Okay so we got Noah Schnapp coming out as gay and Louis breaking up with Eleanor in less then 24 hours. I start to feel like 2023 will actually be a good year.
being dragged back into my sdv hyperfixation kicking and screaming and it's expanded now. this is august, he doesn't really know what he's doing or what's happening but he's rolling with it.
morris' sad sprite when he saw me going through a trash can caught me so off guard. why is he sad about it.
no stop don't go through that trash can what are you doing that's gross stop it 😢💔
theres something so hilarious about theo not knowing pop culture stuff bc of lack of exposure, imagine telling human experimentation no1 theo raeken about a furby. like i feel like at some point hes gotta start feeling comfortable to joke about it bc the comedic value is too good.
“youve never watched ___??!!”
“uh no. i was probably on an autopsy table in excruciating pain during the saturday cartoons my bad.”
“theo how do you not know what slime is”
“i know what slime is obviously. its the stuff the doctors fed me once a day”
“how’d you get into skateboarding?”
“oh it was supposed to be an extra feature installed. it was a mostly failed operation so im not too good at it.”
“really???”
“no.”
So, he has a new series out so I was reminded of my obsession with Ding Yuxi again and in watching some YT video about the new series I was again struck by how fascinating it is to me how different his looks can be. For example, when I watched the first series with him in the main role (The Romance of Tiger and Rose; which yes, I'll readily admit, I agreed to watch in a large part because I saw him on the poster and was like, well, I wouldn't mind seeing more of this 😏), there were two ~versions of him – in the historical and the modern setting:
And like yeah they all wear those wigs in historical dramas so that's not particularly remarkable, right. Little did I know that this was just a tiny tip of the iceberg
Because then when I went to look him up afterwards on YT etc. and the first pictures I saw were these:
about which I was at first like, is that even him? Like the face is just ... not the same in these? But ok, what do I know, anyway ... And then I watched an interview where he has yet another different look, and that seemed kind of in between, so that "bridged the gap" in a way. And then! – in that same interview – they juxtaposed him with another of his earlier looks:
and it's like, who tf is this person ?
It's just, idk, really amazing how much just different hairstyles, lighting, makeup, accessories will do. Obsessed
Other interview looks are nothing extreme
And obviously there's supposed to be more variety when looking at the different roles
But still, sometimes I'm just like, this is one person .....
And like, sure, these looks obviously aren't impossibly different, but comparing the different ends of the spectrum can be pretty wild
In any case, the one that brought all of this about was this latest one:
and idk at this point I shouldn't be surprised anymore. And yet ...
Natori Shuuichi had had many opportunities to come up with a plan, and he hadn't taken any of them. He was beginning to regret that now.
As the nurse looked him over skeptically, he considered the pros and cons of turning on the sparkles. He did tend to get what he wanted when he did that, but it would come at the cost of his anonymity. His manager would kill him if this showed up in tomorrow's headlines.
On the other hand, he'd come this far, and the frantic fear that had pushed him to drop everything and hurry here without taking the time to consider what he'd do upon arrival was still thrumming unhappily under his skin.
Plus, damage control was a thing. Publicists existed, and probably they would all go hungry if he didn't give them something to do. Really he would be doing everyone a favor.
"It's after hours, sir. Family only," the nurse was saying.
Well, he might not be family, but he was an actor. Professionally. He could pretend.
"This is strictly confidential," he told the nurse, leaning forward and lowering his voice conspiratorially. "Can I trust you to keep this between us?" Taking off his glasses, he gazed right into her eyes for the first time. Experience had taught him that was a surefire way to throw people off.
It seemed to be working. She was quickly turning an alarming shade of red and seemed, for a few seconds, to have lost the faculty of speech. "Of- of course, sir. Confidentiality is…very important. I wouldn't - I won't tell anyone."
"Thank you, I appreciate it," he told her as seriously as he could manage. "The truth is, I'm…"
He paused, not just for effect. It was kind of hard to say. This was going to have…consequences.
heading to an appointment to discuss how permanent my pain hyperacusis is and how we’re going to manage it while I’m waiting on emails to tell me which state to move to for upcoming placements ha ha ha ha ha (I am becoming the joker as we speak) 🫠
not to be myself and read into every single detail but the way they have established that pisaeng is always trying to support kawi in any way he can - from romance to standing up for him when others talk shit to issues with kawi's dad -
and how they've grown from kawi telling pisaeng that he is uncomfortable around him and has trouble accepting the support pisaeng (and others) wants so badly to give, all culminating imo into the scene from today:
1) pisaeng kisses kawi's chest, his HEART, with so much tender reverence to continue the thread they've has been weaving this entire series that pisaeng is ready and willing to be kawi's defender, body heart and soul; 2) kawi being now comfortable enough and lulled into sleep essentially protected in pisaeng's arms while pisaeng kisses his heart with that promise.
and then the final after credit scene tying into the main episode, context as to why pisaeng insisted that kawi focus on his dad before working things out with pisaeng: kawi doesn’t need to worry at all about pisaeng going anywhere, he's a patient man and has all the time in the world to wait for kawi, as whatever kawi needs pisaeng to be.
