu finds herself stranded in space, the last survivor with no way out. Until her emergency broadcast is picked up by a passing ship. But the crew aren't who they seem to be, there's more going on here than anyone knows yet, and Violet must decide who she can really trust.
Unwell: (Supernatural). Lily Harper revisits her supposedly haunted childhood home to help take care of her aging mother. The house is weird, sure, but there's something far stranger haunting the town of Mount Absolm than simply ghosts.
Weaver: (Supernatural, Romance Elements). The musings of the entity within the old house about the girl she fell in love with (the only thing she can remember), and her two new coinhabitants, who do not yet know she exists.

。𖦹°‧ pairing 。𖦹°‧ - idol!yeonjun x superstar!oc x idol!jungkook
。𖦹°‧ synopsis 。𖦹°‧ - a love triangle between Hollywood’s sweetheart, Korea’s golden maknae, and Gen Z’s IT boy. Estrella is a very busy woman never had time dating with all her photoshoots, movie offers, recording sessions, dance practices, and public appearances. As she’s doing a little world tour promotions for her latest mini album ‘You & Me’, and let’s just say that stop last a little longer and it becomes a little too interesting.
。𖦹°‧ a/n 。𖦹°‧ - this is an introduction to Estrella and basically a background check of her. The boys have not enter the chat yet, enjoy ૮꒰ྀི๑•‌◡<๑ ིྀ꒱ა
Tumblr media
Estrella was born June 20, 1999 in Hawaii, but after 4 months her parents flew to Los Angeles and decided to live there. Occasionally, sometimes her and her parents would fly back to Hawaii to visit her mother’s side of the family since they originally from Mexico, but immigrated to Hawaii. There is still some family back in Mexico that just decided to stay back and take care of the house that they built long ago. While on her father’s side his dad’s side resigned in Peru where he’s from, and his mom lives in London where she’s from since they both divorced when Estrella’s father was a teenager. The trio also would fly to Peru and London so Estrella would still have a relationship with her grandparents.
Estrella wasn’t born rich her parents ran a restaurant in LA that focused on Mexican/Peruvian/Hawaiian dishes. Luckily, it gain popularity rather quickly because of all the different flavors and beautifully plated dishes plus it wasn’t that expensive so anyone could afford it. Some people even came just to see the chef (Estrella’s dad) because word on the street a new food place opened with amazing food and good looks. It wasn’t just the chef that brought the ladies over the gorgeous waitress/hostess (Estrella’s mom) brought the thirsty men in and made them spent all the big bucks on alcohol and their big dishes. Estrella always thanks her parents for the good genes she was blessed with.
As any kid that has parents that run restaurants they knew that once you get to a certain age which is still fairly young you must help around the restaurant. So at the age of 11 Estrella was taking orders which shocked some customers when they see a kid go up to their table and say, “hi welcome, what can you get you? Or do you want to hear the specials first?”
Working at the restaurant was truly a blessing to Estrella because since the restaurant was located in a busy street in LA many talent agents would come for lunch. Which is how Estrella booked her first modeling job for kids clothing even her parents booked little modeling gigs here and there, but they truly wanted to just focus on their restaurant than taking the entertainment world route. Estrella parents still supported her and they even celebrated in the restaurant, as Estrella got her first acting gig.
At the age of 14 Estrella met Megan Kim, who enter the restaurant after moving to LA from Korea. Estrella was singing while the restaurant was slow and it immediately caught Megan’s attention, “um, excuse me?” Estrella instantly stopped and hummed ‘yes’. “My name is Megan Kim and I’m currently holding auditions for a new artist in my new company I’m trying to build. Here’s the time and place for the auditions.” Megan was a bit too straightforward for Estrella likely, but she didn’t decline the paper flyer.
Her parents were obviously a bit skeptical for obvious reasons, but nevertheless her dad took her to the audition place while her mom held down the restaurant for the day. Estrella was nervous and excited, as they stepped into the small building. The room had about 10 girls with their parents the girls auditioning were all practicing their singing and dancing while their parents watched and encouraged them. “Aren’t you going to practice too?” Her dad questioned, as they took a seat. “I practiced enough already dad.” Estrella shrugged while looking at the girls. “I’m just making sure.” Her dad smiled knowing his daughter was confident.
Some girls left crying yelling, “I messed up! They aren’t going to pick me mom!” Others left with a poker face and a small amount just walked out with a small smile. None of those expressions helped Estrella to determine what’s in store for her during the audition. “Estrella Blue?” A woman finally called. “You got this mi pequeña estrella.” Her dad squeezed her into a hug with placing a kiss on the crown of her head. “Dad, not in front of the lady.” Estrella groaned, feeling embarrassed. The cute interaction made the recruiter giggle at the wholesome scene. “Ok, I’ll stop. You got this and I’ll be right here waiting for the good news.” Her dad gave one last assuringsqueeze on her hand before Estrella followed the lady.
