Anyway I more or less got over what was bothering me enough to want to post it elsewhere

I'm betting my PMMM Tumblr posting permissions that Mabayu is Itzli.
Although Itzli definitely wasn't designed with the intent to be Mabayu's witch (because that was many years ago and they definitely weren't planning Scene 0 that far back), Mabayu seems like she was designed with the intent to be Itzli's magical girl.

Mabayu's dress pattern (and most official art depicting her with film rolls), matches well with the trim of Itzli's film roll (specifically the side edges of the film). This prominent film roll theme sticks out to me, as Team Madoka/MagiaRecord is good at avoiding unintentional similar themes between witches and magical girls to avoid confusion on their true magical girl/witch forms. Unless the film stuff is a BIG BIG COINCIDENCE, they are intented to look similar through the film reel themeing.
Itzli's description (from the wiki):
"The witch of oblivion, with a vengeful nature. A witch who is said to have originally been a magical girl who came from the end of the galaxy. She has shown herself now in order to forget about all the magical girls from this universe."
Itzli's description implies she wishes to be killed to finally forget about something. What could she be trying to forget? Homura's timeloops.
Mabayu has the unique ability to remember past timelines as well as move around when Homura stops time. Mabayu knows of what happens to magical girls. Mabayu sees everytime her friends die and/or become witches and has no goal to distract herself like Homura does. Mabayu becomes erased from existence; presumably only remaining in the incubator's memories (hence the far reaches of the galaxy) and being erased by Madokami's witch annihilation. Mabayu wants to forget the pain of the timeloop, and by extension, herself as a magical girl and her friends as magical girls ("she has shown herself now in order to forget about all the magical girls from this universe").
ALSO Itzli is the oblivion witch. Oblivion is the void, the void is nonexistence, IT'S ALL CONNECTED
ALSO ALSO The "vengeful nature" could possibly be towards Homura (or even Madoka) because of the timeloop taking away Mabayu's sanity, daily life, friends, and even existence.
It's not to hard for me to believe that Mabayu became Itzli at some point due to the stress of the timeloop; her sanity would decay and she'd be powerless to stop it. Even Homura, with all her time magic, eventually succumbed to being a witch simply because she couldn't hold on anymore. Mabayu, with no goal to hold onto, and no way to end the timeloop or at least to stop herself from remembering, would crack too (if not sooner and/or worse).
The connection to Walpurgisnacht exists both in Itzli and Mabayu. Itzli's familiars are nearly identical to Walpurgisnacht's, and Itzli is said to only show herself after Walpurgisnacht. Mabayu being in the timeloop is a direct result of Walpurgisnacht (since that's when/what starts Homura on her time shenanigans), and it can be presumed that Mabayu would have fought against Walpurgisnacht at some point.
The final point I'll talk about (at least for now) is the appearances: Mabayu's hair tips look like Itzli's roots, and her green moppy hair evokes the feeling of Itzli's surrounding brain goo(?). They both have a primarily green + purple palette (again, BIG COINCIDENCE if unintended). The ribbons on Mabayu also remind me of the stem and head(?) accessory on Itzli. (The brain shape is heavily connected to the concept of memory; with memories of Homura and other magical girls depicted on the side rolls.)
It's not hard for me to believe that they would give an interesting witch a magical girl in a movie because it's already happened before; Nagisa was only created for Rebellion after fans loved Charlotte. Itzli being one of the most interesting and lore-filled witches more than gives the chance that her magical girl could be featured in a movie.
In conclusion, if Mabayu isn't confirmed/revealed to be Itzli I. will. RIOT. They are perfect matches for eachother, and it will be extremely irrational to not have them be the same. (I will only accept Mabayu not being Itzli if she is instead revealed to be Walpurgisnacht).
Finally, I understand that Itzli is implied to be an alien magical girl, so please do not reblog/comment about the alien implications. I think that's pretty interesting, but Mabayu seems like such a perfect fit and my theorist brainrot must be fed.

Ok, don't laugh.
I can't find any good 'accurate' angel iconography right now - at least nothing that matches what I see in Kearsarge, but her design is very angelic. In the literal sense, unlike Plymmouth and Brest; who have divine elements in their design, but are not angels. No, Kearsarge is something else. Not angelic, but a proper angel.

However, she is not a normal angel. No, far from it.
According to the lore (that I can remember right now, meaning I'm probably getting something wrong), Priority Research ships are pulled in their entirety from different realities. The process of building them is similar to 'blueprint ships'. A blueprint ship, according to Kirov in her debut event Northern Overture, is a ship that didn't quite exist in our reality, but still had enough planned components to qualify as being somewhat real - Brünhilde, Sovetsky Soyuz, Tosa, Prinz Heinrich, those ships that didn't exist but we can acquire through the gacha are blueprint ships.
Priority Research ships take this concept and run with it until the very end - by getting ships Wargaming has designed for World of Warships, but that's the meta out-of-universe explanation. In-universe, they are ships that, in some cases, weren't even planned to begin with. Roon is the best example, in my opinion - and by extension Hindenburg as well, I believe. Roon wasn't planned at any point during WW2. There were some designs, to the best of my knowledge, about a potential triple 203mm turret, but that's the whole extent.
On the opposite side, you have Ibuki. Ibuki was being built in real life, as a heavy cruiser in fact, but they started converting her to a seaplane tender before WW2 ended, and they never finished her.
USS Kearsarge is the name Wargaming chose for an insane design by Gibbs & Cox - Project 1058.1, of a hybrid battleship commissioned by the USSR. As Kearsarge herself says in her introduction, let's refer to this as Hybrid Idealization X. Designed from the keel up to be a pure hybrid BB, unlike the Japanese hybrids. How does all of this relate to Azur Lane and why her design is so angel-like?
The way I interpret the game mechanics and lore we know, is that PRs are from another universe entirely. My interpretation is that we don't get the other universe's version of, say, Chkalov; but an interpretation of her.
This is my headcanon: Kearsarge, in her original reality, is an attempt at creating an angel. I suspect she comes from either Anchorage's reality (based on how similar their design philosophies are, as if Anchorage were a little cherub, explaining her infant-like personality), or the reality we visit in Yorktown's II event. Maybe they are the same. Maybe one of the realities is an alternate universe of the other one, making them related.

Kearsarge has a sort of halo device that acts as a sort of physical interface between her and her rigging. She is literally hooked up to her halo, and her halo is in turn connected to her own rigging.

Her rigging, while only having two 'wings', is designed in such a way to appear as if she has more than two wings. Like a seraph, she gives the impression of having six wings.
I don't really have a conclusion. This is reaching, but this is what brainrot does to you.

My little creature of a custom durge. He's a College of Lore bard whose main purpose is to Misty Step into the middle of everything, activate Phalar Aluve, and be a total pain in the ass with Cutting Words. On honor mode I play him as a swords bard tav alongside my friend's open hand monk and the combo is rancid.
Paris is a very old, pre-existing OC that I use for any game with a custom character creator because I hardcore struggle with making new characters for things. I initially intended to romance Karlach with him because I thought it'd be a good match, but then Gale happened to both of us LMAO
Wanted to share his ref plus a little drawing based one of Gale's patch 6 kisses! Beware, extensive Paris yappin' ahead ⬇
Paris is a resistant, and eventually redeemed, dark urge whose story runs alongside my friend's tav Ralum (the dragonborn in the 3rd image). Pre-nautiloid, the two of them have a rather nasty encounter where Paris, completely lost to himself under Bhaal's will, attempts to end Ralum in an act of typical Bhaalspawn bloodlust. Ralum manages to survive by swearing a paladin's oath against his would-be killer and using his newfound divine healing to stitch himself back together just enough to survive. Ralum never caught sight of Paris due to the nature of the attack, so when they encounter one another after the abduction, they actually get along swimmingly.
Paris and Ralum become the party's de-facto leaders, Paris as the face and Ralum as the muscle, and they get along quite well. There is a quirk to the tadpole connection between them- it's looser, both because Paris's brain is twenty kinds of damaged, and because of their unknown personal history. For a good while after they first meet, their thoughts bleed into one anothers' heads. Ralum is able to get a hold on it quickly, but Paris can only do so much. Apart from the occasional, very loud thought about Gale's big butt though, it isn't so bad.
Then, into Act 2, when pieces of the dark urge's history fall into place, and Paris starts to put together the forgotten details of his past, he realizes that he is the target of Ralum's oath. Not wanting to get Divine Smited into oblivion, he keeps it a secret. Unfortunately, most of the clues regarding the dark urge's history are like, easily observable conversations and artifacts, and Ralum isn't far behind on figuring things out. By the time they reach Rivington, things are tense and scary and bad. There is a clear line drawn through the party through rising tension alone, and then act 3 stuff happens so-
I have a fic planned about their journey together, but as someone who is still new to writing things with the intent to be read by others, it's too big a project for me to feel confident in continuing at the moment. I might break it down into a series of oneshots, but at some point I do want to get it all down. I think it'd be fun, and my pal seems to enjoy the rambles 😊
Also- GALE. Paris is so obsessed with Gale both because they have remarkable chemistry and because I'm obsessed with Gale and Paris is my character so... yeah. It was a love-at-first sight thing for Paris, but since he feels that way about tons of people who show him a shred of kindness (he had a crush on Ralum for about a tenday after meeting him post-nautiloid) he doesn't take it seriously at all. Gale is fun to talk to (Paris is a yapper to rival Gale, make no mistake) and he's funny and admittedly quite cute, but so are a lot of people, and Paris is so off from the abduction, amnesia, and illness from his urge that he doesn't really have the bandwidth to think much more on it.
What ends up solidifying their bond initially is pain. Gale has chronic pain from the orb, and due to the absolutely wild shit Kressa Bonedaughter and Orin did to the dark urge, as well as the fact that a durge seems to suffer sometimes severe physical consequences from resisting their urge, they both feel like shit all the time. While Paris generally keeps his pain hidden, Gale can recognize it. Paris, meanwhile, finds a lot of catharsis in offering Gale relief, as if it's proof that he's more than what his dark urge demands him to be. They make a habit of spending their evenings together over a glass of wine and a bit of healing magic. Sometimes a book, but Paris's brain is usually pretty fatigued by nightfall, so Gale will occasionally read to him.
By the time the act 1 weave scene happens, there is already a pretense of intimacy to it, and when Paris pictures the pair of them cuddled up and watching the stars together, it goes over quite well. I don't think either of them are ready for a proper romantic relationship- Paris cannot remember how his last one ended (spoiler, it was VERY bad) but he carries a lingering anxiety around the prospect of entering a new one, and Gale has all of his Mystra baggage, but there is a newfound sense of commitment and a real promise of something in the future.
They're both extremely devoted partners and are honestly kinda gross by the end of the tadpole adventure with how mushy and in love they are. They are tragically separated at the end though, as Paris goes to Avernus with Karlach after Wyll is severely injured in the final battle, and that has NOTHING to do with the fact that it gives an opportunity for bloodweave to develop in the 6 month timespan between the defeat of the netherbrain and the reunion party. (Paris is polyamorous and doesn't know if he'll survive Avernus, and he tells Gale that he deserves whatever love comes his way. He asks that Gale not wait on Paris's return, but if there is a place for him in Gale's heart when he returns, he will gladly come back to him.) At the party, a very eager Wyll takes Paris's place at Karlach's side, loaded with newfound ranger skills honed under the careful guidance of Minsc and Boo (Karlach and Wyll geeking out over Minsc and Jaheira is so CUTE and the idea of Wyll training as a ranger under their tutelage, especially so he can make his way to Avernus to be with Karlach, makes my heart explode), so Paris ends up going back to Waterdeep with Gale and Astarion.
Idk if things develop romantically between Paris and Astarion beyond their mutual love for Gale. What I do know is that Gale deserves to be trapped between two men who want to eat him, affectionately.
Also, trans Gale is a really beloved headcanon to me, so Paris and Gale are a t4t couple yeaaaAAAAAAH BABY
I could go on forever about this dude, but I think that's enough for now. Writing Paris/Gale fic makes me feel a little silly, unfortunately, but I do want to take a shot a more down the line. I like them a lot haha.

