sick of the trope where theres a flashback and we see the characters as kids and theyre just mini copies of who they are in the present. Basically nobody is the same as how they were as a kid and it would be neater to show characters as different back in their childhoods (you know, like the emo phase trope but with everything and anything else as well) also this extends to showing them as an entirely different gender as a kid we need to see trans childhoods

Just a cute moth character I wanted to make a character sheet for Artfight. Link to my artfight account.

On the surface she likes to appear cool, confident and suave, but is actually an anxious and soft mess. Very touch starved. Loves cute stuff like small animals and plushies but tries to hide it badly.

Unlike moths, they have a mouth and tongue that they use for eating and flirting. Loves sweets. 

You can draw them in any outfits but prefers to dress pretty masc. 

The light fur parts of her are supposed to look like they have darker roots or a darker undercoat, but you can also color them solid light. 

(Expressions work kind of like spiderman's mask I noticed. )

If you decide to read a lot of a/b/o it will become pretty clear what the popular or main interpretation is, though I don't often read it enough these days to say if it is changed, but this is what I've seen time and time again. My answer is a little bit lengthy so I'll put it under a read more.

Disclaimer that talking about things I don't particularly like doesn't mean other people aren't allowed to like them! If you enjoy these things, more power to you

Typically I would say a "tradition" setting would have:

Not great treatment of omegas in society (Omegas are sometimes referred to as "second-class citizens")

In these scenarios omegas will often hide that they are omegas for fear of losing the respect of their peers or lose their job/position

Alphas are naturally stronger, people treat them with more respect. Everyone wants to be an alpha, nobody wants to be an omega. Betas are useless LOL

Omegas must control their scent and heats via pills or injections, alphas aren't typically made to do anything. Omegas are wholly responsible, and a classic scenario is they run out of pills unexpectedly, causing their heat to happen and they get together with the main love interest this way

I am nooot hugely fond of the classic setup. I would like to note that I'm not saying this is wrong to enjoy! And I've definitely played with dubconish scenario myself! But there is a whole world to play with! Where are the alphas getting injections, why aren't they taking any pills!?! Give them scent blockers! Make them cover up their scents!

I do like the lack of control implied with heat or rut! I think it is very sexy! That said, I personally like to interpret it in ways that can still be (mostly) consensual. And again, there are plenty of people who like the dubcon, they like the fucky noncon and dark scenarios - more power to them.

I've just read so much a/b/o that the classic dubcon sexism 2.0 scenario doesn't interest me anymore unless it's done in an extreme way that is so far removed from real society it hits right, or it’s inversed.

fun discovery from today's internet rabbit hole:

the first lesbian magazine published in the US, Vice Versa (1947-48), was entirely hand-typed by one Edythe Eyde (better known by her pen name Lisa Ben - yes, that IS an anagram for lesbian). she worked as a secretary with a ton of spare time on her hands, and her boss would tell her he didn't care what she was doing so long as she "looked busy"... so she decided to use her free time to type out copies of a home-made periodical for lesbians, writing most of the content - editorials, book/film reviews, poetry, short stories, and more - herself!

overall, the magazine ran for 9 issues, 16 hand-typed copies of which lisa would mail to friends (well, until one of them advised her she could be arrested for sending "obscene" materials) and distribute at lesbian bars :)

Jazz and Johnny got...way more involved that Danny will ever want to know.

And Jazz, very liminal, actually fell pregnant.

She opted to leave for a bit, have the baby, and adopt it out. It was half ghost and half very liminal human, she had no idea what the GIW would do to it.

So she left on an "extended study trip", gave birth, gave it over to the adoption agency, warned them there was a high chance the kid would be a meta, and went about recovering.

Unbeknownst to her, that baby was immediately stolen by one Sheila Haywood for the purposes of tax fraud.

From there, the baby was given to Willis Todd, after Sheila lied and said that he was the father.

From there, the baby was put under the care of Catharine Todd, who died far too young.

From there, the kid tried to steal Batman's tires so he wouldn't starve.

Fast forward, and Jason Todd, now an adult, decides to pay a visit to the new head Psychologist of Arkham to vet the lady.

He ends up staring into a set of eyes that mirror his own, and when he runs the DNA from the hair he stole off of her, it comes back positive that yeah.

That's his mom.