Estrella sang a song she made with her dad called ‘Like That’ and while singing she was dancing to choreo that her and her mom help make. The song had everything Megan and her two recruiter were looking for in picking the girl they wanted. It has vocals, rap, and dance, “I think we have the one.” The female recruiter whispered towards Megan. “No doubt about it.” Megan knew she has star right in front of her.
Megan didn’t wait a second longer and brought Estrella’s dad into the room with them. She expressed how talented Estrella is and wants to sign her to her company, but Estrella would have to go through this trainee process like how they do it in Korea which is completely different on how they do it here. Megan explained her history in the music industry in Korea like how she was a trainee for many years and learned all the ins and outs of the system and how she debuted in a girl group, but soon left because of the bad treatment they were facing from their company. Her goal is to create a music company that isn’t toxic nor harmful mentality and physically to the artists along with creating music to heal the soul.
Estrella’s dad saw how happy her daughter’s face was hearing everything, so he made a deal with Megan with how many hours Estrella was allowed to train and that she wouldn’t be living in the building like how the trainees doing Korea. Megan was more than happy with the agreement and they all immediately started signing the papers.
Estrella stopped working at the restaurant since her new schedule was; waking up, eating a big breakfast made from mom, going to school, going to small building that still didn’t have a name yet, practicing vocals/rap/dance from different teachers that Megan, Sana(recruiter 1), and Daya(recruiter 2) knew. Estrella parents would take turns taking her to and from the company. “She’s working so hard.” Her mom sighed, as she watched her daughter sleep in the back seat. “I know, but this is her dream and look soon she’s going to be a superstar. Our Estrella is going to loved by everyone all over the world.” Her dad smiled at the thought of their daughter getting endless love and support from millions all over the world, including their love for their precious Estrella.
Debut date was rolling closed and closer and just four months prior the announcement of Estrella debut date, the media has been buzzing about the brand new entertainment called, Starlight Entertainment debuting an artist that went through the Kpop trainee system. With the height of BTS who enter the American music industry with their hit ‘DNA’ back in 2017 and continue to get bigger people were interested with what Starlight Entertainment had to bring with this concept of training. Starlight Entertainment did clarify that Estrella was not a Korean artist she is a Latin artist and will not be singing in Korean, at least not yet or whenever she decides to hit that route, but her style of performing is similar like singing and dancing. Along with her albums coming with photocards and different inclusions.
Kpop fans and locals were very interested how it was going to look like with a western artist. Many people started stanning the second the concept of photos were released along with little videos of trainee singing and dancing that went viral with the headline ‘Brand new artist debuting under a new founding company along meeting people’s expectations!’ Another thing that went viral was the new Starlight Entertainment building it’s still pretty small, but since it’s an all girls company that they decided to painting the small building pink, and with the little money the endorsers gave them they were able get a vintage look to the building. Which was aesthetically pleasing to people who would stop and taking photos of it and post how cute it looks.
Some pre debut fans would stop by and see if they can get a glimpse of the new artist, and when they do see Estrella they say that she’s more prettier in person, and about how kind she is already giving them fanservice. In no time Estrella debut happened on May 4, 2020 with a full album called ‘Introducing Estrella’ with the title track ‘Love Bites’. ‘Love Bites’ was a mega hit and climbed the charts, played on radios, people used the audio on TikTok while dancing to the choreo, and Estrella was asked to come on talk shows and radio shows. People fell in love with her kind and bubbly personality along with her undeniably talent, and visuals. Estrella Blue became the superstar her parents and her team always thought she was.

The Venture Bros. #44: "Perchance to Dean" | November 2, 2009 - 12:00AM | S04E03
This episode sorta drove home how much better this season is. I went into this one thinking of it as a non-highlight; sort of a middling episode of the season. Jackson Publick, the writer of the episode, says of it: “I don’t think this is anybody’s favorite”. That’s an accurate statement, probably. Hell, by some token it’s inessential; I don’t think any of the other big lore-heavy episodes of the show reference this one in any significant way. But here’s the thing: this is still a very good episode that has GREAT moments.
This one starts with a flashback, where Brock is new to the Venture compound, wearing a baja. He doesn’t speak, so Patrick Warburton doesn’t get a cool hundo for this one. The clone slugs are all babies at this point in the chronology, and Doc just spotted a deformed Dean. He flushes the dud, who, we soon find out, somehow survives and has become a full-grown young man in current-day time.
Dud Dean has been digging up dead Deans and making a nasty skin suit out of them, so he can become the real deal. This dude is all messed up. He also hallucinates a ghostly Doc Venture who tells him to be bad and murder the real Dean on account of him running out of shallow-grave Dean clones to harvest.
