Def a controversial take on Voltron but I don't like Alluras character in later seasons.

Not because of ship wars and everything else, Lance and Allura were ADORABLE together-

What I don't like about her character was how it felt like she was pretty much reduces to Lance's love interest and how she seemed to get younger over the span of the last few seasons.

Allura is such a strong, powerful female protagonist and I wish they elaborated more on that rather than just making her do reckless things to further the plot.

On the flip side I understand why she made the decisions she did such as letting the entity in and traveling into Honervas mind. They were all desperate and trying to win but weren't making any progress and it was time sensitive.

I really love Allura but more of the Fandom version of her, strong independent woman. It felt like they were trying to make her rely on a male character, but in the same thought it was nice seeing those relationships blooming between them.

The only problems I really have with Allura and Lance getting together is how little we actually see of their relationship and how quickly they got close after Lotor.

I do genuinely think they're so sweet together and it was such an important thing for Allura to give Lance Altean marks. I want to emphasize the fact that me being a klance shipper has NOTHING to do with the fact of not liking Alluras character- it was just the way the creaters decided to push her character in the end.

She showed so much improvement throughout the show and grew just like the rest of the characters and I really wish they did more with her than just a love interest and sacrifice.

Also it didn't really make sense to me on why she had to die if someone could help explain that please? I've been hyperfixated on this show for YEARS but I still can't really understand why she had to.

I would've loved to see more of her after the war and I think Allura out of ANYONE deserved to live.

roman roy and fleabag parallels

hi. so, the worms in my brain got a little (very) out of hand and this post is a result of it👍

let's talk about the line "i dont know what to do with all the love i have for her i dont know where to put it." fleabag as a character is deeply, incredibly flawed. she's broken, depressed, self-destructive; i could go on and on. to me, the show was essentially about love and grief and being able to find support in the people around you, and coming to terms with the fact that there are in fact, people that love you and that you deserve to be loved. fleabag thinks she's "greedy, perverted, selfish, apathetic, cynical and depraved" and yeah, she is, but she's also trying her damned best to get through life goddamit. roman, my precious failbaby, my son, he literally thinks of himself as unlovable, thinks he deserves being hit because he's "annoying." the core of roman's self-hate stems from the abuse he suffered as a child (and continues to), all those years that he spent trying to please a father who thought there was something wrong with him. he's a cruel, evil guy (first time we see that on screen was the baseball game where he promised that kid 1 mil and then proceeded to tear the cheque in front of his eyes) and yeah, he too, is "greedy, perverted, selfish, apathetic, cynical and depraved."

"i think you know how to love better than any of us that's why you find it all so painful." phoebe waller-bridge why would you do this to me. do i even have to elaborate on this line? fleabag holds so much love in her she doesn't know what to do with it she wants to be loved but doesn't want to go through the terrible ordeal of being known, of being seen, her boyfriend literally told her "don't make me hate you, loving you is hard enough as it is", the priest's speech on love, his decision to choose to stay or leave her and he chose the former !!!! her relationship with her sister, how claire loves her but doesn't see her, not the way the priest did. just. yeah. rome. he has so, so much love to give. i think out of all the characters on succ, he's the one vulnerable enough to say something like "i don't know dad, love?" like??? and that scene where he asks greg to get him one of logan's sweater, something that smells like him?? how he's the one who initiates hugs?? "hey can we do the hug-y thing"??????????? ARHJHJEFKHDFS im not going to elaborate on the love he has for logan or his siblings bc there are sooo many posts that do it better than i could, but essentially, just like fleabag, roman wants to be loved but he doesn't think of himself as deserving of it.

their relationship with sex. it's so different but also not?? my friend phrased it for me so im just going to paste that over here (my fave part about this is the fact that they literally haven't watched succession but figured all this out from whatever i've told them HAH)

The way they played Jaws seems like they’d pause at about the 4:40 mark and then keep going with that extra end bit… which explains why the length of the one from Download 2018 is only 4:35. I.E. The Download 2018 video for Jaws ended prematurely. That also explains why the video for Nazareth has the Jaws outro. So, unfortunately, there's no secret Mandela Effect. Boo 😢

hey I saw your tags on that one simpsons linguistics post and like legit curious... what's linguistic relativity? (this is assuming you'd wanna talk about it; if not feel free to tell me to google it 👍)

as much as I love a good rant sadly I have a migraine on top of COVID so I am not up for one right now, so yeah, I recommend looking it up to get The Full Info, the wikipedia page is pretty good

it's also known as the sapir-whorf hypothesis but that's inaccurate

there's a strong version ("language super controls how you think") and a weak version ("language influences how you think a little bit") and as you may be able to guess the strong version is almost definitely wrong while there's decent evidence for the weak version

the basic points of my Entire Rant are:

honestly I'm still a lil suspicious of the weaker version at times/at least suspicious of how it's interpreted