blurry boundaries btwn seasons + air currents + common Clank and Bobble forgetfulness L
the Keeper's ice film about Peri and Tink's Arrival isn't beat for beat, its just a summary
oh god idk if i can tl:dr this one but basically both lord milori and minister of winter can exist i promise
starting off with Tinkerbell, Clank, and Bobble flying through the winter woods b4 settling on Tinker's Nook my /personal/ thought is that 1) the boundaries between seasons are only hard and fast across water, like between winter and autumn in Secret of the Wings, 2) the air right above those borders can have a lot more variation due to changing air currents n stuff, so while is was definitely chilly, it was also bordering spring(evidenced purely by the color of the snowless trees in this horrible screenshot), so with a combo of those they could potentially be okay for a few brief seconds of a fly-by, and 3) Clank and Bobble are not always the thinkers when it comes to Anything Except Tinkering. i could fully accept that they were /not/ supposed to do that and forgot until a bit after.

Periwinkle's existence! dull boring-ass answer: camera didnt care about Periwinkle/wishful thinking that they had some level of meta planning ahead and wanted to keep the idea of more than one a secret. less dull answer: the cinematic reenactment that Peri and Tink saw in the Keeper's work zone wasn't as accurate to real life within the world timing-wise. the Keeper's own personal magic(and by that extension, the natural way in which he and any past and future Keepers are able to manipulate dust) is for the retelling of history. So Peri and Tink were from the same laugh, yeah, but not as back-to-back as it was made to seem in the movie. essentially its like the Keeper has OpenShot Video Editor edition pixie dust powers.
my big finale,,,, the one i actually focus a lot on in my fairy worldbuilding Lord Milori vs the Minister of Winter in the first movie I personally choose to believe that they both exist, but lemme break it down for you beat for beat
PART ONE: THE FUNCTION OF A MINISTER
so we know, based on ofc the first movie, that the ministers are for each season, they oversee the organization and prep for bringing that season to the mainland, and also just keeping it tidy within the Hollow.
so naturally, there should be four ministers, one for each season. now here is where i first start deviating a little from canon. so understandable, the pixie hollow seasons are based on the far northern/southern hemisphere experience of them, because going elsewhere would mean a lot less difference between each season all the way until you hit the equator's dry/wet season split. therefore, spring, summer, and autumn aren't the same level of warm. summer is the warmest season, and Warm fairies who do most of their tasks for that season will be biologically more optimized for that region, same for all the others.
The ministers of Spring and Autumn, for instance, would have a somewhat better resistance to the cold than the minister of Summer, though they are still naturally Warm fairies and eventually would reach a point where their wings would grow to cold and snap. The minister of Winter could technically be neither a Warm or Winter fairy by this metric. Because the ministers do a lot of their work with the Queen, and only oversee the production and take down of their seasons, it's understandable that the winter minister would be a Warm fairy biologically, but since Talent is an innate thing, each and every minister of Winter that Arrives could be of this unique class of fairies that can spend a much longer time in the Winter section of the Hollow, and on the flip side, maybe not do so well in the Summer section of the Hollow.
PART TWO: THE FUNCTION OF LORD MILORI
So we have ministers and we have a Queen. i've established that the minister of Winter could feasibly venture into Winter whenever she needs to to check on how things are going, but what about the long term? This is where Milori comes in, not as a minister, but as a stand-in for Queen Clarion. Since she herself cannot go into Winter for very long, he's essentially her, but for Winter. he may occasionally receive correspondence from her with big news and changes to protocol, but for the most part he operates on his own, since i imagine mail between the seasonal boundary would require rigorous scheduling and couldn't be done just on the fly unless you've acquired a bird, or...
...if you have a minister of Winter.
PART THREE: WORKING TOGETHER
Having both a minister and a lord of winter would make sense, mainly because the role of minister is necessary regardless of seasonal conflicts! in the first movie, when Spring is being brought to the world, it is the minister that accompanies the nature talent fairies, not Clarion. Similarly, it shows the minister of Winter returning with her fairies after the onset of her season.
If Milori were to overwrite the minister entirely, and take over all her duties, it would conflict more with his own lore, because he would have to be able to join in meetings conducted in the Tree on the regular with no issue, which we know he can't do. And on top of that, he would have to travel to the mainland on the regular, which would leave the Winter Woods without a leader for a good chunk of each year, which would not be a good combination in an emergency situation.
PART FOUR: LITERALLY JUST SHARING SOME FUN STUFF I CAME UP WITH
I like to think that things like queens, ministers, and lords comes in rough cycles. Now some of this delves into things that i truly dont have time to get into(regarding mother dove, the age of the Hollow, fairies interactions with humans, the power of flight, how fairies interact with dust) but im gonna try with what i have.
So imagine, for a moment, that Clarion is not the first queen, and on top of that, the Hollow is not the first location on Neverland that fairies have lived. I headcanon Clarion as a "young" queen, but she is still a little over a thousand years old, with a lot more to go.
Ministers and Lords also follow a cycle, with the one of Lord/Ladies of winter being shorter than that of a Queen, but still pretty long(minimum half of a Queen's expected lifespan), and ministers being less than that(minimum a third of a Queen's lifespan). The average fairy lives a while, but not forever, so it is rare for the average joe to see the changing of Queens, lords, and ministers. There can be exceptions, of course, when someone passes away due to outside causes, or if someone is exiled, but those situations are rare, especially now that fairies live in The Hollow.
With the exception of Spring, i headcanon the current ministers as having Arrived in the last few years of the previous Queen's life, and Milori showing up <10 years after Clarion Arrived as queen. Any fairy alive today(with today being late 18whatever the hell in the movies to the 1940s) would not remember this stuff, but its fun to think about!