Meanwhile, the rift between Dean and Hank is getting worse; Doc is trying jump-start Dean’s future of super science by introducing him to the ultimate super-science muse: progressive rock. Dean takes to it and feels inspired, and immediately sets to work on coming up with a cure to reverse baldness, as he seems to be destined to lose his hair like his father.
Hank, meanwhile, is grounded for defiantly sass-pissing on his father’s bathroom floor. He's being forced to do chores while he nurses his case of sour grapes. Dermott, his hoodlum friend (strongly implied to be Brock’s illegitimate son in season three), sneaks into the compound, calling their security a “joke”. It just so happens that Doc Venture and Sgt. Hatred have set to work on beefing up their security system by placing combustible replicas of Rusty everywhere.
A little bit of sitcom-style mistaken identity with a Dean corpse (being dug up and stolen by the mutant Dean clone) leads Hank to believe that he killed his own brother while joyriding in his dad’s car. Dean thinks his science experiment somehow grew his mutant, who is now chasing him around the compound. Local police are descending on the compound after some complaints. Then, spoiler alert, mutant dean explodes while hallucinating a moment with one of the Rusty land-mines. It’s pretty wonderful and cinematic, and has a great abrupt ending.
Reggie Watts is in this one as a package delivery driver for an unspecified driver. He does a great job, and I forgot that was him until I was reminded that it was in the commentary track for the episode. Hank racistly assumes he has the shining (like Scatman Crothers in Stanley Kubrick’s motion picture of Steven King’s The Shining), and in a pretty funny reversal we find out he actually might. He calls the local sheriff sensing that something bad is going to happen there.
It sounds like in the writing process that the two main goals of this episode was to make use of a huge cache of prog rock jokes Jackson and Doc had been riffing on. Even though it’s still a fairly significant part of the episode, it was still reduced more than they thought it would be. This was also based on the idea of how much it must suck to live near the Venture compound, and have neighbors/civilians get involved.
The deformed clone plot-line is probably not terribly popular with fans. It IS fairly hard to believe that a clone slug could, as a baby, survive in the walls or whatever into adulthood. If The Venture Bros. has anything close to having a "Principal and the Pauper" episode, it’s probably this; in that the events of it don’t really get referred to much, if at all. Deformed Dean's attic hideout does become Goth Dean's new bedroom in later seasons, but I'd say that's less about poetic rhyming and more like an Easter egg. I say this one's still better than a lot of season three episodes, and there’s a lot of fun to be had if you want it. Hey, guys? Who doesn’t like to have some fun? :)
MAIL BAG:
Hey man, season 3 of Jellystone, a cartoon on Max with Hanna-Barbera characters, came out last week and ep 14 features Space Ghost voiced by George Lowe and Brak voiced by Andy Merrill. Zorak and Moltar are featured too, but new voices. It’s your duty to tell the world and thank you for your service!
You know something? These clips popped up on YouTube and--I guess you could pretentiously call this "the YouTube effect" if you want--I assumed that they were old and I just never saw them until now.
I liked the clips I saw just fine, and I respect and support the Jellystone show without ever actually on-purpose watching it. I guess I don't mind them recasting Zorak and Moltar in this context, but I'd be disappointed if they tried to revive Coast to Coast with the new actors. Space Ghost Coast to Coast should just stay dead, at least in an audio/visual form. That is my take and it is precious and a gift to the entire world.

You said if anyone has any library related questions to drop it in your inbox
So what qualifications do you need to be a
Libraren ?
Hi ! Thanks for the ask, I'm glad you came to me and I'll do my best to provide a useful answer.
More than qualifications, I'd say it mostly depends on skills. I'm not sure how it works in other countries, but in France where I am, librarian is a fairly popular "career change" job. Many librarians now have worked in other professions before, which means that we can have many different life experiences and areas of knowledge (it's what makes it fun !).
If I had to reduce "librarian" to core skills, it would look like this :
Communication : Communication skills, the ability to adapt one's speech to one's audience, capacity for argumentation and explanation and capacity for synthesis... are essentials. Librarian is a job where you are in contact with people most of the time, whether patrons with different ages, backgrounds, needs and ability to communicate (and as in any "customer service job" can be very frustrating/impolite at times), colleagues with whom you'll have to exchange on a daily basis, management to respond to... Librarian is a very social/networking/connected profession. Also, it is possible that you will one day find yourself in a management position. Here, depending on the size of the library you're in, even a "low grade" librarian can find themselves at the head of a group of volunteers... and therefore manager !
