Spn Opinions That’ll Have Me Burned at the Stake Pt. 2: Electric Boogaloo
I’m back and bitchier than ever. For reference, here’s part 1.
• Season 5 wasn’t that great.
• D*stiel isn’t real, it’s a sucky ship, and that confession scene was just the writers pandering to the rabid deancas fans cause they knew they were the only ones still watching the show lol. And they left it ambiguous enough that they could still say it was meant platonically if they needed to.
• I hate how they watered down both angels and demons post-season 5ish.
• I liked Ruby 1.0 better than Ruby 2.0.
• I hate Honey!Cas. They just did that cause they didn’t know where to take his story from there, needed him out of the way, and thought it would be funny. It was insulting.
• Jack should’ve been played by an actual child so everyone’s abuse of him would resonate with the audience for what it was (casual fans are brain dead and need to be spoon fed).
• Victor Henrikson deserved more time on the show.
• I said it in the last post, but Alex is way more interesting than Claire and should’ve been given the lead role in the wayward sisters storyline instead.
• Dean is canonically straight and for Christ sake if you guys wanted bi rep, there’s about a thousand other characters that are strongly coded or implied to be bisexual (including Sam!) but y’all didn’t focus on them because it wasn’t actually about representation, it was about making it more plausible for your dumb fetishised gay ship to actually happen (spoiler: it didn’t).
• Season 3 and Season 6 were some of the best ones, you guys just don’t have any taste.
• Claire is not Castiel’s daughter and saying she is erases Jimmy and insults her, and even Cas himself acknowledged that on the show.
• Castiel is canonically NOT gay and Misha constantly saying he is is annoying and airheaded. He’s been attracted to women IN THE SHOW and he’s not even really male, so calling him a Gay Man is reductive and just plain wrong. Also, it’s veeery sus that- given how bi/pan folks are even more underrepresented than gay people- that one of the rare times where the bi/pan label actually fits a character BETTER in CANON……. the allies and monosexuals adamantly reject it. Hm.
• “Curing” vampires or werewolves or demons shouldn’t have been a thing.
• The Winchesters cause most of the bad shit that happens and then they just force supernatural beings to fix it for them- tell me again how they’re Super Special Heroes.
• It shouldn’t be possible to make angels human by removing their grace, because (unlike demons, werewolves, etc) they were never human to start with. If you drained me of all my blood, I wouldn’t magically transform into another species, I’d fucking die.
• Making Billie go crazy was dumb.
• Rowena was one of the most interesting and charismatic characters on the whole show- they just didn’t know what to do with her character.
• The archangels, Lilith, and Azazel should’ve been the biggest threats on the show. No other knights of hell, no god and his sister, no Cain, nothing like that. Having every villain just get progressively more overpowered made the show unbelievable and repetitive and annoying.
• The kernel sanders king of hell guy was hot.
• Dean is misogynistic as HELL, homophobic, likes racist porn, is a narcissist, pervs on teen girls, & thinks all non-human people should be exterminated… and that is all CANON.
• Most of John Winchester’s abuse is fanon.
• Fans portraying Cas as a smol bby who colours in colouring books and has a bee plushie is so fucking annoying.
• Instead of having so many gigantic cosmic storylines with god and his sister and alternate dimensions and even the angel and demon tablets, they should’ve just scrapped those and made the stein family and the bmol and the alpha vampire storylines way bigger than they were. Less cosmic stuff, more earth-based stuff.
• They ruined Lucifer’s character post-season 5. Before that, he was more sympathetic and reasonable than Michael. After, he was a spoiled child hurting people for fun.
• Everything from season 7 on is garbage. All of it. There’s bits of goodness here and there but overall seasons 7-15 are trash.
• How the fuck are there actual people who are deangirls and hate Sam?? The space where your brain should be is empty, I swear to god.
• If there was gonna be any lgbt rep in the Wayward Sisters group, it should’ve been Jody and Donna instead of Claire and Kaia. Those two were boring as hell and had zero chemistry or build-up, but Jody/Donna had plenty of chemistry and was very believable.
• Meg has the best and most realistic redemption arc of anyone on the show.
• Chuck was not likeable or charismatic enough to carry off as big of a villain arc as they gave him. Also that whole thing was stupid and WAY too Out There.
