I finally made it - after I spoiled myself in my work break a little bit, I barely made it till the end! - but now I watched Ep 3 of Only friends - and witnessed acting greatness and also a Barbenheimer happening.
So let's dig (ck - yes u Boston!) In:
Mew: I have still zero clue about him tbh. He might be fucked up differently I guessed multiple times. Is he innocence or is he a mess? He kissed Ray some time 2 years ago apparent? Was he drunk? Lot of questions! Books acting is so great shit...
Top: Force did such an amazing job it's so good. I really was (am???) so fond of the way Top is with Mew. He asks for consent, he let's him be (till Ton makes his moves...)...but he has that thing going on with Sand somehow? (Next Ep will be crazy omg - that Middle finger haha I loved that sm) also Top is so naive to believe a single shit Ton says? God. (The car scene alone had so many emotions in forces face...I can't with him. I love to hate him bc he just did that and we all know sb like him..I do..poor lost soul)
Ray: Khao is making him so desperately insecure and sexy and annoying and also lonely boy vibes with those big puppy eyes god man. Not just Sand is amazed (or what ever u may call it). All his scenes give me those vibes that when u in his hands u never get out alive...except Mew has him in his hands...man that's all so fucked up lol
Sand: I love how First plays him. I love his bratty attitude and the way he trys to life through his shit. Also his style love that (succer for band shirts urg) also he has that blanc space I can not fill for now. Either he is a trickster of his own or he is also a lonely puppy. The way Ray convinces him so easily..We will see...
Boston: he is a mess. An absolut ass. He makes his plans and executes them with no mercy. In his favour obv. He tells Ray to confess to Mew, gets Top to fuck him (he never bottom?? Is that the reason he likes Top?? Was he his first? Omg??) and tells Nick he hates drama just that he stays in line?? Oh my god. So fucked up. What a performance of Neo! Shit he does have chemistry with everyone?? My god I love to hate Ton but Neo has my heart really. This is amazing.
Nick: oh my boy. The twitter thing was so good. He is so naive..but as I blogged earlier..Nick put that voice record thing in Tons car, he connected the dots with the friends really fast and now he sees the truth of Boston...I am excited for his revenge, that will bring mess to everyone (because he tells Sand??? Shit even better) and also will fuck up Ton so much (deserved) that he will have nobody left (wild guess..) I am so excited for Mark to play this u don't know how much..
Preview Ep 4: My god. How fucked up will it be?? Aaaah we are only in ep 4 next week (Books fav ep to look forward to)???? And it's such a mess. (I AM SO HERE FOR IT THAT IT MESSES WITH MY SANITY HAHA)
And that brings me to my personal Barbenheimer moment:
Barbie (after G4 concert snippets)
Tumblr media
Oppenheimer (after OF)
Tumblr media
And that was my Saturday! Well thank u, bye 😁😇😝😈

Carlos Sainz sits down talking about championships, end of contracts, and relationships.
The hottest topic in the paddock at the moment has been Carlos Sainz. He is the driver that has been to watch out for as he becomes the El Matador that crushes Red Bull's streak of victory. The soon to be ex-Ferrari driver thanks the team for building a good car and creating new strategy that allowed them to best Red Bull several times already.
It was no surprise that him and teammate, Charles Leclerc has been chasing Max down for the championship. When asked about how does he deal with the pressure, he mentioned that he kept himself grounded by a note tucked inside of his helmet. He said that the content of the notes cannot be discussed (as well as the writer of the note) but he is very grateful for it for keeping him in touch with reality. The Spaniard is currently sitting at the second place with only 2 points difference from the current champion.
"It has not yet been decided" this is what Carlos has to say regarding where he would sign next. Carlos assures everyone that there are offers but he is still weighing which will be a better option. His focus at the moment was not on the signing because as he states "if I'm a good driver then the offers will just keep coming." He wishes to focus on doing his best with his current team and reiterates that he has no ill feelings with the team.
Another hot topic that Carlos was asked about is regarding his love life. There were rumors about his split with long-time girlfriend and now running for Miss Universe, Y/N L/N. Carlos explained how he is very proud of Y/N and that he wishes all the best for her. He refused to answer questions detailing more about her since he explains that "focus on Y/N as a beauty queen and not because of her relationship. She deserves more than just being someone's girlfriend."

[What can you say about your relationship with Carlos, everyone is curious about what happened] This is the only time, I'll talk about this. If you are looking for drama, there is no drama between the two of us. Carlos and I met when we were still young people and we grew up together. We matured as individuals..Its not a bad thing. I am extremely happy and proud of where he is right now. Were both chasing our dreams. What we are, what have been. Its all good. That's all that I have to say.

if i can be sincere and ramble for one moment, before the inevitable Barbenheimer backlash begins (it's coming, it might already be here, that's just how the internet works):
Last weekend was so fun. I'm at the movie theater pretty much every weekend because I love seeing movies on the big screen but the atmosphere last weekend was so palpably different and exciting and joyous and even if you were to take a cynical view of the entire experience ("it's just a capitalist toy commercial" etc.) it still doesn't really change the fact that people were just having fun. they were cheering, they were joking - half of my Oppenheimer audience were wearing pink but taking the movie very seriously. people were dressed up as Weird Barbie, Goth Barbie, there was a guy wearing a suit with a pink fedora and a pink tie - people were soberly discussing feminism and nuclear disarmament in the bathroom - it was all so strange and thrilling and lovely. it just felt like it was bringing everyone together in a way that was really wholesome - these days it's rare to see people come together like this in a positive way - people are so at odds with one another in every facet of modern life, and sometimes it feels like the only time we're all together on anything anymore is when we have to team up to tear something down (usually justifiably so) - and i don't really mean for this to sound too self-important or whatever, i know they're just movies - but... it's just nice to know we're still capable of all just having fun together? i know that's a corny sentiment, but, what can i say, i must speak my truth.
i had friends and co-workers who are not normally movie buffs texting me and talking to me at the office like - "brynn! did you see barbie?! did you see oppenheimer?! let's talk about it!" my head was spinning! my heart was happy!
it just sucks that it's coming right at the moment where hollywood seems to be on a very serious self-destructive path - i want them to learn that "event" movies do not necessarily need to mean marvel movies or reboots of fading franchises concepted and written by computer algorithms - you could argue that both of these movies are tied to existing IP: barbie the toy and christopher nolan movies are well known properties in and of themselves - but they're still wholly original movies with a lot on their minds and a lot to say - and regardless of whether you love or hate either film (i personally thought both were great but i've seen criticism of both that are totally valid!), the conversation around them has been really thoughtful and interesting (right-wing trolls excepted, obviously), which is not something you can really say about Fast X or Jurassic World or Quantumania or whatever.
anyway. movies are great! movies can be important! writers and actors deserve to be paid for all the love and effort they pour into these things! and i'm glad we all got to share this together. 💖