literally so much has happened in tota jfsdjvnsjafk so here are some of my thoughts bc. So Much. has happened. and i think this is a good moment in gameplay to step back and review things before Even More Stuff Happens and i forget these thoughts. wanted to do this last night but i was too sleepy so 😗
where i am currently... literally just left the house and reached yulia city after lowering the outer lands like wow. the game was reallyyyy hyping up the battle with van to be The Last Battle but like theres no way right..... i didnt know what to expect but a one month timeskippy skip was not one of them so. this will be interesting. but ill babble more abt that later ummmm i think ill pick up from. natalia and her father making up.
that was a really sweet moment.... and Yes i did cry and also OMG the english voice acting in this game is amazing. i think its really cool how neither natalia or luke are the 'true' heirs to the throne although their situations are completelyyy different. though i do kinda feel like it came out of nowhere LOL while i love the story so far i do think it has some weak parts, primarily with its build up.. like the game is very dense with arte mechanics lore + politics and i dont think it does the best job of easing it into the story. theres a lot to take in and even now theres still stuff i dont completely understand like what. is an isofon. and also how come asch can make hyperresonances too Huh i thought only luke could cuz hyperresonances are when two 7th fonons collide and luke being a replica kinda made two 7 fonons in him but apparently no. what. huh. and also another instance i remember is like, as of Now i know that the score is a big deal, but before the legretta boss fight i didnt really get that cuz luke (and by extension me) was too busy learning basic societal conventions and the importance of the score was not one of them. so like yeah. still enjoying the game in spite of this but it could stand to be smoother
moving on um. let me babble abt guy. guy is a wonderfully complex character likeeeee the type of dude i love to rotate in my mind. skilled at hiding their negative feelings which is sooo interesting in conjunction with the time hes spent w luke and the fabres, bc he has a very valid reason to hate them, BUT he also genuinely cares for luke. probably. like its spelled out by the game that luke deliberately chooses to trust guy despite him having every reason to betray him and that is just SOOOO compelling and interesting like wow. and its also incrediblyyy compelling that guy is able to deeply sympathize with our main antagonist van bc they are both survivors of hod and its just like.... yeah very fascinating dude.
also interestingly enough i think tear's character narrative is the weakest to me despite being a character we've been around the longest? like shes similar to guy in that they both have close relations to the main antagonist, but guy had actually experienced the same thing that van had experienced, while tear had only heard abt it second hand. shes got her loss of faith in mohs / the score / the order going for her + her miasma sickness, but the story hadnt really touched on that tht much. with that said tho, i hold faith that the rest of the story will adequately flesh out the rest of her character, bc theyre gonna have to resolve her miasma sickness at some point and i think that's when she'll get her proper arc, along with asch's and van's characters which are also currently unresolved.
also my currently favorite moment of hers is from one of her training flashbacks with legretta, where in the present day she knocked out a monster that was about to attack luke, and in the flashback legretta killed a knight that attempted to attack tear. and legretta was telling her um... fuck i didnt take a picture so i cant precisely remember X( but it was something about the value of life, and showing enemies no mercy. but tear defied her and moved on from her teachings bc she chose to heal the monster bc it had children nearby. and that was a very sweet moment to me :') im looking forward to having more tear in the storyyyy
also speaking of legretta. jesus christ the sheridan massacre was crazy... and unexpected too. the antagonists are really crazy huh. like obvs they make a point abt freeing one self's from the score / "fate" but also like... the War Crimes.... idk ill have to see where the story is taking this but how it stands right now its like... compelling but also kinda weird because the question tota poses is... kinda theoretical?? but also not?? cuz a lot of whats being questioned is abt the score, which we, real world people, Do Not have a modern world equivalent for.. but its also not completely abt the score and is kinda like saying, "Is it ok to hurt others if it's believed prosperity will be achieved from it?" which is also kinda like saying "Is there any justifiable reason to destroy others?" and also when you throw replicas in there its like "For what reason are you alive for? If the reason for your life is already dictated, must you follow it?" something like that...... also im curious abt how the game will frame the church in the end bc like... ya mohs and the oracle knight are portrayed negatively, but our homie ion is shown positively like... its surprisinglyy nuanced but i wonder if it will steer around w that at the end. especially considering the numerous mentions of the church subsisting from donations which well... Can Be Problematic, to say the least.
speaking of the problematic church.... aniseeeeeee 🥺 at first i wasnt very interested in her character bc a young boy-crazy girl is a trope that im kinda sooooo over with.. but then it turned out that omg? anise isnt that at all but is actually a gold digger LMAO that is awesome?! and its very compelling how her reasoning for being one is very sympathetic, with how her parents are poor followers of the church and anise is trying to attain a better life for both them and herself. and the way we learn that shes not really boy crazy is really cool too with how she does a 180 and becomes completely (and justifiably) nasty to luke after akzeriuth, i think her meanness and brattiness is sooo awesome. but shes also very kindhearted like the.. oh....

this made me very teary eyed like T_T oh..... to see the first time we ever see anise crying is over someone who she probably used to be friends with.. and also how shes also been shown being sympathetic to dist, jade's former kinda maybe friend.. she is a very great character and not at all what i thought she'd be like initially, which im very thankful for.
also i fucking love her dynamic with jade it is SOOO awesome AND funny af cuz like, when u see these two you might expect a fucking, endearing older man looking after a younger child dynamic. but thats not what u get with these two at all, they are two very capable soldiers and jade is shown to rely on and trust anise and vice versa, and also jade is a very haughty and somewhat mean-spirited person, and anise can match with that perfectly. like when jade was being a well meaning douche casting suspicion on guy, which led to luke restating his decision to trust in guy, anise followed up with teasing jade like 'awww youre going soft on them teehee XD'. and also like this convo is so awesome

and JADEEE like omg he is also a really cool character because like. during that moment where his sister speaks alone with luke to warn him 'hey my brother is Fucking Crazy and you are a Science Experiment so Watch out' i laffed bc it kinda felt like it came out of nowhere to me, but as the game progressed and jade's genius became more evident + when he admits this

thats when it really clicked to me that ohh..... jade is kinda Apathetic Af. and yet i find it very VERY cool that despite lacking empathy for others, jade is portrayed rather positively. like yes he's made unfathomable mistakes and has hurt others and yes he lacks basic empathy But he still cares about others enough to help everyone to save the world and he cares abt the party members in his own weird way like i think this is the first time ive seen a character that lacks empathy being portrayed positively like this and i think thats really really awesome.

Alcyo
Element: mist (has also been referred to as vapor, fog, clouds, steam, etc) which i made the fuck up <3
Alcyo has far from reached his true potential with his powers, and honestly he doesn’t intend to. I’ve thought extensively about all the things one could do with this power, but the limited extent of Alcyo’s abilities only include poofing into a mist cloud (like how Cinder can turn into smoke) and moving existing fog or mist around, if he concentrates.
He would go get more training with it but… he’s no warrior or ninja or anything, and has no desire to become one. Plus his training buddy is… presumed dead. So he doesn’t see too much of a point in honing his power anymore. Thus, his skills are pretty weak.
As for what source dragon mist is passed down from… Motion, i suppose. I imagine it came about as a sort of anomalous combo of wind and water. As in, at some point in history, an EM of water and an EM of wind had a child, and instead of their child inheriting one of their powers, they could manipulate mist. Clouds. Airborne water. Whatever you want to call it. By all accounts it wasn’t supposed to happen, but fate and magic are weird like that sometimes. Anyway, since water (and i assume wind as well) fall under Motion, I don’t see why mist wouldn’t.
This also means that the FSM never wielded it, as it came from the only two elements he Didn’t have control over.
Used to its full potential, mist may not be the most ‘powerful’ per se, but there are plenty of very creative ways one could use it…

Two-Worlds
Element: water. Currently. At the same time as Nya. …i can explain.
Bear with me here, as the loredump below is fully relavent context to that.
Two is.. technically a very old oc. I watched like two episodes of s3 when I was 9, made Two-Worlds on a whim, barely developed her, and then never watched ninjago again (nor did I do anything with Two again) until March of this year. At the time I first thought her up, Nya’s power reveal hadn’t happened yet, and I’d wanted to give Two an element that wasn’t in the show.
She was also a big… dog..leopard..cat..hybrid… thing? That was 2 stories tall for some reason? I dunno. I was 9. But as of now, she’s had a design and lore overhaul. She’s still huge, just more… elephant-big rather than house-big. She’s also not a dog cat thing anymore, she’s now a nonspecific Amphicyonid. Which is, in my opinion, the closest thing you’re gonna get to a dog cat thing irl. Confusingly, they look more like bears to me than they do like canines or felines. But oh well.
But. Again. I’m going somewhere with this, trust me. I wanted a reason to keep some of her size, and a reason to keep her water powers. So a friend of mine offered a solution in the form of their fan-realm Creatura, which is home to (unusually) large, strangely colored, sapient versions of animals from other realms. Because of dimensional shenanigans, lore that hasn’t been updated since MotM, and the fact that we’re just having fun here, there is a Creaturan EM for each element that is currently held by any non-Creaturan (from Any other realm).
Anyway. With all that mess outta the way, Two-Worlds is the Creaturan master of water.
As of her lore overhaul, I have it so she discovered her power shortly post-s6, and trained under Nya and Wu. She can do just about anything Nya can with her powers, and I’d like to think her fighting style is similar to/modeled after Nya’s. …As similar as Two could get it, considering the two have completely different sizes and body plans.
Two can also use her powers to walk on the surface of water because come on. U can’t tell me a master of water has never manipulated the water to hold them up and let them jesus-walk.
As for the other questions: water’s from Motion, FSM didn’t wield it, it’s pretty damn powerful if you ask me, and Two-Worlds is quite powerful herself. She is physically strong, uses her size to her advantage, has a very good handle on her powers.
Or… she did. Mysteriously, she hasn’t been able to use her powers since the merge :).

What is glitch the rats' backstory
i wanted glitch to be really unneccisarily fleshed out with at least 1 really stupid piece of lore so this is mostly normal but Beware. oh and this is very long.
glitch was born the oldest of 12 (though, one of the younger siblings is my sonicsona, so when i turn 17, ig they'll be retconned as second oldest) in spring yard zone. their parents were lefties and were always in and out of debt from buying extensions on the house - after all, you'd need a few if you had 12 kids. due to the sheer rate at which rats have kids, they barely know their family outside of their household, but maybe they know a few cousins or something.
it doesn't know how far back in the lineage it goes, but their parents are good with technology and taught all their kids to be quite tech-literate from a young age. they use different methods for each kid seeing as computers started developing rapidly and for glitch that was with handheld gaming consoles, hence their special interest. also, it was given a laptop for its 7th birthday it still uses and carries everywhere.
when they were 12, spring yard zone was attacked, only to be saved by a mysterious blue speedster. desperate to find more, they did as much research as possible, even setting up a website to try to find more. syz is the third zone in sonic 1, so shockingly, there wasn't much information. over time, however, sonic became a public figure and, having found more info, its obsession wained.
then, when they were 16, they decided to start travelling. on their travels, they reached hedgehog village, where they finally met sonic and his friend, sticks. obviously sticks didnt get on with them immediately, but eventually they warmed up to each other and glitch even moved in.
obviously ive not had the greatest track record with motivation recently but i DO have plans to make a comic with them and sticks at some point in the future :)

