Having the urge to write angst when I need to be writing fluff is so annoying

girls don’t want hannibal season 4 girls want a spin-off show that’s basically master chef but hannibal is the only judge and the rest of the cast are contestants except the catch is they don’t know all the ingredients are people-based (except will who’s desperately trying to convince everyone while also having homoerotic tension with hannibal) and it’s filmed like the special features clips on the shrek 2 DVD

I don’t usually make posts like this, but I’ve been seeing a lot of anti-intellectual junk lately, and I really think we need to put the word “pretentious” up on a shelf until people learn what it actually means.
It doesn’t describe someone who likes artsy-fartsy deep meaning media. People who are pretentious are fake. They’re posers trying to be sophisticated and unique, not like other girls. They pretend to only like stuff they think will make them sound cool when they talk about it. They want to act like they know something you don’t, and they want attention for it.
By definition, if you genuinely enjoy something, you can’t be pretentious. If it resonates with you, and you analyze it, and you don’t care what people think, that’s the polar opposite, actually. If you love obscure experimental prog music, if you watch underground high concept indie films through English teacher eyes, if you spend hours in a modern art museum reading each piece as a vessel for storytelling, if your backpack’s full of poetry books that inspire you, if you play underrated games that were someone’s passion project, if you have an interest in studying the classics or the masters, you are not pretentious.
Of course, some people just don’t like some stuff, and that’s fine, but that’s not what this is about. Don’t let anti-intellectuals shame you for enjoying things just because your interests are inaccessible to them, because they refuse to be brave and put effort into critical thinking. You’re not stuck up for refusing to overlook the craft of artists.

denethor is said to have been greatly affected by finduilas’ death, right. and i know their marriage was a political one but i like to believe that they still loved each other. not in the ‘traditional sense’ i guess but they loved each other’s spirits, their souls. the duty (as they viewed it) to protect their people & the willpower to do it, they both shared. and so i think that more precious than love, they understood each other perfectly. as no one else could, or did. i can’t stop thinking about denethor’s grief at losing her. to love someone, and to have them understand you, but to lose them so abruptly… no wonder denethor became embittered by her death. i think he became sad too. closed-off. built even more walls around him, not wanting to be seen as vulnerable by anyone. but his anger, at what (or whom), exactly? he already broke up with god when he was young. at the universe? at his fate? to have lost her so unfairly.
i came here to talk about their love & somewhere in the middle lost myself in his grief lol. never mind, bc what is grief if not love persevering????? they loved each other. i can’t. i CAN’T get over this simple truth. the love was there. it wouldn’t have been this tragic if there’s wasn’t. the love was there. and isn’t that enough (it isn’t. but it is. IT IS). the love was there. THE LOVE WAS. THERE. sobbing. truly sobbing DON’T TOUCH ME

i have to be honest, i don’t really understand why people think that the writers backtracked on lottie’s characterization in season 2… like, yeah they set up an ominous, badass cliffhanger to get us invested, and then they did what yellowjackets always does which is subvert expectations!
lottie isn’t suddenly a villain in season 2, but she’s still very much morally gray like everyone! she starts them on a path that spins wildly out of her own control and inadvertently sets the events of the hunt in motion! she’s self-sacrificing to the point of destruction! she starts a cult and tries to get the survivors to play poison russian roulette!
and the “who the fuck is lottie matthews” aspect of the cliffhanger makes perfect sense! like, lottie finds out some random woman is looking into travis which is obviously concerning to her! not only was she involved in his death, but travis was one of them! his secrets were theirs! it makes sense that lottie would want to monitor someone who was digging into one of them!
then bank lady’s pov is she gets blackmailed to look into a suspicious death and not long after starts being followed! understandably scary and concerning! it doesn’t mean lottie was plotting anything, just that bank lady has survival instincts and common sense??
as for teen lottie saying they should spill blood, one of the earliest scenes of her in season 2 is lottie pricking her own finger and offering her blood to keep nat and travis safe. she still believes they need to spill blood, but decides she wants to be the one to do it! she spends all season spilling blood!
not to mention, pretty much none of lottie’s season 1 actions point to her being a villain (not counting doomcoming which is an obvious outlier)… it just feels like people are projecting their own expectations onto her and acting like them being wrong means the writers backtracked