i posted last week about how i went to watch oppenheimer as part of barbenheimer & then ended up writing a 900 word essay about it. three people asked to see the essay so here it is:
a three hour anxiety attack
i watched oppenheimer; had dinner, watched barbie and then showered. i cant stop thinking about this movie. the thing about christopher nolan movies is that there’s always a part of them that makes me remember why i love movies, a part of me that is reminded of their power in the way that they make me feel things. most succinctly, yes, this movie is a three hour anxiety attack because i spent the entirety of the movie anxious, knowing little about this film other than that an atomic bomb is going to be made and dropped on hiroshima and nagasaki.
while i was much too dumb to understand the timeline of events, christopher nolan still makes such a foreign experience feel personal and familiar. relatable even, even though the times have changed. people have always been people, flawed and trusting and selfish. there’s the case of the spy, a jewish man, much like oppenheimer, that oppenheimer initially trusts out of community in hard times. you can understand oppenheimer’s devotion to the war, as someone so personally affected by it. there’s something personal, in the orchestration of the betrayal by robert downey jr (i cannot remember his characters name, truly, he was not that memorable), and how oppenheimer goes from respected to blacklisted. people are petty and cruel. i don’t think i’ve ever seen a movie with a sex scene that i found added to the plot of characters, but there is something so powerful in jean’s death being the only one explicitly shown on screen: humans are selfish and will be our own demise because we, more often than not, cannot find the empathy to care for people who we don’t know. it’s the trolley problem - the death of a lover or the death of hundreds of thousands, or even, the very end of the world.
there’s one line of dialogue that hasn’t left my mind since i finished watching this movie, almost ten hours ago now. it’s the moment in which they’re discussing what cities to bomb, and one character goes ‘not kyoto. there’s too much culture. plus my wife and i honeymooned there’ or something of the sort. it’s the kind of moment that shocked me, how the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians were held in the hands of a guy making decisions based on his honeymoon. it’s the most memorable example of the question ‘who had the right to power’, regarding people’s lives, that consumes this movie. who has the right to create and use a weapon of mass destruction? another that i think of, is the scene with truman. i think that christopher nolan has portrayed a president more accurately than any other piece of media in the past: the president is not just some boss man, he is a guy appointed to look over entire fields he could not possibly understand the weight of, not even if he tried. truman’s depiction in this movie - as does everyone’s, honestly - feels so real because every single person has flaws. everyone here is so deeply flawed and insufferable, even oppenheimer, who likely is only slightly better because he’s aware of it all.
in high school, i was forced to spend two entire years studying world war two and the cold war from every perspective - japan, germany, italy, the united states, the soviet union, china, france and england. so of course, the questions of the ethics and necessity of the dropping of the atomic bomb came up, and there are so many discussions to be had within that. and yet, there wasn’t enough in this film. maybe this is a good thing, given that would require the opinions and analysis of the work of many historians that would likely derail the vision of nolan’s film, it would’ve meant a lot to the little nerd in me specifically.
oppenheimer opposes the hydrogen bomb because if the united states has one; the soviet union, their enemies at the time, would be forced to make one too. on a side note, another moment in this film that made my gut wrench was when this claim is denied on the belief that russia does not have the resources, or knowledge to compete with the united states. and god what a fucking blessing and curse is hindsight, as underestimating russia and the soviet union during a war is just as relevant today. this makes an interesting biopic to me because everyone knows about the atomic bomb. everyone knows about chernobyl and nuclear power. in fact, in the very basic level science classes i took, the world nuclear power became synonymous with chernobyl. bad things happen, and we know it, and this movie helps to warn us a bit about it.
enough on the history nerd stuff i truly did forget how much of my life i spent studying history, even if i only stopped just over a year ago. the sound design of this movie was fucking insane. every piece of audio, the line delivery, everything, made me feel so much (besides rdj - i get what people say about people having faces that know what iphones are) the shots were fucking masterful and despite being a three hour film, there was not a single moment (beyond the sex scenes mayhaps) that i felt dragged on for longer than they needed to. once again, just to end this off, god i fucking loved the sound of this movie, the build up, the anxiety, everything. while i most certainly have not seen enough christopher nolan to say definitively that this is his best work, i can most certainly see why people would say it is so.