we've got Perseus, Orion, and Hercules in your world. is there an Andromeda constellation in there as well?
Yep! Unfortunately this is one that I haven't been able to make a concrete decision on though ^^' As of now, Andromeda (and by extension Cassiopeia and Cepheus) only feature in side stories that I have rough ideas for, so I haven't focused on developing their characters much lately in lieu of working on the main story draft instead.
In a scene where Perseus meets Cassie, upon hearing her name he assumes she means Cassiopeia, and frantically moves to bow to her before he even gets a good enough look at her, asking if her daughter is safe. And in the current draft of the main story, this reference to Cassiopeia appears whenever another constellation has mild confusion about the names, since of course our Cassie looks nothing like an ancient Ethiopian queen.
And if you're wondering, no I actually didn't intentionally name Cassie after her for the star themeing, that was a complete yet funny coincidence! I plan on using it for thematic purposes for Cassie's sense of identity, and the expectations that come with not only her eye, but everything else about her too.
For whatever reason, I've had trouble nailing down the direction I want to take for Andromeda and her family, though I think it's because I haven't fully committed to the dynamic I want her to have with Perseus, inspired by their mythology together of course. It's nothing concrete like I said, but I can give you the current idea I'm toying with at least.
If I recall correctly, there's a version of their mythology where Perseus turns Cassiopeia and Cepheus to stone with Medusa's head, accidentally or otherwise. I'm thinking I could use that as a jumping off point with the lore I've constructed thus far, where Andromeda is out for revenge against the monsters that plagued her family, including Cetus as well. Perhaps Cassiopeia and Cepheus have been turned to stone by Perseus (via Hercules's magic overtaking him) and thus Percy is one of Andromeda's targets in order to avenge them or turn them back to normal, if at all possible.
I can see them being enemies at first, but Percy's desire for redemption would likely make it pretty one-sided, and they could reach a mutual agreement to team up and take down Hercules together. I'll have to figure out where in Percy's character arc this would take place, but I think it could work as a moment where his past catches up to him and he has to face the consequences.
If I were to describe my (albeit vague) impression of her personality in my head, I'd say Andromeda is the type of person whose true nature takes a while to show through due to her current circumstances, or it only comes out in choice moments that are independent of her quest to avenge her family. I think if given the opportunity, she'd be relatively chill and personable otherwise, but her goals required her to be more "hardened" in order to wield a sword or any other kind of weapon in the first place. I think she'd have to fight her reluctance towards conflict a lot too. I wouldn't say her need for revenge has consumed her necessarily, but she's someone who was dealt a bad hand in her young life and has to make the most of it regardless, all while yearning for something without such heavy responsibility.

Hi there! I was reading your Burn Like Cold Iron fic and so far it’s AMAZING!!!! 😁✨ I was wondering if you could tell me, if you’re able, how you were able to figure out your story with the language difference with Beatrice and her only speaking English and being in Middle Earth where they speak literally like, everything else? (I’ve only gotten up to chapter 4 so far.)
I know you were able to use Saruman’s mind using his translation method thingy XD Which was so seamless and cool! I’m wondering what was your process for figuring it out? Did you look into lore or anything? Rn, I’m writing smth with a similar plot of someone modern being thrown into Middle Earth (miraculously, I ran into your fic, which has helped me a ton!) but they’re thrown into Mirkwood instead. I’m stumped on how can I believably have my character communicate with elves? Any ideas, suggestions or somewhere you could point me?
I’d appreciate it a ton and sorry if this question is convoluted!

Oh my gosh thank you so much! I'm so glad you like the fic so far and I'm flattered you reached out to me about yours.
I definitely took the easy way out with the language gap! I wasn't personally very interested in writing extensive translation/language learning scenes, so if I hadn't run into the convenient wizard-needs-her-to-speak-Westron-asap loophole, I probably wouldn't have distinguished them at all.
(Slight spoilers but not really) I did consider later on in my fic that maybe once Saruman loses his powers and Gandalf takes his staff, maybe Bee would lose her innate ability to understand Westron- but again, I didn't really want to go there in my fic, I'm lazy, so that plot twist never came to be.
I can try to offer some advice for how to go about it in your fic- and I know there are people who follow me who read modern-OC-in-middle-earth fics, so if any of y'all read through this enormous answer and have anything to add, please do!
The main ways I've seen authors go about it are
You can have some magical explanation hand-wave it away (what I did). For instance, I've seen authors have the Valar grant the OC language skills to translate between their native language and Westron as they hop over to Middle Earth. Maybe they have a magical amulet or something. Go crazy XD
You can have your character learn Westron from scratch- it's an entirely new Tolkien-approved language and your poor OC knows none of it. Of course that's super time consuming and can slow down a lot of other aspects of your plot (your OC can't rush off to go adventuring or fall in love when they can't communicate with anyone!). But if it's done right, you can develop characters, worldbuilding, and relationships in those scenes. I vaguely remember the fic Home with the Fairies doing this really well.
You can just ignore that Tolkien wrote Westron/Common to be different from English, and just have them be interchangeable. Frankly I like this just fine, I know a lot of other readers who do too- and what Tolkien doesn't know won't hurt him ;) I doubt you'd get any complaints about it from readers (and if you do, you can tell them ol' scylla wants to speak to em)
Since your OC will be interacting with elves, that adds a whole second language into the mix, which is a LOT to deal with. So I'd lean toward option 3, so your OC can at least speak to any of the elves who know Westron (Thranduil and Legolas definitely do, and I'm guessing a lot of other well-educated elves or anyone who has to travel, trade, or go near their borders do too).
So at that point you could have your OC learn elvish at a more comfortable pace, and the plot doesn't have to be on hold while they learn.
If not a lot of the Mirkwood elves your OC meets know Westron or speak it very well, maybe there are resources in Thranduil's library that could help them (you just know he's got a fancy library in those caves). Or maybe an elf your OC befriended could take them to speak to other characters who do know more Westron, like prisoners in the dungeons, border guards, tradesmen in Dale, etc. You could get some good plot development out of that, depending on where you want your fic to go and who you want your OC to interact with.
And of course the way they teach your OC elvish can also help drive the plot forward- I've read tons of fics that have the love interest confess their love knowing that the OC won't understand, or translate a romantic song or tragic poem and oh there's so many parallels between us and the song, isn't it sad?? Maybe the language gap could be used to keep or learn secrets, or give your OC a leg up in Mirkwood society since they'll be able to communicate better with the men of Dale than a lot of the elves can.
Sorry this answer is so long and rambly, but I hope it helps a bit! You'll have to tag me when you start posting your fic so I can read it!!
Omg I just remembered as I was about to hit send that canonically, the spiders in Mirkwood do in fact speak Westron, so if all else fails, your OC can talk with them XD (I'd read the hell out of that fic)

There's like, two candle asks, so I'm just gonna answer the first one I saw.
Moonrise is definitely a hard fic to write. I reached for the stars and got burned I can't believe this. I gotta handle so many characters and such complex lore moments combined with the fact that the story just kept GROWING and growing and man. I love it but it's definitely a struggle hahshehehe
I'm pretty sure I only started writing because I had ideas and wanted to share them!
Writing was the way I had to weave all my 2949295884 ideas into something that's almost kinda cohesive, hehahe. It allowed me to see how far that idea could go, and it let me connect to people in a way I didn't think was gonna happen! I mean, heck, I met Portal through a comment thread that she started because she left a super cool comment on Moonrise, and now I consider her my best friend. It's wild. My writing kickstarted this chain of events. Insane.
JOY and LAUGHTER but yes I also get anxiety and utter embarassment and mortification because I post something and in the very next day I go "my god that is so cringe" and at this point I might as well just accept the cringe and make it a part of the story, if only so I can say I did the cringe™ on purpose lmao. My stuff is usually chaotic, unecessarily complicated, like an extensive sandbox that's ever-growing and ever-changing. It's awesome but it's also terrifying to share, especially because I'm aware of the things I fail at (I have such a frail grasp on all of my characters, even though I try and try to see them at their fully 3d/faceted selves... alas. With practice, in due time, maybe it'll get better!)

→ Study 𝐗𝐕𝐈𝐈𝐈: Opposing sentient forces of death and life —Abyss and Irminsul—. The Sinner, Caribert and the Loom of Fate at fate's end.
The recent Caribert AQ offered us a new —albeit expected if joining the scattered pieces of old and new lore alike— view about what the Abyss exactly is, represents and the way it affects other beings in more detail now that we were introduced for the first time to a sentient entity of the Abyss, albeit lacking a physical form. Before anything, let's have a brief reminder of what its energy supposed from the very beginning up to this point:
1) it can warp the perception of those affected by it (see Dvalin as an example)— this point will be touched briefly. 2) it can drive escapee gods from the rule of the Seven to madness in the Dark Sea. 3) it consumes everything that contains the seven elements. 4) it’s the potential reason of why some humans become Abyss Mages / Lectors / Heralds / Husks / Black Serpent Knights. 5) it makes people ill to the point of reaching death if left unchecked and in a similar vein to the escapee gods, it can drive them to madness. 6) it’s the source of energy that Khaenri’ah has been using to power the ruin machines up.
Sumeru's additions under the name of Marana confirm some of these and dive deeper in details about these, as per the Aranara's wisdom:
1) Marana urges everything towards death. The realization that all things meet their end makes the Marana fester further to the point that it becomes part of the memories. Said memories go as far as to engrave themselves in the Ley Lines, and into Irminsul by extension.
2) The essence of memories is one of the things that can defeat Marana, but at the same time Marana not only can make others forget. It enters the consciousness and dreams too. Furthermore, this contributes to the Black Serpent Knights and Husks’ loss of intelligence and memories as an independent element to the curse.
3) Ruin Machines are powered by Marana and it’s said that Abyss Wolves and Marana are one and the same. They are not natural. They do not belong to the cycle of heaven or earth.
And lastly but not least, the origin of this poisonous energy as told by Nabu Malikata (Goddess of Flowers, initially a dweller of the kingdom of the sky before the Second Who Came arrived):
But, in time, invaders descended from beyond the firmament, bringing with them destruction, overturning rivers, spreading plagues… And though the invaders brought war to my former kin, they also brought about illusions that could break through shackles to the land. But the master of the heavens, consumed by fear for the rising tide of delusion and breakthroughs, sent down the divine nails to mend the land, laying waste to the mortal realm… We then suffered the torment of exile. Stripped was our connection to heaven, to our powers of enlightenment…
All of this information is a lead towards how destructive what we know as Abyss can be and how nothing good can ever come from it, however, this AQ showed us a side never seen before that could come across even as miraculous, which is in being able to change fate of two individuals thus far: Caribert first and then Clothar. However, can we truly talk about a miracle when it seems that this change of fate doesn't come without a price? Is it truly the "Abyss" able of change fate, or is it the sentience of a still mysterious identity merged with the Abyss that is able to change the course of someone's fate?