I would like to confiscate the strong version from sff authors for at least twenty years. no more linguistic relativity for you. you can't use it anymore. I'm so tired. Ted Chiang you get an exception because Story of Your Life (short story that was the basis for the movie "Arrival") is very good even if it is scientifically inaccurate. but I think it's overdone, frankly often stupid, and playing into public perception of this kind of stuff which is a problem because...

Trent beamed at him, and then in a flash, threw himself forward. And suddenly Ted has an armful of enthusiastic Trent Crimm. Trent is—hugging him??? Ted, not upset but very confused at this development, slowly hugs back, and then pats his back twice. Trent is warm and solid and hugging him tightly, which is actually—really nice. Also, he smells nice, which is a fact Ted files away under Stop Being Weird. Trent pulls away, still beaming, and says “Ted! Hello!” It feels like he’s actually adding about five exclamation points to each word. “Oooooooh,” says the woman, “Teeeed.” And then she says to Trent, lower but still extremely audible to Ted, “who’s Ted again? Do we know Ted? Do we like Ted?” “We like Ted,” Trent affirms. He gives a dorky little thumbs up. Ted is fascinated.

i'm sorry this is long i just really like so many things about this interaction. ted having 'an armful of enthusiastic trent crimm' and trent being a human ':D!!'. sasha stealing the drink back while he's distracted. 'he smells nice with ted files away under Stop Being Weird'. my favorite part might be the end with 'who's ted? do we like ted?' 'we like ted 👍' dlkjfghfgh

(and the later payoff of ted being like yknow i know being called wanker all the time is in of itself its own brand of affection but it was kind of nice to ahve someone be genuinely delighted to see me, let alone someone that i suspected respected me but did not like me--but apparently he really, really likes me, which is kinda nice to hear)

sometimes ⟟ wonder how people who have never seen spamton content at all react when seeing him for the first time. shocked about his appearance? "why does he talk like that?" like

imagine some absolute noob sees how he talks and is like "🤯🤯🤯" because its hard for them to read his dialogue or see how he looks in canon vs fanart and they just cry because they think hes creepy and off putting

what if they decide to go dumpster diving (AHAHAH) into his lore and they see just how tragic his character is and question the fandom like "yall simp for this?!"

and us spamton fans will be like "yea because we feel bad for him 👍👍👍" ⟟ bet the fanfics will either make them cry (out of sadness) or cry (out of fear) maybe both with the way the fandom is

theyd die seeing the memes tho because ⏃ lot of the time hes even more unhinged in the memes than the angsty fanart like just imagine they see ⏃ spamton meme and literally implode

This has been on my mind since S2 and Sharon's "truth will set you free" line but with this season, it's becoming even more evident...

MANTRA by Bring Me The Horizon is basically Richmond

Before the truth will set you free, it'll piss you off

Sharon to Ted back in S2. Very obvious there BUT the next line

Before you find a place to be, you gotta lose the plot

We heard the commentators mention Richmond having "lost the plot" in their anger towards Nathan having ripped up the BELIEVE sign. But it can also just as easily be Ted in the way he seems distant from his team. He's not really coaching this season. Says things here and there but it's nothing compared to the constant optimism he had previously.

Or Colin, who is constantly feeling like an outsider even with his great teammates and bestie Isaac. He still hasn't really found his place either. With the way the coaches took him out of the starting lineup and how that seemed to have hit him hard. He's hiding a part of him to protect himself because he's not sure he's safe.

And it could even be Jamie the first two seasons. He was the one scoring the goals but he didn't actually have a place in Richmond. He was a bully. And although having him sent back to Man City just as Ted was getting through to him probably hurt...it did help him appreciate Richmond more. He had to "lose the plot" there to find his place as one of Richmond's forwards.

I'm not vibrating like I oughta be I need a purpose, I can't keep surfing Through this existential misery

Ted this season, again, seeming detached and out of it. He's found out his ex wife has been seeing her ex therapist. The one he felt was teaming up on him with his wife during their sessions. And then being told he's a mess by Sassy so casually. As if that isn't a sensitive topic you can just throw out there just cuz you two fucked.