IDK IF YOU’RE STILL DOING THIS BUT!
How would wolfstar act during Barbenheimer? Who wants to see what? How are they dressed?
EEEEEEE i am ALWAYS doing these ALWAYS i love them so much 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶 ((i have some unanswered ones in my inbox i promise im getting to don’t worry 💕💓💞💖))
okay first off we’ve established that they’re both insufferable wanna-be film critics & everyone hates them for it. so keep that in the background. they’re annoying as hell.
so they get wind of oppenheimer first. the teaser plays at a midnight screening of “nope” ((sirius is a jordan peele stan)) and it’s just a bunch of fire and black and white shots of cillian murphy so they’re both like “🙂 huh okay fun.” but then christopher nolan’s name is on the screen and sirius is nearly flying out of his seat bc he’s potentially the world’s biggest chris nolan stan. and he’s hitting remus on the arm and he’s all “👹 FUC K! !!!” and remus is like “oh good another nolan movie that’ll be fun love that” and enduring sirius’ semi-quiet fangirl moment but then he catches on to what the trailer is actually about and “oppenheimer” comes on the end card and then he’s ALSO having a freakout moment & he’s all “oh fuck 😧😧😧 oh fuck it’s oppenheimer 🫢 oh fuck 😵 oh fuck cheistopher nolan’s doing oppenheimer 😵‍💫😵‍ oh god.”
so for the next couple of months they’re both telling all their friends “yes so we’ve heard the inside scoop about nolan’s new film, very ambitious, word on the street is that it’s all practical & the b*mb isn’t CGI” and “did u know that christopher nolan himself created an atom b*mb on set to 1/36th scale” like they’re just making shit up from these random reddit threads & illegitimate news sites and everyone’s like “yeah great okay sure no one cares 🙄”
but then fall rolls around & remus overhears someone on the actual street talking on the phone about a barbie movie. and he does a little google and there it is, greta gerwig is doing a barbie movie with margot robbie, and holy shit sirius is going to freak ((he’s also a greta gerwig stan, they both are, obvi. sirius’ favorite of hers is ladybird and remus’ fav is little women, also obvi)). remus makes the mistake of sending sirius the article ab the movie in a text instead of in person where he could have done some damage control and he immediately gets a facetime where sirius just screeches at him for a good three and a half minutes before a single coherent word comes out of his mouth. so yes, he’s very excited for barbie, and remus is excited for greta gerwig to make everyone cry over a doll.
so they know about the movies separately and then the barbenheimer phenomenon takes over, and they become aware that not only are both movies coming out in july, they’re coming out on the same fucking day. and when they find this out they’re at home on separate sides of the apartment and marlene texts in the gc like “are we doing barbenheimer weekend orrrr” and they both take a minute to catch up but then they’re meeting in the living room like WHATTTTT😵😵😵😵😵😵
they plan a whole weekend. on saturday morning remus gets up early and makes waffles in the heart-shaped waffle maker sirius found months ago specifically for barbenheimer weekend breakfast and even puts red food coloring in the batter so they’re pink hearts with whipped cream and cherries to top it all off. and they do black coffee to drink because it gives oppenheimer vibes & they couldn’t think of anything else appetizing to go with it in a breakfast scenario.
they’re going comfort over style for the premiere bc they’re ab to be at the theater for like seven or eight hours, but sirius is wearing a hot pink malibu barbie baby tee for the occasion. remus is ✨not✨ wearing hot pink bc he’s a ✨warm autumn✨ & it’s ✨not✨ his color but he made sure sirius took one of his sweaters bc he always gets cold at movies and complains he’s freezing until remus gives him his own & that is “not happening this time, sirius, get your own fucking sweater.”
they’re doing barbie first. they got the tickets the second they went on sale, two seats in the middle of the row ⅔ of the way back into the theater bc that’s where sound designers sit for screenings & it’s a perfect view. they get their giant sodas and a big popcorn to share, plus some m&ms they snuck in to do an m&m/popcorn mix ((god tier movie snack fr)). they’re enraptured from the very first scene. giant barbie on a desert background. barbieland. the dream house. ryan gosling. all of it. it’s a masterpiece. they both cry at the end & they’re caught off guard bc wtf this wasn’t supposed to be about mothers??? what the hell???
they have a forty-five minute break between movies where they recover in the lobby for a while & refill the popcorn, but they’re getting one water bottle to share this time bc bathroom breaks are not an option & oppenheimer has like a three and a half hour fucking runtime. like they’re doing bathroom breaks twenty seconds before the movie starts bc missing part of this film would actually destroy them psychologically
they do it in IMAX, obvi, ⅔ back in the middle of the row. it’s an out of body experience. they don’t speak or move the entire time. they don’t speak or move while the credits play. they leave the theater in silence. they go home and sit on the couch and stare at the wall and remus goes “we……we should have seen barbie last.” and then they both look at each other like 😐👀? and then they’re getting up and rushing back to the theater and seeing barbie again
the next day they’re getting together with all their friends to do barbenheimer day 2 and trying not to spoil it but they’ve already talked to each other about the individual movies too much, like they laid in bed and talked about the fucking movies like idiots for multiple hours, so they need new feedback to talk over & correct everyone’s wrong opinions
and like obviously everyone hates them

