Basil. Need info. I beg

Basil, like all of Farmer Witch Reader's crops cares dearly for the witch. She is polite and soft spoken, though to those she is closes to she can be a bit playful with - often lightly teasing Witch Reader or being the cause of their missing shears. Witch Reader eventually had to invest in a second pair of pruning clippers due to how attached Basil is to their first pair. They are her most prized possession which she uses on her branches to help lighten Reader's work load when they have a lot of their plate, but if their hands are free suddenly hers are unable to hold her clippers properly.

Basil is as protective as she is concerned about Witch Reader holing themselves up on their farm. Wishes they'd explore more often, but would also be one of the first to suggest that maybe Witch should avoid certain humans - namely ones that jeopardize their time with her or the others.

some notes:

aside from basil's parents' general design and the implication that they're busy and rich, everything else about his family outside of his grandmother is cat's headcanon!

the flowers assigned to each family member are olive blossom (oliver), dahlia (dahlia), sea aster (oliver's father), goldenrod (elijah), rosemary (rosemary), and azaleas (basil's grandmother)

the flowers in the last part represent the people (new and old) in basil's life!

dahlias are in the same family as daisies and sunflowers!

basil's dream of his family tree/garden is inspired by the meadow in headspace

spirit mari takes the form of her 15 year old self to basil, as he never wants to turn away from the truth again

thank you again for the patience and encouragement as we worked on this!! i honestly wouldn't have gotten through this much work over the months if i wasn't in love with what cat wrote, so i hope you enjoy it! 🫶