Creativity / Adaptability : For a library to live, it must be brought to life and this involves cultural events (art exhibitions, conversation workshops, reading groups...), highlighting specific/thematic book selections or others activities to carry out... You have to be creative about what you do and how you do it, because you have to adapt to the means available as well as to the audience you have. There is no point in doing a video game animation if half of the patrons are seniors who mainly come to read the daily newspaper ! Also, the library "world" is a world in constant change, especially with the rise of new technologies and librarians are more than interested in trying new things to meet the needs of their patrons.
Organization : People often underestimate the amount of work that goes into being a librarian. Reception of the public (the front) is only the visible part of the iceberg because all the office work (the back) is in fact what is most demanding ! Managing collections involves knowing what you have, where it is, how many copies, what is borrowed, what is not borrowed, why, what is coming out as new, what is nominated for awards, what is popular at the moment, what is controversial at the moment... And once you know that ? Well, what is your budget, how is it distributed inside the library itself or within the city's library network, what is a priority, what can be postponed until later, who do you get your supplies from, how many orders, how many documents do you order, how many librarians are available. And then comes what we call "equipment", which is a branch in its own right between physical and digital : protecting the book, putting the rating label for storage, putting barcode/chip and activating them, referencing the book in the catalog and finally put it in the correct status to allow it to be borrowed. Depending on your status, you may find yourself accomplishing/managing a whole bunch of tasks, with a lot of paperwork/codes/vocabulary/specifics so being organized (at least at this level) is necessary unless you want to drown in invoices and coding errors real fast.
For everything related to qualifications as in "studies" to do in order to become a librarian, I could do a whole post about my own formation and how I ended up where I am, but I don't think that's what you are after.
In terms of studies to become a librarian, we actually have a branch of studies dedicated named "library and information science/study". In France, it's something you can access starting from undergraduate cycle (bachelor or specific post high-school courses), but I believe in other part of the world, it's mostly graduate studies, master degree to straight up PhD !
In these training courses, you will be taught everything related to how to manage a collection, information science and literacy + information systems and technology, everything related to cataloging documents and libraries' specific softwares that you'll need to use, classification and preservation of the documents, general staff management and customer service skills and a lot of new technologies related stuff, like database management.
For further information, don't hesitate to drop other asks with more specific questions or to go check the links below, as they offer some great resources !

Spelled (Carlos de Vil x Sanderson Daughter)- Ch. 5: Royal Announcement
Tumblr media
It’s been a few months since I first came to Auradon, and I must say I’ve managed to settle in fairly well. My ‘initiation’ that Chad had mentioned turned out to be me being bombarded by silly string in the middle of the night by the fencing team. I swear if it weren’t for Binx I would have jinxed them into croaking like frogs.
My magic classes include potion-making, antidotes and anti-don’ts, hexes, jinxes and beyond, and Goodness 201 (advanced goodness class). When I asked why I had to take a goodness class Fairy Godmother said it was “to prepare for distributing good deeds with our magic.” It’s just a bunch of please and thank-you's mixed in with helping the poor and needy, and in all honesty it’s the most boring class I’ve ever gone through. Fiona, daughter of Fauna (as in Flora, Fauna, and Merriweather) became my unapproved tutor. She’s constantly reminding me of what I’m doing wrong- and I’ve come close at least 5 times of cursing her perfume to smell like a skunk.
I also got to meet other, more friendlier students, such as Tiffany and Doug. Tiffany, daughter of Tiana and Naveen, is the best cook I’ve ever had the pleasure of taste-testing for! She definitely inherited her mother’s talent for cooking, and her dad’s talent of dancing. Every time I visit the kitchen she’s waltzing around whipping up some new recipe, and is always looking for test subjects.
Doug is just as good a friend. He’s my study partner, and basically knows every textbook cover-to-cover. Unlike Ben, Doug supports my ingenious prank ideas and sometimes comes up with his own ideas- such as letting a squirrel loose in Audrey's dorm. After ten minutes of her banshee scream I let Binx and Twilight chase the poor creature out. Audrey then appeared to see me as an important ally in regards to pest control and has become somewhat less bitchy ever since.
Right now we’re being taught about illumination vs flame spells. Hopefully I won’t set anything on fire this time!
“Now, instead of saying ‘illumincerate,’ I want you to recite: lumicious!” Fairy Godmother announces with a very enthusiastic grin.
“Lumicious,” we all chant in unison. Sure enough, a tainted pink light appears in the palm of my hand- and it’s not fire!
My success causes me to start clapping and cheering (something surely from my Mom’s side), leading to the others to look at me with confused stares. I try to calm down and go back to being quiet and discreet.
“Magica, Prince Ben has requested your presence,” I hear Jane say from behind me.
She appears to be nervous around the other magical students, so I quickly follow her out to provide some comfort.
“Don’t worry about them- their bark is far worse than their bite. You just need to know how to navigate a conversation with them without spelling them to sleep.”