Barbenheimer season: would the ROs watch Barbie, Oppenheimer, both or neither?
Aha, I've been gone so long that this answer might no longer be relevant by now. (;´∀`) Apologies, truly.
Also, uh, admitting my bias here and now . . . I fell asleep during Oppenheimer. ( ;´д`) But I also don't really remember what happened in Barbie all that well, so please take this answer with a grain of salt! Anyways . . .
Akil would prefer to watch Oppenheimer but is willing to watch Barbie if that's the preference of his company. He has no nostalgic sentiments about Barbie, but he does have an inclination towards the historical. Really though, neither movie would normally draw much of his interest on their own. Akil, being an absolute workaholic, is not one easily swayed by or much aware of pop culture trends.
Kamiko would defer the decision to whoever she was with. She has little interest in films, and less interest in the loud and stuffy environment of movie theaters. I don't think she would much enjoy either film, really. Any enjoyment from her would be derived from the joy / investment of whatever well-liked company that has managed to drag her to a theatre in the first place. And her enjoyment from their reaction would be more than enough to make the experience pleasant for her.
Sigmund would verbally suggest Oppenheimer, but he would have more enjoyment from the Barbie film due to the more comedic moments. And yet, it wouldn't really cross his mind to be the one to suggest Barbie if whoever was accompanying him didn't have some previously expressed nostalgia / interest in the film. Maybe if he saw some memes about the film, and knew they appealed to the taste of someone he knew and wanted to spend time with, he might come to the idea of recommending and watching it with them all on his own. Otherwise, it's a blip on his radar.
Imka would prefer to watch Barbie, enjoying the vibes and aesthetic of the film, and would most definitely have a far better experience than if she were to watch the more pensive and troubled mood of Oppenheimer. A viewing of Barbie would leave her pleased and charmed whereas a viewing of Oppenheimer would leave her thoughtful and quiet. She's open to either, however, and being such a people-pleaser, she'll likely feign an equal interest for both films if asked to pick which she'd prefer to watch / whether to watch both in order to direct the final decision onto someone else.
Elouan would suggest and prefer Barbie, not too keen on enduring a long and (to him) tedious film that takes such a serious and dour tone. I think he would enjoy Oppenheimer well enough if he were to watch it, though, and he'll have much to say on it in the hours after the film. If he really likes his company, he'll endure the "wasted time" of watching both and pretend that he's having a wonderful time through the whole experience. Movies, however, are a bit of a sore point for Elouan, so do expect some wistful nostalgia to distract him from whatever he's watching now and then.
Jae would push for Barbie right out the gate. The events in Oppenheimer do not interest her in the slightest, a fact further aggravated by the mere run time of the film. She doesn't have an intense personal attachment to Barbie dolls either (though she likes the fashion and messages she sees in the brand) but the trend of dressing up for the film would really catch her excitement. Expect her to go all-out for it and assist anyone who wants to join her for the movie with dressing the part as well.
Niccolò is down for whatever, whenever. He'll love Barbie as much as he'll love Oppenheimer, and he'll definitely want to hop on board the Barbenheimer trend the moment it comes to his attention. Dressing the part is a fun boon on top of it all, especially if he can coordinate his outfit with others to maximize the 'meme potential' (which is the phrase he will use without fully comprehending what it even means). He'll laugh and smile through Barbie. He'll watch with rapt attention all throughout Oppenheimer. The meme makes the entire experience a double win - one that becomes a triple win when it also gives the excuse of light-hearted goofing around with those he cares about for the sake of a mutually enjoyed meme / joke / trend.
Mutya would voice support for watching Oppenheimer if pushed into giving her opinion on which to watch and may just enjoy that more than the Barbie film. Mutya doesn't care much for the Barbie brand, but she would find the film to be serviceable as a piece of entertainment even if it's not quite to her tastes. Similarly, Oppenheimer would not leave a major impression on her, but she would leave the theatre with a nod of approval, nonetheless.
Fyodor would choose whatever seems the most lighthearted based on the promotional material outside the theatre, hence latching onto Barbie. Especially if people were partaking in the pink attire trend at the theatre which he would consider humorous and cute, thus assuming the film to be just that (humorous and cute) as well. Honestly, Oppenheimer would likely have one of two outcomes if he were to watch it: drag down his mood for the rest of the night (leaving him uncomfortable and a little lost as he watched it) or lulling him into a nap as it seems to drool on endlessly. Fyodor does not enjoy depictions of troubled homes and relationships, takes little interest in much anything academic or historical, and has a mind that is likely to wonder in a such a long conversation-heavy film.
Then again . . . The whole concept of a doll wishing to find her own human independence, and Ken’s struggle to find meaning beyond his blind devotion to someone he desperately wants to be loved by, might stir up more bad memories than it’s worth if he were to put much thought in it. It’s more than a little reminiscent of his former ties to Dollmaker and any current romantic prospects he may be pursuing (or even platonic ones, if romance is not applicable). Best to keep him distracted with snacks and comments during the movie so he doesn’t have an existential crises by the end of the night.
And as for the minor ROs . . .
Curadora would state that she'd prefer to watch Oppenheimer. She does enjoy historically based films and would hope that interest will translate to Oppenheimer as well. If she ended up watching Barbie, however, she would admit that she enjoyed that film experience more due to the tone and positive messages it attempts to convey.
Dearil would rather watch neither simply due to the public (and, in this case, crowded) nature of theatres that are prone to filthiness, incessant noise, and human eyes that seem to burn him with an unshakeable discomfort. If the films were to be available for an 'at-home' watch, he would much prefer Oppenheimer, not particularly keen on the aesthetics, humor, or brand of Barbie. Plus, as someone raised in deep isolation from the outer world for his entire upbringing, Dearil rarely passes up a chance to learn more about historical events and notable persons from the past.
Lempo would definitely push for Barbie, delighted with nostalgia, and would leave the theatre more elated than usual. She would urge everyone she knows to watch the film with her and partake in the trend of pink dress-up. She would absolutely adore the film from top-to-bottom and would be a bubbly ball of energy in the hours after from the great time she had while watching it.
Retriever would be down to view both, especially back-to-back for the meme alone. He doesn't have much nostalgia for Barbie, but he appreciates the often preppy and positive vibes of the Barbie brand as well as the nostalgia so many others have for it. On top of that, Retriever is the type to have a passive interest in American history which would make him keen on the depictions of historical events in Oppenheimer. Overall, though, he would have a better time watching Barbie, and would enjoy it most with others.
Mishka would have to be worn down by much insistence and coaxing to bother with either. Oppenheimer, however, would be a more enjoyable experience for them due to the historical nature of its events and the more complex, messy relationships it depicts. Might have a lot of questions after the showing. Maybe too many questions.
Thank you for the ask, and apologies again for the outdated response! (;^ω^)

Midnight Headcannons for Hiveswap/Friendsim Characters (Part 1)
These may be very well liked, or very controversial idk. If you write a fic (unlikely but who knows) based on any of these then PLEASE lmk. Part 1 because some I may feel uninspired + I don't wanna do all of them in one post. Xefros Tritoh: THE BOY HIMSELF.
He is a semi closeted midwest emo (I mean look at him) and a fully closeted stereotypical emo aesthetic enjoyer.
Ever since he started the Grubbels with Dammek, he's actually gotten quite good at singing, and rapping. (this is based on the line that Dammek passive aggressively hinted that Xefros needed vocals practice, and If I were Xefros my insecure ass would start practicing REGULARLY.)
If he were not plagued by constant anxiety he would sleep a lot, and be a very sleepy person (Sloth lusus). Or rather he requires more sleep than the average troll, and when he gets it he's very energetic. Because of his training with Dammek to "sleep anywhere" this would result in him frequently falling alseep while standing if he didn't get his proper sleep.
I want him to kill Trizza with a baseball bat. Off with their heads and hit a home run. Preferably with a baseball bat covered in nails.
He's trans. That one's not from me I've heard it tho and it's cute as hell imo headcannon immediately accepted.
His crush is a tealblood "reporter" (hobbyist photographer and blogger) who wears rollerskates (manic pixie dream boy.) I say this purely because Idk what traits Idarat and Tegiri have over Tagora besides being more masc and having glasses. And they are both not rat men unlike Tagora (/aff). Anyway because of lack of information I say what I want.
Last one because I genuinely feel like this was in the game but I'm not. Certain. Anyway Xefros looks so generic that so long as he isn't wearing his sign it would be genuinely impossible for any drone to find him based on his face. Dammek:
He got most of the parts for the weapon off of trolls craiglist
he will either instantly obliterate Jude's sense of self and self worth and have to work up from there to realize he needs to be nicer or he'll lose his moirail (he already has) or he will be shockingly ok to Jude and just be closed off and he will have to work up to expressing affection normally instead of survivalist training.
he's a little robotics geek he will get his hands on a cell phone and fucking destroy it when he gets to earth./joking to early. He MAY destroy a tv. I think based on his building skills he would be fascinated by earth technology.
the cameras installed in Xefros' hive have lasers. Xefros does not know this.
He gets his fancy normal disks from mallek (I've also heard this from another person- I would credit but I can't find it at the moment) Mallek:
Has 13 piercings. (IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW)
he's either a part of the rebellion already, or will be soon enough
He actually knows a mutant which makes him being "cool with mutants" an even weirder more awkward thing to say
he bullies people on 4chan. The homestuck earth equivalent of 4chan. But still earth. he finds it informative and he likes giving their computers the types of bugs that will make them only play slitherio.
His strife specibus is a serrated curved dagger (snake fang like almost)
He has a snake tattoo on his right thigh.
He intends to get sleeve tattoos, he just hasn't perfected the design yet, or found someone he trusts to do it.
Hey you know that character who we've gotten like 1 concept art of. Yea Jerann him. They're boyfriends. Sorry I don't make the rules but he gets a fish nerd boyfriend.
He keeps oblong meat products in his house in case Diemen ever wants to crash.
He's going to give Xefros a piercing when Xefros becomes an emo boy /hj Joey: (I know she should've come first but she's not one of my favouritesss-)
Joey would lose her shit if she saw the barbie movie or Murdoch Mysteries
On a similar note, she would do barbenheimer for/with jude
She has a slight fear of clowns now (reasonable)
when she gets scared while on alternia, she looks up at the sky, and the stars, and thinks of her mom
I think that Joey and Marsti have an excellent opportunity to get along. A vet is just a doctor for a different species after all, and I'm sure just as Joey would be eager to learn Marsti would be eager to teach and get a bit flattered and someone respecting her aspirations and knowledge. Marsti:
Has the nickname Mars
If Marsti could dress up more she would go for a steampunk streamlined vibe.
In the route where Marsti ditches the player at Gahlek's house, she steals a book on her way out
Marsti survives the train crash floating in her bucket.
Marsti wanted to go to Jeevik week because she liked the challenge cleaning up after it might bring.