• All the angels should’ve been aroace. All the demons should’ve been pan.
• I stanned Cole so hard up until he changed his mind about hating Dean. That was disappointing.
• Sam went through the same shitty childhood Dean did (plus Bonus Abuse on top of it) and he didn’t turn out Like That.
• I cannot think of a single person that was asking for a spin-off about the Winchester family, like that has to be the most boring thing.

So I was racking my brain trying to think about queer representation in kids shows/movies I loved growing up and legitimately all I could come up with was Lyra Heartstrings & BonBon from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and Miss Spink & Miss Forcible from Coraline.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
*There are other queer characters in MLP:FiM, BUT LyraBon are huge since the fandom shipped them for years before they were canon. Some others include Applejack & Rainbow Dash, Scootaloo's aunts, Sunset Shimmer (bi), King Sombra (bi), and Big Mac (bi, polyamorous/enjoys drag on screen).
And like I love them! Really, I do! But MAN was it sad to realize just how little queer rep I remember growing up with and seeing on screen. Lyra & BonBon were the first blatant in-your-face undeniable queer rep of ANY kind I saw on screen, in fact, and their romance wasn't blatantly established until 5 years into the show. I'm so incredibly glad that kid's media is showing more queer rep these days and in more diverse ways (not shading either of the above examples, it's just that a wide variety of queer rep is important!). I still adore the queer characters I did get to see on screen, and I love seeing new media that boldly and proudly represents queerness for kid's media nowadays (I'm still obsessed with Nimona, y'all better go watch that movie it's a miracle it even got made). I just look back and think about how much easier life could have been if I were exposed to my kind of queerness as a kid; I haven't seen a queer transmasc character in a kid's show until very very recently. I'm glad kiddos like me will see those characters and feel less confusion or fear about themselves because of it. But I'm sad to have had to go through it.
Thank you, my little lesbian ponies and silly old circus lesbians, for introducing me to a world I didn't yet know I was a part of. It did make things easier in a way.

nah but helluva boss is unironically the mspec rep i've dreamed of for years. a big anxiety around bi/pan characters is worries that if they end up in a same gender relationship they'll be assumed monosexual gay, and in a different gender relationship they'll look 'straight', or that their same gender attraction didn't count/was fetishizing or queerbaity (which is SO wrong but unfortunately people will make these biphobic assumptions)
hb addresses these issues by showing a wide variety of mspec characters with different but equally valid experiences. we have pansexual blitzo, a loving father, chronic flirt and casual hookup king, with a masc presentation and a history of mostly men, but still very much pan and his general leanings don't change that at all. we have millie, bicurious based on how excited she was to know what sex with verosika was like. verosika and her entire gang of kinky succubi with no gender preference.
we have moxxie. moxxie moxxie moxxie my sweet sweet beloved moxxie, the vanilla, happily monogamous with his gorgeous wife he thinks he doesn't deserve but would do anything for. who scoffs at stereotypical assumptions of him being a 'sissy' and his wife being a 'beard' just because of his past relationship with a man, his traditionally feminine interests and submissive bedroom leanings. who indulges in crossdressing without embarrassment, who loves theatre, phantom especially, has a crush on michael crawford he is able to share openly with his wife, who he loves and is committed to and she understands that. WHO IS PROUDLY BISEXUAL AND SAYS SO TO HIS ABUSIVE, HOMOPHOBIC AND BIPHOBIC FATHER. i nearly sobbed.
beyond the examples i've talked about here, basically everyone in hb is clearly written with the intent of "mspec until said/shown otherwise" (eg stolas). it makes sense how true it all hits when vivienne medrano herself is bisexual.
basically the solution to Avoiding Stereotypes of a marginalized identity in your writing is...put a lot of representation and show the width of experiences there can be. even crass, largely unsubtle helluva boss understands that. be better!!

Well that episode was painful to watch from start to finish.
Boston is staying my toxic king. 🙌🏻
Sand is the bi rep I fucking deserve.
And Rays “friends” continuing to be shitty? Fun.
I kinda wanted to bite everyone this episode. And not in the good way.
But my love for Sand stays strong as ever.