When we were first introduced to Ted back in S1, we saw that his marriage was not working. But he still seemed so positive and optimistic. I mean, Rebecca and Trent Crimm Independent couldn't help but end up liking him. Whenever the team was feeling down, he'd find a way to motivate them. And now it's just "don't worry, y'all are doing great 🙂👍"

Or Keeley. She's also usually quite optimistic and happy. She says so herself this episode. But now she's needing to schedule times for her to cry because she's so overwhelmed. And she's still in pain over the breakup although she tries not to think too hard about it.

But if I choose my words carefully Think I could fool you that I'm the guru Wait, how do you spell epiphany?

This is Zava. I don't think I need to go too deep into this but..."I am an empty vessel filled with gold. I am your rock, mold me." He spews this flowery inspirational bullshit and that's why not only fans adore him because of his skills, but his teammates too. Even though, eventually, they'll start to see through him. (And Jamie did right from the start)

And I know this doesn't make a lot of sense But do you really wanna think all by yourself now?

The importance of allowing others to help you. This is the start of the bridge and it's basically Ted's speech to the team after Zava's left. But here, it's emphasising the importance of support. Roy offering to train Jamie when he hears his concerns regarding Zava is an example of that. Sort of. But even though the show talks about teamwork and support, ofc not asking for it is what's causing some problems.

Ted hiding his feelings with his optimism and enthusiasm, Colin only really having his bf to talk to about queer shit (Trent will come in clutch surely), Rebecca spiralling and kind of starting to believe the words of some rando so on and so forth etc. etc.

All I'm asking for's a little bit of faith You know it's easy to believe

Again, Ted's speech to the team post-Zava. It was easy to believe in Zava. The way he praised those around him. But only so they would pay attention to him. Make him feel like the god he thinks he is. But he's not there any more. Which means, if they want to change, they need that belief regardless if there's some insanely famous and talented player on their team. Because that's not what makes a good team anyways. Belief is the foundation of this team and the foundation of the Lasso Way. (Even if Ted does not always truly believe in himself)

And here's this last line that's very brief but very much one character in particular.

Cause all you ever do is chant the same old mantra

"I am a strong and capable man." Over and over and over. It's implied that Colin doesn't fully believe himself when he says that. Because then he wouldn't need to remind himself. And if he had an elder queer (come on Trent) to talk to, maybe he'd feel even just a little bit more at ease. And it's not entirely the same as talking with Michael. His bf said it himself, he doesn't know football so probably doesn't understand the social environment within that area. So all Colin has is his mantra.

There are a few other lines I didn't put in because, tbh, couldn't really think of anything there. Or there just wasn't much to say. But with the ones I did mention ? Goddamn. So much. Anyways, thank you for coming to my TEDTalk

Let me just start by saying I LOVED Wednesday. The show is fun, creepy, mysterious, kooky, and yes, sometimes even spooky. But that's not what this post is about.

*****SPOILERS AHEAD*****

I just wanted to point out that I think what people can't put their finger on what feels off about the show is that the plot treats Wednesday like a normal protagonist. It gives her a bubblegum pop bff, a love interest, another love interest, an innocent to motivate herself by (bee boy), a rival queen bee, mommy issues, automatic popularity, and bureaucracy that gets in her way.

But the thing is, Wednesday's just trying to do her own thing. SEVERAL TIMES she tells people POINT BLANK that she doesn't understand why they expect her to understand the signals/cues they're sending her. When Enid is crying on the roof, Wednesday doesn't comfort her the way Enid needs because she doesn't know her yet and Enid gets more upset. When Tyler tells her she's "sending all these signals" she's not guilty, she's confused. When she's confronting Xavier about why he might be the Hyde, she says he hasn't hurt her because "for some inexplicable reason, he seems to like her". Time and time again, characters show interest in her because she's the protagonist so she SHOULD get all the attention. She's the titular character!

But Wednesday isn't really meant to be a protagonist in the normal sense. She isn't written for a mysterious teen romance, she's written for a more mature Nancy Drew kind of plot. And don't get me wrong!! I'll take what the show ended up being. It was fun, there was a lot of character development, and it was overall well written for the plot it came up with. And I loved the other characters! I just wanted to point out why I thought it was a little off, and everyone kind of noticed the same thing, so here it is. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk 👍