9 people you'd like to get to know better
tagged by @suddenlysteven! thanks so much for the tag 💕
last song: abstract (psychopomp) by hozier. it's one of my favourites from the new album ("darling there's a part of me / I'm afraid will always be / trapped within an abstract from a moment of my life" SO GOOD), and it's just a perfect song to put on while daydreaming.
favourite colour: pink!! particularly a blush pink--I had an "I hate pink >:(" phase as a kid because it was too ~girly~ but now I'm older and know better and embrace it as much as possible.
currently watching: moon knight (episodes 1-5 on repeat, episode 6 is just kinda ehhh to me), a five-and-a-half hour video essay about victorious, and I want to start watching the flatshare soon (LOVED the book!!)
last movie: barbie. my friends and I did barbenheimer, and unironically, I liked barbie way more than oppenheimer. barbie was fun and funny and made me tear up in the theatre. oppenheimer was...... three hours alright.
currently reading: I'm in between books right now! I'm a HUGE romance reader and read ~65 romance books last year? but I've been busy since then and haven't really found the time to get back into it. feel free to rec books/ask me for recs!!
sweet/spicy/savoury: I've got a massive sweet tooth 🍪 I could live off of chocolate for the rest of my life.
relationship status: single, and in no real rush to change that. the idea of being in a relationship? great, awesome, no notes. actually trying to date and be vulnerable with another person? no, thanks.
current obsession(s): moon knight.... I love my boys..... specifically marc, I adore a tortured hero. obviously I fell in love with steven the first time he appeared on screen, but marc? I cannot get enough of him 💕
last thing I googled: uhhh the performance of aluminum baking sheets for pizza. I made a pizza on one for the first time the other day and it was. ok. stuck to the pan. I think I need to buy some new non-stick baking sheets.
currently working on: I have this moon knight x avatar!reader longfic that I've been intermittently working on for the past few weeks--I've written like 10k words for it but still have no idea where it's going, so. that'll be released when I figure it out lol

Today I would like to get quite a lot of work done, so, naturally, step one is posting.
On the weekend I saw The Mountain Goats, which, it being the TMG era it is, felt a bit like being yelled instructions by John Darnielle for three hours in a beautiful place. All I really wanted was the catharsis of singing No Children in a crowd, which I got! It feels like a pact has been fulfilled with my younger self. I'm more interested in returning to that venue on another day of perfect weather than in seeing them again.
The same is roughly true of Oppenheimer and Barbie, which I saw in that order with friends. Oppenheimer was superbly acted and naturally very tense, enough that it was a huge relief when someone's phone went off at the climactic moment. The fact that there was almost an hour of movie left after that moment left me mostly bored. (We also had subtitles in our theater, and beginning with "LOUD WHOOSHING" really set the vibe.)
I'm sure Barbie is also well-made and that some of that choreography and doll-like acting took a lot of work. Always fun to see Kate McKinnon. However, it felt only about as relevant to me as Oppenheimer. I didn't play with Barbies as a kid, and most of my social circle is made up of women who for one reason or another don't have much to do with men. As Gill said, there was too much Ken in the Barbie movie. I even kind of like soulful guitar bro songs! But it was an unexpected delight to see one of my personal childhood fantasies depicted (the corporation that makes your favorite franchise is hiding, FBI-style, the fact that it's been real all along).
More importantly, I'm glad to have sat in the energy of an Barbenheimer moment for quite a while and to have seen friends the whole time.

you seen barbenheimer yet??
barbie yes, oppenheimer no. and i dont plan on going to see oppenheimer bc im soooo uninterested in pentagon approved movies humanizing the american military like i just dont care to sit thru 3 hours to watch some motherfucker make the worst possible choices that would end in nothing but suffering of millions and then feel bad about it as though that absolves him of the guilt. like u knew what would happen. the man who said "i feel i have blood on my hands" was the same man who was in favor of dropping his weapon of unprecendented destruction on unsuspecting cities. i just! dont! care! also infuriating to me personally that this sort of complexity and humanity is only afforded to people who are white and/or american. like can u imagine a multimillion dollar movie about fuckin. idk. isis or bin laden. they changed the world for the worse and lived layered lives. can u imagine what would happen if someone tried to lend those men the same nuance that white villains in history get. can u imagine the general uproar.
but anyway! barbie was fun & funky fresh even if some moments were kinda corny. might not be thee movie of all time but it got a few genuine giggles out of me and was just pleasantly campy & different from a lot of stuff that's come out recently. oscars for both margot & ryan immediately. i'm sure cillian murphy did a great job but i just... 🥱