In this description of the Caribert AQ, there is a count of 4 groups of people / individuals that it's referring to: Those who would oppose fate (Khaenri'ahns), the one who understands fate (the Sinner) [in Chinese, 'the one who understands fate' appears in an earlier appearance translated in English as 'a self-proclaimed prophet' also— as for what he says, it's the official announcement of Dainsleif which suggests that Dain not only may have suspicions of whose identity this is, but that he must've heard the Sinner's voice too], the one who weaves fate (Caribert) and lastly, the one who witnesses fate (Traveler). Looking in retrospective, it makes sense that Clothar refers to his son as the "Loom of Fate" if he's the one who was made to weave fate. As the title suggests, loom of fate is a tool to weave threads of fate and this is a topic that has been addressed before in the Travail trailer:
Your journey has reached its end, but one final doorway remains. Step forth, if you have understood the meaning of your journey. Defeat me, command me to step aside, show me that you are worthier than I to rescue her. Then, the threads of all fate shall be yours to re-weave.
Interestingly, the talk about this door is also teased in one of the Abyss Lector: Violet Lightning's defeat quotes: The door... is... opened unto you...
As the sentience of the Abyss is stated to have an understanding of fate and even be capable of changing it via means yet to be disclosed, there is one more individual that is said to have knowledge of fate itself: Dain.
Judging by the way Clothar didn't wish his son to live a miserable life were he regain his mind again, it's crystal clear that his wish to make him have clarity of mind came with the price of making out of him the Loom of Fate, alongside the loss of sanity that Caribert himself began to experience as his change of voice suggests— which eventually would lead to this complete madness in 100 years. Though his wish had a side effect, this seemed to be a desirable one (be it due to his madness or because it is genuine it's up to debate) as it's the potential reason why it led to his desirable death also and the continuation of his legacy up to this day with Kaeya.
But the truth is that this isn't the first time that the Sinner's voice makes itself manifest, be it in a chronological way or not. A similar pattern if not the same can be noticed in the Black Sword description:

And like other hilichurls and Clothar bowed to the Sinner, so, the Bloodstained Knight who descended to Khaenri'ah to kill the monsters that spawned from there pledged his loyalty to who seems to be the Sinner as well as per the Bloodstained Chivalry set:

In a similar manner as Clothar's wish in regards of Caribert and how he would even give his life for his son to regain clarity of mind if he was allowed, the Bloodstained Knight had his wish potentially at the price of his willing loyalty to the Abyss upon finding out about the truth of the curse of wilderness in Khaenri'ah.
To jump to the next point about the Abyss, looking into what happened to Dvalin and other details like Childe or even other fallen gods inside or outside the Seven's domain, it was safe to assume that the Abyss heightened one's negative traits or emotions by magnifying them in such way that it's hard to escape from the Abyss' grasp. This quest shed more light in the alluring way that the Abyss has to attract creatures in, to make them feel better or even give them a sense of release somehow. Looking into this, Enjou's quote about how the Abyss is "intoxicating" makes all the more sense, as feeling better in a moment that one isn't at their best could be perfectly a feeling that one would want to seek and repeat. It's all the more interesting to see how easily someone can fall into the abyssal corruption like this and how it would take a very strong will to not give in to those urges (Dain, I'm looking at you, sir).
To conclude the matter of the Abyss, I wanted to point out the dichotomy of death vs life that is evident through the Abyss' existence but also Irminsul's and how one parallels the other in the sense that both have a sentience and a voice. In the Abyss' case through the undisclosed individual (I'll touch this later briefly) that claims to be a Sinner, and Irminsul. But not through Rhukkadevata or Nahida as per their connections to the tree nor the fact that Rhukkadevata was Irminsul's avatar, but as Irminsul with its own voice and sentience as per the Frostbearer:

And just like the Abyss has its form of "blessing", so does Irminsul in giving life not only to the whole world by spreading what it needs to be sustained, but also to select individuals as per the Doors of Resurrection mechanic:

In regards of the Sinner, there is not much more to say that I already didn't besides a small hypothesis of his identity as King Irmin based on the similarities between that warmth the Sinner seemed to exude while he had that feeling that something is wrong with him as King Irmin seemed to have according to the statuettes. Moreover, according to one of the writings that Kaeya had saved in secret of his father, Khaenri'ah wasn't in the best shape at least during King Irmin's final moments on the throne:
Remember always that it was the Alberich clan, who did not have royal blood, who stepped in as regents when the strength of the one-eyed king Irmin failed. Though we could not restore Khaenri'ah to life, we of the Alberich Clan should lead lives as those who blaze life fire, rather than those who wallow in the embers.
The last thing I want to mention is how interesting it is the prospect that strong abyssal creatures like the Abyss Herald: Frost Fall, Fortune Lector already existed before the foundation of the Abyss Order. Which suggests that there were more creatures as part of the Abyss (not the Abyss Order yet, although we do see the Hydro Herald Dain defeated, Enjou and other Lectors as part of the Abyss Order) and that they were at the Sinner's command. Perhaps they were humans before during King Irmin's reign and he had a small group of people that later on would follow after his steps.

Godric shook his head. "And still ever the one to take insult too quickly." He clicked his tongue. "I never said you lacked finesse. Merlin's beard your hand flicks put some of the women's to shame." And it was something of a compliment. Far be it for him to praise the other too much. Neither needed much by the way of more compliments inflating their egos.
Godric nodded in understanding though that hardly stopped the smirk from forming about his features. He sympathized with Sal --- truly he did, but he also knew some of this was merely Sal's unwillingness to accept the idea of being wrong about magic for once. Magic was older than time itself. Long before any of the founders came along, magic was likely hidden within all of nature waiting to be cultivated.
Many witches and warlocks learned to draw from that very nature and wield power in the palm of their hands while some found the knowledge to harness that raw power within a single, ordinary ( at the time ) stick. Those who were out in the open with their heresy were burned at the stake while others folded into the shadows practicing in secret. Not until decisions were made and precautions taken that they were able to come out into the open --- among their own kind of course --- and be the wizards they were born to be. There were still many restrictions, particularly as it pertained to practicing magic in front of Muggles. But all in all, they were much better off than they were centuries ago and it allowed them to thrive, even if in secret.
"You know, I do not pretend to understand all of the wand lore. The man could be right or he could be wrong in your case. However, I feel the need to point out that the rest of us have had no trouble pushing our wands to limits. None of ours have splintered thus far." He paused. "I have a theory, brother… about your problem."
On that note, Godric quickly stood, his tea being forgotten for the time being as his wand produced itself again. "The man said to think of the wand as an extension of ourselves." Godric extended his arm and by doing so, the wand itself. "If we think of the object as apart of us, the magic flows quite freely. You brother, have yet to embrace the idea of using a wand let alone seeing it as a part of you or your equal. Until you embrace it, you'll probably keep breaking them because your very nature is in direct conflict with the object."
Godric gave the wand a little wave producing a small bouquet of flowers. He'd give those to Helga later as a peace offering but for now, he plopped back down into his seat, reaching for his tea. He knew words had probably fallen on deaf ears, but he felt the need to speak up all the same. He wasn't the type of person to insist that he was right all the time, but in the case of this wand lore stuff, he had a feeling it truly ran as deep as the man claimed. Magic had been around long before himself and Salazar which meant they couldn't possibly know ALL of its secrets. It would take lifetimes to learn everything there is to know about magic and so he was certain the Ollivander family's words held some truth to them.

As for our other disagreements…" And he let his thought end there because he did not come here for a rehash over the morning's venture. It would have been all too easy to let himself get swept away in another passionate defense of Muggles, but no. Not now. This was about Sal missing dinner. Not what Hogwarts needed or didn't need for the billionth time.
There was a growing silence between them and on that note, he let himself sip his tea in thought. Things were changing between himself and the other founders, particularly where it concerned the man seated across from him. For the most part, everyone agreed that the school was necessary so children could learn magic from proper wizards ( themselves of course ). However, the longer they ventured on this journey, the more Godric realized differences between them ideally could fracture the very foundation they built in the worst way. He didn't want it to. Only he himself knew just how much this venture meant to him, but… he couldn't change the others and their thinking. Salazar's indifference as of late was not something new --- a point he often made to the other founders.
However, they seemed to think that his indifference was borderline out of line these days and often stressed to Godric that it needed to be capped. Whenever he refused to address certain issues, they often looked at it as Godric refusing to see what was right in front of him. Rowena could 'read the tea leaves' so to speak and often challenged Godric on his friendship with Salazar. 'Men see what they want to see until it is too late…' Ominous words coming from the Lady of Ravenclaw, but he chose to ignore them. He was not giving up on Salazar --- not yet, if ever. There was plenty of time for him to see just how wrong he was about Muggles ( among other things ). Was it a slim chance? Well, sure, but Godric was choosing to see the glass half full for now.
"I'm sure Helga would like that very much. At the very least, it'll keep her from sending me to chastise you. Let's just keep them happy, aye? Work's always more fun when they aren't side eyeing us all day."
He went back to sipping his tea but Sal's slight change in demeanor did not go unnoticed. The tapping of fingers against the arm's rest had the wheels turning in Godric's head. Was…something wrong? Well, more than usual. Something was always wrong these days given their disagreements, but it seemed something else was on Sal's mind. Godric thought to inquire, but Sal did him the kindness of speaking up first.
Tea now finished, Godric straightened his casual posture, giving Sal his undivided attention. An owl huh? Contents brought to the founders often ranged from the most high of praises to conspiracies about what was really happening behind those highly protected walls. Some people even believed they were preparing to take over the wizarding world. As preposterous as it had initially sounded, Rowena pointed out that it wasn't every century that four elite wizards used their power for humble means as opposed to something terrible. Perhaps people's fears were warranted but they couldn't have been more wrong.
Nevertheless, Godric waited as Sal finally volunteered the information pertaining to the owl. He wasn't going to scold Sal for keeping it to himself although the other two might very well had. However, Godric firmly believed that he had no reason to distrust Sal and so such a lie was easy to brush off. But what he thought was merely another letter criticizing their efforts turned out to be something much more meaningful. That is to say, it was exactly what he had thought but the source of the content hit home a bit different, especially for Salazar.
"My brother, you must know not to believe a word of it," he frowned. "What better way to use our talents than influencing young minds for the future? I just… do not understand why he does not see what the world sees. You are… an incredible wizard, Salazar. He may not wish to acknowledge your strength, but it is too late for the world. They already know of your greatness."
He nodded. "Take all the time you need, Salazar. I will make certain you are given the leniency and privacy deserved and speaking of… should I take my leave now? I do apologize for… allowing myself to be persuaded into jumping to conclusions. We all tend to forget that before we were headmasters, we had real lives outside of it first. And families."