Jane frowns. “Why would I do that?”
I snicker. “So you don’t have to talk to them.”
She gets the joke and gives a carefree laugh. “I wish I was as good as being popular as you!”
W-What?
My smile twitches. “What do you mean?”
“Oh, come on! You’re, like, one of the most adored kids in the school, Magica! Everyone likes you. You’re so nice and helpful, talented…”
I see her face drop and I put a hand on her shoulder. “Hey, hey. Jane, you’ve got something I will never, ever have. I can’t exactly say what, but just know that you are very fortunate in the family department. I don’t want to be ‘cool’ or ‘popular.’ I never asked for that, and I don’t want it. So if you’re cool with me hanging out with you and hiding from all the snobby stuck-up princesses,” I give her a quick, tight hug. “Then I’d really appreciate it.”
Thankfully, my input seems to lift Jane’s spirits. “So, how’s it been being the Royal Advisor?”
I tilt my head. “You know, it’s kinda just a job that means saying ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to Ben’s crazy new ideas. Did you know last week he asked if we should try exploring the Trident Seas? I told him we should focus more on international matters before worrying about diplomatic expeditions. Seriously, Ben says he’s grown ‘more mature’ and ‘wise,’ but at times he’s still the scatterbrained boy I grew up with. A truly good heart, but not so much in the think-before-doing department.”
We get to Ben’s room and Jane leaves me to deal with the new appointment with the soon-to-be king. Inside, Ben is trying to stand still on a pedestal while the royal tailor measures him, although he’s much too fidgety to get any proper work done.
“Greetings, my liege! How might I serve thou?” I announce dramatically with a curtsey.
Ben rolls his eyes and gives an annoyed grunt. “Enough with the fancy talk, Sparks. I don’t have the patience.”
“Note taken. So, what service do you require from me today?”
“I’ve… kinda got a new proclamation. A royal announcement, if you will.” Ben points a finger.
I give the tailor a look of apology. “And… this couldn’t wait until you’re not as… occupied?”
“Ugh,” Ben groans as the tailor gestures again for him to stand still. “Another fitting, yeah. I can’t wait- it’s too important!”
“What’s too important?”
Just then, King Beast and Queen Belle themselves enter. I must admit, I’m surprised they’ve grown to like me in the past few months. One might say they’ve all but adopted me as part of the family.
King Beast shakes his head, smiling. “How is it possible that you’re going to be crowned king next month? You’re just a baby!”
“He’s going to be sixteen!” Queen Belle swats his arm.
While they do small bickering back and forth I take a moment to get out some paper and a fountain pen to write down any notes Ben has for me.
“I’ve chosen my first official proclamation.” Ben looks at me for support, and I give a warm smile. “”I’ve decided that the children on the Isle of the Lost be given a chance to live here in Auradon.”
Wait- what?
Did I hear that right? Ben’s requesting that more villain kids come to Auradon Prep? Not that I’m opposed, it’s just… I’m opposed! If supposedly ‘good’ kids like Audrey and Willow can be bratty jerks then I don’t even want to know what evil-rooted villain kids are like!
Ben’s parents seem to share my feelings, because they’re already arguing.
“Every time I look out there I feel like they’ve been abandoned!”
“The children of our sworn enemies, living among us?” Ben’s dad questions with steep doubt. “Magica is an exception, but how can you wish that kind of evil upon our kingdom?”
I’m… an exception? Um, thanks, I guess? But I must admit a part of me does feel guilty that I’ve been able to build a stable, ‘good’ life in Auradon while there must be other kids on the Isle that wish for the same thing.
“Everyone deserves redemption,” I add to help back Ben up.
Ben gives me a bright smile. “Exactly! Just look at how Magica’s come to terms with being good! She’s proven that a descendant from a wicked witch can choose to be good and helpful!”
This sends Ben’s parents looking at each other with nervous, anxious glances.
“Have you decided on which kids to invite first, or is it a free-for-all?” I ask.
“I’m getting to that,” Ben points to me. “Cruella de Vil, Jafar, the Evil Queen, and… Maleficent.”
Queen Belle gasps and King Ben’s mouth drops. “She is the most evil villain in the land, Ben!”
Ooh, Maleficent. From what I’ve heard, even my Aunt Winnie was afraid to tangle with the infamous dragon queen. Although not as big of a temper, Maleficent’s powers far surpass my family’s coven. Not that I’m afraid of her or her daughter, but I am curious as to how much Ben has thought this selection through. Cruella? Alright. Jafar? Why not? Evil Queen? A bit egotistic of herself but not everyone’s perfect. But Maleficent? One could say inviting any kin of hers is a recipe for disaster. I know he just wants to make his parents proud, but to what extent? In a way, he’s using these kids to prop up his image to make him seem more inclusive.
