I think a lot about how common it is for Raph to be the one to have direct focus put on him when Leo gets into all his near death experiences.
Like, when Leo is thrown off a building, it’s Raph who’s right there jumping after him, not even thinking about the consequences to himself when he does. When Leo almost gets skewered by the Krang, Raph’s right there to take the blow and send Leo to safety without a second thought. When Leo’s being strangled to near death, it’s a Krangified Raph doing the job, doing exactly what Raph would never, ever want to do. When Leo is telling Casey Jr to close the portal, it’s Raph who tries desperately to convince Leo otherwise.
Likewise, Leo is consistently very single minded when Raph gets forcibly separated from them. Both when in the sewers and by the Krang, Leo is dead set on finding Raph first and foremost.
I also think it’s interesting that during each of Leo’s near death experiences, the lightheartedness of his words during them goes directly hand in hand with both how close Raph is to him physically and how much danger Raph is also in in that moment. From a literal “I told you so” as Leo’s falling away from Raph to a soft joke about how “hero moves” are Raph’s style - both of these are on the more morbidly carefree side and both of these notably take Leo farther away from Raph and, in turn, have Raph not in immediate danger.
On the other side of things is the apology from Leo, heedless of the danger he himself is in as he seriously and genuinely speaks to a Krangified Raph face to face. Then there’s Leo’s freezing and desperation as Raph takes a hit meant for him and sends just Leo to safety, leaving Raph himself behind. Both of these involve much closer proximity and Raph being directly harmed - these together make Leo much more vulnerable in his words and actions, something not even the threat of death can make him.
These two care about each other so much, and they’re way too much alike for their own good.

Gentle, gently...
Okay, I'll be honest...as much as it hurts my heart to draw grief and heavy emotions, I really did enjoy drawing these two struggle to interact well with one another. I had to more or less push myself to not make their interaction be entirely soft and 'easy' for either of them.
All in all...they're both tired and need a nap pronto.

Hey! i’m really into the dbch story and i was wondering if doc and xisuma ever tell bdubs the specifics of why etho lost his memories, cause if they do that is prime self blaming angst for bdubs
I’m inclined to believe they don’t. Actually (and maybe I should do a small comic for this so more people see it) I imagine, once a month or a few pass and they finally return etho to bdubs as reset, I imagine they are VERY serious about warning bdubs not to try to force Etho to re-deviate— they don’t go into specifics, but they probably tell bdubs that whatever happened had to do with something that was emotionally overwhelming, and that forcing him to redeviate/not letting it happen naturally could trigger the same error. They have no idea what could happen so bdubs needs to be very careful and let Etho find himself again on his own.
Whether or not bdubs gets impatient or can only go so long before he doubts it would be that bad if he tried pushing Etho in the right direction is another story.
But yeah. I don’t think Xisuma or Doc really… tell anyone that this happened. Etho’s error seemed like a very specific one-off scenario, so it’s not something the other hermits should be trying to avoid or be careful about happening to their own android friends, and the only thing telling people would do is make them worried about the situation. All they need to know is that etho was broken and that they need to be careful with him. I don’t agree with their decision to keep what happened to themselves but I understand it I think. Xisuma “i don’t want to worry the hermits” Void and Docm “eh this isn’t the first time I’ve replaced this arm, people won’t question it” 77

vivinos patreon post about round 6 is only making me more mentally ill because what do you MEAN their original concept for the ivantill kiss was more romantic but because it overlapped with mizisua they made it more complex, delicate, and emotional.
this is not a complaint, to be clear. their execution of the layers of emotion, communication and narrative in Cure was insane especially because the ivantill kiss was decidedly not romantic. it was DESPERATE. it was ivan’s last ditch effort to ensure till’s victory. but also, I think, an attempt to make till hate him. ivan is finally getting to kiss till for the first (and last) time, but you can SEE he isn’t happy or enjoying it. he doesn’t think till will mourn him. he only allows a brief, barely there kiss as his final admission to the true depth of his feelings, but how much would that register for till in that moment? it doesn’t start to all click into place until ivan is slipping away, lying on the ground at his feet. all of till’s shock and confusion and frustration returning to him when ivan is near, when ivan essentially BREATHES that life back into him. but till will only be able to process all of it, AND how he feels about it, now that it’s too late. now that ivan is gone. ivan isn’t so different from sua. he clearly understands her choice because he makes the same one. he can’t live without till. he thinks that till won’t feel anything because till isn’t like mizi, but till never had the CHANCE to feel that or explore that. there’s so much we still don’t know about till’s perspective on his relationship with ivan. what he feels. IF this is going to become even MORE tragic with till having to live with discovering how much ivan loved him and starting to see ivan in everything and love him back.
I hate alien stage so much, they cannot keep getting away with this