POST BARBENHEIMER THOUGHTS!!!
(Minor spoilers for both ahead)
Went to see both Barbie and Oppenheimer last night (saw Barbie first and that is 100% how I would recommend doing it), and it's genuinely so cool that such an interesting cultural event happened with these two movies. They were both absolutely fantastic, and they genuinely do pair really well with each other in ways I wouldn't have expected beforehand, to where I would genuinely recommend setting aside the time to go see both of them in a row to anyone who can. I was extremely impressed by nearly every actor in both movies, with Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and Michael Cera being the stand outs from Barbie, and Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr, Rami Malek, Emily Blunt, and many of the others were absolutely phenomenal in Oppenheimer.
For Barbie, I loved the sense of humor it has, with many of the jokes landing really well in a way that I feel like most people can relate to. All of the stuff with Ken throughout the movie was consistently really funny, and the contrast between Barbie and Ken and their experiences was really well done and served to elevate both the humor and the message of the movie. The message was great, delivered very deliberately to where I genuinely do not understand how so many people online are able to misunderstand it when there are points where the characters (literally) turn to the camera and say it directly to you lol. It was also genuinely very heartfelt and self aware in ways that were quite refreshing, and used what the movie itself even is to create more powerful comedic and serious moments. The musical scene with the Kens was probably my favorite scene, but also the scenes towards the end of the movie in general were stand outs as well.
As for Oppenheimer, I barely know where to begin. This movie is incredible, and if you can see it in IMAX you absolutely need to make it a priority to do so. The cinematography, the use of the contrast between color and bw shots to illustrate perspective shifts, the lighting, the effects (HOW WAS NONE OF IT CGI???), everything was just phenomenal. The movie is an excellent character study of Oppenheimer himself, and makes it pretty explicit that he was objectively a pretty bad person, while also making a broader point about the people around him and the systems in place in the US on a political and societal level being self-contradicting in the same way he is, and similarly being rotten to the core. There is basically no good guy to really root for in this movie, and I love that sense of ambiguity. The usage of the intense white lighting effect to illustrate the lasting effect of the bomb, and of some extremely loud audio to supplement it, was amazing, with the scene in the gym/auditorium/bleachers being by far the best scene of the movie due to this. Everything in the movie points to just how conflicted Oppenheimer was as a person, and how that negatively impacted every facet of his life as he continuously chose to avoid taking sides while still seeking more and more power and notability, with the scene with the apple at the very beginning of the movie priming the audience for what's to come from him incredibly well. The final section of the movie was also quite well done, with the twists surrounding RDJ's character being really clever and well set up throughout the movie as well, even if the bits to set this up and the senate confirmation/security clearance scenes did drag out a little bit following the bomb drop. Overall an incredible movie and experience. Also this movie has one of the strangest sex scenes I've ever seen and it's amazing lmaoooooooooo
In general, I had a great time, and really feel happy that I got to see both of these movies together like this, and would highly recommend both of them to basically anyone!!!

'Oppenheimer was one of the most anticipated movies of the summer. This primarily began when it was announced that Barbie and Oppenheimer would be released on the same day, which is what sparked the trend of the summer: Barbenheimer.
I, of course, saw both movies. Barbie first, and then around two weeks later, I saw Oppenheimer. Admittedly, it took some convincing before I was allowed to accompany my family to the theater due to it being rated R. To be honest, while I absolutely adore the Barbie movie, I think Oppenheimer took me by surprise and became my favorite of the two.
The movie was genuinely extraordinary from both a film and storytelling perspective. I’m not a movie connoisseur or particular expert in deciding what makes a great movie, but Christopher Nolan, the director, really made the story feel personal in a way other directors can’t. For every troubling moment and dramatic climax, you feel as if you are there with the characters, experiencing everything they are. I don’t understand a thing about quantum physics, but this movie made me feel like I was right along with them as a scientist struggling to make the puzzle pieces fit.
To even begin to explain the astounding directing, though, we have to begin with what is at the heart of the movie: the story.
Oppenheimer tells three stories in one, each separated by a distinctive filming style; the first of which begins with J. Robert Oppenheimer, portrayed by Cillian Murphy, sitting in a conference room in the midst of a hearing for his supposed ties to communists. It is primarily used as a plot device to explain the events going on in the main storyline and to clear up confusion. This part of the story is distinguished by the wide-screen perspective, where there are the typical black bars on both the top and bottom of the screen. The wide-screen point of view is meant to represent the subjective view we, as the viewers, are seeing it from, and this again contributes to the audience being almost a part of the movie.
The next is the crux of the film: the making of the first-ever atomic bomb. This storyline is identified by the full-screen perspective and is filled with so many close-ups that I feel like I’ve seen every single imperfection on Murphy’s face. This core plot comes from this, where we see flashbacks to what led up to the atomic bomb and the process that would elicit the creation of it. This story is raw as we see the struggles and mistakes Oppenheimer makes on his track to making history. We see how he brings quantum physics to America, how he meets his wife, and how he deals with the pure, unadulterated guilt of realizing he, in part, caused the death of entire cities of people. This helps us understand his motivations and struggles, therefore making him a multi-dimensional character that the audience can care about.
The third and final story perspective is the story of government official Lewis Strauss, played by Robert Downey Jr., in his attempt to become a member of the U.S. Senate. This story is characterized by the black-and-white perspective, which is told by Strauss. It tells a tale of jealousy and disdain that, over the years, bubbled to the surface, and the story is eloquently done in a way that you don’t quite see how it all adds up until the end. It plays a significant role in leading the audience to see an outside perspective of Oppenheimer’s work and how the odds were stacked against him in several ways.
Each story plays a unique role in the film and is executed in an indicative manner that allows the audience to piece together the puzzle of the story and makes the ending all the more enjoyable when the viewers can feel as if, in a way, they figured it out themselves.
However, the film can essentially be split into two sections: the before and after of the first explosion of the atomic bomb. After the first explosion, the movie shifted, and the rest felt as if it were almost an entirely different film, similar to what Nolan did in one of his other films—The Dark Knight. It shows not only the action but the consequences of the massive discovery that would forever change war. The second half shows the story of a once-beloved man admired for his scientific achievement now being shamed for the very same one and the immense guilt he grapples with having to know what he’s created.
The film is multi-faceted on an astounding number of levels. Every character has a motivation and both an internal and external conflict that makes the story all too real while showcasing both an entertaining movie and accurate history.
Another unexpected but astonishing part of the movie that I haven’t seen anyone talking about is the soundtrack. I find myself listening to it over and over again, and I’m listening to it right now as I’m writing this because the music is so quintessentially accurate to each specific moment in the film, and listening to it transports you into the movie. It’s done in a way that whether the music is blaring loud or merely a whisper, you notice it. It is impossible to ignore in the most immaculate way as it perfectly ties together the entire movie. I wholeheartedly believe that without this specific soundtrack, the movie would have been nowhere near as captivating as it was. Ludwig Göransson composed all of the music for the movie, and he flawlessly tied in notes of music from the movie’s time period with a twist that makes it a bit more modern and authentic to the telling of the story.
Oppenheimer is about a dark period of time; it tells the unfortunate story that led up to the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. By default, we are supposed to think of the scientists and military officials involved in the project as inhumane or evil in a way for working on the bomb that caused hundreds of thousands of deaths. Still, this movie finds a way to humanize each and every one of them by seeing some of the more specific motivations for each person, even if only on a surface level. Although it was a horrible thing to have happened, looking back on history allows us not to repeat our past mistakes. Oppenheimer perfectly walks the line of telling history in a fascinating way while also not romanticizing a tragedy.
If you are considering seeing Oppenheimer in theaters, do it. The film tells an accurate and monumental moment in both American and world history while telling it in a way that intrigues and pulls you into the story. Every moment felt as colossal as the explosion because of the elegant storytelling and directing, and we can only hope this will lead to more films like Oppenheimer coming into theaters.'