I've been thinking a lot about recording my train of thought in some way - it's just been rattling around in my brain for years now, like an itch I wanna scratch but don't know exactly how to reach. So, I guess I'll just try here.
I've been developing a fun passion project in my free time for about two years now. It's a text adventure remake/demake of the original Fallout, and I've (rather vainly) called it Manhattan's Fallout or ManFall for short. Now when I say two years, and *free time*, let me be clear - I have very low work ethic, and dragging myself out of my funk and into the work seat has been a constant and never ending process. If I had actually put myself to the test, set a detailed schedule and followed it, held myself accountable and such, I would likely already be done with it. But that's neither here nor there.
The game started as a completely faithful recreation of the original Fallout, but as you can probably guess, that didn't exactly mesh well in a text-based format. The first Fallouts are largely point and click RPGs, which is somewhat difficult in a medium where visuals aren't the primary form of storytelling and gameplay.
As a result, there have always been compromises between nostalgia and fun along with new ideas that I've brought up to make sense of it all. I always tried to keep myself within the bounds of the lore, never straying farther than I felt I could get away with in the public conscious. But last month, February of 2023, something just...snapped. I decided to jump full force into straight remaking the game, taking the coat of paint and the themes and pivoting to a complete text adventure reimagining of a game from the 90s. And I'll explain everything I've changed so far.
Firstly, the year that the game takes place in. Eighty years after the Great War always felt really strange for the first Fallout - not soon enough after the bombs to be recent, but not long enough since them to be a whole new world. It was the grandfather era, where your grandparents likely saw the world end but you yourself don't know of it for better or worse.
For the simple desire to include more plotlines focused on the old world, and to allow for a much harsher post-apocalypse in general, I decided to shave off 50 years and set the game in 2107: thirty years after the bombs fell. It's recent enough that most people have parents who survived it or saw it happen themselves, the weather can be harsher and more extreme, society can be more cobbled together and selfish, and the old world is still fresh in the minds of civilization so the loss feels more real and tangible. For this game to work, it needs to feel like an entire age of human history has come to an explosive close, like we held it in the palm of our hands and now it's nothing but ashes and ruins. If it feels like a fairy tale told to children rather than an event that ruined humankind forevermore, then I have failed.
Second, I've made the choice to move away from an open-world exploration model in lieu of a hub-based system. Open worlds are everywhere nowadays, some good and some bad, with Fallout being one of the poster children of this setup. But for me, a solo developer that is hand-crafting a game played entirely through dialogue and prose, the ability to travel to any settlement at any time in the game would only lead to each settlement feeling bland after a while. I can't feasibly have enough interactivity for a player to find new and unique content no matter what order they play each location in, and I won't break myself in two trying to achieve that.
By segmenting the game into hubs, or more accurately into *chapters*, I can include a handful of two to three locations per chapter (maybe just one if it's big enough) and build upon player choices each chapter without having to account for extensive backtracking. It saves me time, allows for more detailed story structure as I'm not factoring in player retreads, and allows the game to feel much more like an actual interactive novel.
Thirdly, I'm changing up some of the plot points in the game. They aren't huge plot points that alter the story itself, but rather replacing one character in the endgame with another character who you meet much earlier (you'll know it when it happens) and adding a twist into the Necropolis portion of the game. I believe these two changes, though they aren't the only ones, will better tie the Water Chip plot and the Super Mutant plot together in ways that the original game didn't.
There is only one more big change that I can give info on right now, and that's because it's something that might confuse players if I don't handle it correctly and I just wanna explain this off the bat: The Hub and Junktown have been conceptually merged, meaning I took pieces of both (characters, stories, ideas, etcetera) and pieced them together in a way that I believe strengthens the whole. It takes the more boring parts of both locations and paints over them with the better implementations of those aspects from each other. Gizmo is still a casino boss, Killian is still the city's sheriff and mayor, and Decker has been better integrated into the caravan lifestyle in a way that I think makes working with the caravans a lot more of a gray area.
There are other things I've been thinking about doing, but those are the most set in stone big changes since I decided to pivot recently. I'll keep you posted, thanks for reading 👍