“We could let them stay for a semester and see if they can learn to fit in with our society?” I pitch. “I’d personally see to any magical mishaps.”
Ben gives me a thank-you thumbs up, while his parents are still stewing over the new idea.
“I suppose it would be a fresh perspective to invite other kids to the school…” Queen Belle thinks out loud.
King Beast still seems unconvinced, but says no rebuttal. “Very well. But remember, son, they’re your responsibility.”
I scrunch my nose. These are people we’re talking about, not dogs. Why are we acting as if they can’t think for themselves?”
“Well done,” Queen Belle whispers to Ben before she turns to leave with her husband.
Ben gives a surprised smile, but still seems unsure.
I walk up and pat his shoulder. “Don’t worry, you’ll make them proud. I know it. But I do have one condition for this new proclamation.”
Ben goes back to the impatient tailor. “What’s that, Sparks?”
I hold my head confidently. “Keep the charade that I’m an orphan. Don’t tell the new students I’m a VK. If they do plan on double-crossing us then I don’t want them to see me as an edge.”
Ben waves it off. “They won’t, Sparks. We’re offering them a second chance-”
“Yes, but even I have my doubts. Call it intuition, call it a foreshadowing spell, but I don’t trust anyone but my father and you. Don’t make me become torn between sides, Ben. I can’t promise I’ll be able to control my powers when extreme conflict breaks out.”
“Jeez, relax Sparks! You’re talking all mystic-magic like. It’s kinda creepy!”
I scoff. “Do not insult me by pretending to know anything about being cursed with this, Ben. You’re already the poster child for the good guys, at least give me leverage to be seen next to you as an advisor, and as a friend.”
“Aw, c’mere Sparks.” Ben wraps me up in a hug. “Don’t worry too much. You’re the best Advisor I could ever ask for, and you’re fitting right in!”
I smile. “Yeah, I guess I am.”
And maybe I can help these new VKs fit in too...

Weird ass dream. The kind that makes you nostalgic. I live in a small town, my high school was more closeknit than others — that is to say almost all of those kids were evil but i digress, everyone knew each other.
My dream initially was that I missed the busses after school. I called my mom and she was at work, so she could not pick me up until 6:00. Which meant I had to kill time until then. It gave me the opportunity to realize how lively my high school was after hours — kids congregating on the soccer fields, football field, track, parking lot, it was as if its own little fair. So strange to see people you know doing their little things. In my dream I saw the faces of people who I haven’t seen in a long time, nigh forgot about, people who I won’t see ever again. And the faces of people who look like the type of people to live in my town.
Most were playing sports; I discovered a law school campus that was apparently on the property of my school that I hadn’t known about; I met one of my friends and hung out with him for a bit, found a dude on Tinder that looked exactly like him and with the same name but was like visibly 22 and I was like lmaooo dude look at this.
There is an event where the high school band comes in, followed by the graduates of my class, they share what they’re majoring in in college, and a quarter of mean girls were studying graphic design and they hated it and I laughed at them. It was particularly nostalgic
There is a silly little rave party thrown a guy I knew, who was fairly popular. It’s in those net tents you see used for baseball practice. I go there and dance a little with my childhood friend who dated him in middle school.
I stumble across a boy I had little feelings for for years — from elementary school to senior year — he was standing in between chain link fences, in security guard armor but it was like football stuff, so I guessed that was his job here. He was enthusiastic to see me, which was much to my surprise since we hardly talked at all (in senior year he started interacting with me every so often, much to my surprise.)
The dream changes here. I am this sewer siren queen hunted by my high school, living several grotesque layers in the deepsea underground, and he is the one who is supposed to be hunting me the hardest. Except every action he makes is deliberately to divert my pursuers away from me in order to protect me. We are lovers in that way, the brief moments where he sees me to “kill” me, but rather it is a fond reunion where we look at each other with mischevious devotion and adoration and then he must leave, to not draw too much attention to me and our affiliation. Every hour and decision of his life is dedicated to making sure I stay alive. He stands proud over a toilet in the school bathroom with a deep, deep canal drilled into it, what the students call a “sewer portal”, knowing I used it to escape, announcing to his equals “she is not in this one; try another one.”
He climbs through my canals smiling, there are grotesque and strange strata underneath our school, pink wet stone, sandstone, marbled jade and stone, and the structure of the tunnel he recognizes as my digging, impressed that I managed to stomach such odd layers of soil
This story of a favorite siren and its best hunter is a reoccuring theme for the rest of the dream.