12 Autumnal Reads With Pan Rep
Tumblr media
As the days grow longer in the Northern hemisphere we don more layers, grab a hot drink, and say goodbye to summer. While maybe too cuddling up with a book. In similar fashion to the past for Pan Pride Day with wintry stories, and Pan Visibility Day for sunny reads, this time I’ve put together a list of examples offering pan rep set around the autumn season. Across demographics, several genres, and various lengths, the cozy to murderous, feasibly one will fit that next read. But no matter what may suit one’s tastes and whims, as always happy reading! (For content notes please see my reviews on Storygraph.)
Tumblr media
A Strange and Stubborn Endurance by Foz Meadows, boasting a gorgeous autumn leaf themed cover, is a hefty first installment in the fantasy series the The Tithenai Chronicles. An unprecedented surprise diplomatic marriage between nobles Velasin vin Aro (gay) and Caethari Xai Aeduria, (bi/pan) sparks more than attraction. Violence, murder, and a hefty dose of intrigue swirl.
The Adventures of Isabel by Candas Jane Dorsey, the first in the Epitome Apartments Mystery series with a cast of colorful characters, is an offbeat mystery. Opening in September, at its center a coarse Canadian ex-social worker turned clueless amateur detective (bisexual/ambisexual/pansexual). Convinced to investigate the murder of a friend’s granddaughter, more than a case will end up cracking.
Tumblr media
All the Things We Do in the Dark by Saundra Mitchell is a YA psychological thriller. Set in small-town Maine in October and told by Ava (pan), a 17-year-old with PTSD who stumbles on the body of a murdered teenage girl. Scared, haunted, and distrustful she’ll sleuth out a killer while trying to hold herself together. Author Saundra Mitchell is also pansexual. Note this is furthermore a title that has been banned in some libraries in the US.
Bride of the Corpse King by Emily Shore is a New Adult dark fantasy retelling of Hades and Persephone. Needing the winnings for her family, Isla Adayra (pansexual) enters the Bone Games. Further to escape a match with a dreadful lascivious Elder, she’ll offer herself to one more powerful the Corpse King. Allysteir accepted his duty of the gods’ Curse, but year after year the cost bearing the spirit of the God of Death weighs heavily. Allysteir doesn’t want another bride, but Isla just might be strong enough to tempt Death and even more.
Tumblr media
The Ghosts of Halloweenby Ceillie Simkiss takes a light Christmas Carol vibe presenting three bite-sized Halloween short stories about couple Cora (panromantic asexual) and Elena (lesbian) from the Learning Curves series, I previously mentioned in my wintry post. Expect more of what makes this romance series a treat. Author Ceillie Simkiss is also panromantic asexual.
The Home I Find with You by Skye Kilaen is a hopepunk polyam romance set in the aftermath of a second civil war in the United States. Van (pan) the lead defender for a circuit of towns in rural Colorado with his girlfriend Hadas meet Clark (gay,) after Clark shows up unexpectedly in the aptly named Freshtown. As a previous threat and winter also approach, this is a hopeful title centered on people and kindness in spite of violence that may leave the reader feeling warm inside as well. Author Skye Kilaen is also bi/pan.
Tumblr media
How to Find a Missing Girl by Victoria Wlosok, a fresh debut YA thriller, features an amateur teenage sleuth Iris Blackthorn (cis pansexual) with two of her friends, Sammy Valdez-Taylors (cis lesbian) and Imani Turner (non-binary lesbian). The trio forms a sapphic detective agency out to solve the disappearance of two people close to Iris as the clock ticks down during the Louisiana autumn. Author Victoria Wlosok is also pansexual.
Sweet to the Core by Amy Aislin set in a small seaside town in Maine is a romance novel between Dev (gay) who owns his own bakery and his cousin’s best friend Clark (pansexual) a wildlife biologist. Dev’s harbored a crush on Clark since childhood. Clark is usually a no-strings-attached guy. But set aside the pumpkin spice and enjoy another staple of the autumn season— apples. When the two team up entering an inaugural baking contest with a sizeable cash prize, mouthwatering baked goods aren’t the only thing that is very sweet.
Tumblr media
Trick or Treat by Sydney Blackburn is good if you’re in the festive mood for a sweet little, short story Halloween treat featuring Drew (genderfluid pansexual) and David (cis bisexual) meeting on All Hallows’ Eve.