4 Lords Raise Rose AU Ideas
Not a single person asked for this, but that other post where I talk about the 4 lords adopting Rose but still technically being terrible people got way more popular than I expected it to, so, with about 6 shots of tequila in my system and a terrible urge to spit my thoughts out for all the internet to see and judge, I’ve decided to make a follow up post. Here’s how I think the 4 lords would take care of Rose in the event they rebelled against Mother Miranda and decided to raise Rose as their own instead, but like under the cut after a little bit cuz i accidentally went way too fucking hard with this and I don’t want ppl to get mad at me for making them scroll for an hour to get past this post:
First and foremost, I think they’d do it in stages, and what I mean by this is that Rose would essentially be given to a specific Lord for some period of her life, like a couple years, and then when she was deemed old or strong or annoying enough, she’d be moved to a different lord for some period of time and so on and so forth. They would do this because a) they all live in different areas and have shit to do so it’s easier to have Rose live with one lord at a time and then the other lords can just go visit her there from time to time, rather than try to work out a weekly custody schedule which we all know Alcina and Karl would NEVER be able to agree on so let’s not even bother, and b) because each lord would have either some skill or set of knowledge that would make them the best for caring for Rose at that specific point in her life. This way, all the lords have a (somewhat) equal chance to be a part of Rose’s life and teach her something while she’s with them. So with all that in mind now, let’s get down to who would have Rose and at what point in her life.
1. Starting off with infant Rose, I think she’d end up with the Dimitrescu’s for the first few years of her life, and the reason why I think this is because... well, Alcina IS already a mother to 3 girls, and while we don’t know a terrible amount about Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela’s “upbringing” under Alcina, we can gleam and theorize from her notes that, despite their fully grown bodies, the girls could very well have started out with the mental and physical capabilities of infants, and thus needed to be cared for and brought up in a similar manner as infants or children until they reached a certain point where they could officially be considered adults in mentality and ability, not just in physical appearance. So with this in mind, it’s entirely possible that Alcina could have at least some vague idea of how to care for an infant child through her experiences with the bug sisters; perhaps there’s some gaps in her knowledge, but if nothing else I imagine Alcina would be an infant Rose’s best shot at surviving infancy if only because the other 3 are so incompetent on how to care for a baby that Alcina looks like an expert in comparison. Not to mention that, of the possible locations for an infant to be raised, I do genuinely think that castle Dimitrescu would be the safest place for Rose to be kept during this vulnerable part of her life. Not only that but if Alcina has actually come to care for Rose as though she were one of her own daughters, then she would absolutely spoil Rose rotten with all the nicest clothes and fanciest toys, things that a small infant wouldnt be able to appreciate but would show that she’s loved and cared for nonetheless, and don’t even get me started on the bug sisters, I could see them fawning over Rose for hours on end, playing with her, singing to her, telling her stories of all the man-things they’ve gotten to play with today, and so much more. Overall, Rose would just be the most spoiled and pampered little baby with the Dimitrescus and there’s no changing my mind about this. The only thing I’m struggling to wrap my head around is how they’d feed her, since I doubt a small infant would take very well to blood wine and human flesh. I suppose it wouldn’t be terribly outrageous for them to hire a wet nurse/nanny to care for Rose during the day while the other Dimitrescus go about their daily duties, and when Rose is finally old enough to be introduced to solid food (I.e. fried human flesh cubes) they could do what they always do and turn the nurse into wine too, I guess. It’s not a solid idea but it’s more plausible than anything else I thought of so it’ll work!
2. After spending about 3 years with the Dimitrescus, Rose would then be moved to the Beneviento house. Now, If u don’t know anything about 3 year olds, then you’re probably ignorant to the fact that they are some of the craftiest, sneakiest, and most coniving groups of people to exist on this planet. 3 year olds are masters at getting into and touching just about anything and everything u don’t want them to touch, and worst of all, u won’t realize what they’re doing until they’ve already done it and left a huge mess behind, so while the Dimitrescus love and adore Rose dearly, they know it’s sadly time to hand her over when they find her sitting on top of a pile of dead bodies playing with a metal scythe in the dungeons. Once Rose is dropped off at the Beneviento house, I imagine Donna is her usual stoic self the first few weeks Rose is with her. She’s not cold or distant necessarily, in fact she’s quite happy that it’s finally her turn with precious baby Rose, but Donna isn’t exactly known for being outwardly expressive herself (and even Angie isn’t being quite as forward as she normally is), so things are quiet and peaceful for the first little while that Rose is under her care. It’s not until Rose takes an interest in her doll Angie, and more importantly the things that Donna can do with Angie, that things really start getting fun. By the end of Rose’s first month in the Beneviento house she and Donna are the best of friends and often spend their days either playing dress up and make pretend with Donna’s extensive doll collection, or playing elaborate games of cat and mouse, where Donna will set up lots of puzzles throughout the house for Rose to find and solve (I.e. rose has to match her dress to the doll with the same one as her to find a map telling her which kitchen cabinet Donna hid the chocolate in, or something like that), but be careful little Rose, Angie has been trying to get her hands on that chocolate all day, and if u take too long, she’ll find the map first and eat all the chocolate without saving you a single piece. Just silly little puzzles with enough at stake to engage the mind of a curious 3 year old, but never enough to put rose in any actual danger. Donna is nothing if not a watchful caretaker, so she makes sure she has sight of Rose at all times, occasionally giving her a hint if she’s struggling, and perhaps occasionally making things harder if that day’s puzzle is proving too easy for her. Overall, Rose’s time with Donna, while not as grand and luxurious as the Dimitrescus, was still a fun and enriching experience for the young girl, and there’s nobody in this world who thinks that Donna’s scar is cool more than Rose.
3. After another 3 years with Donna, Rose is now 6 years old and officially far too good at puzzle solving for Donna to keep up with. No matter what she tries or how hard she makes it, Rose just keeps blazing through the puzzles at an almost alarming rate, making it clear that Rose is desperately in need of not only a change in scenery, but also a change in education, and this is where Salvatore finally comes in. After leaving the Beneviento house, I think the next logical place for Rose to stay would be with Salvatore, who, with lore hinting at him perhaps being a scholarly man of some kind, would basically act as her elementary school teacher throughout the duration of her stay. Now, to be fair, Rose could have gone to Heisenburg’s factory, but Heisenberg outright refused to take her and the other 3 lords decide that the factory is simply too dangerous for Rose rn, who thus far hasn’t shown any signs of being anything other than a normal human girl with no noticeable abilities (save for a smart mouth and a terrifying habit of popping up when least expected, a habit she mostly uses to mess with Heisenberg, much to his disdain and Lady Dimitrescu’s delight), so it is to the mutant fish man’s unimaginable delight that he is unanimously voted Roses next caretaker, and the one responsible for her basic education. Despite his initial excitement however, when Rose is finally dropped off at the windmills by Donna, Salvatore realizes that he’s not 100% sure what to do with Rose now that he has her. He’d like to get started on her education right away but at the same time he’s so fearful of Rose hating him because of his disgusting appearance that he kind of just... avoids her entirely at first. He’s never far away from the little girl and is always ready to jump to her rescue should she need it, but other than that Salvatore seldom allows himself to be seen for the first month that Rose is with him, the only sign of him still being around being the platefuls of food that mysteriously appear in Rose’s room 3 times a day, as well as the occasional shiny trinket Salvatore found and thought Rose would like. At first, rose doesn’t seem to mind being left entirely to her own devices, but after every stone, log, and rotting fish corpse within 5 miles of the lake has been turned over and thoroughly examined, Rose decides she’s had quite enough of her Uncle Sal ignoring her, prompting the headstrong little girl to go looking for him herself. She finds Salvatore hiding underneath a patch of floating algae not far away from where she was playing and all but demands that the mutant man come out of the water and give her something to do or she’d tell Mother on him. Salvatore, shocked by the small child’s fearlessly blunt request, hesitates, not wanting to frighten Rose, but ultimately relents, crawling out of the water and timidly suggesting that he teach her how to read and write. Rose quickly agrees, seeming totally unbothered by Salvatore’s grotesque appearance, and the two quickly move to the schoolroom that had been set up specifically for Rose, where Salvatore spends hours upon hours a day teaching Rose everything he knows, filling the little girl’s head up first with the basics, letters and words, then numbers and simple equations, followed later by historical dates and time periods, algebraic formulas, and classic literature analysis, then biology, chemistry, physics, astrology, calculus, ecology, and so much more. Basically, anything there is to know, Salvatore knows at least something about it and he’ll make sure that Rose knows about it too. In the 3 years Rose spends with Salvatore she goes from already sharp as a whip, to being smarter than most adults even, and Salvatore takes immense pride in how intelligent and knowledgable Rose becomes thanks to his surprisingly effective teaching style. Overall, as a caretaker, Salvatore is pretty weird and doubts himself a lot, but Rose thinks he’s funny and loves learning from him so they get along very well and she loves him very dearly! He probs teaches her to swim and fish too.
4. So another 3 years come and go with incredible speed, and its with great sadness on Salvatore’s part that Heisenberg finally comes banging on the fish man’s door, all but demanding that he now be given his turn with Rose. Now, personally, I can see several different arguments being raised by the other 3 lords over why its a terrible idea to let a 9 year old anywhere near Heisenberg, much less be given into his care fully. After about 9 years of seeing his siblings paling around with the constantly growing child, and looking like theyre having the time of their lives all the while, however, Karl decides that perhaps there’s more to this little girl than he originally thought, and, with his interest now piqued (or at the very least looking forward to pissing the other 3 off for entertainment purposes), that its only fair that he be given a turn with her now too, seeing as how he’s the only one who hasn’t been given the chance to be her caretaker yet. This naturally does NOT go over well with the other 3 lords. Alcina all but threatens to kill Karl should he step so much as within 10 ft of Rose, while Donna pipes up and demands to know what his sudden interest in Rose is. Even Salvatore, who is quick to flinch away from direct conflict, goes as far as to harshly point out the plethora of times Karl had outright denied their previous attempts to get him to engage with Rose, so why on earth would they hand her over to him now when he’s previously shown to have absolutely no interest in her? After a long spout of yelling between the 4 siblings, an agreement is reached, wherein Rose herself will be given the chance to decide whether she wants to go with Heisenberg, or whether she’ll return to one of the other 3 lords for the time being. It is to Alcina, Donna, and Salvatore’s absolute horror however, that Rose enthusiastically agrees to go with her Uncle Karl to live in his factory, and with the deal already set, the other lords can do nothing to stop her from going. The trip to drop off Rose at heisenberg’s factory is a long and arduous one, especially for Salvatore, who sobs the whole way there about Rose forgetting about him despite the young girl’s insistence that she’d visit. The first thing Karl does after officially having Rose handed over to him, is give her an extensive list of all the places in the factory in which she is under no circumstances permitted to enter without his permission (which basically only leaves the control room and the old storage closet that acts as her bedroom as viable places for Rose to go and explore). The second thing Karl does is dump her in her new storage closet bedroom and then hightail it for his workshop to work on whatever sick and twisted amalgamation he’s got cooked up this time around. At first, Rose isn’t terribly bothered by this, since she’s used to having something of an “adjustment period” when she’s with a new caretaker, but unfortunately for her, this adjustment period lasts a hell of a lot longer than the others did, and by the time 3 months of almost no meaningful contact with Karl, Rose decides to take matters into her own hands and ascends into the depths of the factory despite the express orders not to do so. Now, going back to the idea that the 4 lords are still pretty terrible people, I doubt Rose has been kept ignorant to the less savory aspects of her caretaker’s lives, and tbh she probably doesn’t think anything of the fact that the Dimitrescus makes wine out of the blood of virgin women or that Salvatore still does cadou experiments (and had her help on occasion), but I imagine even Rose would find the projects Karl works on to be at least a little