There are other notable moments, where my art teacher says I have an opportunity to spread my art, to become a genuine admired artist, because people have already expressed interest in my work for her class. I make sketches; one of them a pile of moldy rotten oranges, in which a rabid squirrel or fox is eating them out of wild desperation, and a healthy fox is walking in the foreground, observing its parallel
Another where I’m in walmart with a friend, at the side of another boy; saying “I’m like hahahaha I’m L from deathnote” for some reason, just to mess with him. He’s like yeah whatever, unamused, I show him a pretty collar necklace I found, knowing the implications, and he’s like perhaps, and he tightens it on my neck for me
Then I dig another hole and leave because I am a sewer siren now.
Flickers of standing in a deep sea realm, underground, occasionally visited by a certain playful divercaver… I pick what I want the fish version of my pets to look like, laugh at the way my cat looks when she floats down and turn to tell my mother only for her to yell at me because she’s stressed out and busy. Rain World shelter on our football bleachers, he swims to me to find Minecraft mods, but I am looking from his eyes this time, I notice him and pick my way over to him, and we enjoy our presence together eagerly, while he sips from the glass of this mod that implements strawberry juice in Minecraft— and it tastes wonderful.
Then he hides me in the shelter because there are centipedes — it is particularly deeper, with water, to compensate for me there, and comes along to be around me for the night

Serious questions @ rugby community: if you had the chance to meet one of your rugby hero in a one to one. What would be the questions you would have for him or her ? ( as many as you wish).
I begin and I will put mine under the cut, reblog with your player + questions or put it under this post ☆
Seriously I didn't instantly thought about JvP what a surprise but I would have more questions for him than for Toby or George even if they are all 3 part of the all spectrum. Toby retired RP - George currently RP but "on disgrace // Eddie Jones" - Jack Newbie RP "not yet his time" . . . But from the all 3 I think he would be the more at ease and natural to answer questions. Not trained that much to interviews speech so his answers would be more genuine and I have more questions about current rugby era.
How do you manage your private life and your rugby life, medias are currently more than ever an heavy burden for young talented players : a chance to be recognised but also the light can shine too bright and be your demise.
The media are now on the lookout for the slightest scoop and they are the ones who make and break careers with barometres of popularity that are, to say the least, random. They capitalize on young prodigies to make them stars but this only increase the pressure on the shoulders of young recruits. Where do you stand on all this?
Speaking of medias, aren't you afraid of the lack of privacy while becoming a celeb athlete. Everyone has access to a smartphone and can catch you in a bad situation off the pitch, furthermore you have an audience. Do you feel responsable of the content you are posting on social media and the amount of people it can reach. Is it a burden or a chance to have such a platform that make you express more on the causes that you care about ? Does this new celebrity concern you or does it make you more self conscious and maybe restrain yourself of some things in life ?
What has been the actual cost of a premiership rugby career on such a young body? Even if you come from the academy it must obviously come with a price to push so much harder at the training than before. How high is the risk of injuries at the minute? How much did you change your food regime ? Is it difficult to follow it on a daily basic?
How much do you miss your family while playing in Leicester. What's the best thing about the club?
How difficult is it to be in a position where you have on one hand to respect your mentor and friend who is almost family and loved by fans even at international level.... And on the other hand the wish and desires to expand your career, to play more minutes than expected. Fairly and deserved game time. How do you manage that ?
Captaincy suits you but what makes you a good captain in your own eyes ?
Except from rugby and farm work what would you do? Those face expressions and eyebrows game need to be in an actor job in my oppinion
What are the projects with the amount of money ? Some players open their coffee shop some pay for their school loans what about you? House? More dogs to feed ?
Your family situation was explained on a podcast about farm job by your dad but can you actually speak dutch or even a little ?? Or any other languages for that matter.
How many dogs do you have !?
What is the must see in Norfolk except your family barn ?
For how long have you been playing bass ?
Best nicknames other than jvp/judas and nausevliet?
FMK : ollie chessum / dan kelly / freddie steward
The best things and worst things about being a scrum half?
You still like saracens after so many years at Leicester ?

I was curious what constitutes a traditional abo fic to you? I am fairly new to the whole concept and I’ve only ever read your fics on it (which are really good btw!!)
Hiya! Thanks so much for reading! I'm somewhat flattered to have been your introduction!
If you decide to read a lot of a/b/o it will become pretty clear what the popular or main interpretation is, though I don't often read it enough these days to say if it is changed, but this is what I've seen time and time again. My answer is a little bit lengthy so I'll put it under a read more.