Vampirella from horror host to heroinesince 1969 has become a sensual pansexual icon enthralling comic readers across the globe. Including me with Vampi having the honour of being the first pan character I knew of. If you need some direction on what to read, SYFY has a Pull List for the Legacy of Vampirella. (Though I’d skip anything by Warren Ellis.)
Tumblr media
Wild and Crooked by Leah Thomas has Kalyn and Gus two teenagers that become unlikely friends despite a decades old murder that connects them. Set in small-town lush Kentucky autumn with a smell “like sticky cinnamon”, the slow burn here isn’t romance— but a mystery. There’s abundant queerness: Kalyn likes girls. Gus questions and is regarded as pansexual by many readers and critics to quote “When it comes to people, I care about personality before anything else, and gender’s another characteristic that factors into that. Maybe that does land me in one queer realm or another”. Plus, his mother has a female partner. Too note, garnering young adult award nominations, this is another title that has been listed among book challenges.
The Witches of Portland series by T. Thorn Coyle brings readers an urban fantasy with a social justice basis and dash of romance. Each installment focuses on different members of the Arrow and Crescent coven in Portland, Oregon. If you’re intimidated by the full nine-volume set don’t worry, the books also can be read as standalones. Author T. Thorn Coyle is also bi/pan/queer.
By Dusk (Book 7) set around the autumn equinox features coven member Moss (pansexual) an environmental activist working to prevent pollution of the Willamette. And new to Portland, the rich, on the surface carefree party girl Shaggy. The two previously hooked up at a festival but might have more.
By Dark (Book 8) set in the last week of October thru Dia de Los Muertos features coven member Alejandro (bisexual/pansexual) an IT consultant entering a midlife crisis and his likewise polyamorous partner Shekinah (queer) a graphic designer and Kundalini yoga devotee. But when a friend of Shekinah’s starts having terrifying visions that also besiege Alejandro, it’s an interfaith all-hands-on-deck to uncover dark secrets and affect something terrible afoot in Portland.

People I'd Like to Get to Know Better
Tagged by @azim-steppes ^3^
Last Song Listened To:
“Wouldn’t You Like” from Epic the Musical. It’s a musical currently in the process of being written, based on the tale of the Odyssey. This song is SUCH a fun one, and I can’t wait to listen to how he portrays the next part of the story (*coughUnderworld Saga is released April 26th cough*)
youtube
Currently Watching:
Finishing my rewatch of the Owl House (and crying all over again because I just love Hunter, my sad awkward boy who just wants to be a kid for once, and he finds friends who accept him—plus he and Willow AAAAA; not to mention the bi-rep with Luz and her relationship with Amity, and then the Collector and King—OH AND FLAPJACK AAAAUGH). Also watching A Condition Called Love cuz the first episode aired last Thursday and I am SOOOO happy with it, and am TRYING to watch Dungeon Meshi but my Netflix is being stupid (;̦̦̦̦̦̦̦̦ↂ⃝⃓⃙⃚⃘дↂ⃝⃓⃙⃚⃘;̦̦̦̦̦̦̦̦)
Sweet/Savoury/Spicy?:
I think probably sweet, though I do love savory foods. And, yknow, I’m from Texas, so I enjoy spicy food—but it has to be spice with a PURPOSE. It has to ENHANCE the flavor, not just try to melt your brains. Sweet, though—hohoHOOO. Yeah. I’ve definitely got a sweet tooth. Again, though, it can’t just be sweet for the sake of sweetness. There should be a little something extra in there to counteract the sweet ( ̄ε ̄〃)b
(I think I just like food LOL;;;;)
Relationship Status:
Single Pringle ( ´,_ゝ`)
Current Obsession:
Genshin impact, ffxiv (thanks a LOT lol, I love my little gremlin girl Nelle), and getting “A”s in my grad courses so I can raise my gpa and get into a masters program for speech language pathology. So, you may notice there are potential obstacles to that last one, evidenced by the previously stated obsessions (๑⃙⃘·́ω·̀๑⃙⃘)੨

My gender headcanons for the Pjo/Hoo cast