4, cont. gruesome and horrifying in nature, especially since Heisenberg is the one she knows the least about. However, instead of turning Rose away from Heisenberg, these terrifying metal creatures she sees locked up only spark her already insatiable curiosity, and by the time she finally tracks Karl down, Rose is all but trembling to learn more about this horrifyingly fascinating metal world. Unfortunately, Karl is not nearly as happy to see Rose as Rose is to see him, and the engineer all but grabs Rose by the scruff of her neck and drags her back up to the control room, yelling and screaming at her all the while about how she was explicitly instructed not to enter these parts of the factory without his permission. Needless to say that Rose does not enjoy this treatment and immediately lashes out, half out of anger and half out of confusion as to why Karl was treating her like this. He was the one who wanted her here in the first place, so why the hell was he just ignoring her now? It didn’t make any sense and it was starting to piss Rose off, so naturally the only thing left for her to do in order to solve this complicated situation would be to continue to disobey Karl until he either gave up and sent her back to one of the other lords, or finally payed some damn attention to her for once. So that’s exactly what she did. Every single day Rose left her room (which Karl kept telling himself he needed to put a lock on, but never did cuz he’s an idiot) and descended down into the depths of the factory looking for something ogle at or tinker with, and every single day Karl would track her down wherever she’d managed to get to and throw her back upstairs threatening to feed her to the lycans if she did it again. This incredibly frustrating cycle continued on for the better part of the next month or so, finally coming to a head when Rose managed to wander into the part of the factory where the... less than successful experiments got put whenever Karl doesn’t have any further use for them but is feeling too lazy to kill them off himself. Long story short, Rose runs into a Sturm that chases her around the factory, causing all manner of mayhem and destruction, and would have torn her to ribbons had it not been for Karl, who jumped in at the last second and was able to fend the damn thing off long enough for Rose to get the ever living fuck out and back up to the control room where it’s safe. There’s a lot of loud noises and explosions coming from deep within the factory that last for what feels like an eternity, but Rose doesn’t dare venture out again until everything has gone eerily quiet and a deep sense of worry has settled in the pit of her stomach over what had become of her latest caretaker. Turns out the Sturm had recognized its creator and, after watching its initial prey escape because of said creator, quickly decided that it fucking hated Karl with every fiber of its being and wanted him dead if it was the last thing it’s propellers did. Now, we all know that Karl is a big strong boy who’s more than capable of handling his own creations and taking down strong enemies, but the Sturm is a creation that even he struggles to control on good days and today is decidedly not a good day so not only does Karl not have the slightest bit of control over the death machine trying to kill him, but its also a lot stronger than Karl initially thought and apparently not picky about the method which causes Karl’s death, which is evidenced by the nearly dead Sturm ramming itself into a power generator as a final act of defiance and nearly blowing up the whole factory and everybody inside. Heisenberg is able to contain the explosion somehow but not without considerable damage to himself first. Rose is, naturally, quite horrified to find Karl passed out in the elevator that had taken him up from the lower levels of the factory where the explosion was, skin burnt nearly to a crisp in certain areas and blood pooling from just about every part of him, and immediately heads over to try and help her injured caretaker.
4, cont. again cuz I physically can’t stop myself. Now, I imagine that any normal 9 year old probably wouldnt be able to handle this sort of situation in any meaningful way, but i think we can all agree that Rose is the furthest thing from normal (especially considering who raised her) and has probably seen enough blood and gore to not be terribly freaked out by it, but this is where things get a little speculative because we don’t know what Rose’s powers are exactly but we do know from the final cutscene that she does have them, perhaps even a plethora of abilities, and I like to think that some of those powers are related to Ethan’s superhuman healing capabilities, but unlike Ethan however, who from what we’ve seen could only heal himself, Rose can actually heal other people (tho this isn’t something she’s aware of at this point in time). The second the elevator door opens to reveal, what looks to be, a half-dead Karl slumped over in the corner, Rose panics and runs to him, doing everything she can think of save for maybe grabbing him by the collar or slapping him across the face, to try and get Karl to wake up, except nothing works, he wont wake up no matter how hard Rose tries and i imagine this must be incredibly distressing for Rose who never intended for something like this to happen or for her caretaker to die because he had to protect her even tho he told her not to go down there because its dangerous and anything down there WOULD kill her if given the opportunity. Anyways Rose is now full on sobbing on top of Karl like only a 9 year old who just discovered that her actions have consequences can, but unbeknownst to her (and technically Karl cuz he’s a little busy bleeding out all over the floor) Karl’s wounds are slowly beginning to close, the burns on his face and hands shift from a bright red to a dark brown before crusting over and flaking off, and even his breathing, which had been labored and inconsistent at first, began to level out slightly. Karl woke up not long after that and was surprised to find that a) he was still alive, which was cool, b) he was injured but not in indescribable pain, also cool, and c) there was a literal sobbing child all but sitting on top of him, which is definitely not something Karl was expecting but he supposed he’s been met with worse things upon waking up after almost dying so why question it. After taking a moment to gather their bearings, the two return to the safer parts of the factory to rest and recover and for the most part this little incident of their’s goes largely unspoken, with Rose not exactly in the mood to talk about how her disobedience nearly got herself and Karl killed, and Karl being too fucking tired to go after her about it, especially since she seems to have learned her lesson. The only downside to this whole thing is that now Karl has a busted up fuckin leg thats gonna take an eternity to heal even for him, and with so much work to still do he’s more or less forced to drag Rose around the factory and use her like the annoying assistant he never wanted (except he did want her, thats how this whole fucking mess started, you lug), except that Rose, who is more than used to playing lab assistant from her time with Salvatore, quickly proves to be a rather capable and handy person to have around, if only because she knows the difference between a philips and a flathead screwdriver even better than he does. An amicable, if still slightly awkward peace settles over Heisenberg’s factory once Karl starts actively engaging with Rose and giving her something to do on a daily basis, even if its just standing around watching him work and occasionally having her questions about what he’s doing answered. It doesn’t take very long after that for Karl to begin realizing that perhaps throwing a huge tantrum to get Rose to come here only to ditch her upstairs by herself for 3 months might not have been the smartest (or most considerate) thing he’s ever done, and even goes as far as to (kinda) apologize to Rose for being such a dick to her since she arrived.
4, last one i swear. Rose forgives him, though not before adding that she already knew he was an asshole from Alcina, which earns her a halfhearted swipe from Karl that Rose easily dodges with a childish giggle. From that point on their relationship improves astronomically as Karl finally gives in and teaches Rose about about engineering and everything else that goes into making the metal horrors that he’s known for. Karl is shocked at how quickly Rose picks up on the trade, getting to the point where Karl wonders if he should start giving Rose her own projects to work on, but quickly rolls his eyes and groans when he remember that Salvatore was the one responsible for her education up until this point, the mere thought of having to give compliments to that “moronic freak” for giving Rose such a good educational foundation makes him want to vomit despite how secretly impressed he is. Overall, Rose’s time with Heisenberg starts out shaky, very shaky even, but after a bit of disaster and some swallowing of the pride on Karl’s part, they end up growing quite close and have a nice fun Uncle and martass Neice dynamic. They make a good team and Karl does genuinely enjoy having a little assistant around to help him with his projects, even if Rose can sound a bit too much like Alcina on some days for his liking.
5. 3 more years come and go and now Rose is a strong and healthy 12 years old, perhaps riddled with a few more scars and smearings of ash and motor oil across her skin than when she first arrived but still strong and capable nonetheless. Going back to that first statement however, this of course means that it’s time for the other 3 lords to come banging on Karl’s door for a change, all but demanding that Rose be handed back over to them. Karl of course refuses, telling them all to fuck off and that Rose didn’t want a leave the factory, so upon realization that all 4 lords were gathered here with the intention of taking Rose back to live with them indefinitely, a fight immediately breaks out between the 4 siblings, as each one makes their case as to why Rose should be returned to them and not the other 3, which of course none of the 4 lords can come to an agreement about because they ALL want Rose to stay with them. So after another long and pointlessly arduous argument, Alcina finally breaks, proclaiming that they’d be here for all eternity of they didn’t make a decision now, and that, like the first time the 4 siblings argued over whether Rose should go with Heisenberg or return to one of the previous lords, Rose would be the one to decide which of her four caretakers she would return to. The agreement is made reluctantly, mostly on the part of Salvatore, Donna, and Heisenberg, but there was seemingly no other way for them to come to a decision, so it would unfortunately have to be up to Rose to decide which of her 4 caretakers she wants to stay with permanently. Rose is quickly brought before the 4 lords and explained the situation, before being given some time to herself to think and make her final decision. A tense and uneasy silence falls over the 4 lords as they wait for the little girl, who they had shown an uncharacteristic amount of mercy and time and devotion and love in the 12 years since Mother Miranda had brought her to the village with the intention of using her to revive an already lost and long-gone baby that she never would have gotten back no matter how hard she tried. Although they refused to admit it to one another, the lords all secretly knew that Rose had wormed her way into each of their cold, dead hearts, reviving an aspect of their humanity that they’d all thought had been lost ages ago. Rose came to the village bringing with her a wave of death and destruction, and yet throughout her childhood she has brought them nothing but light and life, illuminating their previously dark and desolate existences. The 4 lords loved their Rose very dearly and desperately wanted her to be happy, yet each of them possesses a dark and selfish desire to have Rose pick them over the other 3, to come and live with them forever and fill the hole deep inside them that they never knew needed filling. After a short while, Rose comes back out and stands before her 4 beloved caretakers, looking around nervously as she picks at her fingernails. The silence is thick and heavy as the 4 lords stare at the young girl, waiting with bated breaths for her to give her final verdict. Rose continues to say nothing as tears begin to flow from her eyes, sliding down her cheeks in thick streams as the girl begins to sob, dropping her head and clenching her dress. The 4 lords look between one another in confusion, unsure of what to do with this sudden burst of tears. Rose tearfully admits that she can’t and doesn’t want to choose which of the 4 lords she wants to live with permanently because she loves them all very much and wants to be able to see and live with all of them, like they’ve done thus far. Although the lords detest the idea of having to share Rose with anyone, they reluctantly come to an agreement for the girl’s sake, deciding that they would continue with the arrangement they’ve had thus far, only that Rose would switch between caretakers every 3 months instead of every 3 years, giving rose plenty of opportunities to see each of her caretakers just like she wanted. From then on, Rose continues to live her life
5, cont. growing up and learning more and more from each of her beloved caretakers. Although Rose would likely never know what a normal life looks like, living with 4 criminally insane monsters in the remote mountain village in Romania, it would be impossible to say that she wouldn’t have a happy life despite that. Perhaps its because the girl simply doesn’t know any better, so she doesn’t have the ability to see just how messed up her life and her 4 caretakers really are, but i imagine that Rose probably wouldn’t care very much to learn even if she had the opportunity. She’s a happy little girl living a strange but enjoyable life with the only family she’ll ever need. What more could she possibly ask for?
6. As for how Mother Miranda would play into this whole scenario I’ve just drunkenly spat out, im honestly not 100% sure. Ive seen some people suggesting that MM just kinda chills and lets the lords do what they want with Rose, but tbh I honestly don’t see that happening in this universe. MM would still have been just as crazy and driven to get Eva back as she was in canon, so i doubt she’d willingly standby and let her “false children” take away her one shot of getting her real child back simply because they didn’t want to hurt her, i just don’t personally see that happening. The two most likely scenarios i can come up with is that the Lords either banded together and look Miranda on together, their combined forces being enough to take her down and kill her, OR, Ethan is the one to take down MM like he did in canon but he passes out before he can get to rose, giving the lords (who he hadn’t ended up killing but just escaping from i guess) the opportunity to slide in, grab rose, and hightail it out of there, leaving Ethan’s body to be retrieved by Chris, who, due to not seeing or hearing Rose anywhere, believes that Rose must have been accidentally killed along with MM, which he later tells to Ethan and Mia. Regardless of how MM gets taken out of the picture (or if she’s given room to potentially come back later), the 4 lords retreat with Rose and begin the whole cycle I explained up above, but i did want to briefly address how I saw MM fitting into all of this since she is a vital part of the original story and the biggest obstacle to the lords having anything to do with Rose.
Anyways, that was so much longer than I intended it to be but I had so much fun with it just because it gave me the opportunity to spit some fun ideas and potential plot points out about this cool AU that I like and hope someone does SOMETHING with, please god someone do it, I’d do it myself but i have enough projects at the moment unfortunately.