Sorry if I missed it but have you seen Barbie?
I have seen it, anon! I did the Barbenheimer double feature two weeks ago, and actually loved both movies, which was a surprise to me because I usually find Christopher Nolan more miss than hit for me personally.
With Barbie, I thought Margot Robbie was particularly great and brought a lot of heart to the role (Ryan Gosling was too, but I kinda felt like his best moments had already been released in trailers and promos, so there wasn't much new there), where as Margot, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon and Michael Cera were really delightful characters to be surprised by across the board. Plus!! Practical effects and physical sets, my beloved!
The feminist angle was pretty 101 for me, but I also felt the intent behind it was genuine and know that I wasn't the target audience for that particular feminist message, y'know? So I'm happy for the women who felt seen by or connected to that, particularly women who maybe come from backgrounds that have treated feminism as a dirty word.
But yes! Overall, I enjoyed it a lot.

Random opinion #6, 'cause IE ares was disapointing and it makes me sad😢 (part 6) :
7. About the other matches :
Seishou gakuen vs Kidokawa : showing a match who isn't about the main team is actually was actually a good idea (when it doesn't shorten Zeus's). I enjoyed it overall. I just don't like ares/orion Gouenji. Idk he seems... too nice, if that even make sense. (The fact that we don't have news of Yuuka and about his dad wanting him to become doctor doesn't help i guess, but i guess he became a background character now). I mean, watch season one and ares, he isn't the same character anymore. Also, was it really necessary to introduce us to override? We see overrides since season one, we now that when you combine 2 shooting hissatsus, you have a brand new more powerful hissatsus 🙄
inakuni vs hakuren : it was a mess... and this why it is my unironical favorite from ares 🤣 (shirou and atsuya are also my favorites). There was a missed opportunity tho : the fact that Inakuni and Hakuren pratically mirrors each other. I mean, they are both "from the countryside", never participated in any official match before (so literal nobodies at this time), with captains who struggle being proper captains (Michinari 'cause he is Michinari / Shirou spending all his energy to deal with Atsuya while neglecting the others), and a forward/ace striker that think he is the main character (Asuto and Atsuya) while the rest of the team is the background (bonus point : their goalies being the most useless ever). Can be funny while useful for character development, can even be serious at some point. Imagine the 2 teams be like "i don't even know we got here and what's going on now but YOLO i guess lol" and at some point, somone wins we don't know how, and we're just like "that's life". That would make the final winning move of Inakuni less fustruating, 'cause idk Cross Drive came out of nowhere. I also want more Nae and Atsuya annoying siblings energy. Also, Ares Shirou seems too confident : let's have him actually contacting the reinforcement comitee and they send Someoka. Could expend forever but let's move on.
Alia gakuen vs inakuni : what's interesting in sun garden is that they're basically literal "found family" the sakka team. Like they all are adopted bros and sis. This was well portrayed by the Hirotos relationship into the match, and i think it's sweet the team adopted the rich kid even tho they're all orphan and not him and that he's kinda an ass. Kira H. was also a good surprise : i hated him in outer code but became one of my fave of areorion. I would have liked to see more of Nagumo/suzuno dynamics, and more of Reina, Midorikawa and Saginuma. Especially Saginuma 'cause he is done so dirty in areorion : bro can't even stop most of the shoots and still got selectionned into IJ. Like tell me about him! Is he the big bro in his brotherhood? What happened to his writting skills? I don't mind him having a goofy personality in this timeline, but what about the gaslighting and all in the og? He made Fubuki have a mental breakdown! Also, a missed opportunity : in Hakuren, one of the reason of their dramas was that their captain had a hard time staying firm on Atsuya because he is his lil bro. Imagine that, but all the team are your siblings lmao. Finally, even if he is already among the better point, i would like to see more of Hiroto : i mean this is the only moment he has character development and is just a "bad boi" striker for all orion, even if he appears quite often and has so many occasions for this! Make him interact more with Atsuya and i am actually serious about that : both kinda think they are the "star/main character" of their team but with different mood (like barbenheimer lol), plus they both supposed to be dead in the og. Hiroto has already more in common with Atsuya than Haizaki, and they didn't even met at this point ! Last after the last thing : at the end of the match, hiroto and tatsuya pull out the most beautiful hissatsus ever just to be stopped by Norika, Asuto and Kozoumaru. What an anticlimacting ending... the hissatsus came too late.
Vs tonegawa tousen : even though ares did not gave us the best matches, the main ones have their highlights anyways (read above). However, Tonegawa really only has Endou (sorry Sakanoue). Like it was memorable 'cause Inakuni had no idea how to get a goal from overhyped Endou (and there is also a racoon girl). I can't remember anything else 😭 Even the (french ?) dub is aware of that and they called it "lambda school" (which basically mean random school) : the savagery omg. I don't know how to make the other team members memorable but here a plot suggestion (southpark inspired me) : Tonegawa Tousen is a humble soccer team that only plays for leisure, as a hobby. But since every soccer club needs a sponsor now, they participate in the "job fair" kinda event at the beginning (read part one). What they haven't predicted is that a reinforcement comitee member will join them afterward. Moreover, they got Endou, who is determined to make them train like hell with truck tyres and participate in FF, 'cause that's his definition of fun. It's not that they don't like Endou (who hates him anyway?), but they didn't want to be competitive and under the spotlights. Sponsor is not really helping 'cause it want its advertisement. So the team tries to make Endou understand subtly what soccer really means for them : "you know Endou, we are just happy to have the occasion to get together with friends, having fun, being silly, to be able to laugh when someone fails without hurting his pride, to take bets to determine who is the best, being able to confort each other when we are not okay and forgetting the rest that sucks. After the training, we usually talk shit and laugh together around a meal, it's the time we all have a genuine smile despite how bad the day could be. And you know, even if we are not great at this game, this soccer club is enough for us. Do you know what we mean?" and Endou answers "yes i totally get it" while understanding that soccer must be really important for them to be this emotional and does the contrary of what they expected. After Tonegawa won matches, the team usually cries 'cause they're still stuck in this tournament and Endou thinks they're just really emotional that they got this far and couldn't believe it. He stays unaware the whole time and guess his teammates are dramatic. When they finally lose, their joy is short-lived 'cause they soon feel pathetic to have been in such situation because of miscommunication and of course Endou thinks they're just dissapointed to not have won and cheers them.