Disclaimer that talking about things I don't particularly like doesn't mean other people aren't allowed to like them! If you enjoy these things, more power to you
Typically I would say a "tradition" setting would have:
Not great treatment of omegas in society (Omegas are sometimes referred to as "second-class citizens")
In these scenarios omegas will often hide that they are omegas for fear of losing the respect of their peers or lose their job/position
Alphas are naturally stronger, people treat them with more respect. Everyone wants to be an alpha, nobody wants to be an omega. Betas are useless LOL
Omegas must control their scent and heats via pills or injections, alphas aren't typically made to do anything. Omegas are wholly responsible, and a classic scenario is they run out of pills unexpectedly, causing their heat to happen and they get together with the main love interest this way
I am nooot hugely fond of the classic setup. I would like to note that I'm not saying this is wrong to enjoy! And I've definitely played with dubconish scenario myself! But there is a whole world to play with! Where are the alphas getting injections, why aren't they taking any pills!?! Give them scent blockers! Make them cover up their scents!
I do like the lack of control implied with heat or rut! I think it is very sexy! That said, I personally like to interpret it in ways that can still be (mostly) consensual. And again, there are plenty of people who like the dubcon, they like the fucky noncon and dark scenarios - more power to them.
I've just read so much a/b/o that the classic dubcon sexism 2.0 scenario doesn't interest me anymore unless it's done in an extreme way that is so far removed from real society it hits right, or it’s inversed.

Celebrating Our Meeting
Tumblr media
raws from @/pararoidhakase on twitter!
A Small, Stray Guest
1
Arthur: (The meeting at the castle ran long. I’ll have to look over the documents before the day ends…)
Arthur: ….Hm?
Mitile: Where did they go…?
Arthur: Who are you looking for, Mitile?
Mitile: Ah, Prince Arthur! Welcome back.
Mitile: I saw a rabbit with a red tail around here earlier.
I thought they might be injured, so I wanted to patch them up, but I lost sight of them…
Arthur: That is troublesome… I’ll help you look.
Mitile: Y-you will?
Arthur: Of course. To be honest, I’m fairly good at chasing rabbits.
Mitile: But aren’t you tired from just getting back from the castle?
Arthur: Don’t worry. I was just looking for a change of pace.
Mitile: Prince Arthur… Thank you so much!
Arthur: It’s my pleasure.
Now, are there any particular things that stood out to you about this rabbit?
Mitile: Yes. The ears were so long they hit the ground, and they were white as snow.
Arthur: Long ears and white fur….
Mitile: Ah..!
Rabbit: (Wheek)…?
Mitile: Prince Arthur, look! It headed towards the forest…!
Arthur: Alright, let’s go!
2
Arthur: Here we are. Mitile, over here.
Mitile: They’re really enjoying that grass, so we could probably catch them now. If I get a little closer on my broom…
Arthur: …Wait, let me try something first.
Mitile: What do you want to try? That’s a… grass whistle?
Arthur: Yes. Then…
(Fweee)
Mitile: …Ah, the rabbit came over!
Arthur: I’ve read in a field guide that this kind of rabbit is attracted to music.
I’ll blow the whistle, so I’ll leave the rabbit to you, Mitile.
If you move slowly and make sure not to touch the injured tail, you should be able to catch them.
Mitile: A-alright!
…Yes, I caught it!
Arthur: Good job, Mitile!
Mitile: Ehehe…
There, there. There’s no need to be scared anymore. I’ll heal your injury now.
Wait, its tail… Now that I look at it, the red seems to be the color of their fur.
Arthur: I see. I thought that might be the case.
This rabbit is unique in that only its tail is red. I’m glad it wasn’t hurt.
Mitile: Yes!
Arthur: This rabbit was inside the manor, right? So someone must have brought it in.
Mitile: That’s what I thought! Let’s bring it back and ask the others about it.
Mitile: Should we sing a song as we go to calm its nerves?
Arthur: That sounds fun. How about we sing your favorite song, Mitile?
Predicting the Ending
Akira: When you were younger, you certainly played with rabbits a lot.
Rabbits such popular animals that they’ve become the symbol of a holiday called Easter in my world.
Arthur: I’ve heard about that from the previous Sage. If I were a child, I’d definitely be excited for such a day.
Akira: (Speaking of rabbits, I wonder what Arthur would think of the story “The Tortoise and the Hare”?)
This is a bit out of nowhere, but if there were a race between a turtle and a rabbit, which do you think would win?
Arthur: A race?
…Would that not depend on what kinds they are?
Akira: What kind?
Arthur: Yes. There are some rabbits that run many times faster than humans, and there are turtles that are as big as mountains. Each of their steps is the width of a river.
So I think depending on what kind of rabbit or turtle, the result would be different.
Though I’m embarrassed to say all of this is knowledge from reference books… I hope that I answered your question.
Akira: You did! I learned a lot!
Akira: To tell the truth, that question was related to a fable from my world.
It’s a story where the tortoise’s careful effort wins the race. I’d only seen slow tortoises, so it was a bit strange to me.
Arthur: I see. So the result depends not only on what type, but on one’s own effort.
Arthur: I’d like to see that together with you one day.