Percy:Transfem and if you think otherwise, then (not) sorry but you're wrong. She's SUCH a girl, everything about her screams it but the first example that pops into my mind is how her feelings towards Annabeth read less like she's in love with her and more like she's confusing gender envy for attraction.Bigender as well, her other gender being demiboy and as she gets older, she starts using she/he/they pronouns and presenting femininely. She's very nervous about going on estrogen but cries tears of happiness when she sees how it affects her for the first time.On a funny note, since she's such a mom friend towards Nico and Hazel,Leo jokingly calls her a milf
Sally:Stud(which is a term for butch lesbian but black exclusive). This one is honestly pure self-indulgence,because i ADORE when gnc female characters are kind and soft and 'Percy Jackson's mom is a butch lesbian' is an incredibly powerful sentence
Annabeth:Transmasc he/him butch lesbian.Percabeths can kiss my entire ass,he is NOT a 'tsundere',he is a lesbian overcompensating because everyone keeps telling him he has to like boys and that's incredibly obvious when you look at how he treats Percy to show him he's romantically interested, which is literally him being a dick to him VS how much more chemistry he has with Piper and Reyna.Gets himself a pixie cut and starts working out to get buffer once he embraces his true self, eventually getting top surgery too
Clarisse:Transmasc genderfluid butch,she/he/they/xe.I like both the lesbian and bi headcanons for her so i switch between seeing her as genderfluid as in 'girl and genderless' or 'girl and boy'
Thalia:Definitely a Link situation.Trans girl?Absolutely,we love a punk trans girlboss.Trans guy?Goth fuckboy rep(who unlike his dad knows what consent is).Nonbinary?No gender,only Green Day
Beckendorf:Transmasc swag, can see him as either a straight trans king or a stud like Sally(open your eyes to lesbian Charlena, cowards!!!!!)
Silena:Transfem demigirl,she/they + a small collection of 'cutesy' neopronouns
Nico:Trans guy who is binary but uses he/they/xe/bat and presents adrogynously. The first person Percy came out to and they both cried and got themselves McDonalds to chat over gender
Bianca:The reverse of Nico, trans girl who's binary and uses she/her but is butch(same deal as Sally, gentle butch supremacy)
Rachel:Autigender trans girl,she/they.Her dad was very shitty about her identity but then Percy roasted him so hard over it that he's scared to say anything about it(this is when Rachel knew she had to date her)
Jason:Agender guy,he/him.T4T Team Mom and Dad Jercy so true
Piper:Nonbinary trans girl who's butch,she/he/they,grew up getting misgendered by her bullies because of her gncness but Thalia helped her embrace herself again once she told her about it due to going through the same thing before running away from Beryl
Leo:I can definitely see him as a trans guy or a male-aligned nonbinary person but tbh i find him being the token cis so fucking funny, especially in the context of Valson.Busty trans goddess x just some guy is VERY good(Soriel vibes)
Drew:Autigender transfem demigirl,she/they/xe.Anybody who tells her she's super femme to 'overcompensate' is getting the ass kicking of a life time by Cabin 10
Frank:Trans man,he/him,gives off the same accidental coding that transfem Percy does
Hazel:Trans girl,she/they/cake.Defines her gender as 'anything pink and cute'
Reyna:Demigirl,she/they.She's autistic and feels detached to cis girlhood as a result

I just finished reading ‘Legendborn’ and ‘BloodMarked’ by Tracy Deonn and wow! I’m blown away by both books.
Legendborn was a perfect and outstanding 1st book of a series. It dealt with grief, trauma, racism, oppression and heritage in a way I’d never seen in a book. Well, in a YA book before.
The main character is a black, sixteen year old girl named Bree Matthews who goes to this Early College on a college campus. On Bree first night she accidentally witnesses a magical killing that is connected to this secret magical order. Bree continues to witness these magical things and she starts to believe that this Magical Order may be connected to her mother’s death. She is then introduced to Nick Davis, a member of the magical order, and learns about The Legendborn who are connected to King Arthur and his 13 knights and their battle with the Shadowborn (demons). This book has a good quick romance, some good ole rivalries & enemies, several Bi, Gay, and non binary reps. Has a lot of black history, PTSD, struggles with grief, mental health, and trauma. Definitely a 10/10 book and a book I will always recommend to other people.
“Don’t make you life about the loss. Make it about the love.” One of my favorite quotes from the book that stuck with me.