Witnessed Barbenheimer.
Here’s my rating, personally.
Barbie: 2/10. For a Barbie movie the plot was ok, but the everything was just… I saw it once and that is more than enough. It was very headache inducing and major sensory overload. Also, it was just.. not the kind of movie I enjoy, frankly I couldnt wait for it to be over. I did like the John Cena moments though, and Ryan Gosling was pretty cool.
Opennheimer: 7.5-8/10. Personally, I just love documentary style films. This era is one of my favorites for them. Particularly in the sciences. The film was much easier to focus on given the more palatable color theme. I will say, having watching it in imax/rmx it was a bit much sensory wise, particularly due to my sensitivity to loud noises. Also, all of the scenes with Florence Pugh’s character made me extremely uncomfortable but I digress. Either was, it was good.

Okay!! I said that, in the absence of fics, I would post a bit of original work here! That's what this is. I was in the truck we have today, hence the pieces title.
Trigger warnings for: mentions of the death of grandparents, and a few mentions of a car accident (it was non-fatal. Nobody in the accident--myself, my parents, and one unfortunate car, which thankfully nobody was inside of--was killed. Everyone except for the empty car made it out unscathed)
Getting in the truck has always felt like some kind of messed up happy-nervous-excited pit in my stomach.
The happier connotations that are derived from sitting in the truck have come from memories both new and old. Driving an hour out to see my grandparents for the weekend when I was younger and all four of them were still alive, spur of the moment trips to the valley where we go to the same stores, just forty-five minutes out from the place my family calls home.
Newer memories are mostly mundane--getting into the truck to go with Dad to get Mom from work, to shop for groceries and breathe in the air that does not circulate through the 1200 square foot hellscape I currently call home, but instead circulates through a thousand different places at once.
Getting to run my own errands while my dad listens to his dad-rock type music, occasionally going with my sister when she runs hers and listening to them talk, occasionally adding my two-cents to their conversation.
The nervous connotations are derived from memories of the first time I actually acknowledged that the one person in the house with a drivers license is probably less suited to be on the road than he used to be, and the memories of recent accidents and almost-accidents, which I keep in my head like a messed up near-rear-end merry-go-round.
I brace my shoulders every time my dad gets a little too close to the car in front of him and the accident alert that's supposed to go off fails to do so, am reminded of the last time it happened every time it happens again.
When I sit in the front passengers side of that truck and we're near the store where the depth of my fathers health issues really hit me, I mentally kind of brace my shoulders like I'm waiting to be looking at my phone one minute, feeling my seatbelt against my neck as the truck jumps over a sidewalk and my phone flies out of my hand the next. My anxiety kicks up like I'll hear my mothers panicked voice as she tells me her glasses fell off and my fathers voice asking what happened and telling us he blacked out.
There are other versions of the store we can go to, so we don't go to that one anymore. Nobody died in that accident, which is a tremendous relief, but I realized just how direly I needed to start trying to get my license in the name of getting my father the hell off the road that day and I remind myself to start studying for my learners permit again at least once every two weeks.
The more excited connotations of getting in the truck are derived from memories of going places. Going to visit my Nana and Papa before my Nana passed away, going to my aunts hotel so that we get the chance to see her before she leaves the city.
Going to my friends houses to laugh at their shitty jokes and get to be hugged and experience platonic love that I am now entirely certain I wholly deserve. Going to the mall to meet with said friends and walk around, occasionally dipping into stores to see if they have anything interesting and laughing in the odd time someone sees something with comedic potential and decides to turn it into a joke.
Going to the movie theatre with two of my favorite people in the entire world to watch FNAF and sprinting into the theatre because we were late, talking to them about it and waiting for my dad to come get me because one friend had offered the other a ride and I hadn't needed one.
Taking the truck with my sister so that we could watch Oppenheimer and then Barbie on Saturday of Barbenheimer weekend, talking with her while we sat in the parking lot of a grocery store that both of us loathed. Listening to her tell me about the guys in her romance books and not really getting to talk about my interests but being fine with it for the fact that I've never really been good at talking anyway.
Being in the truck is like a jolt of happy-nervous-excited-scared, and yet I keep getting in. Until we get a new car I know I'll just keep disregarding it, keep being happy to breathe in the cold air of January when I step out of the truck and head into a grocery store, keep being nervous every time the rear end of a car gets a little too close or expecting a car to rear end the truck again at complete random like it did during senior year, keep being excited every single time I get to go see my friends at their houses or at the mall or wherever we've chosen to meet up, keep being excited for every movie my sister wants to go see with me.