Tumblr media
BloodMarked came in equally as good as it’s prequel. Although it did not necessarily knock me off my feet as hard as Legendborn did, but still left me utterly speechless. This book went even deeper into generational trauma, racism, and forging your own path. I also feel like we got a lot more of King Arthur, Merlin, and Lancelot. It also brought in a love triangle (which I have a lot to speak about but won’t due to spoilers. Just know I’m Team Selwyn!) The group this book follows is my favorite, Bree who is the embodiment of Black Girl Magic. William is fiercely loyal with that older brother energy. Alice who is the definition of a ride or die friend. Sad boy Selwyn who is deeply complicated, loyal, an asshole and a badass.
The endings for both books are jaw droppers. Seriously, I’m still thinking about the ending to BloodMarked!!!! Tracy Deonn truly has something so freaking special with the Legendborn Cycle. I can not wait for book #3.

Remember that old ask game where I asked you about what happens in Scum Villain and you asked me about the contents of Star Trek? I would be FASCINATED to know what impression my dash has given you of the Owl House
So this might be a bit disappointing, but I actually do know some stuff about The Owl House. Because you're not my only friend who likes that show, I've seen it a lot on the dash. I do want to watch it eventually but you ever seen that post about your brain won't let me watch something new until the time is right but who knows when that will be? If we were RL I've say we'd need to have a binge session because that usually helps Yeah. That's me.
Anyway Luz is a teenage girl who ends up in a magical place called the boiling isles and she lives with someone called the owl lady and her little dog named King. The one with the skull. I do remember seeing something about King's dad is really powerful???? Luz wants to learn magic but isn't her family concerned about her being here???
Anyway I'm not sure why the Owl Lady is the Owl Lady, can she turn into an owl? I do know she has a sister who is aroace, because I remember seeing a post about that.
And then your babygirl is a puritan from the real world (time travel????) and he doesn't like all the magic. He also has that form that makes him look like a skeleton/ deer mix. Also he has a brother named Philip, because you have mentioned that.
While there, Luz meets a girl named Amity, who has green hair and then purple hair, who starts off as someone awful but then becomes better and they date. Someone else showed me the scene where they became girlfriends and it was really cute. And Luz is bi, because I saw that screenshot from the show about how she came out as bi. Also, girls dating in a Disney show??? I'm so happy to see that.
They and their friends, who I remember are named Gus and Willow and Hunter fight against your Belos and some little babygod called The Collector.
I do remember everyone saying the Collector is just a kid and he's extremely powerful, which is interesting. Is Belos using him? I also remember I once saw a post about Luz's mom (wonder how she figured out her daughter was in this magical place) could stop The Collector with the power of being a mother.
Anyway, from what I heard it was cancelled early but had great rep for LGBTQ rep. But I did hear that it deserved more screen time. Hopefully the fanfics are good.

I feel like... people here are to... hyper inclusive, while yes that sounds bad, give me a moment.
People, no matter what, always seem to make a character with they/them pronouns, or every pronoun, or just... make them lgbt in some way. And while yes, it's good that there is representation. It just feels... icky.... when they do it with every character. Not a single one being cis or straight.
And while yes I have seen cis or straight versions, those are in the minority from what I've seen and it's getting uncomfortable the way people keep going at it. And this is coming from someone IN the community, being both aro and bi/pan (not sure which one yet), the way people do it again and again feels almost... fetishy?
Again, not that representation is bad. Make your yuri and yaoi or whatever its called. But when you make every single character queer? It just... feels wrong, again, like a fetish.
Of course, it's not only in this community that I feel it, but I'm most active in this one. It just doesn't sit right with me, especially like... trans Five Pebbles, while, you go king/queen if you're trans, last I checked, Pebbles was never trans to begin with and forcing him to be trans instead of making all your own just feels wrong. Like it's creating a new minority.
I just needed to get this off my chest because it's been scratching at my brain for a while.
It just iffs me when you ONLY make lgbt, honestly though, it might just be the horridity of the world getting to me.
I'm glad this confession thing is here, so I can say this anonymously so I'm not dog piled and harassed because I KNOW people are out there like that.
And once again, though it sounds like I am lying with this because it's often used that way. I am part of the community myself. And I'm, again, not saying doing lgbt rep is bad, just that doing so so much and only lgbt comes off bad to me. Just to reiterate that....
This is written repetitively but I have to write like this to reassure myself that the point is gotten across and that there is no mix up.
